I read about Elenar posts (loved them by the way) and Im wondering who is his favorite grandpa or grandma ?

I’m expanding the pool of contenders to great-grandparents and steps. (Sadly Laenor is dead so I won’t count him.) We have:

Viserys

Alicent

Rhaenyra

Daemon

Otto

Corlys

Rhaenys

No way it’s Viserys. Even if Viserys is the world’s most indulgent grandpa, Aegon dislikes him too much and Elenar would pick up on that. If Daddy doesn’t like Grandpa, then Cheeseball doesn’t like him either. ❌

Similar story for Stepgramp Daemon. Daemon isn’t the sort to spoil kids anyway. He might coach Alyssa and Viserra to win over Elenar, but he ain’t doing it himself. ❌

Corlys is definitely buying ALL the toys for this kid. Compare to Otto, who has smaller personal wealth so he’s more judicious about the gifts he buys (if he buys any at all). So Corlys rolls up to the Red Keep with a dozen carts filled with toy boats and stuffed animals, whereas Otto carefully picks out some educational toy blocks. They both have very high expectations of the future king and neither is the type to get on the floor and play games. So they’re not his favorites either. ❌

Rhaenyra would show plenty of affection to Elenar, but she’s also busy being a mother to two girls who aren’t much older than him. Honestly, Elenar probably grows up viewing her less as “Grandma” and more as “Alyssa and Viserra’s mom.” She’s doing better than the gentlemen above, but she’s not it either. ❌

Alicent’s kids are either grown up or a very self-sufficient Daeron, so she has way more bandwidth to be a dedicated grandma. I think, like Corlys, she would be better at being a grandparent than a parent. She doesn’t have the burden of responsibility of raising the kid, so she can just sit back and watch him play.

Rhaenys is an empty-nester. She’s helping teach Luce how to run Driftmark, but Luce is getting pretty grown up. Corlys is at court a lot as master of ships, so why not go with him and visit her great-grandson? She also has a soft spot for the fact his name is a homage to Laenor.

So I think it might end up being a tie between Alicent and Rhaenys. They have the wherewithal to fill the traditional (great) grandma role, and Elenar hasn’t been conditioned to dislike them on sight.

hi . lem’s relationship chart .

i’ll probably not talk about the others and only talk about her relationship w/ cb .

the only reason why she hangs out with him has multiple reasons

since cb has great knowledge with devices lem mostly goes to him when her phone breaks or something

she mostly is ‘friends’ with him out of pity . him having no friends (aside from his pet tarantula licorice,,) and all,,,, lem doesn’t want him to be alone

and why theres a bit of orange in the arrow is because lem kinda finds him annoying . she doesn’t like hearing his dumb fun facts about bugs, spiders, etc .
