“I wish I could forget you”

The night sky stretched endlessly above them, the Mexican desert cool beneath their feet. Max Verstappen leaned against the Red Bull car, staring at the horizon. The afterglow of another race win had long faded, leaving behind only the quiet hum of engines cooling and the murmur of the team packing up.

Beside him, Checo Perez stood, silent and distant. The easy banter they once shared felt like a lifetime ago, buried under the weight of unspoken feelings and competitive tension.

“I wish I could forget you,” Max finally broke the silence, his voice low but filled with a vulnerability Checo wasn’t used to hearing.

Checo flinched, not expecting the words. His gaze dropped to the ground, as if the earth could offer answers for the storm swirling inside his heart. “It’s not that easy, Max.”

Max exhaled, pushing himself off the car to stand closer to Checo, his blue eyes searching the other driver’s face. “No, it’s not,” he admitted, his voice thick with the ache of unsaid things. “I tried—hell, I’ve tried. But no matter how many races I win or how many trophies we lift, it’s you I keep thinking about.”

Checo turned, eyes dark and full of something Max couldn’t place. Pain? Regret? Longing? “We’re teammates, Max. Friends.”

“We were more than that, Checo. You know it.” Max’s voice cracked, and for once, he wasn’t the invincible champion the world saw him as. He was just Max—human, flawed, and heartbroken.

Checo sighed, a bitter smile tugging at his lips. “And that’s why it’s complicated. The team, the pressure, the expectations… You and me, we’re supposed to be focused on winning. Not this.”

Max shook his head, his hands balling into fists by his side. “I don’t care about the rest of it, Checo. I care about you.”

The desert air was heavy with words left unspoken, a tension between them that neither racing nor victory could break. Checo’s eyes met Max’s, his voice soft. “If we do this, Max… it could ruin everything.”

Max took a step closer, so close now that Checo could feel his breath, warm against the night air. “Then let it ruin everything. Because I’d rather risk it all than go on pretending I can forget you.”

For a long moment, they stood there, the world around them falling silent. And then, without warning, Checo closed the gap, pulling Max into a kiss that was long overdue. It was a kiss that spoke of all the things they couldn’t say out loud—of passion, of love, of fear.

When they pulled apart, breathless, Checo’s hand lingered on Max’s cheek. “I wish I could forget you,” Checo whispered, echoing Max’s words. “But I don’t want to.”

Max smiled, the weight of the world lifted just a little. “Good. Because I’m not going anywhere.”

1. Charles : he has a Mexican girlfriend that outmugs him in every single picture, purely for her. forza Ferrari

2. Max : Checo’s boyfriend and his lead would get extended

3. Yuki : chestappen son

4. Pato : Lando gets appendicitis and Pato races for him. Pato wins or gets podium in the Mexican GP, second Mexican in f1. McLaren forces me to start liking them

5. Franco : Latina baddie

6. Zhou : Chinese-Mexican relations would improve so much that you would see a boom in the economy in the next coming years

Could you do one for Sergio Checo Perez with wife reader? With the news of his contract extension, the internet was questioning his ability to cope with being teammates with Max. She saw how people were hating on him because of the news. And he led it into his head. So she assured him no matter what, she would always be there for him. Just a dash of angst and eventually fluff. Thanks!! :))
