SCOUPS:

he finds it so incredibly adorable that you have a fan acc dedicated to them. he follows it from his burner acc asap, adding it to his list of accs he checks daily. is so surprised when he finds out that he's actually been following the account already, having been using it for updates on seventeen. amazed to know you're the one behind @ svtfanclub.

JEONGHAN:

teases you about it every chance he gets. he insists you're sooo obsessed with him and everything he does. you have to start second thinking everything you post about him, knowing even the smallest thing might set off a firework of omg you're sooo in love, at least hide it better. ik, ik, you can't help it. i'm irresistible. smirks when he sees you typing on your phone, fingers already itching to save the post before you've even posted it.

JOSHUA:

has a dedicated saved folder just for your posts. saves every single one to look back on later. brings them up in daily conversation randomly - you guys could be talking about what to have for dinner and he'd throw in a soooo i saw your latest post, the one with my photoshoot pictures~ turns red whenever he sees you thirsting for him online.

JUN:

singlehandedly turns your svt updates fan acc into a svt meme acc. he sends you exclusive photos of the members whenever he can, urging you to turn them into memes and to post them. cackles reading all the comments and only ever sends you good pics of himself. he refuses to be caught lacking.

HOSHI:

remember when hoshi spammed weverse with horanghae? he will 100% steal your phone and do that on your fan acc. accidentally stirs up speculation about whether or not you know hoshi or if you're trolling your followers. insists you post one photo of him a day, resulting in the acc being more of a hoshi shrine than a svt fanpage (oops.)

WONWOO:

lowkey impressed how routinely your updates are despite your busy life. he's a little embarrassed by some of your more....enthusiastic posts, but he appreciates the amount of love. ends up adding the acc to his phone so ya'll can run it together. he handles all the nomination updates and real other stuff - allowing you to spend your time posting more fun content about the members.

WOOZI:

doesn't really get the point of it. he does his best to understand the hows and whys of running a fan acc, ending up just telling you how much it means to him that you're supporting his work. gives you exclusive mini interviews about his creative process and songwriting, leaving your followers wondering where on earth you're getting these insider info.

MINGHAO:

touched when he notices you have dedicated posts to him and his art projects. scolds you whenever he sees you interacting with haters, reminding you that as much as he appreciates you defending them, violence is not the answer! he's always there to remind you whenever he feels like you need a break for social media, turning off your phone for you and proposing a day out.

DK:

cries as he scrolls through your posts, not being able to take how thoughtful and supportive you are. clings onto you the whole day after he finds out, whispering how much he loves you and how much it means to him. turns on notifications for your posts and smiles whenever he sees them.

MINGYU:

accidentally likes one of your posts thirsting over him with his main acc. panics and deletes it but it's too late - the ever-watching carats have spotted him. sends millions of followers swarming to your acc and he can only shrug when you confront him about it. claims its for media and promotion purposes. sends you exclusive gym pics and thirst traps for you to post - although some of them are too spicy so you keep them to yourself.

SEUNGKWAN:

has that iconic shocked expression when you tell him before taking out his own phone and showing you that surprise! he has one too. the two of you now sometimes coordinate your posting times and interact with each other in the comments. he will tsk with disappointment if a post doesn't met his standards. competitive ass turns it into a competition.

VERNON:

he's not surprised. you seem to know like everything about seventeen already, so it's only natural you help inform other carats! he'll send you trends he thinks you should incorporate into your acc and provides you with behind-the-scenes pics. gets you vip access to any event so you can grab those up close shoots of him and his members - nepo baby(?) at its finest.

DINO:

his ego is boosted to the max when he finds out. loves that you found a way to love him loudly despite your relationship being private. giggles to himself (although he'll never admit it) whenever you post about him and sends your posts into the svt gc for his hyungs to see.

Currently in game dev as a student and I’ve been looking over your art and concepts for a little bit now—I’m FLOORED. I haven’t checked on your art in a while and had forgotten just how much it inspires me.

Your style holds so much identity, and your skill bleeds through every brushstroke! The way you do silhouettes, the insanely unique and beautiful choice of colors, the ferocity in some of the expressions, the quality of your brushwork, again the USE OF SILHOUETTE AND FORM OH MY GOODNESS!!!

You have SUCH a striking visual style and the way you incorporate similar themes to tie character designs together in your world is incredible! I was able to pick out what I believed to be symbolism and understand it a few seconds after asking the question (it may have been explained in the text and I missed it, but the fact that I was able to draw a conclusion that quickly says a lot about your skills as a designer and artist!).

Please forgive me if this has been asked before by the way, but what program do you use? I have a number of them and am trying to work out how you managed to get the line quality that you do on the brushstrokes (they’re like. Creamy looking??? Does that make sense? They blend together very nicely but don’t blend so much that it muddies the contrasting colors you put on top.)

Anyways as I was reading the game idea you have, I was actively trying to envision how it would look and was immediately feeling a 3D-2D mixed style, especially since your artwork has a very clear visual identity that would benefit from being the focus rather than something like plain or simplistic 3D models.

And then I immediately stumbled onto the low poly model you made and fell in love. I had already thought a Disco-Elysium inspired + low poly (less development time, plus requires less budget for an indie project) would look amazing especially considering how your brushwork means that high-poly models might not benefit nearly as much from it. And I think it might be the right call to continue with that!

What perspective (2D/platformer, 2D platformer with depth [Ex. “Paper Mario”] top down, isometric, 3rd person, 1st person, etc.) do you envision when you think of your game idea?

Personally I feel like it’d work as a 3rd person perspective 3D game, but using extremely low poly buildings and set pieces that let the textures do the work. But keeping in mind that if every character is 3D and rigged, it can and will still take monumentally more time to make.

I could also see it going the direction of having flat 2D characters in a 3D environment (Like “Smile For Me”) which would take less development time and save more energy to focus on good gameplay.

I’d love to hear more about your ideas, and think that you should definitely give more thought to making that game a reality!

Just as a word of advice though, start small. ;^^ Don’t begin with your dream project, make some goofy little games first to get your feet in the water, then dive in once you have that experience. And don’t get too wrapped up in it either, take breaks and divert from the project every so often to regather your creative energy. Like doing game jams for example!

first of all thank you for such a LONG text oh my god T_T I cannot express in words how much this means to me and even if I knew English well, I still wouldn't be able to tell you... I use drawpile a lot for sketches and light stuff like doodles! And Photoshop for more complicated works and render. If you need brushes I have them in this post on my side acc. As for ynstbh, well... Here goes the rambling haha. I was thinking about it being either 2d platfomer /LISA was my main inspiration at the start/ or isometric 3D thing. Isometric still wins in my head because it gives some space for movement in different planes, if that makes sense, my favorite example of it being player is walking through the City and at some point you see a tower on a foreground plane just getting up and running off the screen to ambush you later haha (yes, the City is like that. nothing unusual here). When this game idea first appeared in my head, I also wanted it to have some kind of frame, medieval-inspired, around the gameplay, that would change drawings depending on the location. But now I think that's gonna be too much visual noise. And I would love to make cutscenes because I like my 3d models and I like to animate stuff, although it would take an abysmal about of time to make backgrounds.. Also ynstbh would probably have a lot of dialogues, since I really love to show characters through their interactions with each other. Notably the Devil, who loves to break the 4th wall and look right at the player in his portraits.

Either way yeah, I know about starting small. Right now I only have experience in drawing, 3d, just a little bit of code (I think I forgot everything actually lol) and I'm just really good at googling problems. I hope somewhere in the future I will have enough energy to start. My lore and characters became really important and dear to me so I really hope to make sth with them. :) If game doesn't work out, I'm thinking to give an animated short a chance, I need to put this world somewhere or I'll probably go insane. Above heights (cyberpunk au) they are co-workers, whether they get into something more serious is up to the audience. Since above heights is very moldable, and customizable even with its story and characters.

Hey jil, I wanna get back into doing art so I’m doing art studies and I really like your style and inspired by it, so i was wondering how do you draw hands/anatomy and who/what inspires your art styles and have any other tips/advice or video recommendations?

HELLO!! this ask made me smile so much, thank you!! i'm glad to spark inspiration for you <3 i'll try my best to explain it :)

hands and anatomy

lets go with anatomy first: i highly recommend working with chibis first. (if not chibi, then like, just make them look smaller and ignore the more realistic body details) chibis are a good start because theyre small, you dont have to fuss over the small details like the thickness to smallness of your arm, and legs. (<- i hated doing that back then) LMAO

i draw the limbs like very thick tubes!! it helps a lot for baby steps

believe me or not, but this discovery of mine was actually very recent ;-; i realized chibi helped so much in making poses and i started doing more chibi after that and then merging it with my actual style. which is why i can do a lot of decent fullbody poses lately :'D

when you do chibis first, you'll eventually get a grasp of how the body moves, how an arm moves, how a leg bends, so and so. once you get the gist of it, try doing more dynamic poses!

i like making a character ... for lack of a better word... "spread their legs". it makes them feel more lively! its also why i like to make my ocs/s/is in selfs.hip art "raise their leg" (see third photo) because it gives more personality like that!

one of my main inspirations for making wild poses is lupin iii. i'm very serious when i say this- lupin iii's zany ass legs helped me make my characters feel more energetic! see some examples:

even if lupin iii wasnt trying to look cool - there's a lot of flow and energy in his pose. its very fun for me to look at. btw hes my monkey boyfriend i love and miss him very much i miss my 2021 era Anyways

also also, once you start to master the chibi style, try making them bigger! like un-chibi them i think HAHAJDAHJDA just slowly add more realistic and anatomically correct features and work around with that :) thats how i kinda got around mine, going from super cute to cool :)

alright hmm,, hands. hands are something i still did not master but as long as i can draw 5 fingers im happy enough HAHAHA

the best advice i can give is just, looking at enough hand poses (even your own hand) until you understand it well and hard enough. even i'm still working on that and its only now im trying to draw knuckles. i believe you!

what inspired my artstyle/current insps:

i really like western cartoons! but i also like eastern animations! so i mixed it both!! ive always aimed for my style to be capable of following both styles if that makes sense....

right now, a few of my favorite artists are

battlegu.itar (also has a DA acc which has non guil.ty gea.r content and its worth checking out too hehe) i love how colorful and expressive the art is, and each character he draws looks so different from the other

t0.bey he's an ID.V fanartist. the artstyle is so shaped and angled. just like the previous artist, they excel in making characters look different from the others. incredibly diverse faces

oneb.adnoodle is an incredible character designer who just knows how to make creative and awesome OCs. the poses are so yummy to me and the style is so Chonky

riko.icoico and alosrovol.o ! i think theyere 2d artists creating a game but i was just there for id.v HAWUEHUHDSUFSSASFS i dont see their works often since theyre only on twt but its really gooodd ahhh <3

this one's near and dear to me, because its my lovely friend beeholyshit! ive learned a lot from him ever since we became friends, and its always so enlightening on my end to see how and what she draws. i dont say it enough but i really look up to her style and i highly recommend checking her out :)

i'm not really a video person when it comes to learning about art, i rely solely on the artwork thats given to me and i will simply look and analyze what i like so much about it and how i can put it into my pen and paper <3

general tips?

OBSERVE YOUR FAVORITE ARTIST LIKE CRAZY. understand how they drew it!! and try doing it yourself!! the next thing you know, you'll go "ohhhhhh thats how you do it"

for the sake of studying, its okay to trace. i repeat, for the SAKE of understanding, trace. do this only for your understanding but PLEASE dont go showing it around like "hey look at this, i copied it somewhere" do it for your learning experience only. dont claim it as yours. heck dont even post it youre just learning. i traced a lot when i was younger but it helped me immensely as i went on and i dont need it anymore

you dont have to follow the typical art forumla like (sketch > lineart > rendering), do whatever makes you comfortable. i hate doing lineart, i just use my sketch and call it a day :^D just do whatever feels more nicey to you. you dont have to please others by following the "formula"

its ok to draw the same thing over and over again. in fact, its probably what makes a fanartist improve so much. they draw their fav character over and over again and it gets better everytime. dont be afraid to do that
