Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
words: 1.0k+
warnings: none.
summary: after not seeing your boyfriend for months you surprise him during a cheap vs expensive sidemen video.
notes: hello loves! Here’s the request💓. This is really fluffy and cute. I hope you enjoy!!🌺🫶🏼
Tumblr media
For the past few months I've been in New York working on a very important deal for my company. Meaning that I haven't seen Harry in a long time. We facetime every night but it's obviously not the same and I really miss him. Thankfully though I have a week off and was planning on going back to the uk to surprise Harry but it turns out that he's going to be shooting for the sidemen abroad. So I decided to text Josh; since he's organising the whole video.
Josh and I made a plan. Harry was going to be on the good team for the cheap vs expensive video so I could surprise him at the destination instead. I loved the idea and he thought it would be great for the video. Tobi and Ethan will also be there along with Harry, which will be nice since I haven't seen them (or the rest of the boys) in ages.
I packed my suitcase and headed to the airport. When the plane landed I got in a taxi that took me to the villa. I said hello to Josh and the crew who were already there and Josh showed me to my room so I could freshen up since the other boys would be arriving in just a short amount of time.
Once I'd gotten changed into some more appropriate clothes for the hot weather, I went downstairs. "Hey." I sat down next to Josh, in the huge living room. He smiled at me, acknowledging my presence. "So, how are we gonna do this?" I asked. "Well, I thought you could just be standing there when they arrive. Harry's quite oblivious so I think it'll be funny since it'll probably take him a second to spot you," He explained. I nodded with a chuckle. "They should be here within the next twenty minutes." He added.
I was almost shaking with excitement and nerves as I waited. When the van pulled up outside a wide smile spread across my face. Me, Josh and the crew stood at the front door. The boys jumped out of the car and my heart practically skipped a beat at the sight of my boyfriend. We've been together for a year and are completely in love so not being with him twenty four seven has been torture. I couldn't wait to hug him, feel his lips on mine and see his cute little smile.
All three of them walked up the concrete path and when his eyes met mine he stopped in his tracks. His mouth dropped open in utter shock. "y/n! What are you doing here!" Ethan and Tobi walked towards me with excitement. But I barely noticed them. Harry finally clicked back into reality, he quickly ran towards me, wrapping me in a bear hug. My eyes fluttered closed, savouring the moment. "Hey." I whispered softly. He sniffed. I could immediately tell he was getting upset but that he was trying not to embarrass himself in front of all the cameras.
As we pulled away I smiled at him, tears forming in my eyes that I'd been holding in. "How are you here? What-" he stumbled, his voice cracking. "I managed to get a week off work and when I realised you'd be filming I thought it'd be a fun surprise." I answered him. "So earlier when you didn't answer me-" "I was on a plane." I cut in. The boys let us have a moment so stepped inside and began filming the boy's reaction to the massive villa.
Since there wasn't anyone watching Harry brought me into a soft kiss. "Fuck. I missed you so much." He whispered, our lips just millimetres apart. "I missed you too Haz and I really missed those lips." I joked. He chuckled. "You look so beautiful." He complemented, looking me up and down. "So do you." I winked at him with a cheeky grin. His eyes sparkled.
They finished filming the video and we all decided to get in the pool. Me and Harry headed to our shared room to get into some swimwear. I grabbed a bikini from my suitcase then quickly slipped it on. I turned around to see Harry sat at the end of the bed staring at my body.
I cleared my throat. "Sorry." His eyes flickered back up to my face. I giggled, walking towards him and standing between his legs. His hands immediately landed on my hips. "Come on, everyone's waiting." I slid from his grasp then walked towards the door, he quickly followed.
I sat with my legs dangling in the pool as I spoke to Tobi, telling him all about my time in New York. "So how long have you got left out there? The parties are a lot more boring without you." Tobi asked. I smiled. "Thankfully I'm completely finished next month and I can come back to the uk, all of my coworkers are at least forty and have kids so there's no gossip, no parties, basically nothing fun. It's so boring." I replied.
"Harry's been in such an awful mood since you left. I bet he's so excited for you to come back." He added. I felt slightly guilty but Harry had been assuring me that he was okay every time we'd called.
After having some dinner everyone said good night and left for their bedrooms. Me and Harry shared a quick shower to wash the chlorine off of our bodies. Both of us were exhausted and boiling so we put some underwear on and slipped into the king sized bed. Harry wrapped his arm around me, pulling me into him. He let out a soft, content sigh.
"I was speaking with Tobi earlier and he said you'd been struggling, are you sure you're gonna be okay without me for another month?" I asked. He moved so he could see my face. "I'll be okay. It's just been weird coming home to an empty apartment every day." "I know. I feel the exact same, it's so lonely in New York." I replied softly. He kissed my forehead. "One more month." He whispered. "Mhm. Just one month." I echoed.

Dark But Sweet
Maintenance Guy! Simon "Ghost" Riley x Reader AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: You just moved into a new apartment and facing the struggles of opting for cheap rent. But your building's maintenance guy, Simon, is making it worthwhile.
Warnings/Tags: 18+ content ahead, all fluff, crushing, shy Simon Riley, American writing British content.
A/N: Y'all I live in the US so I have no idea how apartment buildings work in the UK, or anything for that matter, please don't crucify me. But anyways...hope you guys enjoy blue-collar Simon fics as much as I do!!
Your new apartment was the best option out of the other ones you had viewed in the past six months of searching. "New" was a very liberal term to use for it, labeling it as "new" as in "freshly moved into". Otherwise, you would have used words like "shabby", "cheap", and "at least liveable" to describe it. It had been a few weeks since you had moved in; the place was still filled with boxes to unpack, but you had tried to make it look as organized and cozy as possible to give yourself a sense of home and some motivation to live in it.
This morning, you woke up and rose from your newly assembled bed. As you walked out of your room and into the hallway connecting to the bathroom, you felt the wet sensation of a puddle of water on your bare feet. Your eyes had still not adjusted fully to being awake, all you sensed were the soles of your feet saturated in the mysterious puddle of water. Confused and half asleep, you followed the water flow to find it was emanating from your bathroom, and when you opened the door you saw the water flowing freely from the pipes under your sink. The realization jolted you awake.
"Great! Just fan-fucking-tastic!" you said to yourself throwing your hands in the air. You stomped to your room, slipping on the wet floor a few times which made your anger seethe even more. You grabbed your phone and dialed your landlord; she was already on your most recent contacts from having to pester the older woman with complaint after complaint.
"Mornin', Karen, it's me again," you said with an exasperated sigh, "Do ya know any plumbers 'round here, by any chance?"
The woman started off by inquiring what had happened that made you need a plumber, you followed by explaining to her how one of the pipes in your bathroom sink must've come loose.
"Oh, hon, let me just call Simon for ya, he's the maintenance guy for the building."
Maintenance guy, great, so he's the guy that hefty fee goes to, you thought. At least you wouldn't have to pay extra for the plumber. Why couldn't your friends have been plumbers so you could snag a deal from them?!
"Right, and is he any good?" you asked.
"Oh, he's lovely! He'll be there soon, he lives on the first floor! Gotta go now, hon, let me know if ya need anything but also please take it easy, bye-bye now!" she said in one breath, hanging up before even finishing, seemingly being at her limit with the gripes this lease was bringing you, and bringing her as a result.
You sighed as you pocketed your phone. You made your way to the closet in your kitchen that held your mop and bucket, clipping your hair up as you got ready to start your day off by mopping up the water coating almost your entire apartment by this point.
It had been about half an hour, maybe more, since you started mopping, still in your pajamas and bedhead barely held by your clip. A film of sweat was coating your body from your labor, plus the fact that the air conditioning in your apartment was turned off, something you read on the internet.
The whole time you mumbled to yourself, scolding yourself about picking such a cheap apartment, that a few bucks wouldn't have hurt, that you should've picked up another job to afford something better, and that this stupid "Simon" guy better be worth that maintenance fee.
Your mumbling and ruminating was interrupted by two knocks on the door. You put your mop in the bucket near you, your floors were slippery but at least they were no longer flooded, at least outside of the bathroom area. You made your way to your front door, knowing you looked a mess, but who cares? Certainly not you, since you expected an average maintenance guy to show up; middle-aged, stubby, probably balding, and with jeans at half his crack.
But once you opened the door, you were greeted by the complete opposite of that description.
A very tall man stood at your doorstep. Your eyes trailed up his body, craning your neck back to look at his face. He had choppy, dirty blonde hair covered by a backward black cap and rich coffee-colored hooded eyes. His outfit was extremely casual; bleach-washed gray jeans and a charcoal, loose-fit shirt that did his visibly muscular build no justice.
You were gawking at the man, like a deer in headlights as you stood there holding the door open, practically drooling.
"Um...I--..." you stuttered "S-sorry, can I, um, help you?"
He paused, then said with a gruff voice, "Karen sent me." The man looked down at you, his hand carrying a heavy-duty toolbag moved, signaling his purpose for knocking at your door.
Oh, that's Simon, you thought, your face flaring red.
"Right! Come in, sorry!" you laughed nervously, stepping aside to let him come in.
"She said you were having plumbing issues"
"Yes! I-it's the loo, there's water everywhere," you explained leading him to your bathroom, as water was still pooling slowly on the floor from it.
You showed him with a hand pointing at the leaking sink vanity. Simon eyed it, giving you a grunt as a response. He was evidently a man of few words, he simply stepped into the bathroom, dropping his toolbag on the toilet lid, and squatting down. He opened the cabinets of the vanity and examined the pipes; another grunt from him as he diagnosed the issue.
You stood there watching him, not knowing what to do with yourself, especially with his lack of conversation or explanation. As you watched him you fixated on more details on him. You noticed his heavily inked arm, the way the veins on his forearms pulsated as his hands fidgeted with the pipes and the way his face was littered with a few aging scars. You caught yourself gawking at him again.
"S-so what is it?" you asked, snapping yourself out of your trance.
"S'no big deal, just the wrong pieces barely holdin' the pipes together," he explained, almost a mumble. "Might take a while, but nothin' major."
He had a thick Manchester accent and a deep, raspy voice. Even his voice had your checks stained red, and the man was simply talking about plumbing. You nodded at his words with an affirmative hum, as if you knew anything he was talking about.
Suddenly, you became hyperaware of what you were wearing, and what you looked like. You had expected a much less attractive man to be at your home, you hadn't cared to put yourself together. But of course, instead, you had a man like Simon, when you looked the least presentable. Your hair was ratty, your pajamas consisting of stretched-out shorts and an ill-fitting tank top, covered in a mix of sweat and water from mopping. You walked away from him in shame and bee-lined to your room, to at the very least brush your hair and wet-wipe yourself. Now you were thinking about how much sillier you looked fixing yourself for your maintenance guy! Did you think you were living in a cheesy porno or something?
You shook your head and sighed as you looked at yourself in the mirror. When you came back out, you went to your kitchen to look for something to busy yourself with, when suddenly your stomach rumbled. Right, you hadn't eaten all morning. You thought to yourself some tea would be nice, for you and also for Simon, you wanted to be a good host after all.
You turned your electric kettle on and rummaged your cabinets through your tea selection, picking out two packets of Earl Grey. You leaned against the counter as you waited for the water to boil, thinking about how the day had barely started and you were already exhausted, then your mind traveled to thinking about the man in your bathroom, daydreaming about the things you had noted thus far about him.
You were crushing on your maintenance man and you decided to act on it, unabashedly. You briefly walked back to him and asked, "How do you take your tea?" with an awkward smile. Your sudden question startled him a bit, he looked at you and gave you a polite response, saying not to go through the trouble but you insisted.
"Cream, one sugar," he said with. a hint of shyness, giving up on your persistence. Your smile grew and you nodded before running back (slipping) to the kitchen to fix him a cup.
When you came back with two cups in hand, he took the one you reached down to him.
"Thanks, love," he said nonchalantly as he sipped the contents of the mug.
Love, you repeated in your head as your stomach did a flip.
"Sorry, I should've asked which tea you liked, I have a ton to choose from. I just picked out Earl Gray, thought I couldn't go wrong with that," you chuckled nervously bringing the mug against your lips as you leaned by the doorframe, trying to make conversation with him.
"My favorite," he said, looking up at you with the mug still on his lips, taking another sip.
Your face beamed with a big dumb smile, "Is it really?" he nodded in response. "Ya look like an Earl Grey kind of guy!"
Simon chuckled lightly at your comment, "Is that so? What does that look like, exactly?"
You laughed with him, your cheeks pink with a hint of embarrassment and shyness now surging in you, "Oh I don't mean it in a bad way! Just... dunno, dark but sweet maybe?"
A hum rumbled in Simon's throat as he swallowed his tea, putting the mug down beside him and sitting on the floor casually as he looked at you again with those rich dark eyes, the hint of a cocky smirk curled on his lips, "dark but sweet, huh?"
You nodded at him, still smiling. "Just what I've gathered," you said with a shrug.
The two of you were silent for a moment, you noticed how Simon raked his eyes over you momentarily.
"Sorry, I'll leave you to it, then!" you snapped with another awkward laugh as you stumbled back to the kitchen, leaving Simon to return to his work. You were trying your best to withhold the smile tugging at your cheeks but it was impossible, you wanted to squeal like a teenage girl at the way you cheekily flirted with him and made him laugh.
As Simon tinkered in your bathroom, you occupied yourself by unpacking a few boxes with items that belonged in your kitchen and living room. It was already almost noon.
In your peripheral vision, you saw Simon standing outside of the bathroom, drops of sweat covering his forehead as he adjusted his black cap. It was still hot as all hell in your apartment.
"Sorry, love, can I bother you for some water?" he said, taking the bottom of his shirt to wipe the sweat off his face and neck. You watched hungrily as his shirt rose in his grasp, revealing his lower abdomen; his torso was toned, his v-line protruding from his jeans, decorated with light brown hairs and rivulets of sweat.
Your pupils were blown as your eyes fixated on him, his unintentionally sensual performance. You gulped, heat pooling in between your legs from the sight alone.
Simon looked at you puzzled by your lack of response. You snapped out of it as you moved to fulfill his request "Y-yeah! No problem!"
You handed the man a glass of cold water and he took it from you, gulping it down. As he did so you watched the way his Adam's apple bobbed up and down with every gulp. You were staring at him again, today. Your stomach was fluttering and the heat between your legs seethed the more you watched the man. You were pining for him at this point and it was embarrassing how hot and bothered you so easily were.
Simon let out a satisfied sigh as he handed you the glass, thanking you as you took it from him.
"I should be done soon, sorry for the delay, the fucker that put it together did a shit job."
You nodded and told him not to worry as he walked back into the bathroom. If anything, now you were worried he'd be leaving too soon. You enjoyed his company too much already. That's when you had a bright idea of how to keep him just a bit longer.
A few minutes later, Simon walked out of the bathroom with his tools in hand, announcing his conclusion with an "all done." But he was taken aback by the sight of you with a sandwich and a glass of juice in your hand, placing it on the table for him.
"Oh, I didn't think you'd be done so soon!" You said feigning innocence; it was almost theatrical, how you looked at him with pleading wide eyes like a puppy begging him to stay and eat.
"You didn't have to," he said quietly, a bit embarrassed by the act but he couldn't help the fact that his stomach rumbled, and it was hard to say no to a face like yours.
You give him a silent invitation to sit and eat by placing your hands on the back of the dining chair. "Please, it's my way of thanking you for today."
And so he gave in once more, sitting down and devouring the meal. You joined him on the nearest seat with your own. The man was famished.
"Your boyfriend's a lucky man," he said between bites, looking up from his food expecting your response, a bit of hope in his eyes maybe?
You scoffed, "Yeah, he'd be lucky if he existed!"
Simon gave you a smirk, which you returned.
"So you live on the first floor?"
"I do, helps tend to people in the building better."
"Good, I'll be needing you around a lot," you said with a relieved sigh; this apartment needed all the help it could get.
"At your service, love," Simon said, tipping his glass to you before finishing it.
You watched him and felt a hint of sadness welling in your chest. You enjoyed Simon's company; he was kind and quiet, as alluring as he was attractive. He stood up from his chair and thanked you for everything, then grabbed his tools and made his way to the door. You accompanied him, showing him out and opening the door for him.
"Thanks again, love," he said lowly, his tone was kind and a bit sultry, "I'm in 1B if you need anythin' else."
"Thank you, Simon," you said with a smile as you watched him nod goodbye and be on his way.
When you closed the door behind you, you leaned against it, finally letting out that squeal you had pent up all day. You giggled to yourself, immediately dashing to get your phone and dialing your best friend.
"You're not gonna believe this!"
A/N: Guys!!! This was too long!!!! Part 2?!?!? I was kicking my feet, twirling my hair and giggling writing this please let me write part 2!!!

hi I've been trying to beg on the fediverse for a while but it's not going very well so I thought I would try here as well >.<
putting the teal deer up front, long explanation & images-for-proof under the cut: two traumatised and disabled queers have successfully run away from abuse but now have no furniture or other household essentials, looking for another €4000* or so to get everything we need + get out of our overdraft
GOAL: €1173/4000
throne link
cashapp: £KingDionRa
DM for roommate's € paypal or my UK bank deets to do a straight transfer <3
also if you want you can get an album for your moneys, i have it up for free download on both my site and on bandcamp :3
*this is higher than the original goal I set on fediverse because I'm including the ebike and winter clothes and getting out of our overdraft (which is costing us a bit in fees every month)...but also this still isn't including new computers which we both need lol but this already feels like so much to ask for!
LONG ASS STORY:
okay so over a year ago i ran away from the uk in its entirety to stay with my internet best friend of over a decade in germany, because i'd been in and out of homelessness there for most of my adult life and just kept ending up with abusers (because that's what happens when you jump at the first chance you get to get out of a homeless shelter by moving in with people you don't know), and then running away from them because they tend to get worse and worse and eventually you'd rather be homeless again than live with someone who continually messes you up and ignores your boundaries and lies to you and bullies you and fucks with your health. and yeah after long enough of that i had zero faith in the system to help me or in local queer groups to do so either, because they're the ones who kept finding me white middle class assholes to live with who turned out to be classist ableist racist shitfaces who talked the talk but failed to walk the walk
anyway, this was not an ideal situation because my best friend was living in a very tiny (25 square meters TOTAL) apartment surrounded by asshole neighbours after also only recently escaping homelessness, but we both found our mental health was VASTLY improved by living together (see it turns out we're NOT the problem!! it was the abusers all along!!!!) despite the very cramped living space (we literally couldn't both stand in the kitchen at the same time and it only had a minifridge and a stovetop) and having to share a room despite NOT being a couple and having no privacy
but eventually that situation got worse and worse due to a literal nazi living next door who engraved swastikas in our mailbox and threatened physical violence on us (pretty sure he thought we were a queer interracial couple and was very mad about that), and things came to a head when he repeatedly called the cops on us for being too noisy at night (we LAUGHED TOO LOUD at gone 10pm omg how dare we) and kept trying to get us in shit with the landlord by making up lies about us
SO, we asked the internet (fediverse) for money to move, and managed to get enough to hightail it the fuck out of there (we actually left the country because neither of us like germany it's, surprise surprise, full of nazis) to a very cheap place in very rural finland where we can each have our own room and that we can actually afford the rent on ourselves but, being poor and desperate, we only asked for literally the bare minimum to move, and left asap, and got here with no furniture, no beds, no household necessities, no nothing.
we've been here 2 months now and have managed to acquire one (1) bed that we're having to share (again we are NOT a couple and the lack of privacy is driving us both up the wall) but we still need:
-a second bed so i can actually USE my own room that i finally have again
-bedding (inc. warm things before winter sets in! and additional covers so we can actually put things in the wash)
-winter clothes before it gets too cold
-a washing machine
-desks and chairs so we can actually sit somewhere and work
-a cargo ebike so we can get to the nearest town (7km) and buy food, rather than relying entirely on non-perishables that we can order over the internet (it's been 2 months since we've had any fresh food and that sucks)
-a new phone for roommate cause theirs broke
-a laptop or desktop for roommate cause they have nothing atm
-a new desktop for me because i only have access to an old shitty kind of broken laptop at the minute (one of the hinges is fucked and i can't close or open it without worrying it will break for good and it doesn't charge right half the time and usually takes multiple attempts to boot up and i'm scared every time that this time will be the time that it just Won't), because when i tried to fundraise for a new one like a year ago i was offered this and didn't think i could say no, but i am very worried it will break any day now, and it is Not Good for recording music on or making art or games (you kind of need to run the games to make them....)
current overdraft:
Tumblr media
our very empty living room:
Tumblr media
my very empty bedroom:

Fic: The Intern (MCU/911 ccrossover)
Finally posting this here because I have apparently lost my goddamn mind and it's all @typhoidmeri's fault.
(Also I have had an absolutely terrible last few months and could use some validation, pretty please.)
Title: The Intern
Summary: “Okay, wait, why the hell is your name popping up in a SHIELD file, of all places?”
All right, so maybe there are still one or two secrets in Buck’s closet. But in his defense, they’re all Darcy Lewis’s fault anyway, so the blame lies solely in her hands.
a/n: I plead temporary insanity, that’s the only explanation for this piece, which is probably only of interest to me and like three other friends. But, given the last few months I’ve had, I figured it was worth it to exorcise some demons and get this piece out before I chicken out.
Timeline wise (which, dear god, trying to figure out timelines for this show gives me a migraine), this takes place very early in S1. Like first couple of episodes early. As for the MCU, we’re going with a kinder, they all lived in the tower sort of a universe, no Civil War, no Thanos, etc. Because that’s how I roll.
More notes after the piece to avoid spoilers.
*
“Okay, wait, why the hell is your name popping up in a SHIELD file, of all places?”
Buck looks over Hen’s shoulder at the tablet in front of her, a page of search results front and center on the screen. Halfway down the page, past a few youtube entries of his spiderman interview, is a link to a searchable database full of files from the massive 2014 document leak that emerged when SHIELD had collapsed in on itself.
Ah, shit.
“Why the hell are you googling me?” is all he asks instead, because this is a story that he really doesn’t want to get into.
Actually, he may not even be able to get into it, considering the approximate 5 billion NDAs he   had to sign before he closed the book on that so-called vacation. None of which were his fault, thank you. He was just an…innocent bystander. Ish. He really just followed his cousin straight into the midst of trouble. So really, it was all her fault.
“Because that’s what we do with the new people around here, probie,” Chimney adds. “So what exactly were you doing in the UK in 2013?”
Buck just gives them a wink instead, because that’s what they’d expect from him. “Well, I’d tell ya, but then I’ll have to kill you.”
I mean, it’s not like people haven’t heard about aliens by now, especially in light of what happened in New York in 2012. Which was another incident that was also his cousin’s fault, though it doesn’t look like Hen and Chimney have found that link yet. So that’s one small mercy, at least.
“Just like a bargain basement James Bond.”
He’s ready to fire back another retort at Hen, but then the alarm bell goes off and it’s time to go to work, all talk about mysterious files forgotten.
(Though, to be fair, before Buck skips down the stairs he makes sure to wipe the history and cookies from Hen’s tablet. Just in case.)
*
It’s well after ten by the time Buck gets back to the frat house, which is still buzzing because his taste in roommates isn’t exactly the greatest (look, he knew at least one of them before he got there from Peru, and the room was cheap enough that it totally didn’t obliterate the meager salary he got as a probationary firefighter) and, well, it was a Thursday. Any excuse for a party, really. He doesn’t bother to hang around, just gives them a wave and heads up to his room.
He tosses his duffel into the corner, and is sure to lock the door behind him, because no one needs to witness the call he’s about to make.
With an exhausted sigh he flops down on the bed, but he can’t sleep. Not yet. Not if he’s going to speak to his cousin and annoy the hell out of her in the process. He pulls up Darcy’s entry in his phone, flips over to the text message thread.
>> hey u up?
Is what he texts, solely because he knows it’s going to annoy the hell out of her.
About ten seconds later his screen lights up with an incoming FaceTime call, followed quickly by Darcy’s familiar face. Brown hair tossed up into a messy bun, glasses, pursed lips, and definite dark circles under her eyes from some inevitable late nights.  He can’t see much of the room behind her, but there’s plenty of glass and steel and sterile white walls, which doesn’t exactly scream astrophysics to Buck, but then again what does he know?
“Hey, fireboy!” she says, far too chipper for the late hour.
“Really? That’s the best you can do?”
“It’s after one in the morning here, cut me some slack. Science and Jane Foster don’t sleep, therefore neither do I.” To emphasize the point, she picks up an iced coffee and slurps loudly on the straw, echoing loud and clear over the call. “So what’s up, cuz? Why are you calling at this stupidly late hour?”
“Did you know that my name is apparently showing up in SHIELD files online?”
“What??”
Buck nods. “Yep. My co-workers were having fun during some downtime today and decided to google everyone’s names. And there in a database of all the files from the 2014 data leak from the Triskelion is a file that mentions me, the UK, and 2013.”
“Goddamnit,” Darcy mutters, wincing and running a hand over her forehead. “What, you mean you’re not showing up as L.A.’s finest Spiderman knockoff anymore?”
“Oh, don’t start. Also, it’s after those entries.”
There’s the telltale clicking of a keyboard coming from Darcy’s side, then a few seconds later Buck sees her grimace again, looking none too pleased. “Yeah, that is definitely your name showing up in the leaked database. Well, shit.”
“Yeah, understatement. Is there anything you can do about this? I don’t exactly want my new coworkers toknow any of this.”
“I mean, the internet is forever, so I don’t know if there’s any putting this back in the bottle, so to speak.” Buck just groans at that, falling back on the pillows and falling out of the frame of the call. He pulls a pillow over his face, because this is just what he wants to hear. Really. So much. “You mean you don’t want everyone you work with to know that you helped defeat an invasion of alien elves from before the dawn of time in London one year?”
“It’s not exactly something easy to explain,” he shoots back, still offscreen and muffled by his new face covering.
“But it’s still a hell of a story.”
“A story that not a lot of people will believe, even now.” Because even though it feels like the world’s gone mad, more than once, these days, what with aliens and superheroes and killer robots, sometimes it’s still hard to believe the stories when they happen to someone they know up close and personal.
(Happens twice, really, but the first time he legitimately was just a bystander. Not the only one, not by far, but just an observer rather than a participant. Unlike the second time. That one they were well into the thick of it, hence the interviews, NDAs, and eventual SHIELD file.)
Buck sighs again, pulling the pillow off his head and sitting up so he can look Darcy straight on through the phone screen. “Are you sure - are you absolutely sure that even with all of your alleged connections that there’s nothing you can do?”
Darcy glances off camera again, followed by a few more keyboard clicks, and she chews at her lips. “I may be able to tweak the optimization so it gets those entries buried a few pages further back, get the L.A. Spiderman entries further up the list to take priority, but there’s not much else I can do.” She sighs heavily, pursing her lips and blowing air through them. “I might - and this is no guarantee at all - be able to ask someone else to help.” This statement is followed by another grimace from Darcy, and a muttered “I am going to owe Nat so much for this.”
“I will owe you so much for this,” Buck insists. “Even more than the fake ID debacle of 2007.”
Darcy smirks and jabs a thumb at herself. “Bucks County’s finest teenage fake ID forger, that’s me.”
Before any more words can be said, there’s what sounds like a small explosion offscreen on Darcy’s side, followed quickly by an “Oh, shit!” and scrabbling feet.
“Everything okay?” Buck asks.
Darcy flips the camera to the other side, revealing a slender brunette woman whacking at a smoking piece of technology with what appears to be a damp towel. “Lab’s on fire. Again. It happens a lot with our homemade equipment.” She flips the camera back to her face, rolling her eyes at the sight in front of her. A loud, strident alarm sound erupts from somewhere on her side, accompanied by rapidly flashing strobe lights in the reflection of Darcy’s glasses. “And there’s an Assemble call. Just fucking ducky. Gotta go, fireboy, we’ll talk soon!”
With that the call ends, the screen going black and silence descending on the bedroom. Buck flops back again, dropping the phone on his chest with a sigh. “That was not helpful.”
(And what the hell did she mean by an Assemble call anyway? Whatever, half the things Darcy says don’t make sense anyway, and he pushes the thought aside.)
Still, the matter of Evan Buckley’s SHIELD file never comes up again at work, so Buck figures that the matter’s over and done with.
Until it isn’t, of course, but that’s a story for another day.
*
a/n part two: So while it may not be entirely obvious here, but this universe has spun out in my head over the last few weeks and has become its own, canon divergent mash-up crossover of an alternate universe beast. This is just a little part of it, to test the waters and see the story come to life a little. A kinder, gentler universe where some characters get treated a little better than in canon (because this is fanfic and I can do what I want). Though there may be one or two hints in here about this alternate universe…
And yes, just picture Thor: The Dark World with a younger Buck in there playing the role of Darcy’s intern, with a lot more personality and a bit more sass. The movie would play out exactly the same way pretty much (except for the kissing bits because ewwww no. They are family, people.)
No constructive criticism please, gentle readers. I’m just here to have fun. Thanks for reading!

The perfect solution for Modern homes: Sliding and Bifold patio doors
Selecting the ideal patio doors is essential for improving your home's utility and aesthetic appeal. Sliding patio doors and bifold patio doors have grown to be two of the most popular solutions. By maximising natural light and offering breathtaking vistas, these cutting-edge door designs provide a seamless connection between interior and outdoor environments. We will examine the advantages and characteristics of sliding and folding patio doors in this post to assist you in making an informed choice for your house.
Sliding patio doors
Sliding patio doors are a traditional option that enhances the beauty and usefulness of any property. Here are a few of the main advantages:
Sliding patio doors use less space than standard hinged doors since they slide horizontally on tracks. They are therefore perfect for houses with constrained floor plans.
Large glass panels on sliding patio doors enable an abundance of natural light to pour into your living areas, generating a cheery and welcoming ambience.
Seamless Transition: Sliding doors provide simple access to your patio or garden while seamlessly bridging your indoor and outdoor rooms. They are therefore ideal for holding outdoor events or taking in a soothing evening breeze.
Enhanced security: The safety of your house and loved ones is ensured by modern sliding patio doors' enhanced security features, which include tempered glass and multi-point locking systems.
Bifold patio  doors
Due to their distinctive folding system and modern style, bifold patio doors have experienced tremendous growth in popularity in recent years. Here are some reasons why homeowners should choose them:
Unmatched Versatility: Bifold doors are made up of several panels that fold and stack neatly to one side to create a large opening that melds indoor and outdoor environments. Due to its adaptability, your living space can be totally opened up or partially opened up depending on your needs.
Continuous Panoramic Views: Bifold doors blur the lines between inside and outdoors by providing continuous panoramic views of your surroundings. From the comfort of your home, you may take in the beauty of your surroundings, whether it's a lush garden or magnificent scenery.
Flexible configuration: Bifold doors provide flexible configuration options that let you alter the size and direction of the opening. Depending on your tastes and the available space, you can pick from configurations like two panels, three panels, or even more.
Energy Efficiency: Modern bifold doors come equipped with cutting-edge insulation technology, like thermal breaks and low-emissivity glass, to ensure energy efficiency and minimise heat loss. A more sustainable home may result from this, as well as cheaper energy costs.
Conclusion
Both bifold and sliding patio doors are excellent options for homeowners looking to improve their living spaces. Bifold doors offer unparalleled adaptability and expansive vistas, while sliding doors give a traditional and room-saving alternative. Regardless of the choice you make, patio doors of both sorts create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor areas, enabling you to take in the beauty of nature without having to leave the comfort of your home. Use these fashionable and useful patio door solutions to improve your quality of life and transform your home right now!

tagged by @thesingularityseries thank you <3
so I've started working on the British Gangster AU for Rory and TF141, very much in the vein of Guy Ritchie/Quentin Tarantino - told in a weird timeline format, lots of hopping between character POVs, etc.
snippet gets kind of long (sorry) and is still VERY rough. Also, the MI5 officers are absolutely written to basically be Statham and Vinnie Jones... so yeah...
warning for mentions of violence and criminal activities
Thames House, MI5 Headquarters, London, UK
It's not the first time Rory Sinclair has found herself inside an interrogation room, it's certainly the first time she's been the one to be questioned however…
Hazel eyes roam around the room. It’s the same sterile grey they always are, a mirror on the wall she knows the camera is set up on the other side of recording her, cheap mic on the table picking up audio, the uncomfortable metal chairs the authorities will keep a person chained to as if they lost all rights the moment they walked through the door.
And before her are two carbon copied hardboiled officers: matching ill-fitting suits, close-cropped shaved heads, five o’clock shadows, and appearing as though they’ve both broken and have had their noses broken several times over.
Manicured nails tap against the table top, french tips clicking against fake wood laminate. One leg crossed over the other as her foot bounces in time to a tune on replay in her head to keep herself occupied. One way or another... Fixing the way her coat sits to keep out the cool air from the AC they've clearly turned up to make her less comfortable and therefore more willing to talk. Focus lazily swinging from one officer to the other like a pendulum.
Uninterested.
Apathetic.
She yawns as a set of files is tossed in front of her, skidding across the table, covers falling open, and before her sits the faces of four men.
The two officers sitting across from her put on their best good cop, bad cop performance as they give her the stare down - except one of them forgot to play soft.  Arms crossed, sullen faces, tight jaws.
Real hardasses.
“Miss Sinclair, it's in your best interest to realize that your choice of career puts you in direct contact with some less than savoury individuals,” the first officer husks. “These four especially, been keeping tabs on them for some time now. Drugs, weapons, illegal gambling, murder – all in a day's work for the 141, eh?”
She offers no reaction at all, there wasn’t a rap sheet in the world that could surprise her anymore. Her career was built on representing individuals with longer lists of crimes than that. Her stoneface response clearly isn’t the reaction the authorities were hoping for with the way they lean in towards her, cutting into her personal space, black tea on their breath permeating the air.
“Ever heard of ‘em, love?”
Rory leans back in her seat, hands sliding into her lap as her heel continues its monotonous motion. “Can't say that I have, no.”
“Then permit us to inform you, miss.”
The larger brute of an officer thrusts his finger towards the first picture, a ragged, roughly bitten nail pointing to a stocky man with a steely gaze, mutton chops, and a neck tattoo. “This ‘ere's the leader. Goes by ‘The Captain’ – Jonathan Price.”
Price
“Been at this since the age of sixteen…”
The warehouse sits quiet, still, and dark. Water-stained windows, milky and clouded, creak and rattle with the ocean air from the nearby harbour. The giant factory doors open with a squeal, and the silhouetted forms of four inky figures stand there in the night as a body hung from the rafters by chains swings to and fro, murmuring from behind a strip of duct tape. The night is foggy, and the wisps of vapour crawl into the abandoned building. Shafts of light that beam in through the holes in the corrugated metal roofing cut shadows across the faces of the visitors in tailored suits, long overcoats, and leather shoes.
Silent surroundings are broken by the tapping of soles on concrete and the rasp of a match being lit as it’s held up to the recently snipped end of a Villa Clara cigar, sparking it to life with a burning orange glow. A heavy plume of smoke is blown out, swirling and thick as it trails up towards the worn openings above – the only thing allowed to escape the oppressive stare of sharp blue eyes.
Tape is ripped from the mouth of the man swinging idly from the chains that bind him, mouth left raw and red as adhesive is torn away from skin and stubble.
“Where did you think you were, York?” he whispers hoarsely around the stub of his cigar as he stands before the hanged man, arms crossed over his chest. There’s no need to raise his voice – his figure, his name, is intimidating enough.
“I don’t know what you’re talking ‘bout, Price.” The hanged man huffs out a nervous laugh, pleading with someone who he knows off reputation alone is merciless. “Don’t know how the bastards in London handle things, but Liverpool – this is my city, yeah?” “Course it is, innit.”
If York had hands available to hold up in surrender he would. Waving the white flag in the presence of the head of England’s most powerful gang in a heartbeat. It was rare for a person to be given the opportunity to meet with Price in person and it usually wasn’t for good reason. He had people to handle these sorts of things, and more important matters to attend to. But, sometimes, a person needed reminding of just who sat at the top and how much power he wields. Power that he ruthlessly holds onto. Whether it's the Irish, the Russians, or the cartels who try to step into his territory, he offers no leeway, never an inch spared. This is his territory, a hunting ground he worked his way up to the top to attain and he won’t let that slip through his fingers for love nor money.
He says nothing more on the matter as cold, unreadable eyes look up at his prey from under a heavy brow. John doesn’t see the point in wasting his words or his breath when it's no longer necessary. His point has been made well known, and the body – when it’s found – will take care of the rest.
With another puff of smoke released, he slinks back into the shadows, Gaz at his right hand, leaving his two guard dogs to handle the rest. He can trust them to handle matters properly with little oversight. His Lieutenant, Riley, has no trouble keeping MacTavish on a leash.
