Chasind Marian Hawke rescuing missionary Sebastian from the Korcari Wilds after he’s attacked by another less friendly tribe.
Chasind Marian insisting on taking him back to the nearest village, despite the stares and insults she gets from the “civilized” folk.
Chasind Marian and Sebastian taking a liking to each other, to the disapproval of both their peoples. Marian’s tribe thinks Sebastian is just using her in an attempt to convert them all the chantry. The chantry thinks Sebastian is slipping into his old womanizing ways and that chasind woman is going to seduce him into going back down a dark path.
Chasind Marian and Sebastian eventually running away eloping from both groups to make their own lives somewhere new.
#sebhawke#chasind Hawke au#some chantry sister gasps in scandalized horror when she sees Hawke’s robes#Hawke’s tribesmen jeer at Seb’s plain chantry robes#wish we knew more about the chasind#apparently they have shamans so I’m choosing to make Malcolm a shaman and he was hoping Marian would take over one day#too bad she eloped with a chantry brother

Ooh ooh this is something I have thought about SO MUCH with regards to Gemma. I headcanon Malcolm as Chasind, making Hawke Chasind as well. Since the Chasind are related to the Avvar, I think it's fair to assume that Chasind views on magic are similar to the Avvar's, including the bit about how Avvar mages learn to control their magic through bonding with a spirit and undergoing ritual possession.
All this to say, Gemma AND Bethany went through the ritual possession in my headcanon. Gemma was bonded with a spirit of hope, specifically one known as Promise, and Bethany was bonded to a spirit of compassion, known as Mercy.
Appropriately, the demon that is most dangerous to Gemma is Despair. She came closest to succumbing in the weeks after her mother was murdered and her duel with the Arishok.
The spirits/demons that are most drawn to them are so fascinating to me because of what it says about them as people. Gemma is a girl who's been living her whole life trying to fulfill a promise - a promise for a better future, a promise of freedom, a promise to defend, a promise to do better. She's a weather witch who craves freedom, to ride the storms and revel in her magic and its potential free from care, but she's tethered by the reality that she does care. She feels yanked in all directions, by the promise of the horizon and the promise that is duty, her duty as the eldest Hawke child and her duty as Champion. She carries all that is bright and new and hopeful in Promise, as well as the weight that Promise bears. Without that, there's nothing left but Despair, and as Gemma loses her hope for the future and her determination to keep fighting by the end of Act II, Despair gains a foothold and very nearly swallows her whole.
question time returns!
if a spirit/demon were to be drawn to your oc, or your oc to them, what "flavor" of spirit/demon would that be?

3 and 4 for the dragon age ask?
Thanks for joining in the hype!
3. Do you usually play as a warrior, mage, or rogue? Which class are you planning to try first this time around? Which subclass?
I usually judge games based off of their melee handling before I go to play mages, since mages tend to be the most unbalanced in any franchise. I've played as mages and rogues and I frankly have hated the rogue gameplay in these games--it feels SO stiff, compared to AC. If I'm a rogue, I want to be fluid backstabby killshot dodge mechanics, or a really seamless bow hotswap. Maybe we'll finally get something closer to that in DA4, but it's not going to be my go-to.
So yeah, probably a Warrior chasing down a Slayer spec because big big weapon and stronk gorl makes my brain buzz. I just played Transistor for the first time and fell in love with Dishonored last year so I have "body guard assassin" on the mind, and I think an intimidating bodyguard with a giant sword is gonna be my first recourse.
4. What does your worldstate look like going into DAV?
Alright cracks knuckles here we go. There's some flexibility with DAI's timeline (we have a 10 year stretch, I'm expanding the Inquisition to take more than a year lol)
Background World State:
DAO: Warden-Commander Mahariel did the dark ritual, became Arl and Teyrn, went off to search for a Cure--and failed. He died right before Trespasser, in Morrigan and Kieran's arms.
DA2: Force/Blood Mage Hawke sided with the mages, spared Anders, and was left in the Fade; Warden Carver; Fenris romance. Fenris is off doing Wraiths of Tevinter stuff.
Inquisition: #shadows in the sun AU
Ixchel is not fully elven. She was adopted by Clan Lavellan. She becomes a 2-handed Warrior, Champion spec.
Driven by insecurity, she went to the Conclave to prove that she was useful to the Clan. At 16, she became the Inquisitor. She has no vallaslin.
I know that Solas has been running around for 10 years, but let's just say that Ixchel's Inquisition probably took more than 1-2 years lol. It was a hot mess. She is probably in her early 20s by the time Trespasser rolls around.
She allied with the Mages, Conscripted the Wardens, let Morrigan drink from the Well. Leliana was hardened. Cassandra is Divine. Celene was spared. She let Bull sacrifice the Chargers. She did recruit Sera, but they hate each other's guts (Sera is more empathetic in Trespasser, and they get along but are never friends). Spared Blackwall. She tried to be all-inclusive as Inquisitor and make every culture and faction feel at home, but mostly it was just isolating and made her feel out of place in particular, belonging to no one.
She only had high approval with Solas, Varric, Cole, Dorian, and Cassandra. She was so close with Solas that she put together he was an Ancient Elf, and the Dread Wolf, but not his plans--and he did not tell her. Mostly this just served to strengthen their close bond as mentor/mentee.
Clan Lavellan was massacred in Wycome. She never found survivors.
She does Jaws of Hakkon before Corypheus. She learns Ameridan is Dalish and goes to Keeper Hawen's clan on the Exalted Plains to tell him; Hawen offers her vallaslin. Solas warns her about what the vallaslin really are, but she takes them anyway. Then they go to face Corypheus.
After Solas vanishes and everyone moves on from the Inquisition, Ixchel travels with Morrigan and Kieran (who is only 5 years younger than her, ish). She learns some ancient elven from Morrigan and the Well, and Chasind and Avvar practices. When Mahariel returns she stays for a bit longer, but he gets sick quickly and she feels like she's intruding and doesn't belong so she leaves.
In Trespasser, she kills Bull. She frees the Dragon. She finds all he evidence of Fen'Harel's slave rebellion and the evil gods. She wants to join Solas but he refuses. She protests that she is tired of fighting, and if he lets her live, that's what he is asking her to do. He knows. He kisses her goodbye.
She enters a crippling depression, disbands the Inquisition, and formally retires. She lives in Skyhold but travels (mostly to visit either Cullen at his clinic, or Val Royeaux to visit Cassandra). While traveling, the Regret Demon manifests and destroys the rotunda. That prompts her to join the fight against Solas for real.
It doesn't last long. She burns out and tries to end her fight in her Skyhold bedroom.
Kieran appears and saves her from death, though she is permanently marked by it. He nurses her back to health and also motivates her to keep going and keep trying to save the world--not just from Solas, but from the evil gods who will one day get loose for certain.
At age 25-26, she joins up with Varric and Lace to find the fledgling Veilguard!

🪵 on the prowl for a 21+ advanced to novella partner for a canon-divergent retelling of Dragon Age: Origins 🪵 Hello! You can call me Kels or Knave (she/her, 25, EST).
. Activity will be low, expect anywhere from a reply a night to two replies a week. . I average 500 words per reply, third person past tense. It will vary depending on how many characters I'm controlling, setting and exposition, etc. etc. I don't need you to match post-for-post, but while I love internal monologue I want replies that have something tangible for my character to react to as well. . My warden will be my primary character, but I'm very comfortable playing secondary characters and I expect my partner to do the same. We can hash out whether we want control to be exclusive or split when we're planning things out . Content warning - canon-typical cosmic/psychological/body horror, gore, references to sexual assault and abuse, slavery, cults. I'm certain there's more I'm forgetting. if you have any triggers or squicks, I'd like to talk about them beforehand. For the mature content, this is NSFW, but whether we write smut or not is up to you. . Not a fan of Cullen or Cassandra, and I'd prefer they not be in this one. Onto the juicy stuff >> It's implied that the other origins die, since Duncan isn't there to intervene. I want to write in a setting where he recruits all of the origins, and then all or some of them miraculously survive Ostagar without Flemeth's help. How do they deal with the events of Origins while unaware of Alistair and the HoF's survival? My main character will be a very determined, angery M!Tabris. He's gay and romanced Zev in his save file, but romance is not a requirement. I'm just as happy roleplaying a platonic friendship/rivalry. Some ideas include;
. One of the origins, either the HoF or another straggler from Ostagar. I would love a Brosca (my beloved), I have a plot bunny about a Surana who had a messy breakup with my Tabs before the templars came, and if I found someone who wanted to play Twin!Tabris I'd be ecstatic, but all of them are good <3 . Anyone in the main party, either stumbling across my Tabs by accident while travelling with HoF/Alistair or encountered separately. Zevran, Morrigan, and Shale are my favorites. . Canon characters/player characters from Awakening, DAII, and Inquisition, inserted into the plot early by the power of au. Anders, Sigrun, Velanna, Merrill, Isabela, Fenris, Hawke & Twins, Dorian, Scout Harding, a half-asleep Solas, an itty-bitty Sera <3 <3 (Sketch?? Does anyone remember my boy Sketch???) . My idea of Tabs' flight path out of the Kocari wilds includes cutting through the Brecilian, so a Dalish or Chasind OC would be very cool to encounter. But honestly, you could play anyone you want! I just want to explore the setting of DA:O in a less linear manner, and half of the fun is pairing unlikely characters up with each other to see what the chemistry's like.
ANyway, if you're interested, I've got some character refs and a rough starter prompt in my docs so we can jump right in to planning. 👍 Either like the post or add me on discord (kellas_cat) and I'll get back to you. Thanks!

I came across this lovely art of a Hawke that reminds me of Beau again and suddenly wondered if there was anything to a Dragon Age Mighty Nein AU.
this is Dragon Age we only have three classes and four races sorry
I’m basing most of this off of the character options in the Dragon Age TTRPG, I’m a bit rusty with the lore otherwise (it’s been a whiiile)
Beau is from a well-to-do Fereldan family. They sent her off to study at the University of Orlais when she became a problem, and there she joined the DA equivalent of the Cobalt Soul. Orlesian Student background, human rogue (no specialization)
Fjord was orphaned in Antiva and eventually became a sailor. He made a deal, unknown to him, with a strange Fade serpent, which saved his life, then endangered it again. Caduceus helped him break free from its control. Waking Sea Raider background, human (half-elf) warrior (spirit warrior specialization)
Caleb was once a Fereldan circle mage and passed his Harrowing, but was trained to do terrible things by Ikithon in service of the Fereldan crown. When he broke, they made him Tranquil and placed him in another circle. The Tranquility was reversed years later by a spirit of curiosity, which possessed Frumpkin, and Caleb fled the circle, becoming an apostate. Apostate background, human mage (force mage specialization)
Yasha was from a Chasind tribe. When she betrayed her tribe’s customs by marrying for love, she fled, and in her vulnerability was possessed by a demon. A spirit of courage helped her break free and has been following her since. Chasind Wilder background, human warrior (berserker specialization)
Veth was a Fereldan city elf (though really from the countryside) whose family was captured by a powerful human apostate (Isharnai, possibly a Witch of the Wilds). Veth negotiated with the witch, essentially selling herself into slavery to free Yeza and Luc. The witch disfigured and experimented on her, until Veth finally managed to flee. City Elf background, elf rogue (marskman specialization)
Caduceus is a Dalish elf whose family has protected a hidden Dalish graveyard in Orlais for centuries. Their forest is overrun with Fade rifts, and one by one, the entire family has left, seeking other Dalish clans for help. Dalish Elf background (homebrewed to allow mage), elf mage (spirit healer)
Jester is a second-generation Tal-Vashoth from Antiva. As a child, her only friend was a spirit (some would say demon) of mischief she named the Traveler. Jester has always been an apostate, hidden both because her mother didn’t want it known that she had a child and because of her magic. Tal-Vashoth background, Qunari mage (no specialization)
Mollymauk is pretty sure he was once a Tal-Vashoth reaver, but he lost his memory, so he can’t be certain. He and Yasha were part of a Fereldan carnival when they met the rest of the Nein. Tal-Vashoth background, Qunari warrior (reaver)
bonus Vox Machina:
Grog - Avvar background, human warrior (berserker)
Keyleth - Dalish Elf background, elf mage (shapeshifter)
Percy - Fereldan Noble background, human rogue (marksman) - no guns in Ferelden but Percy could be a crossbow tinkerer
Pike - Circle Mage background, elf mage (spirit healer) - she’s given special leave, like Wynne
Scanlan - (Orlesian) City Elf background, elf rogue (bard)
Taryon - Nevarran Adventurer, human warrior (no specialization) - commands a golem
Tiberius - Tevinter Altus background, human mage (force mage)
Vax - Orlesian Exile background, human (half-elf) rogue (assassin)
Vex - Orlesian Exile background, human (half-elf) rogue (ranger) - with a bear companion, of course
flipping the narrative here, the twins are half-elves but because half-elves look human in DA, they got to live with their noble human father for a bit; they willingly exiled themselves due to how elves are treated in, well, any Thedas society

Would your warden or Hawke have actually accepted the role of inquisitor if Cassandra had located them as she’d planned to? Would they have been a good leader for the Inquisition? / If they’d been in each other’s places would they have made the same or different choices? And who would they have romanced, if anyone? / Do any of your protagonists marry and/or have children?
Would your warden or Hawke have actually accepted the role of inquisitor if Cassandra had located them as she’d planned to? Would they have been a good leader for the Inquisition? hmmmmmm tsurin tabris would begrudgingly accept, i imagine, but make it absolutely crystal clear that she didn't want to be, and anybody who called her the herald in her presence would, at best, have that comment greeted with stiff grimaces masquerading as a smile, but a lot of punching and/or snapping out curses would happen. and tsurin would be impressively good at the military strategy angle and bringing together mages and elves and the grieving and similar, but uh, be less good at having the slightest amount patience for dealing with basically everybody else. josephine would have A Lot of scrambling to compensate for this to keep her busy
and ludte hawke would initially refuse in a way that would most likely involve insulting cassandra and everything she stands for to her face, but eventually agree if convinced that she was needed. and she would hate it even more than tsurin tbh. tsurin is at least an andrastrian. ludte, is not, and would would have immediate, very bad reactions at anybody attempting to associate her with that religion at all. she would also be EXTREMELY unhappy at leading a religious army that directly benefitted the chantry, and dissolve it as soon as humanly possible. she would also be very good at the military strategy, but would piss off basicsloy everybody she was supposed to be charming at, with the exception of the chasind you can meet. she'd get along with them fairly well, as her father malcolm had been chasind, and while she doesn't remember most of the language or customs, she does still desperately want a connection to her father's culture, so,
If they’d been in each other’s places would they have made the same or different choices? And who would they have romanced, if anyone?
oh man this is an involved question lol. okay so, tsurin tabris in hawke's narrative position would have HATED aveline starting after she became the guard captain, but in the whole would make the same major decisions, with the added slant of devoting a good deal of her attention to helping city elves along with refugees. she would PROBABLY romance varric and anders, and possibly isabela. in inquisition, i'm going to hazard a guess that in general the large earth shaking choices would be the same, but details would change. like, i'm gonna yell you right now that the first person who cracked a comment about elves at the winter palace would have A LOT to gossip about, just saying,
ludte hawke as a warden would be, well. she'd be SUCCESSFUL, but she would choose harromont as king, straightup kill zathrian's ass, punch a lot of templars during the broken circle quest, and save both connor and isolde. she would infuriate alistair because she would make a loghain a warden, then proceed to die in dramatic fashion. she would romance leliana and possibly sten. as inquisitor, she would infuriate everyone all of the time, and punch even more templars. i'm gonna go ahead and say right now that she would refuse to work with a former templar. at all. no. not gonna happen. she would also not exactly be happy with blackwall or solas, but on the whole make goody good decisions. she would romance scout harding and iron bull
belluel trevelyan as a warden would involve at least 50% more shenanigans and swapping pirate stories with isabela, as well as her being an unholy terror at anyone being awful at mages. just gonna say right now that her anger would have a body count. she would romance leliana and an enby zevran, and morrigan. in hawke's position, she would be constantly mystified and frustrated but in the whole make very similar choices, just be far more popular because she isn't an obvious emotionally constipated jackass. she would romance merrill and isabela
Do any of your protagonists marry and/or have children? okay i was GONNA say that tsurin does not ever have kids of her own but does end up adopting kids in various aus, but then i remember that in my personal canon she, as a trans lady, is keiran's other biological parent, so there you go. she potentially marries, but it's on a case by case basis. ludte hawke would probably have kids down the line yeah, but i don't know how many, but they would definitely be fenris and varric's. she wouldn't ever marry anyone, but would absolutely have strong, lifelong romo relationships. belluel trevelyan does not in my canon for her, but assuming it was an au that started prior to inquisition and she was dating a trans lady or dmab enby person it's possible, as inquisition starts when she's sixty, whoops. and she also never married, but spoils her loved ones at all times

You Showed Me, Chapter 3
Fandom: Dragon Age 2 Rating: Explicit Genre: Romance/Omegaverse Pairing: Fenris/Anders Summary: Omegaverse AU. Fenris has a secret that nobody else knows. When he has to travel to Orlais to help Hawke and her new friend Tallis steal a priceless jewel, his secret becomes harder to hide. When Anders discovers what Fenris is hiding, what he does with the knowledge is not what Fenris expected.
✦ Start ✦ My Writing Tag ✦ AO3 Link ✦
Prev Chapter ✦ Start ✦ Next Chapter
The space beside the bed was already cold by the time Fenris opened his eyes. Anders was seated at the little round table off to the side of the room. It was draped in a red tablecloth. The silver platter atop it bore a half loaf of bread, butter, a pot of tea, and a silver bowl piled high with fruit. Anders was in his feathered coat, hair already tied back, picking at a pile of grapes beside him.
"The servants dropped this off, if you're hungry." He said.
Fenris reached for the pack beside the bed, silently grateful that he'd chosen the side farthest from the table. Grabbing the bottle of cologne was an innocent enough action, he decided, and he was not going to approach Anders with his early morning stink.
He was rubbing it onto his neck when Anders spoke up, "Massage oil? You know your neck probably wouldn't be so sore if you didn't sleep in your armor."
"I do not recall asking your advice, mage."
Fenris seated himself opposite Anders and plucked an apple from the fruit bowl. Eating it felt like swallowing mud. He only made three bites before he absently set it on the plate and set to work fidgeting. The silence was broken when there was a knock at the door, and Hawke's voice muffled from the other side, "Alright, boys, put your clothes on. Everyone's already downstairs."
Anders rose right away and made for the door. He stopped halfway, asking, "Aren't you coming?"
"I will in a moment."
The mage left without any further prodding. Fenris used the chance to retrieve a pinch of herbs from his bag, then headed downstairs.
There was already a crowd gathering beneath the lions, an antsy mix of Orlesian and Ferelden nobility, distinguishable only by whether or not one elected to wear a mask.
Even armor couldn't bar Duke Prosper from looking as regal as possible. He was easiest to pick from the crowd, his helmet freshly polished with a wide, fluffy feather perched atop. He was every bit the noble huntsman, and Fenris found his assumption true when a man in a cream mask and a black cap spoke up.
"Andraste's tears, Prosper, when is this going to get started?" He asked.
The duke turned with a flourish, the golden buckles on his jacket glimmering in the pale morning sunlight. "Presently!" He announced, then turned to address the crowd, "All right, everyone. You all know the tradition, yes?"
He was ridiculously styled. Red silk sashes over his shoulder and along his waist, a golden pendant of an intricate crest, leather gloves that squeaked with every movement of his fingers. He waved his hands as he spoke, which might have been annoying if Fenris weren't busy staring at the way he'd styled his beard. It was meticulously pulled into two stiff spikes jutting out from his chin. It moved up and down when he spoke.
"The first to find and slay a wyvern wins the honors at the celebration! And bragging rights, of course. Good luck to you all!" The Duke made a dismissive wave. The crowd moved at a snail's pace. Most of the fancier-dressed people were commanding small bands of sell swords. A few others simply crouched down with one another to go over plans.
Hawke strode up to the Duke, looking every bit as though she owned the place, and came in direct contact with a muscular wall. He had a face made out of angles, with Chasind tribal tattoos along his eyes and forehead that only served to make his whole face cast even more shadows. His hair was woven into corn rows and pulled back into a pony tail. A two handed battleaxe was strapped to his back. The huge, broad-shouldered body guard crossed his arms, jaw tightening.
She forced a grin, "Lovely day for a hunt, don't you agree? Very outdoorsy."
The Duke came up behind the man, and this formerly immobile mountain turned his head to listen as the Duke said, "Ah, the Champion of Kirkwall!” And then, turning to the bodyguard, stressed with a point of his finger, “These are honored guests."
The body guard uncrossed his arms and gave one final glare at Hawke before walking away, taking a natural place behind Duke Prosper.
Hawke walked up to the duke, who chuckled, "Please excuse Cahir. A polite body guard is a contradiction in terms, or so I am told."
"A Chasind?" Hawke asked, eyebrows perked, "Here?"
"Ah, yes. You are Ferelden, aren't you? You would know of his people."
"I know of darkspawn, too, but I generally don't let them breathe on me."
"Oh, he breathes on all the guests." The Duke waved his hand dismissively, "Think of it as a rite of passage!"
The way the Duke's eyes wandered to Tallis made Fenris' skin crawl. There was a spark behind his eyes that spoke a mix of emotions. Danarius used to get the same look in his eyes. He was an alpha assessing a threat, determining whether it was better to fuck it or kill it.
"And who is this lovely specimen?" He asked.
Regardless of her size, Tallis squared her shoulders and spoke like a blushing noble, "You flatter me, Your Grace."
The same gaze passed over Anders and Fenris, and the elf squared his shoulders and jaw in defense.
"And I see you brought assistance," The Duke continued, "Already armed and armored. Wonderful!"
Finally, his gaze turned back to Hawke, and the domineering aura faded from his eyes. Whether it was through a sense of kinship or ease, Fenris couldn't tell.
"I must say, your presence is a surprise." Prosper said to her, "When we spoke at the banquet you seemed ... uninterested when I mentioned our hunt."
She responded without missing a beat, "It's a favorite pastime of mine to find things and kill them, actually."
Prosper threw back his head with a hearty laugh, "So I hear! At any rate, I won't keep you from the hunt! Wouldn't want you to fall behind the others, yes?"
"The sooner we get to the celebration, the happier I'll be."
There couldn't have been more truth to Hawke's words.
"Oh I quite agree!" Prosper exclaimed, "The festivities cannot come soon enough. Good luck to you, my lady. Remember: fortune favors the bold."
Prosper turned on a heel and left them. There was a strip leading uphill where the foliage had been trampled into a suitable path for travel through the woods. Hawke was leading the party up that path when a Ferelden man stopped them with a motion of his hand. He wore chainmail-and-leather armor with a blue jerkin layered over it, silver vines and vines sewn into the fabric. Salt-and-pepper hair was pulled back, revealing a map of lines and crow's feet on his face, made even paler by his light blue eyes.
"You've come a long way to join our duke, serah." The man said, "You'll pardon me for saying that you do not seem like a hunter. A word of caution, since you are new to this: wyverns spit venom. Their victims suffer terrible pain before they die."
Hawke cocked an eyebrow at him, "Since people hunt these creatures successfully, I imagine there's a trick to learn."
"There are many tricks. It is best not to face the beast head-on. Flank them. Blind them, if you can."
Fenris stopped listening to the two Fereldens. Hawke seemed to have a knack for talking to her own countrymen. He was rolling the herbs around with his tongue, finding they'd already taken on the texture of sand. Hopefully they'd last him until the end of the hunt.
He knew Hawke was done when the man finally gave her a bow, which she returned. "May the Maker's luck grace your hunt. Be careful, serah." The man said.
Fenris was especially sensitive to the smells in the woods. Damp earth and moss, rotting foliage, he picked up the scent of rot as they passed a brush that no doubt held the remains of some predators dinner. The smell of blood didn't strike him as odd until they came upon a field soaked in it.
"Wow." Hawke whistled, "Would that be prey or from a wyvern itself?"
Tallis shrugged, "I've heard they fight for dominance. Can't be gentle."
"Maybe we can use some to draw out rivals."
Fenris sniffed, unable to shake the sense of deja vu that had overcome him the second he was in the clearing. He'd smelled this blood before, though he'd never encountered a wyvern. It reminded him of when Hawke had dragged them to the Bone Pit.
"I don't think that's wyvern blood." Fenris said, right before they heard a hellish lizard screech.
The largest dragonling was leading the flock, bellies low to the ground as they scurried down the worn pathway, eyes on the party. Fenris drew his sword and immediately lit his markings.
There was a buzz to combat that always overcame him. Time ceased to exist, his other senses turned off in favor of only the necessary ones. Sight was needed only to know the moment when he had to knock his blade into the dragonling's chest. Hearing alerted him to the soft stomps behind him so he could swivel around and strike at the one sneaking up on him. He wasn't sure at what point he wound up swallowing the herbs under his tongue, nor how much dragonling blood managed to splatter on him. He was not thinking of anything other than defense and attack when the juvenile wyvern shouldered its way into the fray.
Broad shoulders and thick muscles set this lizard apart from its distant cousins. Fenris and the dragonlings turned in unison, and Fenris charged for the wyvern before Hawke could shout, "Wait, Fenris!"
The wyvern flared, hissed, and sprayed a stream of bile onto its attackers. Fenris closed his eyes as it sprayed against his face and shoulder, already knowing where his sword was going to land. He thrust his sword into the wyvern's shoulder, muscle bulk and scaly coat sending the blade sliding off to the side with barely a scratch on it. A handful of dragonlings thrashed behind Fenris, while the rest swarmed the wyvern like ants to a corpse. Fenris didn't see where they went before he collapsed, his head swimming.
He felt the cooling sensation familiar with Anders casting a healing spell. It took care of the scratches and blisters from the battle, but did nothing for the knotting in his stomach nor the fatigue that seeped into his lungs. Just breathing suddenly took a lot of effort.
Anders knelt next to him. He knew him by scent - that stupid enticing scent he had to sleep next to the past two nights. Bony fingers pressed into his forehead. He felt the wash of another spell, a familiar scan Anders did to diagnose.
Hawke and Tallis came up behind them just as Anders concluded, "He's poisoned."
Anders had a sort of focused trance that overcame him when he started healing. With the diagnosis, he immediately removed the water skin from his belt and soaked a handkerchief in it.
"That hunter said something about a treatment." Hawke said.
"Andraste's mantle, drakevein, and winterberry." Tallis added, "I saw some drakevein and andraste's mantle growing along the west half of the hunting grounds. Winterberry shouldn't be too hard to find, either."
Anders was delicately rolling Fenris onto his back while he said, "I can brew it if you hurry, every second counts."
They didn't need any more coaching. In seconds, Fenris and Anders were alone in the clearing. "Fenris if you can hear me, I need to get as much of the venom off you as possible."
Fenris groaned an incoherent response.
Anders wiped at his eyes and mouth first, deep strokes of wet terrycloth that made Fenris scrunch his face. He cleaned his cheeks, chin, and as Anders started to clean his neck a primal instinct made Fenris reach up and swipe feebly at Anders' hand. The venom had drained so much of his strength that he couldn't fight it when Anders shrugged off his hand and chided, "Quit it, I'm almost done."
The mage leaned in closer, and Fenris flinched as the cloth passed over the tattoos on his neck. Anders cleaned there, and along the base at either side of Fenris' neck. In a single horrifying second, Anders steady breathing turned into inhaling from his nose, then a sniff, and a confused furrow of his brow. Another deep inhale.
Shit.
"Fenris ... are you in heat?" The mage breathed.
Anders looked up, eyes wide, and blurted, "You're an omega?"
Adrenaline and panic gave Fenris the strength to raise his arm and push Anders away, though the mage didn't budge an inch from where he was kneeling over Fenris. "Don't." Fenris whispered.
Emotion behind Anders' eyes snapped into place, and he blinked until he was focused again. "Knickerweasels." He muttered, setting a hand over Fenris' forehead, "You're burning up."
Anders removed his coat, and covered Fenris in it. Uncorking a potion, he held Fenris' head up with one hand while he poured the potion into his mouth. It went down bitter and did nothing for his nausea, but he felt some of the chills in his body lift when it took effect.
Anders remained blessedly silent until footsteps hailed Hawke and Tallis' return. Anders immediately stood, meeting them halfway across the clearing. "Don't come close." He said, "I ... can't be certain I cleaned up all the venom. Can't risk you two getting sick as well."
Hawke cocked an eyebrow at him while she handed over a bundle of herbs. "Is he going to be alright?"
"Should be, but I'm going to take him back to the room after this. The fever's taking a lot out of him. Will you two be alright on your own?"
Tallis scoffed, setting her hands on either hip, "It's just a wyvern and a bunch of dragonlings, what's the worst that could happen?"
"I think we'll be fine." Hawke added, "That hunter mentioned it wasn't uncommon for the hunt to last a few days. We might not even get to a wyvern by night fall."
They said their goodbyes, and he returned to Fenris. He tore apart the herbs and stuffed them into the empty potion bottle, then added the last of his water. A quick fire spell had the water inside steaming, and in a few seconds a potion began to brew. Propping Fenris' head up with one hand, he poured the potion into his mouth.
The relief was immediate. The potion hit his stomach and spread out like ripples. Warmth spread, to his fingertips, and with it the ache was gone, and he opened his eyes to see Anders bent over him. Blonde hair falling about his face, wrinkled on his furrowed forehead.
"Mage ..."
"It's okay. I sent them away."
Anders was already working a hand under his arm, hoisting Fenris up. The more Fenris breathed, the more his grip on the situation returned to him. He was sapped, but his eyes were focused and he could move without pain.
He got to his feet with Anders' help. "Grab your sword, we'll head back to the room."

Its super late but today me and cole added Hawks and Natsuo to the MTA au so
Natsuo was born in the magi tower but since he wasn’t a mage nor he had any special ability that could interess Endeavor and his goals and also he had no intentions om becoming a templar, he was cast out of the Tower when he was a young teen (around 13 years old). He lived mostly on the streets and at some point found himself in trouble. He was saved by the Grey Wardens and joined them, leaving Ferelden till the blight started and he finally managed to be together with his family again.
Hawks is Chasind and was kidnapped by the Templars when he was rather young - like around 8 years olds - and forced into the Circle. He already got some sort of affinity with animals by that time tho and spent the rest of his time in the Circle either trying to escape - succeeding twice but being brought back because he didnt destroy his phylactery - or using his abilities to learn how to change form into a hawk. By the time he mastered his shapeshifter abilities he already became quite the nemesi of Endeavor, being one of the few mages who dared to stand up to him and that even managed to ridicule him. They were thinking of making him tranquil when Hawks finally managed destroy his phylactery - controlling a templar through blood magic - and escaped in his hawk form. Endeavor chased him but couldn’t find him for months so he lied, saying he found him and killed him to keep his honor in the Chantry.
Hawks went back to the Kolcari Wilds and it was there that he met a little orphan Tokoyami, took him with him and taught him everything he knew about magic and shapeshifting.
Also Hawks and Natsuo are together, continuing the memorable tradition of Enji’s kin to just fucking become apostates and/or falling in love with apostates.

About my OC
I was tagged by @penthesilea1623, and I’ll talk about my canon Inquisitor, Japhra Cadash, a dwarven, dual-wielding rogue from Markham.
I tag @godihatethisfreakingcat, for any of her OCs from Sons of Jerusalem or There and Back Again... and that’s the only other fic writer I can think of at the moment - hi, Seas!
I’ll also tag @vaderslocker if they have any OCs they want to talk about :)
Feel free to retag me if you want to know about any of my other Dragon Age OCs - August Lavellan (son of Fenris), Elakshi Lavellan, Lainie Hawke, Nathaniel Trevelyan, or Wonder Adaar
GENERAL
Name: Japhra Cadash
Alias(es): Honeybee - courtesy of Varric
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Place of birth: Markham
Spoken languages: Common, Dwarven, and the Carta equivalent of Thieves’ Cant (a bastardized version of formal Dwarven, with bits of Antivan, Orlesian, and Common thrown in)
Sexual orientation: demisexual, but no specification as to her partner’s gender or sexuality
Occupation: In canon, she’s the Inquisitor, but I have modern AUs where she’s a guidance counselor, where she’s a member of the Bull’s Chargers, and where she’s a photographer.
Eye color: Chasind yellow
Hair color: Auburn
Height: 4′8″
Scars: She has a very deep gouge through her eyebrow, from an injury she received when she was thirteen. There is another scar running through her lip that she got on her first lyrium run through the Vimmarks. She has other assorted scars on her arms and legs from combat, but they are less notable.
Burns: Nothing significant.
Overweight: No.
Underweight: Not currently, though she was underweight for a while while she lived on the streets for a short period during her childhood.
FAVOURITE
Color: Red
Hair color: Blonde
Eye color: Gold (can you guess what - or rather, who - I’m getting at, here?)
Music genre: Fast-paced reels and things you can dance to. She’s not a huge fan of ballads.
Movie genre: Action
TV show: She would binge Hard in Hightown if it were out on Fantasy Netflix.
Food: She likes fried foods, particularly potatoes.
Drink: Spiced ciders and ales
Book: She doesn’t read much in public - reading and writing not being her strong suit - but she’s been known to swipe a history book or two from Dorian’s “finished” pile in Skyhold. He pretends not to notice.
HAVE THEY
Passed university: No university in canon, but I’ve written a story where she’s finishing up her degree.
Had sex: Yes
Had sex in public: No
Gotten pregnant: No (though I have an AU where she is pregnant at the start of the game, and delivers a month or two before Corypheus attacks Haven)
Kissed a boy: Yes
Kissed a girl: No
Gotten tattoos: No
Gotten piercings: Yes.
Had a broken heart: Yes. She lost her sister, who was addicted to Lyrium, when she (Japhra) was thirteen years old. They had a physical altercation when her sister was hallucinating while under the influence, and after Konna came to her senses, she left on a job, and Japhra never saw her again.
Been in love: not yet
Stayed up for more than 24 hours: yes
ARE THEY
A virgin: No
A cuddler: No - but she becomes one with time.
A kisser: No
Scared easily: Depends on the situation.
Jealous easily: No... but she doesn’t think she deserves very much of anyone’s attention, either.
Trustworthy: If somebody has her loyalty, she’s got their backs one hundred percent. But if she doesn’t trust them, she’s willing to manipulate or keep them out of her way as needed.
Dominant: When she’s angry or worried, this side of her comes out to the forefront.
Submissive: She rarely, if ever, allows herself to be this vulnerable.
In love: Not at the moment. But soon...
Single: At the start of Inquisition, yes. By the end of Inquisition, not so much.
RANDOM QUESTIONS
Have they harmed themselves: No
Thought of suicide: Yes, though I do not plan on going into this deeply in the story.
Attempted suicide: No
Wanted to kill someone: Yes. The Dasher, her boss in the Carta whom she worked for and eventually escaped from.
Ride a horse: Only once she joins the Inquisition, and even then, she resolutely sticks with ponies.
Have/had a job: Carta enforcer, and later Inquisitor
Have any fears: Becoming the person she used to be before Inquisition, taking on some of the Dasher’s “leadership” tactics, and being betrayed by people she trusts.
FAMILY
Sibling(s): Konna (older by nine years, deceased)
Parents: Aaloka Ghosan (mother, who left soon after Japhra was born), Sandar Cadash (father, deceased)
Children: none
Pets: Astyth Cadash, a silver-haired mabari that is literally the size of a cart-horse. Astyth is named after a personal hero of Japhra’s, the paragon Astyth the Grey.

The Lowlander (avvar au)
Chapter Thirty-Two
Pairing: Cullen Rutherford/Elora Trevelyan
Word Count: 4450
Ao3 Link
Previous/////Next
Note: Heeeeeeeeeey, so this kinda happened without me fully intending it to. I sat down to start writing a little more on it and wound up writing the entire chapter. Which isn't a bad thing, it was just more surprising to me given how long it's been. And I know it's been a long time. I do see all of the reviews and comments you all leave on here and I want you to know that those were a huge motivator in making me sit down to write this next chapter.
I still don't know if updates will be regular and if they do become a bit more frequent it won't be anything like they used to be. My attention is divided between fandoms, but this story is special to me and I will continue to poke at it to give it and you all the ending it deserves. So hopefully this was worth the wait and thank you all for your kind words and for being patient with me. It means the world to me!
Sitting before the fires, Cullen watched them lick at the wood. The mages had already stoked them high, the heat reaching him and making sweat bead on his skin. The clan was gathering and the tension that had been building within the hold seemed to be absent as they came together. For that he was at least thankful. He’d seen the strain as he’d walked the hold, noticing exactly where the tension seemed to be the greatest. But he’d relied mostly on the hunters and Hawke for information on what was happening since his decision. He hadn’t wanted to hide but if he’d wanted to dance he’d needed to rest.
And, by the gods, he wanted to dance.
His gaze swept over those that were gathered and his mouth turned down. Neither Elora nor his sisters were present but the sun had only just set. There was still plenty of time for them to join them. He’d been kicked out of the house earlier, given the difficult task of getting Leo calmed enough before he was herded off with the other children. He’d nearly run out of stories to tell before the boy had been satisfied. Although, the little boy had still managed to wrangle a promise out of his uncle for more come the morrow. It had been painfully obvious that the boy had known that Cullen would be leaving soon to visit the other holds and he’d been desperate for as much time with his uncle as possible.
“Why the heavy sigh, Thane? Are you not excited to claim your Lowlander again?”
He half turned to look at the woman standing near his seat and grunted at the grin on her face. “Liv.”
“Aye, that is my name and not the answer to my questions.”
“Excitement has nothing to do with what I’m feeling right now,” he said lowly.
“You worry about the future, as you always do.”
Cullen looked back at the flames. “One of us has to.”
She scoffed. “I worry but in my own way, Thane. We both cannot be seen as worried or the whole of the clans will fall to ruin around us.”
He knew that. He’d always known that. Hawke had her own way of doing things and the way she cared for the clan was one. Because he knew she did care. If she hadn’t, she would have left them long ago. “We leave the day after tomorrow,” he said quietly.
“Aye, the clans are impatient for you to bring the ‘saviour’ to them.” Hawke nearly snorted the word. “They are not going to like that you plan on being back before the next new moon.”
“I do not care,” he said flatly. “I am not missing the last dance because they want to parade in front of her, to try to woo her away from the hold.”
“Not that it would work,” Hawke said. “Elora has made this her home and gods have mercy on any who try to take her from here.”
“Is he sulking already?”
Cullen’s head turned at the voice and he levelled a look at his sisters as they joined them. Mia simply returned it and Rosie looked away with a giggle. “I am not sulking.”
“I have known you your entire life, Cullen. I think I would know if you were sulking.”
“Gods save me from the females in my life,” he muttered.
Hawke laughed lowly. “Not the greatest plea when you are preparing to dance for another female in your life,” she pointed out.
He didn’t get to say anything to her before she walked toward where her kin were already seated. The light from the fires made the white and red swirls on her skin practically glow as she moved and several heads followed her. Not that any of the men in the hold ever had the balls to dance for their Chasind auger.
“You have nothing to sulk about,” Mia said, pulling his attention back as Rosalie wandered off to join her friends. “She will be here soon enough.”
“Why didn’t she come with you?”
“She wanted a moment to herself. This is all new to her, Brother, and we can give her what time she needs to prepare herself for what is coming, can we not?”
“Of course,” he said quietly but there was an itch under his skin. They wouldn’t be the first to dance so it wasn’t as if she needed to be here at this moment. But he wanted to see her, wanted to see the paint on her skin that showed that she had accepted his first dance and was waiting for the second to start. “This used to seem simpler.”
Mia laughed softly and patted his arm. “It is easier when you are not the one waiting for your heart to join you. It is easy to judge and stand back when you are not dancing around the fires. But she will come soon enough then it is only one more moon, Brother. You have the patience for that.”
He liked to think that he did. Before her he would have sworn that he did. But falling in love had tossed a great many things on their asses. Most of all him. The corners of his mouth kicked up and he settled a little more on his seat. She would come, they would dance, and he would take her back to their bed.
Maybe. Provided they got that far.
A grunt slipped out of him when a fist slammed into his shoulder and he glared at Mia.
“She’s not here yet,” his sister told him sternly. “Get your mind out of your trousers.”
“No,” he said, still glaring at her.
She held her look before she laughed delightedly. “Oh, Brother, I am glad for you,” she murmured. “I am glad this happened for you.”
“Mia,” he muttered, swinging toward embarrassment now.
She patted his shoulder before taking a step back.
“Where are you going?” he asked, frowning as she stepped off the platform.
“Cullen,” Mia said patiently, “you’re waiting to dance on your second moon with Elora. That seat beside you isn’t mine anymore.”
“We haven’t finished dancing yet.”
“You will, Brother. We all know it and soon she’ll sit there. Ripe with your child, gods willing.”
“Gods willing,” he echoed. He watched her walk away from him, unease filling him again. He couldn’t remember a time when he’d ever sat up here by himself. Only a handful of people ever joined him but he’d never been alone. It didn’t matter that she was right, that Elora would soon sit with him; tonight he didn’t want to be by himself.
But there was no helping it as more of the hold came to the fires, filling the seats and the air with the sounds of their conversations. For the latter, he was glad because this was the first dance in a long time that their Chasind brethren had come to and he had wondered how tonight would go. Yet for the moment, it seemed that all was well.
Catching the gaze of one of the elders, he gave a shallow nod. The sun was fully set now and it was time to welcome the ones that had come of age since the last moon.
The drums that had been idly playing switched, grew more focused and pronounced to draw a hush from the gathered clan as the new adults joined them. He watched as the young women tittered between each other, some with shawls draped around their shoulders and others already proudly baring themselves. The young men were no different, chests puffed up as they walked before the fires and playfully pushing each other.
Their smiles barely dimmed as they passed by him before they found their own places around the fire to the sounds of the drums and the loud thumps from hands and feet of the clan.
The sounds didn’t end there, the drums wouldn’t stop until the last dance had been done and the clan didn’t bother being quiet anymore. Banter and teasing rose up; laughter and the occasional shout of encouragement. But no one rose to take the first dance.
The sweat that was clinging to his skin wasn’t solely from the bonfires. Cullen knew that much, his nerves coiling tighter the longer his Lowlander didn’t show. More than that, he could feel the weight of the clan’s gaze on him as he waited, as they all waited to see what would happen. It didn’t seem to matter that Thane wasn’t supposed to claim first dance; the clan had apparently decided that this new moon he would and none were dancing until he did.
Looking over the gathered crowd, he found most of his family but-
“Thane!”
What noise had been around him died at the shout, even the drums faltering and stopping as all turned to look.
Cullen straightened in his seat, frowning as he watched the group approaching him. “Branson,” he said lowly, noticing the tight grip his brother had on one of them and the way Elora and Delrin trailed a few steps behind him. “Svana.”
She jerked on her arm, trying to rip it out of Branson’s hold but he refused to let go.
“What is going on?” he asked shortly.
“The dark of the moon is a safe time where all are protected,” his brother said tightly, his voice pitched enough for those gathered to hear.
“We all know that, Branson.”
“Svana broke the laws of our people. She inflicted harm on the Lowlander.”
Cullen heard the murmurs that broke out at that before they were almost immediately hushed but his attention had shifted to Elora. She’d been staring at the ground before but she was meeting his gaze now. “How?” he demanded.
“I do not know how it started, only how it ended,” his brother practically growled. “Svana attacked her with a blade.”
“I was provoked!” Svana snapped. “The Lowlander bitch struck first!”
Elora’s eyes narrowed and moved to look at the other woman. “If I’d struck you first, you wouldn’t be standing here,” she growled, stepping forward before Delrin pulled her back.
The only sound filling the air was that of the fires now but it only lasted for a beat.
“See?” Svana said. “She speaks of violence when I only defended myself!”
“You entered my home with a blade and threatened me,” Elora said, shrugging off Delrin to take that step toward the other two. “You told me I had no place in the hold and you were going to make sure I never had one. You attacked me!”
The single step had put her more into the firelight and he could see the slash along her cheek. Svana had cut her? The low growl rumbled out of him at the sight of the wound. “How did she get inside my home with a blade?” he demanded of Delrin.
“She lied, spoke of wanting to make amends before the pair of you danced again,” the warrior said tightly. “I was a fool to listen to her but I thought that she had more sense than to attack someone under Rilla’s moon.”
Cullen hissed out a breath, hands curling around the arms of his throne.
“She has you under her spell!” Svana shouted. “Like the Mad, you’ve fallen under the spell of a Lowlander and this one will ruin our hold! She’s already ruining our clan and she must go!”
That had people whispering again and he sank back into the chair, trying not to glare at this woman.
“You’re the one that’s delusional,” Elora snapped. “If anyone’s mad, it’s you!”
“Thane,” a low voice-one of the elders-said from nearby, “this is a serious claim. All are offered safety on this night, no matter from where they hail, and to break that is to incur the wrath of the gods.”
The whole of the clan knew that and he bit his tongue to keep from reminding the man that his family knew that better than any other. “What are you saying?” he finally said.
“This is too close to you, involves the woman you’re dancing for. It pains me to say this, but you will not have a clear head on this decision, spell or no.”
“I haven’t-” Elora broke off with a growl when Cullen sharply motioned at her.
It didn’t matter that he knew she’d cast no spell; the elder was right. “Then do you have a suggestion for an impartial judge?”
The elder stared at him, nodding, but it was another voice that answered.
“I do.”
Everyone turned to look at Hawke as she stood near the fires. “Augur,” Cullen said lowly.
She didn’t even glance at him, her focus on Svana and Elora. “You both claim that the other threatened and carried out violence. Do you stand by your words?”
“Aye!” Svana spat. “The Lowlander is mad!”
Elora glared at her, fists curling at her sides. “Yes,” she said simply but the word was harsh.
Hawke looked between them. “Thane may be partial to who he’ll back and others may accuse me of it as well. But the gods would not lie about this.”
The entire hold inhaled as one and Cullen felt his own breath rattle in his lungs. But his voice failed him when he tried to protest.
“Svana. Elora,” she said firmly. “The gods can determine who among you is lying if you open yourself to them. Will you?”
Cullen stared at Elora as she shifted on her feet, tugging at the edges of the light shawl around her. “What does that mean?”
“I will summon two gods and they will join with you, will be one with your thoughts, and know who is lying. They will take the life from the liar as soon as their deception is found.”
Elora took a small step back, her expression shifting to one of fear before she schooled her expression. But he saw it.
“Will you, Elora of the Lowlands, offer your body to one of our gods to find the liar between you?” Hawke asked.
She hesitated, licking her lips, before she nodded. “Yes,” she said softly, her voice wavering. “Yes,” she repeated more firmly, a small glare on her face.
Hawke took a step, one hand raising toward her and the fire leapt for a moment. “Will you, Svana of Sky-Bear Hold, offer your body to one of our gods to find the liar between you?” she repeated, her gaze swinging to the other woman.
“I’ve done nothing wrong!” she insisted. “The gods favour her because of her fucking hand and the way she spreads her legs for the thane!”
Hawke froze, pale eyes blazing from her painted face. “Will you offer yourself to the gods, knowing a lie will destroy you?” she asked.
Cullen shifted on his seat. He didn’t know what Hawke was doing but her voice was making his gut tighten and all he wanted to do was squirm in response to it. He’d known her for years, knew when she shifted from the dry wit of the leader of the Chasind to augur of the hold, but he’d never heard her speak like this. Was it because his judgement was called into question? Or was it because someone had broken one of their most important laws?
“Svana, I will not ask you again.”
“No!” she cried. “The gods-”
“Silence!” Hawke snarled and shrieks broke out around the fires as they roared to twice their height. “If you will not allow this, you admit your guilt in attacking the Lowlander on the darkened moon.”
“I didn’t!”
Hawke slashed through the air with her hand. “Your words are meaningless before the gods,” she snapped. “You have forfeited your voice in this! Judgement falls to you, Thane Lionsbane.”
Cullen wasn’t sure he wanted to speak after all of that, especially since the fires hadn’t calmed. “Hawke.”
“This has festered for too long, Thane. Deal with it.”
His lips pulled back in a snarl at the way she said it but he moved his attention to Svana. “How many times have you tried to interfere with this?” he asked lowly, trying to find the words he needed. “How many times have you tried to come between me and the Lowlander?”
Svana opened her mouth before her eyes went wide as nothing came out.
“Her voice is forfeit,” Hawke said simply when he looked at her.
He nodded. “You know the laws of our hold, of our people,” Cullen said. “Violence on Rilla’s night is met with banishment from not only our clan but all Avvar.”
She shook her head, mouth working frantically and silently.
“Your crime is not only against the hold, but the Lowlander as well. If she wants it, you will be bound to her for the rest of your life, no longer a part of the hold but a servant to her and her line.”
“I don’t want it,” Elora snapped before he could even ask.
“Then banishment is all that remains,” he said, pushing out of his chair.
Svana tried to shrink back but Bran had hold of her still.
“You are no longer part of this hold,” Cullen told her, raising his voice to be heard over the fires. “You are no longer Avvar. When the sun rises, all will know what you have done when they meet you. This last night you will sleep in a cell, no longer a member of this clan, and tomorrow you will be branded. You will leave our hold and never return. You will be killed on sight if you do return.”
She was crying now but even that was silent.
“You were warned,” he said, dropping his voice so only those close would hear. “You were warned and you still chose this. You have no one to blame but yourself, Svana. Do not return here ever again.”
She started to reach for him, her expression pleading.
“Get her out of my sight,” he told Bran.
His brother barely waited for him to finish before he was hauling Svana away.
Cullen flicked a look at the fires before looking at Hawke. She shook her head and pointedly looked at Elora.
She was doing that?
“Elora, look at me,” he said, taking the few steps down from his throne.
She sucked in a short breath before turning to him.
The cut was shallow and followed the line of her cheekbone. Any higher and it could have taken her eye. She could have shielded, could have healed it. How had Svana even gotten that close to her? Why hadn’t her gods done something to protect her? The questions piled up on his tongue but none of them came out. He finally swallowed the lot of them and looked over her shoulder at the fires.
His Lowlander barely turned to look, her brows drawing together.
He watched as the flames slowly receded, whatever magic fueling them returning to the owner.
“I haven’t cast any spell on you,” she muttered from between clenched teeth.
Perhaps not intentionally but he knew what she meant. “Do you still want to dance?” he asked quietly.
Her lips pulled back in a snarl as her head snapped back to him. “Yes!”
His sides strained as he fought not to laugh at how loudly she had said that. Reaching out, he brushed his fingers over the thin trail of blood on her cheek. “Sit, my Elora,” he said softly. “Sit and let the clan calm so we can dance.”
Elora stared at him before she shook her head. “No,” she said this time, shrugging off the shawl she’d had wrapped around herself.
His tongue had been heavy before but now it was fat in his mouth, choking him as he stared at the red and golden swirls across her skin. The fires made the paint glow, her skin burning as she stood before him naked to the waist. “No?” Cullen pushed out, desire coiling in his belly as he didn’t bother trying to stop his stare.
“I’m not going to sit when we’re both right here,” she said. “Dance with me.”
Cullen stared at her and watched as her chin lifted. Stubborn Lowlander.
He didn’t bother looking at the rest of the clan; he took a step back and shrugged off the cloak he’d had draped around his shoulders. As it hit the ground, the first sound of the drums came back, their owners knowing what was about to happen. This was Rilla’s night and violence or no, they were here to dance.
Elora started to step toward him but he moved another pace back and shook his head. “You’re going to make me wait?” she whispered.
“Only fair,” he purred. “You made me.”
“That wasn’t my….” Her voice died as he didn’t hesitate, already moving in front of her. “Cullen,” she breathed.
He didn’t bother hiding his smile as he danced, making her spin in place as he moved around her. He’d already decided at the beginning of the night that he couldn’t make this dance long, that if he wanted to actually make love to her tonight, he couldn’t spend all his energy at the fires. But that didn’t mean he was just going to give in to her.
The drums were loud now as he spun and twisted around her. He was close enough to hear the little catches in her breath and they made his heart skip in return. Svana be damned. Clan be damned. He was going to dance with Elora. He was going to take the Lowlander as his wife.
As he started his third circle around her, both hands reached for her and hers immediately smacked into his. He stumbled a little as she pulled him to her and a low laugh spilled from him. “Impatient?” Cullen murmured.
“I want you,” she whispered, her hands sliding up his arms to gently rest against his shoulders.
He slipped one hand behind her, cupping her ass to pull her closer to him. But the other reached up, catching her left to pull it away. Threading their fingers together, he said, “Dance with me.”
She didn’t look away from him as he led her around the fires. She swayed against him, taut nipples brushing over his skin. There was no hesitation in her now as they danced. Her steps were sure even as they made them up as they went along.
Her lower lip disappeared into her mouth, her moan barely muffled as he pulled her along his thigh. She squeezed him, rising on her toes to get away from him, and this time he let her. Her fingers flexed on his as they passed by the fires, the flames jumping again.
“Easy,” he purred. “I’ve got you.”
Pale eyes stared up at him. “Aren’t I supposed to have you?”
He tipped his head slightly. “If you want,” he said lowly.
Elora took a breath and her palm was shaking as it pressed to his chest. Her touch lingered before she took a step back from him, still holding his hand.
He followed her, stopping when she did.
Not looking away from him, Elora backed away from the fires, holding his hand firm in hers.
The clan was silent as he continued to follow her, leaving the light behind them. When they were fully in shadow, he didn’t stop when she did, winding his arms around her. He murmured her name as he bent over her, kissing her upturned mouth.
Her sigh washed over him, lips parting and tongue sneaking past his.
Cullen caught the back of her head, fingers threading into her hair while the others fanned against her lower back. He moved them deeper into the hold as he kissed her, barely hearing the drums over his heartbeat in his ears. He stopped when they bumped into something and pinned her to it.
His blood felt like it was on fire but he’d had nothing to drink tonight. His passion was his own but there was more lurking under it, emotions that had no place in this night. “Elora,” he whispered, tearing his mouth from hers. He didn’t wish to speak, had other plans for his mouth, but they needed to set this aside.
“No,” she mumbled, rising on her toes to try to kiss him again.
“Shh,” he soothed. “We have the whole of the night for ourselves.”
“I want more.”
A helpless chuckle left him at that. Lusty Lowlander. “Shh, Elora, love, listen to me. I have to ask you something.”
“You want to talk?” she asked, incredulous.
“Only for a moment,” Cullen murmured, his hand slipping around to cup her cheek. His thumb skimmed under the cut. “You should heal this.”
Her brows drew together in the dim light.
Something hummed against his skin and he watched as the wound slowly sealed itself until the only trace of it was the blood on her skin. “Why did you hesitate?” he asked, steeling himself and looking in her eyes. “When Hawke asked you to join with the god to prove your guilt or innocence, you were afraid. Did you lie?”
Elora stared at him before she shook her head. “We talked about this,” she said in a small voice. “About possession.”
They had but it had been brief. She hadn’t wanted to talk about it while he’d been recovering. Then there’d been no time with everything that had happened in the hold. “Aye, but your reaction. Love, if you had nothing to hide why the fear?”
“They kill any mage it happens to,” she whispered, voice trembling. “They kill any mage they suspect it’s happened to.”
“Elora….”
“I know it’s different here, I know that,” she continued quickly. “But…I grew up in the Tower. Possession is a death sentence and not always the nicest death you can have. Even if it’s different here, I saw what happened to you and…I didn’t lie. She struck me, but a lifetime of constant fear of possession….”
Was not easy to let go. Tipping her up to him again, he brushed his lips over hers. “Then you’re braver than you let on, Lowlander.”
She huffed. “I was terrified,” she corrected.
“Are you still?” he murmured, shifting his leg back between hers.
Her breath shivered out of her as she pushed down on his thigh. “No.”
He smiled slowly. “Tomorrow we can talk more about this,” he told her. And they would. She was too strong of a mage, too closely tied to the gods of the hold now to have that fear unaddressed.
“And tonight?” Elora whispered huskily.
“Tonight we dance.”

DA:I because BISHO FIXES ARE BEST
WHOO BOY WHERE DO I START. I’m tripling this because 5 isn’t enough to fix this busted ass game
1) City Elf as a character option. No fucking excuse that they forced us to be Dalish. Make them from the Val Royeaux alienage and let us actually go there. City Elf Mage could just be an apostate that remained on the DL there. Give Dwarf Noble (any house) and Human Commoner (maybe Redcliffe farmer as we were supposed to get way back with Origins but was cut), or Human Barbarian (Chasind or Avvar) for balance. Easy excuses for all of these to be in or near the Conclave, certainly more so than fucking Lavellan.
2) Our fucking choices should have mattered, for once in this godforsaken franchise. Let entire storylines only be available if we made certain decisions.
3) No heteros. All LIs are gay or bi.
4) C*llen should have been in Samson’s role as antagonist instead of military commander. Military commander should have been one of Loghain or Aveline if Loghain is dead. Take the second advisor romance away and give it to Vivienne as god intended.
5) Merrill should have taken Morrigan’s role in the story, and Morrigan should have been confined to a cameo. And Merrill’s knowledge of the eluvians should have been directly impacted by the choices Hawke made with her in DA2.
6) Get rid of the War Table entirely. It’s lazy, boring, and adds absolutely nothing to the gameplay. About half of those missions should have been actual playable content (most notably the sidequests w previous companions, because a lot of it was way more interesting than the aimless “open world” gameplay that comprised most of this game’s actual content. The other half of the war table missions were superfluous padding and unnecessary and should have been cut. Instead of confining advisors to that shit, they should have played a more active role in the story. Let us utilize their capabilities and teams in the actual field instead of those stupid and meaningless requisition quests–if Leliana has birds why the fuck do I have to go back to Skyhold to give orders, anyway?
7) Cut the Redcliffe garbage entirely. No bad end time travel AU fuckshit. The “side with the Mages” option should have been an entirely different story, and there should have been an option to send Felix to the Wardens. Kinloch Hold should have been the HQ for the Mage Rebellion, and Alexius should have been trying to infiltrate it. In keeping with #2, if a Mage Warden asked for it to be freed it should have had consequences here.
8) We should have had an option to recruit both Mages and Templars, stemming from decisions made from Origins and DA2. In general, this game needed way more Take a Third Option.
9) We shouldn’t have closed the Breach so early, it removed a lot of the stakes and contributed a lot to the Inquisition being Boring Invincible Heroes. And it shouldn’t have happened in a fucking cutscene.
10) Total overhaul of Here Lies the Abyss. As a start, Hawke’s LI should have been present for this whole storyline, barring Sebastian and Anders. (The latter two should have made cameos, just for fairness sake.) The Vigil’s Keep Wardens should have been integrated into the storyline as well as a Sibling Hawke Warden. Instead of Hawke blathering on about blood magic (when they might very well have been a goddamn blood mage), their beef with the Wardens should have solely been about what they did to their parents.
Instead of a stupid, arbitrary binary Virmire-esque decision, there should have been about a zillion outcomes for the end, and fighting your way out should have been an option (see #8), albeit very, very difficult, and reliant on previous choices.
11) Corypheus ceases being a threat after Haven. Give him more presence. He doesn’t have to physically show up but like, in keeping with #2, if Alistair was King he should have gotten a storyline where Cory tried to possess him–he’s still got the Taint after all. The actual game has a war table mission where Venatori are trying to infiltrate the palace, that would have been perfect to integrate in the actual game. Ferelden falling to Cory would have been a serious blow. That’s just one fucking example. While I’m at it, the Architect should have been a major player in this, whether he survived Awakening or not (shit, if Leliana miraculously survived Origins no matter what…) and have his role be ambiguous if the Warden didn’t cut that deal with him.
12) Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts and the Orlesian Civil War in general should not have relied on a fucking tie-in novel for crucial context. If they were going to integrate it into the game, we should have gotten that information in the game, either playing through the events themselves or getting knowledge of them first hand from people. We should have been involved w the elven uprising via Val Royeaux’s alienage.
13) The pacing of the endgame is absolutely abysmal. The Temple of Mythal should have led directly into the endgame, with Cory’s forces laying siege to Skyhold. Give us a combo Suicide Mission + Battle of Denerim final level within Skyhold itself, assigning different people to different tasks to break the siege. Give me an epic set piece battle with literally every surviving playable character across the trilogy taking part. Let people die brutally if we make the wrong decisions, and certain options not be available to us depending on choices we made through the game–let it be harder or easier depending on what we did.
14) Overhaul Solas’ entire storyline but most especially his romance. But this is a symptom of a much larger problem with this game, which is the writing being aimed at the player rather than the characters. That Fen’Harel reveal should not have been in a fucking credits stinger, for us to react to and not the damn PC.
15) This really should have been higher up but I’m too lazy to re-number all this shit so I’ll just say here that the Herald of Andraste garbage should never even have been a thing to the extent it was. That entire plot point seems like an artifact of the time in development where the Inquisitor could only be a human, tbh. Because it’s awkward and ridiculous from an in-character standpoint for anyone but a human warrior/rogue, and it’s offputting to non-Christian players. Let us actually be able to push back against that shit and not be gaslit about it by the narrative, actually GIVE US THE CHOICE on how to shape the Inquisition instead of just meaningless fucking lipservice. Sure, make a fascist, imperialist, theocratic dictatorship an option. But also make a secular organization possible. Make it possible for us to be more egalitarian and communally driven. GIVE US MULTIPLE OPTIONS FOR LEADERSHIP STYLES. Allow us to reject the messiah shit and not have it dismissed in universe. Allow us to not choose another Divine at all and just let the Chantry schism. Allow us to reject the idea that we’re ~building a new empire~, and say that we exist solely to deal with this one threat and then disband, or else remain as a United Nations type entity dedicated to maintaining peace in Thedas thru diplomacy (only without the irl garbage associated w the UN).

Dear Wintersend Letter
Dear Wintersend Creator,
Hello! I hope you’ve been having a good new year thus far. I’m Fille and I’m honored that you’ve been chosen to have me as your exchange partner. No doubt you’ve got a fantastic already existing body of work; I’m really looking forward to whatever you’ll create! I’ve laid out here a few guidelines for my prompts and the kind of things I like to see just in case you wanted a little more of a reference.
My AO3 is linked in my sidebar if you want to get a better idea of what I write and I’m generally very flexible. If you’re really stuck, you can always send me any questions you have at all on anon and I will dramatically cover my eyes and go OH NO WHO IS THAT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS COULD BE ABOUT while I answer it.
Good Shit
Character studies exploring every available aspect. Found families. People overcoming their differences to come together and people recognizing their similarities through their differences as they come together. Letting things get weird and sticky but finding comfort in that and coming toa resolution. Domesticity, nonsexual and sexual intimacy, supporting but being willing to call the other out on their bullshit or push them towards something greater. Mutual comfort while unpacking and dealing with trauma; also, coming together to weather a traumatic experience. Well done angst that might seem overwrought, but is worth the light at the end of the tunnel. Character driven fluff and smut. Enthusiastic consent play, light bondage, service tops/service bottoms, spanking, shibari, oral sex, praise kink, dirty talk, orgasm denial, switching, femdom, pegging, hair-pulling, rough sex that comes after sparring, hair-pulling. Meaningful but realistic sex where you’re allowed to laugh and no one takes it too seriously. My biggest kink is mutual respect and affection (no, really). I also have a weakness for epistolary and faux anthropological/sociological study styles, even if the formatting can be difficult.
BONUS! I am eternally weak for the Chargers as NPCs, so any appearance of them means I will adore your work until the end of time. There is no easier in to my heart.
Background pairings I would love to see if you want to squeeze them include but are not limited to: Dalish/Skinner, Dagna/Sera, Cassandra/Vivienne, Josephine/Leliana, Iron Bull/Dorian, Female Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Any of the women at Skyhold (and I do mean any), Isabela/Merrill, Aveline/Isabela, Female Hawke/any of the Kirkwall gals (and I do mean any), Female Hawke/Merrill/Isabela, Male Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Iron Bull, Male Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Dorian Pavus, Male Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Cullen Rutherford, Male Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Krem, Male Inquisitor Who Is Not Human/Blackwall, Male Hawke/Fenris, Male Hawke/Varric, Leliana/Cassandra, Morrigan/Leliana, Josephine/Vivienne, Sera/Cassandra, Josephine/Sera, Any Male Charger But Bull/Any Male Charger But Bull, Leliana/Sera, Cassandra/Krem, and Lace Harding/Dagna.
I haven’t actually played Origins yet, but if you wanted to include Leliana/FWarden Who Is Not Human, Morrigan/FWarden Who Is Not Human, or Zevran/Male Warden Who Is Not Human, that would be fine, too.
Non, Merci
Scat, watersports, bloodplay, vomit play, vore, rape roleplay, love triangles, character bashing, OTT angst, ageplay, infidelity, pregnancy, whump, kid fic, women being dominated by men, soulmate fic, AU fic, A/B/O dynamics and tropes, descriptions of gore that go beyond the typical canon. Referencing or hinting at abuse, rape, or assault is fine, but I’d rather not see it played out. I’m also not a huge fan of tons of angst or sadness without a happy ending; I like things bittersweet, not full on sour. Also, no human Wardens or Inquisitors, please. I have nothing against them; I just find the other origins more interesting. I have no preference regarding classes. If you’re drawing me porn and you’re an artist, I really don’t like the style where both people look super shiny; I tend to read it as oily or sweaty and it takes me out of the scene.
First person and second person POV also don’t generally work for me as styles and I would prefer you stick to canon. Pairings I would really not like to see at all are here but not limited to: Iron Bull/Any Of The Chargers (the power dynamics really squick me out), Cole/Anyone, Anders/Anyone, Blackwall/Any Female Characters, Solas/Any Female Characters, Cullen/Any Female Characters, any pairings that don’t acknowledge Sera and Dorian as gay or disrespect Krem’s gender identity, Dalish/Any Male Characters, Skinner/Any Male Characters, Male Hawke/Any Female Characters, Female Hawke/Any Male Characters, Fenris/Anders, Fenris/Isabela, Fenris/Dorian, Krem/Dorian, Female Inquisitor/Cullen Rutherford, Female Inquisitor/Blackwall, and Female Inquisitor/Solas.
I know this is a lot to take in, but you’re doing great. Onto the prompts!
Dagna/Shaper Valta
Talk about rare pairs, am I right? You don’t have to dig much deeper than the Deep Roads for these two. Still, I think there’s something to these two. I found their similarities rather striking; they’re both intelligent, relentless in their pursuit of their work, they see Orzammar for what it is, both of their fathers disagreed with what they chose to do, they don’t have any regrets regarding their decisions, etc. Valta also talked about the Titan in a very similar way to how Dagna talked about the Fade if you let her study the samples from Adamant. I think they’d really hit it off. I would love to see them talking shop or reminiscing about their lives in Orzammar.
Colette/Lace Harding
And the rare pairs get even rarer. Colette is Professor Bram Kenric’s sword wielding city elf assistant you meet in the Jaws of Hakkon DLC who’s attending the University of Orlais. (Here are a couple clips of her; skip to 1:47 for this one.) She’s researching the early Tevinter temple ruins in the Frostback Basin and how they relate to Inquisitor Ameridan. If you chat with her, she’ll tell you about the discrimination she faces as an elf attending an Orlesian university and comments on how elven assistants are common, but get no credit for their research. Professor Kenric is the exception. She’s very driven and determined to succeed in her work and it shows; that’s something she and Lace have in common. Kenric also mentions that Lace has brought artifacts back to camp for them, so I’m sure that she and Colette have at least met before.
I don’t have anything specific in mind, but something that you could have a lot of fun with is a Road to El Dorado style piece with Lace helping Colette search for an artifact in a particular ruin and possibly fighting off some Hakkonites together heroically. Bonus points if they end up having to rescue Professor Kenric and the Chargers show up as the cavalry along with Lace being an adopted Charger.
Dalish/Skinner
Okay, so just hear me out because this prompt's a little convoluted, but it could be hilarious.
So, we know that merchant families in Antiva have their feuds like anyone else. Let's say that for reasons, one of them in particular decides to retaliate by the Montilyets' rise to power by planning to kidnap Yvette. Rather than allow her sister to stay in Val Royeaux or potentially draw the mercenaries to Skyhold, Josephine chooses to take out a contract and have The Bull's Chargers kidnap her instead and take her somewhere safe to watch over her while she investigates the plot and brings the would-be kidnappers to justice.
Contrary to expectations, Yvette is a delight. She takes to the Chargers' lifestyle surprisingly well and it's just the inspiration she needed as an artist to really flourish, except she develops a huge crush on Dalish. At first, it's completely harmless and just a lot of starry eyed wistful gazing and overwrought elvhen motifs in her sketches. Skinner's not happy, but is pacified by The Iron Bull's litany of "you could literally eat her alive, she's practically a baby, we just have to get through this one job and you'll never have to see her again". Then, despite efforts to discourage it, Yvette's crush on Dalish starts getting too big to ignore and on top of all that, her girlfriend shows up.
Who is Yvette's girlfriend? I don't know. Maybe she's a Tal Vashoth pirate who automatically sets Bull on edge, maybe she's a shady apostate with a penchant for blood magic and betrayal, maybe she's a noblewoman from a disgraced house who supposedly goes through young women like tissues. It's up to you! All I ask is all's well that ends well. I want a lighthearted romp, not heavy drama. I've tagged the pairings with Josephine that I prefer most for this piece, but if you'd like to pair her with Vivienne, Sera, or Lace Harding, I wouldn't be opposed. Pentilyet doesn't really do it for me.
Female Inquisitor/Cassandra Pentaghast
Something I feel that the Cassandra romance genuinely missed out on was the possibility of an interfaith relationship between her and the Inquisitor (besides the obvious lack of not being able to romance her with a female character). I would really like to see that explored in fic.
How does she handle a partner with a belief system radically different from hers (Dalish, the Qun, the Stone, Avaar, Chasind, whatever the Vashoth or Tal Vashoth might believe in) or a nonbeliever? How much does the degree of faith affect their relationships? How do the Chantry's views on them get in the way? If her partner's actually considered to be clergy (or was before the Inquisition, such as a Keeper, an augur, a tamassran, etc.), how does she come to terms with that? Does anyone in the Inquisition help her through this trial? Do any couples who deal with these cultural differences aid her?
I don’t want to see any unhappy endings with this one, but feel free to explore it as much as you possibly can and don’t be afraid to get bitter or dark. Smut is not necessary for this prompt, but if you feel the urge, I always appreciate it, especially if it’s pseudoreligious sex full of allegories. That’s my shit.
Shokrakar
My giant women, how I love them.
I just really want some Shokrakar smut, especially if you can expand on the Valo Kas and how they fit in. I'm always down for plot with my porn. I would prefer to see her paired with any of the female characters in Inquisition, but especially Josephine, Cassandra, or Vivienne.
And that’s everything! Thanks for reading! I can’t wait to see what you do. Good luck!
Best,
Fille
