The Pace Report: "The 50 Ways To Love Charnett Moffett" The Charnett Moffett Interview

Welcome to another edition of The Pace Report reporting live from The Jazz Standard for the Official NYC Record Release and 50th birthday celebration for bassist Charnett Moffett. Many friends and fans packed out both sets as they heard new music from his latest Motema Music release "Music From Our Soul" with a stellar band featuring the legendary Brian Jackson on piano, Scott Tixier on violin, Jana Herzen on guitar, Irwin Hall on tenor saxophone and Mark Whitfield Jr. on drums. Charnett's latest CD "Music From Our Soul" features some of jazz music luminaries ranging from legendary Pharoah Sanders, Stanley Jordan, Cyrus Chestnut, Jeff Watts, Victor Lewis and Mike Clark. This bassist and composer also celebrated another important milestone in that this is his 30th year as a soloist and the anniversary of his debut record, "Net Man," released on the famed Blue Note Records label. I had a chance to sit down with Charnett Moffett to reflect on his career in jazz, how he's been able to lead his own group, and what he communicates when he plays both the upright and electric bass.
