Flufftober was an absolute blast this year! I wrote about 34k words across 11 fics, covering 26 regular prompts and using 5 of the alts! Three more fics using 5 of the remaining 10 prompts are still on my "to write" list, so I'll probably work on those in the near future In the meantime, here's my round up, sorted by fandom:

Nancy Drew

Citrus & Cloves: Ace realizes he's in love with Nancy when a spell makes him smell citrus and cloves. (favorite scent; ingredients & spells, "wait, you love me?"-"I always have")

Ace's Coat: The first winter after they break the curse, Nancy notices Ace being weird about his coat. (hoodie weather; "I can't find it")

Trapped in a Cabin: Nancy and Ace get stuck in a cabin after a case. (acorn, chestnut, pine cone; chopping & piling wood; only one bed; afternoon stroll)

Rainy Day: On the anniversary of breaking the curse, Nancy plans a special day with Ace. Unfortunately for her, the universe has other plans. (rainy day; porch swing)

the only memory is us (kissing in the moonlight): When George loses her memories of the supernatural, Tristan steps in to help. ("this is spooky"-"really?"; bewitched; comfort food; make a wish)

The Case of the Haunted Tech Billionaire: When Ace is concerned his new house might be haunted less than two weeks before Nick and George's wedding, there's only one person he can ask for help. (heirloom; haunted house)

pouring out my hopes and dreams to you: Nancy never wanted to work at the Claw. The job is a drag, and she can’t manage to get on her coworkers’ good sides. The only good part about the job is it gives her time to talk to EagleScout98, who may be as dedicated to solving mysteries as she is. A “She Loves Me” AU. Runaway Rex: Rex has a habit of running away from his pet sitter. Luckily for Charlie, he runs right into Sarah. (lost pet meet cute)

Julie and the Phantoms

Bonfire: Julie hasn't written music in over a year. Not since her mom died, anyway. But when she hears a mysterious guitar on the night of the senior class bonfire, inspiration strikes. (bet, game, contest; yes, no, maybe; bonfire)

Twisters

Campus Visit: It's Kate's first day of her re-started PhD program, and what she needs more than anything is moral support. Luckily, Tyler's there every step of the way. (Left, other left!; attic, cellar, hidden room; "what are you wearing?" - "It's laundry day!"; "I hate it" - "no, you don't")

So we have finally gotten somewhat of a timeline. Because there were pumpkins on the door stoop in the newest episode. Meaning Halloween. Mardi Gras in 2022 was March 1st. It premiered a week later than it was supposed to (switched with the casino episode). So that is putting the season finale late March, early April. For sake of lack of exact dates, I am going to say March 31st (also, my birthday, so there's that).

They have been together just under six months.

Flufftober Round Up

As someone who primarily writes fluff, this was a super fun event! I didn't end up covering as many prompts as I had hoped, but I published 5 stories on AO3 for a total of 12,419 words. I can't wait for next year's event!

‘ do better. , in all honesty, you found father mayhew at the wrong times, either when he was in his oh so sinfully tight red tank top, or when he would just get out of the shower, seeing his ass nine times out of ten. but if at all any constellation, you had to get this paper reviewed for the blog that was featuring the case you were helping a dective with (REQ).

‘ not like him. , (s. cameron). your a pouge. she's a kook, more like a wanna-be-pouge in your eyes, but she knows you hate rafe as it is, and seeing another product like a mini-rafe without all the attitude and drug-crazed personality, you still have your off days that typically lead to arguments and such, no matter how hard she tries to get it through you thick skull that she's not like him.

‘ got me a quiet one , (j.b. routledge). as john b was diving into the world of dating, he managed to find you, after all, opposites do attract. you'd rather find yourself reading a good book, curled in blanket, rather than hunt for treasure. despite your indifferences with the activities you enjoy he always finds time to let you read while he rambles on about his latest adventure.

‘ sharing is caring. , (rafe &&. barry) (shadowbanned, i tried four times to get it public-public but m fraid it wouldn't let me). often finding yourself stuck between your drug crazed friend (occasional hookup) and his drug dealer, when you're sat in between then, you find out the true meaning to what sharing is caring as the subtly do lines off you, both taking up a thigh.

SHAMELESS

‘ sugar baby. , being fiona's sugar mommy is one of the hardest task there is when it comes to her, dealing with her not being able to accept it to her always dressing scrapy, typically with holes in her clothes due to how much she's worn them, to you spoiling her and the kids. which of course she finds them really sweet, but coming from how she's grown up, with little to nothing, having to be the parent for her own siblings, she finds it a tad bit difficult.

The women at this dinner are SO. DONE.

Tori, who has anticipated the dynamics at this dinner all along and has pegged David immediately as the slimeball he is, is clearly wondering how she got sat between these two massive male egos. She's armed and ready for her confrontations with David (perhaps even looking forward to them just a tiny bit?) when things take a turn for the worse. Protective older sister mode activated.

I debated adding Jane here, but she's reacting to the posturing and conflict between the men just as much as Tori or Sarah, so she deserves to be included. She spends the meal deflecting, changing topics, trying to keep the conversation in safe waters. She silently but visibly disagrees when Charlie downplays his rugby abilities (thank you, someone, for acknowledging he's not actually that bad!). But when Nick finally confronts David, her face shows dread. Anyone who's read Alice's cannon knows Jane has a complicated family history riddled with conflict, and her instinctive fear shows clearly in this moment before she realizes that Nick is going to handle this problem gracefully rather than violently.

And Sarah. Having seen how lovingly she navigates life with Nick and how sensitively she helps him with his problems, we can only imagine that she has to have been pushed to the absolute edge by her time with Stephane to react the way she does here. I'm not even getting into the second half of the argument after Nick leaves the table--that's a whole other post--but Sarah is completely comfortable placing the blame squarely where it belongs, even in front of company. Sarah Nelson, putting men in their place left and right.
