And Reading FC Women can confirm that a number of first team players will not be renewing contracts at the club after their deals expire this summer. We would like to wish Mayumi Pacheco, Millie Farrow, Jo Potter, Rachael Laws, Sophie Howard and Maxime Bennink the very best of luck in their future careers.
And we also bid farewell to long-serving Royals Remi Allen and Charlie Estcourt. Remi Allen joined the club in our first top flight campaign and has been an important member of the squad ever since. Charlie came through the ranks, having first joined the Reading FC Women ranks at the age of 8. After a short spell with Chelsea’s youth system, she returned to our WSL Academy at the age of 16 to then break into our first team.
“I would personally like to put on record a massive thank you to all the players; every single one of them has played a huge part in the success and development of our club,” Royals boss Kelly Chambers said. “I cannot thank them enough for all their efforts and what they have given to myself as manager, the team and the club as a whole during their careers at Reading. "It is never easy saying goodbye to players, but I would like to personally wish them all the best in their next adventure.”

LOTS of releases at Reading. Jo Potter being one of them (although with Jade Moore at Orlando there might be more to that one)
my goodness these exits just keep getting worse and worse. I’m so sorry for them all, that’s 8 excellent players they’re releasing and some of them have been really vital this season and many in the past too. With Jade who has already left that’s at least 9 departures this year which really leaves Reading in a tight corner after the considerably impressive season they had. Even if they do bring in some top class replacements starting pre season with a team that’s practically half new is not an ideal situation, just look at Birmingham last year. Not only am I sorry for them and the team but I’m also kind of surprised, with the announcement of them playing at the men’s stadium next year of almost assumed they had a strong financial and resourceful structure in place, but with the furlough alongside all these departures then it looks like things aren’t as sunny as I though they were.
As for Jo Potter being on the list, well I’d assume that that’s the end of her playing career. She said before that this was probably her last contract so I’m not sure what will be next for her. Definitely working towards that Pro License and maybe going to the US with Jade. Whatever she plans on doing though I just hope she carries on having the success she’s had so far, and on a selfish note I just wish I’d been able to watch her play.
Ahh I’m actually really sad about all these players leaving, Reading is a great team with some fantastic personalities so seeing so many leave like this isn’t fun. Again I just hope they’ll be able to find offers and teams with relative ease...

Hey do you know which players on Everton, Brighton, Bristol, Reading and Tottenham play for their national team??????
Decided to do this for all the FAWSL teams, in case I get some follow up questions about the other teams! I’ve only included full internationals, there are quite a lot who play on their youth national teams incl. England, Scotland, Wales, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands etc.
Arsenal:
Beth Mead, Leah Williamson, Jordan Nobbs (& Dan Carter - she only has 4 caps in 4 years but may be called in again now she’s recovered from her injury) - England
Kim Little, Lisa Evans, Jennifer Beattie & Emma Mitchell - Scotland
Vivianne Miedema, Danielle van de Donk & Jill Roord - Netherlands
Katie McCabe & Louise Quinn - Republic of Ireland
Leonie Maier & Tabea Kemme - Germany
Viki Schnaderbeck & Manuela Zinsberger - Austria
Katrine Veje & Janni Arnth - Denmark
Lia Wälti - Switzerland
Pauline Peyraud-Magnin - France
Birmingham City:
Lucy Staniforth - England
Chloe Arthur & Abbi Grant - Scotland
Harriet Scott - Republic of Ireland
Rebecca Holloway - Northern Ireland
Brighton & Hove Albion:
Danique Kerkdijk - Netherlands
Ini Umotong - Nigeria
Megan Connolly - Republic of Ireland
Kayleigh Green - Wales
Laure Rafferty - Northern Ireland
Bristol City:
Loren Dykes & Gemma Evans - Wales
Frankie Brown & Abi Harrison - Scotland
Yana Daniëls - Belgium
Chelsea:
Frank Kirby, Millie Bright, Carly Telford (& Hannah Blundell - 3 caps last season and expect her to be called in again) - England
Maren Mjelde, Maria Thorisdottir & Guro Reiten - Norway
Magdalena Eriksson & Jonna Andersson - Sweden
Erin Cuthbert - Scotland
Sophie Ingle - Wales
Ji So-yun - South Korea
Adelina Engman - Finland
Ramona Bachmann - Switzerland
(Ann-Katrin Berger (not yet capped but usually called into camp last season) - Germany
Everton:
Kika van Es & Inessa Kaagman - Netherlands
Simone Magill - Northern Ireland
Elise Hughes - Wales
Lucy Graham - Scotland
(Chloe Kelly & Gabby George both have a cap or 2 for England from last season, and may be called back into camp)
Liverpool:
Christie Murray - Scotland
Rhiannon Roberts - Wales
Niamh Fahey - Republic of Ireland
Manchester City:
Steph Houghton, Keira Walsh, Demi Stokes, Georgia Stanway, Karen Bardsley, Ellie Roebuck, Jill Scott, Ellen White - England
Caroline Weir - Scotland
Pauline Bremer - Germany
Tessa Wullaert - Belgium
Megan Campbell - Republic of Ireland
Matilde Fidalgo - Portugal
Janine Beckie - Canada
Manchester United:
Alex Greenwood, Abbie McManus & Mary Earps - England
Jane Ross, Lizzie Arnot & Kirsty Smith - Scotland
Jackie Groenen - Netherlands
Hayley Ladd - Wales
Reading:
Jade Moore - England
Angharad James, Natasha Harding, Rachel Rowe, Lily Woodham & Charlie Estcourt - Wales
Grace Moloney - Republic of Ireland
Rakel Hönnudóttir - Iceland
 Sophie Howard - Scotland
Kristine Bjørdal Leine - Norway
Tottenham Hotspur:
Ria Percival - New Zealand
Siri Worm - Netherlands
Anna Filbey - Wales
West Ham United:
Tessel Middag & Esmee de Graaf - Netherlands
Alisha Lehmann - Switzerland
Cho So-hyun - South Korea
Leanne Kiernan - Republic of Ireland
Adriana Leon - Canada
Think that’s all correct! Some of the players didn’t make their World Cup teams, but were regularly called-up so felt it was fair to include them.

Women's Euro 2021 qualifying: Belarus Women 0-1 Wales Women

Women’s Euro 2021 qualifying highlights: Belarus 0-1 Wales
Wales’ Rachel Rowe returned from a year out through injury to reignite their Women’s Euro 2021 qualifying campaign.
The Reading midfielder’s late winner, a low left-foot shot, was her first for her country and saw Wales edge Belarus.
The result keeps Wales second in Group C, two points behind leaders Norway but crucially opens up a four-point gap over third-placed Belarus.
Belarus created good chances, but skipper Anastasiya Shcherbachenia sent the best one over the crossbar.
On balance Wales did deserve all three points with captain Natasha Harding leading from the front, having a strong first-half penalty appeal turned down and hitting the woodwork with a long-range shot.
In the evening’s other pool game, Norway took their goal difference to 25 after thrashing Faroe Islands 13-0.
Wales, looking to bounce back from the disappointing home draw against Northern Ireland, were without injured skipper Sophie Ingle and star midfielder Jess Fishlock.
Ingle was replaced in the squad by Cardiff City’s 17-year-old forward Grace Horrell, with Reading striker Harding taking the captain’s armband.
Manager Jayne Ludlow handed a debut to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Anna Filbey, while Rowe played her first international for a year after an ACL injury.

Wales back to normal service – Jayne Ludlow
Belarus looked the better side in the early exchanges at the Borisov Arena, but Wales slowly worked their way into the game, with Kayleigh Green unable to finish off a half-chance from an acute angle.
Hayley Ladd then let fly with a long-range effort that had plenty of power but was straight at Belarus goalkeeper Nataliya Voskobovich.
Belarus were dominating the middle of the park though, with midfielders breaking from deep causing Wales problems.
Home skipper Shcherbachenia was particularly impressive and just failed to meet an inviting cross that would have given Belarus the lead.
Wales were denied a penalty when Harding broke through and was able to nick the ball beyond the lunging Voskobovich before being sent tumbling by the keeper, only for referee Tanja Subotic to wave play on.
The visitors had a second good chance before half-time when Rowe worked herself into space, only to see her goal-bound shot well blocked.
The half ended with a flurry of chances, with Wales indebted to the reactions of Laura O’Sullivan who rushed from her goal to smother Anastasiya Kharlanova’s shot.
Then it was Wales’ turn to threaten as Rhiannon Roberts’ header from a corner was tipped over the bar by Voskobovich.

I don’t feel anything other than pride – Wales match-winner Rachel Rowe
Wales continued to live dangerously after the restart and were fortunate that Shcherbachenia blazed over the bar with the goal at her mercy.
The commitment from both sides was fierce and the game was held up after a worrying collision between Rowe and Tatyana Krasnova, which saw the Belarus substitute booked.
Wales went close again when Elise Hughes had the ball in the back of the net, but the Everton forward had drifted offside after Harding had clipped the corner of post and crossbar with a fantastic curling shot.
Green then broke through but a heavy touch allowed Voskobovich to smother the danger, with the Wales player booked for the challenge.
But with seven minutes remaining Rowe capped her comeback game with a crucial winner – her first international goal on her 31st cap – after Roberts had made a nuisance of herself in the area from a corner.
The ball broke loose and Rowe scampered after it before unleashing a low left-foot shot that found the far corner of the net.
Wales squad:Laura O’Sullivan (Cardiff City Ladies), Claire Skinner (Cardiff City Ladies), Hayley Ladd (Manchester United Women), Loren Dykes (Bristol City Women), Gemma Evans (Bristol City Women), Rhiannon Roberts (Liverpool FC Women), Charlie Estcourt (Charlton Athletic Women – on loan from Reading FC Women), Anna Filbey (Tottenham Hotspur Women), Angharad James (Reading FC Women), Elise Hughes (Everton Ladies), Rachel Rowe (Reading FC Women), Natasha Harding (Reading FC Women), Emma Jones(Lewes FC Women), Megan Wynne (Tottenham Hotspur Women), Helen Ward (Watford FC Ladies), Kayleigh Green (Brighton & Hove Albion Women), Josie Green (Tottenham Hotspur Women), Nadia Lawrence (Cardiff City Ladies), Georgia Walters (Tranmere Rovers), Grace Horrell (Cardiff City Ladies).

Match Preview; Liverpool Ladies vs Bristol City Women’s Football Club - WSL1
Bristol City ladies face a tough test in this evenings WSL1 5:30 kick off, as they take on current the Queens of Merseyside - Liverpool Ladies - at the Select Security Stadium.
Having beaten fellow Liverpudlians Everton 2-1 earlier in the season, The Reds should know how much of a threat The Vixens can be. Liverpool are currently 3rd in the league and will be buoyed by their defensive record, having conceded only 5 goals in 6 matches so far this term. Bristol City strikers Lauren Hemp and Charlie Estcourt will have to be on top form to put one past England shot stopper Siobhan Chamberlain, but with The Reds only playing their second game of 2018, they could struggle to get back into the swing of things and leave Bristol City with the chance to cause an upset.
The Vixens were unlucky to walk away without a point when they faced Birmingham City in their last outing and will be eager to make amends tonight in Widnes. City skipper Millie Turner admitted that the squad is “still very positive and looking to finish in the top six”, so games like today’s will be crucial to the clubs development.
Liverpool won’t want to drop points as they continue their chase for their 3rd WSL1 league title in 6 years. The Reds last outing was against fellow West Country side Yeovil Town, who fell at the feet of Bethany England, allowing the striker to go home with the match ball after scoring 4 of the home sides 8 goals that day. The talent Liverpool have in their squad, and keeper Chamberlain isn’t the only England international Liverpool have on their books. Club captain Casey Stoney, defender Alex Greenwood and midfielder Alex Coombs have all played for The Lionesses, and look set to be part of the squad in next year’s Women’s World Cup.
A win for the Vixens could send them as high as 10th, (if other results in the WSL1 this weekend go their favour), whilst 3 points for Liverpool would put them a point behind 2nd place Chelsea, who’d also have a game in hand. Tonight’s match could be one for the neutrals, with both teams having it all to play for, a goal fest could be on the cards.
