In Marvel's upcoming series Eddie Brock: #Carnage, #EddieBrock becomes the new host of the deadly Carnage symbiote after the events of #Venom War.

Set to launch in February, the series will be written by #CharlesSoule and illustrated by #JesusSaiz, with covers by Iban Coello and Mark Bagley. The storyline examines whether Eddie can control Carnage's violent urges or if he will succumb to madness as he feeds the symbiote by hunting serial killers.

Announced at #NewYorkComicCon, the series will run alongside All-New Venom and explore the darkest corners of the #Marvel Universe.

As the debut issue of Dark Droids hits newsstands today, Charles Soule discusses his latest mini series and how it compares to the trio of hit series - War of the Bounty Hunters, Crimson Reign and Hidden Empire - that preceeded it. The full “Qi’ra Trilogy” was about threading the needle to create a story that organically felt like it could fit between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, but also did justice to Qi’ra as a character. On top of that, it needed to weave in the original trilogy characters, as well as people from other eras and mediums — the Knights of Ren from the sequel trilogy, Imara Vex from Star Wars: Hunters, or even Darth Maul. Beyond that, it had to be cool, too. It was a challenge, definitely, but I loved it. I got to play with so many fun toys and write my own epic Star Wars trilogy. That being said, Dark Droids is different in almost every way. It’s shorter, for one thing — a five-issue comics event miniseries running from August through December 2023, and tonally, the feel is pretty unique. Droids is a horror-fueled story — it’s legitimately scary, especially based on what we’ve seen before in Star Wars. The idea is that droids are being consumed by a monstrous entity called “the Scourge,” but they don’t reveal themselves right away. Instead, they stay in the spots where they originally were, within the power centers of the galaxy, watching, waiting, hating. The story ties in with all four of the current Star Wars comics set in this era: Star Wars, Darth Vader, Bounty Hunters, and Doctor Aphra, plus another amazing tie-in miniseries featuring R2-D2 called D-Squad. All the writers and artists seem pretty inspired by the premise and tone — we’re going to get some fabulously creepy stories out of this one. [amazon box="B0C95F2DDX"]

RAMBLIN REVIEWS: Charles Soule’s ‘Daredevil’

Last year, writer Charles Soule finished up his run on 'Daredevil'. It was a good, solid run that was very true to the core of Murdock. If you liked the Netflix series, you can get onboard with this. There's some synergy but not "oh, this is because of the show." It's kinda funny how Bullseye shows up twice and gets stomped pretty quickly considering he's the antichrist of Matt's life. Soule was a lawyer, so there's a lot of lawyering here. The story has its ups and downs. I would say up to vol. 5 "Supreme", it's GREAT. But we get a new penciller for a pivotal batch of issues - Murdock has some grand secret plan, which is revealed here - and it's rough. I dont really hate artists, but Alec Morgan did not do great work there. Kingpin hires a lawyer that looks like a janky rendition of Pitbull - I'm not kidding. This moment kinda derails all of the series' momentum really. Considering Matt has his secret identity back here, momentum is key. So when I say the art shits the bed at the worst time, I really do mean it. Ron Garney is the main penciller off and on, and he does PHENOMENAL though. The first trade has Garney doing all of the pencils and it is GREAT! Things get kinda weird here and there - The Hand's weapon is kinda silly - but it's overall a good stretch of issues that really capture what it means to be Daredevil/Matt Murdock - "I cannot see the light, so I must be the light." Y'know cause he's blind. But also because DD's life KINDA sucks. But he gets up to fight day after day. It's not a bright or happy story but there is a lot to like in it. Oh, and Sam/Blindspot IS A DELIGHT. Recommended! STL County library has the full run of paperbacks, so get you some baybay!
