Another Taste Of Big Mac
Was Charles Macintosh the first to discover that a #rubber solution can repel water? The eminent #surgeon James Syme might have beaten his to it #mackintosh #rainwear
Having patented his new waterproof fabric, Charles Macintosh initially just produced the cloth, leaving tailors in Glasgow and then London to fashion it into garments. Initial reactions were mixed. Tailors found the material difficult to work with. Customers found that while the coats were undeniably waterproof, they became stiff in the cold, tended to become sticky in the heat, and gave off a…

DANFORTH COMEDY FESTIVAL - NIGHT 2
Saturday night and another great line-up of comedy, this time at the Comedy Bar on the Danforth, near Victoria Park. It was nearly a full house for the second night of the brand new Danforth Comedy Festival and I was thrilled to be introduced to headliner Nathan Macintosh who blew the roof off the place! First off, MC Azfar Ali (below) warmed up the already pumped crowd, spritzing with several…

Everybody is all smiles for the group picture, from heroes to villains and everything in-between. Even characters who were otherwise sticks in the mud like Hank genuinely smile for the picture. Villains such as Muntz, de la Cruz, Lotso, Thunderclap and his gang, Syndrome, Evelyn, Randall, Waternoose, Hopper, Skinner, and Ercole, as much of evil psychopaths they were, are seen tenderly and respectfully singing along. Even Sid, who was a massive bully to Hannah, is seen giving her a kind brotherly embrace. Also, most movies’ main cast seem to be cramped together. Even the villains stand near their respective heroes, everyone in a healthy relationship with their families and loved ones are tenderly holding each other close, and many of the larger characters offer their bodies for the smaller ones.
Forky, Heimlich, Dory, Jack-Jack, Mater, WALL-E, and one of the triplets wave at the camera.
Dim and Wee Dingwall give the camera dopey smiles.
The egg-shaped bluebirds and the gawky bird stand perched above the entrance. The bluebirds are happy to have the gawky bird with them, a far cry from how they treated him in their short.
Sulley carries Boo tenderly in his arms. Helen does the same to Jack-Jack, as do Presto with Alec, Carl and Russell with Kevin’s babies, Elinor and Fergus with their triplet sons, Embarrassment with Envy, Massimo with Machiavelli, and Izzy with Sox.
Terri attempts to dance before his other half stops him.
Hank carries Marlin, Dory, and Nemo in a coffee pot.
Voyd and Abby giddily bounce in place, clearly the most excited for the photo.
Linguini carries Remy while Colette holds Django and Emile.
WALL-E and EVE hold the umbrellas from The Blue Umbrella.
HAN-S still can’t stay still, shaking aggressively as the photo is taken.
Kevin and her babies take the time to mimic Carl once again.
Maudie and the Clan Dingwall hunk share a loving look.
Young Macintosh flexes his pecs while giving the camera a cocky smile, the same type of smile given by characters like Terry, Darby, and Clod.
The Witch has her Crow standing perched on her shoulder.
Being stationary volcanoes, Uka and Lele are unable to leave their photo. Thankfully, they have Thunderclap and his gang to hold it so they can be in the group picture.
Nostalgia sticks her head out from behind Embarrassment, clearly hiding from the other emotions.
Riley, Grace, and Bree all carry Knick together while Riley’s parents carry the Miami and Florida knick knacks, Val and the Fire Hawks carry the Egypt, Jamaica, Palm Springs, Israel, and Death Valley knick knacks, and Coach Roberts carries Sunny Atlantis in her fish bowl.
Cindy, Son’s fiancée, winks at the camera as the photo is taken.
Machiavelli gives the camera his standard bored look.
Mei has her red hair, panda ears, and panda tail, continuing to embrace her panda.
Aaron Z gives the camera a thumbs up while Tae Young makes a heart with his hands.
Izzy gives Sox a neck scratch.
Alisha and Kiko’s inclusion also counts due to their backlash following the movie’s release.

Robert William Thomson was born on July 16th 1822 at Stonehaven.
The names of the great Scottish inventors roll easily off the tongue; John Logie Baird, Alexander Graham Bell, Charles Macintosh, and John Dunlop inventor of the pneumatic tyre, or should that read re-inventor of the pneumatic tyre?
Indeed it should read re-inventor; the pneumatic tyre was in fact patented by one of Scotland’s most prolific, but now largely forgotten, inventors, Robert William Thomson on 10 December 1845, some 43 years before John Dunlop’s re-invention. Thomson’s “Aerial Wheels” were subsequently demonstrated in Regents Park London in 1847 and proved to all present that they could both reduce noise and improve passenger comfort.
Robert was born in Stonehaven, the was the son of a local woollen mill owner and was the eleventh of twelve children. Originally destined for the ministry, he apparently had great difficulty coming to terms with Latin,so refused his family’s wishes.
Instead, at age 14, Thomson was shipped to an uncle in the United States, where he served an apprenticeship with a merchant. Upon his return to Scotland, Thomson immersed himself in science, learning all he could about chemistry, electricity and astronomy, and soon began improving the design of mechanical devices in the family’s household. After serving an engineering apprenticeship, Thomson found work as a civil engineer and soon after designed a method of detonating explosive charges via electricity, this saved thousands of lives in the coal mining industry alone.
On December 10, 1845, at the age of 23, Thomson was granted a British patent for the very first pneumatic tyre, a device he called the “Aerial Wheel.” Intended for use on carriages (because bicycles had not yet been popularized), the Aerial Wheel used a rubberized fabric tube filled with pressurized air and encased in a thick leather outer skin. This leather “tire” was bolted to the rim, and the tread section was then stitched to the tyre’s sidewalls. By period accounts, Aerial Wheels yielded a much improved ride compared to conventional solid wheels, and even proved durable enough to accumulate more than 1,200 miles before wearing out. The following year Thomson applied for and received a French patent for his pneumatic tyre, and in 1847 he was granted a U.S. patent for his design.
Though revolutionary, Thomson’s Aerial Wheels were never commercially successful. The cost of the rubber needed for construction of the wheel’s pneumatic bladder priced the product beyond the means of most, and the improvement in ride quality failed to justify the expense in the eyes of the public.
It wasn’t until 1888 that another Scottish inventor, veterinarian John Boyd Dunlop, improved on Thomson’s design to create a pneumatic tire for bicycles, as a means of preventing the headaches suffered by his son when riding his bicycle on bumpy roads. In 1888, Dunlop was given his own patent for the improved pneumatic tyre, but two years later, this was rescinded due to its conflict with Thomson’s Aerial Wheel. Undeterred, Dunlop continued his work on the pneumatic tyre, and by 1890 was mass-producing tyres for bicycles at a factory in Belfast.

Because ive been watching the Fallout series on prime, I shall share my Fallout player characters;
Fallout 3/Lone Wanderer: Calfuray Cole.
Vault 101's chaplin and extreme optimist. Has Morel Orel-level's of belief in people no matter how terrible the world seems. Her father, James, specifically sought out Vault 101 to raise Calfuray in, as she had been born with a genetic mutation that worsened with higher radiation levels. By the time she manages to activate Project Purity, she's a dead ghoul walking. Doesn't do chems or drink - even though she tries. Most likely to be manipulated into being the idol of a cult centered around her.
Song Inspos: Anna Kendrick "Get Back Up Again" + Captain Murphy "Diciples".
Fallout New Vegas: "Hildegarde" aka "
Looks an albino deathclaw with ringu-style white hair. Towers over all other characters. Possible mutant and/or Think Tank experiment. Speaks only with the "Terrfying Presence" perk. Ultimately believes that she must "be the bad guy" to force the people of New Vegas to unite and survive. Nevada cryptid. Responds violently to all Legion. Surprisingly, a friend to animals.
Song Inspos: Poor Mans Poison "Hell's Coming With Me" + 1 800 "Pain".
Fallout 4: Pivot-Blue "Blue" & DomUnique.exe
Variant of my Pivot oc - this one being a RobCo collaboration between Pivot's creator/"Father" and General Atomics to create a Nanny/Babysitter bot. Pivot-Blue (or just "Blue" as Piper calls them), was a baby shower gift to Nate & Nora to take care of Shaun while the new parents returned to civillian life. When Sanctuary Hills residents were corralled into Vault 111, Blue was mistaken for a missing assigned Vault resident and taken inside. Nate and Nora put Blue into "Sleep Mode", and told them to wait until someone came to get them. Blue witnessed Shaun's kidnapping, and once managing to "shut off" Sleep Mode, decided to try and find their charge + learn how to enact vengance for their adoptive-parents. Meets a sentient AI named DomUnique.exe ("Dom") who's been trapped in a Pip-boy replaying holotapes for the past 20+ years. Dom is Blue's built-in guide to the Wasteland + rude dialogue option that lives in their wrist. Blue has no idea how to approach the Human-Synth issue in the Commonwealth as they are a pre-war bot made to look and feel humanly as possible, and is suffering from Pinocchio syndrome. Dom doesn't care ("Pfff! Who needs a body? I'm all digital ba-by!") and openly mocks the issue. Blue ultimately wishes to help people, while Dom just wants to make sure Blue finds better music.
Song Inspos: Blue; Sarah Stiles "Drift Away" + Ray Charles "I Can't Stop Loving You". Dom; KIRA & Hatsune Miku "Digital Girl" + the entirety of Macintosh Plus - "Floral Shoppe".
EDIT: Added song inspos

Big Mac
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the mac. Here's how Charles Macintosh discovered that a rubber layer between two pieces of cloth made for a #waterproof #fabtic #textiles

Father George, a dye manufacturer, sent round collectors to pay the poorer denizens of Glasgow for their urine, from which he extracted ammonia. This he used in the manufacture of cudbear, a valuable violet-reddish dye obtained from…

Thanks for the ask, but also oh jeez. this has never been my forte. ask me again after the music tourney and maybe I'll have a more complete/better answer for you, but off the top of my head...

Darwin's Dilemma In-browser, Classic Mac, André Ouimet and Nicholas Schlott, 1990)
The puzzle game of endless forms most pushable; also includes the earlier game by one of the authors. You can play them in your browser here.
The in-game help is a must. Tips: in both games, the screen wraps around, which applies to your own movement and that of kicked icons - you can even kick an icon on the other side of the playfield this way. Kicking is slightly simplified in Darwin's Dilemma. The emulated Command key is Alt.
Warning to headphone users: if you close the high score board while the cheering sound it playing, the sound will momentarily, unpleasantly glitch.

THE ICONIC MAC Mackintosh
The Mackintosh story began at the dawn of the industrial revolution in the early 19th Century when Scottish chemist Charles Macintosh invented a new method of waterproofing cotton.
THIS DAY IN HISTORY Source
12th of October 1823: Charles Macintosh sells the first raincoat.
153 YEARS LATER, her husband is born.
Remember… I met him through one of my best friends, which I think is the best kind of introduction you can get. — Caitríona Balfe, The Late Late Show, RTÉ One, 16 February 2016
