Help Us Save Our Family in Gaza

Winter is coming, and our close family in Gaza has lost everything in the ongoing war. We have four nieces—Sham (6), Sara (5), Kinda (3), and Nadin (3)—who are living in a makeshift tent with their parents and grandparents in Al Mawasi. The cold is unbearable, and rainwater seeps into their fragile tent, leaving them exposed to the harsh weather. Their grandmother is battling cancer, and the family has lost their home and all their possessions.

We've already helped them with food and medicine, but the crisis is overwhelming, and our funds are not enough. We're raising money to provide shelter, food, and medicine, and hopefully, help them escape Gaza to start a new life in Cairo, Egypt.

Even the smallest donation—as little as $5—can make a huge difference in providing warmth and safety to our family during these difficult times. We appreciate any support you can give.

We wake up to a new morning full of fatigue

First ,,, we walk a long distance before daylight in order to save water for drinking and for many uses.

Secondly,,, we stand for hours in front of the bakery to buy bread.

Thirdly,,, we also go a long way to stop a very long line to get some food

Fourth,,, my children go to collect some wood and leaves to make a fire to cook some food, drink, and wash themselves.

We spend all our time tired and in hardship, living in an unhealthy and unsuitable place among scattered fabrics and sand. We cannot bear the extreme cold. My children have contracted many diseases due to cold and hunger.

Last night, 🌧️ as heavy rain poured and fierce winds howled, 🌬️ and darkness cloaked the world like a heavy curtain, 🌌 my children found a small cat by the door of our tent. 🐾 It looked at them with frightened eyes, 😟 seeking the warmth of their little bodies and the safety of their embrace. 🤲 Without hesitation, they gently carried it, ❤️ brought it into their tattered bed, 🛏️ and fed it and gave it water from the little they had. 🍞💧

The cat slept peacefully among them, 😴 unaware that it had chosen a cold refuge, ❄️ surrounded by shivering little bodies. 🥶 It didn’t know that those who made it feel safe were themselves terrified by the roar of airplanes ✈️ and the relentless sounds of bombing. 💥

In a world of war, where the hearts of grown-ups shrink under the weight of pain, 💔 the hearts of children remain vast. 💞 Their hearts are tender, while the war is harsh... unbearably harsh. 😔

“I am Mai, and this is my story.”

My name is Mai, I’m 28 years old, from Gaza. I used to live a simple and stable life with my family of seven. But the war took everything from us.

Overnight, we went from being a family with a home and dreams to refugees with nowhere to go. Our house was completely destroyed, and we were forced to leave our area by the occupation under the pretense of seeking safety—safety that we have yet to find.

My mother had heart surgery before the war, but she never got the chance to recover due to the displacement and hardships. Now, she needs medication that is either unavailable or far too expensive for us to afford.

My brother suffered a severe injury to his hand when a nearby mosque was bombed. He needed 80 stitches and now requires physical therapy to regain the use of his hand, but our circumstances make that impossible.

Even the basics of life are out of reach. We drink unsafe water, and food has become a luxury with skyrocketing prices. Every day I wake up feeling helpless, but I am doing everything I can to support my family through this crisis.

I appeal to you to be our voice. To extend a helping hand so we can live with dignity and regain even a small part of what we’ve lost.
