I'll Follow Your Lead - My Hero
~Also on my Ao3 and Wattpad~
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
College has been kicking my ass but I recently got n influx of Jack Dawson edits on the TikTok fyp and I felt ✨inspired✨ So here you go! Also, Trigger warning!!! Sexual assault is not explicitly depicted but is heavily implied
Jack had just finished his first shift at Rinaldi’s - helping Elmer haul supplies from the delivery truck to the pantry – and he was sitting at the back of the dining room smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer. A few performers had already come and gone as the curtains opened on the stage once again. The band was playing the beginning of a jazzy tune and the curtains revealed something Jack had not expected. Dorothea stood in the middle of the stage. She was adorned in a beautiful pale blue dress the bottom of it trailed a bit behind her and every inch of the dress sparkled in the stage lights. She sparkled in the stage lights. Jack was speechless. He set his drink down and leaned forward in his chair as Dorothea began singing. Her voice was rich and clear as it rang through the dining room. Jack hung on her every word.
“Isn’t she a star,” Margarette sighed as she brought Jack his dinner – free of charge by request of Dorothea. “She’s such a rare talent, that girl.”
“Yeah, she is. I didn’t know she sang,” He said.
“She’s a shy girl. She’s been that way since she turned up on our doorstep,” Margarette chuckled and gave Jack a fond smile before going back to the kitchen.
Jack fumbled for his sketchbook, desperate to capture this version of Dorothea on paper. He sketched quickly and loosely. He would return to the drawing later with details but for now, he mostly focused on actually looking at her. He knew that he would not soon forget her like this.
She had seen him in the crowd. How could she not have he was basically the only person there; well she certainly felt that way. As she hurried back to her dressing room to change back into her regular clothes, she was unaware that another man had watched her perform. The man from the café.
“Dorothea, dear, you’re food will be ready in the kitchen when you’re done!” Margarette called through the door of the small dressing room.
“Alright!” Dorothea responded. She carefully removed the gems that glittered in her hair and watched in the mirror as her hair fell over her shoulders and down her back.
“beautiful, is what I was gonna say.”
Jack’s compliments from the day of the party rang in her ears and caused warmth to bloom over her face and neck. A girlish smile stretched across her lips as she continued to undress. Just as she had managed to unlace the corset of her dress, someone knocked on the door. Dorothea thought nothing of it, believing it to be the old seamstress who usually helps her in and out of costumes - foolish
“Come in!” The door slowly creaked open, “You’re a little too late, Inez, I’ve already got the corset off,” She laughed.
“Then I suppose I have impeccable timing.”
After quickly finishing his preliminary sketch, Jack rushed off to find out where he could see Dorothea. Finding his way back to the kitchen he met Elmer and Margarette chatting by the stove. Elmer was the first to notice the young man enter.
“Jack, my boy! Come back for seconds?” Elmer’s deep voice broke into a rumbling chuckle. Jack smiled,
“Not this time. I wanted to know where I could find Dorothea. I want to tell her how well she did tonight,” Jack sat his sketchbook on the kitchen counter before stuffing his hands in his pockets. Elmer and Margarette shared a look that can only be described as knowing.
“Of course! I was just heading that way to fetch her for dinner. Come with me.” Elmer held an arm out to beckon Jack over. As they walked toward a hallway at the back of the room, the older man clapped Jack on the back. “Was this the first performance you’ve seen?”
Jack nodded. “She never even told me she performed here.”
Elmer barked out a laugh and shook his head, “That doesn’t surprise me-“ He paused to say hello to one of the musicians as they entered the part of the hallway lined with dressing rooms, “That girl seems to be allergic to giving herself any praise.”
“Well, I-“
A scream cut Jack off from down the hallway. His eyebrows furrowed and looked at Elmer who had a similar facial expression.
“That sounded like it came from her dressing room-“
“Help!”
Both men took off down the hallway. Jack was much faster than Elmer and quickly came to a wooden door with Dorothea’s name on it. He swung the door open and was temporarily stunned by the sight in front of him. It was him. The man from that one day in the café who had come looking for Dorothea. He had her with a harsh grip on her shoulders and was attempting to push her to the floor. Dorothea held one hand against the man’s chest, trying to push him off, while her other hand clawed at the loose fabric of her dress trying to keep it from falling. Dorothea’s wild, frightened eyes met Jack’s, and a fleeting look of relief flitted across her face.
“Jack!” She shrieked out his name and that called him to action. He rushed forward and grasped the man by his collar yanking him backward. The man stumbled in surprise and let go of Dorothea, who dropped to the floor from the sudden loss of opposing force. Just as the man turned to face the new presence in the room, Jack met his face with one of the hardest punches he’s ever thrown. A fleshy smack sounded through the room before the man fell to the ground. However, he wasn’t down long before Jack hauled him up by his jacket and tossed him out through the open door where Elmer and a few of his men happened to be coming in. The man fell pathetically at their feet, dazed.
“Haul ‘im up, boys, and get him outta here,” Elmer demanded. “I’ll be right back,” He told Jack before following his boys out of the hall. Jack whirled on his heel and knelt down beside Dorothea who had yet to get up from the floor.
Dorothea had never felt so afraid in her life. Her heart was beating a million miles a minute and she couldn’t seem to catch her breath. The hand that wasn’t holding her in a sitting position felt paralyzed in its unwavering grip on her dress. Her gaze immediately went to Jack as he knelt down beside her. His eyes searched over her with a worried expression making sure she hadn’t been hurt.
“Are you okay?” He asked as he just barely let his hand graze the skin of her arm. He quickly shook his head and squeezed his eyes shut, “What a dumb question, Jack” he murmured to himself before opening his eyes again. This time his gaze was locked on Dorothea’s face. Even in this frazzled state, she fought the urge to right her appearance, knowing that she probably looked awful with her tear-stained face and mussed-up hair. Her mouth opened and closed but the sound eluded her. Her breathing quickened as it started to feel like air wasn’t even passing through her lips.
“Okay, okay, Dory, you need to take a deep breath, alright? Can you try that?” Jack asked. Dorothea blinked in surprise before shaking her head. She couldn’t do it.
“Come on, yeah you can. Let me show you,” Jack took a gentle hold of the hand that was holding her up and pulled her to sit up further. He supported her back with his other hand while placing her hand on his chest. He knew she could feel his own racing heart just as she knew he could feel her shoulders rising up and down from her rapid breaths. Jack took a deep breath and Dorothea watched as her hand rose and fell with him. She struggled for a moment to copy his breaths and squeezed her eyes shut in concentration.
Elmer made his way back down the hallway, adjusting the rings on his hand as he walked. As he came upon Dorothea’s dressing room he paused. Jack and Dorothea were still on the floor and Jack was still helping Dorothea with her breathing. Elmer watched as Dorothea’s breathing slowly became more even to match Jack’s and watched as Jack’s eyes watched Dorothea as if she’d disappear. The older man smiled with a twinkle in his eye as he decided to go straight to the kitchen to inform his wife of the incident but - more importantly - to leave the two alone for a while longer.
Dorothea opened her eyes and was caught off guard by immediately meeting Jack’s gaze. Even though her breathing had evened out several moments ago, they were still in the same place: Jack holding Dorothea’s hand to his chest while also supporting her seated position. She sniffed and mustered up a weak smile. He returned it with a crooked one of his own.
“You-“ She paused to clear her throat, “You called me Dory.”
“Huh?” Jack couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. That’s what she chooses to talk about?
Dorothea swallowed hard, “Just a few minutes ago. You called me Dory. Only Angeline calls me that.”
“Oh,” Jack frowned, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know I wasn’t-“
“I liked it.”
Jack gave another small smile before moving to stand. Dorothea’s hand quickly tightened, grabbing a fistful of Jack’s shirt to stop him from moving. “What are you doing?” The wild look in her eye from before was resurfacing but Jack was quick to reassure her.
“We gotta get you standing so you can change, right?”
“Oh, yes.” Dorothea’s hand relaxed and Jack grasped it to help her stand up, still keeping his other hand on her back. Dorothea looks at Jack’s hand and her eyes widen. “Jack! Your hand, it’s bleeding!”
“Yeah, that usually happens after punching someone in the face.” He laughed when Dorothea sent him a disapproving glare.
“We have to get this cleaned up before it gets infected!”
“No, you have to get dressed.”
Dorothea suddenly became very aware that her dress had barely stayed up this entire time, still only held by her hand. This time there was no way to hide the redness in her cheeks.
“Right.” Dorothea let go of Jack’s hand to further cover herself even though nothing was actually exposed. Jack took a step back to give her some space. He vaguely gestured toward the door,
“I’ll be right outside.”
As Dorothea dressed, she caught glimpses of herself in the mirror. The man had left bruises. His handprints were seared into the skin of her arm in the form of yellowish outlines. She almost started to cry again. The idea that those handprints would remain there for days after he touched her made her feel sick to the stomach. She didn’t know if she could stand to even look at food right now. Luckily, her blouse sleeves covered up the bruises and she wouldn’t have to look at them – at least for now. She felt too tired to bother putting her hair up again and decided to let the curls have their way and fall around her shoulders and face. She finally opened the door and poked her head out, only fully emerging when her eyes landed on Jack who was leaning against the opposite was with an unlit cigarette in his mouth. His head snapped up at the sound of the door opening and he gave Dorothea a smile.
“Come on, I’m sure Elmer and Margarette are waiting for you.” He said. He held his hand out for her to take but she declined by hugging herself tightly. She did not want to be touched right now. She felt disgusting. If Jack was offended by her rejection, Dorothea noted that he didn’t show it and instead put his hand in his pocket and smiled once again. Dorothea appreciated that more than he would ever know. She kept her arms wrapped around herself even as they walked silently down the hallway toward the kitchen. Everyone had left at this point so the only sound heard was their footsteps against the stone floor.
Elmer and Margarette ceased their conversation at the sound of footsteps coming toward the kitchen. Margarette quickly removed her apron and rushed to meet Dorothea at the door before ushering her toward the table in the middle of the room.
“Sit, miei cari, sit.”
“Margarette, I-I’m fine, really I am. You needn’t fuss over me,” Dorothea’s voice was soft as if she had lost it.
“I won’t hear any of that! You sit down and let me take care of you.” Margarette’s voice broke a little at the end of her sentence. She knew what Dorothea was feeling. She had never wanted Dorothea to feel that way.
Elmer turned to Jack who had stayed in the doorway and gestured for him to come closer. When Jack was close enough, Elmer laid a heavy hand on his shoulder and gave a reassuring squeeze.
“You did good, boy. You did good. Now, let’s see that hand.”
“Oh, no, sir I don’t need-“
“That was a mean hook you laid on him and I know a thing or two about splittin’ knuckles. Let’s see ‘em.” Elmer left no room for argument. Jack raised his right hand so that Elmer could see. His knuckles were red and swollen – they’d be bruised tomorrow – and there was dried blood on the webbing of his fingers. “Not too bad. Go wash your hands and I’ll show you how to bandage them up nice and tight.”
After the two adults had sufficiently fixed up Jack and Dorothea, they sent them off. Margarette, Elmer, and Jack insisted that Jack walk Dorothea back to the lodging house despite her protests that it wasn’t necessary.
“Miei cari, He could be waiting for you to leave.”
And that was all it took for Dorothea to agree. The pair walked for a long time in silence. As they walked, Dorothea kept her arms firmly wrapped around herself. She stared down at the ground and chewed on the inside of her cheek. Jack split his time between looking at Dorothea and looking around to make sure that guy wasn’t lurking around anywhere. He was worried about Dorothea and even more about having to leave her alone.
“Will you be alright once you get home?” He asked.
“Yes.”
“What about tomorrow morning? Don’t you work?”
“Yes. I’m sure it will be fine.” Dorothea looked up at Jack and smiled. She was flattered that Jack was worrying this much about her. She had been thinking about how quickly he had come into the dressing room to help her. Dorothea had never been so grateful for anyone in her whole life. She furrowed her eyebrows,
“How did you know I needed help?”
“I heard you scream from down the hall. I was coming with Elmer to tell you how great you were tonight but I never got the chance.”
Dorothea hummed in understanding as she returned her gaze to the ground.
“You did great tonight, by the way.” He said with a grin. Dorothea couldn’t help the watery laugh that escaped her lips. She didn’t even realize she had started to cry again.
“Thank you, Jack.” She said just as they neared the steps of the house. They stopped on the landing and turned to face each other.
“Of course! I mean why didn’t you ever tell me you could sing like that-“
“I meant for saving me, you daft boy!” She rolled her eyes and smiled lightly.
“Oh, yeah, that,” Jack scratched the back of his neck with his bandaged hand and tried to suppress the warmth climbing his neck. “I just did what anyone would have done.”
“But anybody didn’t. You did.” Dorothea said in a very serious tone. “For that, I owe you more than you could possibly imagine. You were my hero tonight.” Dorothea smiled, this time a real one as if she had no control.
Jack couldn’t stop his face from flushing so he quickly looked away. “You don’t owe me anything, Dory.” He said, finally looking back down at her. She nodded, though they both knew she didn’t believe him, before turning to head inside. “But if you wanted to keep calling me that,” She paused to look back at him and he swallowed, “I, um, I wouldn’t complain.” He shrugged his shoulders, trying to be casual as he pointedly looked everywhere but at Dorothea.
Dorothea hummed again. Just before she closed the door she said, “My hero.”
As the door clicked shut and Jack let out a puff of air, he knew he looked like an idiot standing on her doorstep with the widest grin known to man, and he couldn’t care less.

7 Things to Know Before Buying a MacBook
If you’re planning to buy a laptop, the chances are you end up picking a MacBook. All Apple products come with an intuitive operating system and sleek design, and the MacBook is one of them. Hardware configuration is another aspect that will grab your attention. Before you buy the MacBook, there are several things that you should know to make an informed purchase. Learning about the educational discounts and processing power available on different variants will help you pick the specs that are right for you. Let’s discuss what you need to know about MacBooks before buying them. Processor In 2020, Apple launched the Silicon chip and moved away from Intel processors. These chips are more power-efficient and include unified memory and better security. The never-seen-before chip-enabled all Apple devices to share a common architecture. Due to the common architecture, developers are now able to optimize their apps more easily. Older Intel-based Macs have their own benefits, as they allow you to install Windows with Boot Camp, Silicon MacBooks are simply efficient, so opt for the latter one. Ports & Connections When working on MacBooks, you will need to connect multiple peripherals to keep the work going. Both MacBook M1 and M2 come with only two Thunderbolt-enabled USB-C ports and an audio jack. In that case, you may turn on AirDrop on Mac to share files wirelessly. MacBook Pro, both 14-inch and 16-inch, gives you multiple connectivity options that include three USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4, an SD card slot, an HDMI port, and a MagSafe port for charging. Identify what ports you need and pick a MacBook that fits your needs. Display Size and Resolution When buying a MacBook, the display and quality or resolution should be the top concern. Most MacBook models in the current lineup feature a Retina display; some variants are better than their counterparts, so dive through the details before buying one. For example, the 16-inch and 14-inch models feature a ProMotion display that supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. If you are a graphic designer, a photographer, or someone who is concerned about color reproduction, the mini-LED panels will impress you. RAM and Storage Your MacBook’s memory and storage specifications describe its performance after the processor you select. When it comes to processors, you would want to buy the best option that can give you the highest performance within your budget. M1 MacBook base models come with 8 GB memory and 256 GB storage, appropriate for users who don’t require working with intensive apps. Depending on the budget, you can opt for 16 GB RAM if you’re a video editor, developer, animator, or filmmaker. New or Used Most users spend considerable amounts of time thinking about whether they should buy a new Mac or get a used one. However, the decision should be pretty simple. If your budget allows you to buy a new MacBook, avoid buying a used laptop. Now only a new MacBook is less prone to security issues, but it gives you a one-year warranty that covers most hardware and software-related issues. AppleCare+ Warranty gives you peace of mind that you won’t spend anything out of your pocket if any problem pops up. AppleCare + Subscription On buying a new MacBook, you get a 1-year AppleCare warranty which you can extend for as long as three years. Buying AppleCare Plus can be expensive as you need to pay more money upfront, and it can be difficult to handle the repair costs later. MacBooks usually perform excellently and are not likely to display any hardware or software errors. However, repairing a damaged Mac can be too expensive to deal with. So, make sure to buy extended AppleCare Plus plans as per your budget. Education Discounts If you are a college student, you can save money with Apple’s Education Pricing plans on purchasing a new MacBook or other Apple products. The special education discount is available exclusively for university students and staff. With this discount offer, students can save $100 on MacBook Air M1 and M2. Student discounts are available on iPads too. So if you are a student, don’t forget to carry your university ID to the store when buying a MacBook. The Conclusion When you are planning to buy a MacBook, wait for seasonal offers and discounts to bag the right deal. Apple Silicon MacBooks give you the best performance ever, and each model comes with an excellent resolution display. With a little more budget, you can buy a MacBook Pro. Since these devices are designed with professional tasks in mind, they deliver performance par excellence. Regardless of the MacBook model you purchase, don’t forget to power it with AppleCare Plus plans. So, keep these things in mind when you are in the market to purchase a MacBook. Keep your budget in mind when selecting your new laptop, and try not to exceed the limit. Read the full article

Hot Bunk
Part 1
The Navy had finally addressed one of the personal space oddities of submarine life: the hot bunk. There wasn’t a bed for everyone; sailors shared a berth with two other sailors on different shifts. Sailors often said that the bunk was usually still warm from the previous sleeping shift; thus the term “hot bunk.” In order to grant the sailors the semblance of their own personal space in such a tight environment, the Navy installed a collapsible bunk system where every sailor had their own rack with their own bedding; which flattened and folded into the wall so that the next occupant’s rack could be set up when needed. They say it was for personal hygiene improvement and to allow personal space boundaries; but the rumor was to stop sailors from jacking off to the warm musky smell of the rack’s previous occupant. It also eliminated any chance of a double heat bunk- two sailors seeking each other’s ports; as the new bunks had weight and “force” sensors that would alert the XO. Not very fun. Seaman Nathaniel Byrne slunk into the bunk room after a long shift maintaining the sub’s nuclear reactor. There had been an odd radiation leak in the coolant system that Nate and his team had spent a lot of time trying to lock down. Nate ended up spending a lot of time up between the coolant manifolds; his slender well toned frame allowed him to get into spaces some others couldn’t. He didn’t fit in with his radiation suit on; he had to strip down to his boxers in order to fit. The chief Engineer assured him that the radiation levels weren’t a danger to him; the readings on the console were not in the red zone. It was hard work in a hot confined space; and Nate was exhausted. His chief let him off early due to all his hard work. He quickly showered off and keyed in his bunk code. The racks started rotating on their conveyor chain; his bunk set in place and unfolded itself. Nate crashed into the bunk and fell fast asleep. The bunk raised itself to upper bunk position so that his roommates could access their rack when their shift ended. Hopefully his early bedtime won’t through off the schedule too much. In his tired state, Nate forgot to set his alarm. Since he was out of sync with his usual schedule, his recurring alarm wasn’t at the right time. Nate slept through the normal time when he should have vacated his bunk.
Nate was so tired that he slept right through the alert beeps that the folding rack uses to announce it is time to fold up. The occupancy sensors were malfunctioning; the optical safety sensors could not sense a presence in the bed. Perhaps Nate picked up some radiation after all; and its decay was blinding the sensors. As it turns out, the radiation may have had other effects... The bunk rack went through all of its safety protocols and was satisfied that it was empty. Even if something was left in the bunk, the pressure sensors on the bunk above would be the last line of defense; and would shut down the process when it felt resistance. It started to fold up toward the ceiling to free up space for the next occupant. Nate was startled awake when his nose brushed up against something flat. He opened his eyes to see the underside of the bunk above his touching his nose. The folding process continued pressing down on his nose; Nate thought he imagined the tip of his nose start to compress. Even in his groggy state, Nate assured himself that the well-advertised safety system would soon sense his presence and stop the process. After all, the brochure said, the Navy can’t go around maiming all its sailors; it has to be safe. The bunk did not stop. The bunk pressed Nate’s nose flat to his face. Nate shouted out and started to move his arms and thighs up to press against the bunk to trip the sensor. As Nate exerted pressure on the underside of the bunk, his limbs felt awfully funny. The exertion of force seemed to bend them rather than apply pressure to the bunk; as if the bunk was an unmoveable force. In this case, it was. the pressure sensor didn’t sense anything in the trigger zone; so it continued the folding process. At this point Nate could feel the flat underside of the bunk on his toes, legs, chest, face, and the remains of his morning wood. His wood! His dick was compressing in on itself; gaining girth as it received pressure. Nate tried to wiggle it (and the rest of himself) back and forth to try to shimmy out of the tight squeeze, but he felt too weak to do so. The bunk-stowing continued. At this point, Nate’s nose and mouth were pressed shut; so there was no longer anyway to yell out. His face started to flatten out completely; conforming to the underside of the bunk. his well defined pecs were now flattened to man boobs; as the previously toned muscle was moved to the side trying to find space. Nate could feel his legs becoming flat on top; no longer any knees or definition. As the pressure increased from the continued folding process, Nate could feel his body mass start to find paths of least resistance, which caused his profile to bulge outward. There was no longer any difference of height on his front, it was pressed flat into one continuous plane. ‘How much longer can this go on?’ Nate wondered. He was beyond freaking out, facts and ideas were racing through his head, trying to figure a way out of this mess. He seemed to remember that the bunk mattress and bedding was designed to flatten in the folding process to about an inch thick; and re-expand when opened. Maybe that would happen for him?! No slow down in the process; as the bunk continued its progress. Nate was a uniform 4” thick and thinning fast. The bunk thought it had at least 3 more inches to go to hit its designed storage position. The pressure continued to increase. Nate’s “footprint” continued to widen as he was compressed. No longer the slim profile that fit so well in the coolant manifold, he would appear to be 3x-4x his weight if 3D. Too bad he was racing to 2D. Nate was now uniformly 2” thick; and approaching 2’ wide. He gained a bit of height as his body mass shifted outward; approaching 7 feet tall. Nate had the startling realization that he stopped breathing a while ago and didn’t notice. His lungs were approaching paper thin; and didn’t have anywhere to go. The pressure continued. As the bunk rack neared its final position, Nate was now a uniform 1” thick. The mattress below him gave more than his flesh did; he took up its usual space. Nate could feel his flesh start to press against the edges of the bunk frame; he was approaching a perfect rectangle in shape. There was a vague head-shaped curve at the top; but everything from his shoulders down was squared off. Nate thought again about his dick and balls; his shaft looked to have wine bottle girth; but was cardboard thin. His balls had each flattened to platter size; and were glued to the front of his legs. Even with all of his current situation, it annoyed Nate how they felt stuck to his legs. Really it was the least of his worries. The rack was now compacted; and rotated up into the ceiling to the storage rack. Other unused racks piled on top; waiting to be called up by their owner. Nate relaxed; at least the pressure stopped building. As minutes turned to hours, Nate finally settled down and let his mind drift. Nothing to see, to do; bored. Nate drifted off to sleep.
The XO of the ship set about reviewing his normal morning shift operations routines for the ship. Night shift report, maintenance performed, duty roster- ‘That’s odd’ thought the XO, as he reviewed the Engineering Chief’s personnel report. Seaman Byrne didn’t show up for roll call. He scanned the nightly med bay log and didn’t see Byrne’s name on it. There was a notation of time off for yesterday’s reactor maintenance, but that ended last shift. Was Byrne ok? Or intentionally skipping duty? Well- seeing that they were on a submarine; he didn’t run off. Time to alert the Sergeant-at-Arms. “Sergeant Jameson! Go roust out Seaman Byrne; seems he is late for duty.” “Yes Sir- on it sir!”
Jameson was thrilled. Byrne had turned down the opportunity to join the security detail and chose to remain in Engineering. He felt that smug punk Byrne thought he was better than him; Now Jameson had a reason to get some payback for the slight. Jameson charged down to crew’s quarters looking forward to knocking Byrne down a notch. Sergeant Jameson burst into the bunk room shouting, “Byrne- if you overslept and shirked duty, your ass is mine!” All Jameson found was a groggy ship’s cook coming off of breakfast duty. “Can I help ‘ya, Sarge?” The cook sheepishly offered. “Have you seen Byrne?” “No; he left the bunk room a mess. He didn’t stow his gear after leaving his bunk this morning.” ‘That’s another strike’ thought Jameson. “Clear out so that I can inspect his bunk.” “Sure thing.” After the cook left, Sarge keyed in his override code and called up Byrne’s bunk. The racks started rotating and flipping in and out of storage. Finally Nate’s bunk rotated down; leaving the bunk above still at the ceiling. Nate startled awake- his backside was suddenly cold and exposed. He still couldn’t see. Nate was suctioned to the underside of the bunk above. This was his chance: perhaps if he could wiggle, he could fall and escape. Sarge inspected the empty bunk for any signs as to where Nate was. He looked for contraband or anything out of the ordinary. The mattress was flatter than spec; ‘I wonder what Byrne has been doing on it?’ Sarge thought. Nate could hear someone below him. It was Sargent Jameson. Nate knew that Sarge had it in for him; but at least Sarge would uphold his oath and help his fellow sailor, right? Nate put even more effort into wiggling. He could feel his balls start to unstick from the bunk ; and an air pocket forming. Sargent had just about given up. There was no indication where Byrne had gone in his bunk. The last place to look is his locker. ‘Mind as well stow the bunk’ thought Sarge. Sarge keyed in the storage code. The bunk system started to life, jiggling Nate free. Nate landed on sarge, knocking him over. Nate was relieved- Sarge would help him right? At least bring him to the med bay? Something? “What the hell?!” Shouted Sarge. He quickly grabbed his attacker and flung him to the floor. It was only a mattress pad. Wait- or is it? Embossed on the surface seemed to be the shape of a naked man, only flattened into a smooth plane. He recognized who the mat looked like- Seaman Byrne. Sarge reached out and touched the surface of what looked to be the man’s chest. The surface was warm to the touch; his cold hands made the surface break out in goosebumps. Just then, the mat opened its eyes. “Holy-! It is you, Byrne!” Sarge got excited. “This could be fun- I can take my revenge out on you...” Nate shuddered a bit. What would Sarge do to him?! Isn’t he going to help me get back to normal? Sarge keyed in his rack code to call up his berth. When it finally rotated into place, Sarge placed Nate on his rack and sent it back into storage. “I’ll come back for you later. All the XO needs to know is that I found you and put you on rest. Heh heh heh...” Nate was trapped again! The return of the compression eventually calmed Nate down enough to to drift off again.

Ooooh, one hell of a language warning on this one. Not a happy Tracy at all.
For @soniabigcheese for Gordon and Bedlam.
-o-o-o-
“Gordon!” Scott’s yell was echoed by John
Virgil didn’t think, he just moved.
Two was banking before he was even fully in his pilot’s seat, her massive thrusters firing to accelerate her down and around the listing platform.
“For Christ’s sake, hold still, you idiot.”
It was said under his breath, but Gordon’s voice carried over comms like a wave of reassurance. As Two darted under the platform, Virgil was both relieved and horrified to find the rescuee dangling from a hastily deployed grapple line.
Gordon was clinging to mangled superstructure not far below the hole he had leapt through. “Uh, hey, Virg. Need a little hand.”
Further up, Scott was peering through the hole in the tarmac.
An exhalation. “FAB, Gordon.”
Mental calculations and Virgil managed to squeeze Two up and under the victim. The collapsed runway was far too close for comfort, but he managed it with an inch or so to spare.
Rising out of Two’s top hatch, he was greeted with a wriggling wreck of a man. “About time.”
Virgil bit back his response. “Please hold still, sir.”
“Finally, I can get off this boat.”
Virgil felt no guilt at his urge to want to slap the man. Gordon’s grapple, as always, had been right on target, snagging the victim’s belt in its claw. The guy obviously had no idea how close he had come to dying…or the danger to Gordon.
If he cared at all.
The fact that there were at least three holocams buzzing around filming them was, oddly, a little reassuring. Perhaps Jack could press charges.
As Virgil took the man’s weight and released the grapple, the groan of pain from Gordon over comms only emphasized what the man had done.
Virgil bit his lip until it hurt.
Definitely pressing charges.
He held the man until his feet touched the hatch plates and made sure he could take his own weight before lowering them into the cockpit.
He fingered his comms. “Scott, are you able to reach Gordon? I can try, but its tight up there. Two will not be able to get close enough without further structural damage.” Not that he would let that stop him, but the platform was unstable and a thousand lives were still dependent on it.
“FAB, Thunderbird Two. I have him secured with a grapple line. Gordon, status?”
Their aquanaut brother grunted, but Virgil lost the rest of his answer as the rescuee started protesting that he was fine and no, he didn’t need to lie down and could he sit in the co-pilot’s seat?
Virgil’s abrupt ‘No!’ apparently wasn’t enough to shut him up.
Virgil did not have time for this.
Deploying the seat furthest from the dash, he strapped the man into it.
“Hey, I want to sit up front.”
“You will sit here.” And shut up.
“Do you know who I am?”
An idiot? “I don’t care.”
Virgil turned his back on him and did his best to ignore the man’s protests as he realised that, no, he couldn’t undo his seatbelt.
There was no way Virgil was going to have this moron free to wander around his ship.
“Thunderbird Four? Status?”
Instead of Gordon, Scott answered. “Pulling him up now, Thunderbird Two. Gordon is secure.”
Oh, thank god.
Virgil couldn’t help peering up out of the windows and checking for himself. Far above, Scott could be seen hauling Gordon up with his own grapple gun.
Virgil needed to be topside now.
Two responded to his touch as she always did, smoothly and immediately, the great ship banking away from the structure in a controlled fall. He fired her thrusters launching her up and around the massive platform just in time to see Gordon emerge from the hole in the tarmac.
“Medical report, Gordon.” He had to know.
Again, Scott cut in before Gordon could answer. “Possible sprained wrist, definitely some issue with his right arm. Some bleeding. For goodness sake, Gordon stand still!”
“I’m fine, Scott, we have more important things to do.”
“I’m aware of the situation, Gordon. I want you evacuated to Two.”
Hissed over comms. “Forget it, Scott, I’m not leaving you down here with this mob of idiots by yourself.”
“Gordon!”
Virgil sighed and switched Two into a secure hover. “Thunderbird Five, you have Two, monitor and secure, please.”
“FAB, Thunderbird Two.”
“Have Eos keep an eye on the two patients in the medbay and advise immediately of any change.”
“Monitoring already. Internal cockpit cams active. Eyes active.”
Virgil’s lips twitched as he stood up from his seat. John knew exactly what he was talking about. Leaving Idiot alone on his ‘bird was not ideal, but he couldn’t actually throw the man back into the danger zone.
Grabbing a medkit, Virgil strode back to the hatch and lowered himself down enough to catch a descent line and secure it to his harness.
“What? Where are you going?”
“I’ll be back shortly, sir. No need to worry, you are in safe hands.”
“Hands? Whose hands?”
Virgil didn’t answer before he leapt off the hatch and began his descent down to the platform.
Gordon and Scott were sharing a few stubborn words as Virgil strode across the tarmac. There were still people milling about. He caught sight of Penelope’s father desperately trying to talk several suited individuals into returning to the pods.
It was enough to frustrate even Virgil’s patience.
He was almost to his brothers when the first words were thrown his way.
“That’s the one who killed all those people in New York!” That same woman’s voice from earlier. Virgil forced himself not to look, focussing instead on his brothers. The crowd began muttering. His name was mentioned several times.
The moment he reached Gordon, Scott handed him over and returned to attempting to handle the crowd.
That didn’t want to be handled.
“Hey, Gords. What have you done to yourself?” A visual inspection revealed a limp arm being held by a tight hand indicating pain. Several tears in his uniform and a glare with enough energy to ignite the air around it.
Worst of all, Gordon was strangely quiet, eyeing the crowd.
Scott again urged everyone to return to the pods. As if to emphasize his request, the wind suddenly picked up and the whole platform shuddered.
John, ever the eagle eye, immediately tagged them on comms. “You might want to hurry up that evac, guys. The weather is stable for the moment, but the forecast for the evening is the arrival of a front. There will be turbulence ahead of the change.”
Virgil was aware of that and had factored it into his calculations when deploying the airjacks.
Didn’t make them impervious to the jostling. “FAB, Thunderbird Five.” He turned to Gordon. “I want you up on Two. Now.”
Gordon’s eyes were still on the crowd and their muttered complaints. Scott was deploying full commander mode and several had backed away, heading towards the stadium, but a core group were either begging to be taken aboard a Thunderbird, glaring at Virgil…or yelling accusations at him.
Gordon pushed past his brother and strode towards the crowd.
“Gordon!”
“Who the fuck do you think you are?!” Gordon’s comms were on loudspeaker and his voice hushed the crowd immediately.
Almost.
One angry man in a GDF uniform stepped forward. “I’m your superior, lieutenant, and I demand-“
“You demand? You have no right to demand anything!”
Virgil reached for his brother, but his hand was shaken off. Scott spun and narrowed in on the both of them, worry the foremost in his expression.
But Gordon ignored it.
“My brothers have done nothing but try to help you, to save you, THAT is what we do. But you assholes won’t listen!” Gordon took a step forward, the hand on his arm white knuckled.
“If you don’t return to your pods now, you are going to die! Is that simplistic enough for you? My brothers will, no doubt, try their best, risk their lives, trying to save yours, but they are not fucking miracle workers. You will DIE, if YOU DON’T MOVE YOUR ASSES!!”
That got several people moving.
But not all.
“Gordon!” Scott’s voice was more worried elder brother than commander.
That earned him a scathing look. “No, Scott, I’ve had it! Did you hear what they are saying about Virgil? They called him a murderer!” His anger turned back to the crowd. “You have no fucking idea who you are talking about. Virgil is the kindest of us, the gentlest, he can’t hurt a damned fly and you accuse him of purposefully killing all those people. He tried to save them.” His brother’s shoulders wilted. “He tried so hard.”
“They still died.” It came from that same world councillor who wanted his own private Thunderbird ride.
Gordon staggered up to the man and Virgil hurried to follow. The tarmac shook again. “Gordon, we need to get these people off the platform.”
His brother ignored him and instead pushed into the councillor’s personal space. “Yes, they did. But you don’t care do you? You have your own fucking agenda. It’s not about lives, is it? It’s about money. It’s about power.” A rough indrawn breath as the man took a step back. “Well, newsflash, asshole, we don’t care! We have the power, we have the money, and we don’t care. My brothers only want to help. Every life is important, even your mediocre and pathetic one. Now, move your ass AND RETURN TO YOUR POD SO WE CAN SAVE YOUR FUCKING LIFE!!”
Gordon staggered with the force of his yell and Virgil was moving. He grabbed at his little brother just as the aquanaut’s body suddenly folded. Virgil caught him before he could hit the tarmac.
What the hell?! “Gordon!”
Voice whisper weak. “Virg.”
He held his brother in his arms while fumbling for the med scanner. “Gords, what the hell are you doing?”
Beneath plexiglass reflecting the sky above, carnelian flickered up at him. Gordon blinked slowly. “They hurt you…” His eyes closed and didn’t open again.

Tasteful
Eyeless Jack x Reader
Word count: 2,014
WARNING: Graphic depictions of violence
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Part 5: Resolutions
"Now, I'm not criticizing you. I'm actually quite impressed (Y/N)." Jack chuckled behind his mask, vining his fingers through the contents of the file. He had brought his chair closer to you now, almost touching your knees as he reveled at the photographs of bloodlet victims. Contorted in pain, beaten beyond recognition, murdered.
You couldn't even glance at them, you tried with all your will to twist away from the sight of them. You couldn't do this... you couldn't see them again...
Not again. He took note of your squirming and yanked the chain, pulling your head back to face his direction. Choking a sob you could now only squeeze your eyes shut.
When you did, you felt a hand crash on the side of your face as he hit you. You gasped and cried out letting the tears that had been pooling into your eyes spill.
"Why so shaken up?" He dug his nails into your numb scalp, holding onto a handful of your hair. Jack got in your face, his voice a low rumble. "You won't even look at what you've done?!"
You did your best to kept your eyes shut tightly, praying this could be over. You couldn't stop the waves of sobs that ripped through your throat. Bringing a searing heat of guilt through every cell of your body.
With his other hand, he gripped your face, digging into your cheekbones painfully with his black claws. To this you gripped his wrist, trying to pry him away.
"Open your FUCKING EYES!!" He roared through gritted teeth then brought his hand down on you again. You took his hit with another gasp and a desperate plea, "Stop!!"
When he pulled your scalp again you cried louder expecting him to strike you again. But instead, you felt the smooth surface of Jack's mask against your ear. "You killed eight people (Y/N)(L/N)... That's why you're here." He said in one long breath.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!?!" You screamed, pounding fists uselessly against his chest. Finally looking into the holes of his mask. There could be nothing seen in them, no show of emotion, expression. No twinkle of the eye behind them. Demon
He snickered, not flinching at the shrill sound of your screams. "Sweetheart, it's not what I want from you. It's what the boss wants. I'm just here to make sure the job gets done." He stood back up quickly, this time yanking the chain down so hard it brought your body forward onto the table. Your collarbone bruising over the hard wooden surface. Jack brought his hand onto the back of your neck, holding your face against the surface, your line of sight forcibly fixed the photographs. Displays of black and red upon paled flesh, blurred through a wall of tears.
"We want to know why (Y/N). Why you killed this many people in one night."
You still struggled to gain composure over your sobs, over your slamming heartbeat. Your tears spilled out and formed a pool underneath your face. Falling apart, your legs shaking violently, uncontrollably. You didn't even know most of their names. Trying to shake your head, you blinked away more droplets from your eyes. "I don't know..." You barely rasped out. Minded overflowing with murky thoughts, it all became too fragmented. You felt like your heart would rupture, hyperventilating, choking on your own pitiful weeping.
"What was that?" Jack spat, his body looming too close to your back. "You don't know??" Releasing his hand from your neck he threw back his arm, holding the chain using all of his force to pull you over. So strong the joints in your necks popped and stretched painfully at the pulling. With a swift movement of his boot, he kicked the chair from underneath your body. Forcing you to fall back, the chain leading by your throat. Headfirst, he made your body collapse to the kitchen tiles. Suddenly the wind was knocked from your lungs by this, and you let out a silent wail of pain. Your muscles freezing from its hot bite through your core. This danced with the agony of your skull taking yet another uncountable blow from the ceramic floor.
Then he was on top of you, throwing his leg over your side, straddling your stomach as he leaned over you. Suffocating and violating. Every joint through your spine ached from the pressure of his large, heavy body. It only exasperated the panic need for a steady flow of oxygen in your lungs.
"That answer wasn't good enough." He shook his head in mock, laughing lowly at your distress.
His black claws traced down your cheeks, to your lips, and down your chin. "Now you're going to listen closely to me. This is what is going to happen." He composed his voice again. Almost like he was trying to come off reasonably. Through heavy lids you gave in, looking up at him. Waiting for his directions, pleading in your eyes. Not like he cared.
"How you make it out of this house is up to you. But I was put in charge to put you through this, I was chosen to break you down, and peel away your walls piece by piece. Whatever it takes." He inched his blue face closer to you, sighing harshly. Tilting your chin up to him with his claw, your throat bobbed against it as you gulped down some more air you thirst for. "You can either let whatever happens to you happen. Or you can show me what you're fucking made of."
You couldn't stop your body from shuddering at the threats in his monstrous voice. His vocals changing into something violent, dark. Then drifting back to his normal tone, then a gravelly whisper,
"Either way, I'm going to break you down. That's the goal."
Jack's claws now drawn over the soft pounding pulse in your throat. Prodding it temptingly, feeling that delicious warm blood hidden behind a shield of skin against his finger. Lifting his head up and taking another long, proud sigh. "I'm going to make you as cold as the rest of us, little thing~"
Finally, he got off of you, still not taking his hand off the chain as he came back to his feet looking over your exhausted form. Desperate to catch your breath and to ease the screams throughout your body. You just lied there, trying to think of all the ways this just couldn't be happening. Praying for mercy, praying he would just lock you up in the closet again. Let you starve to death if it meant he would leave you alone.
He tilted his head, his hair falling over his masked face. "Don't worry though," He spoke again in a softer voice, watching you as your tears spilled endlessly over your face. "I've been strictly forbidden to kill you. I'll at least make an effort of it."
This brought no comfort, being unable to fathom the amount of torture your in for. Days? Months? Years? Was this now your life?
Jack pulled again on the chain, your body dragging toward him on the slick tiles. You groaned in pain, gripping the collar to help alleviate some of the tension. You curled into the fetal position, trying to protect your head.
While your eyes were closed he reached down with his free hand to slip under your arm. You flinched at his touch again but fell limp as his other arm snaked around your torso, lifting it off the ground to drag your sore body from the kitchen into the living room. He never faltered in his actions, like the dead weight was nothing to him.
When he had you pulled over the victorian carpet he dug his claws into your soft flesh, lifting your shoulders up to the couch. You cried in a distressed squeal, trying to keep your head covered still. Your body wanting to curl into a tight ball and disappear from him.
He tried to bring you to your feet but the muscles in your calves and knees felt like liquid.
Jack growled loudly behind his mask, bringing his fist down on the back of your exposed neck then throwing you back onto the couch. You quickly curled into the canvas in a futile attempt to protect yourself. He Brough down his fist again on your side, agony fired through your ribs. Again on your back. Your abdomen. Your head. His loud, angry grunts and growls in between each clobber against your small helpless body.
You couldn't find a way to keep all your weak spots covered from his relentless hitting. But to him, you knew you were just one big weak spot.
"Stop!! please!!" You cried again in your broken screams, muffled by the cushion.
He moved your wrists away from your head and smacked your face hard. You felt something warm spill down from your nose into your lips. Blood sour as copper.
"Then tell me." Jack said flatly, bringing his hand up to batter it down on your face again before you had a chance to take another breath.
"I told you I-" He cut you off. "Oh, you don't know?! So you just happened to kill eight people on a whim? You just beat them to death in their sleep? You don't know?!?!"
You could feel the heat of his disgusting, bloodied breath through his mask as you fought to keep his hands off you. Pulling your clothes and your hair to hold you still while he beat his fist into everywhere he could.
Your screams and cries falling on deaf ears within the walls of the cabin.
At this state, you could hardly even think of an excuse to tell him. You really just don't know... You never think about it. You couldn't explain in words. How could you get him to stop? You could hardly think past just surviving this now. Thrashing about, kicking your feet uncalculated against his body, causing nothing to slow his hammering fists. You knew your flesh turning swollen and bloody in each hit. Numbing and quivering.
"IdontknowIdontknowIdontknowIdon't-" Was all you could manage to screech.
He threw his back upright, his fist raised again, one hand clasped over his other. The rage wafted from him like a stench soaked through the skin. Monster
"I TOLD YOU I DON'T KNOW!!!" A final scream in broken breaths, your voice hardly maintaining the last sound of the word. He stopped, his fist frozen in the air. Claws clenching and unclenching around his palm.
Then it happened again, that strange stream of fluid pooled from the holes in his mask. Noticing this Jack's shoulders rose. He brought his arms down, stepping away from you with his head tilt. Watching inky droplets of black fall to the carpet.
He sighed deep and covered his mask as the black seeped through his fingers profusely.
Using your legs you pushed yourself further into the couch, choking on your strangled breath. Every inch of you burned.
"You don't know." He said again, this time in more of a repeated statement than an accusation. Why did he switch like this suddenly? Slowly Jack realized that the ink was soaking into his clothes. He turned to walk towards the staircase, probably planning to go to his room to fix... whatever was happening to him. Before his boots landed at the bottom of the staircase he spoke over his shoulder to you. His claws gripped the railing, black dripping from his knuckles. "I guess I'll give you some time to think about it."
Now with both his hands trying to wipe away the black, he stepped heavily upward, making his way to the second level. The wood creaked loudly under him, then slamming shut what you assumed was the bathroom door behind him.
With an explosion of relief, you turned your face to the cushion and screamed into it. As much as your already stinging lungs could allow. Just to let everything out. Everything he couldn't beat out of you.
You knew he would torture you every day until he got the answer he wanted.

SOMEONE LIKE YOU MASTERLIST
Summary: this is the story of Dean, Sam and Y/N. As they grew, a friendship as children would bloom into something that would last a lifetime. But, its Dean who realized things can get confusing when you’re in love with your best friend.
September 1996
The drive-in was bustling with teens on that Friday night. In the middle of ‘nowhere Vermont’, as Dean called it, the lot was practically the only thing to do in town. The Winchesters and the Y/L/N’s had been staying together while on a long case. It was the first time that Sam, Dean, and Y/N were briefly attending the same school.
Y/N fit in so effortlessly with everyone and was on a date with one of the most popular seniors at school, Alex Swindel. Alex, Y/N, and other students were laughing, leaning against their cars sharing fries and shakes. For the first time, Y/N finally knew what it felt like to be a normal teenage girl.
Irritated, Dean leaned against a pole by the concession stands, his arms folded across his chest and his jaw clenched. He was trying to control himself, but he was boiling with a kind of jealousy he’d never known before. While Dean knew Alex was a good guy, all merit he may have had flew out the window the second he honed in on Y/N.
Sam made his way over to his big brother as he took a large bite of his hotdog. Once standing at Dean’s side, he followed his eye line so they were both watching Y/N. Alex put his arm around her shoulders and Dean felt his fist clench.
Sam shook his head with a full mouth. “Don’t do it, Dean,” he warned.
“Do what?” he asked with an annoyed tone.
“What you’re thinking about doing.”
“You don’t know what I’m thinking, dork.”
Once Sam swallowed, he took a sip of his soda. “You’re thinking you wanna go over there and punch that ‘stupid’ smile off Alex Swindel.”
“Does he have to stand so close to her?”
“Here we go…”
Ignoring Sam’s commentary, Dean’s ramblings went on. “I mean, what does she even see in that guy?”
“Let’s see...he’s popular, good looking, Homecoming King, and he’s actually really nice.” Feigning a thought of shock, Sam asked, “I mean, what kind of girl would be interested in that?”
“Whatever. He’s not her type.”
“Dean,” Sam started as he looked up at his brother. “You’re only saying that because you wanna be her type.” When Dean didn’t answer, Sam took another swig of his drink. “Maybe if you actually told her how you feel…”
“Look, Sam...no offense, but you don’t know jack about this stuff, alright?”
Mumbling under his breath, Sam sighed. “I know more than you do, apparently.”
Y/N jogged over toward the Winchesters with a smile on her face. “Hey, guys! You wanna come hang out with us?”
Sam smirked with his straw in his mouth as he peered back up to Dean waiting for his response.
“Nah…” Dean told her. “Don’t wanna leave Sammy alone.”
“What are you talking about?” Y/N chuckled. “You both can come. We’ll all watch the movie in the back of Alex’s truck.”
Trying not to roll his eyes, Dean bit his lip. “I think we’ll watch the movie from here.”
Y/N glanced at Sam who shrugged. “Alright…well, I guess we’ll meet up after.”
“Mm-hmm.” Dean forced a closed smile, trying his best not to lose his cool. As she ran back to Alex, Dean scoffed. “I wouldn’t get in that douchebag’s truck if you paid me.”
“Can I have money for another soda?” Sam asked. “I have a feeling this is gonna be a long night.”
Without taking his eyes of Y/N, Dean dug into his pocket and gave his little brother what cash he had left.
Some of the kids dispersed to get ready for the movie leaving Y/N and Alex to have a moment alone. She leaned into the car as he stood inches away staring into her eyes. The two were flirting and laughing together but, it was when Alex tucked the hair behind her ear that Dean couldn’t take another second. It was clear that Alex was waiting for the right moment to make a move.
When Sam finished his order and turned back around, he saw Dean stomping off toward the couple. The young Winchester shook his head. “This is not gonna end well.”
Both Y/N and Alex stopped and waited as Dean grew closer. Running a hand through her hair, Y/N smiled. “Alex...this is Dean.”
Alex grinned. “Hey, man. Y/N’s told me so much about you. I was wondering when I’d meet the ‘famous Dean’.”
“Yeah,” Dean muttered. “Well, now you have.” He turned to Y/N and motioned with his head toward the Impala parked across the way. “We’re headed out.”
Taken back, Y/N answered, “oh, okay. Well, uh--I guess I can get a ride back with Alex.” She peered back up at her date. “If that’s okay…?”
“Of course,” Alex beamed. “I’ll take you back after the movie.”
Dean shook his head firmly, “Nah, I’ll take her back.”
“Dean...I wanna stay for the movie. It’s not a big deal. Alex said he’ll take me home,” she explained.
“Yeah, well, Alex needs to stay in his lane.”
Scrunching his face in confusion and feeling called out, Alex straightened up and faced the Winchester. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Dean took a step closer toward his new rival and glared back. “It means she’s coming home with me.”
“I think she can make that decision for herself.”
“I think you’re asking for me to kick your ass.”
The two teens were suddenly face to face ready to brawl until Y/N stepped between them. “Dean! Stop it!” she told him sternly. Y/N was shocked and embarrassed by his behavior; angry that he was ruining her night. “You’re being ridiculous. Go home!”
“Fine.” As he shot Alex one final threatening look, Dean turned to leave.
“I’m so sorry…”
Alex put his arm back around Y/N. “Hey, it’s alright. The guy’s just crazy jealous.” He chuckled softly and the sound of his laugh broke whatever was left of Dean’s composure.
He spun back around and closed the gap between him and Alex before punching him square in the face. The entire crowd around gasped in shock waiting for the fight to ensue. Alex stumbled back, grabbing his jaw.
“And there it is…” Sam told himself shaking his head as he sucked at an almost empty drink.
“Dean!” Y/N yelled. “What the hell?”
Not being one to be pushed around, Alex scrunched his face in rage before charging at the young hunter. The two were throwing punches while everyone around watched.
Seeing things escalate, Sam quickly tossed his trash away before running toward the fray. “Oh, crap.”
“Stop it! Both of you! Stop it!” Having had enough, Y/N grabbed Dean by the jacket and yanked him away. She glared at him with fury and her face twitched. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
Breathing heavily, Alex wiped the blood from his lip. “This guy your boyfriend or something?”
“No,” she retorted sternly still staring down the hunter. “No, he’s not.” Breaking eye contact with Dean, Y/N turned around to help her date. “Alex, are you okay? I’m so sorry.”
Alex put out a hand to put distance between them. “I think you should go.”
“Alex, please…”
He saw the fresh blood on his hand and shook his head. “Just--go...please.”
Y/N felt a lump in her throat growing as she looked around to see the crowd surrounding them. She was humiliated as they murmured and whispered amongst themselves, staring at her. Before she could start to cry, she quickly walked into the crowd, pushing her way through.
Finally no longer seeing red, Dean calmed down. Realizing what he had just done and he sighed in exasperation with himself. “Fuck…” He then ran after Y/N and called out, “Y/N/N...Y/N!”
Spinning on her heel, her tears falling freely, she stared at him. “What is wrong with you? How could you do that to me?”
“Y/N...I--fuck…” Dean’s words trailed off as he ran a palm down his face. “I’m sorry. I don’t know why…”
“I do!” Her lip quivered with anger and heartbreak. “You were jealous! You think that I’m yours and no one else’s, that I can’t be with anyone other than you. Well, guess what, Dean? I’m not gonna just sit and wait for you to do something about it. You wanna just be friends? Fine. But, you don’t get to ruin the rest of my life because of it.” Y/N’s voice broke and she wiped her face. “For one night, I just wanted to be normal--just one night.”
Not knowing what to say, Dean bounced an anxious leg. “I’m sorry…”
“Yeah, well...you should be.” Sniffling back the rest of her tears, Y/N crossed her arms and began to walk away.
“Wait, Y/N! The car’s that way!”
“I’m gonna walk!” she called out over her shoulder.
As the crowd dispersed and the movie started, Dean stood where she had left him. His shame tore through him as he thought about how much he had hurt her. Almost getting choked up, Dean watched her disappear into the night as Sam came up to his side. “I screwed up, Sammy…”
Sam sighed and his mouth scrunched together not knowing what to say. He just pat Dean on the back and stood with him in silence, knowing that was all he could do for his brother. “It’s alright, Dean. She’ll be back.”

Harry, Uma and I sat around the giant black cauldron in front of us. Uma had known very little about the room where her mother would fantasize about using her magic, but she knew enough to know where it was. “Wait, so how are we going to use Neverland magic if evil magic doesn’t work here?” Harry sat up straight and leaned forward to peak inside the cauldron, seeing nothing but a dark and seemingly bottomless abyss.
“That’s the point of the plan, Hooky. When Uma and I drink this potion, we’ll be able to use our magic again. We just need to wait until Mal comes back to the Isle. When she does, her beastly beau will follow suit, hoping to bring her back to the pretty pink clutches of Auradon. Mal’s little friends will probably somehow find out and go to the Isle with him to protect their King. At a moment where Ben isn’t the priority, we shackle him up and keep him tied in the Chip Shoppe. While he’s tied up, I’ll find a way to make him angry so he’ll show his primal instincts. Once that happens, just a few hairs from his head and we’ll be all set for revenge.” It was something I had theorized to Uma when I first came to the Isle. The magic that allows Ben to change from man to beast comes from his father. Ben’s father was the creator of the Isle and likely the reason that it’s an island with no magic, considering Belle has never had any magic capability. So, if we were to fight the fire with the match that sparked it, maybe the flame would dim down long enough for Uma and I to work our magic.
“How are you so sure that Mal will come back to the Isle to start all of this?” Uma kept a somewhat indifferent expression. I laid my hand down on her thigh and let my thumb roam around it rhythmically.
“You and I both know that Mal isn’t loving the princess act, my Captain. She’s bound to come back and try to reclaim her old territory eventually.”
“You haven’t even met her, duckling, how can you be so sure?” Harry leaned closer to me, resting his hook on the back of my neck. The sudden cold feeling from the metal raised goosebumps on my skin. I looked over to Uma, raising an eyebrow to ask permission. She gave a small nod, a teasing smirk spreading across her face.
I turned towards Harry and swiftly positioned myself on top of his right thigh. “You see, Hooky. I’ve got a good read on people. When you’re able to see into other people’s minds for as long as I was able to, it’s a lot easier to know things about people, even when they don’t tell you.”
Uma smiled and stood up before walking over to Harry and I. She sat herself on Harry’s other thigh and looked to me in amusement. “Really? Prove it, then, island girl.” My eyes shifted over to him, noticing his tongue subtly lingering across his bottom lip.
“Only if he wants me to,” A teasing chuckle came out in response. He leaned up from where he was sitting, moving his hands toward my top. I rolled my eyes and used a hand to push him back so he was leaning against the chair, practically laying down. “Nice to know you’re excited, but I can’t understand you if you don’t use your words.” He smirked and perked his chin up in a nod.
“Why don’t you make me, huh, duckling?” I shrugged and ran my fingers through his hair before finding a small lock and giving a quick tug. Harry quietly yelped in pleasure and looked over to Uma, looking her up and down. When I took a quick glance at my Captain, her expression seemed indifferent, but I knew she couldn’t look away.
“Okay..please, Sofi, prove it to us. Prove it to me.” I nodded my head and leaned down onto him, beginning to leave small kisses on his neck. Since I still had part of his hair in my hand, I had more access to his neck and collarbone. I put my hand under his shirt and began trailing my hand across his chest.
“Well, to start, you’re not as dominant as people think you are. I mean, maybe you have your days where you’d rather thrust into one of us until we’re a quivering mess but more often than not, you secretly love it when we take our time. It’s interesting not being the tease for a change, isn’t it?” Uma quietly giggled behind me. She knew I was right. “Second, you realized you had feelings for Uma when you were jacking off in the shower one night and realized that what finished you off was the thought of her riding you. It’d start off with her gently moving naked across your thigh, pulling you close and leaving marks that would stay for weeks, then, eventually, she’d practically rip off your clothes and take all of you in her mouth…” I slowly took Harry’s jacket off of him and slipped my overshirt off afterward. Thinking he would let me take him further, he pulled me closer to him and wrapped his fingers around a lock of my hair.
“God..please continue…”
“Why should I? I’ve proven myself, haven’t I?” I leaned my head closer to his, our foreheads touching and our lips inches away.
“You’re not ready for what will happen if you don’t.” He lowered his voice to a husky whisper. “I’ll ravage you right here on this chair. Tear you until you’re spent and yet you’ll still be begging for more.” I smirked and swiftly pulled his lips to mine. His lips were soft but his movements were rough and primal. I’d felt some needy men in the past, but none had been so shameless, raging like a heavenly sunshower. In the heat and excitement, I can hear a quick and deep “do it,” slip from Harry’s lips. Before I could question anything, I felt the cold metallic sensation of Harry’s hook slip across the back of my neck. After a quick gasp, I look behind me to see Uma with her hat, jacket, and belt discarded. “Do you really think I’d let you unravel him without a little help? Tell me, when was the last time you experienced two people at once?” As quick as a light switch, I was rendered nearly speechless. I never knew how she did it to me, but there was always something about her that put me in some sort of spell. Now I understood why Harry always said Uma’s name like a prayer. In the right mood, Uma carried herself like a god. I turned back to look at her. With her jacket gone, the dress she was wearing under had become much more form fitting. “Well look who’s not using their words, now?” Harry chuckled from behind and leaned up, starting to kiss my neck just as I had done to him before.
“Settle down, Harry. Don’t think because we’ve found a weakness in our girl that it means you can go Alpha. We all know who’s in charge here, don’t we?” I nodded my head. She walked over to me and gently lifted my chin. Between Harry’s nails leaving scratches down my back and Uma’s lips gently dancing with me, I felt like I had an angel in front of me and a devil behind me. Uma’s kiss was of a warm fire after a day in the snow. Her hands roamed toward the strap of my shirt and moved it downward. “Get off of him for a moment. I’ve got a better idea.” I quickly obeyed, shifting off of Harry’s thigh and returning to where I sat before this escapade had begun. I could feel small hitches in my breath and warmth forming around me. Harry prowled over to my side, beginning to leave deep and rough kisses on my neck and shoulders. I already knew that this would bruise, but I couldn’t care less. Uma stood tall in front of me and let her dress fall to the floor. Her breasts were perky and seemed as soft as the rest of her supple skin.
“Maybe you have done your homework on us, duckling. But guess what? So have we.” Feeling Harry’s voice on my skin sent shivers down my spine. Uma sat on top of my lap and flittered her fingers around the strap to my top. I raised my arms over my head and threw my top to the floor as I took it off. She slowly began kissing down my chest and towards one breast as Harry licked and nibbled at the other. I could feel myself starting to rub my thighs together, trying to gain some friction. Uma quietly chuckles and slowly moves her hand down towards my pants, then slowly pressing two fingers against my clothed heat. I let out a soft huff of breath, eager for more. Uma momentarily stopped and looked to Harry.
“Let’s speed this up, who knows when ma might come through here.” He growled excitedly in response. In the blink of an eye, all of us were completely undressed. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, what I was feeling, what I had the privilege to be a part of. I had seen Harry shirtless a few times. We’d be training together and, in the heat of the moment, he’d practically rip it off and attempt to use his muscles and wile to throw me off. Mentally, it’d definitely make my thoughts wander, but not as much as it did now. To go with his tense and chiseled arms and chest, Harry had a distinct “v line” that lead down to his cock. It was relatively average in length and surprisingly well groomed. What would end up blowing my mind was his girth and a curve towards the head. Uma, however, was practically a whole new world. Despite the muscle in her attitude, Uma was more on the slender and petite side. There was a small curve cascading down her body that wasn’t much of an hourglass, but still seemed to hit all of the right places. Her hips swayed like the waves of the ocean, and I was the sand she’d weaken with her tide.
I wish I could recount all of the little details of what had happened, and usually I would be able to. The main thing I remembered was the contrast in style from the two of them. Harry was a tease, pacing himself achingly while staying attentive to the both of us. Even when I wasn’t the priority, he still found some way to lift me higher. His fingers and tongue were godlike, nearly omniscient of how to keep the Captain and I begging for more. He was quite the devil indeed. If Harry were a devil, Uma was his succubus. She’d lure you in, thinking of being gentle, making you believe that there was a chance of getting her to beg. But that was quite the contrary. While Harry had times were he would be fast and brutal, Uma was torturously slow with the both of us. She’d throw in tiny praises, letting the both of us know how well we were doing, but soon after she’d make these tiny little threats and hints of denial. “If you even try to come before I’m done with you, I’ll make you pay,” “Tell me who you belong to, or I’ll stop right now.” She was the last of the three of us to reach her peak, Harry locking his lips with hers while I tasted her for the first time.
By the time all three of us were done and cleaned up, Harry had passed out with his head on Uma’s lap. I laid gently onto her shoulder and ran my hands gently through Harry’s dark locks. There was something mesmerizing about seeing someone who was usually so chaotic look so at peace. “Does he always fall asleep so quickly?” I joked to Uma, keeping my eyes locked on the sleeping beauty below me.
“Always...what about you? You aren’t tired from all of that?”
“No, I am, trust me. I just don’t sleep very much. In Neverland, you never knew when a Lost Boy was going to break into your tent to cause a ruckus or when some animal would try to ravage your camp like a fat kid at a buffet.” Uma smiled and laid a soft kiss on the top of my head. Maybe I didn’t know whether or not this plan would work, but as long as I had these two by my side, I’ll cherish every second of it.

twitter likes should we know?
Twitter's origins lie in a "daylong brainstorming session" held by board members of the podcasting company Odeo. Jack Dorsey, then an undergraduate student at New York University, introduced the idea of an individual using an SMS service to communicate with a small group.[25][26] The original project code name for the service was twttr, an idea that Williams later ascribed to Noah Glass,[27] inspired by Flickr and the five-character length of American SMS short codes. The decision was also partly due to the fact that the domain twitter.com was already in use, and it was six months after the launch of twttr that the crew purchased the domain and changed the name of the service to Twitter.[28] The developers initially considered "10958" as a short code, but later changed it to "40404" for "ease of use and memorability".[29] Work on the project started on March 21, 2006, when Dorsey published the first Twitter message at 9:50 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST): "just setting up my twttr".[4] Dorsey has explained the origin of the "Twitter" title:
s Angeles Lakers' victory in the 2010 NBA Finals on June 17,[48] and then again at the close of Japan's victory over Denmark in the World Cup when users published 3,283 tweets per second.[49] The record was set again during the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup Final between Japan and the United States, when 7,196 tweets per second were published.[50] When American singer Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, Twitter servers crashed after users were updating their status to include the words "Michael Jackson" at a rate of 100,000 tweets per hour.[51] The current record as of August 3, 2013 was set in Japan, with 143,199 tweets per second during a television screening of the movie Castle in the Sky[52] (beating the previous record of 33,388, also set by Japan for the television screening of the same movie).[53]
Twitter acquired application developer Atebits on April 11, 2010. Atebits had developed the Apple Design Award-winning Twitter client Tweetie for the Mac and iPhone. The application, now called "Twitter" and distributed free of charge, is the official Twitter client for the iPhone, iPad and Mac.[54]
From September through October 2010, the company began rolling out "New Twitter", an entirely revamped edition of twitter.com. Changes included the ability to see pictures and videos without leaving Twitter itself by clicking on individual tweets which contain links to images and clips from a variety of supported websites including YouTube and Flickr, and a complete overhaul of the interface, which shifted links such as '@mentions' and 'Retweets' above the Twitter stream, while 'Messages' and 'Log Out' became accessible via a black bar at the very top of twitter.com. As of November 1, 2010, the company confirmed that the "New Twitter experience" had been rolled out to all users. In 2019, Twitter was announced to be the 10th most downloaded mobile app of the decade, from 2010 to 2019.[55]
2011–2014 On April 5, 2011, Twitter tested a new homepage and phased out the "Old Twitter".[56] However, a glitch came about after the page was launched, so the previous "retro" homepage was still in use until the issues were resolved; the new homepage was reintroduced on April 20.[57][58] On December 8, 2011, Twitter overhauled its website once more to feature the "Fly" design, which the service says is easier for new users to follow and promotes advertising. In addition to the Home tab, the Connect and Discover tabs were introduced along with a redesigned profile and timeline of Tweets. The site's layout has been compared to that of Facebook.[59][60] On February 21, 2012, it was announced that Twitter and Yandex agreed to a partnership. Yandex, a Russian search engine, finds value within the partnership due to Twitter's real time news feeds. Twitter's director of business development explained that it is important to have Twitter content where Twitter users go.[61] On March 21, 2012, Twitter celebrated its sixth birthday while also announcing that it had 140 million users and 340 million tweets per day. The number of users was up 40% from their September 2011 number, which was said to have been at 100 million at the time.[62]
In April 2012, Twitter announced that it was opening an office in Detroit, with the aim of working with automotive brands and advertising agencies.[63] Twitter also expanded its office in Dublin.[64] On June 5, 2012, a modified logo was unveiled through the company blog, removing the text to showcase the slightly redesigned bird as the sole symbol of Twitter.[65][66] On October 5, 2012, Twitter acquired a video clip company called Vine that launched in January 2013.[67][68] Twitter released Vine as a standalone app that allows users to create and share six-second looping video clips on January 24, 2013. Vine videos shared on Twitter are visible directly in users' Twitter feeds.[69] Due to an influx of inappropriate content, it is now rated 17+ in Apple's[needs update][70] app store.[71] On December 18, 2012, Twitter announced it had surpassed 200 million monthly active users. Twitter hit 100 million monthly active users in September 2011.[72]
On January 28, 2013, Twitter acquired Crashlytics in order to build out its mobile developer products.[73]
On April 18, 2013, Twitter launched a music app called Twitter Music for the iPhone.[74] On August 28, 2013, Twitter acquired Trendrr,[75] followed by the acquisition of MoPub on September 9, 2013.[76] As of September 2013, the company's data showed that 200 million users sent over 400 million tweets daily, with nearly 60% of tweets sent from mobile devices.[77] On June 4, 2014, Twitter announced that it would acquire Namo Media, a technology firm specializing in "native advertising" for mobile devices.[78] On June 19, 2014, Twitter announced that it had reached an undisclosed deal to buy SnappyTV, a service that helps edit and share video from television broadcasts.[79][80] The company was helping broadcasters and rights holders to share video content bo
...we came across the word 'twitter', and it was just perfect. The definition was 'a short burst of inconsequential information,' and 'chirps from birds'. And that's exactly what the product was.[30]
The first Twitter prototype, developed by Dorsey and contractor Florian Weber, was used as an internal service for Odeo employees.[31] The full version was introduced publicly on July 15, 2006.[13] In October 2006, Biz Stone, Evan Williams, Dorsey, and other members of Odeo formed Obvious Corporation and acquired Odeo, together with its assets — including Odeo.com and Twitter.com — from the investors and shareholders.[32] Williams fired Glass, who was silent about his part in Twitter's startup until 2011.[33] Twitter spun off into its own company in April 2007.[34] Williams provided insight into the ambiguity that defined this early period in a 2013 interview:
With Twitter, it wasn't clear what it was. They called it a social network, they called it microblogging, but it was hard to define, because it didn't replace anything. There was this path of discovery with something like that, where over time you figure out what it is. Twitter actually changed from what we thought it was in the beginning, which we described as status updates and a social utility. It is that, in part, but the insight we eventually came to was Twitter was really more of an information network than it is a social network.[35]
The tipping point for Twitter's popularity was the 2007 South by Southwest Interactive (SXSWi) conference. During the event, Twitter usage increased from 20,000 tweets per day to 60,000.[36][37] "The Twitter people cleverly placed two 60-inch plasma screens in the conference hallways, exclusively streaming Twitter messages," remarked Newsweek's Steven Levy. "Hundreds of conference-goers kept tabs on each other via constant twitters. Panelists and speakers mentioned the service, and the bloggers in attendance touted it."[38] Reaction at the conference was highly positive. Blogger Scott Beale said that Twitter was "absolutely ruling" SXSWi. Social software researcher danah boyd said Twitter was "owning" the conference.[39] Twitter staff received the festival's Web Award prize with the remark "we'd like to thank you in 140 characters or less. And we just did!"[40]
The first unassisted off-Earth Twitter message was posted from the International Space Station by NASA astronaut T. J. ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 Review: Green With Envy
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 is a powerful business prosumer laptop that, for about $2,100, also gives you 4K and the legendary ThinkPad keyboard. But what initially looks like a low markup on this computer starts to become a bit steeper when stacked up against other 10th Gen Intel-based competition, especially the HP Envy 15.
This ThinkPad’s still cheaper than certain other premium contenders like the Surface Book 3, but does it have similarly unique features to justify that price?
Design of the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 maintains the ThinkPad style with an all-business look that nonetheless is thin and sleek enough to be appropriate for the home or on the go. A carbon fiber weave pattern (optional on 4K models) adorns the lid, while one of the corners plays home to an oversized glossy black and red ThinkPad X1 logo. In a nice touch, the red dot on the ThinkPad logo’s “i” also fades in and out when the laptop is in sleep mode.
The inside of the laptop keeps the same general motif, with a ThinkPad logo in the bottom-right corner and an otherwise no-nonsense look. The red TrackPoint that the brand associates itself with is of course at the keyboard’s center, but otherwise the most distinguishing design feature here is the hinge, which can bend far enough so that the screen is parallel to the keyboard.
The port selection here is also generous, keeping in line with the laptop’s utility-forward aesthetic. The left side is where you’ll find the charging port, as well as two Thunderbolt 3 ports, an HDMI 2.0 connection and a 3.5 mm combination headphone/microphone jack. The right side is where you’ll want to put your older accessories since it has the laptop’s 2 USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 connections. It also has a full-size SD card reader and a Kensington lock slot.
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 is able to accommodate so many ports, partially because of its size. At 14.3 x 9.6 x 0.7 inches, it’s wider than most similarly sized laptops and not exactly thin. It does keep pace with other business prosumer laptops like the HP Envy 15, which is 14.1 x 9.3 x 0.7 inches large, but still finds itself beat by entries like the 13.6 x 9.1 x 0.7 inch Dell XPS 15 9500. Still, there are thicker laptops that have hit this category recently, like the 13.5 x 9.9 x 0.9 inch Microsoft Surface Book 3, though that does detach into a separate tablet.
Where this iteration of the ThinkPad X1 does excel is weight. At 4 pounds, it’s easily lighter than the 4.2-pound Surface Book 3, the 4.5-pound XPS 15 and the 4.7-pound Envy 15.
Productivity Performance on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 has a Core i7-10850H Comet Lake processor as opposed to a more recent (and mobile-focused) Tiger Lake CPU. That’s understandable, since Tiger Lake doesn’t have an H series processor yet. But Comet Lake has been out long enough that competitors have had plenty of time to put out similarly powerful machines, so this ThinkPad is entering into a busy space.
Take the XPS 15 9500, which had an Intel Core i7-10750H when we reviewed it and options up to an i7-10875H. This laptop came out back in May, but is still plenty relevant. That’s also the case for the Microsoft Surface Book 3, which has plenty of convertibility options and uses an Intel Core i7-1065G7. The HP Envy 15, meanwhile, came out in August and has an Intel Core i7-10750H, but is much less expensive than the ThinkPad.
So how does the ThinkPad fit into the already well-developed 10th gen space? In our Geekbench benchmark, which tests general laptop performance, it scored 6,116 points, which is much higher than the Surface Book 3’s 3,831 points and just below the XPS 15 9500’s 6,174 points. It’s also still within spitting distance of the winner for this test; the Envy 15 scored 6,421 points.
The ThinkPad’s true performance starts to shine when you look at its file transfer and video editing speeds. The ThinkPad transferred 4.97 GB of files at a rate 1,615.7 MBps during our testing, which was almost double the speed of its nearest competitor. The closest is the Surface Book 3, which hit transfer speeds of 848.2 MBps, while the XPS 15 was stuck with a rate of 727 MBps and the Envy 15 with a rate of 650.6 MBps.
In video transcoding, the ThinkPad was also the fastest. It took 9:19 to transcode a 4K video to FHD using Handbrake, while the XPS 15 took 10:06 and the Envy 15 took 13:35. The Surface Book 3 lagged well behind, with a speed of 21:31.
We also put the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 through our typical Cinebench R20 stress test, which involves running the program on a loop 20 times. Here, the testing started out promising with an initial score of 1,630.5 before falling into more reasonable scores that were around the low 1,500s for the rest of the runs. This isn’t unusual, and the testing ended with an average score of 1,521.8. During these tests, the average CPU clock speed was 2.2 Ghz and the average CPU temperature was 62.3 degrees Celsius (144.1 degrees Fahrenheit).
Graphics Performance on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 also packs an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q, which is enough power to let it moonlight in gaming if not dedicate itself to play. It’s also about on par with what we see from most of its competitors, with the XPS 15 sharing its GPU and the Surface Book 3 making a slight upgrade to a 1660 Ti Max-Q. The Envy 15’s RTX 2060 Max-Q does give it a slight edge, however.
At 1920 x 1080 on high settings, the ThinkPad outperformed all competitors in the Civilization VI benchmark with a score of 82 fps. The closest rival was the Envy 15 with 70 fps, followed by the Surface Book 3 with 63 fps and the XPS 15 with 48 fps. This might be due to the ThinkPad’s slightly more powerful CPU compared to its competitors.
The more graphically intensive Shadow of the Tomb Raider showed closer results in its benchmark at 1920 x 1080 and high settings, with the Envy 15 and Surface Book 3 still taking top scores but with a narrower margin. These laptops hit 49 fps and 42 fps respectively, while the ThinkPad came behind with 32 fps and the XPS 15 was once again arguably unplayable thanks to its 29 fps score.
I also personally played Overwatch on the ThinkPad for about a half-hour. Even on 4K and with the game’s highest “Epic” settings, my framerate maintained a solid 75 - 80 fps. The keyboard did become warm about halfway into the session, but not uncomfortably so.
Display on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 has a 15.6 inch 4K multi-touch IPS display that’s plenty colorful but can run dimmer than competitors and can also suffer from poor viewing angles due to how glossy it is.
I tested the screen by watching the open source 4K film Tears of Steel on it, where I found that the image tended to become hard to follow at viewing angles beyond about 75 degrees. This was less because of the screen washing out and more due to the display’s reflective surface distracting me from the action. When viewing the picture straight-on, colors were vivid but blacks lacked depth, maybe because the screen didn’t become bright enough to help make the picture pop.
Our testing showed that the ThinkPad does indeed have a slightly darker screen than competitors, coming in with an average brightness of 338 nits. That’s plenty bright for most users, but falls short compared to other 4K prosumer laptops like the XPS 15 9500 (434 nits) and the Surface Book 3 (402 nits). Instead, it’s closer to the HP Envy 15 (329 nits).
As for color testing, the ThinkPad was in the middle of the pack, covering 96.1% of the DCI-P3 spectrum. That puts it about on par with the XPS (93.7%) and above the Surface Book 3 (71.2%), but below the Envy 15 (142%), which we tested with an OLED screen.
Keyboard and Touchpad on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
Keyboards tend to be a big draw for the ThinkPad brand, thanks to what usually feels like plenty of travel distance and comfortable concave keycaps that make typing easy on the fingers, and the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 is no exception here. On the 10fastfingers.com typing test, I tended to fall between 76 - 81 words per minute, which is on par with what I tend to earn on mechanical keyboards, and I barely made any typos as well. Keypresses felt distinct yet cushiony during my tests, and touch typing was easy as the distinct shape of the keycaps helped me keep track of my hand placement without having to look at the keyboard.
The precision trackpad had a little too much friction for my personal taste, but this tended to affect my comfort more than my input. Multi-touch gestures registered well, as did precise cursor movement. Friction became more of an issue with the touchscreen, where my fingers tended to stick to the surface rather than glide across it. Still, multi-touch worked without problems here as well.
As is standard for ThinkPads, the X1 Extreme Gen 3 also has the typical TrackPoint nub in the center of the keyboard. I tend to avoid this feature, as I didn’t grow up with the input method, but it responds to pressure well and can be used to make both precise mouse adjustments and sweeping mouse movements without needing to take your fingers off the keyboard.
Audio on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 has bottom-firing speakers on either side that, in my testing, seemed to prioritize volume and treble over bass quality. I used the speakers to listen to Blackpink’s Lovesick Girls, which easily filled my whole 2-bedroom apartment when I put the speakers to max and even when I closed doors. Even at this high volume, the vocals never became tinny, nor did the song’s high notes.
That said, the song usually has a prevalent bass track that’s meant to mimic a heartbeat that was almost completely omitted by the ThinkPad’s speakers. It also has a few small drum sections that do sound tinny over the ThinkPad’s speakers, showing that the laptop’s ability with high notes doesn’t necessarily carry over to lower frequencies.
Upgradeability on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 is about as friendly as a laptop can get when it comes to upgradeability. Simply loosen the 7 Phillips head screws on the bottom and then pry open the case with a tool like a spudger. Once inside, you’ll have access to the SSD and, since the RAM isn’t soldered in, you’ll also be able to access that. Plus, there’s a second SSD slot if you want to add in additional storage.
Battery Life on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
The ThinkPad x1 Extreme Gen 3’s battery is poor even for a system with discrete graphics and a 4K display, so you’ll probably want to leave it plugged in when you’re doing anything that isn’t moving it from place to place. In our battery benchmark, which consistently browses the web, streams video and runs OpenGL tests at 150 nits of brightness, the ThinkPad only ran for 2 hours and 19 minutes.
That’s well below the 5:30 battery life for the Envy 15, which is another computer we said “you’ll want to keep near a charger.” Meanwhile, the 8:01 battery life of the XPS 15 9500 and the 11:10 battery life of the Microsoft Surface Book 3 make the ThinkPad’s numbers look pretty sad.
Heat on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 isn’t an ice-cold machine, but its temperature under strain is within expectations. We measured heat for the ThinkPad after 15 minutes of streaming video on YouTube, and found that its coolest point was the touchpad, with a more than comfortable 81.5 degrees Fahrenheit (27.5 degrees Celsius). The keyboard was much toastier at 97 degrees Fahrenheit (36.1 degrees Celsius), while most of the underside not far behind at 96.5 degrees (35.8 degrees Celsius).
The hottest point on the laptop was 103 degrees Fahrenheit (39.4 degrees Celsius) and was located on the underside, just above the laptop’s vents.
Webcam on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
ThinkPads are business notebooks, so you need a decent camera for the many video calls we're making these days. While the webcam is 720p, its color accuracy is true-to-life and there’s very little grain. The camera performs well in both normal and low light conditions. It’s not going to outpace your iPhone, but you won’t have to worry about looking washed out when video chatting with your coworkers.
It includes a physical webcam cover for those who are privacy-conscious. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 webcam also comes equipped with an IR sensor for use with Windows Hello.
Software and Warranty on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
One of the key strengths to Lenovo’s computers is that they tend not to pack bloat, and while they do come with utility programs, most of them end up consolidated into one app. That’s the case with the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3, which doesn’t feature any marketing material or niche pack-ins aside from Windows' usual offenders. It does, however, have a small but not overwhelming number of genuinely helpful programs.
You can find most of the ThinkPad’s utilities in the Lenovo Vantage program, which has features for running diagnostics, checking Wi-Fi network security, disabling the microphone and webcam, identifying serial numbers and more. Lenovo Pen Settings is where you’ll end up configuring any Lenovo pens you might buy - the laptop doesn’t come with one - while Lenovo Display Optimizer lets you change between picture modes optimized for movies, photos and mitigating blue light to help you sleep. The most egregious program here is probably “Glance by MiraMetrix,” which uses eye tracking to move the mouse cursor and even windows progRAMS.
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 also has a one-year limited warranty.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 Configurations
Our ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 review unit came with an Intel Core i7-10850H processor, a GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q, 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB SSD all for $2,129.
If you want to add on just a touch more performance, you can also swap to an i9-10885H processor for what is currently $303 more after applying a sales discount. Other options include the ability to upgrade to 64GB of RAM for a post-discount price of $262, as well as add a second SSD or swap the display to OLED. The former will currently cost you up to $680 while the latter will currently add $107 to your price tag.
Alternately, if you want to save money, you can also swap the screen for an FHD display, lower your included RAM down to 8GB, drop your storage down to 256GB, and swap out the i7 CPU for an i5-10400H vPro processor. Making all these sacrifices will bring your costs down to $1,498.75 after the current sale discount, though at that point, you might as well go for Lenovo’s almost identical uncustomizable model that costs $1,405 and has an i7-10750H processor.
Bottom Line on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 performs well when compared to its competition, but falls prey to a premium markup when you look at its features. It keeps up with computers like the XPS 15 and the Envy 15 on Geekbench, exceeds them on file transfer speeds and video editing and, depending on the program, can even beat the Envy 15 in some graphical performance tests despite having a weaker card. But the audio is OK at best, and the display isn't as impressive as the competition, which leaves using it feeling like a standard experience that you end up paying more for.
The XPS 15 9500, by comparison, is now selling for $2,508 if you choose similar specs to the ThinkPad configuration we reviewed. That’s a touch more expensive, but it will also upgrade you to the slightly more powerful i7-10875H processor. The Microsoft Surface Book 3, meanwhile, is $2,999 when decked out with similar specs to the ThinkPad config we reviewed. Both of these are more expensive than the ThinkPad, especially the Surface Book, but also have their own unique benefits. In the former’s case, we get a slightly more powerful CPU, while the latter comes with multiple levels of convertibility.
Which brings us to the HP Envy 15. The XPS and Surface Book aren’t clear winners over the ThinkPad, but the Envy 15 has an almost identical and sometimes stronger average use case experience for much less. This i7-10750H and RTX 2060 Max-Q equipped laptop does have 16GB less RAM and 512GB less storage than the ThinkPad, but it slightly beat the ThinkPad in all of our performance tests except file transfer speed, video transcoding and the FHD Civilization VI benchmark. Its AMOLED screen is also about as bright as the ThinkPad’s while being more colorful, and at just $1,499, it’s got a pretty hefty discount over the ThinkPad despite offering a similar and sometimes better experience.
This leaves the ThinkPad in a bizarre space where it at once feels premium but sometimes loses to supposedly lesser machines. And that's completely ignoring the ThinkPad's downright poor battery life. At first, laptops like the XPS 15 and Surface Book 3 leave it seeming like a good deal, but then contenders like the HP Envy 15 show that you can get a similar experience for much less.
And while the Surface Book 3 and arguably the XPS have unique factors justifying their premium price tags, the ThinkPad’s user experience is far more basic. It’s a good choice if you’re a ThinkPad fan, but if you’re OK trading in some memory and storage space for a better GPU and a far lower price, the HP Envy 15 is a more appealing buy.

NSFW alphabet | JAY
A - aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
aftercare with jinhwan is a bit lazy but he takes it seriously. all he really wants to do is pass out with you snuggled against him, but he can’t do that before checking and double checking that you’re okay
B - body part (their favorite body part of their partners)
jinhwan doesn’t really have a favorite body part. not to sound sappy or anything, but he loves all of you and he’ll make sure that you know it
C - cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
he likes to cum on your face or your chest, if he can help it. there’s just something about seeing you like that, covered in his release, that turns him on so much
D - dirty secret (self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
he’s never brought it up, and he hopes that you never will, but both of you know about that pair of your undies tucked between his mattresses that he likes to bring out when he’s bored and lonely. the lace doesn’t compare to you, but it’s better than just his hand, right?
E - experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
he’s pretty experienced, so he knows what he’s doing and he’s quite good at it
F - favorite position (this goes without saying)
doggy style!! jinhwan is a dominant guy, so any position where he’s in full control is his favorite, but there’s so much he can do with you when you’re on your hands and knees for him like that
G - goofy (are they more serious in the moment, are they humorous, etc)
somewhere in the middle. sex is serious, but he still wants to keep the mood light. he’ll tease you, or smile and tell you how beautiful you are, or even tell you little things to make you laugh
H - hair (how well groomed are they, etc)
he’s not bare, but he does prefer to keep things short. grooming isn’t very high on his list of priorities, especially since he’s not that hairy to begin with, but he never lets it grow past a certain point. 1/3 of the borderline bare boys
I - intimacy (how are they during the moment, romantic aspect)
jinhwan is a very romantic lover, but he isn’t the type to go all out. he can easily show his love by doing little things like covering the bed in rose petals and lighting your favorite scented candle or taking the time to kiss every inch of you
J - jack off (masturbation headcanon)
if he’s horny and he’s got time, he’s going to do something about it. everyone knows when he’s getting himself off, too, because he’s so loud. if he wakes up from a wet dream and you’re next to him, he’ll edge himself until you wake up to help
K - kink (one or more of their kinks)
jinhwan is a mean dom, and he’ll do the most to remind you that he’s the one in charge. denying you orgasms, giving you as many as you can take, orgasm control is one of his favorite kinks and it boosts his confidence knowing that your pleasure all depends on him
L - location (favorite places to do the do)
he loves to fuck you in the living room when no one else is home. afterwards, he’ll whisper in your ear to remind you what the two of you had done right where everyone is sitting now. when he can’t fuck you there, he’ll do it in his room, rest assured everyone knows what you two are doing
M - motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
he’s not the easiest to turn on, the mood has to be right or he won’t be into it. one sure-fire way to get him is by touching him; grasping his thigh, tracing your fingers along his tattoos, or pressing soft kisses to his neck almost always works
N - no (something they wouldn’t do)
jinhwan would never share you, so threesomes or voyeurism is off the table. he doesn’t care if people hear how good he’s fucking you, but he would never take it a step further than that
O - oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
the king of oral, his tongue alone can bring you to the edge within minutes but when he adds his fingers? you’re a shaking mess. he also likes to tease; giving you just little kitten licks, making eye contact while he goes down on you and smacking your shaking thighs. as for receiving, he’ll never turn down getting his dick sucked, and you can count on him holding your head still while he fucks your throat im a mess
P - pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc)
jinhwan will start off with slow, shallow thrusts, but once you start begging him to pick up the pace, he’ll be going so fast and hard that your head is spinning. he isn’t necessarily rough, his thrusts are just very quick and deep
Q - quickie (their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc)
on one hand, jinhwan never wants to pass up an opportunity to bury himself inside of you. on the other hand, he would much rather take time to please both of you right. quickies are rare but they do happen from time to time, especially if one of you is feeling particularly needy
R - risk (are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc)
one of the least experimental members, he likes what he’s doing already, so why change it up? if you suggest something you want to try, he’ll consider it, but he doesn’t bring anything up on his own
S - stamina (how many rounds can they go for, how long do they last)
jinhwan tends to spend a while on foreplay, plus he loves to tease you, but the actual sex lasts for about ten minutes. he’s usually good for two or three rounds so long as he gets a breather in-between
T - toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
toys aren’t really his thing (he’s got a dick and it works just fine) but he does own two; a vibrator and some silk rope. he doesn’t use them often, he prefers when you moan and cry because of his cock, so when you see him with them you know you’re in for a long night
U - unfair (how much they like to tease)
jinhwan loves to tease!! he loves to hear you cry, feel you shake, and he especially loves it when you beg for him to fuck you. nothing boosts his confidence like having you so desperate for him
V - volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make)
as previously stated, he is very loud… a whiner!! if something feels good, you’ll know by the high pitched whining in your ear. afterwards, he gets pretty shy about the noises he made, no matter how sexy cute they were
W - wildcard (random headcanon)
the first time was an accident, but now he can’t get enough of it. jinhwan is 1/3 of the members i can see being into mutual masturbation. when he first walked in, he automatically walked back out and tried to get the image out of his head… except he couldn’t. it was so hot to see you like that. now whenever you’re getting off, it’s only a matter of time before jinhwan walks in with his pants undone
X - xray (let’s see what’s going on in those pants)
may i just say that i HATE this one jinhwan is average. he’s not too small, but he’s not too big either. 5-5.3” when he’s hard, and he’s pretty thick, too
Y - yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
his sex drive isn’t insanely high, but it’s enough for him to want you every single day. that’s not necessarily realistic given his schedule, but 4-5 times a week keeps him happy and satiated
Z - zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
he tries so hard to wait for you before he knocks out, but once you’re back in his arms, jinhwan is OUT. you can try and talk to him afterward, but don’t be surprised when he falls asleep halfway through his sentence
sorry for the sudden inactivity!! i wanted to post this on thursday but didn’t have time to finish before the got7 concert (which was awesome!!) i’m not always on this account, so if you want or need to talk to me about literally anything, my main blog is @ultmino!
