Finally got my first game console and been playing the Witcher 3 non stop (I won’t say that I got the recommendation from Sleepacross)
The thoughts that there’s a chance the Lee family (maybe excluding Dada Lee) or Sayeon’s Godling patron is inspired by Gaunter O’ Dimm is fuckin hyping me up.
#witcher 3#gaunter o'dimm#hand jumper#fav#the kind of male characters that I adore#yes he’s not human#but he looks like a normal human!#thats the cool af part!#W3’s godlings are damn adorable#HJ’s godlings on the other hand…

Gaunter o'Dimm (because I was asked about him and ... well), Rand al'Thor and uuuuuuh Bilbo 😂
Now, that's an interesting set of characters you chose.
Let's start
Gaunter O'Dimm
How I feel about this character: I honestly dislike the character, concept and all. The GoD wordplay was way too obvious, and I felt he didn't really fit the world as a whole.
That being said, he is a wonderful excuse, as there was one God-like being in the world, one can now go and work in other deities, or deity-like beings and no one can say that such things don't exist in canon.
As a person I dislike Gaunter, he's a putz.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Only those I would wish severely punished. Radovid and other monsters can happily have a tumble with Gaunter and then die painfully from his schemes.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: All the Hags from Aretuza.
My unpopular opinion about this character: he's lame. One of the lamest versions of Devil Pact one could write.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. Gaunter being proven a fraud. Just a person playing with peoples fears and having delusions of grandeur.
Rand al'Thor
How I feel about this character: I like his character arc, as the readers we get to witness him growing from that farmboy, to a hero, to a leader, and to a man who transcends reality. He goes on this incredible journey, but a part of him always remains that boy from the two Rivers, even when he retrieves the memories of his former life. While he is not my favourite character in WoT, he is one I always rooted for.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: his canon ships: Min/Elayne/Aviendha, and my secret guilty pleasure is Rand al'Thor/Galad Trakand. And yes, I know that would be inknowing incest, as they share the same mother.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Perrin Aybara and Lan al'Mandragoran.
Lan and Rand share so many things, both had to rise to leadership young, Rand as the dragon reborn and Lan as the King of a destroyed nation, and both never could escape their war with the Dark One. Rand says in the end that Lan taught him how to stand tall, and that's so true.
Perrin is Rand's childhood friend and steadfast support. I could see him even as a romantic option for Rand, though his role as the solid friend on whom Rand could always rely is easily as strong. There is a dichotomy in their arcs, as Rand embraces being the Dragon Reborn (eventually) while Perrin struggles with being a Lord and a Leader for most of the story. he doesn't want people to follow him, but they do, because Perrin is a solid leader and Perrin with the banner of Manetheren is just... yes!!
My unpopular opinion about this character: I think most readers will agree that he is as stubborn as a dozen mules, so that doesn't count. His eternal distrust for anything Aes Sedai is also somewhat annoying, but most fans will agree there too.
My personal gripe with him is the multitude of girls he has. Lady Selene, Elayne, Aviendha, Min... that's such teenager wish-fullfilment, it is annoying.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. Oh there are many, I will leave it with two.
Him and Galad talking after Tarmon Gai'don. Gawyn told Galad that Galad had a half brother, so their encounter would be great. Before Tarmon Gai'don would even be better (if Galad could receive the information) because the Lord Captain Commander of the Children of Light and the Dragon Reborn would be a match made in Chaos.
Rand and Tam finding each other again after Tarmon Gai'don. Tam deserves to know that while Rand's body died on Shayol Ghul, Rand's soul did not. But I console myself that Tam may find peace in protecting Elayne's children, and thus getting to know his grandchildren.
Bilbo Baggins
How I feel about this character: I love Bilbo. The reluctant adventurer, always wishing he could be home again. His movie portrayal I also loved.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: usually none. Bilbo is one of those character who's eternal bacherlorhood is firmly engrained in the story. Though I did enjoy reading some rarepairs, paring Bilbo with Bofur or Dwalin.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: canon: Dwalin. Best friends forever. My AU: Kili - friends to hell and back.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I do not believe Bilbo could just come home and live his quiet life after all that he saw and lived through. Especially with the canon ending where Thorin, Fili and Kili died and Bilbo was bound to feel guilty about it. I cannot see Bilbo coming home and living whole and hearty, with all the nightmares (the "horrors in the halls of stone") he has lived through, including the battle of the five armies.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. I would have loved to see more of Bilbo's own adventures. See him travel, experience more things. He was fairly free in using the ring to hide, so the means to have him survive some crazy shit would have been right there. In my AU I tookl my own spin on this by Bilbo returning to Erebor.

I often find myself thinking about how wild this scene is, character building aside. Gaunter O'Dimm, a being with powers beyond comprehension yet bound by his own specific rules, sits with two old women and lectures them on baking.
It's like sharing a table with the devil in disguise at a coffee shop. You end up talking about your favorite tv show, and he drops some lore you had never heard before. All this right before he goes to lose a fiddle contest.

Gaunter O'Dimm has Spiral vibes.
I hope this is who you meant? Unless there's another Gaunter O'Dimm.

After just playing a REALLY fun game with a Rogue that had expertise in Persuasion and Insight, I wondered how I could push the character idea further!
So enter this guy that I'm simply calling 'The Mask Merchant', partially inspired by Gaunter O'Dimm from Witcher.
This guy is a Rogue/Warlock, emphasising expertise and out of combat problem solving. Using his Invocations to give him Mask of Many Faces and either eyes of the runekeeper or detect magic at will.
Taking Rogue and using the Inquisitive Rogue archetype, he'd be a master of conversation, maybe taking the actor feat later on so that he can be extremely adept at moving in and out of crowds as a masterful spy or primarily as an incredibly skilled merchant. Sabotaging the competition or even posing as the competition to help draw attention to his own trade.
A master of lying.

THEORIES:
evil!jaskier is gaunter o'dimm.
no other character canonically has that much power.
i'm curious if he's made a pact with someone to manipulate jaskier, or if taking jaskier's face and interacting with him is the manipulation.
why the flowers though...

Things I'd like to see Netflix adapt from Witcher Games/books.
Geralt and Ciri's first meeting
The first time they meet in the book is after Geralt and Ciri get stuck in the Brokilon forest. Although neither of them is aware of the other, they still have a strong connection despite not knowing each other.
Gaunter O'Dimm, The master of Mirrors
In the Witcher 3, especially with the Heart of Stone expansion pack, you'll encounter a mysterious character named Gaunter O'dimm. As a precaution, I won't reveal more than that, but his presence is creepy yet so memorial.
Geralt being unable to kill a Doppler because it turns into Jaskier.
There is a point in one of the short stories where that happens. This also introduces the character of Dudu
The story of Anabelle
During the quest for a tower of Mice, you meet the ghost of a woman named Anabelle. As a result, she is among the characters in the game who has suffered one of the most tragic fates.
Ciri fake fainting
Ciri is, at one point, unable to decide whether to go with Geralt or Yennefer as she is torn between the two. So, to solve this problem, she pretends to faint in the middle of them both.
Jaskier and Ciri rob a vault together.
Even though this one is never seen, it is mentioned in passing. However, I am still interested in seeing it sometime in the future.
Geralt's Hanza
A group formed at one point in the story to protect Ciri. consisted of Gearlt, Jaskier, Milva, Cahir, Regis and Angoulême .
Give Jaskier more of a backstory.
Both the books and the games would mention this. Unfortunately, there is still little known about Jaskier's backstory, even though he is supposed to be a major character in the game and books.
Let me know other things that the Netflix show should adapt.

since the final bracket is basically decided, and we haven't gotten any asks about who got in, we've decided to post a handful of HONORABLE MENTIONS: characters who did not get in, but who we felt were notable enough to earn a shout-out.
CHARLIE BROWN, while having support in the form of "my mom also suggesting him", was disqualified for not actually being bald!
several characters, such as GAUNTER O'DIMM (The Witcher), PRUDENCE (Red Robin), DEACON (Fallout 4), GYOKKO (Demon Slayer), and FLINT (Mother 3) were disqualified because they seemed too badass. SORRY! we're sure they're funky in their own way, but we were searching for a very particular vibe here.
COLIN ROBINSON (What We Do In The Shadows) was disqualified because he somehow managed to take the vibe we were looking for and fuck it all up. just totally taking the "normal guy to little freak" spectrum and flipping it upside down and inside out. which is impressive! also he turned into a baby which retroactively disqualified him anyway.
GASTER (Undertale) was disqualified because ⚐☟📪 ✡⚐🕆🕯☹☹ 💧☜☜ 🖳✆
PACHYCEPHALOSAURUS (Real Life) was disqualified for a variety of reasons but we still think it deserves a mention. thank you to whoever submitted it. really.
most other characters who didn't make the bracket were disqualified for either being too popular and/or well-known (we had limited slots for those), not having designs that looked bald enough, not being enough of a Little Guy, or for failing the "will this attract discourse" check. a fair few were considered for the final bracket but wound up being replaced, and for those we may set up a more informal mini-bracket during the final rounds, or just do a second poll after this one! who knows! this is our first rodeo! we're winging it!!!
as always, shoot us an ask if you have any questions, and stay tuned!

the thing about Skyrim, for me at least, is that the PC is so devoided of characteristics in the attempt to make them everyman that every player can mold into whatever they want, that actually making my own Dragonborn seems pointless, none of the quests and their resolutions actually provides me anything about what kind of person my Dragonborn is, so despite having well over 100h before this current playthrough i never finished the main plotline or any other questline really, other than the Dark Brotherhood. there's a lot to do in this game but a lot of it is also kinda nothing, and role-playing anything seems to me senseless
well, up to now, kinda
so starting this playthrough i decided to not make a new PC and just play the game with my oc Namrevlis, i already know this character so i don't have a problem with playing with some blank-faced nothing i can't develop, and bc Witcherverse so kindly comes with multiverse build in, Skyrim version of Nam is not some AU, it's her after everything that happened to her in Witcher and Cyberpunk, she's at the endgame of her development as a character and the state of her abilities, Skyrim is her retirement so to speak, she has fun with this new land knowing that ultimately nothing she does there matters
the very first night Nam spent under Skyrim's two moons and the night sky, she had an absolutely terrible dream, and the very next day she learned she's now something called Dragonborn, and there was Destiny for her to fulfill, and well, Nam being Nam, just accepted it as the thing she apparently needs to do now, to kill Alduin
in Helgen there was a bit of confusion when they asked her the standard race/name questions, (bc i fucked up) bc she's Aen Elle, but doesn't actually look like Tamriel Mer, but she's also over 2 meters tall, and she still claims to be an elf, so they wrote down "Breton (giant)"
Nam had an intense eye-fucking/crime-witnessing moment with Ondolemar which i already described here but then their relationship developed further, Nam invited him to her house (from mods, it has a sauna and i think it's a sex thing, but idiot Ondolemar keeps sleeping on the floor and the only voice lines he has are his vanilla ones so he keeps asking if she saw any Talos worshiping, way to ruin the mood idiot😒), and then they kinda-but-not-really went together to the party in Thalmor embassy, and then was the peace treaty and like thanks gods Elenwen didn't mention Nam is as good as Thalmor asset, Ulrich would storm the fuck off, and even Tullius might be like hey wtf?!
(now, why would such a good Dragonborn be chummy with elven supremacists, and well, have you actually seen Wild Hunt recently? and Namrevlis is at her core a solder, a tool, she can get by on her own, totally, but if someone gives her a quest she will likely just do it just because it's something to do, it works well for video games ofc, but also i see Red Riders as child soldiers, in need of certain structure, even when they manage to escape, and Thalmor is paramilitary, its structure itself, Nam may not know their goals, or be actually in their ranks, but being just adjanced reminds her in some way of life back in Tir na Lia, both bad and good of it. it's messy, Nam is a messy character and i love her)
the first Daedric quest she did was Molag Bal's House of Horrors, and she take away from this situation was "I never fucked with Gaunter O'Dimm, but if these Daedric guys are all like this loser then I'm probably more than fine"
Nam did The Whispering Door quest after becoming the Listener and the whole time kept addressing Mephala as Mother, while Mephala was like "Um, no... Again, I'm just the Whispering Lady..."
speaking of Dark Brotherhood shenanigans: Nam did adopt Aventus Aretino (thanks mods!), because she has a soft spot for fucked up kids (say hi Alvin~); each time she stumbled upon Black Sacrament she would take Nightshade and heart as a way of acknowledging the ritual; she has a weird "not sexual, but still not-not sexual" kind of thing going on with "sweet, sweet Cicero" (one of my mods made him into a twink and y'know...)
#thirsty vs tes#witcher namrevlis#i will make more memes if i came up with something#that's a threat

Who in your opinion is the most compelling video game character of all time?
Who, in your opinion, is the most compelling video game character of all time? Who was that one character that made you go "what is this fuckers deal?! I need to know more about them!"For me it would have to be Gaunter O'dimm. Has tons of screen time, but still leaves you with so many questions about him even after you've gone through the story line.
