Saw blue beetle today !!!! And i am happy to say it was very good and fun :D definitely go see it if you can
Gonna talk about it lots under the cut! To be honest, this post is more for me to just record my own thoughts for myself, but youāre welcome to read if youāre looking for the movie opinions of a certified Blue Beetle Enthusiast, or if youāre desperate to feed on the Ted Kord crumbs the movie leaves for its viewers. (To be honest most of it is me talking about Ted sorry. hes my bbygirl)
- very minor spoiler warning -
First things first:
Jaime was so good!!!! His character was so sweet and earnest, and they aged him up to around 22 (heās literally just graduated from college), which I think makes him a very unique superhero. Heās just returned from school as a first gen college student and feels like heās finally in a position where he can provide for his family, only to realize heās still totally unprepared for the real world.
Speaking of family, the Reyes family is the backbone of the film, and each of Jaimeās family members is given their time to shine. Another breath of fresh air for comic book movies! Not only does the hero have a family, but the family consists of fleshed-out characters who all bring different strengths to the group. I liked Milagro a lot specifically. Like Jaime, sheās also been aged up and is now probably 17-18. I thought she was written super well. Sheās sarcastic and relaxed, and her relationship with Jaime is perfect sibling representation. Milagro is given a surprising amount of emotional moments, adding to her depth but also not taking away from any of Jaimeās development. Honestly, if youāre on the fence about going to see the movie, go see it just for the Reyes family dynamic. Theyāre seriously all great.
The other main supporting character is Jenny Kord, Ted Kordās daughter. Jenny is smart and resilient, and I enjoyed her a lot, despite her bearing very little resemblance to Ted personality wise. I know why she exists: to push the plot and act as the link between the two blue beetles. Sheās also Jaimeās love interest because of heteronormativity reasons. Still, I thought her character was done very well. Jenny is half brazilian and thankfully NOT Beatriz da Costaās daughter. Her relationship with either of her parents isnāt explored much. Her (unnamed and presumably unimportant) mother died when she was young, and Ted disappeared off the face of the earth when she was only eightā I think. To be honest, the timeline confused me a little.
Anyways, Ted Kord is portrayed very interestingly in the movie. Not in a necessarily bad way, though. Ted makes zero physical appearances in the film outside of a single, vague painting of his likeness where he has a mustache and maybe a beard (wow!). That being said, his face is totally unremarkable and unrecognizable. Which is fine. Iād almost prefer them to keep him vague unless they give him a full-fledged appearance.
BUT, there is a scene where Jaime has to change clothes, and Jenny offers him some of Tedās old clothing, and Jaime walks out in a bright blue windbreaker tracksuit. Itās totally 80s, totally silly, and totally Ted. The nod towards not only Tedās outrage fashion sense but also his 80s dad vibe was very much appreciated.
There are lots of little moments in the film where Tedās silliness seeps through. His lab is one example. Jaime describes Tedās gadgets as ābatman but if he had ADHD.ā In the Bug, the computer has a female robotic voice that addresses him as āTeddy,ā which Jaimeās uncle compliments as sexy. Ohhh the Bug. Easily one of my favorite parts of the film. Itās beautiful. It looks just like itās comic book counterpart, with the little trapeze rope swing and everything. It also has a ābeast mode,ā where, when triggered, the Bug plays 80s rock and starts destroying everything around it. Itās also capable of poison gas farts. Perfect. Tedās personality shines through everything heās left behind, giving me hope for whatever might be in store for his character on the big screen.
The only reservations I have about Tedās transition to film would he his relationships. His sister, Victoria, functions fine as a villain but isnāt anything special. Sheās a capitalist. Sheās evil. Like Jenny, lacks similarity to Ted himself. As for Tedās dead wife (sad but also itās hard to care), Jenny describes her mother as the one who āshowed Ted the world was worth protecting,ā which doesnāt sit quite right with me. For one, it seems weird to make a dead, non-comic-canon character so relevant to Tedās superhero origin, and also, I think Ted deserves a little more credit than that. Iād like to think heās always been a good guy, plain and simple. It also means Ted couldnāt have been a superhero for very long, which I think detracts from his coolness. I think Jenny even said Ted became blue beetle when she was a young girl, so it sounds like he couldnāt have been a hero for more than like 10 years? It just seems like a strange and unnecessary change to make. Then again, I realize most of the people watching the movie care very little about the second blue beetle, so I guess I canāt complain too much while knowing the intended audience.
Thatās not gonna stop me from talking about boostle though!!!!! Unfortunately, Booster Gold is not so much as even hinted at in the movie, which I kind of get but still mostly hate. It just feels wrong to have a movie where Ted Kordās career is one of the driving plot points and Booster is nowhere to be found. They are a package deal, DC!! I wasnāt even really expecting a verbal mention of him. Literally just a gold star somewhere in the lab, or a pair of yellow visors, or a blue and gold poster, or SOMETHING.
The life of a boostle fan is one of disappointment.
Still, the optimist in me is saying to hold onto hope. Thereās a Booster Gold series in the works, so maybe DC is saving up for a totally reinvented blue and gold origin, or thereās some connection between the two that has yet to be discovered. Hopefully. Surely DC wouldnāt be stupid enough to overlook one of its most iconic duos? haha?
Okay. This post has run a lot longer than I thought it would. Ultimately, Blue Beetle is a very good movie that does the characters of Ted Kord and Jaime Reyes justice. Itās fun and silly but also heartfelt. Even though thereās a few minor things Iām hung up on (because Iām insane), Blue Beetle did a lot of things right, and I feel like this movie has been one of the best comic book adaptations yet. Hereās to hoping we see a live action Ted one day, and he doesnāt totally suck ass.
#this is superrrr long like probably one of the longest things ive ever posted#*shaking* i just love ted kord so much#also adhd ted confirmed! sort of? its good enough#bug talks

an ode to my hands-down favorite characters, the heart and soul of my story, and worldbuilding ! did being The Worstā¢ļø skip two generations, or have i just ignored beatriz's children? questions that doing a part v would answer ... anyway, citing my sources: my story description, this scene, the bible & trainspotting (1996), nahuatl, that generations statue post alyssa did, and the road to el dorado concept art.
TRANSCRIPT:
[VO] Once, political struggles in Uspana proved the monarchy is only as permanent as the People choose to make it.
[VO] The Reyes family, however, is forever.
[VO] As a clan, they laid claim to the black jaguar for its rarity and symbolism of the traits they value most: vigilance, valor, ferocity.
[VO] They tell the story of a man called the Hunter who, in the face of danger embodied these traits and made Uspanaās ancestors into the People.
[VO] They would call him a king. They also called him a people-eater.
[VO] He became, or perhaps always was, a carnivoreāone who feeds on the flesh of enemies and builds power atop the bones. So, too, was CanarĆs.
[VO] Their descendants saw the figure of their chosen beast in the epithet and made it their own as well.
[VO] Not every Reyes is born a people-eater.
[VO] Nor is every people-eater born a Reyes.
[VO] They are one of a kind, even within the House of Tecuani.
[VO] These are the ones whoāin a game of life or death, power or destructionāchoose life for themselves.
[VO] They choose power like breathing air.
[VO] They play the game well and only occasionally overplay their hand.
[VO] The House of Tecuani is like any ancient dynasty: it rests upon a past both tumultuous and romantic. Its story is one of family and tradition, of relations and blood, of a place where time is a circle.
[VO] The family has carried the Crown for centuries with an understanding people-eaters know as a matter of instinct: we must be beloved, or we must be brutal, and it is better to be both.
[VO] āHistory is not past,ā those who belong to the family like to say.
[VO] It lives with them, and its ghosts whisper to their heirs:
[VO] Choose life. Choose power.

Consider this my magnum opus of why I love Booster Gold and why you should read these comics, but also: how Michael Carter and his family are connected to time travel. Itās kind of a hot mess because I run through a bunch of comics, but hopefully this makes sense!
Michael Carter, alias Booster Gold, is the first new hero introduced after Crisis on Infinite Earths. Booster is from the 25th century, where he was a college football player who got caught betting on his games and expelled, eventually becoming a janitor in a museum.
(Booster Gold (2007) #1)
At this museum, he befriends a security robot called Skeets. Eventually, Booster decides that he wants the adoration superheroes had in the 20th/21st century, and with future technology, he would be able to join up in the past. So Booster steals a Time Sphere, a suit, and a Legion of Superheroes flight ring. (Wait, the legion is from the 30th century, right? Yes. There are reasons this ring is in the past, and thatās mostly because Booster was always meant to become a superhero.) In the past, Booster establishes himself as a superhero, with a manager and number of sponsors. Heās about making money. This doesnāt necessarily make him a lot of friends. But he joins the Justice League International, makes friends with some heroes (including Ted Kord, the second Blue Beetle), and has a standard fare for a non-central character.
So flash forward to Countdown to Infinite Crisis. For those of you who havenāt read this one: This is a lead-in to the OMAC Project, and later, to Infinite Crisis, where Ted Kord notices a number of things that donāt add up. Unfortunately, Ted is not the most respected hero in the community, and no one quite takes him seriously. Wonder Woman says sheās busy but to keep her updated, and Oracle is trying to get him to pay more attention to other matters.
(Countdown to Infinite Crisis)
So Ted seeks out his best friend Booster to help. Booster, after some initial reluctance, joins up. Thereās some noticeable moments where Booster hints that he knows some things about the future (particularly, that Ted is going to die, and the Scarab means that the new Blue Beetle, Jaime Reyes, is about to take over): Booster keeps staring at the newly found Scarab. He asks Ted when he found it. Ted, in his narration, hints that Booster knew Doomsday would kill Superman, and he still took the first punch.
(Countdown to Infinite Crisis)
All of this parallels what happens next: Booster shoos Ted away from the computer and takes over. Booster gets hit by an explosion meant for Ted.
(Countdown to Infinite Crisis)
Consider: Later implications of time travel suggest that some small things can be changed, but the big things canāt. If Booster knew what was going to happen, did Booster only postpone Tedās death?
With that, Ted does die at the end of this story, and a part of The OMAC Project is Wonder Woman and Booster investigating Tedās death. But as much as I love Ted, weāre mostly talking about Booster and time travel today. So moving on!
In Infinite Crisis, Booster is the one who fetches Jaime Reyes. After returning to the 25th century to access historical records, he tracks down Jaime via the scarab. (Of course, this is another example of a potential change: Booster says he may be saving millions or billions of lives, but this is unsubstantiated.)
(Infinite Crisis #2)
(Infinite Crisis #5)
So this brings us to 52, the fallout of Infinite Crisis. Booster Goldās plot, while not obviously central in its introduction, plays a major role in bringing back the multiverse to the Post-Crisis continuity. Booster Gold, in the wake of the loss of his best friend Ted Kord, has sold-out again.
(52 #1)
With the help of Skeets, heās returned to his origins. He wants to be a hero and make bank. Supermanās not around, so who else could Metropolis turn to?
Booster is on the outs though. First, with the heroes: Ralph Dibny blames him for not realizing his wife Sue was going to be murdered. Beatriz de Costa (Fire) shames him for how heās acting after Tedās death.
(52 #7)
(52 #4)
Pay attention to that notepad. Booster writes the names of Rip Hunter and his fellow Time Masters, as well S.T.A.R. Labs Time Travel Division. Everyone but Rip Hunter is crossed out. Ripās name is circled, but heās noted as āunlisted?????ā
Because heās noticed a number of events that donāt line up with the history Booster and Skeets remember, Booster goes to visit Rip Hunter in his Time Lab in Arizona. Skeets has to hold the door open because of the lock, so Booster goes in by himself...
(52 #6)
...and sees this... (Feel free to read whatās on the chalkboard. A lot of it hints to happenings in both 52 and the One Year Later event, as well as other stories. It can be fun to make connections.)
(52 #6)
...and this. Yikes.
We soon find out that Booster hired an actor to fake an incident on a subway. Why? Well... that answerās not so clear. But considering the rest of the story, itās likely Booster wanted to discredit himself.
(52 #7)
Unfortunately for Booster, this ruins his reputation with the public, and heās soon replaced by a new, more humble hero: Supernova.
(52 #10)
And the public adores Supernova. Meanwhile, Boosterās sponsors pull out as his reputation goes down the drain.
Booster gets one last moment in the limelight, when he pushes too hard trying to upstage Supernova, and he dies... though heās recognized as a hero for his tragic sacrifice.
((Hold on if you havenāt read 52. Youāre going to find this one funny.))
(52 #15)
So... Booster is dead. Ha. What next? Well, Skeets seeks out Boosterās ancestor, Daniel Carter, for help to get back into the Time Lab. After all, Booster didnāt give Skeets the details.
(52 #19)
Daniel lets Skeets see into the Time Lab, where Skeets finally sees the same things Booster saw.
(52 #19)
Whoops! The real problem is Skeets. A little more menacing now, isnāt it? So Skeets abandons Daniel in the Time Lab, where heās sucked into a vortex thatās part of Ripās security measures. Meanwhile, Skeets is free to handle his evil plan. Whatever that is.
Back to Metropolis: Supernova is still out there, doing good. Heās also grabbing items that seem a little... eclectic.Ā
(52 #20)
And everyone is theorizing about whoās really under the mask. Cassie Sandsmark thinks itās Kon-El. Lex Luthor thinks itās Superman. Ralph Dibny puts the pieces together...
(52 #31)
But Supernova asks him not to say it out loud.
Later, we see that Supernova is actually working for Rip Hunter. Everything heās gathered has been for Rip, who, as you can see, is really going through it. (Sad they never followed up on why Rip Hunter was affected like this, but I have my own thoughts that I might say later.)
(52 #36)
Where are they working anyway? In the jarred city of Kandor! Of course, Skeets canāt find them here, can he?
(52 #36)
Whoops. Spoke too soon.
(52 #37)
But who is Supernova? That burning question weāve had for all these issues?
Itās... Michael Carter! Booster Gold!
(52 #37)
So, as Rip asks, Booster tells him. Booster knew something was off with Skeets. At the Time Lab, he almost asked him. But Rip Hunter arrived and recruited him for the long con. Rip needed Booster to gather materials, but they couldnāt alert Skeets. However, using a suit Rip rigged, Booster could be in two places at once: through time travel. After faking his death (using his real corpse from the future), Booster was sent back in time twelve weeks to complete Supernovaās actions.
Now Rip, Booster, and Skeets are engaged in a battle that, uh... is not continued until Week 50 on panel. If you count this as continued. I just love this panel.
(52 #50)
Actually, Skeets follows Rip and Booster to a lab where T.O. Morrow has searched the Red Toradoās brain to find out the truth of the 52 that heās been repeating throughout the series.
(52 #51)
Of course, itās not actually Skeets. The real Skeets was used as a chrysalis for Mister Mind... who has become a horrifying moth hellbent on eating the new multiverse.
(52 #51)
Rip drags Booster out, back to the Time Sphere, where they travel back to the beginning.
(52 #52)
After the events of Infinite Crisis, the multiverse was recreated. 52 identical Earths came into existence, and the same struggle has been taking place on all of them. These Earths are slowly aligning, and for some reason, Rip can see this, but Booster canāt. (Hold tight: Letās keep in mind, for some reason, Rip was totally non-linear earlier. Weāll come back to this.)
(52 #52)
Rip intends to save all of the Earths, as they slowly settle into the new multiverse, with help from Supernova! ...This time, Daniel Carter, the Carter family ancestor that Skeets/Mister Mind used earlier.
(52 #52)
Bad news is that Mister Mind is still bent on eating a universe. As he eats parts of the various Earths, he changes their history, which leads to each Earth being unique.
(52 #52)
Booster has doubts about their ability to face something this big, but Skeets, now broken from Mister Mind, cheers him on... Booster heads back to the one place he knows to get the right power source, and Rip hints about Boosterās āglory daysā soon to come. So now we know thereās a connection between Booster and Rip.
(52 #52)
But where is Booster going to get that power source?
(52 #52)
The immediate aftermath of the first crisis, where he talks a little with very young Ted Kord. (Sad.) Now we have to wonder how Booster knows to go back here? How much about time travel does Booster know yet?
Anyway, together, Rip, Booster, and Daniel succeed in defeating Mister Mind, and the multiverse is restored. Rip is very optimistic!
(52 #52)
So... letās cut to Booster Goldās second solo. Notice the title of his first story isĀ ā52 Pick-Up.ā Booster, after saving the multiverse, wants nothing more than to be a hero again. He wants to join the Justice League again! Unfortunately, heās recruited by Rip Hunter once again, who makes it clear that Boosterās destiny lies in time travel instead. And the world needs to think Booster is an idiot.
(Booster Gold (2007) #1)
Notice how Rip mentions his father? Weāre finally getting somewhere.
Meanwhile, the other weird Time Stuff, thatās going on. Back at Rip Hunterās Lab, Rip has written a number of interesting things on his chalkboard again.
Notice how Rip notes 1939 (the year Detective Comics was first published), 1985 (Crisis on Infinite Earths), and 2006 (Infinite Crisis). This shows how the crises actually affect time in the DC universe. Rip is, of course, aware of it. Is Booster too? How else would he know about the first crisis?
What is the connection between Rip and Booster anyway? Why does Rip care so much about Booster? Well...
(Booster Gold (2007) #1000000)
Thatās right! Booster is actually Rip Hunterās dad! So a lot of stuff weāve been over must make more sense now.
But seriously, the Carter family is heavily involved in time travel, and the way it interacts with them is interesting. Weāve already seen how Rip isnāt linear when the timestream is disrupted... but what about the other members? How does this all affect Booster?
Honestly, Iām not sure. And I just ran out of energy for this post. If you want to know more, send an ask! And read the comics. You will not regret it.
#megan liveblogs comics#well not exactly but this is pretty close ig#if i can make ONE person want to know more about booster and the carter family my job is done#i just spent hours on this mess and now i'm about to cry bc it's so bad i'm sorry

Ted for the ask thing-y
favorite thing about them
the fact he was the heir apparent to this legacy of magical power and when the magical artifact went āuh. No. No thanks.ā he just had to figure out how to be a hero on his own. The unchosen one!
least favorite thing about them
how since his revival heās been used to erase, discredit, & replace Jaime Reyes who is by every measure a better and more important character
favorite line
āPipe down, Scott, weāre eulogizing you!ā makes me laugh everytime im only moderately embarassed to admit. I have a sticker of that on my work water bottle
brOTP
I mean. Booster. But aside from that: probably Beatriz? I also love Babs, Scott, & PG with him, but Iām very drawn to the way Bea & Ted fill the same narrative niche while also being total opposites. I love that sheās one of the ones who hypes him up to his face the most and how often he pulls her into his shenanigans when sheās missing Ice.
OTP
boostle. what a plot twist.
nOTP
beated šŖ
random headcanon
Despite bragging occasionally about all the languages he knows, I think his pronunciation in all them except English is kind of shit because he mostly learned them by reading.
unpopular opinion
I think the view of Ted as like A Wonderful Person & Martyr is lame. Tedās a dick to people (especially Booster!) a lot, and people who think heās a good egg (unlike that dumb Booster!) are usually dismissing everything written before Infinite Crisis. Heās more interesting as a depressed mess who copes poorly via humor and unintentionally hurts the people around him like a lot.
song i associate with them
What a Loser by Garfunkel & Oates, man. The anthem.
favorite picture of them
this has been my icon for long enough now Iāve gotten emotionally attached
#oh god i got more of these than I thought I would they may take me a bit#talk tag#ask tag#anonymous#long post#? maybe

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU SCREWED UP THE PLACE CARDS?Ā
Uh-oh! Trouble is brewing on the horizon! The catering company in charge of the food has shuffled up all the name cards, leaving Descanso employees to hastily place everyoneās cards on the wrong tables. No oneās sitting where theyāre supposed to, which means ā will it be an hour and a half of pure awkwardness? Or will you be able to make some new friends?Ā

out-of-character information
As a way to encourage more interactions with other individuals, we have come up with tables of random groupings of characters! For dinner-related threads, you may only interact with these individuals.Ā
Please start at least four threads total with others sitting at your characterās table, preferably with a player that you have not interacted with,Ā though we encourage more if you can.Ā A reminder that they do not have to be long, and can be simple dialogue interactions if you wish.Ā
As a disclaimer, we worked hard to have each playerās character sit at a different table, and group characters with other ones that have not interacted much yet, but we cannot guarantee that you will be paired with a player that you have not spoken to. Please take the initiative yourself to contact players that you have not spoken to, if you can!Ā

JULIĆN | ā¦Iām not going to kiss and tell. Iām a gentleman. GERMĆN | Bullshit. And come on, man. Iām not asking for the play-by-play justā¦yāknow. Are you going to see her again? JULIĆN | Uh...maybe?Ā JULIĆN | [sighs] I had fun, but... GERMĆN | But? JULIĆN | So how do I measure up? VIVI | To my husband? JULIĆN | [laughs] No, Iām confident Iām a better lover than him. JULIĆN | But am I the best youāve ever had? Flatter me, beautiful, I'm very sensitive. VIVI | [chuckles] Fine. VIVI | You're the best I've ever had. [chuckles] Best of two. JULIĆN | Waitā JULIĆN | How was I supposed to know she was a virgin? GERMĆN | Sheās got a child, doesn't she. JULIĆN | Fine. The nearest thing to a virgin. JULIĆN | [sighs] I feel like a dirty old man. GERMĆN | [laughs] Hey man. If the shoe fitsā¦ ROSALIND | Heās really milking it, isnāt he? MARY | Oh come on. It was your idea. You told him to do this. ROSALIND | I told him to propose, not to shove it down everyoneās throats. MARY | I think youāre jealous. ROSALIND | Of course I'm jealous! He stole my ring! MARY | Stole? You gave it to him. ROSALIND |I had to! The engagement would have been obvious as a diversion if heād gone out and bought a ring from some Uspanian jeweler. ROSALIND | [sighs unhappily] I wanted to see you wearing it. MARY | ā¦maybe itās for the best. MARY | Donāt get me wrong. Itās a beautiful ring, but. Ah. Itās not really to my taste. ROSALIND | ā¦ ROSALIND | Well, weāll have to pick out something together then, wonāt we? [ROSALINDās phone vibrates.] ROSALIND | Hold on...oh no. Shit. MARY | What is it? MARY | Let me see! ... Oh no. Shit. ROSALIND | I'll speak to my father. We need to change our flight. EMILY | ...this trip has been incredible. Honestly, it still feels a little unreal. VIVI | Yeah? EMILY | Yeah. And...I've been meaning to ask you. How did you adjust? EMILY | I mean, with your background, it must have been a struggle. Like, I'm used to the lifestyle, but no one really knows what to expect, do they? VIVI | [sighs] EMILY | Do you have any advice for me, since we're going to be sisters and all? VIVI | No. EMILY | Uh...no? VIVI | What do you want me to say? EMILY | I just thought that you mightā VIVI | Figure it out. I did. VIVI | ...even with my background. EMILY | What? Oh, Vivi, I didn't mean it like thatā VIVI | Whatever. It's fine. EMILY | I'm sorry...Please don't be angry with me. I want us to be close. VIVI | I said it's fine. VIVI | [sighs] I can't wait for all this to be over. I want to go home.

Blue Beetle fan cast
I had an idea for a Jaime Reyes origin story that would cover a big cast of characters. Under the cut is every actor I would cast in a lead/supporting role along with the plot Iād have in mind.
Jason Genao as Jaime Reyes aka The Blue Beetle.Ā
Jason is already a break out star in On My Block and played Rictor in Logan, so a superhero movie would not be new to him. It would be interesting to see him take on a title role in a Superhero film.
Jordan Peele as Ted Kord
I know Jordanās focus is mostly in writing/directing as of the moment, but I believe he is more than qualified to capture Tedās personality. Also I think it would be pretty interesting to watch him play off who Iām gonna cast next.
Andy Samberg as Booster Gold, Andy carries enough genuine charm and wit to bring the balance of Michaelās character to screen. Heād be capable of demonstrating Booster towing the line between sometimes selfish showboat and the best friend anyone could ever ask for.
Naveen Andrews as Vandal Savage. Savage being an immortal would tie into how Booster comes into the story. Naveen would be able to carry the threatening yet sophisticated attitude that is the immortal Vandal Savage.
Now on to the supporting cast. For the most part Iām going to list characters I think should appear in the movie, but I will cast a couple of them.
Rico Rodriguez and Sarah Jeffrey as Paco Testas andĀ Brenda Del Vecchio. Jaimeās best friends who help to keep his secret.
Fernanda Andrade as Beatriz De Costa aka Fire. In this version, she would start out as Tedās assistant/bodyguard with a mysterious past and the powers to fly and emit green flames.
Other characters who I would include would be
Bianca Reyes, Jaimeā mom. Whoever played her would also be the voice of Khajida, Jaimeās Beetle as itās been said he hears Khajida talk in his motherās voice.
Milgro Reyes, Jaimeās little sister and surprisingly resourceful kid.
Alberto Reyes, Jaimeās father.
Black Beetles. In this movie, they would play the role of foot soldier for Vandal Savage. They would come in two types shown at different parts of the movie.
OKAY! I know that was super long, but now Iām finally going to get to the plot.
The movie would start in the far off future. Michael Jon Carter/Booster Gold is a thief along with his floating robotic companion Skeets. Michael have just stolen an artifact called the Scarab from despot Vandal Savage, who currently rules the world.
As Michael is pursued by Vandalās elite foot soldiers (known as Black Beetles) he comes across a room with a time bubble that would allow him to move through space an time in order to avoid being captured. He claims to know how to operate one because he read a book once, but as the machine starts up it is shot by an attacking Beetle. The time bubble activates and sends Booster and Skeets hurling through the time stream till they reach the present.Ā
In the present, the scarab falls out of hole in the bubble and flies off in a different direction than Booster and Skeets who manage to land safely.
The Scarab happens to land somewhere in El Paso Texas. A teenage named Jaime Reyes finds the scarab and carries it in his backpack. However, the scarab somehow activates and attaches itself to his back. Jaime shows his friends Brenda and Paco in hopes of them helping him get it off, but nothing seems to work.
Eventually Booster and Skeets find the kids and come up with a story about how they need to remove the scarab to use it to stop Vandal Savage. After skeets finds out that the only person smart enough to remove the scarab without harming Jaime is Ted Kord, the group eventually set out on a road trip to meet him. However what they donāt know is that Ted currently works for present day Vandal Savage, not knowing his bossā true motivations.
The movie would center around the group meeting Ted while trying to avoid Black Beetles who seek to rip the scarab right off of Jaimeās back. Booster and Ted would get to play off each other with Bea being the straight-man of the group. The three of them would mirror the three kids. Present Vandal and Future Vandal would communicate and the climax of the film would see the group having to fight both Vandals at once.

All the odd #s for Betty!
crucial muse development questions. Ā send a number in my inbox to find out more about my character as a person Ā ( because often, the most important things about character development have nothing to do with their shoe size or netflix queue ).
{ ivy } : letās play some angst why donāt we?
Under the cut because it got quite long, heh.Ā
what would completely break your character?Ā
When Betty left her own present to fix her parentsā past, she left behind a Jaime that didnāt remember her at all and a Bart that became a temporary anomaly that kept his memories about the past decade despite something having changed. If she somehow were to go back to her present (Back to the Future ha ha ha Iām hilarious) and Bart isnāt there to welcome her, sheāll probably just curl up into a ball and wait for the time stream to restore itself around her. Losing Jaime was one thing, losing both dads is enough to turn her into a mess.Ā
what was the worst thing in your characterās life?
Haha, here we go again. One day she woke up, went downstairs, had some breakfasts with her dads, and her entire life changed. Betty thought it was going to be just another day, but then the scarab seems to reboot, her papiĀ is there at the table one minute and the next heās crowding back towards the far wall, asking who she is and why Bart is in his house (Ā āMy house? Your house? Bartās house? I donāt even know anymore!ā). Betty has to muster all her strength not to cry because she fights with him a whole lot, but Jaime is still her father and she canāt bear the thought that he doesnāt know who she is anymore.Ā
does your character work so they can support their hobbies or use their hobbies as a way of filling up the time they arenāt working?
Interesting question. Betty is a teacher in her older verse, and she works as a teacher because she enjoys it (if you squint, this is all Jaredās fault tbh). She doesnāt consider her superhero work a hobby, tbh, and between teaching and being The Flash thereās not a lot of time left. Whenever she doesĀ have free time, however, she reads up on astronomy, but itās not a hobby that actually requires spending. So I think she just uses it to relax from all the superhero work and her actual work.Ā
how does your character feel about sex?
I donāt think youāve met Beatriz Allen-Reyes if this is a question that needs to be answered. The truth is that, while not the biggest thing for her, she actually enjoys sex a whole lot. Not to disclose anything that her dads might scold her about, but I mean.Ā
how many friends does your character want?
Bettyās ready to have all the friends, believe me. You guys should all come be friends with my cute little speedster.Ā
for what would your character give their life?
Her dads, definitely, without a doubt and no matter how angry she was. She will also put herself in between any of her teammates and danger, or any civilian sheās supposed to be protecting. Betty has a huge sense of duty towards way too many people, so sheās ready to give up her life for the greater good.Ā
what does your character pretend or try to care about?
Oh, s c i e n c e. She wants so bad to understand and care for science, but sheās not very good at it. Sheās good at things like math, and stuff with numbers that are logical. Itās not like she doesnāt do good on sciences, but she struggles a little bit more. And her dad is so good at it, so Betty will get really self-conscious about not caring much about science. Only science she cares about is astronomy to be quite honest.Ā
what is your character afraid of?
Losing everything. Her parents, her entire family, the suit, her powers, her city, her friends. Sheās so afraid to make oneĀ mistake and send it all to hell. Betty went back for a reason and sheās just so frightenedĀ that one day sheāll wake up and sheās not even there anymore.Ā
#bar;thoughts#bar;answers#{ this took me like an hour because my mom and i are watching a terror movie and i'm#freaking out a little#bUT ALSO I LOVED THE ONE ABOUT WHAT BETTY PRETENDS TO CARE ABOUT#because that's something i've always known of her but that I never really#like put it into words#and it's amazing#antiquefox#;headcanons
