I really like how fucking irrelevant both Amuro and Char are to the battle of A Baoa Qu. This is not a situation where Luke Skywalker blows up the Death Star, the battle is massively bigger in scope than either of them and only Amuro fully understands that.

a DinLuke kiss for either 30, 24 or 9 please 👀
This meanders like hell but they really were not cooperating with this.
Kiss roulette!
---
30 - A kiss to the palm of the hand
It is their third mission.
They work well together, once they get over their initial standoffishness. Din keeping his guard up, still wary of this man he trusted to once train his child, and Luke maintaining that impenetrable, aloof façade last only until the end of the first mission, when they are trapped and that distance might kill them. They make it out, and something shifts.
Luke smiles more, wider, more glittering things. Din talks more, allowing himself to be drawn into actual conversation. Small, concentric shifts that surprise the both of them.
Their second mission is seamless, goes off without a hitch: the Imps are too terrified by the presence of Luke Skywalker for anything but gibbering surrender, which Din is grateful for.
But then their third mission is the complete opposite.
The intel was faulty, there were numbers at the facility two men alone, even with one of them a nigh-omnipotent Jedi master, could never have dreamt of dealing with. They should be attacking this place with a squadron, a whole army, not two men and an astromech.
They have to cut their losses, run limping away to lick their wounds. Din’s going to kick Carson Teva’s ass for this one. As they run for their ship, Luke turns, throws his hands up. There are stormtroopers swarming towards them, an unstoppable white tidal wave of idiot true believers, and Luke digs into the Force to throw them back. He tries to wrench the blast doors closed, gets pretty far, there’s a sliver left between them…
And for once, a stormtrooper actually has good aim.
The blaster bolt goes right through Luke’s right hand, making him yell in pain. Din stares as he cradles it, teeth gritted, and he has to haul Luke away, back to their borrowed ship, depositing him with perhaps less gentleness than the moment would warrant into the co-pilot seat, but he’s desperate to get them off this kriffing moon.
He deftly dodges laser cannon fire, working the engines to screaming point to get them away as fast as possible. A retreat is, of course, dishonourable, but Din’s run from more overwhelming odds than he’d care to count at this point. He has a kid to take care of, so sue him. Once the rippling blue of hyperspace is around them, on course back to Nevarro, he whirls in his seat, hands reaching for Luke but not daring to touch, hovering weirdly.
Luke unfolds from himself with less of a pained moan and more of an inconvenienced sigh. Din watches him peel back his single glove with a grimace, to reveal a smouldering hole. Thank the manda Din’s helmet has filters, otherwise he’s certain the smell of charred flesh would be nauseating.
“That’s another one gone,” Luke grumbles, holding it up.
Din stares. “What do you mean ‘another one’?”
Luke turns his hand so the palm is facing Din. Din winces, but then he realises something. There’s no horrid sight of burnt flesh, but rather the snapped wires and broken servos of a prosthetic. Din stares some more, before sinking into his seat in relief.
Just a prosthetic. No horrendous, life-altering injury. Well… not a recent one, anyway.
Luke pokes at his own fingers, frowning. They don’t even twitch, the only movement left all in his wrist. Din sits up straight again, eyeing it. He wants to reach for it, study it, hold it gently. He blinks the thoughts away.
“How…?” He doesn’t know how to finish. Luke has never not answered a question from him, but he knows he’s being incredibly rude. “No, forget it…”
Luke looks up. “Oh. Uh… during the War.” His face is tight, pinched, something haunted in his eyes. It’s not a face Din has ever seen him wear. “I kriffed up, badly.”
“I’m sorry,” Din says, but Luke shakes his head.
“No, it’s fine.” He manages to hitch on a smile, something reassuring. “I’ll just need to go to Chandrila for a new one.”
That’s not what Din meant, but he doesn’t know how to correct Luke without making it worse.
“Can you not fix it?” he asks instead. Luke shakes his head.
“I’m a mechanic, but this is a little beyond me. It’s fried. Plus the synthskin needs replacing as well.”
Din nods. He knows Luke can probably fly his X-Wing perfectly well one-handed, but still… he can’t keep the worry from gnawing at him. He gazes at Luke, who has slumped into his seat now. He looks exhausted, truth be told, and Din feels the same, now the adrenaline is fading. He wants to sleep for about seven business days.
They travel on in silence, a rare thing for Luke, the both of them wrapped in their own thoughts for a long while. Din loses track of time as his eyelids grow heavy. They can afford to sleep until they get to Nevarro, he’s certain no one is giving chase, and he folds his hands over his sternum. They could have died, back there. Even with all Luke’s skill and power and his own experience, they came dangerously, terrifyingly close. Who would take care of Grogu? His gut twists sickeningly.
And he hates the way Luke stopped, putting his very unarmoured self between Din and a horde of stormtroopers, lightsaber disengaged. As if Luke was expendable. His gut twists again, some cold horror clawing itself up his throat, his heart thudding. What if? What if? His fist clenches on the armrest and he looks at Luke.
“Hey, Luke?” he says.
Luke hums, just enough of a reply that Din knows he’s still awake.
“Don’t… don’t try shit like that again,” he says. Luke opens his eyes, though they droop heavily, and he frowns.
“Like what?” he asks.
“I’m the one wearing the beskar,” Din says. “Let me take the hits.”
Luke blinks at him, then smiles, something sleepy and pleasant and something stutters in Din’s chest, something winged the colour of sunlight. He swallows.
“I can’t promise that,” he says, and that makes Din scowl.
“Are all Jedi this foolish?” he grumbles. Luke shrugs.
“I don’t know, I’m the only one.”
Another twist within Din, his heart aching. He isn’t fully in control of himself when he leans over, working almost on autopilot. He reaches out, his hand perhaps trembling ever-so-slightly, and takes Luke’s left.
“Then perhaps side-by-side would be a compromise?” he says. Luke looks down at his hand and Din’s, and back up again. Din sees his throat bob, swallowing just like Din did earlier.
“That could work,” he replies, his voice slightly hoarse in a way that makes Din’s heart stutter again, stop-start-stop-start, out of rhythm. He leans forward, tipping his helmet up, and kisses Luke’s palm. He hears Luke’s breath hitch, feels his hand quiver, his fingers twitch. Din rubs circles with his thumb where his lips just touched, feeling mystified by his own bravery.
“Good,” he replies, replacing his helmet. “We’re a team.”

I want post-heel-face turn Vader to get chucked back in time to land on Rattatak, just after Ky Narec's death. Vader is still a fucked up, charred, and limbless mess, but his organs are mostly functioning, and his life support suit and prosthetic lungs are in working condition (for now). He's also not really a good person, but he's trying, because Luke Skywalker Got To Him... and now he's got freshly-fallen Ventress screaming at him to teach her the ways of the dark side so she can get revenge on the pirates who killed Master Ky.
It's kind of a lot. She's kind of a lot.
Vader does not think he is qualified to be teaching anybody, tbh, and what he'd like to do is help nudge Ventress back to the Light (because Luke), but Vader barely knows how to be a not-terrible person himself anymore, and that means that convincing Ventress to stay Light is. A trial. He hasn't spent more than a few hours with a teenage girl since teaching the inquisitors. He hasn't spent more than a few hours with a teenage girl without torturing her since Ahsoka. He is... so bad at this?
He has no idea what to do with Ventress. What is he to her? Brother and Dad are both off the table for a variety of reasons, chief among them being
Her adoptive father literally just died
Vader was so monumentally terrible at being a father and brother that he attempted to kill his little sister AND both his kids
Also he was a failure of a Master for the same reason
So he compartmentalizes himself into "roommates in self-administered therapy."

Star Wars - PalpaPoe.docx
👀
I am intrigued!
Ooooh, OK, so this one is based on the premise that Poe is more Force sensitive than he thinks he is -- that Poe channels most of his Force sensitivity through the Force tree that Luke gave Shara, and when he spends that year nursing the Force tree back to health after the podracer/koyo orchard incident, he gets incredibly strong in the Force.
So Palpatine starts whispering in his brain across the Galaxy.
But Poe, being Poe, chooses goodness and Light and ultimately helps defeat Palpatine, etc.
Tumblr media
"Poe, what were you thinking?!"
The smoldering remains of a row of koyo vines pops and crackles, a few burst fruits still glowing with small blue flames. At the edge of the orchard, a curled tree taller than the koyo plants shivers in the wind, the sad reminders of its leaves still dripping water where Kes had run across the field with the emergency hose to douse the most dramatic of the flames. Where the Force tree had once had soft, shimmering brown bark the color of a whisper-bird's wing, its wrapping now is peeled, charred, and black. Everything reeks like the aftermath of a battle back when Kes was a Pathfinder. He half-expects to see the oozing remains of stormtroopers in the debris beneath the koyo shoots.
In front of the ruined tree—and season of crop money—is one very embarrassed, sad, angry, wet nine-year-old boy. Poe's arms cross his skinny, stocky chest so tightly that his knuckles are white. He can't look Kes in the eye.
"I was trying to help!"
Kes Dameron closes his eyes and inhales slowly. Diez… nueve… ocho… siete… "I told you to harvest the baby koyos, not set fire to the whole damn farm, Poe."
"I was harvesting them! I just—I needed to get it done fast!" Poe's voice sounds thick. Tears.
Kes can't deal with tears right now, not when he needs to figure out if they can still earn enough from what's left to keep Poe fed until next year's harvest. "Why? What in the name of the Light made you think putting a podracer engine on the harvester was a good idea? What if you had been what blew up, and not the melons? Poe, you could have killed yourself!"
"You said if I got it done by tonight, I could go up in the A-wing!" Poe's arms shoot out to his sides, hands clenched in chubby fists. "You said! So I was getting it done!"
"Poe." Kes wilts down to a crouch so he can meet his son's watery, blazing eyes. "I said that because it was a nice way of telling you no. You cannot take that A-wing up by yourself. Especially not during a meteor shower."
"But you said that if—"
"I know, and I should have just been honest." Kes interrupts him before he can keep working up the lather of a meltdown. "But you know that it's too dangerous to fly by yourself, even when the skies are calm. Why did you think I'd let you?"
Poe bites his lips together and refuses to look at his father.
Kes just waits, even though he wants to run to the Force tree and make sure that the fire is really out, or run to the commlink and see if he can get a line out to General Skywalker just to see if the tree can be saved. It—it can't be dead, too.
"Mamá promised me." Poe's voice is very quiet. "Mamá promised me, next time there's a shower, I could see it."

A New Hope
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan, and the smuggler Solo, warned Luke how quickly the vacuum of space would leech the heat of Tatooine's twin suns from his bones and his flesh, how the drastic change might shock him far more than witnessing the charred remains of his family and his home; physically at least.
The Falcon broke free of the planet's atmosphere with ease, the expanse of dark, cold space offered nothing but silence and uncertainty; despite the old man, the crack-shot pilot and his wookie companion, the teenage farmboy was alone.
He would spend time wallowing in self-pity, trying to come to terms with guilt he felt for not being able to save his aunt and uncle and then those selfish thoughts would turn to anger towards the Empire.
As the desert planet grew smaller, the blonde huddled underneath a blanket woven of foreign wool. His predictable existence as a farmboy was over, just like he'd dreamed so many times before, but the cost of his freedom from tedium came at much too high a price.
Obi-Wan, whom his uncle had referred to as the 'strange old hermit', didn't cease voicing his concerns for the princess or the rebellion and neither did Han Solo desist in his complaints that his passengers had painted a target on his back.
Amid the chaos, Luke Skywalker pondered what exactly his purpose was supposed to be.

I’m not even attracted to men, but I do respect that Luke’s appearance morphs from generic quasi-pretty boy in ANH to wildly varying depending on the scene in ESB.
Like, confident commander Luke? Cool, but eh. Fatalistic swamp Luke? Looking better. Repeatedly clobbered, emotionally devastated, exhausted Luke with one hand sliced off? He looks great! Not everyone pulls off a really bad day that well.

The core of that interpretation is that "she lost the will to live" is the cause of Padmé's death. However, I have four issues with this:
The medical droid explicitly and clearly and repeatedly stated, it has simply no explanation for why she is dying. "Medically, she is completely healthy" it says, "for reasons we cannot explain, we're losing her.... we don't know why [she is dying.]
It's proposed that Padmé responded with traumatic stress with "give-up-itis": developing extreme apathy, give up hope, relinquish the will to live and die, despite no obvious organic cause. However, she is not going through the stages of "give-up-itis", and she is not showing any symptom of apathy. In fact, she experiences joy when she is looking at her children and she is dying in a state of hope, insisting, there is still good in Anakin Skywalker.
If the droid is familiar with the medical condition of losing the will to live as a cause of death, a.k.a. "give-up-itis", why it states, "medically" she is completely healthy and denies that it has any explanation?
The movie itself is not supporting the idea that she died of a broken heart. I am not buying into the "Palpatine drained the life from her to resurrect Vader" theory, because that power became canon only with Episode IX.
I have my own explanation. The older one is that Padmé's connection to Anakin allowed her to feel his emotional torment of turning into Darth Vader, just like she was able to feel Anakin's emotional pain in the "Padmé's rumination" scene, and this experience of oneness was lethal when Anakin not just physically, but spiritually burned up, and the torment of fear, anger, hate, aggression burning away Anakin and leaving the charred shell of Vader.
I developed the new one after I heard Lucas summarizing attachment in an interview as: “If you have a bird in your hand and you hold it too tight because you don't want it to go and fly, eventually you'll crush it. The important part is to let it go and fly off and be on its own. It will come back. And the love will be even stronger.”
I think, Anakin's attachment to Padmé - grasping her, clinging to her, grabbing her, not wanting to let go of her, holding too tightly - that manifested itself in him reaching out with the Force and grabbing her, choking her, didn't end when he let her go on Mustafar.
Visually, it’s important to note that the audience is left without any clue, apart from Sidious makes it clear that it was Anakin who killed Padmé in his anger, and we could see him angrily grasping into her, and she is choking. From that point, Padmé is dying, and as Anakin becomes more and more Vader, her condition worsens. Everything is pointing to the notion of suffocation. It was shown numerous times that the Force, for it is greed or compassion, knows no distance. Padmé felt Anakin’s pain in the scene, Padmé’s ruminations, Leia felt Luke in Empire Strikes Back and in Return of the Jedi. Also, Obi-Wan and Yoda are both attuned to the Force as a whole, feeling the shifts from Light to Dark in Revenge of the Sith and in A New Hope. Anakin was still grasping into Padmé, even after she was taken to the edge of the galaxy, hold on to her so strong, that he crushed her soul, spirit, Living Force, killing her. When he finishes his transformation to Vader, entirely giving himself away to his greed, selfishness, self-centeredness, fear, anger, hate and pure attachment, taking his first breath as Darth Vader, Padmé takes her last breath and dies.
So, "she lost the will to live" doesn't mean, she lost the conscious wish to be alive. It should refer to “will to live” like “testament of the will of a living body to cling onto existence” or “the patient is at the will of her body.” Padmé, as a living thing, her biological form lost the "will" to function, to live, to uphold and preserve her, to cling into existence. The medical droid describes the dying process, not the cause of her death – what it was repeatedly stated that was beyond its understating.
How could Padmé tell there was still good in Anakin? Was it a force thing or just unwavering faith?
I don't feel that "just unwavering faith" carries the right connotations. She sure had trust and confidence in the fact that good cannot be fully eradicated from someone, as good and evil are conjoined and interdependent and consisting each other, but this wasn't exactly a new information for Obi-Wan, that's not the point of her last words.
Padmé knew that there is still good in Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the same way Luke and Vader knew that they're actually father and son: "Search your feelings. You know it to be true." I think it's appropriate to call this a "Force thing", but it has nothing to do with one's natural ability to wield the Force, rather, it's the Force itself, that encompasses all living things but also goes beyond them all. It's to know things in the heart, through the heart, it's being told by the little voice inside you, it's being told by your inner feelings. So, she knows this for a fact, and because of this, she dies in a state of hope and profound confidence that it all will be fine, rather than in a state of despair, and she is using her last breath to share it with Obi-Wan.
Also, I'm pretty convinced that Padmé and Anakin were connected when Darth Vader was born, so she was able to actually experience the unity with him, sharing his being, thus, being able to see and feel that goodness within Vader. Just like Luke was able to reach out to Leia in Episode V, that ounce of good that was left in Anakin was able to let Padmé know that it's there and waiting to be given power to.

Forever sad that Sayla wasn’t there to redeem her brother in the end. I would have loved to have seen her helping Amuro with saving the Earth from Char’s genocidal asteroid. Have her pull a Luke Skywalker or something to bring him back to the proverbial Light Side before he ultimately perished.
