Spent my three hour train ride today writing most of the second chapter of Sugar for the Secretary and... whoever cursed me in the comments with predicting this turn into a longer fic... how dare you.
Anyway yeah this is. Running away from me. I nearly wrapped chapter two and they still haven't kissed or done the dirty. This is gonna be at least three parts long.
Why do my fics keep running away from me it is honestly so rude.
Anyway so this post isn't JUST me complaining, have a tiny preview of Wednesday's chapter!

“I would like to get to know you more,” Peter offered. “You are a packless young wolf living in my territory. And I’d rather avoid having a feral omega at my hands in a couple months. Let’s get to know each other, see if you are a good fit for our pack and if our pack is a good fit for you.”
“I’m not joining any pack without Stiles,” Isaac spoke firmly.
“Oh, we totally want Stiles,” Erica chimed in. “We have been trying to make him join our pack for at least two weeks now. Some of us for longer. Why did he only ask for you to join?”
“Beats me,” Isaac frowned. “But it makes me feel suspicious. Because if he can trust you people with me, why doesn’t he trust you enough to want to join your pack himself?”
“It’s not about my lack of trust, pup. I don’t know how far they can or would trust me.”
“If that’s about this possession,” Peter started, pinning Stiles with a look where the boy had just reentered the dining room. “I may not know the details, but I know enough about possessions to know that you weren’t in control and that you aren’t to be blamed for what happened. And if the possession really was broken, there is nothing to worry about.”
Stiles tilted his head where he still stood close to the door, watching them. “It’s not about that, but… I do appreciate the sentiment. It’s… You said you don’t trust magic users with your pack.”
Peter froze, regarding Stiles with wide, intrigued eyes. Chris furrowed his brows, wishing his husband was still sitting next to him so he could take Peter’s hand.
“You’re a… magic user,” Peter tilted his head. “That’s why you knew we don’t have wards.”
“Ye—eah,” Stiles sighed wistfully, tilting his head back to stare at the ceiling. “Drives me up the wall that not even your pack house has wards. Are you even able to sleep at night?”
“Whatever do you mean,” Peter raised an eyebrow again.
“Your last pack house was burned down,” Stiles pointed out, looking at the Alpha. “How… How do you sleep at night knowing your home isn’t protected against that? I’m sorry. That was intrusive.”
“I feel like we made you bare enough of yourself at this point to justify the question,” Peter chuckled darkly. “I… often don’t sleep well, but there is nothing I can do about it.”
“Yeah,” Stiles huffed. “And that’s what I mean. You don’t trust magic users to put up simple wards. I didn’t see me asking to join your pack go over well.”
“I don’t trust magic users,” Peter nodded slowly. “Strangers I have never met. I know you, Stiles. You’re not just a magic user, you’re… Stiles. Though I would like to know what you are first.”
Stiles licked his lips, Chris watching the motion enraptured. Pink tongue on pink, bow-shaped lips. He ground his teeth together. How was this boy that tempting? Lifting a hand, Stiles wiggled his fingers around until blue sparks twirled around them, like electricity. His eyes glowed a vibrant turquoise, intense and intimidating in a way Chris didn’t even feel about Alpha eyes. Perhaps because he’d been raised as a hunter to not fear wolves. This? Chris had never seen before.
“I’m a Spark,” Stiles declared, balling a fist and letting the sparks extinguish.

Chapter 1
I hugged the black coat to my body as hard as I could whilst pushing through the sea of press. Our family's last name became quite known after the reports about my aunt, whose burial we were attending. She had allegedly burned down a house with people in it.  She killed them in cold blood. I hugged my grieving uncle and his less grieving wife, then my cousin who had a painful look on her face. I hugged her the longest. She let herself crumble on my arms, sobbing uncontrollably. Even though she was a horrible person she was still our aunt, family.
I took my seat behind Allison when my father, my mother, uncle Chris, and aunt Victoria stood up. Allison didn't lift her head and neither did I. I just tried to comfort her.
"It's been such a long time I don't expect you to call me grandpa." We both looked up to see a white-haired man who resembled the Argent features. "Don't worry about it, just call me Gerard." He hugged both of us, an overpowering aura emanating from his being. When we were engulfed, I looked to the side and saw two boys squatting behind a gravestone. If they were hiding, they were doing a horrible job at it.
"But I prefer Grandpa," Gerard said walking to his seat. I sat back down and drifted off during the whole ceremony. Once it was over, I joined my parents and we drove to our new house. I have a feeling that life here will be very interesting.
That weekend I decided that I had been putting working out off for too long. I changed into comfortable workout clothes and gave food to my dog, Brody. I headed out the door, put my earbuds on, and started to jog. I really didn't know where I was going since it was a new place for me, all I know is that I kept running until I reached the woods. The bad thing about this, I had no idea how to get back home. Even though I knew of this sidetrack and I knew I would be late to get back home, I kept running, needing a release from the mundane feeling of being new in town and having to reunite from our estranged family in a funeral.
I had gained a lot of momentum. God knows how fast I was running at this point that is until I hit something, it almost felt like a wall. When I looked up, I saw a very handsome guy. Spiked hair, green eyes, and slight stubble. If it weren't for the fact that I was already sweaty I would have started to sweat showers of how nervous I was. That is until he opened his mouth.
"Watch where you're going." He growled at me.
"How about you fucking move and not be a prick?" He looked at me with big eyes, probably in surprise, but quickly changed to his menacing look. Who was he trying to fool?
"Well, this is private property, which means that you're trespassing, meaning you should pay more attention to your surroundings."
"I'm sorry but a burnt-down house with almost no walls or roof is barely a property. So, how about you stop being an idiot and I can be on my way." I started to jog once again but he gained my attention once more.
"You're new here, aren't you?" I turned around to face him.
"What's it to you?" He raised his eyebrow.
"I'll take that as a yes." The cockiness oozed out of his pores.
"And why the hell should that matter?"
"Because no one would dare talk to me that way."
"Who would be afraid of a little sour wolf?" He tensed up. "Dude, chill. I'm just kidding. But I doubt anyone would be afraid of Mr...."
"Hale. Derek Hale." He said extending his hand to me. Gee, after screaming at me he wants us to be acquaintances. I thought about not shaking his hand, but I didn't want to be rude. Well, more than I have been already.
"(Y/N). Argent." I shook his hand. Strong grip. Suddenly I felt a rush of déjà vu; I had met him the day before. "Wait, aren't you that guy I accidentally hit with my grocery cart yesterday?"
"Yeah, that really hurt. You hit my ankle. You could've had me limping."
"But you're not, so be grateful I didn't break your ankle." He laughed. "Damn, if I had known how cocky you really were, I would've hit you harder."
"So, you admit that you hit me?"
"Oh yeah, of course, I hit you. Accidentally that is."
"Yeah, yeah."
I looked around trying to find where the hell I had come from but there wasn't even the slightest trail as to where I was to go.
"So, miss (Y/N). Do you even know your way home?"
"No, but I'm sure I can find my way back." Then, he took keys out of his pocket and pointed to his car.
"Come on, I'll drive you around and you just tell me when something seems familiar."
"And why should I go with the guy that almost ripped out my throat for bumping into him? For all I know you could be driving me to my death." I crossed my arms over my chest, and he let out a loud sigh.
"Look, I'm sorry for snapping. But I'm trying to be nice. That doesn't happen very often."
"Alright, Mr. Hale. I'll let you take me home just because you are being nice now, after being a prick, and I'm exhausted."
"See, no one can resist me." I rolled my eyes at his cockiness. Seriously does he buy cans of it on eBay?
"Don't get cocky with me. I can punch the living daylights out of you." He chuckled and started to drive.
We drove for about 20 minutes until I finally recognized the curb that led to my house. Upon arriving at my driveway, I got out of the car and walked to the driver’s side.
"Give me your hand” For some reason, I felt compelled to do so. He took a pen and wrote down a number. "Call me if you ever need a tour of the town."
Three weeks later, I walked inside the school to meet up with Allison. I moved here with my family since dad had some business taking float. Being the new kid in town is never fun. I would know. I switch schools almost every year. The pro and con about this would be not being attached to anyone. Usually, I'm the one who doesn't talk to anyone and is called a freak. A derogatory term given to people who are way too different from others, but a title I wore proudly.
"Oh my gosh, (Y/N)! How have you been?" Allison wrapped her arms around me and hugged me tightly. It was as if she hadn't seen me just three weeks ago.
"Hi, Allison. I've been good, getting acclimated to the new town. You?" You would think that because we were cousins, I would be more affectionate towards her but honestly, I wouldn't see her again for like three more years, so what's the point?
"I'm good. A little rocky at the start of coming here but good." Then, a boy with a buzz cut and one with great brown hair walked by and smiled at Alli. "Ooh, you should come meet my friends. Stiles, Scott!! Come here." The boys turned around with goofy grins on their faces.
"Hey, Allison. Who's this?" Buzzcut kid said.
"This is my cousin, (Y/N). She just moved here from Virginia."
"Pleasure to meet you. I'm Scott." The one with the great hair said.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Stiles." I shook their hands and smiled.
"Nice to meet you, too, buzzcut." Allison and Scott laughed but Stiles only ran his hand through his hair, suddenly becoming hyperaware of his lack of locks.
"Allison. Who might this sexy lady be?" I rolled my eyes. The last thing I need is a narcissist with a god-complex trying to get close.
"Oh, Jackson, this is my cousin, (Y/N)."
"Hi." He extended his hand and looked me up and down.
"Hi." I smiled sarcastically, and when I didn't extend my hand, he dropped his.
Finally, after standing awkwardly behind Allison whilst her friends talked, the bell rang. Talk about saved by the bell.
"Hey, (Y/N), what's your first class?" I checked my schedule.
"Um, chemistry."
"Oh, good, then you're coming with us to Mr. Harris' class," Scott said pointing towards him and Stiles. I smiled and walked behind them.
Once we got to the classroom everyone turned to me, the ever-present sign of being new in the class evident in the stare of my classmates.
"Um, hi, my name is (Y/N) Argent and I'm new." The teacher, whom I guess is Mr. Harris, turned around to face me.
"Oh, yes, Miss Argent. Welcome. You will be sitting next to Isaac Lahey. Lahey, raise your hand." Once Isaac raised his hand, I noticed he was sat near Stiles and Scott. Two people I was trying to avoid. As I walked past, I accidentally pushed Stiles' book on his lap, startling him, resulting in an awkward descent from his lab stool onto the floor.
"Hi, again. I guess we are gonna see a lot of each other for the rest of the school year." I nodded and he scratched the back of his neck. "So, um, what school did you come from?"
"Lancaster High," I responded whilst writing down what Mr. Harris was writing on the board. Stiles kept trying to talk to me, but I would only give him short, cold answers or just ignore him. That is until Mr. Harris called our attention, that's when he finally got the memo to shut up.
"I'm sorry to bother you, but I just wanted to introduce myself since we're gonna be seated next to each other all year. I'm Isaac."
"I figured." I tried giving him my best smile. The vibe he was giving off seemed like he needed it. "I'm (Y/N)."
"Well, nice to meet you, (Y/N). Now I'll leave you to the class because if I don't I know I'll be failing even more than I am."
"Oh, well, maybe I can tutor you some time. I'm actually really good at science. My mom was a chemist professor once upon a time so I'm bound to understand all this."
"Really?!" His puppy eyes seemed to light up and I nodded. "That would actually be amazing."
"Sure thing. Now let's get back to class."
After Chemistry finished, I put everything in my bag as quickly as possible and sped to my next class, Math. Thankfully, none of Allison's friends shared this class with me but I did share it with Isaac.  I didn't consider him much a friend but more an acquaintance in desperate need of help.
As the day progressed, I noticed the rest of my classes were shared with one or more of Allison's friends. They all tried to strike up a conversation but were quickly discouraged when met with my one-worded or vague answers. Especially, Stiles. He tried especially hard to get answers out of me, only being met with the occasional laugh or stare at his comical occurrences. He seemed like the kind of person you could just open up to. The same could be said about Scott. His shy nature was alluring, and he portrayed himself as a very trustworthy and loyal being.
But I would not allow myself to let them in. My whole being yearned for a real friendship, someone to share nothing and everything; never again.
At lunch, I sat outside and ate my food quietly, a book in front of my face to shield my eyes from the sun the prevalent stares of my peers. After some minutes of appreciated loneliness, the empty table was filled with conversating teenage bodies. I smiled politely but, in my mind, I was cursing them out.
"So, (Y/N), how's your day been?" Allison asked whilst munching on an apple. I swallowed what was left of my bite and answered.
"Fine, thank you." This time no one pressed on after my short answers, finally getting the hint of my disinterest. In the corner of my eye, I saw Isaac sitting under a tree munching on half a sandwich. I excused myself and went to join him, heavily enjoying his tranquil aura.
"Oh, hi, (Y/N)." He smiled sheepishly.
"Hey, Isaac. Is that all you're eating?"
"Yeah. I'm not very hungry." He looked down as if he were ashamed.
"Nonsense! Here," I gave him the other half of my burger and another bag of chips I had in my bag. "You can't tell me you're not hungry. You're a boy in peak development."
"Thanks." He smiled as he continued munching on his food. I put on some music and we continued eating in silence. No conversation required.
The day went on smoother than it started. Classes flew by fairly quickly and the incessant chit-chat seemed to diminish. During last period I was like every other student, anxiously waiting for the bell to signal the end of the school day. When my pleads were answered, I packed the necessary book into my bag and left the rest in my locker, expertly avoiding any more social encounters. Quickly, I made my way to the waiting open car door of my father's car, ignoring Allison's beckoning me t.wards the small group of friends.
"How was your first day, darling?" My father spoke up breaking my attention from the scenery.
"Like any other first day I've had." I smiled. "The towns might change but school is always the same."
Finally at home, we were greeted with the sight of my mother cooking; people were coming over.
"(Y/N), honey, Chris, Victoria, and Allison are coming over tonight. So, go do a quick workout and come back to get ready." I nodded and ran to my room to change into workout clothes.
My routine would normally consist of waking up, working out, go to school for a dreading eight hours, come back home, workout again, do my homework, eat, and go to sleep. I lead a very monotonous life and it had been this way since I could remember. One of my earliest memories was of my father teaching me archery alongside Allison, a great distraction to our always disrupted home life. As I got older, my father started training me in boxing and knife maneuvering. How would these skills help me in life were still a mystery but I felt safe knowing them.
I got changed and decided to take Brody out with me on a quick jog through the woods. "Hey, boy, ready to go?"
He jumped on me which I took as a yes and started for the woods. We ran down the same trail I had been going on for the past three weeks. Mostly, I went down this track in hopes that Derek would make an appearance, and today was not the exception. As the ruins of his house came to view so did his tall figure.
"Trespassing again?"
"It doesn't count if I know the owner." During our greeting, Brody's leash slipped out of my hand and he ran to jump on Derek, leaving slobbering licks on his cheek. "I'm so sorry."
"Don't worry about it." He chuckled and helped me bring him down.
"I guess he likes you, even though he doesn't like anyone but me. Guess you're special."
"Maybe." He grinned.
Out of nowhere, I hit him in the shoulder. "What was that for?!"
"For trying to run me over with your shopping cart two days ago. It was uncalled for."
"No, it was revenge. You hit ME first. In the ankle."
"You're still on with that. Come on, sour wolf. That happened three weeks ago, and it was an accident."
"Whatever. Come on, I'll give you a ride home. It's getting kind of dark." This had also become part of my routine. After "bumping" into Derek he would offer to drop me off at my house, claiming it was for security.
"Okay, we're here. By the way, the offer to show you around town is still up. Just call me whenever." He said as he stopped the car in front of my house.
"Alright, will do, and thanks for the ride, Derek. I'd invite you in, but my family is coming over."
"No worries, maybe another time."
"It's a date. Anyways, thanks again. See you when I see you."
"Okay, goodnight."
"Night." He waited until I entered the house and drove away.
"Munchkin, is that you?" My father screamed from the kitchen.
"Yeah!" I screamed back.
"Okay, well, go take a shower and get ready your uncle will get here soon."
I hurried up the stairs and hopped in the shower letting the hot water stream down my body calming any aching muscle that was palpitating. In my room, I searched through my closet for an acceptable family dinner outfit, deciding a grey sweater and black jeans would be enough. I braided my hair out of my face and went downstairs to help my mother set the table.
After we put the last plate the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it!" I ran to the door and was greeted by my uncle. "Uncle Chris!" I jumped and he hugged me. There was no doubt that he was my favorite family member, his presence was always welcoming. His wife on the other hand was as cold as the winters we spent in New York. She was nice but absolutely scary. "Hi, Aunt Victoria."
"Hello, (Y/N)." I hugged her and said hi to Allison.
"Come in, guys." They walked in and I closed the door behind them.
"So, (Y/N), how have you been?" Uncle Chris asked while stuffing his mouth with mom's famous lasagna.
"I've been good. I mean, moving all the time takes a toll on you at first, but I got used to it. It's easy now to pack it all up once the school year ends."
"Oh, honey, that must be so hard on you," Victoria said. I could not read her tone, her words spoke in sympathetic notes with an underlying melody of sarcasm.  Not knowing what to answer, I bit my lip and nodded.
The whole evening was spent on us catching up and eating, laughing, playing games, but the good times came to an end when the clock hit 9:00 pm. It was stupid to set a curfew, but my mom usually had everyone in bed at this time, 10:30 as of late.
"You better come around the house more often." Uncle Chris demanded and hugged me.
"Yes, sir." I raised my hand to my eyebrow and saluted, as did he.
"Let's go, Chris. And thank you for the lovely dinner, Rebecca," Victoria said linking arms with my uncle and smiling at mom.
"No problem. Come by any time." They talked for a bit more and after they left, I went upstairs to change for bed.
"Momma, I'm gonna go to sleep."
"Okay, honey. Goodnight." I went upstairs, brushed my teeth, and put my hair in a ponytail.
Before bed, I made sure everything I would need for the next day was packed into my bag and made sure my alarm was set. I pulled all the throw pillows from my bed and set them aside, then making my way to the window to draw the curtains. Something caught my attention in the backyard, though. My eyes squinted trying to make out the figure in front of me. Blinking the confusion away, I made a double-take and looked back at an empty yard. I laughed to myself as I crept into bed. Why would Derek be in my backyard?

Derek Hale x Reader
A/N: Hey everyone. I know I’ve gotten a lot of messages concerning this fanfic. Honestly, with all this time on my hands I still find it hard to get to writing anything because of the current state of things in the world and my mental health. And when I do, I end up rewriting a lot of things but I don’t like the way the chapters turn out and I want to make sure I put my best work out there for you. I’m slowly finding things to keep myself motivated but I am also spending a lot of time outside to keep my sanity. (Don’t worry I just sit on my porch I don’t go anywhere if I don’t have to.) I am feeling a lot better than I have before so I will be (hopefully) writing more often. Also if you send me messages and I don’t reply to you. Don’t take it personally. I use the mobile app mostly and I don’t know why I don’t see the messages that I see when I’m on desktop. I hope you’re all staying healthy and safe. xxx

Penthouse
Beacon Hills High School
“This better be important.” You whisper. You set down the books you grabbed at random and joined Ethan at the table. You were waiting for Kali to return to the penthouse when he called you and told you to meet him.
“It is.” He told you. He looked around to make sure no one was leaning and leaned over the table. “A teacher’s missing. And last night, they found a deputy. Dead. Here.”
“What’s the connection between the deputy and the teacher?”
Ethan shrugged.
“It couldn’t have just been a coincidence? I mean the teacher, makes sense. Philosopher. But the deputy? Guardian?”
Ethan shrugged again.
“Well what do you know, Ethan?!” You suddenly yelled. Your eyes flashed red for a quick second, alarming Ethan.
A few of the students turned around and stared, skeptically. You apologized, waving a hand to get them to look away.
You let out a heavy sigh. “Sorry.” You apologized to Ethan now. “It’s been… a crazy morning.” You took a small pause. “Look if you’re not gonna give me anything useful, don’t call me. It’s hard enough being around all of you, even worse that I still have to play nice until this is all over.”
“I didn’t know she was gonna kill Boyd.” He whispered.
You looked up at him. “And i’m supposed to believe you? You went there with the intention of killing someone. Derek, specifically.”
He looked away.
“It doesn’t matter if it was Derek or Boyd. You killed one of ours.”
“You killed Ennis.” He argued back.
“He was already dying.” You stated.
There was silence again.
“There’s something else.” He spoke up. “Lydia.. She found out about the missing teacher. She said she heard some kind of chanting.”
“It’s seems like the school has become a hot spot.” You thought to yourself. You leaned back in the chair. You looked down at the table noticing a pice of paper sticking out of Ethan’s book. “What is that?” You reached for it.
You slipped the paper out. It was a flyer for a concert at the school tonight.
“Aiden and I were planning on attending.”
“Wouldn’t be a bad idea.”
“Scott and Stiles are still looking for you.” He added.
“So let them look.” You told him. “The best place to hide is plain sight.”
————————🐾————————
Beacon Hills High School - PAC
You stood in a dimly lit corner watching the entrance. Scott, Stiles arrived with Erica. Isaac came with Alison and her dad. Lydia came in alone. You were half expecting Derek and Cora but they never showed.
Good, you thought to yourself. They should be staying away and out of trouble.
Aiden left yours and Ethan’s side as soon as he spotted Lydia. He’s been waiting for an excuse to get away from you.
“So what do we do?” Ethan asked you.
“Once the concert starts, just guard the entrance and Aiden can guard the one leading in from the hallway. Make sure nobody leaves. I’ll take a walk around the school, see if I can find anything suspicious.”
“Alone?”
“Yes alone.” You confirmed. “I want to talk to Lydia, as well. But Aiden,” you nodded in their direction.
Lydia didn’t seem too interested in talking to him. But approaching her with the others around would’ve called their attention in a second.
The light turned down and surprisingly the teacher from the boiler room stood on the stage. She began her speech and your phone vibrated in your pocket.
You pulled out your phone and stared at the screen.
“Who is it?”
“It’s Derek.” You waited for the call to end. ”It’s probably nothing.” You shrugged.
Even if it was, you wished you would’ve just answered it to hear his voice. You really did miss him. Then a voicemail notification. “I’m just gonna step outside. Don’t go anywhere.”
You left the building, just far enough but still close that you could rush in if needed. Your finger hovered over the button to listen to the voicemail. He hasn’t reached out since the night you left.  Something was definitely wrong. But was he willing to admit it..or blame you.
“Hey, uh, it’s me. Derek.” he sounded worried. “I never apologized... I don’t have any excuses, and you don’t have to forgive me but..” silence, “I’m not calling about me. It’s Cora. She’s sick and I don’t know what’s wrong with her.” He let out a deep sigh. You could tell he wanted to say something else but he was holding back. “She asked for you. You don’t have to come see her but.. It - it would mean a lot to her. She misses you. We’re at the hospital.” A pause. You could hear him hesitate to say something else but instead he simply hung up.
“Derek,” you sighed. You wanted to go see them but you knew where you needed to be. And that was here. “Shit.” you clenched the phone in your hand in frustration. You couldn’t.
You shoved the phone back in your pocket and began walking back towards the building. Someone in the hallway caught your eye. The silhouette of the person was too small to be Aiden.
They rounded the corner of the hallway and you quickly followed. The familiar scent got caught in your nostrils. It was Lydia.
You continued following her as she mindlessly walked further down the hallway.
“Lydia.” You called to her. She stopped outside a classroom but didn’t turn around to look at you. “Lydia.” You placed a hand on her shoulder as you reached her.
She slowly turned to look at you, slightly frightened. “Did you hear that?”
“What?”
“You cant hear it?” She asked desperately.
“Lydia, I have no idea..” You were cut off by a sharp pain in your back. Lydia screamed as she was thrown inside the classroom.
“So this is the big bad Ultima..all grown up.“ she chuckled in your ear. “This strain of wolfsbane works a lot faster, so don’t be surprised if you can’t fight back. I guess I should be thanking you for getting rid of the other alphas..” she twisted the knife in your back as she led you inside the classroom.
“But now you made yourself a threat.” She removed the knife from your back, causing you to gasp in pain. She quickly turned you to face her and stabbed you again in your abdomen. “And all for a monster.”
“You’re kidding, right?” You coughed out blood. “You killed innocent people.” Your breathing was getting heavier as your body’s ability to heal itself was weakening by the second.
Jennifer smiles. “What I’m doing is a necessary evil. An offering to a deity, a sacred rite. You think you know the alphas like I do but you don’t. You have no idea what Deucalion took from me.” She tilted her head and continued, “But then again you do, don’t you?”
You didn’t mean to but you did. You laughed. Then laughed some more. It was a bitter, spiteful laugh. “You’re doing all this because of a woman?!” Jennifer didn’t seem to like that and gripped the handle of the dagger tighter and twisted slightly causing you groan out in pain.
“No, I am doing all of this for me!” Another twist. “But you’re not a sacrifice, Y/N. I just can’t let you be the one to stop me.” Another twist and she pushed the dagger in deeper. “I just wish Kali had the chance to see me before you killed her.”
You mustered out a whimper in pain as she forced the dagger deeper into your body. “I didn’t kill her.” You grunted, “not yet.”
Jennifer smiled to herself, “you won’t be the one to kill her. Not anymore.
But for now, I have other unfinished business.” She looked down at the floor where Lydia laid. You noticed and shook your head.
“Leave her alone.” You warned her.
Your threat fell upon deaf ears as Jennifer tossed you to the side and forced Lydia to her feet. “You have no idea, do you?” Lydia whimpered as Jennifer forced her in a chair and began binding her wrists and ankles to it.
You gasped for air and watched helplessly. Jennifer grabbed the garot and wrapped in around Lydia’s neck.
“You’re not the only one getting in my way, Y/N. I just wonder,” she slowly, tauntingly tightened the garot, “how someone, so plain and… normal could know what you know, Lydia.”
“I don’t.. i don’t know anything.”
“I’m not taking any chances.” Before Jennifer Can tighten the garot further, Lydia let out a loud shrieking scream.
Jennifer stepped back surprised. “A banshee.” She smiled. “The weeping woman. How interesting.”
While Jennifer was distracted with Lydia, you had gathered any remaining strength you had left to get in your feet and stab her with her own dagger.
Rushing footsteps echoed in the hallway and not a moment later Erica and Isaac appeared. Erica rushed Jennifer and Isaac immediately went to your aid.
“Forget about me.” You waved him away. “Get Lydia out of here.”
Isaac looked at her, then at Erica and Jennifer. “You’re not healing. I have to get you help first.”
“It’s wolfsbane.” You panted. “Just get Lydia untied first.” You ordered. He reached behind him for the chair Lydia was tied to and dragged it back. He easily cut off the binds with his claw.
“Ok.” He lifted you up, grabbing your waist and placing one of your arms over his shoulder. “Lydia run.”
You heard a loud thud and looked up. Jennifer easily knocked Erica out cold. Jennifer looked at the three of you, a small smirk playing on her lips and she slowly walked towards all of you. Lydia finally ran towards the door but Jennifer sent the desk sliding and slammed it shut before Lydia could make it out.
“Stay away from them!” You forced yourself to ignore the pain and charged at Jennifer.
Jennifer laughed and easily used her powers to send you flying towards the wall behind her. “Maybe I should hit Deucalion where it really hurts.” She stalked towards you. She grabbed a fistful of your hair and forced you up. “Dump your body where he could find it. Maybe then and only then will he realize what it feels like to lose everything.” She grabbed your throat and began to choke you. “He will finally feel my pain.”
You were too weak to fight back. You looked back at Isaac who was ready to help you.
“No.” You mustered out. “Leave.”
A shot rang out and Jennifer stumbled back, letting go of you. Isaac grabbed Erica and Lydia and forced them behind him to protect them.
“There was a girl.” Sheriff Stilinksi walked out from the other door, his gun raised and pointed at Jennifer. “Years ago, we found her in the woods. Her face and body were slashed apart. That was you wasn’t it?”
He kept his gun pointed at her but still knelt down as he reached you. “You ok?” He asked, still keeping his eyes on her. You didn’t answer. He looked down, your eyes were closed but you were breathing; just barely.
“Maybe I should’ve started with philosophers. Started with knowledge and strategy.” She began walking towards Stilinksi and he shot her in the thigh to slow her down but she quickly healed from it. “Healers, warriors, guardians.” She knocked the gun out of Stilinski’s hand and grabbed him by the throat. “Virgins.”
Scott and Stiles showed up just in time to see Jennifer and Sheriff Stilinksi together. There was another shriek and the two of them were out the window.
“Dad?!” Stiles yelled out rushing towards the window.
————————🐾————————
Scott and Erica helped drag you out of the classroom and to to the locker rooms while Isaac left to find Chris Argent. Apparently another teacher had died during the recital and the paramedics were on their way.
“Where the hell are they?” Erica was getting frustrated. She wiped the sweat off your forehead and looked to Scott. “She’s getting worse. We have to take her to a hospital.”
“They can’t do anything. Only Argent knows.” Scott reminded her.
“Scott.” You wheezed. You reached into your other pocket, grabbing the vile of mistletoe. “You need to go to Derek. Tell him.. tell him about Jennifer. The mistletoe will reveal her true form.”
“Why would she go to Derek?”
“I dont..” You coughed out black goo, “I don’t know. But she knows. Just go.”
Stiles arrived shortly with the Argents and Isaac. “Where did she take him? Where’d she take my dad?”
“Stiles.”
“No, Scott. I mean why’d she take him?” He was visibly distraught.
Scott got up to comfort his best friend. “I don’t know. But we’ll find him. We need to go to Derek. He’ll help us.”
Stiles looked at his best friend. “He’s all I have, Scott.”
“I know.” He turned his best friend towards the exit and they both left.
Argent interrupts the betas to lay you down. “What strain of wolfsbane was it?” He asked you. But you could only shake your head in response.
“This is the dagger she used.” Érica pulled it out of her jacket and handed it to Chris. He examined it thoroughly and shook his head.
“Most of it is already in her system. We’ll need to heat this to get what the torch can’t reach. We can’t do it here. Someone could hear-”
“No.” You shook your head. “We don’t have time.” You groaned in pain. “She took Stilinski and I have to get to Derek.” Chris looked at you and glanced at each of the teenagers. “Chris, please.”
“Alright.” he nodded. “You two,” he pointed at Isaac and Allison, “pin her legs down.” They each grabbed one of your legs and pinned them down. “Erica grab a towel. We need to muffle her screams.”
“Is she ok?” Ethan appeared in the entry of the locker rooms.
“She’s poisoned with wolfesbane. Get in here.” Argent told him. At that point he didn’t care about friends or enemies, he needed all the hands he could get.
Ethan came in and pinned your arms above your head, leaving Argent without a task. Erica shoved the rolled up towel in your mouth and Argent grabbed his torch from his pocket. He began heating up the dagger.
“Is this even safe?” Isaac asked. He watched the dagger go from silver to a concerning glowing red.
“No, but she’ll heal.” He lifted up your shirt to reveal your wounds. He looked away, almost grossed out. The wound was black and there was a thick substance inside, followed by black looking veins spreading out from it.
“Here we go. Hold her down good.” Soon as the dagger made contact with your insides, a muffled roar escaped your mouth. Your body jolted up but Ethan was fast and strong enough to pin you back down.
The pain was unbearable, you ended up passing out somewhere halfway.

Olivia slipped into the abandoned train station, clutching a coffee and the large file she put together to her chest. Making her way through the turnstiles, past the waiting area, and onto the platform, she stumbled her way down to the stairs that would lead her to the car that Derek and Isaac shared. It didn't surprise her when Derek slipped out of before she could enter, shrugging on a shirt with fluffy morning hair.
"What are you doing here so early, Ollie?" he yawned.
"I found something. Here," she handed him the coffee.
Derek quickly downed a large gulp, not even grimacing from the scalding liquid. "What'd you find?"
"Information," Olivia wandered over to the dirty table they kept and sat down, opening the file. "I spent the last week researching and putting together a timeline of all these abilities. "
"From when Peter bit you," Derek nodded, taking the seat across from her.
"Yeah, they first showed up when Lydia escaped from the hospital," Olivia pulled out her timeline and pushed it over to him. "and then again on the day of Isaac's first full moon, when Erica knocked out Stiles, when the kanima trapped you two in the pool..."
Derek read through the instances she could remember. "And these were all the times your eyes turned purple?"
Olivia nodded. "Every single time, someone I cared about was in danger."
"Your pack," Derek stated. "Not just your actual pack but the people you consider pack, too, like Jackson and Lydia."
"Exactly," Olivia confirmed. "And Stiles had told me that there were a few supernatural creatures with purples eyes. There were a couple of options; fairies, pixies, anchorams, and dragons."
"I think it's safe to say you're not a dragon."
Olivia smiled weakly. "So, I looked at the other options. Fairies and pixies didn't fit any of the abilities I've been having, so I narrowed it down to anchorams."
"Anchorams," Derek hummed thoughtfully. "Did you get anything on them?"
Olivia shook her head. "There wasn't a lot on the internet, so I looked in the Argent's bestiary."
"What'd you find?"
Olivia pulled out the pages she had Lydia help her translate. There wasn't a lot in the Argent bestiary, either, but there was enough to get a reading on what she actually was.
"Anchorams, otherwise known as anchors, are caretakers of the pack," she read. "A sub-species of werewolf, the anchor knows when a member of their pack is in danger or injured. If the anchor is powerful enough, they will fall into a fugue state and find the pack member in distress."
"Anchorams' eyes glow purple when their powers are being used," she continued. "The most helpful of an anchors' powers are their ability to calm werewolves with their touch or voice."
Olivia set down the paper and looked back at Derek for a reaction. His expression was blank but his there was a hint of emotion in his eyes that she couldn't quite make out. The longer he didn't respond, the more anxious she got. She knew Derek would accept her, because he had already done so despite the fact that she didn't turn into a werewolf, but it was still nerve-wracking.
Despite the fact that it took her months to figure out what she was, she was so relieved now that she actually knew. The stress of not knowing was weighing her down and it kind of felt like she could breathe again. Now that she knew what she was, she could train and use her abilities to help Derek, her pack, and her friends.
"It makes sense," Derek said finally.
Olivia raised her eyebrows. "It does?"
"Yeah," he nodded. "Ollie, on Isaac's first full moon, you almost completely calmed him down before I stepped in. From what he said, you did it when he broke into Scott's house as well."
Olivia cocked her head thoughtfully. "I guess..."
"And you were doing it before you were even bitten," Derek pointed out. "When Scott had first changed, your voice would calm him down a little. When Cora—when you and Cora were kids, she was always much calmer with you by her side."
"So, I've been this my entire life," Olivia bit the inside of her cheek. "and Peter biting me, what, accelerated my powers?"
"Yeah, I guess so," Derek confirmed. "but this is good news, Ollie."
"Why?"
"Because now that we know what you are, we can train you."
Olivia pressed her lips together and nodded. She was thinking the same thing and it was nice to know that Derek would have her back. The Hale family was mostly gone but at least Olivia and Derek had each other.
Olivia and Derek went through the rest of the research she had, even though most of it was irrelevant, through the rest of the morning. Isaac woke up an hour after she arrived and Boyd and Erica arrived an hour after that so the pack could go over the plan for the full moon that night.
Originally, Olivia hadn't been part of the plan for the full moon for her safety and the fact that it was Lydia's seventeenth birthday. Now, the plans had changed; Olivia would spend an hour or two at Lydia's party and then come back to the train station to help with Isaac, Erica, and Boyd.
Now that they knew she had abilities to calm the new betas down during their transitions, they knew that had to take advantage of that.
Derek pulled out a trunk with the triskele branded on the front, opening the hatch to reveal numerous lengths of chain.
"What is that?" Isaac pointed at the triskele.
"It's a triskele," Olivia told him. "Spirals can mean different things—past, present, future. Mother, father, child."
"For Hales, it means something different," Derek added. "What do you think it is?"
"Alpha, beta, omega?" Boyd spoke up.
Derek nodded at him. "That's right. It's a spiral," he started to explain further. "It reminds us that we can all rise to one or fall to another."
"Betas can become alphas but alphas can also fall to betas or even omegas," Olivia stated.
"Like Scott?" Isaac wondered.
Derek shook his head. "Scott's with us."
"Really?" Isaac looked around as though he was searching for Scott. "Then where is he now?"
Olivia rolled her eyes at the hostility Isaac was showing. It was like he was feeling threatened now that Scott had joined the pack to take down Jackson.
"He's looking for Jackson," Derek informed him. "Don't worry, he's not gonna have it easy tonight, either. None of us will. There's a price you pay for this kind of power; you get the ability to heal but tonight, you're gonna want to kill anything you can find."
"Good thing I had my period last week, then," Erica commented with pursed lips; Olivia sent her an amused grin.
Derek shook his head and picked up a metal band that fit around the head with numerous nails that could be adjusted. He walked over to Erica and presented it to her. "Well, this one is for you."
Olivia grimaced, not envying Erica at all.

Stiles stared down at the yearbook in front of him, his eyes narrowing at the picture of Kara Simmons, the rave promotor that Jackson had killed. She didn't fit the pattern of the rest of the victims; sure, she was twenty-four and had been in the same graduating class but she hadn't been part of Harris' class that the rest of the victims shared. It was infuriating that he couldn't figure out why Kara had been killed.
He wanted this kanima bullshit to be done already. Too many people were getting hurt and the pack was still floundering on how to stop Jackson without killing him dead.
"Hey, whatcha doing?" Noah came up to his door while he was flipping to the next page.
"Homework."
As Noah walked away Stiles went onto the next page of the yearbook, finding nothing that was useful.
"It's spring break," Noah was back; he entered Stiles' room and sighed when he saw the yearbook on his desk. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Oh, I'm just satisfying my own curiosity," Stiles said nonchalantly. He went to turn another page but his dad reached over and closed the yearbook.
"We brought Harris in this morning for questioning," he informed Stiles before correcting himself. "They brought him in."
Stiles eagerly turned to Noah. "And?"
"And they're working on a warrant to arrest him for the murders."
"For all of them?"
"Enough of them."
Stiles raised his eyebrows. "With what proof?"
"You remember the couple at the trailer?" Stiles nodded at Noah's question. "Tire tracks nearby match Harris' car."
"W-What?" Stiles shook his head and opened the yearbook back up. "That's not enough."
Noah closed the yearbook again. "The same car was also seen outside the hospital where the pregnant wife was killed," he sighed. "It's got some bumper sticker on it, a quote from Einstein?"
Well, that rang a bell.
"What quote?" Stiles wondered.
"Something about imagination and knowledge."
Okay, so Harris' car was at the rave, too, then. "Imagination is more important than knowledge," he quoted with a nod. "Yeah, I saw the same car parked outside the rave."
"That means you're a witness," Noah pointed out. "You're gonna have to give a statement."
Stiles couldn't spend time on that. There were more important things. "But what about the concert promoter, Kara?" he asked, thinking of the break in the similarity of victims. "She wasn't in Harris' class, right? I mean, what does Mr. Lahey have to do with Harris?"
"It doesn't matter," Noah stressed. "The tire tracks put Harris at the site of three murders. That's damning evidence."
Stiles shook his head firmly, opening the yearbook once again. "No, that's not enough."
Noah sighed and let him look through the book. "I thought you hated this guy."
"I don't hate him, all right? He hates me," Stiles corrected him as he continued to look through the book. "And, you know, if he killed them all, then yeah, lock the psycho up but there's something missing."
"Hey. Hey," Noah grabbed Stiles' attention. "You don't have to solve this for me."
"I have to do something," Stiles sighed; he couldn't just wait around and not be useful. Since he couldn't do the same stuff as Scott and Derek, then he could do this. He looked back up to his dad and saw that Noah was staring down at the yearbook with narrowed eyes. "What?"
"Look at the swim team."
Stiles looked down at the page, his eyes going straight to the team picture. All of the victims; the mechanic, Argent's hunter, the rave promoter, and the couple were all squished together to smile at the camera. And then, at the bottom of the page, was a picture of Mr. Lahey.
"Dad, the coach," Stiles pointed out quickly. "It's Isaac's dad."

Olivia went through the numerous dresses that Lydia had bought for her party. They were all very cute and all something that both she and Lydia would wear. It didn't surprise her that her cousin went overboard, too, since there were at least five dresses.
"So," she turned to Lydia with a smile. "which one is your host dress?"
Lydia grinned and picked out the bodycon dress with black and gray stripes. "This one," she set it down and picked up a dark blue dress. "and this will be the evening dress."
"What, no after-hours casual?" Olivia joked, earning a laugh from Lydia. "Did you talk to Jackson?"
Despite the fact that Lydia knew that Jackson was the kanima, she still wanted him at her birthday party. Lydia had gone to the school after lacrosse practice was finishing up and had spoken to Jackson personally to make sure he was still going.
"Yeah," Lydia confirmed. "and he was acting weird."
Olivia furrowed her eyebrows. "Weird, how?"
"Like how you told me he was at the rave," Lydia sighed; Olivia nodded worriedly. "Anyway, I touched his arm for a second and he seemed to snap out of it."
"Did he?"
Lydia nodded. "And he told me that I didn't want him at my party," she hesitated for a second. "Liv, do you think he knows what's going on with him and he was warning me or something?"
"Maybe," Olivia crossed her arms over her chest, frowning. "As much as I want to say that it's good that he knows what's going on, now, I don't think it's better for him."
"Because now he knows he's being controlled," Lydia supplied, thinking along the same lines as Olivia. "and there's nothing he can do to stop it, either."
Olivia bit the inside of her cheek; she hated this whole thing. People were dead because of whoever was controlling Jackson and Jackson had no way to stop it. Despite the fact that Jackson was a dick, he didn't want to kill people. Now, all that blood was on his hands even though it wasn't really his fault. It had to be heartbreaking for him. He didn't deserve to be someone's murderous slave.
"Damn it," Lydia sighed, tears welling up in her eyes.
"It's gonna be okay, Lyds," Olivia tried to assure her; she didn't feel confident, though. "We're gonna find whoever is controlling Jackson and we're gonna stop him."
Lydia gave her a sad smile. "I hope so," she sniffed two times before perking up, changing the subject. "So, I got you a romper since you'll be going to help Derek and his pack."
"Are you sure you're okay with that?" Olivia asked Lydia as she grabbed one of the Macy's bags and pulled out a black romper that was actually really cute. "I can stay, if you want me to."
Lydia paused as she rearranged the romper on her bed and gave Olivia a stern look. "Liv, you have the power to help Isaac, Erica, and Boyd," she reminded her. "I would be the world's biggest bitch if I told you I didn't want you to go."
"No, you wouldn't," Olivia disagreed.
"Uh-huh," Lydia rolled her eyes. "Now, I want you to try this on before we start setting up."
Olivia shook her head in amusement, grabbing the romper and heading to the bathroom she shared with Lydia.
Hours later, Lydia party was set up. Olivia had been in charge of the decorations and music, making sure everything was set up to Lydia's standards, while Lydia was in charge of the food and drinks. The food was simple finger foods that Natalie ordered from a caterer before she slipped away from the house to give them space, while the punch was a recipe that Lydia saw on Pinterest.
A couple of people had arrived already, including Allison and Scott, but there wasn't as many people as there usually was at one of Lydia's parties. It was positively bare compared to what Olivia was used to and she could tell that it was bringing Lydia down.
While Lydia was making sure there was enough punch poured for the partygoers, Olivia was assigned the front door. Fifteen minutes after the party started, the doorbell rang once again. When she opened the door, she came face-to-face with Stiles, who was holding a huge box in his arms.
"Hey!" he greeted her enthusiastically, shaking the present.
"What on Earth," Olivia's eyes trailed over the box, which was wider than he was. "What did you even get her?"
"A teddy bear," Stiles answered simply. "Okay, I'm coming in."
Stiles didn't get very far. The present was too wide for the door frame, which meant that he couldn't get it in right away. Olivia watched him with a smile as he struggled for a few seconds, trying to forcefully push the box through the door.
What a dork, she thought to herself fondly.
"You know you can just flip it around, right?" she pointed out, gesturing so it seemed like she was flipping the box vertically.
Stiles stopped struggling and gave her an annoyed look. "You couldn't have said anything earlier?"
"I figured you knew!" Olivia grinned.
Stiles rolled his eyes fondly. "You're so mean to me," he flipped the present like Olivia said and easily walked through the door. "but you're beautiful so I don't mind."
Olivia's heart fluttered but she didn't respond to his comment. "The present can go there," she pointed at the present table, where only four packages laid. "and Lydia made the punch so make sure you get some of that."
"Will do," Stiles nodded, setting the present down at the table. "Is Scott here?"
"Yeah," Olivia confirmed. "and so is Allison but they're on separate sides of the backyard."
"Right," Stiles clicked his tongue. "So, is Jackson here yet?"
"Not yet. Why?"
"Well, I found something out while I was going through the 2006 yearbook," Stiles told her. "All the victims were on the swim team and Mr. Lahey was the coach."
Olivia looked at him in surprise as they started heading toward the backyard. "Are you serious?" Stiles nodded. "Okay, so this all has to do with water, then, right?"
"That's what I think," Stiles agreed. "Remember the way the kanima reacted to water?"
Olivia nodded. "So, whoever's controlling the kanima hates the 2006 swim team."
"Yep and I thought that it may be another teacher but what if we're missing something?"
They stepped out into the backyard, where the party of five was taking place. Lydia was still waiting by punch table on one side of the pool, while two random people were dancing by the stereo, and Allison and Scott were talking quietly with each other.
"I'll guess we'll have to figure it out," Olivia put a comforting hand on Stiles' arm for only a second but it seemed to relax him.
Allison and Scott approached them, each with their own hesitant smiles. Olivia guessed that there was still some awkwardness between them from their fight at the rave the previous week.
"Uh, Jackson's not here," Allison pointed out needlessly.
"Yeah," Stiles' eyes flittered over the empty backyard. "No one's here."
"Maybe it's just early," Scott offered weakly.
Olivia shook her head. "The party started almost twenty minutes ago."
"Nobody's coming because Lydia turned into the town whack job," Stiles commented before backtracking when Olivia frowned at him. "Uh, I mean...yeah, it's pretty early."
Olivia rolled her eyes while Allison spoke up. "Well, we have to do something," she declared. "because we've completely ignored her for the past two weeks."
That's true, Olivia thought to herself, Scott, Stiles, and Allison hadn't really talked to Lydia since Derek tried to kill her.
"She's completely ignored me and Stiles for the past ten years," Scott shrugged, unbothered. "We don't owe her a party."
"Okay, well, she wouldn't be the town whack job if it wasn't for all of us," Olivia pointed out; Peter had bitten Lydia and the rest of them had lied to her about what was going on. "So, if we could please do something."
Scott sighed and looked over at Lydia, who looked uncomfortable with the lack of people. "I guess I could use my co-captain statue to get the lacrosse team here."
"Yeah, I also know some people who can get this thing going," Stiles pulled his phone from his jeans. "Like, really going."
Allison frowned at him. "Who?"
"I met them at the gay club when Jackson was trying to kill Danny," Stiles informed them. "Let's just say they know how to party."
The people who Stiles met at the gay club were drag queens and they were some of the nicest people that Olivia had ever met. With them and the lacrosse team and their girlfriends showing up, the party was actually exciting.
Olivia played her part as co-hostess and answered the door to let everyone in but when the doorbell stopped ringing, she allowed herself to join the party. She didn't usually like parties but it was Lydia's birthday and she wanted to have fun before she had to go deal with out-of-control baby werewolves.
She hung out with Lydia for a while, pointing out the people that Stiles invited because her cousin had no idea who they were, listening to the music that pumped through their backyard, and eating cake. Eventually, Lydia went off to pass out some more punch and Olivia went to find Stiles.
Olivia didn't like dancing in public but the last time she did, she was with Stiles and she had a lot of fun. And she had romantic feelings for Stiles now, so she didn't see a point in hiding them forever. Stiles had told her that he had feelings for her long before she realized her own and they had just shared a kiss—even if it was an absentminded one.
"Hi," she approached him with a smile; he lit up when she stopped in front of him. "Are you having fun?"
"Yeah!" Stiles nodded jerkily, sipping on his punch. "What about you?"
Usually Olivia would play it cool; she'd be casual as she answered him and she wouldn't let on that she was enjoying his company. Not this time. "Do you wanna dance?"
Stiles raised his eyebrows in surprise. "You want to dance?" she nodded. "Are you feeling okay, Livvy? I mean, I practically had to drag you out onto the dance floor last time."
"Yeah, well," she shrugged with a small smile. "I like dancing with you."
Stiles' jaw dropped for a second but it was like Olivia's words gave him a boost of confidence. He quickly set his punch down on the nearest table and firmly grabbed Olivia's hand, twirling her around before pulling her into his arms.
"Wow," Olivia breathed, surprised, as his hands drifted down to her hips while they swayed to the music. "and here I was thinking that we'd be doing the chicken dance again."
"The chicken dance is fun but I like this, too," Stiles grinned at her. "You look amazing, by the way."
"Thanks," Olivia squeezed his biceps. "I like when you wear green."
"You do?!"
"Yeah," she assured him, her smile widening. "but I like blue on you the best."
"Oh," Stiles perked up excitedly. "Well, that's good because my favorite color is blue."
"Really?" Olivia asked in surprise; she would have thought it was red or something. "Why?"
Stiles stared into her cobalt-blue eyes. "Blue is pretty."
Olivia's heart melted right then and there.

Olivia shifted uneasily on her feet from where she stood next to Isaac, watching as Derek chained Boyd and Erica up in the back of the train car. All three of the newbie betas were uneasy as the full moon got closer but it was really a struggle for Erica and Boyd. It was their first full moon, so they all were expecting them to act out of control tonight. Isaac would have a better chance but from how tense he was, he was in for a rough night, too.
This full moon felt different than the last for Olivia, too. She didn't know if it was because she was actually aware of the powers she held this time but she could feel the moon starting to affect her. Not in the way that it did for werewolves, it was like the exact opposite. She felt more in control than ever, like her body knew that she had a purpose and she would be fulfilling it tonight while helping Erica, Boyd, and Isaac stay in control.
"What if we break free?" Boyd asked as Derek finished chaining him up.
"Then you'll do anything you can to get out of here," Derek answered him. "You'd probably try to kill me and Olivia, then each other, and anything else with a heartbeat."
"Hopefully I'll be able to help you with your control so that doesn't happen," Olivia gave him a small, reassuring smile; Boyd returned her smile with a trusting nod.
Derek moved onto to the chains restraining Erica. He quickly made sure they were going to hold her before picking up the headband he had showed her that morning. He looked to Isaac and Olivia and nodded back at Erica, "I need you guys to hold her."
Isaac immediately took Erica's arms behind her back while Olivia laid both of her hands on her shoulders. "So," Isaac wondered. "how come she gets to wear the headband thing?"
"Because she'll be able to withstand more pain than the two of you," Derek set the metal headband on top of Erica's head and slipped it down, making sure it was over her forehead. "I've got an extra one if you really want it."
Olivia grimaced and looked over at Isaac, who quickly shook his head. "I'll pass."
Derek looked to Erica. "You ready?"
"Yeah."
As a pack, they all took a deep breath together. Derek started twisting the prong into the skin of Erica's forehead; Erica screamed loudly, fighting against Isaac's hold on her. Olivia held onto her shoulders as tight as she could, but even she felt unsettled with the slight tingling in the same spot on her forehead.
It was hard for everyone to hear Erica's painful screams. At first, it was just the prongs of the headband causing them but then the moon came out and it was all part of her transition. Boyd soon joined her, grunting and groaning while trying to break free of the restraints holding him.
Olivia restrained Isaac while Derek watched over Boyd and Erica. As soon as she was done, they'd switch places and Olivia would take a crack at trying to be an anchor for them.
"How doesn't Derek feel this?" Isaac murmured as she clasped a handcuff around his wrist and tightened the one holding him to the seat.
"I'm sure he feels every second of it," Olivia looked up at him. "He's had more practice, though."
"That's how he controls it?"
"He has an anchor. It's something meaningful to you. You can bind yourself to it and keep your human side in control," Olivia straightened to her full height and glanced briefly at her cousin as he spoke with his betas. "For Derek, it's anger, but it doesn't have to be for everybody."
"Like Scott?"
"Yeah," she confirmed, knowing that Allison was Scott's anchor. "but listen, if you can't find an anchor tonight, don't worry about it. We can work on it," she placed a hand on his shoulder and he visibly relaxed. "It's why I'm here."
Isaac nodded quietly. Erica screamed again, catching Olivia's attention. "Tell me if you need help," she told Isaac before making her way back to Erica and Boyd. "All right, let's do this."

-
Stiles was officially bored of Lydia's party. The party itself was still hopping, with dozens and dozens of people drinking Lydia's spiked punch, dancing, talking to their friends, and swimming in the large pool. It was fun but not for Stiles.
He was almost positive it was because Olivia had split a half-hour before. Their dancing had been interrupted by birthday cake and after Lydia blew out the candles, Olivia told him she had to leave to help Derek with Isaac, Erica, and Boyd. He didn't know exactly how she was supposed to help keep three new betas in control but it figured it had something to do with the way her eyes turned purple on the last full moon.
So, now he was stuck next to a stubborn-ass Scott, who kept on sending Allison puppy-dog eyes without realizing it.
"Are you gonna apologize to Allison or what?" he asked his best friend, taking a sip of punch from his plastic cup.
Scott gave him a confused look. "Why should I apologize?"
"Because you're the guy. It's, like, what we do."
"But I didn't do anything wrong."
"Then you should definitely apologize," Stiles glanced back at Allison, where she was chatting with Lydia, and then back to Scott. "See, any time a guy thinks he hasn't done anything wrong, it means he's definitely done something wrong."
Scott thought about that for a moment before insisting, "I'm not apologizing."
Stiles pressed his lips together and gave him a knowing look. "Is that the full moon talking, buddy?"
"Probably," Scott shrugged. "Why do you care, anyway?"
"Because, Scott, something's gotta go right here. I mean, we're getting our asses royally kicked, if you haven't noticed," Stiles pointed out firmly. "People are dying, I got my dad fired, you're gonna be held back in school and if, on top of all that, I gotta watch you lose Allison to a fucking stalker like Matt, I'm gonna stab myself in the face."
As he finished, he was surprised to realize that there actually was something going right in his life. His relationship with Olivia was progressing every day. It almost made up for everything else going bad—almost.
"Don't stab yourself in the face," Scott was staring across the pool. "Jackson's here."
Scott left him, probably to go talk to Allison or Lydia about Jackson. Stiles drained the rest of his punch and started to follow after him when he paused, hearing his dad's familiar voice.
"Why am I wearing black? What are you, an idiot?" Stiles whipped around to see his dad yelling at one of his classmates, dressed in a suit and holding a bottle of whiskey in his hands. "I just came from a funeral. You know, people wear black at funerals."
Stiles' eyes widened in shock as Noah took a long pull of the whiskey. Why was his dad even here? What funeral was he talking about?
"Dude, chill," the teenager held his hands up.  "I was just—"
Noah roughly shoved him away. "Get out of my face."
He took another drink from the bottle and turned to Stiles, glaring at him with hateful eyes. "It's you. It's all you," he held the whiskey bottle up like he was making a toast. "You know, every day I saw her lying in that hospital slowly dying..."
This is about Mom, Stiles realized, his eyes stinging.
"I thought, how the hell am I supposed to raise this stupid kid on my own? This hyperactive little bastard who keeps running my life?" Noah pointed at his son, disgusted. "It's all you. It's you, Stiles. You killed your mother, you hear me? You killed her and now you're killing me!"
Stiles didn't say anything, he didn't move. How was he supposed to react when his dad was saying everything that he blamed himself for? His mom had died and he just stood and watched. He didn't do anything as the life left her eyes.
He flinched away as Noah threw the half-empty bottle at him, the glass crashing against the column he had been standing by. When he looked back at the area his dad had been standing, he was gone.
And then he was submerged in cold water.
Stiles inhaled deeply as he was lifted out of the pool, icy water dripping from his short hair down the back of his neck. He blinked rapidly and coughed, his eyes darting from Scott, who was in front of him, to one of their classmates. It was Danielle, who was known to be quite the character.
"What the fuck?" he spluttered.
"How do you feel?" Danielle asked simply.
"Like I might have to revisit my policy on hitting a girl," he glared at her.
Danielle sniffed, looking at Scott. "He's sober."
"Yeah, thanks, Danielle," Stiles rolled his eyes and got to his feet.
All around him, people were going crazy. There was some girl making out with a plant, two dudes were fighting over the last pig-in-a-blanket, and he had obviously had a hallucination about his dad because why the hell else would Noah even be at Lydia's party?
He turned to Scott. "What the hell is going on?"
When Scott had informed him that Lydia was no longer at the party, they both split up to look for her. While Scott took the inside of the house, where more people were freaking out, Stiles looked outside. There was no sign of Lydia, but there was wolfsbane in the punch bowl.
He hurriedly met up with Scott, who hadn't seen Lydia, either.
"Lydia put wolfsbane in the punch," Stiles informed Scott, trying not to think about how weird the situation was. "Anyone who drank it is freaking out."
Emphasizing Stiles' statement, people started pushing unsuspecting guests into the pool. Some of them enjoyed the little swim they would be privy to. But not Matt Daehler. He didn't know how to swim.
Realization hit Stiles and Scott at the same time. Matt had been in the library when Jackson turned into the kanima, he was the one who owned the camera that had footage of Jackson as a kanima on it. He had been at the rave when Kara was killed. The kanima's master wasn't able to swim and neither could Matt.
And the icing on top of the cake; Jackson—asshole extraordinaire—was the one who helped Matt out of the pool. Their suspicions were confirmed when the police showed up at the party and they tried to confront Matt. He was outside waiting for them, the kanima wrapped protectively around his legs.
Stiles immediately called Olivia, who picked up on the first ring. "Hello? Stiles?"
He could the stress in her voice and fighting in the background. "Matt Daehler's the one controlling Jackson," he told her. "Can you come?"
There was a second where she didn't answer and then, "I'm on my way."

The Teen Wolf Rewrite
I couldn't sleep so . . . Yep The first and second seasons could stay the same as they are except for little things. First of all, the Hales would have survived the fire somehow, Kate would still be involve -EW NO- but Derek and Laura could somehow save their family and pack, Derek would be bitter even though his pack is totally fine because of GUILT and plot and drama and stuff. They are rich and live in a massive wonderful house in the woods because their magic is tied to the land and the trees and the wild.
Tumblr media
But other than that I think almost everything could stay the same, and maybe Peter's mate died of illness that year or some hunters cross them badly or something before and had gone feral ever since. Scott would be more willing to join their pack and Stiles could learn so much about werewolves and the supernatural world while making friends with everyone except for Derek cause he is a jerk.
Tumblr media
Derek could ask his mom and sister about what to do with the Alpha power he got from his uncle to save his sister’s throat. He would train Erica and Boyd and Isaac with his mother watchful eyes so he wouldn't mess anything up otherwise, he would get the help he needs.
Tumblr media
The third season though . . . we could just start from scratch here. Before everything let's say that the Alpha Pack storyline was never that good to me because of so many things: 1. Killing Erica and Boyd. What the hell? No. 2. Deucalion was never that scary anyway . .  3. There is no way in hell Scott could EVER survive against him and the Alpha Pack, let's alone turn into a True Alpha. 4. Poor sweet Stiles doesn't need to deal with the Nogitsune. 5. Derek Hale deserve some kind of happiness somewhere in this universe. 6. Papa Stilinski need a break. 7. Peter Hale stays DEAD. 8. The Alpha Pack doesn’t exist.
There could have been some Hunters Council of some sort -I stopped watching after almost finishing the third season so I don't know if there is anything in the show of what I am gonna say from now on- who would send some of their people to the Argents because of their "friendly relationship" with the Hales and Alison's relationships with Scott and Isaac, and at the same time there could be some witches who wants to take the Hales power of the land because magic and stuff but Stiles somehow stop them saving everyone, including Derek -HUH in your face Sourwolf- discovering that he has magic inside of him. Papa Stilinski knows about werewolves and magic and supernatural and get a headache.
Tumblr media
The Argents would travel to go into trial infornt of the Hunters Council in France for their deal with the Hales and for not killing Peter Hale but they are innocent so they get to go but the Hunters Council doesn't trust them fully now so they send some of their elite hunters with them to observe and report back to the Hunters Council and act as they see fit.
Tumblr media
Stiles can't control his magic, so Talia ask some of her old friends if anyone can help, so Stiles get send away to learn from a powerful mage how to control his magic over the summer break, Scott get sad, Isaac and Erica and Boyd too, but Derek is sadder for some odd reason.
Tumblr media
Laura start bugging Derek for his grumpy mood asking why he is such a Sourwolf and Derek snaps at her and she just smirk and hums away to tell every member of their family about this new development. Scott bonds with Isaac and Erica and Boyd and Derek as they have some peace to do so before some weird daemon come into their home and start sucking people souls so it could be more powerful than even Lucifer and become the King of Hell when he gets back there, and as it start sucking the Hale Pack souls while smirking and laughing manically Stiles shows up and saves everyone with his clan.
Tumblr media
Scott is over the moon that his bestfriend is back, Isaac and Erica and Boyd and everyone is around him saying hi and asking about him, but Derek stay behind, clinching and unclinching his fists as he watches Stiles getting hugged by everyone in his pack, and he smiles a little bit as Stiles smiles at him while he hugs Cora back.
Tumblr media
The hunters who got back with the Argents are just disgusting, Alison hates them for their sexism and anti-wolvesness and badmouthing and everything, but her dad ask her to act as if they don't exists, and to stay away from the Hale Pack for now, which is hard because they are her friends, but she does as he asked.
Tumblr media
The hunters goes out of their ways just to make the wolves snap at them but they hold it, until one day they cross Stiles thinking that he is a wolf because he is in the Hale Pack, but he threaten them of what would the Mage Clans Council do if they find out about the harassment one of their own was having so they back away just a step or two. Talia and Laura goes to the Alpha Annual Gathering in Lebanon -not from the state so I don't really know if this is a city there or not lol- for more than a week in the last week of October and leave everything in Derek's hands . . Cora invites the school to a Halloween party, Derek is so unhappy with her, but he doesn’t stop the party, because the pack looks happy, and Stiles looks happy too.
Tumblr media
A group of friends get to the woods and start fooling around and one of the boys start playing with the Nemeton and a wraith get out accidentally and kill the wohle group. At the party int the Hale's house Stiles feels the uneasiness of the woods and tell Scott and Erica who are near him that he will go and check something out. After a while Derek notice his absence and start tracking his scent with Boys and Cora -because she doesn't get to enjoy the part she started- and go into the wood after the young mage. They find Stiles fighting the wraith which is big and strong after taking the lives of the bodies lying around the Nemeton. Stiles almost dies, Derek lose it and shift to a full wolf and kill the wraith before howling triumphantly at the night sky for saving Stiles.
Tumblr media
Derek makes Cora and the rest of the pack clean the house before his mom and sister comes back and let's Stiles sleep for a couple of days straight -there is nothing straight in this- after all of his magic was almost drained. When his mom and sister comes back though, things get so awkward he wants to die, he tells his mom what happened with the Nemeton and that he has evolved, then she gives him the MATES TALK. AGAIN. He wants to claw his ears off, Laura laugh at him the whole time.
Tumblr media
Stiles looks at Lydia, who is smiling at Cora. He thinks of how much his life have changed since he last THOUGHT of her, which is so weird, but he smiles to himself and walk to class thinking that everything will eventually changes somehow for better or worse.
Tumblr media
The Hunters get restless as they find nothing to the Hales which make them unpleasant to be around and unpredictably dangerous. A mage comes to the Hale house when the whole pack is there, Stiles tries to stand infornt if his dad as he feels the dark magic inside the weird smiling man, he ask for Talia's help, to give his sick dyeing daughter the bite, Talia agrees after a long conversion, the daughter die anyway, the mage looks at them for one second before he unchains his power open them, Stiles pushes his dad away from harm and pounces to shield the Hale house with his magic as Derek roar after him. He hold it until the mage stop, then everything goes black. Talia kills the mage the second he stop whatever mumbo jumbo he was doing then looks at Stiles, who was unsurprisingly in Derek arms, who is snarling at Scott for trying to come too close with blood-red eyes. The sheriff is looking worried and concerned with both his son and the way the young Alpha is behaving. Talia sigh and start talking to her son that everything is fine and that his pack is here to help him, Derek doesn't listen first, but he doesn't snap at Scott when he steps closer afterward. Taila doesn't think Derek would have reacted violently if the sheriff was the one to get closer, but she doesn't want to test her theory. Derek whines anyways as he noses at Stiles’s temple before the sheriff take his son into his arms.
The hunters see it all. They report to the Hunters Council, who ask for a gathering to hunt down the Hale Pack.
Stiles sleep for a whole day. Derek stay with him, even thought he feels awkward by the way the sheriff is staring at him. The sheriff says suddenly to the dark after the night have come “If you hurt him . . “ and Derek doesn’t let him go on. Because he can’t even think of Stiles being hurt without feeling like his heart ache, so he tells the sheriff, and the sheriff just nodes and say “Good to know”. And that is that.
Tumblr media
Stiles finds out about a novel Derek have been writing for a while and freak out, because he loves it, Derek freak out when he knows that it is his novel Stiles have been reading in the living room at the Hale’s house, Stiles hushes him so he can finish the chapter he is reading and then tells Derek all of his feedback on the story, and they talk about the young quite prince who is obviously in love with the snarky stable boy. Then Stiles ask Derek if he is bisexual and hums when the Alpha says yes, and he says demisexual when Derek ask about his sexuality.
The Argents warns the Hale Pack of the hunt. Alison say goodbyes to each one of them before going to France for good with her dad. and the Hale pack start preparing for a war with the hunters if they need to. And they inform the White Wolf in London of what is happening Cora tells Scott that the White Wolf is their royal family like when the beta ask about them, Stiles chock on his own spite while Derek smiles fondly at him as he rub his hand up and down the mage’s back.
Tumblr media
The White Wolf answer back to them and send some of their betas. Derek doesn’t like them, at all, and he makes it perfectly clear to everyone, Stiles snaps at him one night after a meeting when they are alone and demands answers for what the Alpha is doing and Derek keep saying that he doesn’t trust them with his pack and family and Stiles tells him that he didn’t trust him too at the start and Derek shake his head saying “Not the same.” and Stiles doesn’t leave until Derek promise him that he will be such a good boy next time, and he run laughing to his jeep to get away from Derek’s fangs and crimson eyes.
Tumblr media
Derek tries to behave but can’t really hold his grumpiness when one of the betas starts flirting with Stiles, who smiles shyly at the beta without saying anything. Derek storms out of the room and Laura comes after him when he takes so long to come back. She finds him shifting into a full wolf and running all over the place just to get the anger out, she just sits there until he come and put his head on her lap, she pats his head. They sit there quietly.
The hunters comes charging at them when the moon is nothing but a black smudge in the night, and the wolves are at their weakest, but they have Stiles, and the training the White Wolf betas have put them through is paying off in the fight with the hunters. But the lack of moonlight still affect them and Derek gets hurt badly and Stiles tries to help him but magic doesn’t heal lethal wounds, and he start crying holding Derek in his arms as the wolf whisper to him kind words to make the pain gentler, and Stiles feels like his soul is being torn apart. He has everything to lose now.
Tumblr media
Stiles puts his hands on Derek’s chest and let his soul go into the Alpha’s body, searching for the wolf soul, which comes to him slowly and warp itself around Stiles’s soul weakly, Stiles get them both out of the dark and back to their bodies. Derek is unconscious, but the pack is still fighting, so he kisses Derek’s forehead and leave Boyd to protect his Alpha.
Scott, is bleeding, Isaac is thrown away and doesn’t move after, Cora is roaring at a hunter who is holding Laura down, Talia is drowning in blood, Stiles doesn’t know if it is hers or no, and the rest of the Hales is bleeding or almost dyeing. Stiles doesn’t know what to do to help them. He start thinking of something so bad to do so he can help his pack, he think of asking the Nemeton to for help, he almost touch the tree when the wolves start whimpering around him and crouching down hold their heads in their hands and he panic, his friends, his family, his pack is dyeing just before his eyes. And before he can do anything the whimpering stop and a woman come out of the dark with couple of people at her sides and says “Now we can talk.”
Tumblr media
Stiles notice that even the hunters are unmoving, he looks at the woman who smiles at him, and he breathe as relief fill his heart with warm feeling of peace. The Mage Clans Council Head is here to protect them. The Head of the Mage Clans Council start threatening war against the Hunters if they don’t retreat back and leave the Hales and the young mage alone as they were. The hunters are unhappy but they do retreat leaving the Hale Pack broken and in need of so much rest.
The mages help Stiles healing the Hales as much as they can, but the wolves sleep for almost a whole day, except for Derek, who sleep for an entire week. When he wakes up, he finds Stiles sleeping in the chair next to his bed, and his mom smiling at him from behind him. she kisses his head and tell him that she would bring some food. and he hums for an answer. He keeps looking at Stiles for a long time, before the mage start mumbling and then wake up with a scared voice. He looks at Derek with wide eyes for a moment before jumping at him and hugging the shit out of him, Derek holds Stiles back and noses at his neck breathing his scent happily. His mom closes the door after leaving the food on the table nearby.
Tumblr media
Stiles let go of Derek who bites his tongue so he wouldn’t protest the sudden cold on his skin. Stiles start reproaching Derek of how dumb he was and what give him the premonition to get hurt and how dare he almost dies on him and that he can never ever do that to Stiles again, ever. And Derek let his mouth tag on a small smile, so Stiles ask him why he is smiling like an idiot, and Derek just breathe “I love you” whispering it almost, and Stiles’s eyes tears up and say that he take it back take it back take it back because it was always him who say it first in his fantasies, but Derek say no and that Stiles should live with it, and he does.
The pack finds them cuddling later that day.

Chapter 4: Abomination
_____________________—————————————
New day means new lesson. In this case it was a fighting lesson.
Today, Derek set up a couple of obstacles in the way so that his betas could get across them before engaging him in a fight. Since Boyd was still healing from his bite, it was Isaac and Erica’s day.
Boyd watched from the stairs, sitting on the steps with a smile as he watched Isaac make his way through the obstacles before being knocked down immediately by Derek.
“Again.” Derek told Isaac.
Isaac got back up to redo the mini course only to get the same outcome. Over. And over. And over again. Only this last time, Erica jumped from the top of the train car in an effort to surprise him. Derek heard her coming because he dodged her so she fell to the ground next to Isaac. Derek looked down at his betas with disappointment, his lips pressed into a thin line.
“Does anyone wanna try not being completely predictable?” Derek said, irritability lacing his tone.
Accepting his challenge, Erica decided to be unpredictable and jumped on Derek, wrapping her legs around him. She kissed him, letting out a small moan as he kissed her back. Cassidy felt a pang of jealousy hit her when that happened. But almost as fast as it happened, Derek got her off him, sending her back to the ground.
“That's the last time you do that.” Derek told her, wiping his mouth before briefly looking to Cassidy.
“Why? Because I'm a beta?” Erica pouted.
“No--” Both Derek and Cassidy said in unison.
“You’re underage! He’s almost 23!” Cassidy scolded her. She was a fine one to talk. She’s 17 and almost kissed Derek the previous night. Derek lightly nodded in agreement as he rolled his eyes.
“Because I have someone else in mind for you.” Derek said after glaring briefly at Cassidy for interrupting him.
“Are we done? I got about a hundred bones that need a few hours to heal.” Isaac interrupted, wiping the dirt off his hands.
Derek looked down at Isaac with a fake look of concern. Cassidy knew this wasn’t gonna end well. She watched as he squatted down and motioned for his arm.
“Here?” Derek asked before he immediately broke Isaac’s arm causing Boyd, Erica and Cassidy to flinch. “A hundred and one. You think I'm teaching you how to fight? Huh? Look at me!” Isaac looked at Derek pain all over his face as Erica and Boyd watched in fear. “I'm teaching you how to survive!”
Derek let go of Isaac’s arm and stood upright. Isaac sat back up, holding his arm.
“If they wanted us dead why aren't they coming for us now? What are they waiting for?”
“I don't know. But they're planning something. And you, especially, know that's not our only problem. Whatever that thing is that killed Isaac's father, I think it killed someone else last night. Until Cassidy and I find out what it is, you all need to learn everything that we know. As fast as we can teach you.”
Derek went onto the train car leaving Cassidy with the betas. Cassidy sighed and knelt down next to Isaac.
“You mind if I check that?” Cassidy asked Isaac.
“You’re not gonna break it more, are you?” Isaac replied, pain etching his face.
“No.” She offered him a comforting smile. Isaac held out his arm allowing her to feel it out. Biting her bottom lip, she looked back up at him. “I’m gonna have to reset it. It’s gonna hurt.”
“Do it.” Isaac sighed and grit his teeth, preparing himself for the pain.
“On three. Ready? One--” Cassidy counted before quickly resetting his arm back to place as Isaac let out a cry of pain. “Sorry.” Cassidy stood upright and helped Isaac to his feet as Boyd had already helped Erica to hers. “You guys go ahead and take a break. Rest up and I’ll take over in about an hour, okay?”
Cassidy watched as the three betas headed to their ‘rooms’. With a sigh, she walked into the train car where Derek was sitting, deep in thought.
“Don’t you think that was a bit harsh?” Cassidy asked him calmly as she walked over to him.
“They’re not taking it seriously. They don’t get this is a matter of life and death.” Derek vented.
“They understand.” She sat down next to him. “You were a bit too hard on them right now. They all learn at their own paces and yeah, that sucks. But we have to do our best and getting angry all the time won’t help us or make them learn faster.”
Part of Derek hated how calm she was because she was talking some sense. That part wanted her to yell at him for being the way he was. Hell, even if it were for about kissing Erica back.
“Listen, about that thing with Erica--”
“Don’t worry about it. Last night was a heat of the moment thing, right? It’s not like anything happened. “She looked down at her hands. “Plus, what I said about Erica, you know? I’m 17...it wouldn’t be right for us to--”
“Yeah.” Derek agreed, nodding as he followed suit in looking down at his hands.
“Anyway we should be focusing on the Argents and this thing killing people right now.”
“Speaking of. I think I know where to start.”
____________--------------------------------
Later that night, Erica and Boyd’s jobs were to go to the lacrosse game for a while until Derek can question Stiles about what happened at the car garage he was at when the monster struck. Isaac had to remain out of sight so Cassidy decided to stay with him at the station. She was technically on standby in case Derek needed her help.
So Isaac and Cassidy decided to hang out and watch a movie on Cassidy’s laptop. They decided to go full on movie theater with popcorn and soda in the dark to see it better. The two teenagers decided to watch ‘Dumb and Dumber’ as their second movie of the night.
Laughter filled the room as Lloyd Christmas fantasized about fighting a bunch of guys for the heart of his love interest.
“Could you ever see yourself having as elaborate of a fantasy as this?” Cassidy asked Isaac.
“I mean, kinda but I don’t think it would be this crazy.” Isaac replied with a chuckle.
Cassidy took some popcorn from the bowl and ate it as she glanced over secretly at Isaac. It was nice to see him comfortable, smiling and without a care in the world at the moment. He had a really nice smile and she would like to see it more often.
“You still staring?” Isaac looked over at her, a cocky smirk on his face.
Cassidy coughed, choking on a popcorn kernel in surprise. She took a drink from her soda to stop it.
“I wasn’t staring.” She denied, watching the movie.
“Mm hmm. That’s why I caught you watching me out of the corner of your eye.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m flattered. Really.”
Cassidy made eye contact with Isaac...huge mistake because she found herself lost in his blue eyes. She would be lying if she said she didn’t find him endearing from the moment they met. Maybe this was a sign that she could and should spend more time with him.
“Cassidy!” Erica’s voice called out from the distance.
Cassidy got up and went to where she heard Erica’s voice was coming from, Isaac following her.
“The t-thing, it-it’s got Stiles and Derek trapped at the school.” Erica told her as soon as she laid eyes on the alpha, Boyd helping her stand upright.
“Where at the school?” Cassidy asked her.
“The pool. They’re in the water.”
“Okay. Guys? Will you take care of that?” Cassidy motioned at the blood on the side of Erica’s temple.
“Yeah. I guess we’ll have to discuss this more some other time then, huh?” Isaac asked Cassidy as she grabbed her shoes.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She smiled at him before she left.
________--------------------------------------
Cassidy heard the shriek of the creature and followed the sound. It was then she ran into Scott coming out of the principal’s office, startling both teenagers.
“What are you doing here?” Scott asked Cassidy.
“I’m here for Derek and Stiles, what are you doing here?” Cassidy shot back.
“What’s going on with Stiles?”
“They’re trapped in the pool. We have to help them.”
The two werewolves rushed to the pool next to the gym, peeking inside to see the creature walking around the pool, waiting for them to swim to the edge.
“What’s the plan?” Cassidy whispered to Scott.
“One of us can distract the creature while the other gets Stiles and Derek out of the pool.”
“Alright. Here goes nothing.”
Both teenagers shifted and cautiously walked through the door leading to the pool. The creature was hiding it seemed as Stiles swam to get him and Derek to the diving board. Only when they made it, they both began to sink.
Seeing as the creature wasn’t around, both Scott and Cassidy pulled Stiles and Derek out of the pool.
“Cass.” Scott called as the creature showed itself, slinking out of its hiding place.
Both Scott and Cassidy let out a roar to the creature, who advanced on them quickly. The creature tackled Scott off the diving board but the wolf recovered quickly. Scott and Cassidy stared down the creature, waiting to see if it would make a move. Cassidy went to attack it first but just as the creature flipped her over it, its tail grabbed Scott’s ankle, sending him crashing into a mirror and right next to Cassidy on the ground.
Both Scott and Cassidy got up and fast as they could when Scott saw no other choice but to grab a shard of glass he crashed into to use as a weapon. The creature stood there for a moment, Scott noticing the creature seeing its reflection in the glass he held. The creature advanced forward, bypassing Scott and climbed out of the building through the glass roof.
“What the hell was that?” Cassidy asked Scott as they looked over to Stiles and Derek, who watched on, Derek holding himself up on the diving board.
“I don’t know.” Scott answered as he and Cassidy shifted back.
_______----------------------------------------
“You okay?” Cassidy asked Derek quietly a few feet away from Scott and Stiles, who were on a laptop.
“Yeah. I’m getting feeling back.” Derek replied as he flexed his fingers. “Erica--”
“She got out. She and Boyd are back at the safe house with Isaac.”
“I know what it is.”
“What is it?”
“Is that even a language?” Stiles asked irritably as he stared at the laptop, interrupting them.
“How are we supposed to figure out what this thing is?” Scott asked, sharing the same sentiment as Stiles.
“It's called a kanima.” Derek said as he and Cassidy walked over to them.
“You knew the whole time.” Stiles guessed irritably.
“No. Only when it was confused by its own reflection.”
“It doesn't know what it is.” Scott stated his thoughts aloud.
“Or who.”
“What else do you know?” Stiles took his turn.
“Just stories. Rumors.”
“But it's like us?” Scott tried to make sense of it.
“A shape shifter, yes, but it's--it's not right. It's like a--”
“An abomination.” Stiles finished for Derek.
Derek nodded at Stiles before he and Cassidy turned to leave.
“Derek?” Scott called out to them, stopping them. “We need to work together on this. Maybe even tell the Argents.”
“You trust them?” Derek hissed.
“Nobody trusts anyone! That's the problem. While we're here, arguing about who's on what side, there's something scarier, stronger and faster than any of us, and it's killing people and we still don't even know anything about it!”
“I know one thing, when I find it? I'm gonna kill it.”
Derek walked away from the teenagers. Cassidy looked over to Scott and Stiles, sheepishly.
“About this kanima, I agree but I don’t know if we could trust the Argents.” Cassidy told them. “Maybe your girlfriend but the rest? I don’t think so.” Cassidy looked in the direction Derek walked off. She pulled out her phone and gave it to Scott. “Maybe we can work together on this. Just don’t expect me or Derek to have anything to do with the Argents. I can’t stop you if that’s what you choose. If we learn anything, I’ll call you.”
Scott decided to take that as it was because he put his phone number into Cassidy’s phone. He gave his phone to Cassidy so she could do the same.
“If anything, right now, we have to trust each other on this one.” Cassidy added. “At least, I’m willing to. Take care guys. See you tomorrow.”
Cassidy gave Scott his phone back and  walked in the direction Derek went. She found him waiting for her, leaning against his car.
“You know we shouldn’t trust the Argents.” Derek told her.
“I know. But I think we should trust Scott.” Cassidy said, stopping in front of her fellow alpha. “If he wants to deal with the Argents, fine, but he knows I’m only willing to work with him.”
“What about me?”
“Of course.”
“And if I ask you to keep something from Scott?”
“I will. We have to trust each other, right? It’s the only way you and I are gonna make this pack leaders thing work. But if I think it’ll be beneficial to the whole ‘investigation’ thing about the kanima, I will make sure you know how I feel about keeping it from him.”
“I wouldn’t expect anything less.” Derek offered her a nod as he opened the passenger door of his car for Cassidy. “I have an idea of where to start.”
Cassidy waited until Derek got to his side of the car and got in before she asked her next question, “Where?”
“Remember that bite I told you I gave before Isaac?”
“Yeah? That Jackson kid, right?”
“Yup. We start with him. And until we’re sure it’s him, don’t tell Scott.”
“And how exactly do you plan to be sure?”
“Trust me. I got a plan already.”

“You’re living with someone?” It’s the same voice and tone as the one in Stiles’ head, just thirty years older.
Two things keep Stiles from bashing his face onto the table: there’s a steaming cup of coffee in the way and, more importantly, his dad will definitely hear. Someone passes by in front of him and a semi-familiar book cover catches his eye. “Derek Hale,” he muses, and stops. No. That wasn’t meant to be out loud.

Summary:
Since Hogwarts had opened its doors to werewolves, many Hale children had apparently come through, wary and angry, refusing to socialize with the other students. And one by one, they’d been sorted into Slytherin, obviously, with the odd Ravenclaw to mix things up.
And then along came little Derek Hale, who’d barely gotten his ass on the stool before the hat was calling out Gryffindor.
Everyone thought it was funny, even now, when Derek was in his seventh year. Stiles, though, found it fascinating.
It helped, of course, that Derek was two years older and hotter than the sun.

Arranged marriages were a completely bazonkers idea in general, hence their nonexistence in 21st century America, but millenia-ancient magic didn’t care about modern courtship rituals like dating, and this was a time-honored method of getting what he wanted. What Stiles wanted, all he wanted, was to protect his dad. And his pack. And Scott, who despite having abandoned Stiles in high school to join the Hale Pack, was still the best bro he could ever have, so that made for two packs. The point is, if marrying a distant acquaintance can possibly stabilize the entire county and protect basically everyone he cares about, Stiles is gonna do it. And he’s not going to freak out about it. Much. So he talked to Hideyo, Satomi’s emissary and his mentor. Hideyo talked to Satomi. Satomi called Laura. Laura got Deaton, and the five of them met at a taco truck, of all places. It was in neutral territory. And the tacos de carnitas were legendary.

RULE OF THREE CHAPTER INDEX HERE.
Six months later.
  Stiles pushes the door open.
“Oh, fuck it all! Fuck my life, and fuck college, and fuck everything!” He flings his bag dramatically toward the table. It misses, and papers and books go flying everywhere.
“How was your day, dear?” Peter calls out from the kitchen, where he’s making something incredible-smelling for dinner.
“Um.” Stiles notices too late that they have company. “Hello, Talia.”
Talia and Chris are staring at him from where they’re sitting on the couch, documents spread out on the coffee table in front of them. Stiles chooses to interpret their expressions as fond amusement.
“Hello, Stiles,” Talia says, giving him the patented Hale look. The one that judges him. “Bad day?”
“Um.” Stiles shuffles his feet.
Peter breezes out of the kitchen and closes the distance between them. He tugs Stiles close and kisses him. “Stiles is always a cranky little monster on Thursdays. He has a late class, forgets to eat the snacks I pack for him, and his low blood sugar does terrible things to his temperament.”
Stiles flushes. “What Peter said.”
Talia smiles, and gathers up the documents. “Well, Chris and I are finished here, and I’ve got my own dinner to get home to.” She stands. “Will I see you on Sunday?”
It’s Cora’s birthday and everyone is getting together for the day. The Hales, the Argents, the Stilinskis and the hangers-on. Well, the hanger-on. Scott, basically. Although he’s pretty much an honorary Argent since he and Ally are joined at this hip these days.
“Of course,” Peter says. “Who else will bring the potato salad?”
Talia heads out, and Stiles ignores the mess his books and papers have made, and heads for the couch. He pretty much nosedives into Chris’s lap, grunting.
“I hate college,” he mumbles.
“No, you don’t.” Chris rubs his back. “You’re just hungry and tired.”
“I hate everything,” Stiles mumbles, and Chris moves his hand to the back of his neck and squeezes gently. Stiles lets his eyes fall shut as he floods with warmth.
“Don’t fall asleep,” Peter warns. “Dinner’s almost ready.”
“I’m not gonna,” Stiles lies.
He totally does.
 ***
Stiles wakes up some time later, to the gentle touch of a hand on his forehead.
“Dinner time, sweetheart,” Peter whispers with a smile.
Stiles blinks himself awake. “Shit. I fell asleep.”
“I’m sure you were just resting your eyes,” Peter teases, and straightens up again. He offers Stiles a hand to pull himself to his feet.
Stiles shuffles over toward the dining table, and notices guiltily that his backpack and books have been cleared away while he dozed. Jesus though. Thursdays are a killer. There should be no more Thursdays. Ever.
He sits down, and Chris appears from the kitchen with the plates.
“Spinach and ricotta agnolotti,” Peter announces, taking a seat beside Stiles.
“Smells good,” Stiles says, and waits until Chris sits down before he digs in. “Oh, Jesus. It tastes even better.”
Peter preens a little.
“Are you carb loading us for a reason, Peter?” Chris asks, a gleam in his eye and a smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
“Christopher.” Peter smirks. “What are you insinuating?”
Stiles laughs.
He likes the way they tease one another. He also likes that he knows it’s not going to go anywhere tonight. Stiles is way too tired and will probably fall asleep again the moment he finishes eating. Thursday nights are cuddle nights. That’s the law. Friday mornings, though? Well, all bets are off for Friday mornings, once Stiles has had a decent night’s sleep.
“How’d the tenancy applications thing go?” Stiles asks and reaches for some salad.
It’s been months, but at last the construction is finished on the downstairs levels. The apartments are clean, and new, and were open for inspection last weekend. And Chris is going to be the building manager. The money isn’t great, but he’s got his eye on a property over on Mason Avenue that he wants to develop into apartments too, if the Hale Family Trust will invest again. Stiles doesn’t think it will be a problem.
“We got another three applications today,” Chris says. “Good people, from what I can tell. If the references check out, I’ll accept them.”
“Wow. It’s gonna get crowded around here soon.”
“It’s a good location,” Chris says. He raises his eyebrows. “So how was your day? Apart from fuck everything?”
Stiles feels a little better about it with some food in his belly. “Ugh. Why’d I choose early childhood education?”
“Because you’ll look adorable with a bunch of preschoolers hanging off you,” Peter suggests.
“Shut up.” Stiles flushes a little, because he’s thought about it, okay? Thought about maybe having a kid or two of his own. Of theirs. But not now. God no. Stiles has got college to finish, and a career to start, but holy crap, Chris could build such a gorgeous fucking nursery, right? And Peter would be awesome at picking out the best books for little kids. And Stiles bets he’d do the voices and everything. Stiles packs that fantasy away somewhere safe for the future. “So, this one kid in my psych class found out I want to be a preschool teacher, and she was all ‘Duh, of course the omega wants to do something with babies!’”
Chris bristles, and Peter narrows his eyes.
“It was funny though,” Stiles says. “Deaton said that if she’s going to bring that attitude with her, she can leave and find another class, and he would totally recommend gender studies.” He grins. “The look on her face!”
His alphas relax.
“Oh, also I got a message from Dad today.” He grins winningly at Chris. “His kitchen sink is leaking.”
Chris smiles. “I’ll go around in the morning.”
“There’s some leftover meatloaf in the fridge,” Peter says. “Take that around too.” He catches Stiles’s look. “Please. If we didn’t keep an eye of them, John and Isaac would exist solely on cereal and frozen dinners.”
It’s not exactly true, but Stiles doesn’t argue. He likes the little game of one-upmanship that Chris and Peter are engaged in when it comes to his dad. Chris is always tinkering with something around the house, and Peter is always dropping food off. Stiles’s dad also thinks their obvious attempts to try to charm him over are ridiculous, but he hasn’t told them that.
“They make you happy, kiddo,” he’d told Stiles a few weeks back. “That’s all that matters. But I’m not turning down free labor and food. I’m not an idiot.”
It’s hilarious.
Stiles loves it.
 ***
Thursday night is movie night, which means Stiles cuddles on the couch with Chris and Peter and they let him choose whatever movie he wants to watch. Which is generally something from the Marvel universe. Stiles usually dozes through most of the movie, just reveling in being wrapped up with Chris and Peter.
This is when he feels most like an omega.
When he has an alpha on either side of him, and he’s warm and safe and happy. There are no negative associations with it at all. No expectation that he will kneel or submit. No insinuations that he’s weak or he’s somehow lesser than they are. Just warm and safe and happy, while their touches draw out all the stresses of the day and leave him calm and sated.
The world isn’t perfect. There will always be people who think that omegas are only good for breeding and doing the housework. There will always be people who look sideways at two alphas in a relationship. There will always be people who attach judgment values to gender and orientation, and some days it makes Stiles so frustrated he wants to punch the walls. But he tries to leave that imperfect world behind when he arrives home everyday. He’s not a fighter, not in the same way Cora still is. Cora’s going places, and fuck anyone who stands in her way and tells her she can’t lead because she’s a beta. He’s not even a fighter in the same way Isaac is. Isaac’s doing a lot better now. He and Cora are dating. Isaac’s still working hard to reconstruct the identity that Deucalion tried to rip away from him. He’s not a typical alpha anymore, but maybe he never was? Maybe nobody is, and that’s the point.
Stiles yawns, and Peter cards his fingers through his hair. Chris takes Stiles’s hand into his lap and holds it, rubbing his thumb gently back and forth across his palm.
On screen, something explodes.
At the lowest point of Stiles’s life, Chris and Peter were the best thing that could have happened to him. And now, all this time later, they still are.
That’s pretty amazing.
“I love you, you know,” he murmurs, then jerks properly awake when Chris and Peter both lean in to kiss him and knock their heads together.
“Motherfucker,” Peter mutters.
“Oh, there’s that fancy education of yours showing,” Chris shoots back, glaring.
Stiles snorts with laughter.
“You’re both fucking idiots,” Stiles tells them. “And I love you.”
He kisses them in turn: Chris first, and then Peter. And then Peter again, and then Chris. And then he leans back and watches as they kiss.
It’s all about balance.
It works for them.
And it’s going to keep working, Stiles knows, always.

Chapter 3: Ice Pick
_____________________—————————————
Cassidy awoke with a start, sitting up and groaning at the pain filling her entire body.
"Hey, hey, hey." Isaac said as he rushed to her side. "You should lay back down."
"W-what happened?" Cassidy asked, her voice raspy.
"Apparently, you and Derek got into it last night."
"We what?" Flashes of the previous night came to her mind; all the roars, swipes and kicks. At least it explained enough. "Never mind...I remember."
Cassidy moved to sit along the side of her bed.
"You should lay back down."
"It's okay. I feel myself healing already. I'll be good to go in 15 minutes."
"What happened last night between you two?" Isaac asked as he sat down next to her.
"It was nothing. I was dealing with some stuff and he thought it would be the best time to test my-abilities." She shrugged. Isaac nodded, sort of understanding what she was saying. "Where is he anyway?"
"He said he found someone else. Went to go see her. If it helps, he was limping when he left."
Cassidy couldn't help the slight laugh that escaped her.
"It does. Thank you. Help me up?"
"Uh, you sure you're ready?"
"Yeah, it's fine."
It was once she stood up she realized that she was in completely different clothes from the previous night. When did that happen?
"Hey, um...weird question." Cassidy started. "Who changed my clothes?"
"I-I think Derek. He was with you all night. I think he felt bad."
"Answers my question on who won the fight." She mumbled. "I'm gonna kick his ass for changing my clothes...hold on." They stopped and Cassidy looked down her shirt. "At least it's the same from yesterday."
Isaac carefully helped Cassidy outside of her room and down a shorter set of stairs than the ones at the entrance.
"Anyway, how are you today, Isaac?" Cassidy asked him as they reached the platform.
"I'm alright." Isaac replied as he let her arm go so she could move around on her own. "Tired."
"Thank you." She referred to his help before adding on, "First full moon will do that to you. It gets easier with time, I promise."
Isaac offered her a small smile and a nod. Before he could say anything further, the door to the entrance opened, Derek walked through with a blonde teenager wearing a hospital gown, whom Isaac recognized as Erica Reyes. She was known as the girl who would get seizures and someone was horrible enough to take a video and post it online once.
"Who's this?" Cassidy asked Derek as they descended the stairs.
"This is Erica. Our new beta." Derek introduced. "Erica, this is Cassidy. She's the other alpha I told you about."
"Hi." Erica replied meekly, nervous but kind smile on her face.
"Nice to meet you, Erica." Cassidy walked over to the blonde. "It's nice to have you. I was thinking of doing some shopping. I need some new clothes. Would you like to go with me?"
"Sure."
Cassidy offered Erica a comforting smile before turning to Derek.
"We're gonna go out for a bit." She told Derek. "I also have some words for you changing my clothes while I was unconscious."
Derek nodded, he understood. But he also didn't want her to wake up uncomfortable after the previous night. He knew she would be in a lot of pain.
"Understood." Derek told her.
"Come on. Let's both change so we can go." Cassidy turned back to Erica and led the way to her 'room'. Just as they got to her door, Cassidy got another flash of the fight from the previous night. "Derek, did you bite me on the arm?"
Derek smirked and turned to walk away.
"How else was I gonna get out of that choke hold?" He called out behind him.
Cassidy couldn't help but smile as she watched him walk away.

The next day, Cassidy officially started school at Beacon Hills High despite her the fact that her first day was technically was supposed to be yesterday. Not only that, it was the day Derek and Cassidy chose for Erica to make her debut as the new version of herself as she healed from her bite.
Cassidy walked into her homeroom class first thing in the morning and it immediately caught the eyes of Scott and Stiles. She paused for a moment, surprised to see the two best friends before giving the note from the front office to her teacher. The teacher motioned for her to take the empty seat behind Stiles, who of course was seated next to Scott. She walked over to her seat and sat down, Scott and Stiles immediately turned around to face her.
"What are you doing here?" Stiles asked.
"Going to school." Cassidy replied with a shrug.
"Aren't you like, too old for that?"
"How old do you think I am?"
"I-I-I don't know." Stiles didn't want to offend her. He just assumed she was at least the same age as Derek...come on, she was an alpha.
"I just turned 17. I'm a junior." She explained.
"Everything okay with Isaac?" Scott asked, lowering his voice.
"He's fine. Safe."
"That's vague." Stiles added.
"I don't know what else you want me to say."
"You need to talk to Derek." Scott continued. "Tell him to stop turning people."
"You know if they're willing, there isn't much of an issue." Cassidy told him. "It's not like he's keeping secrets from who he turns. They know everything."
"It doesn't matter, Cassidy." Scott's voice raised, earning some looks from his classmates. He looked around and lowered his voice. "It isn't fair to put anyone in the situation we're in."
"Scott, I hear you. I really do. But I can't make Derek do anything. It was their choice and they said yes. I-" Cassidy was cut off.
"Wait, "they"? Who else did he turn?"
Crap. She let the cat out of the bag early...well, kinda. But before she could say anything, the bell rang and the teacher began to speak.

As luck would have it, Cassidy managed to avoid both Scott and Stiles as the day went on. That was until lunch time when Erica reemerged looking very different than the last time everyone saw her. She strode through the cafeteria with confidence, her blonde hair done in curls with leopard print heels, wearing a short black skirt, a white shirt and a leather jacket.
Cassidy couldn't help but smile as she saw a big difference already in the previously insecure teenager. The bite was already working its magic.
She watched as Erica grabbed an apple from a kid and took a bite from it, not once messing up her red lipstick. As she left the cafeteria, she took one look back. Almost immediately Scott and Stiles followed her so Cassidy took the time to go to her locker and get ready for the next period in a few minutes.
At least Derek's plan worked...it was to get Scott's attention.
"Erica?" Scott asked angrily as he stood next to Cassidy's locker.
"Erica." Cassidy confirmed as she took a book out of her locker.
"Why her?"
"She wanted the bite." Cassidy closed her locker. "If it helps, I didn't know about it until it was over."
"It doesn't. Would knowing have changed anything?"
"Probably not." Scott scoffed at her. "Look, I know you don't like it but this is what needs to be done. She knows the risks. We need all of us right now because you were in the woods that night. We're being hunted and murdered because some crazy old man wants to blame all of us werewolves because one, who is already dead by the way, killed his psychopath daughter."
"Who's next?"
"You really think that I'm gonna tell you that?" She asked him. "Come on, Scott. I'm not gonna possibly jeopardize my life because you want to play hero. This is our reality. I don't like it either and if I had a choice, I wouldn't let anyone be turned. But I personally, like living my life. Maybe it's selfish but I'm not ready to let your girlfriend's family kill me and other innocent werewolves. If you were smart, you would know that just because you're secretly dating an Argent doesn't make you safe either and you would join us until there's another way."
"Sounds like you don't want another way." Scott crossed his arms.
"I do. I don't want to fight. But I will if it means surviving. If we were dealing with your girlfriend, things would be different. She seems like a nice girl. But we're not dealing with her."
The bell rang, signalling the end of the lunch period. Student began to fill the hallways, immediately putting an end to Scott and Cassidy's conversation.

"How'd it go?" Derek asked Cassidy as she got back from school.
"Fine. What you expected." Cassidy said, a slight gloominess in her tone, as she walked down the stairs.
"Does he know who our next member is?"
"Not yet. I'm sure he'll figure it out tomorrow when your next plan to keep his attention happens."
Derek caught on to her change in attitude from this morning. This morning, she was doing well, she seemed happy but now...it's almost a complete 180. He looked over to Isaac and Erica, who were nearby, before motioning for Cassidy to follow him. With a small sigh, she followed him to the train car.
"What's wrong?" Derek asked her.
"It's nothing." Cassidy replied, sitting down and running a hand through her hair.
"Doesn't sound or look like nothing."
Cassidy sighed once more, pausing as she gathered her thoughts.
"It's just...first of all, I was a jerk to Scott earlier and I feel bad about that. But, he really thinks he can fix things."
"Cass, he'll say anything to get-"
"He didn't say it. It was just in the way he's been since he and I met. He's not like us." Cassidy looked up at Derek. "I mean that in the best way possible. He's a good person."
"It'll get him killed."
"Will it? Because maybe he might actually be the only one of us who can get us through this. Us changing more people? It's only making things worse for us in their eyes."
"Look, Cassidy." Derek squatted down in front of her. "We need as many of us as possible. As many as we can teach at a time. Because there is no changing or reasoning with someone like Gerard Argent. We have to do this to keep us safe. All of us. Even Scott. He'll see that soon enough."
Cassidy looked Derek in his eyes. She wanted to believe him but she also believed in Scott's way. She was caught in between Scott and Derek's methods. All Cassidy wanted was for the Argents to stop murdering innocent werewolves.
"Maybe you shouldn't go with us tomorrow night." Derek told her, breaking her out of her thoughts.
"It's fine." Cassidy spoke up immediately. "I'm fine. I'm just having a weird day. I'll be better tomorrow."
Although Derek wasn't sure about that, he nodded and let it go. Was he already losing her? How much longer until he would lose the rest of his pack? He had to find a way to keep her faith in him. As long as he had her, he knew the rest of his pack would follow.

"Why Boyd?" Scott asked as he once again, found Cassidy at her locker during lunch time the next day.
"Hello to you too, Scott." Cassidy sighed, closing her locker.
"You and Derek need to stay away from Boyd."
"I'm seriously not in the mood today, Scott." She faced him, running a hand through her hair. "Okay, you got us. Boyd is next in line to be turned."
"Did you bite him yet?"
"I didn't."
"Leave him alone."
"I'm not about to have the same argument with you two days in a row. Rest assured, I won't be biting or turning anyone. Isaac and Erica are not my betas."
"You have to stop Derek."
"Again, I am not gonna repeat this argument."
Cassidy turned to walk away.
"When they end up dead, can you live with yourself?" Scott called out after her, stopping her in her tracks. "Because you know that's what will happen if you and Derek don't stop what you're doing."
"You're not the only one who can protect people, Scott." Cassidy told him before the bell rang and continued on her way to her next class.
That thought had gone through Cassidy's mind. But she also knew she could protect them. Right?

Cassidy listened as Derek went over what tonight's plan was once Scott came into the picture. Isaac and Erica listened as he explained that it would also be a way to see how some of his battle training was coming along.
"Cassidy. You listening?" Derek asked irritably.
"Mm hmm." She answered, her mind still turning the words Scott spoke in her head.
"Then maybe you can share what I just talked about." Derek waited as Cassidy came up with nothing. "Maybe if you were paying more attention to this instead of your crush on Scott, you would know."
Isaac and Erica looked over to Cassidy in surprise.
"Wait, wait, whoa. I don't have a crush on Scott."
"You sure about that?"
"Just get back to the plan." She said through gritted teeth.

Derek's mind drifted as he drove the pack to the ice rink. This whole thing with Scott...her seeming to lose faith in Derek...it bothered him. It hurt him more than he cared to admit. To be honest, it made him begin to question his feelings for his fellow alpha. Why would this hurt so much? Maybe because deep down he had feelings for her that had snuck up on him.
And when he's hurt, he tends to lash out at times. Blaming a crush was just easy.
Derek seemed to snap back into the present when they got to the ice while Scott was in the middle of conversation with Boyd as Boyd sat on the zamboni.
"I just wanna not eat lunch alone every day." Boyd told Scott.
"If you're looking for friends, you can do a lot better than Derek." Scott said.
"That really hurts, Scott. I mean, if you're going to review me, at least take a consensus." Derek said, catching Scott by surprise. "Erica, how's life been for you since we met?"
"Hmm. In a word? Transformative." Erica replied, letting out a growl as she bared her fangs.
"Isaac?"
"Well, I'm a little bummed about being a fugitive, but other than that, I'm great." Isaac answered more aloof than Erica.
It was in that moment that Cassidy realized that Isaac had changed too. He wasn't jumpy and the confidence oozed out of him as much as it did Erica. Only difference was he wasn't trying to be seductive as she was.
"Dare I ask you, Cassidy?"
"Honestly, it's been better since we met." Cassidy gave her reply. She wasn't gonna lie about it. She did find things better with Derek. Before this pack, things were a lot different for her.
Derek seemed impressed with that answer as Scott watched her for a moment. There just seemed to be something behind her words...was she just as lonely as Boyd seemed to be?
"Okay, hold on. This isn't exactly a fair fight." Scott told Derek, snapping back into reality.
"Then go home, Scott." Derek shrugged, smug smile on his face. He looked back at Isaac and Erica who took their cue and made their move.
Scott shifted and punched the ground, cracking the ice.
"I meant fair for them."
Scott let out a loud roar. Derek and Cassidy watched as Scott fought off both Isaac and Erica, almost with ease. Boyd looked over to the alphas in worry because it wasn't long before they both lost their fight against the lone beta. Both Derek and Cassidy were impressed with his fighting abilities.
"Don't you get it? He's not doing this for you. He's just adding to his own power, okay? It's all about him. He makes you feel like he's giving you some kind of gift when all he's done is turn you into a bunch of guard dogs!" Scott yelled at Isaac and Erica, sliding them across the ice to Derek's feet.
"It's true. It is about power." Derek admitted.
Cassidy checked on Isaac and Erica as Boyd watched in awe when Derek shifted and fought Scott. He was impressed to see Scott McCall, a beta, hold his own against the alpha werewolf Derek. Unfortunately, Derek won this fight.
"Derek, you made your point." Cassidy called out as Derek kept his foot on Scott's throat.
Considering that Cassidy just said it to remind him and not out of arguments sake, Derek let up. He stared down at Scott for a moment before looking to Boyd as he walked away. Scott watched helplessly as Boyd got off the zamboni, going to follow Derek, Cassidy and the pack.
"Don't. You don't wanna be like them." Scott tried once more to reason with Boyd.
"You're right." Boyd replied, showing Scott the bite he already received. "I wanna be like you."

"Hey." Derek greeted Cassidy after lightly knocking on her open door.
"Hey." Cassidy replied, looking up from her homework.
"I know tonight wasn't easy on you. But I just wanted to say thank you. You had my back when it mattered and I appreciate that."
"Yeah, of course. We're a pack, right?"
"It's not just that." Derek sat down next to her. "I know I was a dick earlier. I was out of line and I'm sorry."
"I should kick your ass for that." She joked, smiling lightly. "We're good. But I thought a lot about what you said yesterday. And you're right. There's no reasoning with the Argents and we're gonna do what we have to so we can stay safe. I hate that that's our reality but it is."
"I'm sorry that it's where we're at. If I could change things, I would. Then maybe we wouldn't have to keep preparing these guys for battle almost all the time. And we could just be."
"Yeah. Maybe one day."
"Maybe."
He lightly smiled at the hopeful look in her eyes. They held each other's gaze for a moment when she noticed Derek's moving between her eyes and her lips. Just as she was about to lean in, someone cleared their throat. Both alphas looked over to Erica at the doorway as she held up her book and notebook.
"Sorry to interrupt." Erica said, sounding anything but sorry. "But Cassidy has a test to help me prep for."
"I guess I'll let you get to it then." Derek got up and walked to the door. He glanced back at Cassidy once more before he left.
"What was that all about?" Erica asked with a smile, full of interest.
"Nothing."
"That didn't look like nothing to me."
"So, Biology…" Cassidy changed the subject.
