Looking at how the branches of the same tree change throughout the year, I come across the following thought. Nature, with its eternal cycle of shedding leaves and bringing new growth, offers a powerful and timeless metaphor for the fleeting nature of life. Just as the leaves of trees fall and dance upon the earth, only to be followed by vibrant, new life in the form of fresh foliage, so too do our experiences and memories change and transform over time. In this cycle, we are reminded that, in the grand scheme of things, the worst of times inevitably pass, making way for the renewal and promise of new beginnings. Isn't that right?

I love the wizening beauty of our backyard gardens in autumn. The relaxed mess of fading flowers and wild weeds. The blast of color from September blooms. The cherry tomatoes are still popping and ripening. The potted marigolds are top heavy, and the pansies are still gorgeous. As the autumn leaves mix with fallen begonia petals in the still green grass, I lay a wreath of spent sunflowers around the birdbath. “To everything there is a season…”

Today

It has been pouring like this since last night. We need the rain, but are waiting for a break in the wet to finish the winter prep and get ready for the freezing temps to come. The Boiz are already mourning the loss of their outdoor beds...

But does this look like a man who wants to lay outdoors during a monsoon?

I do appreciate his faith in me, but I cannot control the Weather gods and so cannot shut the spigot off at his every request.

I love/hate how it is suddenly turned autumn within like three days. And now my heart is torn between doing cozy stuff and sitting in my cozy corner drinking a chai latte, and doing spooky stuff, because it is spooky season.
