3. Heaven Lyrics Analysis

This is where stuff gets too "coincidental" to be a coincidence any more. I'll start from the beginning.

"Heaven", on Exo's EX'ACT album, is a b-side song written by Chanyeol.

As you probably guessed from the title, "Heaven", is a sweet song about a person who the singer feels like is an angel who came from heaven. In the song, the singer describes the angel as a beautiful person who is like a ray of light for them.

The keywords in the song are heaven, angel, sky, light, etc.

Hello, angel

You're like a painting, when I look at the sky, I can only see you.

As you read in the above image, Chanyeol used "sky" as a way to describe Bakehyun.

And apparently, during this time, Chanyeol also posted pictures of the sky on his Instagram.

Now, posting pictures of the sky is really common, especially among idols, but it's still pretty suspicious how he used it to describe Baekhyun too.

By chance, Baekhyun's superpower given by SM for their Kwangya plot line is light. This is a very small detail and is probably a coincidence, but we should take it in account to not miss anything.

Years ago, Bakehyun showed everyone the "angel wings" on his back. He has prominent shoulder blades, and I think he's mentioned before that he is insecure of them.

Here, he bent down to show them to everyone and by coincidence, Chanyeol was the one who revealed them. He knew exactly where to press.

Baekhyun then gets up, and I believe he says "I'm an angel" or something along similar lines.

Bakehyun has some traditionally female traits, so in turn, many Exo members and Exo-Ls describe him as "pretty". While fans do it to praise Baekhyun's visuals, Exo members do it jokingly like an inside joke.

Saying that a girl is pretty jokingly seems really weird. In a world where people assume that they are a couple when a boy and a girl hang out, it seems like you wouldn't want to tell a girl that she's pretty in fear that she might find out about your feelings. However, if you have already confessed and are in a relationship with her, then why would the girl assume you are joking when you call her pretty? That is supposed to be a compliment.

Chanyeol is a celebrity who would face major backlash for using "he" in a song, especially in a country like South Korea. In order to protect his reputation, mentioning anything other than a "she" would be dangerous. Just because Chanyeol mentioned "she" does not confirm that he is straight or was referring to Baekhyun.

Thus, this line could easily mean Baekhyun telling Chanyeol to not jokingly call him pretty.

Questionable Bro Moments: ChanBaek

Heyo, welcome back to my mini-analysis. Today, we’ll be discussing ChanBaek and this questionable moment that had EVERYONE raising their brows at.

In this video, we see Baekhyun smirk and look at Chanyeol as he’s walking past him, ignoring him altogether.

That wouldn’t be all that questionable at first glance, but something else stood out:

Chanyeol’s shook reaction when Baekhyun shook hands with multiple other people before him.

This really should not be questionable, like at all if they’re just friends. I would understand a little surprise and even being upset over not getting a handshake, but the look on Chanyeol’s face was one of betrayal.

Why would he need to be so upset that his friend ignored him to talk and greet other people before him?

Why was Baekhyun egging him on and smirking before going in for the handshakes?

Bros wouldn’t be that shook/sneaky if there wasn’t something else going on, would they?

Chanbaek’s signature analysis

Since quite a few people seemed to enjoy my handwriting analysis, I thought it might be interesting to do one of their signatures as well. 

Let’s start with a little boring theory as usual. According to Max Pulver, the signature has a pretty deep meaning because it mirrors the way we present ourselves to the society. Therefore, it could either be “persona”, just like a mask that we wear in public, or “personality”, because it conveys the individual’s psychological traits without hiding anything.

First thing to notice it’s if it differs from the normal handwriting. If it does, chances are that our public behaviour could be much more different than how we behave in private. I talked about behaviour and not attitude because the signature is particularly telling about this peculiar aspect. The general psychology of the individual is generally gathered from the “normal” handwriting, and analyzing the signture by itself isn’t very meaningful if you don’t have any handwritten sample to compare.

Chanyeol and Baekhyun are artists, so of course their stage personas and the way the carry themselves in society differs from how they behave when away from the public. This is a fact and we all know it. 

Anyway, in my latest analysis I already talked how Baekhyun, in that little message he wrote, chose not to use his “official” signature (the fancy kind he uses during fansign) but instead wrote his name in plain hangul. This is a sign of sincerity and honesty, and choosing not to “hide” himself beneath his usual pretty signature indicates a will to convey a particularly heartfelt message. Also, this is a sample of his “official” signature:

As we can see, it’s carefully thought out to give out a classy, sleek look. Anyway, the readability of the letters for “Baek” isn’t that good (you can barely distinguish the B, let alone A, E and K, and let’s ot even start about the Hyun, which should be the undulating trait starting from the lower-right side of the X of EXO). This might seem nothing, but it’s a trait in common with the already mentioned “unofficial” signature, where the hangul characters looked crooked and confused: making one’s signature’s unreadable, or even urecognizable, is usually a sign of confusion. 

The aesthetic research is clearly a way to reach out to others giving off an image of self which is perceived by the individual as unfitting and even exaggerated, as if he intimately finds it too flattering and even a little fake. And since we already analyzed his handwriting, well, we already know that Baekhyun yelds a generally negative image of himself, even if even his signature shows the same signs of ambition we already noticed in his message (the slant towards the upper-right corner and the ending waves, which point - even if not much - towards the same spot). 

Also, talking about space, we already talked about the way Baekhyun distances himself from left (symbolizing the past) and his writing flows towards right (symbolizing future): it’s particularly evident in his signature, and usually means a strong will to improve and a general projection towards future (these aspects can be found even in his “unofficial” signature). 

Another important thing to notice is that his signature stays pretty much the same since his debut, the only thing that changes slightly is the general readability of the Latin letters.

As for Chayeol, his signature alone isn’t very helpful in analyzing his personality traits, because it changes a lot due to times and circumstances. Referencing to his handwriting’s analysis, in this case, is not only helpful but fundamental.

The sample above should be the latest version of the official signature he uses at events or to sign fans’ goodies, but if you compare it with his debut or even with some more recent ones, it’s not very consistent. This might be linked to Chanyeol’s personality, which has a little tendency to be inconsistent from time to time, but also a perpetual push towards experimenting new things. 

We already noticed in his handwriting a slight (very slight) slant towards left, which I read as I sign of introvertion. This trait comes off again much more clearer in his signature, especially in the upper right line of “Chan”, that curves backwards towards left. This might mean that even if Chanyeol loves having people around and is very social, he still likes taking some time for himself and keeping important things away from the others (he loves travelling by himself, for instance, also he likes composing, which is by definition a solitary activity). 

Yeol’s signature shows the same slant towars the upper right corner we found in Baekhyun’s, but the “anticlockwise” slant of the N in Chan shows a little more caution, a little more guarding. This is very fitting with what we previously speculated about our happy virus not being exactly the same in private. 

Comparing this sample with other versions I found online, the anticlockwise slant is always present, while the general slant towards the upper left corner isn’t always there, and the line he ideally writes onto is sometimes very straight. This might be a sign of discipline (which we already found in his handwriting), but also an attempt to “ground” himself, to keep his feet well planted on Earth. This is particularly evident in his early/post-debut signatures, like this one:

This tendency tends to disappear with time, though, angling towards the upper right corner (meaning ambition and thrive to improve). Sometimes the boy uses hangul, but the anticlockwise slant, as well as the slant towards the upper right corner (even if with slight variations in amplitude, maybe according to his mood) are always there.

a chanbaek analysis from a veteran exo-l (part 2)

Writing this was a bit harder in comparison to the first part, because I wanted to organize things into a neat timeline, but I ended up not having enough patience for it lol specially because both of ChanBaek's main archive blogs seem to have deleted their pages documenting each date of EXO's early years. Therefore I apologize in advance if this part is a bit more messy. Also, please don't forget that all of this is my opinion and I don't mean for any of it to be taken as truth!

I kind of want to jump from MAMA era directly into Wolf era, since we don't really have a lot of cover regarding their debut phase besides Chanyeol's overeagerness and Baekhyun's awkwardness towards it, so to sum it up, I felt as if Chanyeol was more confident and consistent on what he thought an idol should act like, while Baekhyun (sweet, innocent Baekhyun who was a trainee for less than a year!) was still unsure on how to act on camera.

On the few early variety shows/interviews EXO appeared on, the members always pointed out how funny Baekhyun was, how good he'd be at variety and at doing imitations, but he never really lived up to all the praise on camera, although off of it, he most likely was as good as his members claimed.

He was a bit stiff on his early days in comparison to what we see today, and that's normal, I guess, since he debuted really quickly, but when you compare him to Chanyeol the contrast is so interesting, because the latter was able to latch on to a persona as soon as the public gave him one, while to me, Baekhyun was still doubtful regarding what to put on display. In the end, deep inside, Baekhyun is a private person, and was even more so when he wasn't confident enough to talk to fans like he does today.

Once again, I’m sorry for not being able to upload the gifs directly into the post, so I’ll just link them like I did on my last one.

This is another one of the moments where Baek appears to tell Chanyeol to just. Hold on for a bit.

There's another one similar to this where Chanyeol does the same thing (try to whisper on Baekhyun's ear) and Baekhyun fake laughs and stares at a fan's camera right after. Then, his expression just goes blank. It's really interesting to watch because you can just see the gears spinning on Chanyeol's brain as he stares at Baekhyun for a second and clearly thinks alright, fanservice time, and leans in to whisper something: it happens so fast you just know it wasn't genuine whispering, just a playful interaction for the fans, and Baekhyun's direct stare to the camera as soon as it happens just confirms this for me. 

1: Chanyeol spots his target.

2: He’s really thinking this through.

3: Baek's in a perfect position for whispering-time, so he leans in and does his thing.

4: Baekhyun laughs.

5: And stares directly at a fan's camera.

6: Immediately regrets his life choices. Chanyeol looks pleased.

Now let's jump on to Wolf era, shall we?

Wolf era

I can't help but laugh when I think about how wild 2013 was for both EXO and EXO-Ls. They had their first hit song (which was Growl, not Wolf) the fandom grew considerably, shippers where just discovering the cute ISAC moments between "BaekYeol" and "HunHan"... Or at least that's how everyone remembers most of what happened during that year.

Are we forgetting the rumoured ChanBaek fight?

Considering their past interactions on airports, SMTOWN concerts, ISAC and other events, ChanBaek was now widely known to be close to each other. Baekhyun even said Chanyeol was the one who made him open up, and both of them mentioned feeling this "connection" to each other as soon as they met (although jokingly).

After Mama, the fandom was content-less for a considerable period of time, and what most people did was sharing around old performances and repeat overused memes.  I think that in every fandom there is a period where fans establish their main inside jokes and basically just get together to create a collective line of thought for perceiving their idols. That being said, one of the most well established facts in the fandom was that Chanyeol and Baekhyun were close. That was a fact.But then Wolf came, and they suddenly were not. 

This gif is a good example of how awkward their interactions were. Not even my delusional shipping brain in 2013 was able to come up with an explanation for it.

They simply did not acknowledge each other at all, and Chanyeol appeared to be closer to Kyungsoo (I think Baekhyun interacted a lot with Tao, but that may have been during the Growl era, not Wolf. As I said before, I'm a Chanyeol stan guys, sorry lmao).

Point is, these two boys who seemed to be best friends suddenly were clearly distant from one another.

What added fuel to the fire of the rumours was their appearance on Sukira, a radio show, where Sehun cried because the members sometimes had fights. Here's a fanacc:

Here's a video cut of this part of their interview. 

I think this ask on lets-talk-baekyeol, a popular ChanBaek analysis blog from back in the day, shows how curious a lot of fans were.

What happened back then?

There's really no answer for that. On my opinion, not even Chanyeol or Baekhyun could give us a concrete answer on it, because I don't think an actual fight happened. For me, it was most likely a personality clash, a disagreement that probably wasn't even voiced out loud, just both of them noticing how uncomfortable things got, if Baekhyun's reactions to Chanyeol's fanservice is any indication. I somehow doubt there was a specific episode that created this distance between them, specially because during Growl, they went back to being friends, although not as touchy on camera as before, as if one of them had established their limits (oh, I wonder who!), but I still have this feeling that all of this was unspoken, because unspoken things seem to be a pattern on ChanBaek's relationship (something I'll touch on later, hopefully).

But it was during Growl era that I noticed something else about Baekhyun.

Wolf era

EXO'S Showtime was a such a gift. I recommend reading lets-talk-baekyeol's blog for this. I don't really agree with everything they say they do present a lot of relevant points. I may repeat them here, since I noticed them myself as well, but credits for them nonetheless.

I remember finding the lack of ChanBaek interactions during the episodes really dissappointing, but considering the Wolf Era drought, this was better than nothing.

My 13 year old self was devastated when Baekhyun appeared so quiet during Chanyeol's birthday episode, and during a recent rewatch of it, I think realized why.

Baekhyun doesn't like superficial things. It's not that Chanyeol is insincere, but he's just better than Baekhyun is at handling people pleasing, even when he doesn't really mean what's he saying/doing. The Chanyeol birthday episode was heavily centered on Chanyeol's random admiration for Kai, which I think we can all agree that it was a little bit scripted or a really spur of the moment thing that they just ran along with and oh man. Baekhyun did not want to be part of it.

During ChanKai's hug, this is what he looked like on the background, and the poor boy even refused to eat cake. He's just in the back, which is weird, because he's such a talkative person and Chanyeol is one of his closest friends. The only moment where he seems to be genuinely comfortable is when Chanyeol blows the candle and it's really cute. To me, it seems that he was kind of embarrassed to witness so much acting from everyone else and was unable to participate because he struggles with things like this, but the moment Chanyeol blows his candles to comemorate his birthday seems sincere enough for him to fondly smile.

This ties in so well with everything from Mama Era. He's just unable to keep acting/people pleasing on the same easy way that Chanyeol does, but this time he's not as nervous about it as he was on his earlier-early days, where he probably felt pressured to actually do stuff. Now he just doesn't do **it, he just doesn't do something that he dislikes doing, and that sadly creates a distance between them on camera and probably on a deeper level in their relationship as well, because both are just realizing how different their perceptions over their jobs is.

There's also this moment that the mods on lets-talk-baekyeol pointed out.

On the Christmas episode, when the members leave the couch to go get their presents, Chanyeol stays seated while Baekhyun gets up to fetch his. This is the sitting arrangement before (almost) everyone got up:

But when Baekhyun comes back, there's free space next to Chanyeol, however he's hesitant to sit by his side. He actually hesitates and doesn't sit down. Jongdae even gives him a little push right after.

Baek just seems hesitant to do things on camera, to interact with Chanyeol in front of an audience. For this moment, I feel like he's afraid to sit next to Chanyeol and end up having to over act. It's not that Chanyeol himself makes him uncomfortable, but the image of the friendship that they ended up creating for fans demands a lot from him.

And when I say hesitant to do things on camera, I really do mean it, because when Baekhyun thinks he is not being recorded/seen, here's what he does:

Their relationship clearly changed, and I think the reason for it is actually simple: both of them were under the impression that they were compatible with each other when they actually were not. Their personalities are extremely different, even if the way they present themselves is sometimes similar. Wolf and Growl era was our way, as fans, of watching them navigate around each other and finding out how their relationship was supposed to work.

And you know what's nice about that? The members watched all of it unfold. Their reactions to some of ChanBaek's interaction is a gold mine when it comes to analyzing them, because they clearly know, just as we do, that their relationship is kind of complicated. But I want to talk about it on the next part.

I don't know if the next part is going to be the last, because after Growl there's Overdose and we all know what happened on 2014 [coughs] dating scandal [coughs] god help me I don't want to talk about it [coughs] so there's a lot to uncover and I need time to organize stuff.

5. Creep Cover

I don't normally count stuff like glances and eye contact because normally it is total bullshit and nothing out of the ordinary, but this is different.

In this video, we can very obviously see Chanyeol and Baekhyun making lovey-dovey eyes at each other.

Now, that is not it. If it was, then this still would have slipped under my radar. The thing is, that not only Chanyeol, but all the other members are also looking at Baekhyun.

Hmmm, it's almost as if they know that Chanyeol is singing for Baekhyun.

And that isn't it either!

Chanyeol's been pronouncing "you" and "your" very weirdly here. At first, I just thought that maybe he was struggling with the pronunciation. However, this particular moment at 0:26 sealed the deal for me.

If you slow the video down to 0.25, you can clearly hear Chanyeol saying "HIS skin makes me cry" when the lyrics are "Your skin makes me cry".

Need I say more? I rest my case.

What the fuck - Chanyeol version

I did a little analysis and found out that only according to my calculations from video and memory Baekhyun was jealous minimum 73 times, but Chanyeol 134 times!!!  And after that someone will say that the Chanyeol is less jealous? 😏

Let’s talk about baekhyun’s pillowcase

(warning: probably-a-little-irrational chanbaek thoughts ahead. by a little I mean very.)

I’m not here to talk about how it’s the absolute cutest thing ever to see baekhyun travel with his little baby pillowcase everywhere he goes to, just to feel at home. I will not. talk. about. this.

... he’s so soft T^T

but I’m not here for that; I’m here because something’s been on my mind and I’m sure someone has picked it up as well and might have posted about it even before I did but...

the patterns on the pillowcase? elephants and giraffes. cute ones at that.

who’s associated to elephants? yes. chanyeol.

what animal did chanyeol said he resembled most (in, by the way, a video he and baekhyun filmed together and were almost sitting on top of each other)? yes. giraffes.

and what im trying to say is that:

1. the fact that bbh goes places with his baby pillowcase is the sweetest thing ever and makes me so soft for him I feel myself dying a little inside, 2. that super cute pillowcase has got two animals on it and very “surprisingly”, these are giraffes and elephants??

now. another thing that’s on my mind. does he only bring it with him when chan is not with him?

If we goes with it well Chanbaek is real too then… I spoke to a lot of kfans and even if they never confirmed it they did insinuate they are a couple

I doubted Chanbaek for so long but in late 2018/2019 I dropped the shop because they started dating other people. I don't know if they were on a break or broke up. But they did date other people and it's when I dropped them as a ship as I was kinda disappointed they ended up like this after living together for so long.

So I never digged in their issue after 2019. So I have no idea what are they up to now. I was sad and all of my Sources regarding chanbaek closed their sns and we're sad but did Chanbaek come back now?? Idk! Did they have something in the past! Yes! Is it still there?? Idk

Are they just friends now ? Definitely best friends. But I don't think they have anything going on btw them now! They're besties after breakup? Yes! Did they decide to just stay friends or to give themselves a break to see if they can be back together again?? Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ did they reconcile and become a couple again?? Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️ hopefully!! But they did have something in the past I'm sure. They have a lot of evidence and crumbs and analysis that proves everything! But their situation now? Idk

Well I'll be seeing it now!! I genuinely get so much entertainment value out of these videos it's insane. its licherally just some guys doing their job and the girls are like I can't believe they have been fucking since 3.5.2013 and I will proof that fact to u thru seating arrangements alone. here they are looking at each other and yes we will be watching those 8 seconds three times in a row slowed down more each time and zoomed in to hell and back. idk how I could make any of this any clearer to u. they FUCKING. and again its licherally just dome guys doing their job like 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♂️

200505 Baekhyun IG Live Chanbaek Analysis

Hi everyone, I’ve gotten so many questions about this live today that I’m making a short analysis post on it’s location~!

I said not long ago that I wouldn’t be doing an apartment analysis due to the fact that I do currently believe I know the exact location of where they live tgt, but I’ll be showing a few things here because I believe there’s nothing wrong with analysing what they publicly release for you all~!

Disclaimer: In this post, I do show a (drawn by me) floor plan of a room plus the labelling of a few things that are right outside this room. As I can’t back up this plan by visual evidence, I’m afraid this can only be based on trust in me, so if you aren’t sure I know what I’m talking about, feel free to ignore this ! I’m just trying to share what I can.

At first glance, I honestly was confused as to where this was. I quickly released, however, that it was flipped, which helped a lot with placing it in the plan I know to be true. Once I did that, every single piece fell into place since it was so obvious lol. This plan + the things like the fridge and door outside this room are all things I previously knew about before this live ever came out ! So here is that small bit of plan I can show, plus what is right outside the room in the correct angles:

The room to the right is a kitchen/living room, and you can see the bedroom on the left there (once again, this is a small part of their apt). Here’s the match of that bedroom with Baekhyun’s live:

As you can see, they match up. And yes, this room is the same as the one with the grey wall - its the opposite wall to the one we see. It seems like this room is a gaming room (as said by Baekhyun)/livestream room. It’s possible they switched walls because fans became too aware of the grey wall !

Based on the geographical location of this room, it’s rather separated from the rest of the (very large) apt - and across the apt from the other bedrooms, which would enable the one who isn’t streaming to continue with their daily life with no fear of making too much noise. It also gives an almost completely bare room to easily show without any kind of items lying around that could give it away~

For something more substantial, here’s where the floor is the same in each person’s shots:

Baekhyun has light coloured, hardwood floors.

As you can see here, Chanyeol also showed light coloured hardwood rugs.

As well as this, there’s the obvious similarity in curtains.

As you can see, Chanyeol’s IG story at the top shows heavy, thick black/grey curtains, while Baekhyun’s IG post shows seemingly heavy, thick blue curtains, and Baekhyun’s livestream shows once again heavy and thick curtains except brown. It is, however, possible that these are all the same shade curtains except with lighting differences (the first pic of Baekhyun is heavily blue in lighting and the second is heavily brown).

However, I think the first two pictures were taken in the same room (probably the master bedroom) and the brown are another colour in the same curtains for the guest/spare room.

Now I know Baekhyun said “I’m not at the dorms, I live on my own” and then talked about how he enjoys living in his own space and doing things himself. However, I think this was necessary and natural and does not at all contradict the evidence. He can’t really come out and say “ah yeah I’m not at the dorms, I’m at the apartment I share with Chanyeol”. He does live on his own compared to when he used to live with the whole group, so I imagine he was probably just sticking the subject to himself. He also said he wouldn’t be going onto the show “I Live Alone” ㅋㅋㅋ which says to me that he can’t really show his place lol

That's pretty much it so far ! Isn’t today all the proof we need? 💕
