Today was the final day of competition at the Challenge Cup.

Kaori Sakamoto of Japan won the Senior Women's event, while Alexandra Odman of Sweden won the Junior. Sara Conti and Niccolo Macii of Italy won the Senior Pairs event.

There was a Junior Pairs event, but the team was competing unopposed.

4 Quarter Finals, 3 Red cards

A Red card in 75% of Challenge Cup Quarter Final games last weekend. Also 2 yellow cards.

Hull FC: Josh Griffin shown a yellow, then a few seconds later, a red for dissent after the half time hooter.

Wigan Warriors: Kaide Ellis shown a straight red for headbutting in the 6th minute

Leigh Leopards: Kai O'Donnell sees red after a spear tackle. His teammate Zak Hardaker saw a yellow for a dangerous throw.

Is it just me or is the Challenge Cup unnecessary now?

I mean it was a good thing to start. They were the first league back to playing on television (which I think did boost viewership) and the bubble protocols were (if I remember correctly) pretty good.

But do we need to be having the fourth iteration, who can say? However, this year will be better than last year. Last year the whole cup took place between March and (maybe) May. This year it's going to span the April to September with a bunch of games being played during the World Cup break.

AND this year the 4 semifinal teams are splitting a $1 million dollar winner's purse. So that's great.

First time (consciously) watching Sarah Marie Pesch skate, but there's a lot of nice things going on ^.^

I really like how she matches the energy of her music, even though you can see that she's struggling at times.

Looking forward to seeing more of her =)
