Karin herself has said she has no regrets taking the path she has with the Alliance. She's seen so much of the galaxy, has met so many people and made friends (and lovers) over the years that there really isn't anything to regret in her view.

If anything, it might have been wondering what her life could've been like - would she have married? Become a mother? Had grandchildren? - but ultimately, her home is the SSV Normandy, and her family are its crew.

... Maybe one regret might've been skimping out on getting matching tattoos on her ass with her friends on shore leave, back in 2169, though.

Does your muse have any addictions?

➤ Well, the closes she gotten for addiction is gaming addiction due to how much she plays video games at one point in her life. Now, she doesn't do it as often. Not only because she is more busy in her life, but because she is trying to do more in her life than sitting around and playing a game all day.

I may go through with a HC that she may have gotten close to being addicted to something else entirely. With some help - something you can find in her records if you dig hard enough - she turned her life around before she gotten to that point. There's only two people who is aware of this.

Lexi and Teresa's brother. Dr. Chakwas if we go with Teresa being on the Normandy instead of the Tempest.

Ok so. On this day of our lord I discovered everyone in mass effect is probably 10 years younger than I thought, and now I legitimately want to know what the point is of having humans and turians with a 150 year lifespan. So Shepard is young, but I expected that- that's part of the whole "are you sure they're reliable" part of the story. (Tali and Jack are, as well, but again this is a point in the story.) However, you're telling me all the top leadership Shepard interacts with isn't even middle aged? Do we have a leg to stand on to act like the other squad mates are young when almost everyone is around the same age?

With improved healthcare and technology, im shocked there aren't admirals cruising on top secret missions well into their 80's, because, well, they can. They should be fit enough (per the ME information on lifespan and quality of life) to continue serving well into what we would consider 'twilight years.'

Was the decision to age everyone down simply to satisfy romance decisions? Why keep them looking so old ? Do you still look and feel decrepit at 60 but keep kicking until you're 150 in a nursing home completely incapable of caring for yourself? Are there any canon ages in Mass Effect for characters you can interact with that show quality of life for older individuals?

Also how does this affect marriage, family structure, and children? Are women able to carry children safely into their 40's and 50's now? Or do you still need to hurry because your body will decay regardless?

Thinkin’ bout a happy ending Shakarios ending but still angsty and borderline suffering for our fave turian.

I like to think that Thane barely pulls through after his confrontation with Kai Leng by Mordin/Miranda/Chakwas having had placed in some precautionary measures while working for a cure. Example being that Mordin was close to a cure but died before he was able to complete it and thus Miranda/Chakwas had to finish it afterwards and it was a real test of time/resources because of Miranda’s job of finding her sis/father and Chakwas being on the Normandy etc so although Thane pulls through with surgery/lung transplant, I do think he’d be put under for his own healing for a while and it’s 50/50 on him doing very well and then other times it looks like he’s on the verge of death.

So when Shep/Garrus return to the citadel they always spend the majority of time by his side. More so Garrus because Shep HAS to go and meet people/link resources etc. So Garrus and Kolyat spend hours by Thane’s side and it’s also probably when Kolyat opens up to him the most out of them all (Shep too but it’s a little more rough)

When Kolyat has to go to work and if Shep is busy Garrus chooses to stay and even against doc orders he gently maneuvers Thane’s limp body against him in the same cuddle position that Thane liked when they spent time together. It’s his way of letting the drell absorb the heat from Garrus in an otherwise cold hospital room. 🥺

And because I’m a sucker for more pain I hc that Thane’s progress is VERY slow and he’s in a coma for the duration of the war and it’s always a constant “are we delaying the same result?” between him and Shep but neither are willing to let him go and Kolyat and the Normandy crew all provide the most support so they hold onto that hope.

Fast forward to after the war, Garrus walks/runs into the hospital that they told him Shepard was taken too and it’s been months since he and the Normandy returned from crash landing so he’s desperate for good news and the result is yes, Shepard is alive but like Thane, she’s now in a deep coma to help her recover and now Garrus is incredibly lonely and left to wait for the two loves of his life to finally come back to him.

The Normandy crew (grunt, jack maybe) arrange for Thane and Shep to share a room and thankfully no one in the hospital objects and Garrus almost lives in the same room too if it isn’t for Tali/Kaidan/Liara/Wrex forcing him to take breaks.

It’s probably a very long time but Thane would be the first to wake and would probably be incredibly out of it thinking the worst but the moment he and Garrus lock eyes it’s nothing but happy keening and tears streaming down their faces. Thane reaching out for him and Garrus retraining himself from crushing Thane’s (incredibly lanky) form.

And then it would be the encouragement Garrus needs that Shep will come back to them too 🥺

Thinking long and hard about the fact that regardless of his walking out into the debriefing room when Jacob told Shepard they'd done everything they could for him, there was no way Garrus wasn't out for a considerable amount of time before that. Like my general hc at least as far as I've always played it is that they hit the Citadel for a resupply prior to the actual debriefing, and Garrus spent no less than a week on thin ice.

In and out of extensive reconstructive surgery, dealing with blood loss on a massive scale (and I doubt Cerberus anticipated the need for turian blood, synthetic or otherwise, before tossing Shepard into the fire), and basically clinging to life in critical condition while everyone waited to see if they hadn't just gotten him straight up killed while trying to recruit him. Between just using the blue scars mod in both games and really registering the bleed onto the bandage and getting a full look at his neck in ME3, it's clear just how critical the injury was.

Not to mention the fact he was clearly taking body shots before the hit to the face.

Anyway, Garrus absolutely stopped breathing at least twice before Chakwas was able to get him into anything close to stable, and even now he relies on prescription painkillers, as the injuries left him with lasting nerve damage.

Not that he'll actually stop fighting he's too damn stubborn for that.

monastery mission complicated by two things:

Liara's bad attitude, which I hc is enhanced by the fact that, y'know, she's a pureblood. At a higher risk for having been one of the residents here herself. We hear nasty gossip about the child of two asari being ill-tempered and morally and spiritually corrupt. I'm sure Liara heard it too.

&& how my Shepard handled the Morinth mission in ME2, which was interesting.

(She relied more on tactics than anything else --either Samara or Morinth said something to the effect of "your heart's not in it," which Shepard took badly.

And Morinth did turn on the bedroom eyes there at the end. It didn't work in the moment --Shepard's abnormally resilient brain to the rescue-- but several hours later Shepard did have a delayed reaction. Hardly anyone noticed. Only Chakwas, Samara, and Liara ever knew. But walking herself down to the med bay with what felt like every eye on her when she wanted...everything all at once (anything I want, Morinth had said) felt like walking through soup. Also she kept getting stopped, and lbr, the path from her quarters to the med bay passes 80% of the love interests...)

i HC my shepard as from a big family on mindoir. i think one of the things she'd miss most from farm life on a planet would be being able to cook. i like to think that once she retires, she makes an effort to learn recipes from the different alien cultures of her crew members and cooks for them often.

Nothing in specific besides the weird death poses (myself, my squad, and the enemies)

Does killing Kai Leng count? It’s technically a renegade interrupt but I feel like it shouldn’t count.

Ariella chooses Destroy on the Crucible and is put on trial for genocide against the geth afterward 

Chris (and most of his surviving team from Torfan) is briefly kidnapped and held hostage by batarians in retribution

Gina loves strategy games like chess and kepesh yakshi. Her favorite is go.

Mara is a ballerina who taught a beginner class at a studio on Arcturus and would have become a professional dancer if she hadn’t joined the Alliance. 

Veerla was rescued from Mindoir by Anderson and lived with him in London between the raid and her enlisting

I mean come on...Wynne keeps the Warden in line and does the heal thing. 

Then we have Dr Chakwas keeping Shepard alive and supports her and shit. Someone has to since Mama Shepard is off commanding her own ship.

I love them.

Chakwas and Mama Shepard are best friends and Karin watched over kid Shepard while her mom was doing Alliance stuff. I will forever hc this.

So Ariel Shepard is Horrified that she has been brought back to life. She spends so much of her time on the operating table, her reactivated brain forced to slowly sift through memories. Like once brain activity is established, Shepard is bound to dream and its her brain slowly recovering files if its THE Shepard. But Ariel suffered hers in a patchwork of fantasy and reality. Kaidan Alenko shows up to flirt with her in the middle of a gun battle. Anderson sitting where her father should have sat and telling her battle strategies.

Shes not thankful to Liara at all. She didnt want to come back, she couldn't remember anything before the dreaming started but she had been Warm and Safe. And now she was thrust back into the frigid, uncaring entropy of the universe, two years passed and no one has done Fuck All to Prepare for the Fucking Reapers. So she then learns she died for Nothing.

So here she is, game 2, under Cerberus eye and becoming more and more anxious about it. Jeff and Chakwas honestly do A Lot to make her feel a Little more at ease. She considers it a gesture of good will that TIM wont want the pilot who saved the Citadel to be murdered. So at least she could sleep at night. Except shes not shes literally afraid to. She only really sleeps when she kinda passes out. This btw wouldnt Help her with the dreaming bc she Will fall into micro sleeps I Can Attest to It. Its Horrifying do Not do this go See Someone About It )

Tbh when Ariel finds him, she wasnt even thinking about Garrus that much really. Once in a while she wanted to reach out to ask his opinion on...all this. But she doesn't bc Cerberus Is Watching The Email. But then Archangel starts talking and she's like "No Fucking Way" and its Garrus! Garrus! She's so happy its him and more than that, he then Immediately attaches himself at her hip like full on ride or die. Garrus who had her Back in tight situations during me1, who faced down Saren's remains with her and Ashley. Sure he was hot headed, he was the only person she first felt truly Safe around. I don't think Ariel realizes it bc her feelings reveal themselves in very small increments at this point. Hes the worst flirt she's ever fucking seen, hes an absolute nerd bc he impresses her with Math (it works). She just starts to forget her existential dread around him first, which allows her to relax and warm to others.
