the disjointed flavor of having only one world per set is honestly one of the main reasons I haven't been interested in upcoming standards sets for a few years now. hell I haven't been to a prerelease since Throne!! we're never on a plane long enough for me to figure out the story, and I kinda hate that. Eldraine was a story book world and uh Garruk was finally freed from the chainveil. Zendikar was Zendikar but without Eldrazi? Ikoria was a world with big monsters that would Mutate together and I have absolutely no idea what story happened there. and Strixhaven was a college I guess. and a phyrexian showed up at some point. I feel like I'm missing some world, but I honestly don't remember any others. the worlds have honestly just become so forgettable with story points flying so fast that I just don't really care anymore. I've gone from buying way too many packs of the most recent sets, especially considering I haven't played standard since og Theros rotated, to just buying singles for my commander decks. it's been great for my wallet tho!!!
You said that minimum time between visiting planes (other than Dominaria) is five years. So why we're going to visit Innistrad just two months after being there?
You got me! : )
Apparently, the real answer is two months.

Top 10 Products I want from Magic
Stolen from @blogging-phelddagrif here.
In the spirit of the original, not the top ten products, exactly, but things.
1. Cube Product. 360 cards with different frames and/or card backs. A standalone product exclusively for casual play, like a board game for Magic. Possibly with follow-up supplemental/complimentary products like a Conspiracy collection. A curated draft experience for beginner/moderate players you buy and never buy more of just to have a one-and-done Magic product.
I don’t expect WotC to do that, but I’d like it.
2. More creatures in the stories. This one might be weird. I understand that the abilities of planeswalkers are kept vague (to the point of being generic) because actual spells are based very much on the rules of Magic which don’t translate well to the spell-casters-as-superheroes aesthetic MtG fiction is going for. I get that.
But creatures are a big part of the game. A very big part. Super-big. Wow so huge. I appreciate that Liliana, Garruk, and Nissa can occasionally summon creatures within very strict circumstances and Jace is finally making some illusions, but summoning creatures is the game. Nissa has her sword. Chandra has her goggles and Liliana has her chainveil. But artifacts aren’t really a thing. Lands aren’t a thing.
I know writing lands into the story and giving Jace a Chromatic Lantern would be too much, and distracting, and pointless, but I want more creatures. Have Chandra summon a phoenix or a firecat. Gideon is the C-student of spellcasting so I don’t expect much of him, but let Tamiyo summon a damn kami. Something, guys.
3. Unsets every 5 years or so. Unstable has been fun. It’s been a cut above the previous un-sets. I’m a guy who plays Magic for fun, but even I used Unglued and Unhinged to back up card sleeves that held title cards for decks. Basically, stuff that I needed cards for, but which weren’t important enough to call for basic lands.
More un-sets are good. More sets like un-sets are good. But not too much. You can’t take the piss out of things constantly or they deflate. Look at Star Trek’s TNG movies. You gotta eat meat and potatoes to get the pie. The un-sets are clearly the pie and I want to look forward to more pie.
4. That villains set. I know they’ll get to it, especially now that core sets are back, but I really want it. The anti-Gatewatch doesn’t need to be a group of villans cooperating, but simply an administrative group like the Lorwyn 5. It’s fun to root for the bad guys and folks like Tybalt, Sorin, Ashiok, Xenagos, and Kiora are all kinda jerks in their own way (yeah, Xenagos is dead) and it would be great to see them gin up some contrast with the Gatewatch who are generally good people who give a damn.
5. Return to Lorwyn. Lorwyn had a great tone, a cool story (still not 100% resolved), and wholehearted tribal elements. Shadowmoor was a fine execution of hybrid costs and mechanics. I know hybrid is a sometimes food not great as a core mechanic, but it was emblematic of the Lorwyn/Shadowmoor laser-focus on color. Forget Kamigawa and Dominaria; gimme more Lorwyn.
6. More untap. I know it’s not popular, but it was fun and the arrows were self-explanatory. I know triggered abilities are where it’s at and tap abilities on creatures are slow and tap abilities which basically have a hoop to jump through are even less good, but c’mon!
7. Five color tribal commanders. Folks always want a random commander that matches all of [tribe], including the off-color one printed in 1998. Even though [tribe] isn’t mechanically consistent, they want a weird-colored commander so they can cram two [tribe] creatures into the same commander deck. Fuck it. Five-color merfolk with tap/evasion abilities. Five-color elf with mana/weenie abiliies. Five-color zombie with mill/graveyard abilities. Five-color nephilim with a huge bag of D17′s. Five-color goblin with haste and token generation. Five-color demon with cards and sac effects. Five-color angel with denial and flying stuff.
This is kind of a “make people shut up about it” request, but WotC’s reprint of Doomsday and their embrace of Stormcrow memes mean they’re more than willing to do things just to get the community to shut up, so I’m most optimistic about this one.
8. More variants. Planechase is done (it wasn’t very good and I still haven’t met anyone who played it correctly). Conspiracy wasn’t successful (or so I understand). Commander is wearing a bit thin. I’ve heard ‘meh’ things about Explorers of Ixalan. But I like the variants.
I like the different ways to play and the ability to really turn the rules on their head. They probably won’t, but I hope Wizards continues swinging for the fences.
9. Making the dungeon/deckbuilding game WotC wants to make. Hang with me. Planechase gives a series of environments which change the values of the cards. Archenemy makes one player into a de facto DM and the rest into a party. Conspiracy gives specialties in the form of cards like Arcane Savant and Smuggler Captain. The non-Hidden Agenda conspiracies function like class abilities.
All of those things are elements you can assemble together to run a party of Magic players through  “dungeon” of some kind. Magic’s pile of bad to good cards lends itself well to progression (The Bolas archenemy set used this to separate the Chandra and Bolas decks).
So...Wizards should just make it. They should just make the game and let us nerds graduate to turbo-nerd by playing $45.99 for the privilege of playing a CCG-powered RPG/deckbuilding thing.
10. Give Bolas a better plan than making a zombie army. It’s so stupid. Folks are imagining wholesale that lazotep armies are immune to phyresis because that’s the only thing that makes a stupid army of zombies better at doing anything than an elder dragon planeswalker genius.

Wow! I didn't expect you to answer my bombardment of questions! Especially since I (hopefully implied) you didn't have to!
So first, sorry. I think I was leaning into the line of questions as a sort of mad string of questions joke but I think I went too far and you shouldn't have been the recipient of that. I guess I wanted visibility, as egotistic as that sounds.
Next thank you for clearing all that up. This whole line of questioning was all inspired by the situation with Calix, so I hope this can be used as a broad refresher of the known mechanics of spark endownment and ability to the community here and what this could imply about Calix. Notably, that this seems to imply Calix has a soul, (as opposed to most angels which still feels wrong to say) and that Klothys was able to weave a soul into him somehow, or that all nyxborn are fashioned from a soul to start out with.
Also I think relevant to this discussion is the relationship that Eidolons and the Returned have in this discussion. On Theros, the e
Eidolons are supposed to be the personification of the soul of a Returned that are separated from their bodies as cost to cross back to the mortal plane, so is it possible for an Eidolon to become a planeswalker if the spark is part of a soul technically? I mean, I believe it's been said that the spark dissapears upon death, and whatever caused them to die would probably have been traumatic enough to cause them to spark at some point before or as they died, but it's still an entertaining thought, especially as Elspeth is still able to planeswalk. Giving the connection that Eidolons and Nyxborn both share the enchantment card type, it could be implied then that perhaps Nyxborn are constructed using an Eidolon as a base, or could be used for the purpose. Which could neatly explain his whole deal.
What also really gets me is how all this relationship between spark and soul relates in all the oddities we've seen in planeswalkers recently. Is Six bonded to Renn's soul or does the spark protect the whole "body" of a planeswalker? The latter would make a lot of sense if we assume all the microorganisms of a person are not just left behind, thus justifying Six as part of Renn's body, even though they themself have a soul. However, would this only work for a dryad? I believe there is some lore that states (though I might just be mistaken) that some dryads are bonded to a tree, thus is the justification that Six is operating as a medium for Renn's soul? Especially related would be the case of Yanggu and Mowu but, given the fact that we have still not been given a more detailed explanation of what happens to Mowu when Yanggu 'walks, we can't say for sure. I think it will only be really possible to guess at their circumstance once we receive more concrete detail regarding whether Mowu is a statue or not. Otherwise we can't say whether it is a matter of Yanggu bringing a stone as a belonging with him on each walk, like how each planeswalker can bring a limited amount of belongings with them, or Mowu being bonded to, or perhaps a separated part of, Yanggu's soul. Also Kaya's thing about letting other people planeswalk with her could justify it the same way as Renn and Six, but I didn't read the book and I can't remember it clearly, so I'll just gloss over that. (Although that does make me wonder if Kaya's ghosting is related to the same forces that let those in Theros' underworld to materialize a body?)
Then there is the matter of the Blackblade and the Chainveil. The Chainveil hosted the spirits of the Onaake and they travelled everywhere Liliana did. The same is possible for the Blackblade but I'm not sure if it decomposes souls or holds on to them. Could an item then planeswalk by itself should a planeswalker's soul and consciousness be maintained inside, operating the item like a new body? We've seen that Nicol Bolas was able to maintain his spark through bodily death, so if he made a new body that was mechanical and inhabited it, or if he possessed another planeswalker's body, could he still planeswalk? Then again, that sort of ability might have only been possible with a premending planeswalker's power and Bolas could just be an exception due to a host of things, from manner of bodily death, to natural extra-exceptionality and mastery of everything that is granted to elder dragons in magic, so who knows if that is even possible to theorize on.
I've gone on for too long about this anyways but it's impossible to ignore how fascinating this all is to me. The storytellers at Magic have manage to create a model of a universe where adding a new character with a gimmick can have the same impact on our understanding of its cosmology, theology, and physics, as a paradigm shift in theoretical physics. I love that so many people are so passionate about it too! I just wish everyone could remember their manners at the same time...
I kind of buried the lead with my last question so first off: apologies. My question about Karn's "soul" I guess is really the question of does a spark needs to be tethered to a soul? With Karn we could assume his spark (a.k.a. Venser's spark) is tethered to the heart/powerstones in his body But Teferi's was caught (reconstituted?) in a powerstone which may have the energy of a collapsing dimension, but I don't think it has a soul? Can you hold a spark in a box? Is Venser's soul inside Karn???
And more
And Phyrexians can't hold sparks so do they lose their souls when their compleated? Are Phyrexians all technically techno-organic zombies? If someone tried to transfer their spark to a Phyrexian, would they even be able to hold on to it? We've seen that having a spark can give immunity to phyrexian oil so would giving a spark to a phyrexian purge the phyrexian part like Karn? It's so ponderous. ...
Okay, so first off, the spark is a part of the soul. Specifically a soul that has the touch of the Blind Eternities still on it. Something without a soul can’t have a spark unless, like Karn, there is some work around.
Teferi imbued the power of his spark into the rift to restore Shiv. Jhoira gathered that energy inside a powerstone, which Teferi used to become a planeswalker again. Powerstones can contain souls - that’s where heartstones come from.
My headcanon for why early Phyrexians couldn’t have sparks is because they deliberately siphoned off their souls into the heartstones as they were grown. Nowadays, I think it’s more akin to techno-organic zombies.
The spark DOES NOT confer immunity to Phyrexian oil. That’s an often misunderstood piece of lore. Venser, Koth, and Elspeth were granted immunity from Melira. That’s what cured Karn, not Venser’s spark.

Feeling illegitimate because I'm in a mono relationship. via /r/polyamory
Feeling illegitimate because I'm in a mono relationship.
I've already posted about the whole issue of my gf dumping me and her husband. I've mostly gotten over it, but this makes me currently mono-hetero by circumstance (I have a bf and no one else right now). I've been going on dating websites again of late (OKC and Taimi) and it's just become so insipid. Unicorn hunters everywhere of late (I'm in France, where the poly community is basically non existent except in Paris). Even though I know my identity through and through as a bisexual poly woman, I feel suddenly awkward discussing poly or lesbian issues. I feel like I've lost my "right" to talk about it. I know this is completely irrational, but I was wondering if anyone went through a similar phase? I know it's quite awkward sometimes for bi people in exclusive hetero relationships because they feel invisible and stigmatised by some LGBT people.

#wip from @reaperminiatures Lurien the ghost. I thought she would make a really cool Liliana, because I wanted to give those stupid demon lines a try, I might sculpt a tiny chainveil since she all powered up. I can see why a lot of artists don't do the lines, they are a pain, especially on a 28mm miniature! #painting #reaperminiatures #necromancer #lilianavess #miniature #painting

So, I heard Venser worked in achieving interplanar transporting technology, up to what point did he got? Separate question, would soul be able to go between planes carried with a spark bearer,as with the Chainveil's souls? Would some planeswalker with a bottle of full of geist arrive with them?
Venser had started building a skyship that he believed was capable of interplanar teleportation. It was was made Koth furious at him, cover his head in stone, and force him to go to Mirrodin.
Other Question: It depends. Shades have hitched rides on short trips through the blind eternities before, so as long as it was on the planeswalker’s person, I don’t see why not. Jace’s whole plane to save his buddy Kallist was to take Kallist’s mind into his own, planeswalk, and then implant him in someone else.
