Despite everything that went wrong on 14 May 2016, my first concert experience was made magical by ARR and team. He calmly had the composed smile etched, despite all the hurdles and mishaps that took place on that day.

All these years, I have loved his music and respected him for the humble human being he is. But after this concert, I have developed even more respect for this man. He put the safety of everyone in the stadium above everything else. To use electronic musical instruments in a wet environment or have the singers and dancers perform on a slippery wet floor was a total risk that he burdened to his shoulders. This is something anyone would have hesitated doing and I am sure the decision making dilemma was a painful process.

As we all kept our fingers crossed and was praying hard that all should be safe, the entire team completely blew us off by their non-stop power packed performances. Watching them perform my favourite ARR hits live was a total delight. The musicians rocked with pure grace. And watching the man himself run his fingers across the keyboard was a pure bliss. Left me craving for more. I will always be looking forward for such another magical experience.

He is a LEGEND for a reason. The way he managed the crisis and dared to take the risk is truly an inspiration. Something that every single soul that witnessed the concert in the rain will keep remembering all their life. This will go down in history. There was only LOVE and NOTHING BUT LOVE spread-out the entire stadium. His farewell tears was an intense emotional moment that totally sunk our hearts. The man's humility knows no bound. We were totally drenched in his soulful music and humbleness.

All for the love of music. All for the love of ARR.

Music is my escape. It silences the world and all my worries.

While the world was busy releasing love singles, this team chose that very date to release a singles that contains a social issue that truly needs some dosage of love injected to it.

Everyone deserves equal opportunity to experience life regardless of their gender choice. This is no sin nor curse.

I have no words to comprehend the depth of the reality induced visuals by Kiruthiga, the soulful lyrics by Vivek, nor the haunting composition of Santhosh Narayanan. There will be moments where your heart will just sink.

If you have a transgender family member or friend, hold them by the shoulder today and reassure them that you will stand by them. Let's embrace and accept them just as they are.

Idhayam

Another recent Valentine’s Day special musical treat was Idhayam, which was beautifully rendered by Arjun Rao and composed by the super duo BalanRaj and M.Jagathees.

The lyrics, music and vocal of Idhayam was simply the perfect blend combo. It beautifully reflected the feelings of a guy’s throbbing soul over the loneliness of being separated from his lady love. The song and the music video was cleverly crafted on a guy's state of desperation, helplessness and vulnerability.

With Arjun’s captivating voice and vocal style, listeners definitely can’t help but be drawn into the melancholic passion of this song. He has a fantastic voice control that allows for soft breathy vocals that soothes the soul.

The simplicity of the instrumentation usage by BalanRaj and M.Jagathees adds to the emotion of the song and makes it hit the depth of one's soul. The melody beat is difficult not to fall in love with - being melancholy and deeply emotive. The last beat portion created an absolute suspense heart-racing feel - even if it was just for a few seconds!

Idhayam is a commendable example of song writing at its best. Balanraj’s lyrics takes the listeners on a journey down memory lane and leaves them longing for more. The lyrics gives listeners a sad yet benevolent feeling - with simplicity and ease to enjoy the deep meaning of the lyrics. It inspires magic into our soul, instils wonder into our mind & stirs passion into our heart.

Idhayam is a love song with addictive rhythm that points out that deep mysterious and unexplainable feeling we experience when we become deeply moved and impassioned by a loved one.

You can keep listening to this song repeatedly, and the music video artfully jumps from one memory to another - painting stories that we can relate to of love found, beauty that it sows and the pain we bear when disappointed.

The story in the music video is a beautiful match for the song, showing that the one you love the most is capable to hurt you the worst.

Idhayam is indeed a complete package of perfection - be it music, lyrics or singing. It is worth every piece of praise that is mounting every day. A song with a definite soul in it!

The Malaysian Indian music industry has come a long way in music and vocal quality, haven’t we? That is definitely something to be proud of. All possible because we have such amazing talents!

Hawa Hawa

Definitely we have all not forgotten the famous "Hawa Hawa" comedy suicide scene involving Indian evergreen comedian duo Gaundamani - Senthil from the Indian movie Cheran Pandian. The title of this song was inspired from that famous comedy scene. In fact, the song starts and ends with Gaundamani & Senthil dialogues of - “I am very happy, start music” at the opening and “Adra sakka adra sakka” at the closing of the song. This would have definitely brought back a lot of memories to listeners on rolling on the laughing for their comedy scenes.

The techno based music by Kash Villanz was rather peppy and catchy, especially the chorus and rap sections. The rhyming rap portions by Kash Villanz and Maney Villanz will definitely get you humming the tune – as you sway along.

Hawa Hawa was a Valentine’s Day Special release, with the song’s main story speaking from the point of a guy, who is proposing his lady love and she has yet to accept him. It also came with timely lyrics on various aspects – from friendship, marriage, new age love, the implications of technology in new age love, the influences of social media, technology-pro kids to modern age ladies. It was a walk down memory lane, comparing the old times (e.g. letter writing) to the recent times (e.g. electronic messaging), and how everything has changed so drastically. This was indeed interesting and creative – as we could all relate the lyrics to the happenings we observe in our daily lives. It was rather nostalgic.

Mixing the Ghana inspired rustic voice of Indian singer Ghana Bala and techno music was simply brilliant. The Ghana tone helped convey perfectly his mix feelings of hope and disappointment against his lady love – which fitted just right for the theme.

Since the music video comes with written lyrics, it tempts listeners to sing along as they get enjoy the meaning of the song even more easily. The lyrics was simple and straightforward, making it easy to grasp across different ages.

Pudichu Pudichu

Yet another song released in conjunction of Valentine’s Day was Pudichu Pudichu composed by composer/arranger/songwriter Ravi Arziyaan from Paris. The song was romantically rendered by three vocalists - Ramnath RNB, Vandana Srinivasan and Saint TFC. While Ramnath and Saint are our local favourite duo, Vandana is a classical music trained singer hailing from Chennai, India.

The song is loosely based on the exchange of emotions between a girl and a guy in love with each other based on the simple act of holding hands. The combo of lively melody and depthful lyrics was indeed romantic, nostalgic and emotional. The song was full of happiness and filled with lots of love.

Pudichu Pudichu is definitely addictive, with soul touching moments especially the melody portions of the stanzas where the music morphs into the smoother slower melody. You will be able to appreciate every single word of the lyrics while swaying to the techno peppy music.

It is indeed a great effort to keep the lyrics almost 99% in Tamil, while only the rap portions at the beginning has a tad bit of English. This is definitely something applaudable. Kudos to Ramnath and Saint on this.

The sweetness and emotions expressed in Vandana’s voice was simply mesmerising. All three vocalist hit a captivating harmony which showcases raw emotional nerve in a great way.

Ravi Arziyaan’s expertise shines through this song as it is expertly paced and has a hypnotic beat. The overall tone of the song is very upbeat. It’s one of those songs that gets stuck in your head all day and your day is better for it. This song has a rare effect of being able to make one feel happy and emotional at the same time and this a beautiful experience.

The talented duo Ramnath RNB and Saint TFC has done an excellent job in capturing the feeling of being head over heels with the love of your life in one song. They both have continuously evolved as musicians, without losing any of the high energy their music contains. Their rap style will definitely resonate with a large audience as the song is based more on soulful lyrics, than just the typical lyrical rhymes.

The video to go along with this song was done in a very space-age style which accompanies the futuristic sound that the music portrays very well.

The song has a great positive vibe. If you enjoy easy listening jam with nice rhythm, Pudichu Pudichu would be a treat.

Pudichu Pudichu is definitely a perfect dedication for your better half. Keep sharing and spreading the love. Good music is hard to find, but good for the soul.

Cellphone Kaadhal

We have seen various avatars of our very own refined and versatile actor/director Haridhass – as an actor, director, dancer, photographer and narrator. His latest addition to all his avatars has been singing. His first singles Kulir Margazhi Thuralil was released in 2014, based on the theme of melancholic love, with a short poetry recital by him at the beginning.

Cellphone Kaadhal is his second singles. He has also produced this singles, adding another avatar as a music producer.

Being a total opposite theme to his first singles, Cellphone Kaadhal expresses our modern day love so beautifully light and breezy. It was indeed very creative of BalanRaj to form the lyrics within the context of mobile communications related words in both stanzas. Kudos to his top notch creativity in creating such a harmonious connection between these words and the feel of love excitement and intoxication.

When it comes to singing, Haridhass’s two biggest strength is his unique signature voice tone and layers of expression in his voice. He completely pulled it off as he incorporated the feel of the song in every lyric perfectly. Haridhass has successfully proven himself in every venture, as he continues to test his boundaries and supersede his achievements. We hope to hear him singing more often, experimenting various genres.

Thayashne is not exactly new to singing as we have watched her sing from young, winning various singing competitions. We are proud to note that she has grown into a young lady with such melodious voice. With a long way ahead of her singing career as she is still young, we wish that she will reach greater heights and achievements.

Both their depthful voices blended well into this soul soothing duet on new age love. Certain lyrics were further enhanced using the double voice technique to create a depth mirage.

The music by the talented duo BalanRaj and Jagathees is melodiously peppy and allows you to sway along, especially the chorus portions. A definite treat for music lovers. Get your headsets ready as it unleashes the full potential of this song, when heard on headset.

In short, it is a work of musical art put together so creatively.
