#chai the lycanroc

Just got back from the park with Chai. We had lots of fun, she chased all kinds of bright leaves that were falling. Met a rockruff who she played with for a few minutes.

But the highlight was most certainly watching a 1v1 battle on the battleground. There was a young trainer I believe from Alola with her popplio, and another trainer who had a few years on her with their bayleef.

I only started watching a few minutes after they started, but I swear that poor girl couldn't get a single hit in. For such a large pokemon, that Bayleef was incredibly agile.

Her popplio ended up in rough shape a few minutes in, and it was looking pretty bad. Most trainers would've called it quits at this point, but something in this pair just refused to back down. There was one moment where she even did a little dance and cheer(?) and her popplio did it back. It was very cute.

All that to say, when they finally managed to get a single hit in, everyone watching and a few pokemon walkers burst into cheers. Even the other battler threw their fists up and let out a great roar. Chai howled. It was a very unifying moment, seeing this young trainer finally manage something she'd clearly been trying very hard at.

The bayleef team still won. But she didn't even care. She was grinning ear to ear and gave her popplio all of the belly rubs. (I believe this was a hit for points battle and not to exhaustion battle) The other trainer came up to shake her hand, and then scooped her up in a big hug and spun her around a few times. She was absolutely giddy and it was rather infectious.

So, that was a nice thing to see today. Watching young trainers is always interesting, and it makes me think about how my life may have been if I'd been allowed to go on my own pokemon journey. Chai also seems very excited to watch battles, even on TV.

It's a bit of a sore spot as well, seeing all the common childhood experiences I missed out on.

I know some start their journey later then others. But... I'm not sure they do when they're in their 20's.

i didn’t realize that only the ‘’’special’’’ rockruff you download from mystery gift is the only one who can evolve into dusk-form lycanroc, so i’ve been training a normal rockruff 

but it’s okay. i’m still gonna get the dusk form one for my team but i’m going to make a team of all of them. the daytime one is gonna be named chai, the midday one is pumpkin, and the midnight one is cinnamon.

Hello all. I have been a bit absent, my apologies.

Work has been rather busy, as some teams have been acting up and getting in the way of our project development.

Chai is doing very well. We have located her trainer and he has been taken in for questioning. The establishment she came from is being investigated, slowly but surely. They've put up quite a few barriers and are not very cooperative, but we'll get there.

My ranger friend has been bringing me food lately. I've been forgetting to eat at work, so he is insisting. He's a good cook.

Hii, I remember you got a lycanroc right? How are they doing currently?

Chai is currently out on the balcony with her nose between the bars to look at the people on street.

She's doing very well. She's calmer on walks now and doesn't seem as nervous. She finds outside very stimulating, but she's been adjusting. Her appetite is excellent, and she very much enjoys being brushed. Im very proud of her progress.

OK so I agree with you on Chai, but I can also see him having a Lycanroc Midday 1) for the rock pun 2) they kinda look similar to me so Aesthetic I guess. He would totally have both on his team.

808 should be a Purrloin. Their whole thing is that they act like regular cats but can stand up bipedal in order to Steal. 808 is also a normal cat that can be bipedal when need be.

Peppermint should also have a Rotom.

Macaron should have a Bewear.

CNMN should have a Magnemite or some other Steel friend.

Korsica has a Noctowl. I also want her to have a Vivillon now. Maybe an Oricorio too.

It just fits imo.

i have more than enough WIPs to keep me busy but thinking about what Pokémon could match the HFR cast.

Like, there’s no doubt that Chai would have Amped Toxtricity (or maybe Electivire because of the reverb gauge?), at least until there’s another similar ‘mon with red colors, but for the rest it’s got a lot of room.

Both shiny Umbreon and Luxray kinda share a lot of characteristics with 808, so maybe one of those for Peppermint? Can’t think of any silver-and-green pokémon that quite match Macaron’s personality; and it’d be funny if Korsica had a Porygon-Z despite her job, but her colors also match Modern Vivillon quite nicely and they are part Flying. Hmmm…

I know you're probably not an expert since you only recently got your pokemon, but do you have any advice on lycanroc care? My rockruff just came back after evolving and I want to treat her well. I've gotten plenty of information from my local pokecenter and the internet, but I'd like to hear about experiences from other trainers if possible. Any and all advice appreciated!!

Lycanrocs are very active pokemon, they enjoy excersize in many forms and playing with their trainers is a popular past time. They are very similar to dogs, but do still have a bit of wildness in them. Their energy levels stay about the same, so combined with their size it can be a bit problematic. I highly recommend getting them active regularly, and establish/reestablish any necessary training soon after evolving. Consistency is key, as they do mellow out more with some time.

Also, the different time forms do have some influence. Im not sure of specifics, but one thing I've heard is they seem to be more active during their respective times. This can be managed with planning of course, but it's something to be aware of.

Lycanrocs are very individual pokemon, but I've found Chai very rewarding. Im sure you and your companion will do very well together.

I think we're naming her Chai. He said it was like her, sweet and a little spicy. Warm and cozy, filled with love. I think it's very fitting.

Hello, I am Albedo. He/They please.

I am a researcher currently living in Johto, specifically Goldenrod city. I work mostly in biology and chemistry, I enjoy studying the natural makeup of things and how to use or alter it.

I made this blog mostly to learn and discuss things with others. Pokemon aren't my specialty, so I thought it would be beneficial to learn from people who have more experience with them. Also my guardian said socializing was "good for me". This has yet to be proven, but I'll keep testing it. (Lest she make me socialize with *her* friends)
