takes place some time after the current chapter (ch 146/145) but doesn’t really contain any spoilers or anything.

I’m pretty sure that Kakashi hasn’t actually met Sai — Sai was at Naruto’s going away party, but Kakashi was in the hospital for chakra exhaustion. I didn’t check this very closely tho.

also i’m pretty sure that Shikako hasn’t told anyone about her water whip thing but I only like… scanned the Wave arc for that so who knows.

There’s a stranger in Team 7’s training ground.

It’s not like Kakashi or his students ever actually book the training ground, because it’s rare for anyone but them to chose to train so close to the memorial, and most of the people who might consider it know that it’s Team Kakashi’s space. Still, there’s always some wayward unobservant chūnin or fresh genin looking for a place to train, and occasionally they end up here. They’re always easy to scare off, and if they get snotty Kakashi sends them to Gai’s training ground for all the training they can stand.

(This is a punishment for them and a favor to Gai. He loves helping.)

The boy in the field is about the age of Kakashi’s precious not-genin-any-more genin and he’s not even training. He’s leaning up against the training posts, lapdesk out, drawing. Kakashi will give him this: it’s an unorthodox use of a training field.

“Aa, this seems like something you could be doing anywhere,” Kakashi says as he drops into view.

The boy is not surprised. He looks up at Kakashi calmly and gives a slow blink. “I believe there are several locations where this would be difficult,” says the boy.

A shiver walks up Kakashi’s spine. The blandness of the boy’s expression, the flat look in his eyes… he’s not confused, or annoyed, or nervous. He’s not anything, not like he should be with Kakashi standing over him and hinting that he should get out.

Tenzō had been the same way when Kakashi met him. Untouchable and untouched. Not missing social cues so much as not even attempting to look for them, sorting every interaction into Orders and Not Orders. And Tenzō had had the same bland tantō, the same standard-issue shoes and slightly subpar equipment pouches.

“I have training scheduled here,” Kakashi says, “so this is about to become one of those places.” He does not waste a smile or a cheerful, friendly tone on this boy. He speaks flatly, directly.

Kakashi is the boy’s superior and he will order him away if that’s what it takes to keep Danzō’s grasp from closing in around his kids.

The boy smiles, a rearrangement of his face with no feeling behind it. “I checked the training ground bookings and no one was scheduled to use this field,” says the boy. “But I think we are here for the same training partner, because you were Nara Shikako’s jōnin-sensei.”

“Don’t be rude, I’m still her sensei,” Kakashi says, and then gives the boy a second look with this new information. “You must be Sai.”

“I am,” says the boy, and now Kakashi feels rude.

And even more worried, because Naruto has described his and Shikako’s occasional mission partner as ‘kinda weird, but good, y’know?’ and Kakashi had had no idea that Shimura Danzō had managed to get one of his lackies so close to the kids. What in the fuck is Tsunade thinking.

“I’ve heard a lot about you,” Kakashi says. “Why don’t we spar? I have to make sure Shikako-chan’s teammates can keep up.”

Kakashi had thought that he could depend on Tsunade to keep unsuitable mission partners away from his team, but apparently not. He’ll have to get a little more hands on, starting with a good evaluation of Sai.

“Yes,” Sai agrees blandly. “It is good to know if someone precious to you has teammates they can trust.”

The problem with ROOT agents is that you can’t even tell when they’re being threatening. Tenzō used to say things like, ‘I’ll gut you like a fish’ in the same tone of voice he’d say ‘I’ll lend you my whetstone’ and that tone of voice was wrong for both.

Sai tucks his drawings away and they fight. Sai is good, but uninventive. He uses a lot of the same moves Tenzō started out with, at least right up until he pulls out a scroll and a brush.

Kakashi has had this skill of Sai’s described to him a couple times by Naruto, with lots of enthusiasm and little technical detail, so he’s not surprised when chakra constructs leap of the page but he is surprised at how fast Sai can produce them. Faster than any Kurama Kakashi has ever known, although that’s not saying much — the clan heir that Anko is teaching is maybe the only one who’s ever attempted to use the Kurama clan jutsu for combat, a choice that has Shikako’s fingerprints all over it — and Sai has the advantage of working without color.

Shikako shows up when Kakashi is closing in on destroying Sai’s last ink beast. She lingers on the edge of the training field, cautious as always about interrupting even a spar as lazy as this one.

(Well, lazy for Kakashi. Sai has worked up quite a sweat. He’s not entirely useless, but he’s still probably the enemy.)

When Kakashi stops and looks towards where Shikako is waiting, Sai halts, too. Shikako practically bounces onto the field moments later.

“Sorry I’m late, Kofuku-oba trapped me with more questions about Shika’s arm seal,” she says. “Hi, sensei! I see you met Sai. And stuff.”

“Yes, we’re acquainted now,” Sai says. “I have been assessed to see if I have weaknesses that may lead to you being injured or killed while working with me.”

“Okay,” Shikako says slowly. She looks at Kakashi critically. “I’m sure that’s not exactly what you meant, right Kakashi-sensei?”

“I was just curious about his combat skills,” Kakashi says innocently. “Naruto is terrible at explaining things, you know.”

“Don’t bully my friends,” Shikako chides, like an academy teacher lecturing pre-genin to share their kunai.

“How come you always assume the worst of your poor sensei?” Kakashi complains. “I just wanted to make sure he wouldn’t break on one of your rough, scary missions.”

“It was a good spar,” Sai says. “I enjoyed having my skills assessed.”

Shikako looks suspiciously between them, dissatisfied, but eventually decides to move on.

“Fine,” she says, and claps her hands together. “Since sensei is so interested in making sure your combat skills are developed and well-rounded—”

“I never said that,” Kakashi objects, uselessly, because he can see where this is going.

“—he can teach you some new things!” Shikako says. “He knows lots of water jutsu, you know.”

“You teach him some water jutsu,” Kakashi demands.

Shikako blinks at him. “I don’t know any? I mean I guess there are some in that book you gave us, but…”

“You used water whip months ago,” Kakashi says. “Without seals. Teach him that, it’s B-rank.”

“What?” Shikako asks. “When do you think you saw me do a B-rank — are you talking about the chūnin exams?”

Kakashi says, “I understand it can be hard to remember what exactly you pulled out in the heat of the moment.to please the crowd.”

“You said that your chūnin exam fights in Grass weren’t very interesting,” Sai observes.

Shikako is such a liar. It’s actually almost embarrassing.

“Really?” Kakashi asks, keeping his voice mild and raising his visible eyebrow at Shikako. “I guess we remember those fights very differently. But you definitely used water whip.”

“Sensei, I did not,” grumbles Shikako. She crosses her arms and gets that look that says she thinks she’s going to say something embarrassing. “It’s just a dumb chakra trick. For chakra control. I can’t just teach it to someone unless they want to spend a year or two messing around with it.”

“A… chakra control exercise,” Kakashi repeats.

“I think it becomes a technique once you attack someone with it successfully,” Sai offers.

Shikako says, “Well, it didn’t really do anything.”

“That’s because you were attacking the Kazekage,” Kakashi says dryly. “What kind of chakra control exercises have you been doing?”

“I made some up,” Shikako says, which doesn’t answer the question.

“You attacked a foreign Kage?” Sai asks. He actually manages to sound like… something. Worried, maybe? It’s probably Kakashi’s ears playing tricks on him.

“He wasn’t the Kazekage yet,” Shikako grumbles.

She gets so petulant when people start talking about her like she’s impressive. It’s adorable.

“Show us your chakra trick.” Kakashi waves in the general direction of the stream. “It’s a good learning experience for all of us.”

“Sensei, you’re not getting out of teaching Sai something,” Shikako warns him, but she does lead them over to the stream and show them her water whip.

It starts with water scooped out of the stream into a hollow ball of chakra. The chakra becomes a cylinder. The cylinder becomes a whip, and Shikako uses it to smack an impressive splash out of the stream. Water, she explains, is noncompressible. Also she doesn’t really know how to use a whip but it’s an easy shape to make and more impressive than a staff..

How is it that Shikako still manages to surprise him all the time?

“How long can you hold that?” Kakashi asks.

Shikako shrugs. “I don’t know, I’ve never tried to test it. Two hours? More?”

“Well, I guess if your fight lasts that long it won’t be chakra exhaustion that gets you,” Kakashi acknowledges.

“Oh,” says Shikako. “No, that’s not what I meant. After a couple hours the chakra bleed would mean that I wouldn’t be able to reabsorb any of the chakra, it’d be all used up. But I’d still be able to make another one.”

Kakashi huffs. “Chakra cycling. For external chakra manipulation. And you didn’t think you should mention that?”

Shikako’s brow furrows. “Is it a big deal?”

Is it a big deal, she asks. Kakashi wants to laugh and cover his face. Instead he says, “You’re probably right that you can’t teach Sai that. So, fine. Water jutsu. But I want something in return. I want…”

Kakashi turns to Sai and lets a sliver of ominous intent work its way into the air between them.

Kakashi draws the moment out, watching the way Sai reacts — his shoulders pull back, his stance evens out. Preparing to take a blow, literal or metaphoric, but not scared for his safety, likely because he registers that Shikako is exasperated by Kakashi’s dramatics rather than concerned.

Tenzō used to tense by relaxing to accept a blow just the same way, especially when it came to receiving instruction. Kakashi catches himself planning how to fix that in Sai, too, and kind of hates himself for his own predictability. Maybe, at least, he can introduce Sai to Tenzō and his kohai will do most of the work?

“…drawings of my ninken,” Kakashi completes.

Sai’s eyes open a little wider. His mouth falls open for just a moment and he feels the need to glance at Shikako as it to make sure Kakashi is serious. His surprise is immensely satisfying.

Carefully — probably unsure if this counts as backtalk or intel gathering — Sai asks, “How many ninken do you have?”

“Lots! Which is why he’ll give you one jutsu for each drawing,” Shikako interjects, before Kakashi can snow Sai into doing all that work for one C-rank water jutsu. A look at Shikako shows she’s definitely going to stick to that, too. No arguing her down with that look.

Damn.

“Fine,” Kakashi says, aiming his best woe-is-me face at Shikako. “You work this old man so hard.”

She laughs at him. “Someone has to,” she says, like coercing him into sharing his precious jutsu with random Danzō minions is some kind of public service she provides for the good of the village.

At least now Kakashi will be able to keep a closer eye on Sai. The boy can’t very well disappear into whatever muck Danzō usually has him wading through when he owes Kakashi eight dog portraits. Shikako looks so satisfied by this arrangement that Kakashi wonders if this is exactly what she had planned.

Shikako's told us a lot about what other people's chakra feels like to her, but I was wondering (if you had any thoughts on) what her chakra felt like to other sensors?

:D Okay, anon, so in my completely non-canonical and outsider opinion on this, I actually headcanon that Shikako’s way of describing other people’s chakra is one of the few things that carry on from her previous life/“chakra hypersensitivity.”

The way she/SQ describes chakra in terms of sensations–warm sunshine, static and ozone, glowing embers, descending twilight, bubbling brook–it’s very much like someone trying to explain color to someone colorblind. (Or, at least, what I have been trained to understand in media as someone trying to describe color. I legit have no idea if that’s just a hollywood thing or an IRL thing. The only colorblind people I know have only mild forms of deuteranopia and it’s mostly a problem in trying to figure out where on the spectrum certain colors stop and others begin.)

What is green? It’s freshly cut grass and the calming scent of tea. What is red? It’s passionate like fire, the bright burst of sweetness of strawberries in the summer. Blue is the ocean, cool and deep, etc.etc.

So I always figured that chakra sense is literally another sense that we, as readers in a world without chakra, can only experience via the sensation-descriptions that Shikako/SQ give us.

Which, I think, is also kind of why Shikako is unprecedentedly keen at being a chakra sensor. Kind of like color blindness being able to see through camouflage? Most sensors cannot tell what jutsu was used in a certain place and how long ago and in what direction it went. It is, after all, why Shikako got that special jounin rank.

With other chakra sensors I think their abilities are very in the moment. They can tell you how many people are coming and how far away they are. They can tell you how much chakra a person has left (relative to their capacity) and how much chakra they themselves can exert.

Shikako doesn’t have this. Shikako is known to have a problem with… not controlling her chakra necessarily but… moderating it. Regulating it? If that makes any sense. She has and WILL use every last dregs of her chakra and think she’s still okay to walk around afterwards. She pulls her chakra in to the point where even non-sensor Kakashi gets alarmed, and doesn’t realize how weird that may feel to other people.

It’s also why Jiraiya is VERY CONCERNED that she can sense natural energy since that’s not usually something a non-sage can sense. Shikako perceives human/animal-produced chakra and natural energy with the same “sense” whereas other chakra-sensors can only perceive human/animal chakra. Shikako is using a different sense or is interpreting it in a different way.

So I guess in a very roundabout way I’m saying that other sensors are very baffled by Shikako’s chakra. She has a very active regulation of her chakra–I headcanon that the bouts of her passing out as a child as per Sunshine Sidestories Ch 17 is that she hadn’t yet figured out the trick to subconsciously producing chakra. Or rather, while she was still new to the Naruto world, she was too aware of it and kind of…

You know how when you realize you’re breathing and then you become too conscious of breathing and then your pattern gets all weird until you forget about it and then it’s just back to something you do normally? Yeah. Like, Shikako’s body subconsciously will produce chakra but in the early years she was too aware of chakra because of her “hypersensitivity” and so she had to manually produce chakra until it became (like the enhancing her muscles with chakra, like breathing) just something she could do without thinking. (Which is kind of the “epiphany” she has in the fifth installment of Flip To The Last Page)

Yeah. So, very strange for other sensors. If I had to attach normal chakra sense to a RL sense, it’d probably be sound. Which explains why most normal chakra sensors can’t perceive natural energy because it’s just always there and if you’ve always lived with natural energy then there is no change in “sound” for you to hear so it just gets filtered out. Either that or natural energy is at a “frequency” outside of normal chakra sense the way some sounds can be heard by animals but not humans.

So for these listening chakra sensors, Shikako’s chakra is kind of like listening to someone whose volume kind of jumps all of the place for no perceivable reason. Or maybe if its music then the tempo changes for no reason. With other people volume/rhythm corresponds to how much chakra they have left and how they feel emotionally, with Shikako it’s just kind of all over the place. Sense of hearing also goes with the whole “their sense helps in the moment and even at a range, but not after a period of time” since there’s no leftover sound for them to pick up.

Whereas Shikako’s chakra sense is probably more like RL sense of touch. It’s been said before with trying to follow the “heat” of the earth walking jutsu. And it would kind of explain how she can perceive natural energy even though it’s always around and (minus, perhaps the Dead Wastes of the Gelel shrine) her body has never been in a world without natural energy. Like… people who live in one place their entire lives know what humidity is (or lack thereof, for us desert peeps) and don’t have to know what a different humidity is like to know that the air is wet or dry.

If that makes any sense…

So yeah.

Other chakra sensors look for the changes in chakra around them (like sound is vibrations in the air) and to them Shikako is pretty much that one radio station that doesn’t know how to moderate their volume between songs and doesn’t have a set music genre either.

First time i'm writing on THAT blog (following it's progress since it's creation) i realized that of all the cast, jun and MC were the most traumatized of Kurama attack they Saw first hand what happen (gruesome injured for MC and jun with his mom) the others only seeing the aftermath. Jun makes me believe that if he meets baby Naruto he's gonna be hostile. Inoru and Asahi are like a mix of Naruto/Sasuke (rivalry) and Sakura/ino (crushing on MC) lol -sarah

I’m assuming you read this ask !

I would definitely agree that mc and Jun would be the most traumatized, with mc being at the hospital during the attack, and Jun being the only ro/ main character that did any fighting in addition to watching his mother die.

But behind them would be shikako- she has an anxious personality so even tho her and her mom were, in the end, safe at home she was worrying about her dad the whole time while hearing the destruction around them.

And then Niko- who’s father died while they were safe in a bunker, and then Inoru- who was at his teammates house during the attack but his dad had to have his leg amputated after everything was over.

The others did for the most part just witness the aftermath.

Jun and naruto lol, I think juns feelings towards naruto would be more complex than he’d show. On the outside he’d just ignore him like everyone else, and wouldn’t want to talk about him at all. He has mixed feelings about him. Jun is more hostile (inwardly) to the main branch hyugas. As it’s them he really blames for his mothers death, not naruto.

And Asahi and Inoru 😂 you can definitely compare them to sasuke and naruto 😂 and just a little sakura and ino (tho that part would probably only be seen if you romance Asahi lol)

how do the ros fare with scary movies?

Asahi - points out that it's just fake to reassure the ones who are scared.

Niko - may or may not be crying.. don't ask them they'll deny it.

Shikako - hiding behind a blanket, clinging to the closest person.

Inoru - tries to act tough but screams during the jump scares, scaring everyone else. tries to play it off (no one believes him).

Rona - not really a fan of horror movies (they don't scare her) so she's on snack duty, making popcorn, getting drinks, etc.

Jun - complains about the main characters making stupid decisions.

Chai - screams at everything even if it's not a jump scare. / tries to challenge herself to watch the whole thing without hiding her eyes (fails, cries about it)

Mokoto - is enjoying this so much, watching everyone else's reactions. / will randomly scare everyone by screaming during a quiet scene or go to the bathroom and come back sneaking up and "BOO!!!" -ing someone.

Ryoku - watches in silence, no one knows if he's scared or enjoying it.

Kougetsu - loses the plot, has to keep asking questions interrupting it for everyone else. / screams during the killing scenes but not from fear.

hi hi!!!! RO ask here. So, this is a bit specific of an ask but im sending it anyway!! so, for an MC embraces their medical-ninja role, what would the ROs reactions be to MC fretting and worrying over them whenever they get hurt, even minor injuries?

asahi: is very responsible when it comes to injuries, would happily let mc take care of him. thanks mc, complimenting their skills the whole time. kinda fascinated by the process , catches himself staring at mcs hands the whole time and hopes mc didn't notice ~

niko: is not very responsible when it comes to injuries, but would happily let mc take care of them. may not realize they're even hurt at first until mc is like "niko i need to heal you!" then they're like "oh i guess you do 😅" sitting happily waiting for mc to finish, almost like a puppy. promises to be more careful in the future (they are not)

shikako: hates feeling weak and hates that mc has to take care of her in this situation. mc would need to assure her that it's fine! this is what their jutsu is for and it's nothing to worry about. ,, it also doesn't help there's butterflies in her stomach with how close mc is to her. she probably wouldn't even realize when mc was done, mc would have to wave a hand in front of her face or something because 😳 shikako was zoned out 😳 lol

inoru: would be trying to convince mc he's fine, with tears in his eyes :''). "okay maybe i'm not.." he hates anyone seeing him in a weakened state, especially mc. when they start working on him he'll apologize that you have to help him like this,, he should've been stronger. it's not often inoru breaks his confident flirty personality, this would be one of the rare circumstances.

rona: would be so thankful. the whole time mc is working on her she'd be thanking them, and telling them they're doing a good job. even though she doesn't know med-ninjutsu she'd offer to take care of mc too! and kanemaru is right next to them both giving them all the licks and kisses just happy they're both okay!

jun: is on the defense at first wondering why mc is touching him. it's when he sees mc is genuinely concerned and wants to help him that he lets his walls down a little and lets them help. once they're done he'd thank them but can't look them in the eyes the rest of the day and will be wondering what this meant to them.

chai: mc would have to hold her down first of all lol, like you'd have to convince her she is not looking good and needs help!!! mayhaps get in her face and be like "chai let me help you you're injured!!" and it would finally click for her and she'd be like "🥺 okay" and she'd just sit there the whole time looking at mc like 🥺,, once mc has healed her she'd immediately jump up singing their praises- "I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER NOW MC IS AMAZING! THE BEST HEALER IN THE WORLD!!"

mokoto: would love it, every second. they love any excuse to have mc touching them, even if it's because they're injured lol. would be sitting there quietly watching the process. once mc is done, they'd ask if you're sure you're done, they still hurt a little,, maybe you missed a spot .. ;)

ryoku: mc touches him in any kind/gentle way and this boy blushes. he's used to healers helping him asap when he's injured in the sand village being part of the kazekages clan, but having mc worrying over him just because he's him,, his mind is racing and now every time he gets injured he wishes it was mc there taking care of him (hint 😏).

kougetsu: is just staring at mc in shock while they take care of them. not used to any kindness while being patched up. because of the hozuki clans abilities, it's hard for them to sustain minor injuries so i just imagine someone like punching them and mc immediately being like D: and kougetsu is just like '??? :) idk what's happening but i like it' lol

RO reactions to overhearing MC gushing about them to a good friend of theirs? Like they're saying how awesome the RO is, how much they love the RO, they feel like the RO is their soulmate, etc etc

Asahi: he hears praise a lot, but it always different coming from you. because your opinion actually matters a lot to him. he doesn't listen for long as he'd feel bad eavesdropping on you, but later he will admit what he heard you talking about and thank you. if he's feeling brave he may even admit he feels the same way about you 🤭

Niko: their face is literally like 😳 lol,, not expecting to hear any of the praise coming out of your mouth. will most likely try and sneak away before you realize they're there and overheard you, and while doing so will trip making a loud noise alerting you to them. when you come to check the noise you see them on the ground rubbing their behind, and before you can ask if they're okay niko is already making an excuse to get away. later on they'll ask if they can talk to you alone for a minute where they'll admit what they heard and that they feel the same about you

Shikako: as soon as she hears her name she is immediately blushing !! she'll hide behind a tree nearby just to hear everything you think about her. she's been wanting to know how you see her for so long, and there's no way she could ask you to your face! a few days later she will manage to gather the courage to bring up what she overheard and ask if you really meant it

Inoru: a pang of jealousy hits him hearing you talk so intently with someone else,, before he hears his name come from you lips, and understands it's him you're talking about with your friend. he'll stand just out of eyesight waiting for you to walk towards him before revealing himself and asking confidently, "so that's how you feel about me huh? 😏" (he's actually crying on the inside)

Rona: she hears mc say her name and her face immediately softens. everything just feels right when she's with you so to hear you feel the same makes her so happy. she'll wait a moment and then walk over to you wrapping her arms around your shoulders with a smile on her face ~

Mokoto: will send a beetle over to listen to everything you say so they don't miss any of it. once you're done and they've got everything from their little bug friend, they'll catch up to you admitting they heard everything and quietly thank you, while admitting they think you're even more amazing. maybe you can gush about eath other to each other over lunch one day?

Ryoku: hears you gushing to someone and is wondering who is deserving of all your praise and admiration... then he hears his name. it's gotta be a mistake, he's heard people praise him for his power and strength before, but not all the things you're saying. he's frozen in place before he hears you and your friend coming closer and has to make a quick escape. there's no way he'll admit to eavesdropping so he keeps his thoughts to himself while avoiding eye contact with you in the near future.

Kougetsu: :OO !!! just as excited as chai in this situation but has a little more self control, because they don't wanna miss any of what you're saying. they wanna hear everything and as soon as you're done they're behind you immediately, wrapping they're arms around you asking if you really meant what you said. they hope you do because they feel the exact same way. Niko: would find it absolutely adorable!! they got big heart eyes right now!! loves how close this makes them feel with you. "you know, if you want, we could share clothes more often? only if you want to! you just look really nice in that!"

Shikako: she is SO red!!! on the verge of passing out tbh lol you just look so good in them! makes you ask her if she wants them back and she stutters out a "n-no! they look nice on you i promise!" silently hoping you keep them so she can see you wear them again.

Ryoku: *ryoku.exe has stopped working* has no idea how to react to this lmao he's been staring at you for a full min and you have to ask him what's wrong, "are those my clothes?" you answer with a yes, he responds back with a nod and a gruff approval sound. cannot look you in the eye while you're wearing them but you catch him sneaking glances out of the corner of your eye

Kougetsu: they're gonna go feral someone hold them back. "ARE THOSE MY CLOTHES?" before you get a chance to respond they come up from behind, wrapping their arms around you. Asahi: "oh that's why they make me so nervous recently!" - you notice him blushing a lot more and offering to help you train a lot more! He tries to be smooth but it's more endearing than anything. There’s a lot of “accidental” hand brushes going on.

Niko: "how should I tell them?" - waaaay more clumsy than usual around you. After the third time they step on your toe you're just like "???" and they sputter out excuses, "sorry haha, I must be.. hungry! Yeah! Just distracted from being hungry that's it."

Shikako: "will they like me back?" - definitely too shy to make the first move. She was quiet around you before but now it hard for her to even look you in the eye. When you look away however you catch her glancing at you from the corner of your eye.

Inoru: "Asahi better back off." - jealous boy. wants you all to himself. Doesn't even matter if your teammates don't actually have a crush on you, he's not taking any chances. Will be the first to ask you on a date even if it's just getting breakfast or lunch together.

Rona: "wait!! when did this happen? why am I just realizing?!" - you notice her acting more caring than usual, always asking how you are and how your day was. When you get done with a training session or back from a mission she'll ask if you're injured or would like some water.

Jun: "oh no. I can't. they deserve better." - he denies it so hard. Will try his hardest to stay away from you. You're making him feel things and he doesn't like it. Also blushes easily and can't look you in the eye.

Chai: "YES!!!! THAT'S THE LOVE OF MY LIFE!!!" - does not hold back her feelings! The moment she realizes she loves you she is coming to find you wherever you are lol she likes to hug you and hold your hand whenever possible and is very vocally supportive "YOU'VE GOT THIS MC! THAT'S MY GF/BF/SO!!!!"

Mokoto: "hmmmm this is unexpected, but in a good way." - you catch them hanging around you more often, and smiling when only you can see. They'll show you places in the forest that are special to them, like a small waterfall no one knows about or a giant bug nest lol They start becoming relaxed just being in your presence.

Ryoku: "shit." - this is very unexpected for him. He honestly has no idea what he's doing. He'll try being romantic, for ex he'll bring a flower to you and just be like "here." and hand you the flower and walk away without waiting for a response. He's trying bless him. OH and he'd like to send letters to you by hawke asking about how you are whenever you're in your separate villages.

Kougetsu: "I'd kill for them. I'd die for them." - they'd say that out loud while looking at you and their teammates are like "dude (gn) wtf?" It is so not normal for a mist ninja to fall for a leaf ninja. Their mouth will get dry talking to you so you notice them drinking even more water than usual. Thinks about you constantly when they’re not near you, wishing that they’ll get a mission near your village just to at least see you.

When he gives it back he tries to make small talk to avoid the elephant in the room, “so u-uh how long have you been drawing??” (He knows the answer he’s literally your best friend someone save him pls)

Niko: “if you wanted me to model you just had to ask!” Wouldn’t phase them immediately until they went to hand the sketchbook back to you and saw you blushing , then it hits them and they’re like “… wait a min 👀”

Shikako: “oh 😳” will see it and quietly look through it admiring all of the drawings you’ve done. She can’t believe how beautiful you draw. Until you tap on her shoulder and she immediately drops the book and promises she didn’t see too much! She has to go now goodbye!!!

Inoru: absolutely loves it, will find you immediately and ask you all about it. Will also act cocky, like “of course you’d wanna draw me 😌” on the inside though he’s like “I can’t believe they drew me 🥹”

Rona: genuinely touched by it. You could’ve drawn anything but you chose her??? Would be super affectionate with you afterwards 🥰 staying close by and giving you side glances for the rest of the day 🥰

Jun: what is this???? Why would you wanna draw him? Closes the sketchbook and pretends he never saw anything. But next time he sees you it’s hard for him to hold eye contact and you’re confused to see a light blush on his cheeks.

When you come to retrieve the sketchbook he mutters a “thanks.” He doesn’t know how to react and internally smacks himself for not knowing how to tell you how he really feels. (He’s very flattered lol)

Kougetsu: “WOAH THATS SO COOL! ITS ME!!!” You have to pry the sketchbook from their hands bc they legit think it’s so cool you drew them they want to keep it forever. Will only let you have it back if you promise to draw one for them to actually keep. Will carry said drawing around at all times.. next time they see you they ask you do draw a self portrait for them to keep too 😏

Hi!! As long as the asks are respectful and not hateful I don’t mind any questions ~ if I get one that makes me really uncomfortable I simply won’t answer it!

For the reaction! -

Asahi: why? why would anyone want to make mc cry??? he grabs the person by their collar, "that wasn't very nice. mc didn't deserve what you said to them. i suggest you apologize." he mayhaps showed his sharingan up close to intimidate the person

Niko: "HEY!" will literally punch the person in the face and take mc away from the situation. Pulls you into a hug (if you're comfortable) and whispers calming things to you, "hey, you're okay, they're gone now, don't worry"

Shikako: she sees mc crying and can't hold back the tears in her own eyes. she takes a small step forward, "apologize to mc right now." the person scoffs and turns to walk away, when suddenly they stop. they're stuck. they look down only to see a shadow wrapped tightly around them restricting their movements and almost suffocating them. shikako meets the persons eyes again, "apologize to mc. right. now."

Inoru: anger fills him. it's only when you grab his arm to hold him back he stops. he looks at you then back to the person who caused the tears in your eyes. "you're lucky mc is holding me back or I'd pummel you." it's when the person turns away laughing, he has to do something. that something includes transferring into their mind and making them climb the tallest tree in the area and leaving them stranded there 😌

Rona: tells Kanemaru (her dog that i haven't mentioned before lol) to chase them away. then focuses all her attention on you, offering you water, helping you breathe, anything you need to calm down.

Jun: he is staring daggers into the back of the persons head. when they turn around and see how cold jun looks they shutter. jun speaks up and says flatly, "can i talk to you over there?" leading the person out of ear shot from mc when suddenly he kicks them in the stomach, knocking the wind out of them as they fall to the ground. he puts his lips right next to the persons ear, "you're going to go back over there and apologize to mc. understand?" jun walks the person back over, making sure they do as they were told

Chai: would tell mc not to worry! and will challenge the person who made them cry to a fight! you wanna make mc cry and get away with it?? not on her watch!!! the person doesn't want to fight and starts running away?? NOT ON HER WATCH GET BACK HERE AND PAY FOR MCS TEARS 😤

Mokoto: the person is bit by a bug all of a sudden!!! Mokoto appeats behind them, "That beetle has a poison that will cause your insides to liquify within 5 min. Get on your knees and apologize to mc and I may give you the antidote." (they were just kidding tho, the beetle was not poisonous and the antidote was just juice. anything for mc 😌👌🏻)

Ryoku: his sand grabs the person bringing them dangerously close to his face, "you're going to apologize to mc now. and you're going to mean it." they better make the right choice, otherwise...
