your DT x Eden's and DT x Tetro posts were so good, clearly now we need an Eden's Garden x Tetro Pink post to close the circle :V (not to pressure you or anything though, I know it's a lot to ask so soon after the last one)

I mean, clearly, it's gotta happen! Can't leave that little pair unchecked! Don't worry about pressuring me btw, I like receiving asks :)

Spoilers for P:EG CH1, TDRP CH4. CW: Murder, suicide, (referenced) sexual harassment, bullying, cheating (relationships), (referenced) alcoholism and domestic abuse, drugging (adrenaline).

Setting

The setup would be similar to the DRDT x TDRP thing: the country is a vague mix of the US and Japan, Eden's Garden Academy exists and people know what Ultimates are, but only the EG cast knows they're Ultimates when the killing game starts, etc. I'll mostly use Tetro motives not only because there's more of them, but also because Tozu doesn't seem to have any actual pre-planned motives other than the Traitor Perk (which will be a thing).

As for Confession Game, we run into an issue. Not everyone in EG has had their secret revealed, and even the ones we have can get pretty vague. I'll list all the secrets I think could end up in Confession Game, both from confirmed secrets and the characters' backstory. This list will obviously become outdated as we get more info on the EG cast, but for now:

Cassidy: "This student refuses to leave their home for any reason other than selling pastries." Canon secret.

Desmond: "This student always makes it a point to carry a weapon on their person, as there is only one person they trust." Canon secret.

Diana: "This student completely changed their personality to befriend their high school friends." I think this is only a theory but I'm going with it fuck it.

Eva: "This student was scouted by Eden's Garden Academy as the Ultimate Mathlete." Student profiles in Tetro only show up in CH4, and since Eva has no reason to even claim an Ultimate talent (the Tetro cast doesn't know they're Ultimates at the start, so she wouldn't stand out if she said she just didn't have one herself), this little detail being revealed in Confession Game makes sense.

Ingrid: "This student uses out of date cleaning supplies." Canon.

Jett: "This student is hiding burn scars from a horrible accident." Jett says he wears the suit for anonymity but I don't think most people believe him.

Mark: Depending on how literally we're meant to take his Imitation Piece, it could be related to the hospitalization shown there.

Toshiko: "This student cheated on their boyfriend in third grade." Canon.

Wenona: Something about unethical business practices, though I doubt she'd hesitate much before hitting the button.

Wolfgang: "This student holds many of the same inclinations which make them hate their father." I have no fucking idea how to actually word this what does "wolfish mind" even mean bro?

Damon, Eloise, Grace, Jean, Kai, Ulysses: I have no fucking idea what these people's secrets would be, sorry :v Let's just say they wouldn't cause much drama to avoid the issue.

Alright let's actually start now.

Researchers & Monomoko & Tozu & Mara

Monomoko would resent Tozu's theatrics, and Tozu would constantly try to get Monomoko to get into the spirit of the killing game a little more. The tension would definitely be there, but it wouldn't actually be too bad. They'd get through it.

Monomoko is, to be frank, a little scared of Mara. Mara doesn't mind it, and secretly enjoys petting it when no one's looking. Monomoko can live with that.

Dr Yonekura gets real sick of Tozu's bullshit, real quick. Tozu has to abide her orders and chill out a bit when asked, but he'd still try to sneak his theatrics in as much as he can regardless. Meanwhile, every researcher respects Mara as a professional coworker, though some are a little scared of her as well. Mara doesn't talk to them if she can help it, but she's still professional when she needs to be.

Sasaki & Wolfgang

Finally, Sasaki doesn't have to be the leader! At the start, at least. Although she'd probably still try to organize everyone up to and including the mock trial (which I'm assuming is happening because why not), once Wolfgang gets his big moment in said trial and everyone starts following his lead, Sasaki's happy to at least share the role with him.

Okazaki & Jett

Mask buddies mask buddies mask buddies. They’d bond over their shared sense of style immediately, and Jett would be seen hanging around Okazaki a lot because of this. At least at the start.

Chiba & Diana

They bond over makeup :D Diana would probably fit in pretty well with the Hama - Chiba - Harada friendship group, though I actually think she’d hang out more with the other people I’ll mention her alongside.

Chiba & Toshiko

I have genuinely no idea how this dynamic would even begin to play out, but it’s a really interesting one to consider. A big part of Chiba’s character arc is wanting to “grow up”, and the fact that Toshiko, who is three years her junior, wants to be treated the same way as her teenage classmates, would be an extra incentive for Chiba to start that arc. As for Toshiko, I think she’d just be confused and would maybe just avoid Chiba? I don’t know. I don’t have a good enough read on Toshiko for this.

Hiroaki & Eva

The outcasts! Eva’s little speech at the end of the mock trial would be just as divisive in the combined cast than in canon EG, and Hiroaki’s own divisive personality hasn’t gone anywhere, so they’d naturally get pushed aside by the others. Although I still think Damon would be closer to Eva than Hiro, the Mathlete and Designer would still have some form of unspoken solidarity between each other. For a while.

Ojima & Damon

Damon’s whole speech at the end of the mock trial is very divisive in canon EG, and it would be even more so in front of a cast where half the members don’t know they’re Ultimates. However, there is precedent for Ojima approaching outcasts, so I think he’d at least try to form some kind of friendship. Like with the previous section, I still find it pretty likely that Eva and Damon would gravitate to each other, as well as Hiroaki and Ojima, so the Ojima - Damon connection is tenuous, but I’d say it exists.

Ojima & Hiroaki & Diana

Ojima and Diana are both known to help the “leaders” of their respective killing games while at the same time reaching out to the outcasts, so I think they’d end up forming some kind of bond over that, basically working together to reach their goals. And since Hiroaki would be interested in Diana’s talent (fashion buddies!), they could end up becoming a pretty odd little friend group, but a surprisingly wholesome one at that.

Yanagi & Ingrid & Toshiko

Of all the women in the EG cast, none would be more receptive of Yanagi’s behavior than Toshiko. Not in a romantic way (Yanagi would probably need to clarify that to someone at some point), but in the “treated like a ‘proper lady’” kind of way. They’re both relatively traditional people, so they’d mesh pretty well, and Toshiko would probably enjoy the whole “princess” thing. As an immediate result, Ingrid would end up liking Yanagi. I think she’d find him “adorable”, and while she’d repeatedly tell him she doesn’t need protection herself, she wouldn’t mind too much because she just wouldn’t take Yanagi very seriously in general. Another odd but weirdly wholesome friend group!

Kamimura & Mark & Desmond

I actually think Kami would like these two well enough, given they have a fair amount of common sense. Mark even has a relatively similar attitude to Kami in a lot of aspects. That said, since Desmond usually spends time alone with Eloise, and Jett is usually seen around Mark, Kami would still probably end up hanging out with Hasegawa a lot.

Okazaki & Ingrid

I don’t actually know how willing Okazaki would actually be with revealing her gender identity if the topic actually comes up, but on the off chance that she’s willing to…

Ingrid: Strangers’ll usually be more comfortable spending the night with the same gender. Okazaki: Does that mean no one will be comfortable with me? Ingrid: Huh? Oka: I go by any pronouns. I don’t think anyone here shares that. Unless I’m wrong…? Ingrid: Oh. Hiroaki: Well, I don’t think anyone’s gonna be comfortable with you, but your gender has nothing to do with it. Oka: I pick Hiroaki. Hiro: Ah! Takeshi! Okazaki ended up rooming with Watari.

First Motive: Hasegawa & Ulysses

The first motive would be just as much of a problem to Ulysses as it was for DRDT Rose. My guy’s always two seconds away from falling asleep, so he needs some way to stay awake through the bullshit. The solution? Whenever Ulysses is struggling, have Hasegawa talk with him about increasingly specific historical facts. Hasegawa would probably enjoy the conversations enough to keep them up for long enough to return a bit of energy to Ulysses. Kamimura is sometimes there, but he usually needs to leave before their conversations put him to sleep.

Confession Game

Alright time for this.

Harada

Toshiko would take a professional interest in his secret. If she can study Harada’s incredible Game, she might be able to better advise her clients on how to seduce women. She’d occasionally look at him and write something down in a little notepad. No one knows what notes she’s actually taking, and she’s quite secretive about them. In reality, they’re nothing special, though they include a few more tigers than her regular dating advice usually has.

Hayashi

Always a bit of a bombshell secret, but I think like the Tetro cast, the EG cast would be able to move past it relatively quickly. Except Wolfgang, who is really passionate about murderers. He’d probably ask a few questions when the reveal happens, trying to determine exactly what happened. The question here becomes whether Hayashi would end up spilling the whole backstory she gives in Bruise, in which case Wolfgang would probably be willing to support her, or if she just gives enough details to get him to back off without telling the full story. I find the latter more likely.

Tamba

Tamba’s secret would greatly annoy people like Grace or Damon or even Desmond, who think working hard for your talent is of great importance. A lot of Tamba’s relationships would suffer because of that, even if she has moved past hurting her competition.

Yanagi

Assuming a few things about Wolfgang’s past here, it’s very possible he’d relate to Yanagi on his “family ruined by alcoholism and domestic abuse” secret. Hell, the secret might have to be reworded so it only applies to Yanagi instead of applying to Wolfgang too. I don’t think they’d talk about it much, but they could have at least one discussion or two about it.

The Other Horrifying Ones

The EG cast would probably handle the other pretty disturbing secrets (Kamimura’s, Chiba’s, Isono’s, Sasaki’s, Ojima’s, etc.) similarly to how the Tetro cast handled them. Which is to say, moving on quickly because the person in question doesn’t want to talk about it much.

Cassidy

This would probably create at least one interesting conversation with Isono, who would discuss her agoraphobia with Cassidy. I don’t think it’d go too far, but Cassidy and Isono would probably grow closer because of it.

Diana

I think most people would just kinda ignore this. Wolfgang, for example, would insist that how Diana came to be the way she is doesn’t matter, what matters is that she treats others with extreme kindness and compassion, and that’s enough for her to be a good person. Basically working his magic as a defense lawyer there. But it would make Eva even less receptive to her kindness than in canon, and Damon might trust her even less. I could also see some of the Tetro cast, such as Kamimura, eyeing her with suspicion for a while, but he would eventually let it go.

Eva

Sasaki and Hasegawa don’t understand why “Mathlete” is considered less socially acceptable than “Influencer.” Yanagi, Tsuno and Isono would try to defend Eva from bullying. Harada would be uncomfortable with the people making fun of her because of his past. Hama would tell her that hiding it was stupid because, quote the man, “math is badass.” In fact, with so many people in Tetro being either too nerdy or too nice to insult Eva, it’s possible the majority opinion would switch to “Mathlete is a perfectly fine talent why the hell did you hide it.” Especially since the "Ultimate Liar" title would have never been in the conversation. Unfortunately Eva is still not good at receiving kindness and thus would still end up falling into her “me vs them” mentality.

Ingrid

Kamimura would be on her ass about this. He’d start ranting about all the issues with using out of date cleaning supplies, with enough rage that he has to actively hold himself back lest his heart rate spike into cataplexy territory. He’d probably end up joining the clothes washing squad just to make sure Ingrid isn’t using anything out of date.

Toshiko

Yanagi would feel conflicted about the thing at first, but like everyone else, he’d eventually let it go because Toshiko was, like, 9.

Wolfgang

Since this one’s a comment on his personality, it’s easy to dispute as inaccurate or misrepresentative. Sasaki, for example, would use the same defense Wolfgang gave of Diana; it doesn’t matter what the masterminds say, only the way Wolfgang treats the others, and he’s been very nice (relatively speaking). Diana, Isono, Tsuno, Ingrid, Toshiko, Grace, Cassidy, Jett, Jean, Harada, Hama, Chiba, Watari, all would vocally voice their support of wolf boy.

Wada & Tsuno & Isono & Diana

The Wada Fanclub grows… yeah that’s it Diana would join the Wada fanclub post Confession Game, and it's probably the group she'd spend the most time around.

Eva & Everyone

Since the Traitor Perk’s still a thing, and it was a thing that was kinda targeted at Eva, she’s still likely to be the CH1 killer, and I still think Wolfgang is the likeliest to be her victim. Her murder would come before anyone snapping, though it would probably require a different setup since knocking Wolfgang out might set off the motive alarm. In any case, a bunch more people than Diana would have tried reaching out to Eva at that point (Isono, Tsuno, Hama, Hasegawa, etc.), which would make her claim that everyone hated her even weaker than in canon, but it still applies. Lots of sadness over both of them.

Diana & Tsuno

Diana’s whole chameleon speech at the end of trial 1 wasn’t all that well received in the EG cast, but it’s the kinda shit that’s right up Tsuno’s alley. Tsuno would probably join her, even. With such incredibly earnest enthusiasm, she’d be an incredible partner to the Ever-Present Arm of Justice!

Surely becoming Tsuno’s unofficial sidekick won’t cause issues with any Mask Artisans around!

Hiroaki & Grace

Look, we have a problem. With EG only being up to CH1, we’ve yet to truly see how deep its cast’s insanity goes. As a result, it’s hard to imagine how they’d act moving forward, which makes it hard for me to think of plot points that aren’t just “Tetro, but again.” However, I need to come up with something, so allow me some creative liberty with these guys’ decision-making.

Let’s say Eva’s murder happens before the reward swap. That means Hiroaki doesn’t read Sasaki’s diaries, meaning Yanagi doesn’t have reason to get mad at him… beyond the usual anyways. However, adrenaline motive is still a thing, and Hiroaki’s still Hiroaki. And, we have precedent from the prologue of Grace sometimes being physically violent.

This is all to say that in this AU, Ice Fairy happens with Grace replacing Yanagi. Hiroaki makes an insensitive comment about Wolfgang, and hopped up on adrenaline, Grace beats the shit out of him. You can also replace Hiroaki with Damon if you want, they’re both pretty likely to say the wrong thing.

Hayashi & Grace

Naturally, as per the Tetro standard, that means Grace gets locked up somewhere. She’s gonna be real pissed about it, but it’s gonna happen. Hayashi, Hama, Ingrid, Jean, all are gonna have to be on constant lookout because, unlike Yanagi, this one bites (metaphorically). It would probably drive her insane, and I’m not sure she’s actually going to chill ever. She’d pretend to be more relaxed so she can get out, but inside she’d still be seething with rage.

Tsuno & Jean

Jean strikes me as the type who might have pre-existing medical training. Even if he doesn’t, though, I think he’d be ready to help out Tsuno in the Infirmary once people like Hiroaki/Damon start getting injured. Tsuno is in less danger of burning out thanks to this.

Chiba & Ingrid

Remember the thing about Chiba wanting to grow up? Yeah that happens in CH2. Instead of going to Hayashi, though, she’d go to Ingrid, who acts just as grown up as Hayashi but is even older than her. This means the advice she receives is significantly better, and she might not even have the issues with Hama that she had in canon.

Harada & Ingrid

Assuming there’s still a gym vent equivalent, I think the second murder might still be adrenaline induced Sawa violence on Chiba. The issues of not having much EG content yet. In any case, that would make Ingrid very conflicted, as Harada is nice, but she feels real sad about Chiba, too.

Okazaki & Diana

Once Okazaki starts bullying Wada, the Wada Fanclub jumps into action. And that includes Diana. However, unlike Tsuno or Isono, who would unconditionally take Wada’s side, Diana would try to somehow extend some kind of olive branch to Okazaki. She’d tell Oka that bullying Wada is wrong, but she’d also try to ask her why she does it and try to negotiate with her or something.

Unfortunately, this may mean Okazaki would decide Diana could also be an easy target, and start bullying her as well. Boiling Point would still have Oka beating up Wada (Diana is physically stronger, after all), but that doesn’t mean Diana is safe.

Okazaki & Everyone

Oka would still kill Kamimura (cataplexy was part of the method), though the second victim can be Tsuno or Isono or Diana at discretion. Nevertheless, the crashout at the end of Trial 3 would still be just as legendary as ever. You know how the Tetro cast reacted, but as for the EG cast; Diana is upset and still sad Oka’s dying despite what she did, Wolfgang (if he’s somehow alive) would be losing his fucking mind and yelling at Oka, Wenona and Mark are just kind of frowning and demanding the vote start already alongside Damon and some of the Tetro cast, Ingrid is trying to cover Toshiko’s ears while Toshiko is fighting with all her might not to mentally write Tsuno x Oka enemies to lovers fanfic, Ulysses can’t figure out what exactly to write in his book to properly convey the extent of the Bullshit he’s seeing, Cassidy shouted “it’s just like Persona!” at the exact same time Wada did, Jean is holding back Grace so she doesn’t go up to Okazaki to beat her ass, etc.

At the end, Oka gives a few final words to her mask buddy Jett, which he cries about even if he’s really upset at her, then she says the “I’ll follow your flame” line and now Toshiko has to stop herself from mentally writing Watari x Oka fanfic, and finally execution.

This marks the end of the plot points I’ll make for this AU, so we’re going on to general dynamics!

Isono & Kai & Cassidy

Influencer squad! Although Cassidy and Kai haven’t interacted much in canon, I can see these three having some interesting interactions in regards to the whole social media thing. I already mentioned Isono and Cassidy discussing never leaving their houses, but Isono might still be able to strike some conversations with Kai about a couple of things. Also, you know that thing where Isono went to Hasegawa’s room and basically implied she wanted to be his girlfriend? I don’t think we ever got explicit confirmation on what that was about, or even if she had genuine romantic interest on Hase or not (I could be wrong on this btw), but I could see her trying that thing with Kai instead. Maybe.

Ojima & Eloise & Desmond

I think Ojima would get along well enough with those two! Eloise and Desmond would probably avoid Hiroaki, so Ojima wouldn’t end up hanging out with them too much, but they’d still enjoy some quiet time together from time to time.

Watari & Cassidy & Jett

Basically, Cassidy and Jett’s little friendship probably has Watari in there too. All high energy, very positive people, they’d obviously get along. In fact, Cass and Jett would probably be offered positions on the school staff, and they’d readily accept for the Silliness of it. Jett especially would love to hang out more with his animal mask buddy Okazaki, at least until Oka starts her crashout arc.

Sasaki & Jean

Both of their talents are related to leadership, and unlike Wenona, they’re both social enough to talk about it! Well, if Sasaki ever finds out what her talent is meant to be, anyways. Jean might have some sage advice about not overworking and delegating tasks to avoid stressing out too much. I imagine it’d be Jean approaching Sasaki about it, since Sasaki’s past with adult male authority figures is not particularly pleasant. In fact, I could even imagine her being a bit uncomfortable around Jean if he approaches her out of nowhere, though hiding it out of civility. Even if that’s the case, though, I can imagine her trusting him not to do anything weird eventually, it’d just take a while.

Hasegawa & Wenona

Hasegawa: … Wenona: … Hase: C-Can I help you? Wenona: I’m trying to figure out which one of us is richer, and it’s annoying that I can’t tell. Hase: … ???

Hasegawa & Cassidy

Cassidy: Hey, my dude! Look, I heard something a little weird about you, and I wanted to, y’know, confirm if it was fake or not! Hasegawa: O-Oh, uhm… Alright, w-what is it? Cassidy: Are you really, like, a billionaire? Hase: O-Oh! Uh, y-yeah. I’ve, uh… I’ve won a lot of money, o-on gameshows. Cassidy: … Hase: … Wh-Why are you looking at me like that? Cassidy: Bourgeoisie scum!!! Hase: ?!?!?!

Hama & Wada & Ulysses

Although Ulysses wouldn’t particularly want to read the books that Hama and Wada both enjoy in canon, the fact that he has, in fact, read every book in a library once would come up when the book club forms. Wada and Hama are impressed. In Hama’s words, “that’s badass.”

Tamba & Watari & Yanagi & Toshiko & Ingrid

Hey guess who joins the whole “princess” dress up scene? Yep, Toshiko! Again, she enjoys being treated like a lady, so she’d appreciate it. Ingrid’s there because the whole thing is so damn cute, she just can’t help it!

Yanagi & Kamimura & Ingrid

Yanagi gets called into laundry duty because of his suit, but Kamimura ends up being the most competent person in the clothes washing squad, no contest. Hasegawa gets dragged into the event too as a result of Kami being there.

Rita manga summary + differences from the show

Ch1: (timeline: during ep4. Rita is in the Racles spin-off between ep 2 &3. ch10 established ch2-9 is Rita's memories of ep1)

Morfonia was crying for help, led to intro fight scene out-of-suit. ep5 intro speech.

After a trial, staffers approached Rita with different problems. Rita directed them to make the prisoners fill up holes from Bugnarok attacks and use next year's budget in advance for repairs.

Moru handed Rita a report on percedents and Rita noted she fell asleep during the trial. Rita insisted to investigate this next case on their own and Moru wondered their refusal is because they were hiding something, like finally buying new weapons for Gokkan.

Disappointed, Moru urged Rita to think of better solutions for the Bugnarok problem instead of overworking, to which Rita replied, "Protecting the country is the duty of the king."

Moru reflected that while other kings were headstrong, so was theirs.

Rita picked up a piece of paper and turned to their room. They refused to share with Moru what's on their mind. Moru asked what should she do with the piling paperwork and Rita said they'll figure it out later. Rita asked Moru to leave because they were going to get changed.

Moru thought Rita seemed different since the day of the Quintet Alliance. Behind the door, Rita unzipped their mask and read Gira's wanted poster.

Ch2 & 3: retelling of ep1 up to Yanma leaving the meeting. Says ep1 happened one month before start of the manga.

Rita asked Moru to record the meeting just in case, they had a bad feeling about this. Moru yawned and put their phone on the floor to Rita's annoyance.

Yanma walked away and Rita stopped him. Added internal monologue: Rita doesn't want the treaty to fall apart now after everything. Rita tightened their grip on their sword as they figured Bugnarok could reawaken any minute now.

Ch4: direct retelling, bugnarok attack + 🦋🌼🐝 henshin

Ch5: fight scene. Himeno got in the way of Rita's shot. Rita pondered on how come the kings can't unite as one in face of the bugnarok threat. They remembered Karras's teaching: "It is Gokkan's duty to connect the nations with the law."

Gira is saved by Rita from a falling rubble. He questioned where had Racles and his royal army gone and rushed towards the castle. (In the show, Himeno questioned Racles's whereabouts and thus prompted Gira to find him)

Reminded, Rita contacted Morfonia who was hiding in the temp shelter near the castle. She refused to go near it even before Rita told her to locate Racles. Turned out Morfonia forgot the king's hotline inside the throne room and she asked Rita check it out themself by connecting to it.

Ch6: Rita witnessed Gira and Racles's confrontation from "It's Yanma Gast who started this" to Gira taking the sword + evil king speech. (this is on video record)

The signal fizzled after Racles declared war so Rita headed towards the castle. They are blocked from access by the castle's biometric security. Morfonia came to find them and showed them Gira's tyrant speech.

There is a detransformation jingle/slogan: 王武解放 (~ ou bu kai hou) lit. release of royal arms

Ch7 & 8: Gira henshin and summoned King-Ohger.

Rita moved to bring Gira in for questioning but the Shugoddom guards surrounded him first. Racles, in his floating TV, asked "Your Honour, International Supreme Chief Justice" to arrest the traitor Gira in the name of Chikyuu's order.

I think safe ships are boring. I well aware that greenstorm, Llorumi, ZanexOverlord whatever that's called,* insert more enemy x hero ships here* are toxic, unsafe, criminal in some cases. But I don't read fanfiction for the slowburn now they live happily ever after endings. At least not between this type of dynamic

Especially if they're actual enemies. I don't want them to be happy together. And grow and learn to love and forgive the atrocities and stuff. That's just delusional.

If I'm reading a hero×villain story im there mostly for the conflict. The wrestling mania of having a crush on the worst person on the planet. Thinking that this person beat me up yesterday but I'm still gonna kiss them. The overall conflict of having to explain to other protagonists why on earth they run back to this very evil person. Figuring it out themselves why they like this person and why they keep doing it.

Safe ships do the same thing. Over and over. Kai x Cole ch1 they're pining, ch2 almost kiss, ch3 actual kiss, Ch4 random event or miscommunication, ch5 IVE ALWAYS LOVED YOU COLE!

Most safe ships have this exact or very similar formula. It's repetitive and so very very very very bland

I suppose the sin is that I like unsafe ships because there is more uncertainty and more to work with and are almost always guaranteed a bad or emotionally complicated ending. And you don't get that energy most of the time with more safe ships like Lava or Techno because to make that conflict with *good* characters, you have to be really ooc to get there. l And no I don't think it's hot to be beaten up or support abusive relationships. But in fanfiction it is fun in way.

I do get where you're coming from. exploring bad relationships is always entertaining. Again, if you're not shipping any of these romantically I don't see a problem. I love me some Lloyd hating himself for still liking harumi one shots.

anyway, maybe step away from the very edge. Try some AUs maybe? That's an easy way to switch up dynamics so that outcomes are a little more uncertain. I've seen some really devastating stuff be done with pixane, and that's like the most pure ship.

But also, yeah, fanfic writers, healthy relationships have real problems sometimes. make it interesting. there's a place for fluff, but get some stakes in there.

Isle Connections Ch4 Familiar Faces

(Warning: Y/n has a fight with Avery. Mentioning of toxic relationships/families. This chapter will probably cover a period expanding over a few weeks to a few months. Will slightly reference the Twilight Wings series.)

You were confused about both of those guys to say the least...but you weren't sure about anything right now. And Gloria was right. So far the most either of them had done was be rude and try to cheat, even though Kara's way could've gotten someone hurt. Plus they did apologize and they were being punished instead of Mustard brushing them off which was good..

But you'd still be keeping a VERY close eye on both of them!

Bit enough of that. You were excited to see what surprise Mustard was going to gift Gloria. So after some rest and a quick lunch, you and Gloria both gathered back in the main training room to meet Mustard and see what he had to say.

"Ah. There you are, Gloria," he greeted you both with a smile, "Keeping this old man waiting huh? Since you completed all three trials, I give you the secret of the master dojo." You were expecting him to pull out a new uniform or maybe actual armor but instead he held up a...pokeball? "Now then. Come on out."

The pokeball was given a light toss. Light sparkled out and revealed to you both a... Little bear cub wearing a white sash tied around its head? The strange pokemon got you both to look wide eyed in surprise. It was SO CUTE!! The absolutely adorable little pokemon struck a pose immediately like a martial artist kicking and throwing a few punches before it paused finally seeming to notice you two and Silver staring at it. It froze before gaining a frightened look, and turned to flee and dove behind Mr. Mustard's legs. After a few seconds peeking out from behind him.

"AW! The wee thing's so cute!," Gloria gushed making Mustard chuckle.

"This pokemon is in fact the secret armor of the master dojo," he explained, "Say hello to kubfu. I know. I know. It's tiny. But raise it with diligence and it'll become strong enough to see you through any battle like a suit of armor. No opponent will ever get past it. This one in particular has amazing potential. Problem is it's a bit shy. It doesn't seem to have much confidence in itself. So I was thinking maybe if it joined you I'm your training here, that'll help break it out of it's shell a little bit. So take good care of kubfu, Kay? It's now in your hands." He held the pokeballs out to her...and she slowly accepted it in awe.

Wait...The kubfu has a similar problem to Gloria. Did that mean that Mustard planned this out in the beginning? This could actually work out really well for Gloria!

"I won't let ye down, Sir!," Gloria gave a determined face clutching the ball to herself. "I promise ta train extra hard and help em out!"

Mustard smiled wider. "I'm glad to hear that because the special training I'm going to give you will be hard, but if you're willing to work then I'm sure you'll surpass it soon! Now then the first thing for you to do is to become best friends with Kubfu." Said Pokemon perked out a little more from behind his leg. "You need to build trust. Kubfu really hasn't had the chance to explore the world outside the dojo so maybe it'll help you become better friends if you let it have a look around. Once you're best buddies, we'll start harder training in earnest! Just stop by and let me know once you think you're ready for that."

Gloria nodded at him before looking down at the kubfu and kneeling slowly. "Hi, lik guy. Oh you're so cute. Do ya wanna have a snack with me?" The pokemon looked back to Mustard who just nodded before it slowly shuffled out and nodded up at her. "Kay then! Let's go n' get us some grub!"

"Gloria." She looked at Mustard. "You're real training will begin next Monday. If you're really are serious about this training then you shall need to listen to what I say."

She nodded standing back up. "Ya got it! I'm as ready as I'll ever be!"

He smiled wider. "Good. For now focus on bonding with Kubfu over the weekend."

"Oh! M' not done with my dex challenge yet!," she excitedly looked back to you. "We can all go exploring together an' finish it! And we can also go explorin' for those guys missing digletts!!"

You nodded. "Yeah. I bet exploring places together would be a great idea for you guys to bond."

And so it began. Gloria started training hard with the kubfu and you tagged along on her adventures of finding random digletts and taking pictures left and right. The shy pokemon was still shy hiding from everyone but it seemed to warm up to Silver a bit the longer they were out together and Gloria's contagious adventurous spirit seemed to rub off on it a little bit. Then Monday came and her real training started. She was woken up bright and early with everyone else and made to train alongside all the others including Avery and Klara. Sit ups,push ups, running laps, but most of all battles. Hard battles that Mustard initiated between her and the older more experienced students in front of a crowd always. Forcing her to get out of her comfort zone and work hard to defeat them while everyone watched. It was pretty hard work like he promised it would be but Gloria as you learnt was VERY determined and stubborn so she would push through it in time. You were just stuck watching from the sidelines cheering her on as she did so. You also saw Avery and Klara take part in their punishments. Sometimes you'd see them doing exercises until they were sweating like crazy as Ms. Honey or Mustard watched to make sure they did it. Sometimes you passed a room in the girls' wing and heard Klara whine and grumble as she scrubbed a toilet. Other times you saw them taking care of the dojo's pokemon. One particular day you heard music coming from the kitchen. Wait. Not music singing.

"Hush Little poke don't say a word ~ Avery's gonna pick you a oran berry.~"

It sounded like a pokemon twist on the classic hush little baby song. And it was coming from the kitchen area. Curious you poked your head in and paused at what you saw. Avery was knelt petting the slowpokes and hummed to their happy faces. You continued to stare at them for a moment before Silver just walked up to you and chirped . Causing you to jump and Avery immediately turn around and you broth froze as you made eye contact. For a long moment none of you said anything before you sputtered.

"Uh...S-Sorry," you held up your hands, "I was just getting a snack for my drizzle! I didn't know you were using the kitchen."

"I-... I-It's perfectly alright," he squeaked out looking embarrassed.

"Yeah..Um. Gloria's waiting for me to help her find digletts. Ok. Bye!"

You quickly fled the awkward scene snatching Silver up in your arms with a loud squeak. Avery still paused watching you retreat before shoving his face in his hat and screaming in embarrassment. It seemed Avery started to avoid you more after that awkward encounter which you also didn't mind. To get over the embarrassment you just focused on helping out Gloria with her side quests outside of her training to put it in the back of your mind. However you both were again be surprised a week later. You'd both just gotten back from your little expedition to find more digletts and their trainer was so happy he kept gifting Gloria Alola Region pokemon. He must've really valued his digletts. When you both walked up to the dojo with your pokemon, you ran into none other than Klara who was sweeping the steps by herself with Ms. Honey watching.

"G' afternoon, Klara!," Gloria greeted waving a hand to her catching her attention. "Tis a nice day huh?"

Klara sighed. "I guess so. If you don't mind working."

"Yikes! Ya still working on that punishment?"

"Master has the last day of our hard work literally marked on his calendar. Until then I'm gonna have to work hard ...But if it means I'll be a gym leader then I'll happily train hard and accept defeat!" Your brows rose. Well..That was certainly a positive response considering how she was before. "Again sorry for everything. Hey. Do you think we can battle again sometime? Fairly this time! I've been training hard and I bet I can beat you this time!"

Gloria lit up! "Yeah! I'd love too! We can totally battle again!"

Klara smiled. "Hehe. I'll be looking forward to it-"

"Look out, Ladies!"

You three jumped back as two of the male students attending the dojo struggling to carry ..A giant vending machine? Behind them two delivery men wheeled past another vending machine and behind them was two more delivery men carrying a rotomi machine. You all watched as the eight men walked by with Ms. Honey guiding them.

"What the world is that about?," you asked.

"Oh. A couple corviknight came by with a big delivery and a new visitor just a few minutes ago," Klara said. "Apparently Ms. Honey is updating the dojo."

"OH! That's what Ms. Honey meant by a delivery with the watts." You both looked at her. "Y'know? That power supply that comes from the wishing stones n' dynamax dens. Ya can use 'em as currency n' Galar. Ms. Honey said she needed a lot so I gave 'er all the watts I had. I was nay usin' them anyways."

"How many did you give her?"

"Um...I think three million three hundred eighty thousand." You both gawked at her. The broom slipping from Kara's hands and onto the steps. "....What? I told ye I never used 'em."

"Uh...Right. Anyways..You said there was a visitor here?" You looked back to Klara.

Klara shook her head. "Yeah. A short kid like you." She pointed at Gloria. "Only he had this hair color that reminded me of poison types. It was all purple-"

"That sounds like Hop!" Gloria's suddenly yell had you both wincing as she beamed brightly before turning to the dojo. "HOP, HOP, HOP, HOP!!" Throwing up her arms she dashed for the dojo.

"Wow...She sure has spirit."

"Tell me about it. Try stopping her from jumping into danger all the time." You took a moment to look Klara up and down... before sighing making a choice. "Hey, Klara." She looked at you. "I just...Wanted to apologize for how I acted towards you." She blinked surprised. "I was pretty mean to you too and I wanted to apologize for everything I did. Do you think we could forget everything that happened and start over?"

Klara still stared before smiling. "TOTES!! I was a jerk too so I totally deserved it but like now I can start over with everything! I'm still gonna beat your friend though!"

You smiled. "Thanks. I look forward to IT-"

You were interrupted when Gloria just grabbed you by the arm and yanked you by the arm behind her. "C'MON Y/N!! DON'T KEEP US WAITIN'!"

You were yanked along by Gloria across the way and right up to the door that she threw open hard enough to make it slam loudly against the wall catching everyone off guard and to look over as you both came in but stopped just a few feet in the middle of the room. Mustard was there as well and didn't even flinch as Gloria came crashing in only smiling at you both. However you both interrupted him talking to someone. That someone had purple hair and turned to look at you both with bright golden eyes blinking. There was a moment of silence as the two stared before a smile graced his features.

"Oh. Hey!" Hop smiled brightly at Gloria. "Welcome back, Glory."

"HOP!!" Before anyone could stop her, Gloria rushed him. Practically tackling him in a hug that had him teetering back waving his arms before the two friends fell backwards onto the ground. "I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!"

"It's nice to see you too, Gloria." Hop managed to say from his now sitting position smiling brightly despite having been half tackled to the floor hugging one of his best friends back. "I missed you too!"

"Let him get some breathing space, Gloria."

Hop snapped up hearing a familiar voice. "Y/N!" Smiling he pulled both of them up standing and broke the hug to smile widely at you. "Boy! It sure has been a while! Things haven't been the same without you guys and Victor back at Postwick." He then smiled at Gloria again. "But it looks like you've been working hard keeping up your training here at the dojo eh?"

"What are you doing here?!," Gloria piped up completely happy. "I thought ya was studyin' under Sonia!"

"Surprise!" Hop held up his hands with a bright smile. "That's just the reaction I was hoping for! I'm here at the Isle of Armor to research more of that dynamax phenomenon and gather a few max mushrooms samples for Sonia."

"Why isn't Sonia doing that?"

"She's doing some really important research in the Crown Tundra for the Chairwoman, so she asked me to take care of things here! And I'm glad I did. OH!" He turned back to Gloria. "I almost forgot! You're never gonna believe this! Victor got picked up as a gym leader in training too!"

You both gasped. "No! Really?!"

He nodded. "Nessa hand picked him herself right after we saved Galar again!"

"You did what again?!"

"Oh right! You both dunno. I'll be happy to tell ya everything but first I gotta get settled in."

"Yes." All of you turned back to Mustard now who smiled ever patiently. "I heard that you two were friends. How delightful! Hop here was just asking permission to camp out on the Isle. But where's the fun in mucking about in the mud? I was telling him he should just stay here at the dojo."

"I mean it'd be loads easier than camping out for a long while, but are you sure I wouldn't get in the way?"

"Everyone's welcome to stay here at the dojo. Don't be shy, My Boy. Besides we're practically family already. You're the little brother of our Leon after all! Hmm...We still have some max mushrooms stored away that Gloria got us a while ago. I'll dig those out so you can bring this Sonia person some samples. In the meantime feel free to make yourself at home! I'll have Honey set up a room for you and get you a room key later."

"Yeah. It's true. Lee did train here when we were both kids. Alright. You twisted my arm. Hope you don't regret it because I'm staying."

Mustard laughed. "The more the merrier. I'm as pleased as a gold plated punch bowl!"

Hop bowed. "Thanks so much, Mr. Mustard!" Hop blinked looking upside down at Silver and Gloria's kubfu. "No way!" He snapped back around startling the tiny bear pokemon. "Is that a kubfu?!"

Said kubfu dove behind Gloria's legs before peeking out. "Yeah! Yeah! I've been trainin' with him forever!"

"That's so cool! They evolve into ursifu but they can only evolve a certain way...but I forgot what that is."

"Ah! That reminds me." Mustard again spoke up. "I've got something I've been meaning to tell you about Kubfu, Gloria. Or it's evolution ursifu. The truth is the lovable rascal is capable of gigantamaxing too."

Gloria looked shocked. "Wait really?!"

"Yes but it's a bit tricky since it can't stand the taste of max mushrooms so max soup is off the menu unless you can find a way to make it more appealing. There's a certain something you can find here on the isle though that'll make even ursifu gobble up the soup. And that certain something is.." he paused for a long time giving you all a serious look..... Looking at them so long Gloria and Hop exchanged glances. .....Mustard suddenly smiled goofily again. "Actually. I forgot what it was. Oopsie daisies."

"Are you kidding me?!" "No!" Both looked defeated.

"Hahaha! You're more fun to tease than your brother ever was!" Mustard chuckled making Hop give him a deadpanned look. "But the certain something I'm thinking of is sure to make the soup more palatable to kubfu once Gloria manages to evolve him and it has something to do with another pokemon." Another pokemon? That was a big clue right there! "Now I think I'll leave you two to figure out just what it is! Give it a good think! You're on your own kiddos! he world is your cloyster so get cracking!" He turned to leave but paused and turned back to Gloria. "But don't think you can slack off on your training just because your friend is here. I still expect you to join me for training."

Gloria nodded. "Of course, Sir!"

Mustard smiled again before he walked off making Hop shake his head. "Uh...Is this how you're training usually goes?"

"Pretty much."

"Yikes." Hop shook his head again before smiling. "I've got no rapidash in this race, but even I'm curious about this certain something. I think I once read something about ursifu in a book too.." he hummed thinking hard and crossing his arms. "It's the wushu pokemon right? The book said it lives in the mountains of a far off region."

"Does it really?"

"Huh? You didn't know? Don't you have one?"

"Tis still just a kubfu."

"Oh..right. But I read somewhere ursifu is mad for some kind of sticky honey!" A 'AHA' look of realization came over his face. "Gloria! Honey is made from the nectar of flowers and plants right?! And Mustard said the special thing comes from another pokemon! So maybe we need some nectar made by pokemon that look like flowers and plants!"

Gloria lit up. "Hop, you're a genius!!"

"And if we're looking for those kinds of pokemon I'd reckon they'd be in the forest! I'll be able to look into dynamaxing along the way so count me in on exploring! There's a forest beyond that big marshland right?" Gloria nodded and he lit up. "Bet I can beat you there!"

"You're on!"

"OH NO YOU DON'T!" You held out your arms making them both stop. "It's too late in the day to go out again and we just got back, Gloria! And Hop hasn't even gotten his room yet either!" You rose a brow crossing your arms. "Besides, you also have training tomorrow with Mustard. Remember?"

Gloria groaned. "That's right. I totally forgot."

"It's ok!," Hop assured her with a smile. "We can go the day after tomorrow and look around! And then I can tell you guys everything that happened to me and Vic!"

Gloria again lit up like a firework. "An' I can tell you everything that happened here! And ya can help me find all these digletts and finish up me dex challenge!"

"I'd love to!! This is gonna be awesome! Just like old times!"

Indeed it was. Just like old times. The day after the next you had to stop the two from just taking off without you and grab them back to stick together. Hop and Gloria didn't right away go to try and find this mysterious nectar. Instead they spent most of that day looking for digletts and catching up. Gloria told Hop all about her trials and new rivals here and in turn Hop filled you both on everything that happened back home. Apparently two troublesome twin who you met before had discovered the ancient grave of one of the heroes because they just so happened to be descendants of said heroes and had a book from him passed down. And then they went around Galar releasing wild dynamax pokemon on a rampage in the gyms AFTER stealing the ancient shield from Zacian and Zanazenta. Then Hop and Victor with help from Sonia and Piers had to go around and fight all these pokemon and chase them down only to finally corner them in Hammerlocke where they forced poor Zamazenta to power up painfully. So they had to battle and calm them down. Luckily they were able to get the ancient shield back and have the two troublesome twins arrested and returned the ancient weapons to the pokemon.

..... Y'know. Typical every day hero stuff in the world of pokemon.

You were shellshocked for a while by this but considering every you've been through up til now, quickly had just accepted it. Oh. Also apparently Hop decided to be a scientist like Sonia(which you already knew would happen-) and was studying under her. Good for him! Also apparently Nessa had taken an interest in Victor after seeing his actions during the gym challenge and helping to save her gym. She had offered to train him as the new water type gym leader which he happily accepted and you thought that actually suited him nicely. However Victor had his own problems battling. Being too serious and not having too much confidence in his battling skills unlike Gloria who was VERY confident about battling and only suffered from stage fright. Which she was really getting better at! Mustard's training was really working! Leon also sent him to get training with someone in the Crown Tundra. According to what Hop told you, Victor actually seemed to be getting much better too. He was actually letting loose a little and having fun battling and building up confidence. Good. You were glad Victor was getting better too.

But back to the present day...

When not training the three of you explored the Forest of Focus. Hop suggested you find a liligant first to try it's nectar. And you all found one...Sorta. You all managed to find a lost petilil. The poor thing had apparently been separated from it's mother and had clung to Hop's leg until you all managed to find her. Gloria laughed the entire time and you had to admit it was funny and pretty cute. The grateful liligant was more than happy to allow Hop to take some nectar from the giant flower on her forehead. Unfortunately it wasn't the nectar you were looking for so Hop suggested you all find an applin instead since apparently they also were a pokemon that created nectar and were actually pretty common pokemon on the isle of armor. You all managed to find an applin but it rolled away quicker than you expected it to and all three of you lost sight of it before you knew it. Stopping at a fork in the clearing of trees.

"Crud!," Hop stomped down a foot looking left and right down the paths. "Which way did it go?!"

"I don't know. Ugh. What do we do now?"

"The fastest way to find it would be to split up and cover more ground."

"What?!" You snapped to Hop. "Absolutely not! What if you two get lost?!"

"I'll stick with Gloria and we'll go together!," Hop easily assured you. "We have our phones so we can call for help or use a map to get back! And Glory has her cinderance! We can have them shoot fire in the air like a flare if nothing else works!"

"Yeah!" Gloria piped up. "C'mon Y/n. Relax and help."

Well...Mustard did say Gloria needed to do more things herself. You groaned but nodded. "Alright. You guys go that way and I'll go right. But keep your phones handy and call me if you find it or need help. And try not to get lost."

"Don't worry, Y/n! Besides getting lost is Lee's thing not mine."

"Well don't pull a Leon." Both laughed but agreed before turning and excitedly making their way down the left path leaving you with Silver. With a sigh you turned to start walking down the right way. "C'mon Silver. Let's go find that applin and get back with the others. Keep your eyes open for an applin.

With a chirp Silver loyally followed you down the right forest pathway. The warm sun beat down on you and the sun shown brightly above the sky. A lot of wild pokemon could be seen running around the forest between the flora and fawna. Playing, sleeping, eating, and just living out here in general. It was beautiful. You wished you had more of this peaceful life growing up. Such bliss. However you didn't see a single applin anywhere. Darn it! But you kept looking and looking and looking. Farther and farther you went. Looking everywhere and pushing apart tall grass and bushes to peer behind them. No such luck. Only finding every pokemon besides applins. Ugh! Where could it have gone?! You were just about to turn around and call it quits since clearly the applin didn't come down this way or if it did it was already long gone when-

B O O M-!!

What sounded like a giant crash sound sent pokemon running away from you and Silver diving behind you once again as you turned up to the sky. You knew what that noise was by now. Someone was having a pokemon battle out here. But...who? You were practically in the middle of nowhere! Maybe someone was catching some wild pokemon? For whatever reason your curiosity got the better of you and you started to head towards where the sounds came from. Bushes and grass pushed out of your way as the sounds of a man's desperate pleas cutting through the air making you feel a wave of panic and run faster. Someone was in trouble! They needed help!

"Where do you think you're going?!," a familiar man's voice asked. "You WILL battle me again!"

"Aaah! P-Please put me down!", another man's voice yelled out.

You ran and ran until you eventually rounded around a giant tree and froze at what you saw. A beautiful clearing stood before you beautifully covered in wild flowers however that wasn't what caught your attention. It was the two men in the middle of the field. Standing there clear as day was Avery with his back to you and one hand held up. Above him in the air was another man who bore a panicked look surrounded by the same blue aura that was levitating Avery's pokeballs. He frantically ran through the air kicking his legs and arms about to no avail not able to escape Avery as he levitated him in the air.

"Please put me down!," the floating man pleaded again almost on the verge of crying. "I-I don't want to battle anymore!"

"Not until you battle me again! I barely have any worthy opponents on this isle so you'll do!," Avery refused bringing him closer.

You stared in disbelief before you scowled hard at the sight. "YOU PUT HIM DOWN NOW!!!" Avery jumped as whirled around wide eyed. Freezing as soon as he saw your form stomping up to him only to stop right in front of him and pointing at his face. "What the heck do you think you're doing?! Put that guy down!"

Avery still seemed in a state of shock before shaking his head and frowning. "Now you see here! This man is my opponent and I will have another battle!"

"Are you confused?! Or insane?!," you shouted back to him pointing at the still panicking man. "That's holding someone hostage!"

"I don't expect you to understand of course. No one would understand my problems with-"

He didn't get get to say anything else when two hands grabbed his shirt front and YANKED his tall form downwards to stare deeply at your snarling face as your hands balled into tight fists holding his still. "Alright. Listen up you wannabe psychic psycho! Since apparently you can't read minds I'll spell it out for you instead! What you're doing is basic kidnapping and holding someone hostage! You don't seem to realize how bad that is! It's no wonder you never were able to be a gym leader!" Avery flinched. Hard. His face falling into a shocked look of hurt. "You. Put. Him. Down. N O W!!!" You ended your yell with a little shove to Avery.

....The man instantly fell to the ground with a loud thud. Taking the opportunity, the man scrambled up and immediately fled as fast as he could. Dashing across the field and disappearing quickly into the treeline. You waited until he was safely away from Avery before releasing the blonde man and stepping back still scowling.

"Don't you EVER do that again!," you snarled at him pointing, "If I EVER see you doing that again to ANYONE not only will I tell Mustard but I'll tell Leon and the Chairwoman too!"

With that you turned around and stomped away from his hurt face with Silver running to catch up to you. Avery continued to stare helplessly at you before the pokeballs fell from his head pathetically falling to the ground before the first few years filled his eyes.

You didn't see much of Avery after that day. You met up with Hop and Gloria who had managed to indeed find and capture some nectar from the applin after it fell out of a tree and onto Gloria's head. Turns out the nectar wasn't what they were looking for either so it would take Hop and Gloria some research and brainstorming to figure it out. In the meantime as days passed, they buried themselves with FINALLY being able to finish Gloria's dex challenge and going around finding more and MORE run away digletts and trading them back to the guy. Gloria was also able to trade a bunch of other people for other different regional pokemon. Some of which she gave Hop who blushed a bit. Ah. Looks like the crush was still strong with him. Which reminded you-

"Hey. What pokemon did Gloria give you?," you asked him one day while Gloria was busy training. "I know she gave Marnie a purloin and Bede and Victor a pokemon too. So what did she give you?"

Hop blushed deeply and rubbed his neck as he did before chuckling. "well....I guess you'll know anyways once she finally confesses her love to me."

"Say what?"

"She gave me an applin before she left!," he smiked widely. "I knew she liked me better that that cotton for brains Bede! I haven't brought it up yet cuz I wanted her to focus on her training! HA! Take that Befe! In your face!!"

You facepalmed hard. First she gifts Bede a lovdisc without knowing the meaning of that and now she mistakenly gifted Hop an applin. Sigh. Gloria's love rivalry continued. At least you knew what happened to the applin Gloria left in her backpack for so long. Days also passed. Gloria still trained hard and you and Hop Always helped her with her turn in chores. Kubfu and her was getting bolder and bolder and she even got to battle Ms. Honey whom gifted her a special pair of league cards as a thank you for helping to spruce up the place. She also gave Hyde a lot of watts too to power up his strange machine and had gotten a polygon pokemon from his as a thanks. Gloria also seemed to have gotten along better with Klara even having a rematch battle with her. Klara lost but she seemed to be taking it a lot better than she did previously. However...Avery was barely present at all. In fact it was like he was mostly invisible. When he was doing training or some of his punishment chores, he would either turn away from you or do everything he could to avoid eye contact, and would pretend you didn't exist when he was assigned to do chores alongside Gloria. Silent and keeping to himself which was... actually odd. Maybe you scared him a lot more than you meant too. You had found out that Avery did end up rebattling Gloria again too after her training but that was the extent of it. Until one day you spotted something strange. You exited the kitchen after getting Silver a snack and found Gloria and Hop posing with Klara for a picture before she signed something for Gloria and haded her another league card.

Confused you walked up to them as Klara left. "Hey guys. What's up?"

"Y/n!" Hop smiled brightly at you. "We finally found out what that certain something Mustard was talking about is!"

"That's great but what was Klara talking about?"

"Oh! We finally figured out who they are! Turns out Klara n' Avery are gym leaders from the minor division!"

You stared stunned. "Really?"

Hop nodded. "Yeah! Klara just started out a year or two ago but she wasn't exactly ready for the position yet, so she came here to train. Looks like she'll be ready though in no time!"

"What were they doing in Postwick then?"

"They were having a meeting with Lee to see if they could run the gyms again but he didn't think they were ready yet. So they came back here for more training." Smart choice on Leon's part. Hop sighed putting his hands behind his head. "I do feel kinda bad for Avery though."

You rose a brow. "For Avery? Why?"

"His family was really hard on him and they didn't treat him well from what I overheard Lee talking about." Both you and Gloria looked shocked.

"Ah. Ye poor lad."

Hop nodded with a sigh. "You see his entire family has always ran the psychic type gym but once he started making everyone who beat him levitate well ...From what I heard they almost disowned him after nearly getting kicked off the league circuit. Lee was the one who saved his position and Avery came here soon after. I think he's doing a lot better too...But it's weird. He's been really down lately. I wonder why?"

You knew exactly why. A very bad and guilty feeling settled deep in your guts as you realized that-....You had really messed up. You had messed up BIG TIME.

"So anyways we can find what we need by taking a flying taxi over to the honeycomb shaped island off the isle. Wanna come, Y/n?"

You numbly shook your head. "Nah...You guys go ahead...I need to think over something."

"Alright then. C'mon Glory! Let's go get that max honey!"

They both left leaving you shellshocked and numb for a while. Somehow you managed to stumble your way outside and sit on the steps of the dojo putting your head in your hands. Arceus you messed up badly. You didn't know Avery was-...That he-...That his family-..You buried your head in your hands groaned loudly again. What were going to do?!

"Y/n?" You jumped up and looked right at none other than Ms. Honey. She was giving you a concerned look. "Sweetie you look down. Did you get into a fight with someone?"

You stared wide eyed. "How did you know?"

"I have my ways." She slowly sat down next to you. "What happened?"

You groaned looking away. "I got in a fight with someone because he was doing something really bad but now I found out he came from a bad family life and now I feel bad but at the same time I don't think I was in the wrong because what he was doing was back. But now he's been down a lot and someone told me he has been working hard to get better so now I feel even more bad and he's avoiding me like the plague. So I have absolutely no idea what to do!!" You grabbed your head frustrated.

Honey blinked and didn't say anything for a real long time before looking down. "You know when my hubby told me he wanted to open a dojo of his own, I have to admit I had a lot of doubts. I was still working at my previous job at the time and there was simply so much work into getting the dojo built. Let alone the question of whether anyone would want to move to an uninhabited island like this just to train at an unknown dojo."

You stared at her blinking widely at her. "What.. happened?"

..She gave a soft huff shaking her head. "We got into a couple fights. I didn't want to put everything in this in case it failed I thought he was crazy to try and start this idea all those years ago going about this all the wrong way...and he was throwing everything at it instead of taking time out to plan it out. But..I eventually realized that fighting with someone who was trying hard in the wrong way wouldn't help them. You have to talk it out and help them." You stared at her wide eyed. "So we did and I finally agreed to give it a shot. My hubby and I put our all into this place and years later when Hyde came along all our previous students pitched in and helped us through it. We've made it to where we are today because we got help from so many people. This has been an entirely different chapter of my life, but it's turned out to be a great one." She looked at you with a smile. "So you see...Whether people need a little or a lot of help, they'll always be better afterwards. For some people it just takes a little bit longer and a bit more help."

You stared at her for a long, long moment before sighing and turning away. "Yeah. I guessed I messed up there."

"Well it's not too late," she assured you patting your back. "You can still apologize."

"I don't even know if he'll forgive me."

"Oh I bet he will. If I know Avery, he'll shake it off and bounce back quickly."

You whipped to her wide eyed. "How did you know it was Avery?!"

She smiled. "I have my ways." She stood up again. "Just think it over. Ok, Sweetie? I'm sure you both would feel better if you talked it out. If you want to find Avery just talk to my hubby. He always knows where he's gone training."

With that Ms. Honey left you sitting there staring.. before you sighed again.

a couple predictions for pj:eg:

i think desmond is going to try to kill, but ultimately fail and get killed himself.

i think ulysses might kill next chapter, but i also think his sense of smell such an obvious chekhov's gun that they'll subvert it and he might survive the whole game.

i also think the mastermind ulysses theory has some merit, but I dont think it'll actually happen. I feel like they're setting up a smaller story with him

kai will die but itll happen ch4/ch5. lowkey his death would be good for damon's arc, but theres no way they'd kill him off so early because switching rooms a chapter after they're assigned would just be really strange from a narrative standpoint.

theres a bunch of chrs i have no clue what to do with lol. Jean might die but i can also see him living... pretty convinced jett's not making it out though. he's for sure hiding smth ngl

DR:OS CH2 Part 3 First Impressions

I have bad news chat. We're barely in Part 3 of CH2 and I'm already running out of ways to introduce these posts. I have no idea what these little opening sections are gonna look like by the time CH4 rolls around, let alone any further. But that sounds like a problem for future me, so for now, let's get into it!

"Many people shift where they’re sitting, some moving farther back to hide, others farther forward to identify a victim more quickly. I make my way to the same seat I’ve always claimed. So what if Vanessa isn’t beside me anymore? I’m not budging." Man, the tension can really be felt in the air, huh?

"Noah: …Mom?" Huh! Didn't he say it would probably be his dad? Interesting. I wonder if he was just wrong, or if this implies that his dad's already been dead for a while given the whole Tragedy thing, and Monoquin had to resort to someone else.

In different news, do we think Noah's gonna let Vivi try their experiments? I could see it going either way frankly.

"If my mom turned up dead…

In a meta sense, would it be better if I didn’t care?" I wonder what Ellis means by this. I guess he really wouldn't care too much, otherwise he'd have told Aidan that his mom was probably his loved one in the last part. So, maybe they're trying to see the silver lining on that? Maybe.

"Harper: Noah, can you hear me? Please say something.

He doesn’t." Yeah, Noah was already kinda struggling and trying to push through it anyways, and now this...

"Grace: Well, one of you should get to it, shouldn’t you?

Robert: What…?

Grace: It would mean two people would have to lay down their lives, but the fewest deaths would occur if someone willingly stepped up to the plate." Well, they weren't kidding when they said Grace hated wasting time, damn! Going for the Minimum Death% speedrun on a motive is pretty in line with them, I guess :p

"Mark: Still, it’s a big thing to sacrifice yourself for someone else, right? No matter how many people it is… I’m not sure it’s right to ask others to sacrifice themselves for your loved ones.

Grace: Well, I’m not asking anyone to sacrifice themself for my loved one. It’s just a suggestion for the rest of you. I don’t have anything to do with this motive anymore." Motives like this that force murder through the threat of death are always so heartbreaking T_T

"Aidan: …It’s bad to discuss this stuff so openly. Even if we made a plan openly, where Person A kills Person B, someone could take that plan and use it to frame Person A, maybe even winning the Trial. Don’t make such serious plans somewhere everyone can hear." Aidan being reasonable and GOATed as always, but I do like that this idea is already being floated around. A sacrifice murder is always an interesting thing to see the characters consider with all their respective perspectives.

"Aidan: Tough it out or make the decision on your own. If I’m right, and there are three blanks in there, that’s already five down. Eight people left. There are more people still alive here than eight, right? So if you’re going purely on numbers, if there’s no sacrifice, it’s better to wait it out.

Kennedy: If you’re right.

Aidan: Goddamn it, are we really doing this again?" Yes, you are, the beef with Kennedy is eternal xD. In any case, bringing numbers into it doesn't help all that much, but yeah.

"Aidan: Like I said, we shouldn’t be talking about this publicly anywhere. If someone’s serious about the whole sacrifice thing, they can just kill me, no questions asked.

Davis: Wh– Aidan!

Aidan: What?

Davis: You shouldn’t just… volunteer like that…!

Aidan: It’s not like it matters…" O-kay, holy hell! He really just doesn't care about absolutely anything, huh? This is getting to suicidal territory by now, Aidan are you good? Also Davis being the one vocally against the idea makes sense.

"‘Cause, it definitely seems like people are starting to come to a consensus about a group death. Sacrifice, someone working for their own motives– either way, we can all feel another murder on the horizon." Yeah I think this is the fastest I've ever seen a cast semi-universally agree that another murder is about to happen, which is wild lol.

"I guess overall, things are moving along as expected. It’s just more of a downer than I’d hoped. These loved ones are being killed alongside the vibe." Ellis.

[Vivi FTE] Let's go!!!

"Ellis: Uh, just checking this place out. And checking you out, too.

I wink and grin, though it’s a little half-hearted.

Vivi: Wait, really?

She beams.

Vivi: I can tell you about what I’m working on, if you want!" Vivi's the most aro-ace person ever and I love that for them. She just never reacts to Ellis' flirting it's great xD

"Vivi: Right now, I’m trying stuff out with electricity. I know it’s, like, the most cliche “bring back the dead” idea, but that’s ‘cause it kinda makes sense, right?

Ellis: I dunno, didn’t they just make that up for the movie…?

Vivi: Well, it’s like, electricity can prompt movement, and brains are… kinda electric, so that part sorta makes sense." How scientific! I love it! xp

"Ellis: Is it really a “little” failure if you’ve potentially ruined the possibility of that person ever coming back to life again?

What am I saying?!" Yeah conversations with Vivi this chapter are pretty weird lol.

"Vivi: I haven’t tried resurrecting people before, no, but I’ve had tons of success when they’re alive! Like, curing paralysis, fixing terminal illnesses… I can fix anything you bring to me within a few days." She really is just incredibly good at this, huh? It's so incredible I'm starting to wonder if it's not too good to be true. I don't have any other reason to doubt her for now, but you know. There's always the possibility that they're being lied to about their successes or something. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and all that, and all I have for now is their word lol :p

"Ellis: It shouldn’t matter what the person looks like if it’s an incurable illness! That’s incurable!

Vivi: But not for me! That’s why I’m known as a miracle worker. People come from, like, all over to bring their loved ones to me. In return, I make sure that their journey was worth it.

But HOW?!" Well it seems Ellis is sharing my skepticism at least xD

"Vivi: You’re not going to go doubting that, like, Harper is an Ultimate. You’re not going to do that for plenty of people here. So, why for me…?

Ellis: I never said it was just you. It can be, like 50-50.

Vivi: …

She turns her attention to the medical devices again.

Vivi: At some point, I’ll… I’ll prove to you that I’m not just making this up. I really can…" Well Vivi other people are claiming they're able to do things that other people can replicate. Just, they do it really well. Claiming the impossible is a bit harder to believe.

"There are lots of things I could believe. I could believe that Vivi is just a really talented doctor, especially for their age. I could believe that she was chosen based on some level of skill. Maybe even for the healing paralysis thing– that, I could believe.

But curing terminal illnesses? Working miracles? Raising people from the goddamn DEAD?! That’s science fiction. What would it take to make her see that…?" Yeah that. Seems that Ellis and me are on the same page that something doesn't really feel right about Vivi's claims. I guess we'll have to see how right or wrong we are on that.

"I walk towards Noah’s room under the guise of heading towards mine, hoping that I can at least hear crying coming out of it, if nothing else. Just to know that he… hasn’t joined his mom already." Bro?! Alright we're immediately worried about worst case scenario, I see. I guess makes sense given the stuff that got talked about earlier.

"Harper: I made care packages for those who are grieving. I know it’s not much, but… I want to do something to help make it easier for them. I was about to go and deliver them." Harper's so nice :)

"Vanessa: I really hated how last Trial ended. But, it won’t be awful forever, y’know? So, thanks. You guys are welcome to knock on my door anytime." Yay for Vanessa slowly getting better :D

"Grace: Is this really the best use of your time?

Ellis: Sounds more fun to me than plotting murder.

Grace: Are you two intending to let your loved ones, along with everyone else’s, die? Or are you wasting your time because you haven’t realized that every moment wasted is someone’s life on the line?

Harper: I–

Grace: If you’ll excuse me, I’ll be working on finding any potential ways out of the Resort to end this wretched killing game. If you want to do some actual good in this situation, then you can talk to me." I sense Grace is not in the best of moods, really. Don't know why, just getting the feeling. :p

"Ellis: I mean, they took it, at least…

Harper: …Right. Maybe it can still bring them some amount of comfort." Well, I appreciate the optimism at least!

"Ve pulls out ver e-Handbook and sends Noah a message. We wait a few moments, looking at the screen together, but there’s no indication he’s read it, nor that he’s going to respond.

Ellis: Maybe he’s… napping.

Harper: Possibly…" Hey, Noah's not actually dead, right? It's still too early in the chapter. Surely he's fine, right? Maybe?

"Ellis: I know you’re closer to him than we are, though. Did you ever… meet her?

Harper: No, I never did. I’ve hardly even heard Noah mention her. Still, even before this morning… Hasn’t he seemed a bit more muted, since the Trial?

Ellis: Um… I guess? I mean, like, we still went out for drinks and stuff after that, so he wasn’t that out of it…" Yeah, Noah's already not been looking too hot. The question of why it was his mom and not his dad is still hanging in the air, and for now I'm sticking to the idea that the rest of his family was already dead. Thing is, if Noah's reached the same conclusion, that could be a bit of a problem.

"Just as I’m thinking about how amazing it is that we actually manage to all show up for dinner in the same place at around the same time, I realize that Noah hasn’t shown up here, either." Noah please.

"Grace: I take no pleasure in being here.

Ellis: Well, I take pleasure in seeing… all of you.

Just because Grace is now technically single does NOT mean that I’m going to flirt with them!!!" Ellis. You came way too close to actually doing that my guy. Geez...

"Grace: The longer they let this go on before committing to their decision, the more people die. If no one kills now, doesn’t it make it all the more morally questionable if someone does break later?" They sure are trying to get this point across, huh?

"I scoff.

Ellis: Sorry we can’t all be as brave as you." Wow, Ellis getting sassy :O

The entire rest of that conversation is also really cool btw :D

"Harper: Noah responded to my message. He’s alright, taking time to himself."

"Ellis: thats gr8 2 hear!

Ellis: any sense of when he might b ready to rejoin society?

Ellis: ik he’ll have 2 b there for the motive 2morrow :("

I can't believe Ellis types like this. I mean it's entirely in line with her character, but it pains me in my soul when people do this.

Also I suddenly get the feeling that Noah might already be dead and the killer is the one who sent the message with his handbook. It's only a gut feeling, I don't have much basis for it, but I still worry we might not actually be saved after all.

"Even if I can’t hear Noah inside, I can at least hear from him through Harper texting me." Yeah... not reassuring.

"Mark: Hey Ellis. You busy? Ellis: 4 u? course not ;) Mark: Wanna go for a walk? Ellis: if ur that desperate to spend the night with me, sure ;P <3"

Peculiar.

"See, Grace, I can’t go off murdering people because my DMs are flooded. I’m busy." Pfft. Funny as this is, the fact that you're still thinking about it kinda says you're quite bothered by it, doesn't it, Ellis?

"Mark: I was hoping to look around outside at night to see if anything’s changed. I thought you might still be up.

Wait, I don’t have eyebags, do I?!" Pfft x2. Btw, Mark's keeping up their detective-y tendencies from the first trial, I see. Neat to see.

"Mark: I wonder if that’s what the Resort was going for.

Ellis: What, trying to get people to hook up? That seems kinda counter to the goal.

Mark: Who knows? Maybe whoever set this up just wants entertainment.

Ellis: It’s an attraction full of attraction…

Mark: It’s definitely true that they’re shoving a bunch of us together for an extended period of time in isolation. That’s a pretty normal tactic for shows that are trying to set people up.

Ellis: You think it’s a show, specifically?

Mark: I’m not sure. Probably, though? It’s sort of like what we were saying earlier. If the game isn’t for us, it has to be for someone, right? There are cameras everywhere." Neat to see we're already exploring this angle. Not necessarily the romance side of the equation, more so the "televised killing game" idea.

"Ellis: Well, jeez. Don’t give them fanservice that obvious." Lmao.

"Mark: What do you think you’re going to do, when you get out of here?

Ellis: Go back to my regular life, I think.

Maybe visit my family more." Ouchie.

"Mark: But, you don’t think that anything that happens here will change that life at all? You’d go back to the same thing as though nothing ever happened?

Ellis: Uh… that was the plan.

Mark: Huh.

Ellis: What? Amazed by my emotional fortitude?

Mark: I guess it’s just… hard for me to imagine. Probably because I’m not sure what returning to “the same thing” even means for me." Yeah this tracks.

"Mark: I’d like to try things out. Take some time to find “me” again. Beyond that… I’m not sure. Maybe when finding myself, I’d find my true calling or something" Talking about what you're gonna do when you get out is usually a death flag, but if I decide to ignore that, the sentiment is actually pretty nice!

"Mark: …I’m not sure. I’d probably ask one of you.

Ellis: Hmm… how about swimsuit modeling?

Mark blushes.

Mark: I don’t know about that one." xD Never lets one go everyone!!!

"...I didn’t expect that [the day] would end with me knowing that Noah is (...was?) alive in his room..." Ellis you have got to stop thinking exactly like me, people are gonna think I'm reading ahead xD

"Where do the bodies go, once the day passes? I haven’t seen Justin’s body anywhere." That is a hell of a question! I wonder if it'll come back up later.

What a fun part! Vivi's FTE was fun, Grace's confrontation was great to see, the walk with Mark was nice, and we still have the question of why it was Noah's mom in the motive and no one else. As always, very excited for the next one! See ya'll then!
