the hilarity of thaddeus bringing vaughn to kaer seren just HIT me

vaughn: a keep full of monster hunting witchers? that was recently attacked by mages? thaddeus: yeah vaughn: and you want to bring me, a mage that can also be classified as a monster, there? thaddeus: it’ll be fine! i’m half-vampire and i’m part of the family  vaughn: you’re WHAT?!

honestly all this thaddeus and vaughn stuff is making me extremely emo! i’ve had these two characters for years and for some reason never thought about them being connected and now i can’t stop thinking about them!

all this time i never really thought seriously about thaddeus and vaughn interacting but NOW i have some ideas 

— basic idea is the two working together to go after the vampire that “killed” thaddeus’s mom (which is something i have barely touched with thad’s story and it makes more sense to tie vaughn in with that then the fall of kaer seren stuff)  — potential idea of vaughn having taken his castle from a higher vampire and actually killing them cause of his curse/monster form so that later thaddeus hears about a higher vampire being killed by something other than another higher vampire so of course he goes to check this castle out — cue thaddeus showing up at the creepy castle and fighting scary monster that turns out to just be some emo cursed mage so of course thaddeus wants to help him (he also wants his help but ya know)  — tis the double combo of thaddeus wanting to help vaughn break his evil curse and vaughn having to help thaddeus with his quest cause of his other curse where he has to help people who come to him with worthy causes  — anyway potential for lots of cool interactions and bonding as the two lads go on a quest to avenge thaddeus’s mom (also saving her cause she ain’t dead just captured) and break vaughn’s curse cause he finds true friendship in thaddeus and all of the witcher’s friends they meet along the way 🥰

not super serious drama but it is the energy of meredith fully being ready to tear vaughn apart if sinead gives the word

DRAKE - this isn't enough for you

the words creep into your head in the dead of night one night and you cannot get rid of them. 'this isn't enough for me anymore'. you thought this was enough for you at some point, or maybe you hoped that it would be, but it isn't, and it hurts. you need to change something, or die trying. this - life like this - does not make life worth living. there is a lump in your throat that demands attention every waking moment of the day. there is pain in your body like a cavernous maw you cannot keep balance over. this is not what you wanted. you need to change. you can't stay here. it is not a character flaw you want more.

VAUGHN - you were meant to

it was built into you. designed for you. there is pain here because it was meant for you, and how fucking dare they. your suffering is not their right. you hurt because they gave you ways to suffer and carved it into you when you could not breathe, because the intention always was that they could weaponize your pain against you. it is Yours. You are Yours. How fucking dare they. they cannot make you theirs; do not let them try.

THADDEUS - you're choking on how much you have to try

you have tried. you have carried the weight of the world on your shoulders and accepted more responsibilities than you have ever wanted, even intended to gain. it isn't crushing - you are strong enough to hold it - but you are choking. you don't know what to do with it. you don't know where it goes, how to move this weight everyone knows you can hold onto, and do you even want to get rid of it? Never. You would not give this to - force this on - anyone else. but you /can't/. but you are choking on it. your body will hold it up even when you lose all the air in your lungs, and your footing, and your courage. it does not mind choking you. it seems almost designed to do so. if you weren't wrung out you wouldn't be doing this thing properly.

EMRYS - you swallow pain & fold around it

you have always hurt. you hold it carefully, and twisted in such a way that other people don't have to see it. you don't choke on it. you don't drown. you just have it, the way some people have freckles, this is a thing that lives in your bones. you fold instead of fighting because you know how to make yourself small, tuck away the places where they have clawed at, swallow the bruises so you seem clean. nobody needs to see it. you will live through this on your own. you know what you need, and relief isn't it. this doesn't mean you cannot reach out - it means it is not in your nature to do so. you should. hiding does not mean you won't be seen.

my life is consumed by sea shanties rn so have some oc thoughts...

-Drake’s life just being full of shanties from the moment he was born! He knows so many and they all remind him of different parts of his life; some about his navy life and his father and others bringing him back to his early pirate years and reminding him of his mother

-Drake getting lowkey emotional singing the ones he used to sing with his mother’s crew cause he’ll never get to sing with them ever again RIP

-Drake singing shanties with the party and making new memories with them :’) 

-Vaughn absolutely loving shanties and getting to express his musical talent! His best memories from his pirate days being singing with his sister <3

-Vaughn absent mindedly humming shanties while alone in his castle...and when he catches himself misses his sister hardcore :(

-Vaughn singing shanties with his new friends (amelia and maeve the ones immediately coming to mind) and eventually getting to sing with his sister again!
