Ash kinda knew this was coming, seeing, feeling- the extent of the injury this time, it wasn't like on the ship with Zach where it simply slammed and pinched a nerve and he was back up in less than a week. This time it was bad, he could've seen and felt his shoulder not where it should be, sticking out awkwardly until Ruth popped it back in. ..Why is his shoulder injury now always in correlation with ships? It wasn't a surprise for Mr Wexley to hold him back after their post quarantine debrief on both sides of events, to talk to him alone.

"You're gonna stop me from going out there, aren't you?" Ash could only lean back on the large main table once it was just them two. "It's an old injury," though even a blind man could see it in his voice and stature, his left arm kept completely still delicatedly held together by a brace and movements sluggish throughout that entire meeting.

a belter born on ceres station. smth smth alienage in the human city of denerim can be a parallel to the belter city that's controlled by the UN. they're both also port cities. coincidence?? i think not. 

her family's hole (cannot believe i have to write that, instead of home like a normal person, to stay faithful to canon) was close to the station’s spin, just underneath the line of being considered too small for a family of 5 to live in. the two bedrooms were split between the parents in one and the three siblings sharing the second, and their living room had a slash in the wall that showed the native rock (never repaired, but her dad would eventually paint a mural there and blend it in). 

her mom was Definitely in the OPA, i don't even have to spend time considering it. wenna would have been a devoted member of the faction, raising her kids on all of the speeches about belter pride and the dignity they were owed, righteous in her anger over their continual mistreatment. so this means she absolutely died in a star helix raid on an OPA hideout that was suspected to be the hub of some illegal activity. it definitely wasn't and in the end it's just another for the tally of injustices done against belters 🤷‍♀️

i may be 9 books into this series and have consumed a bit more sci-fi media in general over the last few years, but my god do i still forget Jobs in these settings so easily. so after browsing a few google results, i'm thinking she'd have doubled down on studying/training to eventually become a chief navigator, with some secondary work in astronomy and geoscience. probably some just-above-standard mathematics and computers thrown in there too for good measure. she's a proper belter, they're always having to learn all they can just to adapt and survive.

she took on numerous small OPA jobs to make ends meet for the family, offered to her because wenna was well respected and nobody wants to see her family starve after she'd passed. jorina only took the ones that were simple and quick, and least likely to tie her to the organization. she believes in their overall values wholeheartedly, but didn't want to become dependent on their sporadic work for income,,,and also, yeah, maybe some of the more hardcore members scared her a bit.

apoc au riya (with classic zombies in mind)

thinks about victor's death translating to somebody finding him already killed and being torn apart by zombies. throws up, wails,, jumps off a cliff,,, at least she's starting off the journey w semi-equal trauma to canon 💜 

the girly who had too much faith in the system and thought everything would be contained in like a week so she didn't worry about preserving anything whatsoever. she's throwing a fit on day 8 because her phone is dead and she can't listen to her comfort music literally what's the fucking point anymore just take her out now-

wanna have her separated from family just for the drama of it. no solid plot reasons, i just wanna see riya having an abrupt and overwhelming breakdown like 2 months in when she realizes she can no longer lie to herself and has to accept she won't see her family again due to distance and no possibility of communication. i fear the daddy’s girl may not survive this, fellas.

unexpected tradeswoman when people realize that she's been hoarding beauty and personal care items since month 1 while normal people were stocking up the usual survival necessities. so fun picking on the spoiled girl for having her perfume in the apocalypse until you desperately want some shampoo and realize she's your only option atm.

kinda funny if riya's battle mage skills translate to her being surprisingly good at picking up combat skills against the undead in this au. 10 minute preparation speech from bastian as he's gearing up to show her how to use a pistol and she ends up sinking like three headshots on the first round, then hits him with the “what, like it's hard???” line. has to use an axe to cut her way out of a corner she was being backed into and she comes out without a scratch but absolutely raging over her chipped nails and the blood that is actively staining her $450 jacket.

Ash dusted off his hands as he took a step back from their half baked space, map of Manhattan up on a wall while the rest of the once unoccupied apartment was moved around to have a central operations table instead. After Mr Wexley had spoke to the both them, coming together to kick things off was the next logical step. As requested, Ash and Zach had been given a large map, a space to work and plan, and a list of volunteers willing to go outside. "Still can't believe he had a map so ready on hand," he sighed at the new working space infront of him now and looked over to Zach, "think this'll work?"

♥ (03) Are there any romantic gestures that your OC loves?

RIYA — gifts gifts gifts gifts, getting coddled (pampered in a bath, given a massage, being fed by hand, etc), love letters, open affection through physical touch, reading to her. Riya never had to worry about it before while she living the spoiled and sheltered life, but having her mental health considered/asked after without her being the one to prompt it first is gonna do big numbers for anybody in the future with how this Warden life has been treating her.

JORINA — breakfast in bed, having dinner ready when she’s finished working, leaving a love note in her field journal, doing chores to take them off her plate, gifting her flowers 🥰 highkey i think she’d thoroughly enjoy those personalized scavenger hunts that end in a dinner or something else sweet like that.

MEREDITH — full-body massage she's so full of tension at all hours lmao, clearing a portion of her schedule to spend the time together (only works if she knows her responsibilities were handed off to people she trusts can handle them), cooking for her, kisses to her hands, putting in work to make her laugh.

♥ (12) What do you love most about your OC?

RIYA — that she’s impulsive tbh. my usual ocs lean more towards being planners or at least taking the time to think things through a little before they act, but Riya’s driven by pure instinct and following her heart without considering any domino effect to come of that. it’s a little hard for me to do sometimes because that’s not my own vibe (ie: recent session with Riya's decision to teleport to her brother’s home instead of Weisshaupt, she wouldn't hesitate but i did for a minute above table lmao) but it’s so so so fun to play with. can't wait to see what nonsense she can get into down the line if she doesn't change in this aspect.

JORINA — that she was born from a goof of being challenged to make an oc just based off the fc in a show but ended up as a beloved babygirl. she was just supposed to be a “ha there i did it” concept but the affection came on so quick!! i love her <333

MEREDITH — i consider Mere to be my first DA oc (didn't know the world well enough for Ellana to count, she was just a pretty face) and my adoration for her has just always been there. it’s a constant amongst the wavering love and enjoyment i have for my ocs, and it’s comforting to have a girly that i love so much despite how long she’s been around and the various little patch notes she’s gotten through the years to reach where she is.

♥ (13) How does your OC show their love to those that are not their partner(s)?

RIYA — one of Riya’s big things is that love is love, and there aren’t really strict lines between the different types of it for her. it’s more of a gradient?? familial and romantic are on opposite ends, and friends are in-between receiving the best of both worlds. she’s free with her affection, non-partners still receive the abundance of physical touch, loving words, and spoiling with gifts.

JORINA — remembering their preferences, setting down her work more gently than she would with others to engage in conversation, including them in her plans when she thinks they'd like to be part of them. it takes a little more effort but sometimes she'll take notes on or sketch things she sees while traveling that remind her of them. i also think she’s one to repair/upkeep gear out of habit, and she’d add items from people she loves into her checklist.

MEREDITH — biggest display is taking time out of her day to be with them, stands out the most when she agrees to take part in something frivolous for that time. i think she also enjoys carefully curating a little bundle of gifts for those she loves on holidays or other special occasions, sorta the perfect way to show how closely she pays attention to and cares for them through giving fantastic gifts that fit their wants or preferences.

♥ (23) What is your OC’s favorite nice thing to do for themselves?

RIYA — well, i can think of quite a few from before Warden LifeTM but those are hardly applicable after recruitment. i think now it's something simple like dropping the extra coin to get herself a treat whenever possible (food, clothes, cosmetics, etc etc), or spending a few more minutes on her hair while getting ready. they make her feel a tad bit lighter before all the doom and gloom of their day-to-day inevitably forces its way back to center stage.

JORINA — i'm learning that i haven't given Jorina enough kindness from her own self because i couldn't think of anything for this one for an embarrassingly long time. during scout era maybe it was occasionally spending coin on an inn room?? seems like the kind of indulgence that she could talk herself into enjoying and getting over the "waste of coin" if she tried hard enough (or had help from Aleksi lmao).

MEREDITH — buying herself a new piece for her wardrobe, i think. kinda fun getting to just be a lady for a few minutes, responsibilities and dread forgotten, and get excited about a new accessory or coat or whatever caught her eye so fiercely that she had no choice but to grab it up. the occasions where she has an excuse to have a new dress made?? over the moon.
