Heidi then using shatter, rolling garbage damage (8), the creature passing cutting that in half (4), and then cutting it in half again (2) because apparently they are also resistant to thunder damage:

We all survived the aboleth haha

though Heidi went unconscious twice and rolled a nat 1 on a death saving throw and nearly died died. Bash is honestly pretty shook up over it since she went down twice in water and he spent the second half of the fight just trying to keep her alive.

🐢 a mental health headcanon

Heidi — she definitely has issues with perfectionism almost to a neurotic level and is extremely harsh on herself and her abilities. she strives to be perfect with her magic and gets in a real bad headspace if she does not live up to these standards she sets for herself. it usually translates into bouts of her pouring over wizard tomes and not sleeping until she thinks she’s made progress.

Nolan — when he’s Stressed (which is often unfortunately) he tends to retreat inwards and ends up thinking in circles. he really benefits from having someone he trusts to talk things out with, whether it’s a case or simply what his dinner plans are. this leads to him talking out loud to himself often as a way to ground himself and to keep from spirally into anxiety.

🤲 a religious headcanon

Heidi — in the setting she’s from all the religious orders are pretty anti-arcane magic so she does not have any good feelings toward religion in general. if anything I feel like she kinda has a lowkey Spite thing going on whenever she learns a new spell cause she’s doing this on her own and not in some temple being watched over. just a little smirk to herself knowing she is exactly what the order dislikes.

Nolan — anytime he stumbles upon information that helps him crack a case he always sends a silent prayer/thank you to ioun. similarly, he’ll sometimes find himself asking her for guidance if he is stumped. it comes from a place of worship kinda but also is a little connection to his father cause he is a fervent ioun follower.

⛈️ a sadness headcanon

Heidi — sadness is not something she experiences often but if she does get hit with those feelings she doesn’t know what to do with herself and kinda just wants to avoid anyone nearby. she simply does not want to be Perceived! she will literally run away if she feels tears coming on!

Nolan — mans had one big ugly cry once and hated every second of it so now he bottles that shit right up! if he finds himself getting Sad for any reason one of his quick fixes is to head to the gym and beat the shit out of some punching bags! avoidance at it’s Finest!
