Heya! I have a question regarding a very interesting panel to me in Thriller Bark!
Do you happen to have Brook’s joining of the crew? Does he word it the same as ‘certain’ kingdom?
I’m trying to do some digging and it’s difficult to find any information!
yeah, he says ある王国/aru oukoku, which would indeed be best translated to 'a certain kingdom' or 'a particular kingdom.' aru [noun] is a fairly common construction in japanese used to refer to 'a specific but unnamed [noun].' for example, when hawkins tells drake in wano arc that "a certain man" has very low chances of living out the night, he words it the same way: aru otoko.

oh gilyoung :(
edit:
IT WASNT HIS MOM?
oh my god so essentially every single adult in gilyoung’s life failed him. no wonder he was so attached to dokja, that man was the only person to ever give him a semblance of parental comfort.

Hi!! I've a question I've been wondering about and I thought I'd ask you because I think you're very smart...
It's a moment towards the end of Thriller Bark — Brook witnessed the entirety of "nothing happened" incident. Later, when he was playing the piano, he talked to Sanji about it for a little bit (ch 486). But then when he and Zoro sat together in the graveyard (ch 489), Brook thought about bringing that up, but ultimately decided against it... why do you think he kept quiet?
I thought he might have been eavesdropping on Sanji's convo with the 2 zombie dudes, but all I got is this small silhouette at the right edge of a panel (ch 486) that I can't even identify. The anime does not show it at all...!
Hello!
That's because Brook saw everything himself! He even says to Sanji that he saw it, and he was very moved by it! He tells Sanji because he wants to let Sanji know he thought what Sanji did was just as moving as what Zoro did, but Zoro HIMSELF hasn't told anyone what's actually happened. Brook probably picked up that, while he can talk to Sanji about it, Zoro would probably speak to Brook like 'nothing happened'. Because both Zoro and Sanji don't want the crew - specifically Luffy - to know what really happened.
In that moment Brook simply understood Zoro's feelings, and allowed Zoro to not have to worry about Brook maybe blabbing to everyone because he knows what really happened lmao. Brook is a very good friend!

Core Writing, Wed. 2.7
Notes on Draft #1 & Paper #1 Grading Rubric (screenshot at top) - Organization and evidence. = as important as the writing itself. Shoot for ⅓ author, ⅔ your idea for Paper #1. You are in charge of the discussion. - Thesis and Body Paragraphs. The last sentence of the intro announces your thesis. Each BP centers on a discussion of TS-E and IS-E supporting that thesis. Each BP revolves around a slightly different idea. - Topic Sentences. The first sentence of each BP announces the idea of that BP, not an author's name or what they say (unless it is leading to what you say). "Murray says..." = No! - Spelling/Grammar. Use a good checker of some kind. - Chat GPT and AI. Acknowledge use, but try to stay away from them, regardless: AI Tools Presentation. - Revision Memo & Final Draft Resources: "A few sentences are fine. Reflect on your writing process by mentioning specific examples, or you will not receive credit for the assignment. 1 What idea did you start this paper with? 2 How did the idea change along the way? 3 How about the writing itself?" Ch. Ch. 5 (“Distinguishing What You Say from What They Say”): - "Voice markers" show who is saying what by emphasizing your contribution vs. the other side. Examples: --“According to administrators, educators, and the press, the pandemic showed us that online education didn’t work. Yet, experts in online education never recommended the kind of thing that happened during the pandemic, and neither would I.” -- “Murray argues that students should already have learned a lot of these topics before college. However, Murray is out of touch with what students actually learn before college.” -- “We all know that, on average, college graduates make significantly more money over their lifetimes than those with only a high school education. What gets less attention is the fact that not all college degrees or college graduates are equal” (Sawhill and Owen 488-489). --“Murray argues for core learning; Graff argues for student interests, but I think that they are both way too idealistic.” Activity Polish your paper by adding voice markers to highlight who is saying what. Homework: Paper #1, FD + Revision Memo by end of class Fri.!

Mobile Spoiler Guide
Most of the posts on this blog are gonna be spoiler-free, but if I'm ever discussing a topic relevant to a specific arc or in a level of detail that would spoil earlier storylines, I will place a spoiler tag. I've decided to have one major spoiler tag for everything after the live action and specific tags for every arc afterwards so that anime/manga fans can block spoilers for every arc they haven't reached yet individually instead of having to block anime/manga spoilers as a whole. Arc-related spoiler tags will be listed here with their chapter and episode numbers for a better overview. There are spoiler tags for the (major) movies, too!
Please let me know if this works for you guys as a spoiler system! It's the safest and most inclusive I could think of, but maybe you have a better idea for me.
Live Action
spoiler: post-la s1 (everything that happens after Season 1 of the live action)
Manga & Anime
I'm mostly gonna be ignoring filler arcs, which is why there's a gap in the episodes sometimes.
