Moebius' failed attempt to create the first feature-length CG animated film.

The late & great comic book artist Jean Giraud/Moebius of The Incal, Arzach, & Blueberry fame partnered with animation company VideoSystem to create a CG animated film called Starwatcher in the early 90s. A short film was created to pitch it to film studios & investors. Had it been picked up, it could've been the first feature-length CGI film.

I found a YT upload of a segment in HD & a Vimeo upload of the entire short film, but it's sadly in a lower quality.

WHAT MAKES THEM TICK

Cool looking robots... what else do you need??? This certainly give off Love, Death + Robots vibes minus the real dark nature of violence or death. This is the type of interstitial programming you'd see in the early 2000s on cable tv, so give it view!

VFX Tests For “Omelette”

For our VFX tests for Omelette, which is currently in preproduction, I originally wanted to do all of the VFX shots practically (meaning a special effect produced physically, without computer-generated imagery) but getting the movement of the egg to not feel like it was swinging off of fishing line proved to be too difficult, so we settled on creating the egg via CGI (which also wasn’t easy - but I’m pretty happy with the results)

Omelette is a Horror/Comedy about a young boy who just wants to practice his telepathy, but his mother has other plans.

I hope you don’t mind me asking but who do you think is the worst Casey? (Saw your tags on the gif set of the 1990 Casey and genuinely though it may be because I love all Casey’s that I can’t guess who xD)

The Bayverse (2016) one. He's got some good scenes, smashing up the bar to get info, charging into fights e.c.t

I'm not even mad they cut his hair but they gave him the Hollywood treatment for parents. And not even like the Hollywood bad boy one, he's so vanilla and basic.

He wants to be a cop and that's fine he wants justice and to be protect people and his personality doesn't have to just be his love for hockey. So I can kind of forgive that too.

But here is Megan Fox doing interviews lusting over bad boy Raphael, and April's usual love interest is Casey and they made him a "nice to meet you sir' kind of guy.

IDK maybe it's the autistic queer in me but I love Casey as this overenthusiastic and passionate outcast and instead we got one who's really kind of tame and cliché. He could have been punk (2012), or just a bit dirty (all the other Casey's but Cassandra). Chipped painted nails he let a troubled local kid Do one time (2003 with Angel). Something. Anything. But no just eye candy for the basic mums who don't want to take their kids to see ninja turtles but do anyway, to help get them through....

THE MECHANICAL DANCER

Could this have been a few minutes shorter? Sure, but looking past that, this is certainly a love letter to German Expressionism, specifically: The Cabinet of Dr Caligari. The animation design and use of only music to convey what's going on and the emotions the characters are feeling, works great!
