After The Fall early chapters released

On Kubo.com, if you’re interested, you can get an early look at RWBY: After The Fall, the post-Volume 3 story following Team CFVY in Vacuo. It covers CFVY going on a mission and some flashbacks to the Fall of Beacon. Spoilers for the early chapters below:

Velvet and Fox’s weapon names and Semblances are confirmed in the opening chapter- Velvet’s camera is called Anesidora and her Semblance is a photographic memory that lets her remember fighting styles, while Fox’s tonfas are named Sharp Retribution. His Semblance is telepathy and he mostly communicates through it, but he’s expressly said to not be mute (guessing he’ll use his Semblance in a combat fashion to justify that AA ability).

Anesidora means “Sender of gifts” btw.

Fox is a smartass and I already really like him and what seems to be a running joke that he only does things in case he gets extra credit. I get why Miles said a lot of people were gonna love Fox after the book gave him some spotlight.  

Ruby, Weiss and Goodwitch make cameos during the flashbacks.

Fox somehow knows that the Schnee family Semblance lets them summon anything they’ve killed. I’m kinda wondering how unless the other members of the family make no secret about it. 

Coco’s sexuality is made very clear, she is very evidently checking out another Huntress that she meets in the opening chapters. (still fairly bitter that it’s not Yatsu or Fox)

Vacuo is basically a shithole to the point where it advertises how awful it is on tourist trap t-shirts. 

Vacuo lore is pretty nice, good to finally get some lore on this place after years of silence. 

Team CFVY get their own custom Maria in the form of an old sassy lady called Slate. 

CFVY meet two post-grad Huntsmen (the guy continuing Dee and Dudley’s trend of “Every Huntsman in his 20s that the protags meet is a lecherous asshole”) named after Arthurian Legend-  Bertilak Celadon, named after Lord Bertilak the Green Knight from Arthurian myth, and Carmine Esclado, named after Esclados the Red from Arthurian myth. Given how Vacuo holds the Relic of Destruction and it’s said to be a sword, Excalibur in RWBY confirmed! 

Overall the opening chapters are very good. I really enjoyed what was here, the fight with the sand crabs was a neat opening and it seems like Meyers knows what he’s doing. Can’t wait for this to drop, gonna get this as soon as I can.
