Life / Health update!
I had a MRI done on Monday, got the results on Wednesday and uhhh my symptoms are definitely real, pain is definitely justified—
MRI was ordered bc ontop of 9/10 back pain, I've been having urge incontinence, gnarly sciatica pain, and leg weakness so bad I'm struggling to walk, these things concerned the family GP I saw. Was prescribed muscle relaxers (lowest dose possible bc of the EDS), and they help but not enough. I've tried Ibuprofen, Tramadol, even CBD and none of it gives consistent lasting relief. The moment I'm doing anything, despite having taken them, the pain is nagging.
So what's the issue, what's causing my grief? Well, the summary of the MRI stated I have Severe scoliosis change with multilevel spondylosis, contributing to high-grade foraminal stenosis and high-grade spinal canal stenosis, as well as a few bulging discs. And that's just my lumbar-lower thoracic, I have symptoms of cervical stenosis but they aren't nearly as bad or concerning for me atm as my lower back is.
My mom is certain they'll do something for it now that we've got proper diagnosis of what's wrong, and the plan is to send me to Vanderbilt (every doc I've seen in the last three (3) months about it has said to go there bc they don't trust anyone in our area), MRI was also to figure out who they'd send me to there. My mom and sister both agreed that if the doctor overseeing my case (kyphoscoliosis) as a teen had actually done anything to help (won't get into it here, but it's ON SIGHT with that man for me) then I wouldn't be having these problems at 25.
Love that medical negligence in my past has come back to haunt me present day.
#health update#ehlers danlos syndrome#spinal stenosis#spondylosis#kyphoscoliosis#medical negligence#(also may have waited like 2 or 3 weeks before seeing a doc after the urge incontinence and weakness started—)#(–so used to being medically gaslit that I don't know when things are bad enough to warrant care so.. oopsies)

Pinched Nerve in The Spine: Radiculopathy - Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment
The spine consists of several individual bones known as vertebrae. These are interconnected together to form the spine. The spinal cord passes through a central canal in these vertebrae. From the spinal cord, the splitting of nerve roots occurs.
These roots travel between the bones of the spinal and different parts of the body. When the nerve root that leaves the spinal cord to other body parts becomes pinched, irritated, or damaged, it results in a medical condition known as radiculopathy. This condition is also known as a pinched nerve.

Types of Radiculopathy
Depending on where the condition happens in the spine, there are three types of radiculopathy. The symptoms of these types may range from mild to severe in individuals.
Cervical radiculopathy
Occurs due to pressure and compression of the nerve roots in the neck.
This portion of the spinal cord mainly affects the hands, arms, fingers, and shoulders.
Symptoms are usually visible in the hands and arms, which may include weakness or loss of sensation.
Lumbar radiculopathy
Occurs due to pressure and compression of the nerve roots in the lower back.
It may lead to sciatica, a condition that involves radiating pain in the sciatic nerve.
Thoracic radiculopathy
Occurs due to pressure and compression of the nerve roots in the upper back.
Chest pain is common in this condition.
There is a feeling of numbness and pain that moves to the front of the body in patients.
Causes of Radiculopathy and Risk Factors
Here are some of the commonly known causes of radiculopathy and the risk factors associated with it.
Change in size or shift in position of the tissues that surround the nerve root.
Herniated discs, also known as slip discs, are caused by to rupture of soft pads between spinal bones.
Bone spurs, bony outgrowths or projections resulting in constriction of the spinal passage. a condition in which the spaces within the spine get narrow.
Spondylosis is a wear and tear of the spinal disc with age.
Spondylolisthesis is a condition in which a vertebra slips out of its normal position onto the bone below it.
Spinal stenosis, narrowing of the spinal canal in the lower back.
Sciatica is pain travelling along with the sciatic nerve moving to the back of the thigh into the legs.
Thickening of spinal ligaments.
Spinal infections
Regular improper movements
Cancerous or non-cancerous growth in the spine
Radiculopathy Diagnosis
The diagnosis of radiculopathy begins with the patient giving a brief of their medical history to the doctor.
The doctor will ask questions about the type of symptoms, location of the pain, for how long has the pain been there, and also any other medical conditions which the patient is suffering from.
Once the medical history is known, the physician conducts a physical examination and tests.
This is to check the patient's muscular strength, reflexes, sensation, and also the possibility of any abnormalities.
Physical examination allows the medical practitioner to know the severity of the radiculopathy condition.
It also gives an idea about the location of the nerve root that is affected.
In some cases, radiculopathy diagnosis may require the use of advanced imaging techniques such as CT scan or MRI.
These tests aid in improving the visualization of the area where the problem lies.
In some cases, an expert like Dr Khanna orthopedic surgeon may also conduct a study on nerve conduction or Electromyography (EMG).
These tests help to know whether there is damage to the nerve or the problem is muscular.
Symptoms of Radiculopathy
The pinched nerve roots quickly become inflamed, which may result in the following symptoms:
Shooting pain in the back, legs, arms, and shoulders
Feeling of numbness and tingling sensation in the arms and legs.
Localized neck and back pain
Sharp pain when sitting idle or coughing
Sharp pain with movement
Hypersensitivity
Loss of sensation
Radiating pain in the shoulders
Skin numbness
Muscular weakness
Loss of reflexes
Sciatica
Non-surgical treatment for Radiculopathy
Conservative treatment is usually recommended before surgery. Here are some of the non-surgical treatment options for radiculopathy.
Physical therapy to strengthen the areas of pain.
Limitation or complete elimination of activities that cause radiculopathy pain and stains of the back and neck.
Immobilizing the affected area with

Understanding Neck Pain: Causes, Prevention, and Treatment
Neck pain is a common condition that affects people of all ages, often causing discomfort and restricting movement. Whether due to poor posture, muscle strain, or underlying medical conditions, neck pain can interfere with daily activities and overall well-being. Understanding its causes, prevention strategies, and treatment options can help alleviate pain and prevent future issues.
Causes of Neck Pain
Neck pain can result from various factors, including:
1. Poor Posture
Spending long hours hunched over a computer or phone can strain neck muscles.
Slouching while sitting or standing can cause misalignment of the cervical spine.
2. Muscle Strain and Tension
Repetitive movements, such as looking down at a screen, can lead to stiffness and discomfort.
Sleeping in an awkward position can cause muscle tightness and pain.
3. Injuries and Accidents
Whiplash from car accidents or sudden jerking movements can damage muscles and ligaments.
Sports injuries or falls can also lead to neck pain.
4. Degenerative Conditions
Arthritis, cervical spondylosis, and herniated discs can contribute to chronic neck pain.
Osteoporosis can lead to fractures in the cervical spine.
5. Nerve Compression
Herniated discs or bone spurs can put pressure on nerves, causing pain, numbness, or tingling.
Pinched nerves in the neck can radiate pain to the shoulders and arms.
6. Stress and Anxiety
Emotional stress can cause muscle tension in the neck and shoulders, leading to pain.
Prevention of Neck Pain
Many cases of neck pain can be prevented by adopting healthy habits, including:
1. Maintain Good Posture
Keep your head aligned with your spine when sitting or standing.
Use a chair with proper lumbar and neck support.
2. Adjust Screen Position
Position your computer screen at eye level to avoid looking down for long periods.
Hold your phone at eye level rather than bending your neck.
3. Exercise and Stretch Regularly
Perform neck stretches and strengthening exercises to improve flexibility and reduce stiffness.
Engage in low-impact activities like swimming or yoga.
4. Use Proper Sleeping Positions
Sleep on your back or side with a supportive pillow that keeps your neck aligned.
Avoid sleeping on your stomach, as it can strain the neck.
5. Take Breaks and Move
If working at a desk, take breaks to stretch and move every 30–60 minutes.
Avoid holding your neck in the same position for too long.
6. Manage Stress
Practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or massage therapy.
Treatment Options for Neck Pain
Treatment depends on the severity and cause of the pain. Common options include:
1. Home Remedies
Apply heat or ice packs to reduce pain and inflammation.
Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help with mild pain.
2. Physical Therapy
Strengthening exercises and stretches can improve flexibility and support the neck.
A physical therapist can teach proper movement techniques to prevent strain.
3. Medications
Muscle relaxants may be prescribed for severe tension.
Injections, such as corticosteroids, can help with inflammation and nerve pain.
4. Alternative Treatments
Chiropractic care and acupuncture can help relieve neck pain for some individuals.
Massage therapy can reduce muscle tension and improve circulation.
5. Surgery (Last Resort)
In cases of severe nerve compression, herniated discs, or spinal abnormalities, surgery may be considered.
When to See a Doctor
Seek medical attention if:
Neck pain persists for more than a few weeks.
There is numbness, weakness, or tingling in the arms or hands.
Pain is severe or associated with headaches, fever, or unexplained weight loss.
Neck pain follows an injury, such as a car accident or fall.
Recommendation
You can use Neck Cloud™️ - Cervical Traction Device for neck pain.
Conclusion
Neck pain is a common issue, but it can often be prevented and managed with proper posture, regular movement, and healthy lifestyle habits. If the pain persists or worsens, consulting a healthcare professional can help determine the best course of treatment. By taking proactive steps, individuals can reduce discomfort and maintain a healthy, pain-free neck.

Knowledge of Spondylosis and Efficient Pune Treatment Options
Spondylosis is a degenerative spine condition causing chronic back and neck pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. In Pune, specialized care is crucial for effective symptom management. Dr. Mandar Borde, a skilled spine specialist, provides advanced treatment options to help patients regain comfort and mobility.

What is Spondylosis?
Bone growths, decreased disc height, and joint degradation are all symptoms of spondylosis, which is the normal degeneration of the spinal discs, vertebrae, and facet joints. Although it usually happens as people age, things including heredity, bad posture, recurrent spine stress, and previous injuries can hasten its advancement.
Spondylosis can occur in different regions of the spine:
Cervical Spondylosis affects the neck area.
Thoracic Spondylosis impacts the mid-back.
Lumbar Spondylosis is most common, affecting the lower back.
Symptoms of Spondylosis
Symptoms of spondylosis vary depending on the affected area of the spine. Common signs include:
Chronic Pain: Persistent neck or back pain, often described as a dull ache.
Stiffness: Reduced flexibility and range of motion.
Muscle Weakness: Difficulty in performing daily activities.
Nerve Pain: Pain radiating to the arms or legs, numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness if nerve compression occurs.
When symptoms begin to interfere with daily activities, it’s essential to consult a specialist for an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan.
Complete Options for Treating Spondylosis
Dr. Mandar Borde provides a variety of tailored treatment options to help patients manage spondylosis symptoms and restore mobility. Here are some of the approaches used:
1. Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is a cornerstone of spondylosis treatment. Customized exercise programs can help improve flexibility, strengthen the muscles around the spine, and increase range of motion. This can significantly alleviate pain and reduce the risk of further degeneration.
2.Medication Management
To manage pain and inflammation, Dr. Borde may recommend medications, including:
Anti-inflammatory medications to reduce swelling.
Muscle relaxants for spasms.
Pain relievers for acute pain relief.
3.Lifestyle Modifications
Dr. Borde emphasizes the importance of lifestyle changes to prevent spondylosis progression. Ergonomic adjustments, proper posture, regular exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight can make a big difference in reducing stress on the spine.
4.Minimally Invasive Procedures
For cases that do not respond well to conservative treatments, minimally invasive procedures like epidural steroid injections can be used to relieve inflammation and alleviate pain.
5.Surgical Intervention
In advanced spondylosis cases where nerve compression or structural issues become severe, surgical options may be recommended. Dr. Borde’s expertise in minimally invasive spine surgery offers patients the latest techniques for effective relief with shorter recovery times.
Conclusion:
Understanding and addressing spondylosis is essential for effective management of chronic pain and mobility issues. Dr. Mandar Borde provides personalized treatment options in Pune, utilizing advanced techniques to enhance patients’ quality of life. If you or a loved one is affected by spondylosis, reach out to Dr. Borde for expert guidance on your path to improved spinal health. Book your consultation today!

Understanding the Anatomy of the Vertebrae and Discs
The spine, also known as the vertebral column, is a crucial part of our body that provides support, protects the spinal cord, and allows us to move. It’s made up of small bones called vertebrae, stacked on top of each other, with soft discs in between them that act like cushions. Let's break down the basics of these important structures.
The Vertebrae: Building Blocks of the Spine
The vertebrae are the bones that make up your spine. You have 33 vertebrae in total, but they are grouped into sections:
Cervical Spine (Neck Region): The top 7 vertebrae form the cervical spine, which supports your head and allows you to nod and turn.
Thoracic Spine (Upper Back): The next 12 vertebrae form the thoracic spine, which is attached to your ribs, helping to protect your heart and lungs.
Lumbar Spine (Lower Back): The following 5 vertebrae form the lumbar spine, which bears most of your body’s weight.
Sacrum: Below the lumbar spine, 5 vertebrae are fused together to form the sacrum, which connects your spine to your pelvis.
Coccyx (Tailbone): At the very bottom, 4 fused vertebrae form the coccyx, providing a slight level of support when you sit.
Each vertebra has a similar structure. It has a thick front part called the vertebral body that supports weight, and a ring-like structure at the back called the vertebral arch that surrounds and protects the spinal cord. Between these two is the vertebral foramen, a hole through which the spinal cord passes.
The Intervertebral Discs: The Spine's Shock Absorbers
Between each vertebra, there is a soft, jelly-like pad called an intervertebral disc. These discs have two main parts:
Nucleus Pulposus: This is the soft, inner core of the disc. It’s like a gel that helps the disc absorb shocks from activities like walking, running, and lifting.
Annulus Fibrosus: This is the tough, outer layer of the disc that surrounds the nucleus pulposus. It’s made up of several layers of strong fibers that keep the disc in place and provide stability to the spine.
The discs play a vital role in your spine’s health. They not only allow flexibility, enabling you to bend and twist, but they also act as shock absorbers, cushioning your vertebrae as you move. Without these discs, your vertebrae would grind against each other, causing pain and limiting movement.
Common Issues with Vertebrae and Discs
Over time, your vertebrae and discs can wear down or become injured. Some common issues include:
Herniated Disc: This occurs when the soft nucleus pulposus pushes out through a tear in the annulus fibrosus, often pressing on nearby nerves, causing pain or numbness.
Degenerative Disc Disease: As you age, your discs can lose their flexibility and thickness, leading to pain and reduced range of motion.
Spondylosis: This is the general wear and tear of the spine’s discs and joints, often associated with aging.
