I know a lot of people are panicking over this Deadline article from today but remember that this is not new information! The article today says pretty much exactly what this article from April 19 said. The only reason it's being repeated again is that today is the Fox Upfronts and so the question was asked again. It does not concern me in the slightest that the Fox execs gave the same answer as they did 3 weeks ago!
I've also seen people concerned about Lone Star being referred to as a "launchpad" for Fox's new show, but I don't think this is a bad thing at all! First, Fox has been saying this would be the case ever since last November when season 5 was delayed. It was given as the reason behind the delay. But most importantly, this shows that Fox has confidence in Lone Star to bring in viewers!
The unfortunate thing is that this is Lone Star's main value to Fox because of the tricky financial situation. I think that's why they keep focusing on this "launchpad" thing when they talk about the show. Just like with 911, Fox has to pay a licensing fee to air Lone Star, which means that the show is probably not going to turn a profit (through no fault of its own--I'm not sure even the best ratings for season 5 will help this specific situation). But the show still performs very well! That's why it still has value to Fox because it helps bring in viewers for other shows.
The financial situation is a bit concerning, but Fox knew about this situation when it renewed Lone Star for season 5 and it wasn't a dealbreaker then. I don't think cancellation is anywhere close to a sure thing at this point.

The way Twitter gays jumped to hype up John Cena a cishet guy who wore a skirt for a comedy film he stares in and will most likely be the subject of the joke while also hating on and invalidating H whom they believe to be cishet because when he wears more feminine clothes itās āappropriatingā should be studied.
yk i wouldnāt be so apprehensive when a mass of internet gays are shown being supportive of (insert confirmed cishet / presented cishet public male figure wearing or doing something seen as traditionally femme-coded) if this kind of supposed widespread support werenāt actually so rampantly case specific.
(liiiiike besides everything with harry, how people constantly comment on how sam smith shouldnāt be wearing xyz revealing thing because of their body typeāletās give it up for fatphobia on top of the queer judgment woo!)
and iāll fully admit that i have a bit of fucking beef with perpetually online queer peopleālike in the actual sense of the phrase; not people whoāre just socially online a certain amountāespecially the highly vocal variety who seem to see themselves as our esteemed communal speakers when all they do is write shitty hot takes on twitter and comment flood hate messages to other people they deem as not actually valid or for somehow doing queerness āwrongā š¬
like a lot of the people in this especially vocal group who come for harry and other people similar to himāyk, individuals freely and continually expressing themselves without the constraints of gender norms/binaryism limiting themā¦. like how dare they šāactually end up preaching more regressive rhetoric aligned with harmfully close-minded groups they claim to be against simply by trying to step on and police who is and who isnāt allowed to identify a certain way, or who can and canāt wear something, all because of some bullshit reason like their body type, body shape, other things they may wear or have worn, how they identify to the public, etc.
their selective acceptance really is more harmful than it is helpful and when called out, they either donāt give a shit about that at all, or are fully delusional in thinking theyāre truly helping weed out the āfakersā who only use queer culture and aesthetics to come off as āinterestingā or whatever the hell it is they actually believeā¦ idk because i canāt track what it is they wrongly call their ālogicā lmao
specifically in harryās case, because he can never seem to catch a break from even his own fans, i really want to ask these Losers of Gatekeeping: okay, but bitch why ??
like, why (and how) are you so sold on harrās shoddily-crafted cishet playboy narrative when heās consistently contradicted that story for YEARS, that you use it as your primary evidence as to why he supposedly deserves so much harassment from people? or do you instead see him as a willfully closeted artist, and instead use that as cannon fodder for your constant criticisms because people whoāre closeted in any way are just self-hating liars who shouldnāt receive understanding or empathy?
thereās justā¦ so many things i want to ask them that has to do specifically with him (just to start) that come out to: okay, but why?
and regardless of the truth behind the john cena skirt and heels situationāand i shouldnāt be hopeful but i also donāt want to imagine that crossdressing jokes are an actual comedic thing in 2023, so fingers crossed it doesnāt become a jokingly misogynistic kind of bitāit really comes to show how selective acceptance and support seems to come from a rather large section of the online community, specifically the queer online community, and how this selective support and in turn toxic gatekeeping and judgment can so easily make the community a far more unsafe place than it should be.
and unfortunately, while itās bad enough harry is so consistently the easy target for this malicious behavior, he isnāt the only victim of it and it makes me actually fucking fearful what these losers think of more everyday gender-challenging people, because i donāt think their criticisms are at all just contained to people in the public eye š
