New South Wales Christmas Bush (Ceratopetalum gummiferum), sepals turn bright red-pink at around Christmas time. The petals are small and white and COVER the ground during flowering. The sepals enlarge to about 12mm after the flower sets fruit and starts to dry out. That’s when the cockys (white cockatoos and galahs) arrive for a “pruning”session, it’s actually one of their native foods. The plant is native to our coast from Ulladull to Evans Head, it can be grown from cuttings, likes well-drained soil to stop root rot fungus. Because you have sepals that have already started to dry out bits of bush make great cut flowers. #ChristmasBush #NewSouthWalesChristmasBush #CeratopetalumGummiferum #christmas #cockatoo #AustralianNative #bush #waterwise #ChristmasColours #ChristmasColors (at Belmont, New South Wales, Australia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmLhOpVPlxT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
