Etienne 100% believes in fortune-telling. They pretend that they’re just “into it for fun” and that they “would never want to know the future for real” but they always ask fortune-tellers earnest, big questions in their life, and even though in the past they’ve definitely had a fortune they asked about demonstrably not turn out exactly true, they’re the type to do mental gymnastics to say that it did actually fit. They know it is a little immature and embarrassing, especially for someone who is otherwise rather pragmatic and reasonable about things, but they just can’t seem to help but place some faith in it.

A mere shadow. It had a shifting appearance, often humanoid but with added appendages or lack-thereof. The shadow would perch itself in the corners of whatever room she was given to sleep in or if she were outside, it lurked just on the cusp of the fires glow. She could always identify it even in the darkest areas as it twitched and glitched constantly. On one occasion she was given a glimpse of the shadows features, its face riddled in unblinking, colorless eyes. 

Even after the accident and having forgotten a vast portion of her memories, the shadow remained to frighten her well into her teenage years. It wasn’t until her days sailing on open seas that it finally began to lessen in appearance.

👊: Have they ever been involved in a physical fight?

Oooooh man. Well the answer is an easy yes for most of them. 

M’tiqa works as an assassin and while he tries to avoid fights they’re not always... avoidable... and he knows how to handle himself in them pretty well. He also used to get into a lot of fights as a kid because he’s never been good at dealing with his own emotions and at the time it felt like the main outlet for them. 

Sahyo’a has gotten into bar fights with Wood Wailers and Buscarron’s enough times to be banned from the venue. 

Misha avoids fights nowadays, but part of how they’d managed to get a reputation as a ruthless pirate was by being one of the best fighters on the Seas and kind of... leaving a trail of carnage behind them. 

Arsene is my least physical guy and they’re also the one who has been on the losing end of fights the most... they know how to wack people with a staff, but that’s about where it ends. Still, they’ve fought for the Garleans and it has ended in physical altercations.

strength: what is your dream occupation?

A big part of Qorchi still hasn’t gotten over the loss of her eye, and as much as she talks about how she’s been able to move on (specifically from losing the Hotgo in the raid, but also on a broader scale), she still has this notion in her head that somehow, her current state of working and living is a temporary thing. She would love to be able to be as skilled of a bowman as she used to be, hunting from far distances in the wide, open plains of the Steppe, and bragging about her hunts. But it’s just something out of her reach now.

i think. people take shipping a little bit too seriously. romantic shipping doesn’t involve any larger degree of communication than any other RP relationship. you should be letting your regular partners know your intents & wants regardless of whether your characters are romantically/sexually involved.

what is your muse’s love language?

For Defiant... yeah! It’s almost definitely Physical Touch, for her. She tends to be a bit shy about touching other people, even ones she’s close to, so hugging and snuggling is a pretty big deal for her. It’s also something she can express without speaking... pretty good, when she gets timid.

EMOTIONS: Surprised

“Y-you mean to say you did this forrr me?... My condolences! How brrraindead did you have to be?”

M’yhe has a lot of varying ways to show his surprise-- it mostly just depends on the surprise, and how genuine it is and what kind of mood he’s already in. By default, his pupils will usually dilate with interest, and his tail and ears flicker and pique. He’ll tilt his head curiously, and chitter in suspense in huntspeak.

It might take him a few tries to get him on board; mostly if the surprise is you trying to give him something, or you trying to offer something nice to him. Of course he’s excited to have the offer on the table, but he doesn’t like dipping his hand into another’s honey. Even if being offered.

If the surprise is a bad one? Usually there’s a lot of spitting and hissing involved, tears and and drawn claws, lips curled and pulled over fangs. Lots of insults hurled, and a tail poofed out in full and lashing wildly. He’s not afraid to throw a few punches, or claw a motherfucker-- or withdraw to find the solace of someone else that he can trust with his woes.

What do they lead with when they’re asked “tell me about yourself?”

Thank you for sending me one It’s usually “I’m a voidsent hunter.” He doesn’t tend to explain much more than that, because he dislikes talking about himself outside of a professional context. If people need to hire him that’s his priority. He has a hard time relating to people as friends because his professional life kind of consumes him. x.x

Sarangerel & Nandin Shulam

Nandin was Sarangerel’s teacher when she was young. Sarangerel had the fundamental knowledge of counting, where the sun rose, which was East, West, South, North... But Nandin would take time to instill greater knowledge in the girl she perhaps felt sorry for but would grow to love like a sister. Due to Nandin’s teachings, Sarangerel has the basic ability to fix herself up if injured in the field. 

Which leads into... The Take-Care-of-Me kit. Sarangerel would be missing from Shulam camp for days, sometimes a week, at a time to hunt and attempt to prove herself. Nandin, logically, would worry about the small, frail girl. As such, one day, she created a small package of medical supplies and dried foods for Sarangerel to carry with her, that she would replenish when the girl returned to camp. Sarangerel came to call it the Take-Care-of-Me kit in her mind. She accidentally voiced it one day to Nandin and was horribly embarrassed. 

Sarangerel would lead Nandin to peaceful places in the woods. When the tribe still believed Nandin to be the chosen of Tsenkher, Sarangerel could almost feel the waves of tension coming off of Nandin at some points. The role of a spiritual figure was, undoubtedly, puzzling and troubling for a young woman. Come nights of fuller moons, Sarangerel would quietly take Nandin by the hand and take her to clearings up in mountain copses where they could simply be quiet together, and find peace in the night.

Sarangerel hired five different spies to discover Nandin’s whereabouts. As a successful adventurer and headhunter before joining Arcane Circle, Sarangerel possessed a great amount of gil, to which she only dedicated to feeding herself, repairing her gear, and finding her heartsister. The only spy that continued to take her seriously -- out of fondness for the child, as though she were his own granddaughter -- was an aged Duskwight named Mallaire. He is the only spy -- now retainer -- that is still in her employ. The others were immediately discharged the instant Nandin was found.

Nandin wants Sarangerel to like Iro and T’odd, but knows she can’t change her heartsister’s opinion. Sarangerel’s unabashed hatred of the two important men in Nandin’s life undoubtedly is stressful for her. However, the stubborn girl’s heart likely cannot be budged. 

Iro Kazanagi & Nandin Shulam

Iro often feels like he’s walking on eggshells around Nandin. This is, however, not because he’s afraid of her or scared of her; no, he simply desires deeply to impress her, and feels slightly inadequate in comparison to all the people of culture that his girlfriend knows.

After their first date on the Salt Strand, Iro is always keeping his eye out for someplace new and beautiful to take her. Even though he is aware Nandin can’t see very well, something inside him tells him that she would appreciate the chance to be taken somewhere beyond where she normally does business. Perhaps he has an inkling that the woman is aethersensitive; or perhaps he just has a sentimental heart. 

Nandin has been given three gifts from Iro thus far: dried orange roses from the first night he had performed and met her; a small scroll inside a tiny glass bottle, on which is written the Hingan script for “my moonbeam”; and a book that neither of them can read, simply because it is composed of raised bumps and brief Hingan translations of what the bumps mean. Lord Kazanagi is responsible for the last gift. 

If the two attend musical events at bars or anything similar, it is not long before they take to the dancefloor. Iro’s love for movement and Nandin’s adoration for dancing make them a well-matched pair. The two simply twirl the night away and are often taken aback when they’re gently informed that the bar has since closed and the staff would like to go home.

Iro is secretly self-conscious that Nandin would not like him as much if she could see him more clearly. Between his mismatched fangs, scarred scales, broken knuckles, and damaged horns, he frets often about his own appearance, fearing himself to appear too scary to be the sort of man he is. However, when Nandin takes his hand and gives him the soft smile she is oh so capable of... Those fears melt away.

their tribe’s festival to menphina, which takes place on the winter solstice since it’s the longest night out of the year. they give offerings of food and skins to menphina, dance a lot, play some good music, lots of canoodling, flower garlands, the whole shebang. it’s good fun, even if voj’a was so drunk during the last festival that they barely remember it.
