Iberdrola has closed a first purchase of basic medical supplies in China, valued at 22.1 million euros, which is expected to arrive in Spain in the first fortnight of April. The company has acquired 450 breathing apparatus, 4.6 million masks, 120,000 protective divers and 20,000 protective goggles with the signing of four major contracts with Chinese companies, the company reported in a statement Monday. In this way, Iberdrola ensures that its global access capacity to supplies is available to the Administration to face the coronavirus pandemic.

The first signed contract has been managed through the Spanish company Amara and includes the purchase of 400 state-of-the-art breathing equipment for 11.6 million euros, which will be delivered to the Ministry of Health for subsequent distribution. Through the second agreement, 2.5 million masks have been acquired, the destination of which will be the Ministries of Health and the Interior (1.5 million), as well as the Army (one million), which will be in charge of bringing them with their own transport and that Later it will distribute them among the various logistics centers it has in Spain. With a total cost of 5.3 million euros, this contract has been processed by the Spanish provider Wottoline.

The third batch of material, which has had the intermediation of the Spanish company Iturri, includes two million disposable masks and 100,000 disposable protection divers certified under Directive 89/686 / ECC. Iberdrola has acquired this material, for a total amount of two million euros, which will go to the Ministries of Health and the Interior, with the intermediation of one of its regular suppliers of PPE and workwear.

The company has reported that it will donate 50 ORICARE V8800 intensive care respirators; 50,000 FFP2 masks (KN95) and another 50,000 FFP3 masks. It will also donate 20,000 units of anti-splash personal protection divers and 20,000 protective goggles. This set, valued at 3.1 million euros, has been ordered through the Spanish Viral Health and will go to the Community of Madrid.

Finally, the company has bought another batch of material (valued at 100,000 euros) with the support of several suppliers: Iturri, El Corte Inglés, Guerín-Sonepar, Centralcom, Central del Regalo and Ceminorte. The lot is made up of nitrile gloves, disposable divers, FFP2 / KN95 masks, goggles, semi-masks, hydro-alcoholic gel, gowns and sleeves and will go to the Basque Country.

The company is closing additional agreements with other providers of medical devices with the aim of closing, in the coming days, more purchases of the equipment that Spain needs to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. These measures are in addition to the support plan announced weeks ago that the company has launched for its clients throughout Spain and to which, on Monday, a free electrical emergency service has been added for its two million clients over 65 years of age. .

As reported by Iberdrola, with this initiative, this group will have an emergency service covered during the entire period of the alarm that will solve any problem related to the lack of electricity supply in the home, covering both the technician's travel costs , like labor.
