I typed out a whole ask about how I thought maybe, in less of a kin assignment way and more of a "this is a character you might have had thoughts on, once" way, Sonohara Anri would have gotten to you. Unfortunately Anri's wiki page is quite lacking and I'm not very good at talking about things I like, but it gives you just enough of an idea... then I looked to the right of her wiki page and realized I could totally kin assign you Celty. But maybe that's just because the general consensus on Celty is "woah. So fucking cool" and I also think you're woah. So fucking cool. ^_^

i wanna rewatch drrr so bad now grrrr. yeah these two were my favorites when i watched it w my grandpa when i was really young!!! i was really surprised how on the nose you got here 😭 i was literally thinking how much i loved celty as a kid yesterday w my friends… i remember loving anri a lot and having thoughts but again i was young and i would need to think. but yeah you get me GIGGLES.

Shinra understands me so well. Or, maybe I should say: Ryohgo Narita has created a character that displays some of my most difficult to explain/come across traits in a way that isn't too hard to swallow (in my opinion anyway; lots of people aren't a fan.)

The disconnect from the people around me in favor of my partner isn't something most people really... Get. And a lot of times, people think I'm exaggerating when I say certain things, or do certain acts. Everyone says "I would do anything for you." That's normal. But, it's also normal to have a small clause tacked on that says Well obviously not everything. There are some things you cannot reasonably expect from a partner, and that's perfectly good and normal. It should be that way, I think, in most cases.

I do not have that meter. My way of loving is sheer, blind devotion. 24/7. Everything I do, I do completely for her. Without question. Specifically for this topic, I'm nice with her friends because that's what makes her happy. I play games with them and talk with them and share things about myself because she wants me to be a part of her social life. She wants people to meet me (because she loves me so much!) and I want to give her what she wants. She's the only thing ever on my mind. Day in, day out, with no breaks. I like it that way.

It took a while and some context for the people around me to finally go "Ah. This makes sense now." I'm not John Mulaney out here. It isn't performative, it's just how I'm wired, but it's at such a level that people maybe don't... Believe me? At first? I'm not sure.

I'm not actively malicious, I just don't really make friends, because I'd rather be with her. The people around me are just soundboards that I can talk to about my partner (and luckily, she is so liked by so many that this often works great for me). I do like to talk! I like to interact with people, sort of, if it means I get to express what's on my mind (SOMETIMES it isn't Celty. Sometimes). I don't hate her friends. I know them all pretty well, but that doesn't mean anything to me. If they all completely disappeared, I'd only be upset because Celty would be upset.

I come off as kind of intense because of it. I don't mean to, not really. It's so normal to me that I don't even really think about it. The term aplatonic has been really helpful, I guess. Just... The way it's been displayed in Shinra is really, really... Good? I guess? It gives me something to point at to help explain that No, it's not really that I don't like you, my mind is just preoccupied and I am not going to go about unoccupying it for you.

Wow! Jeez! Anyway! Shinra is really important to my identity. He's my favorite of my kins, and I find a lot of comfort in him. ^^ I appreciate how he's written. A part of me feels very, very seen with him. Sorry for the brain dump everyone!

Ok so: big drrr pathologic au rant below. Picture @menkhumemes and me at 3AM as that Pepe Silvia meme from It's Always Sunny as we tried hard to come up with comparisons between the characters' themes and role in both plots

We thought Clara would fit the Orihara twins! Clara's path is,, a lot, but the twins fit Clara well? I don't know if Plague Clara would be either Mairu or Kururi, but I like the idea of them being very critical of Izaya's and Shizuo's ways of dealing with things. Working for their own agenda, trying to become a Mistress, influencing Akane-Murky. They look so very similar when Shizuo and Izaya meet them, but with time they get better at knowing which one they're actually talking to.

Stakh could be Shinra! But I found I like Stakh as Kasuka better. He's the one who stayed when Shizuo went away and grew up to be a doctor. He's grown distant and Shizuo can't read him anymore and it PAINS him, but Shizuo would still kill for him. I like Shinra as Eva, who lives at the Stillwater, where Izaya has his base of operation, and where Shizuo crashes. But Eva's themes don't fit Shinra much. He's definitely part of the Utopians, probably a Kain too. He left the Kain house because there's SHINGEN there.

Celty is Lara (Celty calling Shizuo 'Cub'??? imma cry), and I like Grief as Kadota?

Kida is Notkin, he's the one with his little gang of souls and a halves, he's very bitchy toward Izaya but befriends Shizuo. Khan is DEFINITELY Mikado. Anri is Capella (see: Saika's power to influence others into doing things and her dating Mikado because she feels like she has to more than because she actually wants to)

For the ruling families & factions, the Kains would be Yagiri members, the Olgimskys and the Saburovs would be Awakusu-kai ? We didn't know about the Kin either!! I'll happily hear what y'all think about this!
