“it’s not about canon fucking capital!” nandor spits in the air between them. guillermos jaw drops a bit, and it all starts to feel like a bit of a sick joke to nandor. its never easy, not with guillermo.

he shifts and narrows his eyes. “being a janitor had its good moments,” nandor admits. “i liked being the barrier between the cleanliness of productivity and the filth of failure. also those paper towels were very powerful, they didnt even leave any streakies!

“but…” nandor lets his shoulders drop and he suddenly cant look at guillermo. “being around humans all day is kind of shitty.”

guillermo huffs. “trust me, hanging around vampires all the time isnt all its cracked up to be either. ya know, i spent so many years cleaning up shit and say what you will about panera but atleast cleaning toilets there got me a free pastry-“

“why do you always leave me?”

it shocks them both into silence. guillermos jaw clicks shut while nandor hunches his shoulders, as though he could curl away from his own confession. he was literally commanding an army, but here was where words failed him.

guillermo swallows. “leave you? im right here.”

“no you are not,” nandor hisses. “you are with celeste and then you are with derrick and then it is freddie and laszlo and now you are with jordan.” he steps forward, which makes guilermo step back. conquering lands, even here and now.

“why must you always leave? why do you want to leave, and why do i want you to stay? it was not like this with other familiars, ill have you know!”

nandor thinks about all the snide comments made by laszlo and nadja over the years. their familiars were always easy come, easy go. but guillermo was always there. he would misplace an ugly sock or leave his toothbrush in the open.

guillermo has always been different. guillermo has always been the exception.

it makes all the leaving he does very painful. nandor doesnt know why.

“other familiars don’t pledge almost half their lives to one master,�� guillermo counters. “other familiars wouldve left a long fucking time ago.”

it takes everything in nandor not to shudder at being referred to as master by guillermo. “i dont give a shit about other familiars. not even my own old familiars. they were just… blips in the radar.”

“and me?” guillermo whispers, finally reclaiming the ground covered by nandor and placing them almost chest to chest. “fifteen years for a vampire doesnt seem like much of anything.”

“you were my purpose, guillermo,” he says. “to make you into a fucking cool vampire. and then you decided it wasnt actually what you wanted and after that annoying ceremony that i put a lot of hard work into, you wanted to leave again. so now i have no familiar, no purpose because you are not a vampire. i have nothing.”

guillermo stays quiet for many seconds and nandor can see his eyebrows twitching in thought. it had been so long since nandor has stood this close to guillermo so if nothing else, the proximity was a nice touch

“my purpose was to be turned into a vampire, by you,” guillermo says. “and then i realized it would never happen unless i did something, so i did. but it doesnt change the fact that i spent so many years knowing that i…” he swallows and to nandors delight, his cheeks turn crimson under shitty lighting. “i was meant to be yours, turned by you.”

“you are driving me crazy,” nandor says quietly. “i do not know why you keep leaving me and why i care so much. you really hurt me, you know! every time you leave it hurts!”

“i know why i keep leaving,” guillermo says. “and i think i know why you want me to stay so bad. the reasons are pretty similar, if i had to guess.”

“tell me,” nandor growls, his hands coming up to grip guillermos biceps so that he cannot flee, not again. “tell me.”

with the same drive behind the words that would compel weaker men, guillermo looks up at him, and before nandor can even think about speaking again, guillermo surges up and crashes their lips together with his hands tangled in nandors hair and knocking the head piece off in the process.

before it can even begin, guillermo pulls away. he is panting and then pulling a vibrating telephone out of his pocket. nandor watches with blazing eyes

“its jordan…” he trails off, looking thoughtful while nandor feels murderous.

a small smile creeps onto his face as the still vibrating phone goes back into his pocket. “but I’ve got better things to do.”

guillermo smiles at nandor and for once, he looks settled, not ready to bolt. nandor knows the same expression is reflecting on his face as well.

as he makes his move towards a willing guillermo, he hopes the camera crew is more engrossed with whatever antics nadja and laszlo and colin robinson have gotten into.

Sweet Dreams ~Chapter 1~

summary: Celeste and Ford settle into their cozy Gravity Falls home.

Moving in was a struggle. Not only did my parents think I was making a huge mistake, but I realized that keeping focused in the lab while your partner is irresistible is frustrating. Ford will just be writing something in his journal or doing experiments, and I won’t be able to keep my eyes off of him. 

It hasn’t been very long since we have moved in together, just a few weeks, yet there are so many things we have discovered here. Our first day here, we discovered these things we call "eye-bats." They’re exactly what you think they are. Eyeballs flying around with bat wings. I was terrified when I first saw them. Now that I think about it, I think that’s when I starting growing a fondness for the scientist that I’m living with. Not to say I wasn’t fond of him before. 

Going to university with him was fun, but I didn’t see him all the time. I had little flings off and on. Not with him. He was always reserved and standoffish. I could tell he had a lot on his mind, constantly. When he presented me with the idea of researching with him AND he bargained with the “grant money people,” as he called it, just so I could move in with him, I was ecstatic. 

“Celeste, are you doing alright?” 

Ugh. I can’t help my heart racing when I hear his voice. I don’t know what’s come over me. I have known him for years. There is no reason for me to be feeling this way. It’s really not reasonable. I take a deep breath and hope that he cannot see the crimson on my face.

“Yes, why wouldn’t I be?”

“You’ve been staring off into space for the last 10 minutes.” His eyes narrowed, focusing on my face, making sure I was “all there.”

Oh. Yikes. Okay. I hear him clear his throat, signaling him wanting to talk again. He comes closer to me, and I can feel the heat radiating off of me as he gets closer. 

“Sorry if this is off topic and unnecessary, but,” he pauses, “would you want to go out to a diner with me tonight?”

I give him a confused look, “What for? We have food here. And don’t we need to-” I was cut off by him pressing his lips to mine. I pull away, breathless and heart racing. 

“I was trying to ask you out, Celeste.” Ford rubs his thumb against my cheek, his face close to mine. I stand up so he doesn’t have to bend down to my level. Well, I am quite a bit shorter than him anyway, so I guess it doesn’t make too much of a difference. I think he can see that I was too stunned to speak. Ford furrows his brows, “Was—was that okay? I’m sorry. I should have asked if I could do that.” 

I smile at him and kiss him again. He tastes of morning coffee. His left hand finds its way to the small of my back. Ford pulls me closer toward him and I can feel his heart racing as well as mine. We move like we were meant for each other. Like nothing could stop us from being together. It was me and him against the world. 

We pull away and I look at him with love in my eyes. “You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to do that.” 

He chuckles and replies, “Does that mean we are on for dinner tonight?”

“Absolutely, I apologize for not agreeing at first; I just didn’t want to disappoint you.” 

“You could never disappoint me.” 

We decided on the diner that was closest to us. It was “Greasy’s Diner,” and it seemed to be only breakfast food. Delicious. I ended up on waffles with strawberries, and Ford got an omelette. It was quiet at this time in the evening. To be fair, it is a small town. There was an ambience that was unmatched in here. Maybe it was just because I was with someone I really liked. I dunno. 

We get back home, and as soon as we close the door, Ford doesn’t hesitate to press me against the door and kiss me. I am filled with bliss and affection as we begin to get more frisky. Hands touching all over. I reach for the hem of his shirt and tug at it; he seems to get the signal, and he takes it off, revealing a slightly muscular man. It was a lovely sight. I ran my hands along his barren chest, taking it all in. I could feel the tips of my ears burning as I saw him smile and kiss my forehead. 

“Stardust, I don’t want to get too... risky tonight if that’s alright with you,” Ford rubs the back of his neck, visibly nervous. Stardust. I feel a chill run up my spine when he calls me that. I hope that becomes a regular thing. Stardust. Just hearing his voice say that over and over in my head makes my heart palpatate. This makes me wonder how long he had been thinking up nicknames for me.

“Hm? Oh, yeah, no, that’s no big deal, love.” I smile, pat his barren chest and walk over to the couch. “Want to at least cuddle and watch some shitty TV?” 

“Of course, darling.”

I open my eyes, suddenly feeling a chill. Not a good one. I am in a dark space; I can’t tell where anything is or where I am. All I know is that there is a frigid breeze. Immediately I feel a sudden rush of panic as I hear this maniacal laughter. It’s taunting and haunting. Yet this all sounds familiar. I hear a cryptid voice in a language that I couldn’t understand.

Then it was gone. 

I was falling.

I wake up, panting and in a cold sweat. I look around the room. Room… I’m not in my room; my heart rate is increasing. I can feel my blood pulsing through my veins. 

Where am I? What is going on? 

Is all that is coursing through my head until I look to the left. There was a man sleeping next to me. 

A man? Man… 

Ford.

I must be okay. I’ll be fine. 

I lay back down for bed as I felt him turn over to me. I froze, worried I had just woken him up. Ford puts an arm around me and snuggles into my neck, getting comfortable. As I relax, understanding he just wanted to get comfortable as well, I hear him whisper to me. I feel I am starting to crash again. 

“You’ll be okay, stardust.” 

Stardust…

What about normal Makoto in a room full of his kamakurized friends? 👀

Lol, immediately this brought to mind a kind of inversion of the Undead AU, where the lucksters instead have to take care of super genius versions of their classmates.

But let's put that aside for now.

(I'm making this one a new AU, so the Kamukura 78th class get the same characterization as before, but the backstories from the Kamukuras AU are changed so that instead they were just all entered into the Kamukura Project at the same time. Presumably Izuru Kamukura still exists as the first success and they took that success as a green light to do the same thing with fifteen more kids. None of them have met Izuru, though; he's in the basement of Hope's Peak, and they're at some secondary location where the many people who would be looking for them can't find them.)

So, the scientists Kamukurify the whole 78th class, except Makoto. (Presumably they tricked them into signing off on it, but since some of them are definitely the type to thoroughly read a contract, I'm thinking it was just casually tossed in as a condition to attending.) This does raise the question of "When did they go through with the procedure, and where was Makoto while it was happening?" I'm going to say it happened over some kind of holiday or break, so when Makoto gets pulled in, he has no idea of how serious the danger is until after he's tossed into a room with all of them.

But yeah, the scientists just toss Makoto into a room with the Kamukuras and lock the door.

All of the Kamukuras would immediately reach the conclusion, "The scientists have given us a human plaything, and we're expected to share it, and I know someone is going to break it."

So everyone has one of four reactions:

Someone's going to break him, so it might as well be me.

Someone's going to break him unless I protect him, so I will.

Someone's going to break him, so no point taking an interest.

Someone's going to break him, so I'd better do something interesting with him before they do.

And because they're all Ultimate Analysts, they all know the exact mental journeys the others are on. The best of them are able to circumvent the worst possible outcome (which is, him dying immediately and no one gets to do anything with him and they don't get another one).

As soon as Makoto (again, super not knowing what he's in for) walks into the room, Sakura restrains Junko just to make sure she doesn't do anything to sabotage this chance at stimulation for the rest of them.

Hina runs up to Makoto like, "Interesting. They've never given us something like this before."

("The likeness is incredible," Chihiro's voice floats from somewhere near Hifumi, because Hifumi drew Makoto's face the previous day. "Your clairvoyance has improved, since you spoke with Hagakure." For his part, Hiro is just standing in the corner, looking like he's seen all of this before and doesn't mind an encore.)

"Hina?" Makoto looks around at all of them, confused. They all have shoulder-length hair, uncombed. It's a weird look, especially for those of them who used to have really long or really short hair. (Their hair hasn't grown Kamukura-length yet, since it was shaved for the procedure.) Their eyes are all bright red. "You look...different. Why are you talking like that?"

"He knows us," Celeste observes, having immediately decided to earn his loyalty on the assumption that he can be useful in getting her out. She keeps her hair tidier than any of the others, but Makoto is more focused on how even her eyes are different. They were already red, but before it was a simmering scarlet, like red wine, not a glaring crimson. "Poor thing; you must be so confused."

"Celeste?"

She's unfamiliar with that name, because it isn't the one on record for this body, but she takes it in stride because she doesn't care what he means by it. "Yes? How may I help you?"

"Why did you call her Celeste?" Hina asks.

"You guys- Whoa!" Makoto yelps in fright, as he is lifted off of his feet.

Mondo holds Makoto over his head, like keeping a toy out of reach of children. It's not beyond any of them, physically, to access Makoto anyway, but the idea is that getting to him now would require them to cross a line that would lead to a skirmish, so they won't.

"We should negotiate the use of this resource," Mukuro says.

"He is not a resource for our use," Taka says. "He is a human as humans were meant to be. He shouldn't be touched."

"Guys?!" Makoto calls from his weird position, being held in the air by his shirt and pant leg. "Is everyone okay? You're all being really weird."

"Slow on the uptake," Leon drones. "Might as well let Enoshima cut him open."

"You insult my imagination," Junko replies, casually, from her restrained position.

They're talking like they don't know me, Makoto thinks. And...a little like they don't know each other. At least, not the way they did before. "What happened to you? Did you guys get amnesia or something?"

"Owada, could you put him in the other room while we negotiate?" Sayaka suggests. She has already taken those few seconds to imagine a few outcomes in which everyone would be satisfied. It's the kind of thing she really enjoys doing.

They lock Makoto in an adjacent room and very clinically discuss the best ways to avoid killing him. Or at least to avoid killing him too quickly.

Meanwhile, Makoto is adjusting to all this information he just gathered from that short interaction and preparing for how he's going to interact with them, moving forward.
