All the characters I’ve drawn (so far) from Jay Kristoff’s series Empire of the Vampire. Love, love, love this story and these characters.

SPOILERS AHEAD FROM EMPIRE OF THE DAMNED
I finish the second book of Empire of the Damned, already wanting to write a big text, and one of them is a question, after all, why did Celene Castia hide so much about Dior from Gabriel, and the two had a common goal, which was to keep her saved? And eliminate the shadow of the end of days? Which makes me think in the last few pages that her goal seems to be more than that.
The hatred she had for Gabriel and the resentment that he hadn't answered her letters meant that the ending was like that.
Of course, I'm not ignoring Gabriel's flirting, but if she communicated, many things would be avoided.
About Jean Francois, my god he was perfect, I felt the sexual tension between him and Gabriel in each chapter, I'm feeling that something will happen in the third book.
In this one, the complexity of the characters seemed to be at its peak, the surprises are not even mentioned, the brutality of the scenes, remains, if not greater than before.
In my opinion, the book maintained the narrative of the first one and I'm looking forward to the next one.
Bon Orthwick's illustrations did not disappoint

“It's in silence we know ourselves, vampire. It's in stillness we hear the questions that truly matter, scratching like baby birds on the eggshells of our eyes. Who am I? What do I want? What have I become? Truth is, the questions you hear in the quiet are always the most terrifying, because most people never take the time to listen to the answers. They dance. And they sing. And they fight. And they fuck. And they drown, filling their gullets with piss and their lungs with smoke and their heads with shit so they never have to learn the truth of who the fuck they are. Put a man in a room for a hundred years with a thousand books, and he’ll know a million truths. Put him in a room for a year with silence, and he’ll know himself.”
