Happy Monday Southernistas! I am still full from the sermons my pastor preached on Saturday - Don't Stop Believing and Sunday - My Enemy Has Been Disarmed. Wow!!! On Friday I was reading an article on @thecurvyfashionista blog declaring it is summer which means it's maxi dress season and I am always here for a maxi dress. I agree with @mariedenee that these dresses are so versatile. They are appropriate for any occasion from cookouts to weddings you can't go wrong with a maxi. Now for my fellow short Southernistas maxis can be a pain I know. I am 5"3 and it can be trying tripping over the hem of your maxi dress or skirt and it can get expensive taking it to the tailor to be shortened. But you can tie a knot to lift the hem. I like to wear heels to lift the hem but thats not always a solution but now there is hope. You can find some petite size maxis @lanebryant which is where I got this dress from. Also @lanebryant maxis that done come in petite are usually short girl friendly. Now @byashleystewart offers some of their maxis in tall and petite so there are options now! Just know the petite sizes tend to sellout pretty quickly. I hope other brands start to offer these options too and not just a few but across the board. If you're still on the fence about maxi consider a midi dress I have quite a few "maxi" dresses that are actually midi dresses. I’ve been feeling disheartened lately when it comes to Instagram. I hate to compare myself to others, but it’s impossible not to see these other accounts growing and wonder why mine feels so stagnant. It’s impossible not to look at someone’s account and think, “why do they have this many followers and I don’t? What am I doing wrong?” And I know that growth is not the goal. But I want to help as many people as possible, and that means reaching as many people as possible. But then I step back and remind myself that we all have different paths. Those people whose accounts I’m looking at have worked their asses off too. Maybe they’re doing more than I am behind the scenes. Or maybe they just got lucky. It’s impossible to know. What I do know is that, at the end of the day, whether I help 5 people or 5000 people, I’m making a difference.
