...
“Where’s my brother?” Winnie asked, scanning the nearly vacant Slytherin common room. Next to her, a girl with curly brown hair stood.
“What the bloody hell are you wearing?” Brian sputtered, his maw open and bushy eyebrows bunched together. He looked her up and down, his confused expression apparent on his features.
Winnie tilted her head in visible puzzlement, “It’s a party. Aren’t we supposed to be dressed up to look pretty and stand out?” She looked down at her outfit, “I don’t see what’s wrong with what I’m wearing.” You smiled at her ignorance.
The girl next to her widened her eyes and looked away. Her shoulders shook, attempting to hold back her laughter. Next to you, leaning to the side, one hand on his hip, Brian’s face was contorted into a dumbfounded expression.
You observed Winnie’s odd outfit choice. She wore short overalls with a primarily pastel chequered palette and a small daisy on the front pocket in the middle of her chest. Underneath, you saw a white, overlarge sweater. You thought it was a bit simple for her until you noticed the sleeves looked dipped in colourful paint, peeling off in several areas. It was no doubt Winnie's creative idea. Her socks were also white but had pastel polka dots, and her shoes were black ballerina flats. For a Pureblood, she sure loved Muggle-wear.
You glanced at her face and noted that it was the only area on her body that wasn’t doused with colour. Her frizzy hair was tied up in a low ponytail, a few strands escaping from the coiffure.
You decided to jump into the conversation. “Yes, Winnie, but your outfit is rather,” you paused, searching for the right word, “visible.”
“What’s wrong with visible?” She furrowed her brows.
Before you could respond, Brian stepped in, cutting you off, “Well, we are sneaking around, and if we get caught, it’ll be a problem. We need something more discreet and everyday-wear.”
“But you and (Name) are also wearing nice clothes.” Winnie gestured to your primarily brown outfits.
“Winnie,” you tried reasoning with her, “Brian and I are wearing really dark and simple clothes. It’ll be more difficult to recognise us from a distance since many guys dress similarly, while your outfit is really bright and recognisable.”
She looked down, disappointment etched on her features as realisation dawned on her, “Oh okay…” she mumbled.
The girl next to her caressed her shoulder reassuringly. It was funny because she was at least 180, while Winnie was over a head shorter. That’s when it finally clicked for you.
“Hey, I know you,” the girl looked up at the sound of your voice, “You’re Winnie and Elsie’s roommate, aren’t you? Mary, right? I’m not the best at names.” You smiled at her, and she nodded, a silent gesture of affirmation.
“Anyway,” Brian said, “Is Elsie coming, or did she decide to skip?”
Winnie looked up again, “Oh, Ramona and Avery are helping her get ready. Where’s my brother? Is he already gone?”
You nodded, “Yes, he wanted to meet Destiny beforehand.”
You didn’t ask about why Elsie was spending extra time trying to seem appealing since you remembered the way she looked at Alistair and how he would often be the topic of conversation whenever he wasn’t there, whether she was complimenting his flying skills or insulting his girlfriend.
Brian was also aware, so he kept his mouth shut.
Winnie clapped her hands together and put them to her cheek in a sweet, motherly way as one would when cooing at a romantic couple or cute puppy, “Ohh! I’m glad everything is going well between them.”
You were never sure whether or not Winnie liked Destiny, but she seemed genuinely happy for her brother despite his girlfriend’s imperfections. It was one of her aspects you liked. She was determined to help everyone, so it surprised you that she wasn’t a Gryffindor or Hufflepuff.
“Where’s Campbell?” You heard Elsie’s voice coming from near the top of the stairs of the girl’s dormitory.
Winnie raised her hand and looked up, “I’m here.”
“No, the other Campbell. I never call you by your last name, Winnie, and if I did, you’d be Campbell NumberTwo.” Elsie stepped down from the dormitory. Two girls looking rather proud of themselves followed suit.
Elsie wore a red chequered skirt with a matching cropped blazer over a black corset top you recognised from a muggle shop near your house. Her short hair was tucked behind her ears with pins and hair clips.
Winnie squeaked joyfully and wrapped her arms around Elsie, then pulled away and bounced up and down. Sometimes, since she was so enthusiastic, you weren’t sure whether Winnie knew about her best friend’s crush on her brother, considering that was the reason Elsie dressed up in the first place.
“You look lovely,” you smiled reassuringly, and Elsie shrugged, looking away and playing with her sleeves. You rarely saw her this reserved since the first time you met her, and most of her other friends never got to see that vulnerable side of her.
Mary signed something to one of the girls who helped Elsie get ready, and she checked the time with a pocket watch.
“It’s 11: 15, peeps. If we hurry now, we’ll be at the Gryffindor common room by 30.”
The entire group nodded in acquiescence.
As you shuffled towards the door, you removed your penny brown sweater and handed it to Winnie, “Here, you need it more than I.”
“Aww! Thank you, (Name)!” She slipped it over her head and pulled it down, wrapping her arms around herself, petting the wool. She swayed from side to side as she trotted behind the others. You stifled a chuckle at how much larger it was than her, walking behind the other.
“11: 30,” whispered the girl with the pocket watch — whose name you found out was Ramona Armstrong, the sister of one of your roommates —, brushing her spiky red hair out of her eyes, “They’ll be here to check the door in a couple second, I reckon.”
The Fat Lady looked at your group, “You know, most of the students are already here.”
Winnie tilted her head, “But can’t we go to parties at any time after?”
The Fat Lady gave her a look that suggested that Winnie’s reply wasn’t one she particularly liked, “Well, apparently.” She sniffed.
The door slowly creaked open, and a head of red hair popped out from behind the painting. He grinned at your group, “Well, look what we have here.” Fred Weasly grinned, analysing your group, “You all 16?”
“Yup.” Elsie spoke for your group, disinterestedly checking her nails.
Fred hummed, “We’re gonna need a password anyways.”
“What?! But there was nothing about the password in the invitation!” Ramona and Mary’s friend babbled to your left, unmistakably irritated. From the corner of your eye, you saw Brian tilting her head. When you looked to your right, he and Winnie were frowning in perplexity.
“Goodness, I’ve never met 6th years so dense,” the Fat Lady groaned from another painting, fanning herself, “He’s obviously playing with you, now please go inside so I can sleep!”
You sighed. Of course, there was no password. Fred just found it funny to mess with a bunch of Slytherins, many of whom were deemed intelligent by their report cards. Fred snickered. If George was somewhere behind him, you couldn’t hear laughing.
Fred made a gesture with his head to follow him, and your party silently slipped into the dark Gryffindor common room. Sure, the walls were soundproof in every bedroom, but you glided soundlessly just in case.
“Once the passageway opens, you gotta all run, got it?” the redhead whispered, not looking for any affirmation from you.
He pressed a brick in the fireplace, then lightly tapped two others.
The wall slid to the side to reveal the interior of a room, and the loud chatter of 6 year students made you realise why everyone had to enter quickly. Fred was the first to slip in, and you went last. When you entered, the wall slid back into place.
Around you was a grand area a bit smaller than the common room, crowded with students your age or older drinking, playing games, or chatting. A hallway was across you, a badly drawn toilet sign hanging from a nail in the wall. While you were a bit annoyed at how dim the pink light was, you had to admit that the teachers would find it difficult to perceive it from the courtyard.
You felt a hand grab your hand.
You looked down to see Winnie. Next to her, her arm interlocked with Brian’s since they were closer height-wise. Elsie shuffled to your other side.
“We should look for Alistair,” you suggested, raising your voice to be heard over the other conversations around you.
Winnie nodded with excitement, “Uh huh! So he and Destiny can see how lovely our outfits look tonight!” You glanced at Elsie whose cheeks turned pink at the thought.
“Well, we’re gonna have to leave y’all here,” Ramona said. Mary and the other girl were already sinking into the sea of people. “Good luck finding your friend.” She saluted you with two fingers before walking away, running her hands through her red hair.
As you made your way through the crowd of people, you saw one of your other roommates: Ziggy Armstrong. He was next to a boy you presumed to be the best friend he frequently talked about whenever you hung out.
“Ziggy!”
The boy glanced at you at the sound of your voice but still eagerly listened to his friend's conversation. You brought your arms to a shrugging motion, shaking your hands silently asking for Alistair’s location.
Ziggy pointed behind him to a corner of the room where you could make out two people sitting awfully close.
You crinkled your nose at the thought of Alistair making out with his girlfriend and having to intervene in their... bonding session. It's not that you've never done anything of the sort, you just felt a tad uncomfortable seeing it happen, considering you never had feelings for the person you were with at the time. You gave Ziggy a thumbs up, only to see he’d gone back to engaging in his conversation.
“Over this way,” you pointed to where Alistair was.
Your group shuffled through the crowd, sliding past tightly cramped students and dodging the dancing teens to reach your friend. You led the way, and your friends rapidly followed suit.
You neared the duo, quickening your steps, when you saw them get up. You couldn't call out to Alistair and the person he was with — whom, to Elsie's displeasure, was Destiny White — since the chatter among the other people was too invasive and would muffle your shout.
Suddenly, someone walked in front of you. Since you hadn’t seen them, you ran face-first into them, foreheads bumping together, causing momentary pain in your skull. You felt liquid on your chest. It seemed whomever it was spilt their drinks when you crashed into them.
“(Name)!” Winnie and the rest of your party caught up to you to make sure you were fine, “Are you alright?”
“Yeah…” you groaned, obviously contradicting your statement.
A bit peeved, you glared at the person you bumped into through your lashes, pressing your naturally cold hands to your forehead, only to be met with a light grey glower from the worst person you could bump into at the moment: Cedric fucking Diggory.
He said something, but his words fell on deaf ears as you pushed past him.
You rushed to where Alistair was, only to find the space occupied by a group of Gryffindors laughing about the Triwizard Tournament's unexpected appearance.
You groused, throwing your hands into the air in frustration, before pivoting around to find your other friends.
They were still where you left them, Elsie and Brian waited for you arms crossed and deadpanned expressions, while Winnie hurried over to meet you, a look of worry etched on her soft features. She lightly grabbed your left arm, walking with you to the two others. You vaguely noticed Cedric had dissipated into the crowd.
“Don’t leave us alone with that Hufflepuff git again,” Elsie scolded, tapping your chest with her index finger.
You looked away, rubbing the back of your neck, which started heating up. It happened whenever you were embarrassed or flustered. Sometimes, when you felt ashamed. “Sorry, I was stupid,” you apologise, pressing your cold hand on your heated neck.
“Your shirt! There’s a spill!” Winnie gasped, pointing at your chest.
You looked down to see an orange stain on your white button-up, uncomfortably sticking to your skin. You cringed at the sight, feeling your nape growing hotter again. You couldn’t wear that shirt anymore unless you thoroughly washed it.
“Here,” Winnie removed the brown sweater you lent her and handed it back, “You need this more than me. Besides, I need to show off my fashion!” She twirled around and posed.
Elsie snorted, and Brian smiled, the skin of his burn mark stretching. You pulled the sweater onto your head, the corner of your mouth twitching upwards.
“I think we’ll be alright without Alistair,” Brain admitted, leaning to his right with a lopsided grin.
Winnie laughed in agreement.
You saw Elsie's slightly pained expression, and placed a hand on her shoulder, “We’re bound to cross paths with him at some point,” you added to Brian’s statement, although your words were primarily meant for Elsie’s ears.
“Yeah!! Let’s have fun tonight!!” Winnie pumped her fist into the air with delight, already advancing towards the food and drinks table.
“I don’t think I’d participate, personally,” Winnie shrugged, words slightly slurred from the two cups of alcohol she consumed, not sober, but not completely under the influence, “I’m not much of a competitive babe.”
You stirred your non-alcoholic (drink name) with a straw, a tinge of jealousy squeezing your heart. Since your birthday was later in the school year, you weren’t allowed to participate in the Triwizard Tournament — the infamous competition between Hogwarts and its rival schools your mother told you about when you were little.
What made it even worse was that Cedric could be participating. He was of age — well, would be soon — and no doubt had enough skill to be chosen as Hogwarts champion of this year. However, you were uncertain if he had it in him to act remotely aggressive towards the other school’s champions. Maybe he would try to get in just to rub it in your face.
Elsie smirked, “Yeah? Well I think I would. I’m 17 in less than a month.”
You felt a tap on your shoulder. You turned around to see Ziggy and his blonde best friend, a coy smile on his face, “Hey, we’re gonna play Spin the Bottle in a different room, wanna join?”
Your friends had stopped chatting; you responded with a nonchalant shrug, “Sure, I don’t see why not. Could be entertaining.”
“If (Name)’s in, I most certainly am, but don’t count on me kissing people on the lips specifically,” Brian chimed in, setting his drink down on the table next to the chips and suspicious-looking candy.
“Excellent,” Ziggy gave you a thumbs up, turning to the girls, he asked, “How about you ladies? Alistair’s gonna be there, too; it could be the full gang.”
Elsie perked up at the mention of Alistair before realising how odd it must have appeared, slouching back against the wall, eyes disinterested, “Alright, I’m in. How about you Winnie?”
Winnie frantically shook her head, chuckling as she spoke, “Absolutely not. I am not risking the bottle landing on my brother and I. No incest. Nope. Not today, perverts,” she rambled, waving her hand in the air in a tipsy manner.
Ziggy shrugged and started heading to a hallway you didn’t notice before, the blonde boy following after. Brian waved to Winnie and walked along with Ziggy. You stayed back to wait for Elsie.
“Alright,” she hesitated, “Are you fine with being alone here?”
Winnie smirked drunkenly, “Yeahhhh. But if you get bored, you can keep me company if you wanna.”
Elsie nodded in understanding, giving her a small smile, joining you as you caught up to the three other boys.
The room you entered was much smaller than the one you had been in moments before. Wooden shelves had been shoved closer to the stone grey walls, leaving space for the twenty-something students to sit comfortably in a wonky circle.
You recognised many people from your year, notably Alistair, Destiny, and — unfortunately — Cedric Diggory and his friends. You stuck to the opposite side of the room from where he was, slipping into a space next to Alistair. Destiny was busy talking to a Hufflepuff girl next to her and barely acknowledging your presence.
“Hello,” Alistair said and — to your surprise — he seemed sober, “Where have you been.”
“Searching for you,” Brian responded, settling next to you, “We gave up pretty early on, but it’s the thought that counts.”
Alistair laughed, “You’re here, Brian? I never thought your sad virgin ass would dare play a game like this. Even Elsie surprises me less. Nice skirt, by the way; it suits you.” He said nonchalantly.
Brian huffed and crossed his arms, light pink dusting his cheeks at being called out, while Elsie squinted in confusion, sliding next to you, “I’m not sure whether you’re saying that sarcastically or whether you’re serious. Is this a compliment?”
“Take it as you please.” Alistair shrugged.
“Alright, ladies and gentlemen,” you turned your head to the sound of Ziggy’s voice in the middle of the circle, “Welcome, to our lovely little game: Spin the Bottle! I trust all of you have heard of it at least once in your sorry little lives, so we’ll just get on with the activity.”
He settled next to his best friend, who placed a bottle in the middle of the circle. “I volunteer to spin it first,” the blonde says, twisting the bottle, spinning it around, and then crawling back to his spot.
You held your breath in anticipation as the glass bottle slowed, only to land back on the same person who spun it. He laughed, “I don’t think that counts.”
“No redos,” insisted Ziggy, teasingly punching him in the arm, “Don’t be greedy; it’s my turn now. We’ll go around the circle clockwise, so everyone will get to kiss someone at some point. And don’t think any kiss less than five seconds will count.” You muffled a chuckle as Brian longingly looked at the exit.
One by one, the students spun the bottle around. So far, it never pointed to either Elsie, Brian or you; it did, however, land on Alistair, who — rather passionately — snogged a Gryffindor girl, much to Elsie’s displeasure. You noticed Destiny’s smile wavering, a look of betrayal in her eyes. When it was her turn, her lips barely touched those of the boy the bottle landed on.
Next went Alistair. That meant he would kiss two people in the duration of the game, while the rest of your friends hadn’t even had one.
The bottle spun, anticipation raised. You could see at least three girls excluding his girlfriend and Elsie, sitting on edge with hope, eyes glued to the rotating glass. You had to admit, you wouldn’t complain if it pointed to you; you knew he was famous for not only his looks but for his sexual talents.
The bottle slowed and finally stopped.
You turned to your left to see Elsie’s shocked expression. You weren’t completely sure whether it was good that she would be kissing him or whether her lack of experience would ruin everything.
You realised that your thoughts were trying to excuse cheating, and glanced at Destiny’s oddly calm expression, her thin eyebrow knotted together in intrigue.
You scooted backwards so that Alistair and Elsie were directly beside each other.
Her cheeks were coated in a light pink blush, her eyes cast away from the pretty boy’s face, and you knew if you pressed your hand to her chest, you would feel her heart beat like rapid fire.
When Elsie’s gaze met Alistair’s, he frowned and shook his head. “I refuse.”
A wave of murmurs enveloped the crowd. Your eyes widened. Was this seriously going to end up in another argument?
“...What?” Elsie whispered a slimmer of confused betrayal and deep sadness could be noticed on her pale face.
“I said I don’t want to kiss you.”
“Wha-why not?” Elsie looked positively irritated, and frankly, a little embarrassed. “You kissed that other girl.” A few giggles could be heard from the students. You glanced over and saw Cedric gazing at your friend with empathy. Ziggy shared a glance with his best friend, a look of uncertainty.
Alistair shrugged, “Yeah, but that’s different. You’re just not really appealing to me. And why do you actually care? Do you like me or something?” He teased, but it seemed to strike a nerve.
Elsie’s already flushed cheeks turned as red as her chequered skirt, “Of course not! Why would you think that?” She glanced at the spectacle of onlookers, “I just, um.” She trailed off, and got up frantically, wiping the nonexistent dust from her skirt, “I don’t feel like playing anymore.”
She spun on her heel and rapidly exited the room.
You quickly got up to follow, but Alistair grabbed your shoulder, a gaze of newly-found maturity in his eyes, “No, (Name), let me handle things.”
He left, and you apprehensively sat back down, sharing a worried glance with Brian. Destiny got up and left, mumbling an illegible excuse. Now that three people you knew were gone, the room felt awfully spacious.
Without missing a beat, Ziggy attempted to restore the ambience, “Alright! I believe it’s your turn, (Name).”
You nodded silently, pushing your anxiety to the back of your mind; Alistair had it handled, you were sure. It was about time he learned how to be responsible and apologise.
You crawled to the middle of the circle and spun the bottle — not as fast as Alistair since you didn’t like the anticipation.
Your eyes wandered over to the door. Maybe it was because you were worried about Elsie’s mental state. Maybe it was because you didn’t completely trust Alistair with handling her emotions.
You felt Brian tap your thigh. “(Name)? You’re not gonna like this.”
“Hm?” You snapped your attention back to the room, gaze falling onto the bottle pointing in the opposite direction. Your eyes slowly lifted to see who the person you were supposed to kiss.
That’s when you realised what Brian meant by you not liking who it landed on.
You and Cedric’s gazes connected, a tornado of emotion whirling in your eyes, a storm of hatred between you.
“Alright, now, please, proceed to kiss.” Ziggy insisted.
“I pass.”
“So do I.”
You and Cedric glared at one another. There was no way you were kissing that dickhead. You’d rather die, and you could say the feeling was mutual for him.
Ziggy groaned, “Don’t stall. As a punishment, you’ve got to kiss for at least ten seconds. Now, my little lovebirds, kiss before I make you use your tongues.” Your neck started heating up at the thought.
You don’t know what made you do it — maybe curiosity, maybe Ziggy’s threat, possibly something else — but you shuffled closer to Cedric, who, noticing that you were complying, decided to do it as well, refusing to back down from your nonexistent challenge.
Your heartbeat in your chest, your breath quickened from nervousness, or perhaps you were nauseated enough by him that your adrenaline energised you.
“Reminder: ten seconds!” you perceived Ziggy’s voice in the background, “We’ll count for you.”
You took a deep breath through your nose, eyes flickering from Cedric’s lips to his cold grey eyes, and leaned in. Noticing you had already taken action, the Hufflepuff hesitantly did the same.
You closed your eyes and felt his lips brush against yours before connecting in a surprisingly soft kiss.
“Ten,” you faintly heard the other students chant, counting along in your head.
His lips were rather soft, you noted, subconsciously pressing your mouth harder against his.
“Nine.”
An unknown feeling crept into your chest, as you and Cedric, seemed to be pressing up against one another, while also desperately trying to pull away.
Eight.
Your heartbeat quickened, a thumping drum against your ribcage.
Seven.
Your hot neck kept getting hotter, uncomfortably so, as the kiss prolonged. It hadn’t even been five seconds — or perhaps it had been and your peers were just teasing you, intentionally taking their time counting.
Six.
You imagined what Brian might have looked like at the current moment. Shocked? Annoyed? You knew if Alistair saw you and Cedric, lip to lip, he would have flipped a table.
You breathed through your nose, in sync with your rival, like waves pulling in and out from the tide.
How long had you and Cedric been kissing? Had it already been ten seconds? Should you pull away? Or was it not over yet, and if you stopped, you had to restart the whole experience?
A small voice in your head spoke, a whisper of wind echoing through your thoughts. Maybe you should stay like this for a bit longer. It wasn’t like you didn’t enjoy it. Cedric’s lips were soft and warm.
In that instant, your body felt burning, as if a sudden wave of embarrassment decided to envelop you, like a heated reminder that you’ve been kissing the one person in the entire room you felt aggressive towards.
Oh shit.
You backed away, an odd sense of unfulfillment in your racing heart as your lips parted from Cedric’s.
You looked at him, into his gorgeous stone grey eyes, and, if you weren’t blushing already, you were now.
You scrambled up, trying to maintain a decently dignified composer. Your jaw tightened, and your (eye colour) eyes hardened into cold gems, not a single emotion behind your gaze.
“I’m leaving,” you announced to the group, still staring at Cedric. The world around him and you faded like a smoky memory.
Slowly, you backed away, attempting to ignore the hotness of your nape and the thumping of your heart, beating loudly in your eardrums until you finally broke eye contact with the Hufflepuff as you walked back into the main party space.
...
Thank you for reading, please comment any suggestions you have or any issues I should fix.
If y'all are interested, here's how I imagined Elsie would look during the party.

✰  ✰  ✰
“Theodore Nott, I’m gonna kick your sorry ass!” You shouted.
You reached across the table in the great hall where Theo sat directly in front of you. He had stolen all of the bacon off of your breakfast plate and refused to give it up. Mornings were always quite hectic at the slytherin table, but this was downright unacceptable.
“Nope,” he smirked as he popped a piece into his mouth, “they were all out when I went up for breakfast. This bacon is mine now, sweetheart.”
You huffed, and sat back down in your seat. “You’re ridiculous. If you weren’t so damn late all the time, maybe you would have had some bacon of your own.”
“Here (Y/N),” Enzo smiled from his seat right next to you. “You can have some of my bacon.” He picked the best looking pieces and put them on your plate.
“Aw, Enzo!” You grinned as you picked a piece up and ate it happily. “This is why you're my best friend.”
“Hey!” Pansy shouted from the other side of you. “Thought I was your best friend.”
“You didn’t give up a piece of bacon for her,” Draco smirked, “you’ve been demoted.”
Mattheo gruffed. “Enzo, you’re kind of mean, you know that? (Y/N) complains she’s all out of bacon and you jump to give her a piece, but when I say I need someone to do my charms homework for me, you don’t even try to lift a finger.”
“Mattheo, how many times do I have to tell you,” Enzo said, “I’m never gonna do your homework. And it’s not fair to compare that to giving up a piece of bacon! I don't even like bacon all that much!”
“Dude!” Blaise gasped from next to Draco, “if you don’t like bacon you should have passed that down this way a long time ago.”
Pansy scoffed and shook her head. “I’m surrounded by idiots.”
“Hey,” you whined as you ate another piece of bacon, “I’m the least idiot of the bunch, right Pans?”
“Whatever helps you sleep at night, (Y/N/N).”
You grinned, about to rebuttal when the morning owl dropped an envelope in front of you.
“What’s this?” You questioned as you picked it up.
“Uh, I think it’s quite obviously a letter, (Y/N/N).” Mattheo said as he stuffed his mouth full of bacon. “And, to think, you were trying to say you’re the least idiot of us.” He laughed.
“Oi,” Theo knocked his shoulder against Mattheo’s. “Leave her be. I’ve never seen her get a letter before, I’m curious.”
Draco shifted slightly in his seat. “Who’s it from, (Y/N/N)?”
“Nevermind who it’s from,” Blaise chuckled, “I wanna know what it says.”
“Why would you wanna know what it says and not know who it’s from?” Enzo asked, “That's like half the fun.”
You shrugged as you tore open the envelope. Opening the folds of the letter, your cheeks started to warm as you read what was inside.
“What is it?” Pansy asked as she leaned closer, trying to catch a glimpse.
“It says, uh,” you cleared your throat, a little bit flustered. “It says ‘people love to stare up at the stars, glimmering as they might in the night sky, yet everyone is too scared to enjoy the beauty that is the sun. you are my sun, and I would willingly go blind to catch even just a glimpse of you each day.’”
You friends all stared at you in shock. Draco, Blaise and Mattheo had their mouths hung open in shock. Enzo blushed a little bit, Theo had his eyebrows raised like he appreciated the words written on the page, and Pansy all but squealed as you read the letter.
“Oh my god, I think I’m going to combust,” Pansy swooned.
“Who’s it from?” Theo asked.
You shrugged, “I don’t know.” You flipped the letter to the back to see if it was signed at all. “It’s only signed with a heart.”
“That is so romantic!” Pansy squealed as she clasped her hands around your arm. “Our sweet (Y/N) has a secret admirer!”
“Wonder who it could be,” Draco said as he flicked his fingers in motion to hand him the letter.
You complied, and passed the note to him.
“I don’t know,” he said as he flipped it all around. “The handwriting sort of looks familiar.”
“Maybe it’s someone you know?” Theo suggested as he grabbed the letter from Draco’s hands. He took it upon himself to check it out a time or two before passing it to Mattheo’s eager grasp.
“I think it’s kind of funny,” Mattheo chuckled. “What if it’s some first year trying to make their move on you?”
You shuttered. “Merlin, I sure hope not. I honestly don’t think a first year would be able to write something so beautiful.”
“Yeah, no way,” Pansy shook her head. “Mattheo, you’re just jealous you weren’t the one who sent (Y/N) this letter. Maybe she’d give you a chance if you did something romantic, or just not annoying for once.”
“First,” Mattheo said, “ouch. Second, who says I’m not the one who wrote (Y/N) this love letter?”
“Mattheo, you wouldn’t know romance if it hit you with a ten foot pole.” Pansy said.
“Hey!” Mattheo complained. “Someone tell her I’m romantic.”
“Hell no,” Draco scoffed. “You’re ‘bout as romantic as bloody boil, mate.”
You laughed as Mattheo scrunched his face up. The bells chimed signaling the end of breakfast and the start of first class.
“I’m not too worried about it,” you said as you stood and started packing your stuff up. “It’s just a little letter. No harm in it.”
“But you don’t want to know who sent it?” Pansy asked as she grabbed her belongings as well.
You shrugged, “I don’t know yet. I’m not silly enough to expect something to come from this; it’s just a note. It could be a prank for all we know.”
“No one who writes like that is doing it as a prank,” Theo remarked.
“Well, still, whatever the reason may be, I’m not gonna go out looking for this person. No matter how sweet the words are.” You smiled, “I’m gonna head to class, bye guys.”
On your way to class, you couldn’t help but recite the words written in the letter. They had made your heart flutter, as stupid as that sounds. You slightly resented the way it made you feel as it was only a few measly words on paper, but the romantic part of you couldn’t help but want to know who was behind them.
✰  ✰  ✰
In your last class of the day, you finally were able to see your good friend Luna Lovegood. You had been waiting all morning to have class with her so you can inform her of the letter you received that morning.
“And it was just so poetic, Luna. No one has ever said anything like that about me before.”
She smiled at you as you mindlessly drew on your assignment. “I think it sounds quite lovely. Do you have any idea who it may be from?”
You shook your head. “No idea. I don’t even think I know anyone who writes, well, anything.”
“What about that boy Enzo you always hang out with?” Luna suggested. “I’ve got him in my literature class, he’s very talented.”
You thought to yourself for a second. Could it be possible Enzo was your secret admirer? You’d been friends for so long, and he’d always be especially kind to you.
Well, he’s especially kind to everyone, now that you think about it.
“I don’t know,” you honestly replied. “I guess I just never would have expected it to be one of my friends, let alone Enzo.”
“I wouldn’t rule out your group of friends,” Luna said with a smile, “it could really be any one of them.”
“You think so?”
“Well, maybe not all of them, but I think it could be a good place to start if you were wanting to figure out who it is.”
As you pondered over Luna’s words, Slughorn made it a point to reiterate there was no talking allowed during the assignment.
You rolled your eyes and got back to work, waiting for this class to be over so you could finally figure out who wrote you the letter.
✰  ✰  ✰
Back in the common room you saw Pansy, Draco, and Enzo sitting on the couches.
“Hey, (Y/N/N)!” Pansy smiled as she scooted over and patted the spot next to her. “Find out anything new about your secret admirer?”
You smiled with a roll of your eyes as you sat with her. You kicked your shoes off and folded your legs under your body. “No, but I think I’ve got an idea brewing of how to find them.”
“Oh,” Draco smirked from the couch across from you. He folded his arms over his chest, “do tell, (Y/N), I’m very curious to see who it could be.”
You shook your head, teasingly, “not a chance, Malfoy. I’m not giving up my secrets til I get to the bottom of this thing.”
Draco raised his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, doll, if you wanna be secretive about your already secret admirer, I respect it.”
Enzo shifted in his seat a little uncomfortably. “It’s kind of strange though that they went out of their way to write something to you but kept it a secret. It just makes me a little apprehensive.”
“Oh, chill out, scaredy cat,” Pansy said. “(Y/N) will be fine, and if it’s someone weird at least she’s got us to look out for her.”
You grinned and wrapped your arms around Pansy’s neck. “Quit getting all sweet on me, Pans.”
She chuckled and playfully pushed you away. “Yeah, yeah. I’m not getting sweet, don’t get it twisted.”
You chuckled. “I think I’m gonna head up, got lots of scheming to get to,” you teased with a wiggle of your eyebrows.
You stood up from the couch and Pansy stood with you. “Farewell, boys, it’s been awful as usual.” She said with a smirk.
“Thank Salazar you’re leaving,” Draco said to her. “Your presence was such a nuisance.”
Pansy snarled at him and dramatically turned away to head up the stairs. You and Enzo shared a short laugh before you followed her up the stairs to your shared bedroom.
✰  ✰  ✰
The next morning, you were last to the dining hall for breakfast.
“Finally, she makes it,” Mattheo called out before taking a swig of his orange juice.
You huff and settle into your seat between Enzo and Pansy. “I know, I overslept something horrible this morning.”
Since you were so late, the kitchen staff had already stopped serving breakfast meaning you were going without this morning.
Theo glanced at you from across the table and pushed his plate towards you. “Here,” he said, “take anything you want.”
You looked down at saw scrambled eggs, french toast, and sausage links on his plate.
“Really?” You grinned as you grabbed a sausage link from his plate.
Theo nodded, “yeah, can’t have you go without eating. Lord only knows what a monster you can be without food.” He teased with a small smirk.
You crinkled your nose up at his and grabbed a piece of french toast as well. “I’m gonna let that slide since you were nice enough to give up your breakfast. Don’t make me regret my kindness.”
Theo chuckled and pulled his plate back to him, glancing up at you before delving back into his plate.
Mattheo tried to reach his hand over to Theo’s plate but was met with a slap on the wrist.
“Ow!” Mattheo said as he cradled his wrist in fake hurt. “Theo, how could you? I thought we had something special.”
Theo rolled his eyes. “You got more food on your plate then the rest of us combined. I think you’ll be alright.”
You chuckled, but a thought crept into your mind. “Hey, guys, uh, did the post come today?” You asked.
Draco raised his eyebrow with a smirk. “Waiting for another letter, are we?”
Your face burned as you shrugged your shoulders. “I don’t know. I kinda wanna get to the bottom of who it is.”
“You’ll find ‘em, (Y/N/N),” Pansy said, “even if I have to interrogate everyone we know. We’ll get down to the bottom of it.”
Just as she said that, the morning owl came swooping down towards you and dropped a small slip of paper in front of you.
Draco smirked, “Looks like someone really wants your attention, (Y/N/N).”
You tried to hold back your smile as you unfolded the small post it note.
You couldn’t help the smile on your face as you read out to them, “'I love to see you smile, especially when you’re smiling at me.’ Aw, that’s kind of sweet, actually.”
“Don’t tell me you’re starting to get sweet for this mystery man,” Blaise interrupts.
You shrug as you fold the note back up. “I don’t know, it is pretty sweet, no? And this must mean it’s someone I know personally because they said I smile at them.”
“Oh Godric,” Mattheo grinned, “you’ve fallen for a mystery man.”
“No I haven’t!” You protest. “I just think it’s sweet and now I know it’s someone I’m friends with and not some creepy first year.”
“Wait,” Theo said, “how do you know it’s someone you’re friends with?”
“Because it says I smile at them,” you said obviously. “Who else do I smile at?”
“(Y/N), I hate to break it to you,” Pansy said as she placed a hand on your shoulder, “but you’re the most smiley slytherin I’ve ever met.”
You shrugged off her hand with a fake glare. “Hey! Give me some credit, I can be bad sometimes.”
Enzo chuckled, this is the first time he spoke all conversation. “You’re too sweet to be bad, (Y/N/N).”
You grinned and playfully bumped your shoulder against his. “Yeah, yeah, I know. I just know it’s someone I know. I can feel it. It’s not some random person, it can’t be.”
The bell rang, signaling the end of breakfast. You and your friends stood up to leave. You couldn’t help but think about the notes you received, pondering on who it could possibly be.
✰  ✰  ✰
“Post is running late this morning,” Draco noted as the clock struck 8:26 with no sight of the morning owl.
You were a tad disappointed. You had pondered all day yesterday about who it could be. You’ve narrowed it down quite a bit, and you think Luna may be on to something. While you don’t exactly think for sure that it’s Enzo, you do think you’ve narrowed it down to your group of close friends.
You really just can’t see anyone else knowing you well enough to be this fascinated with you. The only one out of your friend group that you completely had ruled out is Blaise.
Blaise was definitely out because out of the whole friend group, he was the least close with you. Frankly, you guys just don’t talk nearly as much as you talk to the rest of them.
“Great,” Mattheo gruffed, “how will I be entertained this morning without (Y/N)‘s secret stalker and his confession of love.”
Okay, maybe Mattheo was out too.
“Oi,” Theo piped up. “Don’t knock it too hard, (Y/N) seems to be enjoying herself with the letters.”
You blushed a little as you shrugged. “I don’t want to seem weird by how invested I am in it, but I just think it’s sweet. No one’s ever really expressed this kind of feeling for me, so… you know,” you shrugged awkwardly, your face definitely beet red by now.
“Well I for one am extremely invested in this,” Pansy said. “I’m lowkey jealous that I’m not the one with a secret admirer. What I wouldn’t give for someone to think of me that way.”
“Maybe someday someone will like you, Pansy,” Enzo said reassuringly.
“We might all be dead by the time that happens, but who knows, it might happen,” Mattheo said.
Pansy gasped with a glare. “Wow what crawled up your ass this morning?”
Mattheo shrugged and focused his attention back to his breakfast plate.
“Anyway,” Draco said, “I’m intrigued as well. I think I’ve got an idea who it could be, but I'm not quite positive.”
You parked up at that. “Really? Who’s your guess?”
Draco smirked, “Wouldn’t you like to know.” He teased.
You glared at him, “Malfoy, if you know who it is you better spill.”
“I’m not saying I know who it is, I’m just saying I have a hunch at who it may be.”
“Oh!” Enzo exclaims as he points up in the air, “here comes the owl.”
You grin in anticipation as the owl drops a little note down in front of you. It was a larger note than yesterday, but this time it didn’t have something sweet written on it.
It had a clue.
“It just says ‘being your friend is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, though I’d be lying if I said i didn’t want to be more.’” You read.
“So it is one of you!” Pansy shouted as she pointed her finger towards everyone at the table.
Draco smirked, “that was my hunch. ‘Had a feeling it was one of these blokes.”
“And who says it’s not you, Malfoy?” Mattheo questioned with a raise of his brow.
“Please,” Draco scoffed, “if I wanted to woo (Y/N) she’d be mine by now.”
“Oh big talk from down that end,” Pansy rolled her eyes.
“I could get anyone I want,” Draco puffed his chest. “I don’t need to be anonymous to do so.”
“Hey, don’t hate on my letters, Draco.” You complained. “Least they got the balls to say something.”
“Barely counts as having balls when they won’t even say who they are.” Mattheo countered.
You huffed as your table fell into somewhat of a silence. Conversations picked up without you as your thoughts trailed off.
Theo had been extremely quiet this entire time. While he was never the chatter bug, it was odd having gone almost the entire breakfast without hearing from him.
As everyone else was engaged in conversation, you stared at the boy sitting across from you. His head was down as he played with his breakfast, pushing it around with his fork.
You lightly kicked his leg under the table.
Theo’s head perked up. His eyes stared into yours, and for a moment, you couldn’t remember what you wanted to say to the boy.
His eyebrow raised in question as a small smirk glazed his lips.
You blushed a little. “I-uh just wanted to see if you were alright. You didn’t really say too much the whole time we’ve been here.”
Theo shrugged as his smile dropped. “yeah, just don’t got too much input.”
Your heart swelled. You really had turned each morning to revolve around you and your secret pen pal.
“Sorry, Theo. I didn't mean to annoy you with all my talk of the letters.”
He shook his head. “You could never annoy me, doll.”
Your heart beat like crazy.
“Still, though, I feel bad about how much I’ve put into this. Let’s talk about something else.” You offered, “how’s class going?”
Theo chuckled and ran a hand through his tousled hair. “Shit. I’m drowning in assignments and got two quizzes coming up that I’m just not ready for.”
The bell rang.
Theo groaned. “Got one next class. I think I might skip, though. Give myself some more time to prepare for it.”
As everyone started walking out of the dining hall, you grabbed Theo’s arm and pulled him back.
His eyes widened slightly, but quickly reverted back to normal.
“Maybe I‘ll skip with you,” you said, “if you’ll have me, that is. I can help you study. What class is it?”
Theo hesitated. “It’s, uh, herbology. ‘m not very good with plants and all that.”
You grinned, “I can help! I’m not too bad with flowers and plants.”
Theo nodded, “yeah, I could really use the help.”
“Okay, you wanna go to the library then?”
Theo shook his head. “I’ve got a good spot. Come on.” He grabbed your hand and pulled you with him.
You followed him all the way out to the courtyard towards the opposite end of the school. You walked until you reach a large bench with intricate designs on the backing and arm rests.
Theo took a seat. “Figured this would be good as any. Least now we can look at some plants up close, eh?”
You chuckled and took a seat next to him. “Yeah, sounds great, Theo. You got your textbook?”
He nodded and dug through his bag to pull it out. Once he handed it to you, you started flipping through the pages to get to the important material.
“I’ve got the herbology exam 4th period, so I can help you study and it’ll help me study too! Win, win.”
Theo grinned and ran a hand through his hair. “Sounds good, doll.”
Your cheeks blushed. You couldn’t help the smile that graced your face. “I like when you call me doll.”
Your smile dropped. “Oh, geez, I did not mean to say that out loud.”
Theo’s face remained blank. That just made you more nervous.
“Great, now I’ve weirded you out.” You exasperated. “I’m really sorry, Theo, I didn’t mean to-“
“I’m not weirded out, doll.” He cut you off. “Was just a little stunned is all. Didn’t expect you to say something like that.”
You thought your face couldn’t get any hotter than it already was, but somehow it did.
“Well, still,” you mumbled as you looked down at the textbook again, “sorry.”
Theo sat for a minute, watching as you flipped through the book. Your eyebrows furrowed a little in aggravation. You were annoyed at yourself for how stupid you were being. It was Theo for Salazar sake.
Though, you couldn’t help but admire the boy. He was gorgeous, for one, but he was also charming and witty. He was sweet and generous. You couldn’t deny you were attracted to him, but you had never thought he would see you in the same light.
“(Y/N)?” Theo called.
You looked up into his eyes.
Theo stared at you, taking in each one of your features. Your eyes, your lips, your nose. You shifted a little, way too aware of his gaze on you.
“Theo?” You called back. His gaze shifted back to your eyes.
Before you could say anything, he softly spoke, “I’m the one sending you those letters, (Y/N/N).”
You stared at him in shock.
No way.
“Y-you’re the one who wrote me the letters?”
He slowly nodded his head. Theo’s lip was drawn in between his teeth. “Is, uh, are you disappointed?”
“What?” you exclaimed.
He shrugged, “I mean, you just really seemed to like the letters, and I know you wanted to know who it was, so I just hope I haven’t disappointed you in the revelation.”
You shook your head. “Actually, it’s quite the opposite.”
Theo’s head shot up to look at you. “Really?”
You smiled and nodded. “Mhm, I like you Theo. I have for a while now, actually, I just thought you’d never give a chance.”
He laughed. “You thought I’d never give you a chance? I thought you’d never give me a chance.”
You laughed loudly together. When it finally subsided to quiet chuckles, you said,  “I really like you, Theo.”
Theo’s smile grew. In a quick moment, he grabbed the back of your neck and pulled you in for a kiss.
You gasped against his lips, and wrapped your arms around his neck as you kissed him back. His textbook fell off your lap as he pulled you closer by the waist.
You kissed him until you couldn’t kiss anymore. Finally pulling back, Theo’s grin was the cutest thing you’ve ever seen, even with his lips a little puffy from your kiss.
“I really like you, Theodore.”
He grinned, “I really like you, more (Y/N).”

Let Me Protect You - Prologue

Theodore Nott x Hufflepuff Reader
Tumblr media

Note - I am making a series, hopefully it be will long. This does contain a lot of angst however there will be fluff, happy ending of course. Feel free to comment your thoughts on the prologue of my series.
Tumblr media
The great hall was bursting with chatter, laughter without letting you think. Y/N sees Mattheo and Draco playing the ridiculous game, who can make the person cower more to them. Blaise as usual being the judge. Pansy was in deep consideration with Lorenzo’s face going all red, poor lad couldn’t keep up with that witch.
And then there was Theo, wandering his eyes out of space until he met yours across the hall. You weren’t the one for much communication between even your so called friends, preferring your own company most of the time.
You find that most people are not reliable, they make you feel small by stepping on you in the wrong directions. You overthink, you are restless coming to a conclusion that you are better off alone, not too close with anyone.
What’s the point? You always get left out somehow.. “Friends” seem to care for a min or two with them getting something out of you. Until they realise that you do not fit in therefore abandoning you.
You may have cried over their lack of effort towards you, their harsh words after the friendship is over but what they didn’t know.. is that you came through stronger.
Digging your nose through books, always studying to meet good grades and even so the best expectations for yourself.
When you felt Theodore’s gaze towards you, your breath hitch. You close your eyes, pretending that it is not real. You are only being fooled. It’s a restless game he will not give up, not only because of his ability to charm that halfhearted spirited grin but because of his pride, his ego, his determination.
Everyone knows not to play or to begin to think entertaining Theo’s flute as it leads to ruin. Girls do ignore this from time to time, all they get is to be left behind on the sidelines.
You however, will not be another victim of one of his many little games.
Theodore on the other hand, he finds himself full of curiosity with you and your little Hufflepuff status.
As they say curiosity kills the cat!

CINDY LOU WHO. cedric diggory
( master list )
IN WHICH… Y/N L/N helps her crush and longtime best friend, Cedric Diggory, get with another girl. Deep down, she knows she’ll never be the bright and bubbly girl Cedric wants. She’ll always be the cunning snake with a knack for starting fights.
“Cindy Lou is bright, bubbly, and extraordinary… she’s everything I’m not.”
A/N: I do take requests so feel free to ask for one :). I mainly write for Maze Runner, Harry Potter, PJO, and Hunger Games
Guess you make him happy like I couldn't do. Cindy Lou Who. With your hair so long, lips so red. Maybe we met once, I forget
Tumblr media
Scrolling five years back, I'm obsessed. Breaking my heart, 'tis the season, I guess. The snow's gonna fall and the tree's gonna glisten. And I'm gonna puke at the thought of you kissin'
“The boy who I love who's now in love with you. Cindy Lou Who.”
Y/N sighed as she impatiently checked her watch and tapped her foot against the stone floor. It was almost curfew and Cedric was still a no show. The rules were less strict now that school was done, but Y/N had a reputation to live up to. It was the least she could do with all the trouble she had caused this year.
“Y/N.” Cedric jogged towards her, looking out of breath. She arched an eyebrow and her gaze scanned his untidy uniform.
“… Do I even want to ask?” She questioned.
“Ah.” Cedric sheepishly smiled, “My friends and I were playing hide and seek. It was a pretty intense game.” Even during his senior years, Cedric was still the bright-eyed kid Y/N had grown up with.
“Right. Well, why did you want to see me? You know how I don’t like going out before curfew.” Y/N folded her arms over her chest, “Plus, you’re late.” She quickly added.
“I know. I’m sorry about that. I just had to grab this.” Cedric pulled out a black box, smiling. He carefully opened it, showing the necklace to Y/N. “Do you recognize the crystal?” He questioned, making Y/N scoff.
“Of course I do. It’s my birth month crystal. (Insert crystal).”
Cedric grinned. “You still know so much more about gems than me. You should’ve been put in Ravenclaw.”
“Oh, please. If I was put there, I would be sleeping in the hallways. I can’t figure out riddles.”
Cedric playfully nudged her with his elbow. “Don’t say that. You’re smart.”
The pair walked beside each other as the moonlight shone through the cracks of the castle. Cedric had slipped the necklace box back into his pocket and he gently cleared his throat.
“I’m going to give the necklace to Cho.” He suddenly blurted out, causing Y/N to pause. She looked over her shoulder at Cedric, wondering if he was joking. He wasn’t.
“Why? She’s your ex.” Y/N felt mildly disappointed that the necklace wasn’t for her. For the longest time, she had been holding onto her feelings for Cedric. Everybody could see it; the Golden trio, the teachers, even Draco’s posse. And yet Cedric had never caught on. She was starting to wonder if he was just messing with her.
“She helped me through a lot. I owe it to her.” Cedric smiled. Y/N gazed at him before she nodded.
“Okay… I’m guessing you want my help?”
“Yes. Please.” Cedric was ready to get on his knees and beg. Though, he was sure Y/N would find great amusement in that. She had always been a little sadistic.
Y/N briefly looked away, blinking away small tears and recollecting her composure so her voice wouldn’t crack. “What do you want me to do?”
edric had wanted to meet Cho at the black late, which was where he and Y/N usually hung out. That stung.
Y/N tied the last of the heart-shaped balloons before securing them to a nearby tree. Cedric was pacing around, wildly muttering under his breath.
“Will you relax?” The Slytherin girl piped up, rolling her eyes. “You’re making me feel nervous.”
“I can’t help it.” Cedric replied. Of course, nobody could help but feel anxious around Cho Chang. She was beautiful and smart and kind. Y/N had talked to her a few times, and if she were a guy or lesbian, Cho would be her crush too.
“Well, that’s the last of the balloons. Good luck, Ced. I’ll be nearby if you need help. Just don’t expect me to hug you if she rejects you.” Y/N playfully punched her friend’s shoulder. Cedric boyishly grinned and quickly embraced her.
For a moment, Y/N was speechless. She slowly hugged him back and awkwardly patted him. She could smell his expensive cologne and it almost felt Cedric was confessing to her instead.
Y/N was the first to pull away. She wished Cedric luck once more before hurrying off, her heart pounding in her chest. She felt envious of Cho. Y/N had been by Cedric’s side since day one. She had comforted him and supported him and hid her breaking heart when Cedric admitted to liking Cho the first time.
And now it was all happening again.
Y/N hid behind a tree just in time to see Cho walk out of Hogwarts and make a beeline for Cedric. She watched as they conversed and when Cedric showed Cho the necklace, she jumped with joy.
Y/N let out a small sigh. She pressed her lips into a thin line, accepting that she wasn’t the girl Cedric would ever go for. She wondered that if they weren’t childhood friends, would Cedric still be nice to her?
She was a Slytherin. A somewhat mean one with a soft spot for certain people. She started too many fights to count, and the threat of expulsion was always hanging over her head.
She wasn’t Cho Chang, who was pretty like the starry night shining above the calm ocean. Cho Chang was kind, sweet, and loving.
Cho Chang was Cindy Lou and Y/N was the Grinch with no room in her heart to change.
The next time Y/N saw Cedric, he was by Cho’s side. Y/N usually sat at the Hufflepuff table with Cedric, much to some people’s dismay, but today Cho was with him.
Y/N didn’t feel welcomed at that point so she sat with her friends, completely missing the way Cedric gazed over at her in confusion.
“Ah, Cedric Diggory and Cho Chang. Everybody’s favorite couple has finally reunited.” Ivy, a pale-skinned girl with light freckles lining her cheeks and soft silver hair grimaced as she sarcastically spoke.
“It’s a shame you never dated Diggory, Y/N. You guys were perfect together.” Hime sighed as she poured herself a cup of pumpkin juice. She offered to fill Y/N’s glass as well, but the H/C-haired girl declined.
“Boys are always stupid.” Evan, short for Evangeline, piped up. “He doesn’t know what he’s missing. I agree with Hime. He should’ve gone for Y/N.”
Y/N silently ate as she listened to her friends complain about Cedric, probably in an attempt to make her feel better.
“Has anybody noticed how he keeps looking over here?” Hime questioned, whispering quietly. “Chang never seems to have his attention for long.”
“I’m telling you, Diggory secretly likes Y/N but he’s scared she’ll reject him. So he’s playing it safe and going for an ex who he knows he had chemistry with.” Ivy retorted, sparing another glance at Cedric.
Y/N huffed in amusement. “Where did you come up with that?” She spoke for the first time.
“It’s obvious.” Evan backed up Ivy’s theory. “When he wins a Quidditch game, who does he run to? You. When he needs help with homework, who does he find? You. When he wants to go to Hogsmeade, who does he immediately ask?”
Evan arched an eyebrow while Y/N sighed.
“Me.”
“Exactly!”
“It’s a plausible theory.” Hime uttered. “You two have been friends for ages. He’s close friends with Hermione Granger too, but does he hug her and look at her like he does to you?”
“That’s probably because she’s younger and he doesn’t want to end up with a sentence.”
“Good point. What about Floral over there?” Hime nodded over at the Ravenclaw girl who was always arranging flowers or reading about them. Her name wasn’t Floral but everyone called her that and it stuck. “You three are all friends, right?”
“More like I was forced to befriend her, but sure.”
“Diggory doesn’t look at her the way he looks at you.”
“And how does he look at me?”
Ivy slammed her hands on the table, looking like she had been waiting years for this question. “He looks at you like Jack Dawson looks at Rose. He looks at you like Chuck Bass looks at Blair Waldorf. He looks at you like Luke looks at Lorelei. Like Morticia and Gomez, Bella and Edward, uh.. give me another one!”
“Percy and Annabeth?” Evan suggested.
“Yes! That’s how he looks at you. He’s giving you the I wouldn’t want anybody else by my side look. He’s probably just… confused. You’re like his Cindy Lou Who. You make him happy and you bring out the best in him.”
“Cindy Lou is bright, bubbly, and extraordinary… she’s everything I’m not.” Y/N gestured over to Cho, who was giggling with Cedric. “Cho Chang is more like Cindy Lou.”
“Cindy Lou Who has a nice ring to it.” Evan said, off topic.
Y/N nodded in agreement. “It does. The rhyme is satisfying.”
“Enough about language features! You have to get your man back, Y/N.” Ivy intensely stared at Y/N, determined to get Cedric and her together.
“He was never mine to begin with.”
“Then make him yours! Come on, Y/N, you’re beautiful- no. Gorgeous. And sure, you have a bitter side but guys who can’t deal getting a little burnt aren’t worth it. And I know that you burnt Diggory over and over again, with both your anger and literal fire.”
“Just so we’re clear, the fire thing was an accident. And I don’t want to force anything onto Cedric. I’ll just… go with the flow.” Y/N ate the last of her food and stood up, “I need to wrap presents. Don’t you dare try and sneak in to see your’s.”
Y/N was mainly referring to Ivy, who lifted her hands in surrender.
Again, Y/N failed to notice how Cedric’s eyes trailed to her. But Cho saw it.
“Cedric.” The raven-haired beautify tugged on his sleeve, “Can we talk?” She spared Cedric’s friends a look. “Alone?”
“Uh, yeah, sure.”
The pair walked off, fully aware of how Y/N’s friends were watching them closely.
“What did you want to talk about?” Cedric questioned, tilting his head to the side.
“I don’t want to assume anything, Cedric. But to me, it seems like you only confessed to me again to play it safe. I can tell that your true feelings don’t lie with me.” Cho glanced at Y/N, who exited a nearby bathroom and was too busy drying her hands to notice the couple. “They lie with her.”
Cedric followed Cho’s gaze, softly staring at Y/N with that damned look of adoration.
“I think someone else deserves this necklace.” Cho gently removed the jewellery, handing it over to Cedric. “Face it, you love her. You always have. You can’t try to love me, Cedric, not when Y/N exists.”
“She doesn’t like me back.” Cedric muttered, grasping the necklace.
“Are you sure?” Cho quirked an eyebrow. “Why do you think she stayed by your side for so long? Even when the other Slytherins teased her, even when you two argued, even when you kissed me in front of her. How could you not notice, Cedric? She brings you drinks after quidditch practice and buys you gifts and even stays at Hogwarts so you aren’t lonely. Why do you think she never dated anybody, Cedric? It’s because you were the one she wanted.”
Cedric shook his head. “No. She doesn’t like me. Y/N is smart and amazing and cunning. I’m not her type. Her type would be someone like…” He paused, thinking, “Matteo Riddle.”
Cho sighed as she shook her head. “You really have no idea, do you? Spend more time with Y/N and hopefully you’ll notice the things the rest of us do.”
She quietly walked off, leaving Cedric standing outside the Great Hall. Cho made an immediate beeline for Ivy, Evan, and Hime and sat in Y/N’s spot.
The trio clad in green glanced at her, confused and a little hostile.
“Cedric likes Y/N.” Cho quickly uttered so the group didn’t explode on her. “I got through to him but he thinks Y/N doesn’t like him back.”
“Thats bullshit. It’s so obvious!” Ivy groaned.
“Exactly.” Evan agreed, “But Y/N doesn’t think Cedric likes her either.”
Cho sighed. “It’s obvious they have mutual feelings but neither of them believe it. So, let’s force them to confess.”
Hime raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you like Cedric? Why are you willing to help us?”
“Despite our dating history, Cedric is still my friend. And I want to help him in any way I can.” Cho smiled.
“Oh, I have an idea!” Ivy exclaimed, “What if we get them under the mistletoe? But instead, they have to fight! We can call it mistlefoe!”
Cho, Hime, and Evan exchanged looks.
“I think we should just stick to mistletoe.” Cho uttered. “We could, uh, surprise them by decorating one of their common rooms? The Slytherin room is never decorated, right?”
“I wish it was.” Evan sighed, “It’s a cute idea. We could surprise Y/N by decorating the common room and then led her in and Cedric can be standing in the middle of the room under the mistletoe.”
“But to pull that off, we’ll need more help.” Hime added, “I don’t think four people can do that. And it’s only us in the Slytherin common room. Not even Matteo is here. So he can’t help.”
Cho glanced past Hime and Ivy, staring at the Golden Trio and their extended group of friends. She smiled. “I have an idea. But it’s going to involve working with Gryffindors.”
The group of Slytherins all glanced at each other before they shrugged in unison.
“Anything for Y/N.”
“Whatever.”
“Do I get to kiss Oliver Wood after Diggory and Y/N kiss?”
Cho, Evan, and Hime stared at Ivy, who only cheekily grinned.
“Um… I’m not sure about that last one. Let’s just start off with asking the Gryffindors first.” Cho sheepishly smiled.
“Ivy and I will get the decorations.” Hime offered, “There’s some extra ones in the basement if Hogwarts too. Evan, Chang, you can get those after you ask the Gryffindors.”
“Call me Cho.” The ravenette smiled before she stood up. “We don’t have much time. Let’s hurry.”
“Wait, we forgot something.” Ivy piped up, “Who’s going to distract Y/N?”
“Evan can distract L/N. I’ll ask the Gryffindors myself and if they accept, they can help me get the decorations from the basement.”
“Okay.” Hime looked around, slowly nodding. She smiled. “Let’s go.”
Cho approached the red table while Hime and Ivy hurried towards Hogsmeade and Evan rushed off to find Y/N.
It took a few hours for everything to be set up, but finally the Slytherin room was decorated and ready.
“I need to get something. I’ll be back.” Evan smiled, lying through her teeth. She watched as Y/N entered the Slytherin common room and rushed off to find her friends.
Y/N squinted her eyes as she walked into the dark room. “Huh? Ivy? Hime? You here? What did you do to the lights?” Nobody answered her. She tilted her head to the side, confused.
The lights suddenly turned on, along with multiple Christmas LED lights. She quietly gasped as she stared at the tinsel covered stairs and brightly decorated tree.
In all her years at Hogwarts, the common room had never been decorated. Slytherins weren’t exactly big on Christmas.
Y/N looked around, realizing she wasn’t alone. “Cedric?” She stared at the brunette boy. “What are you doing here? Have you seen Ivy or Hime? I can’t seem to find them anywhere.”
Cedric silently looked up. Y/N, puzzled, followed his gaze. She lifted her head, staring up at the floating mistletoe above her head. “Oh.” She whispered.
She looked at Cedric again, jumping when he was only a foot away.
“I’m sorry if I ever hurt you, Y/N.” He uttered, “I should’ve noticed.”
“Noticed what?”
Cedric didn’t say anything as he leaned forward to softly kiss her. Y/N froze, her heart almost leaping out of her chest.
“Y/N,” Cedric pulled away and brushed a strand of loose hair aside, “You’ll always be my Cindy Lou.”

Jealousy, Jealousy
Warnings- Enemies to Lovers, Jealous!Theodore, Hufflepuff!Reader, Secret Dating, Google Translated Italian.
Pairing- Theodore Nott x Hufflepuff!Reader
Summary- For as long as Theo has known y/n they have vowed to be enemies. It was only natural given their house status and friend groups. If word ever got out that the two were romantically involved their friends would go mental. That’s why behind the mask of their undying hatred towards each other they found ways to constantly be alone. This fake act however, seemed to be getting old. The longer it went the more Y/n ceased to care. With Theo urging it to continuing she decides to give him a taste of what he will be missing out on if he let their relationship go public. Will they get caught by their friend group? Will this all come crashing down in the long run?
The eruption of voices in the great hall felt millions of miles away as all of Y/n’s focus yearned to be on one person in particular. Someone who had yet to enter the great hall and satisfy her urges to see him. The voices of Y/n’s friends seemed to be ignored until the volume in which they spoke gradually increased. That was until one in particular seemed to rip Y/n from her thoughts.
“Y/n?.. are you attending or what? You’re the only one yet to answer?” Hannah’s voice questioned staring at her dazed friend who seemed wrapped up in thought.
“Attending what?..” Y/n’s response was soft but laced with confusion earning a few giggles from the group. “The party tonight? Slytherins are hosting one in their common room and decided to invite the other houses. Are you coming with us?” She questioned making Y/n shrug. “I don’t know, the Slytherins don’t seem to fond of us.. are you sure this isn’t some set up?” Hannah just shrugs lamely to the question. “Whatever I might go.. if I can find something to wear..” y/n trails off as her eyes return to scanning the crowd of students.
“I’m going to head back to the dorm.. get me if you have any updates.” Y/n directs Hannah making her nod as she bids farewell to her friend. Y/n’s smile quickly fading as she leaves the group. It didn’t help that the first thing she saw was the very man she had been looking for talking to Daphne Greengrass. Y/n’s brows furrowed into a glare that Theo faintly caught as she exited The Great Hall.
Y/n would give everything for the two of them to be public. She knew her friends would disapprove but if they were truly her friends they would learn to accept him. Theo never seemed to grasp that reasoning as his friends were more hardheaded than Y/n’s. Seeing him with Greengrass made Y/n realize that maybe he was ashamed of her. Why be with a Hufflepuff when there are so many pureblood Slytherins girls roaming the campus. Her mind seemed to betray her as those thoughts swarmed her head. In order to find some escape she made an impromptu turn into the library to help ease the thoughts away.
“What’s with the look?..” She slowed to a stop refusing to turn to him. Not when her mind was heading in the direction it was. “I didn’t give you a look.. I’m just not feeling well Nott.” She could almost feel him cringe at the formal tone to her voice. “Don’t call me that. You don’t call me that unless we are around people.. what’s wrong?.” She finally gave in turning to Theo himself. His face showing clear signs of confusion and worry that almost made her feel bad for him.
“Time and Time again you dismiss of me. I know your reasoning but I can’t help but think there is more to it. I’m not a Pureblooded Slytherin like your friends date. I’m an outlier.. I can’t help but think you’re ashamed of me.” Theo’s eyes falter into shock as she comes clean about her thoughts. “I’m not ashamed of you.” “Then why do you hide me.? If your reasoning is that your friends don’t approve then that there tells me your ashamed by how they would see you with me. I’m done hiding Theo.. especially when I see you talking to those girls so openly not caring what anyone thinks.” His lips form a thin line as he is at a loss for words. “Exactly.. I’m attending the party tonight. If you really care about our relationship you can prove it to me there.. if not then… then this is over between us..” the ultimatum made Theos heart feel as if it was beating at unhealthy speeds. He watched her exit the library with glossy eyes making him feel even worse.
She had spent forever staring into the depths of her closet trying to find the perfect outfit for the occasion. If Theo didn’t approach her she would go to someone else. In order for that tactic to work she was in search for one dress in particular that made her confidence soar whenever she wore it. She grabs her wand waving it to where the dress would reveal itself amongst the piles of clothing. It represented her house showing that even if Theo couldn’t accept her she wasn’t going to give in and change herself.
After putting on the dress she fixed up her hair making herself completely presentable to what she believed to be perfect. All of this confidence seemed to vanish the moment she approached the opening to the Slytherin commons. Everything was silent and she couldn’t help but hate herself. Especially muttering the words that she used earlier to shame herself. “Pureblood..” it came out as a whisper but was enough to open the way into the commons. Th second she entered the silencing spell granted her permission to hear the booming music with voices hidden beneath it.
Almost immediately she made eye contact with Theo. His eyes held nothing but admiration and pain as he took in the full beauty of his girlfriend. Yet she showed no emotion when she rolled her eyes dismissively to go in search of her friends.
“Y/N!!! YOU CAME!!” Hannah cheered wrapping her arms around y/n’s neck pulling out the long awaited smile that she had been needing. “Seeing the common room filled with so many people is odd, it’s usually empty when I’m here!” Y/n points out making Hannah look confused. “You come here often? I didn’t think you knew any Slytherins like that?!” This makes Y/n’s face fall breaking her smile before it returns trying to keep up her act. “I had project with Astoria, she brought me to her dorm a couple of times!” Though it wasn’t a full lie it wasn’t what she was originally referring to.
Hannah’s smiling face turns into a scowl as she looks behind Y/n. She turns to see Theo approaching her. Her heartbeat increased as she kept an unreadable expression. “Nott. Come to bother me again eh?.. you seem to be good at shaming me, at a party is pretty low don’t you think?..” her question seemed to earn a tensing jaw from Theo as he took a breath.
“I know I’ve harmed you in the past.. I’ve come to.. apologize..” he says looking over at her friend who stood right beside Y/n protectively. “You look good..” his eyes showing every emotion possible leaving a stinging sensation in her heart.
Hannah noticed the way they both stared longingly into each others eyes almost hurtfully. “Always the charmer aren’t you Theo. A few words don’t fix everything you’ve done though. Try better I’m not someone you can try and use just because you feel bad.” Y/n walks away without letting Theo respond
“y/n wait.. shit..” he groans making Hannah look skeptical. “What do you want from her? You’re the last person to come up and try to make amends with her.” Hannah says earning a glare from Theo before an idea comes to his head. “I’m going to tell you this if you promise to help me.” He says making her look confused. “Why would I do that? You’re a horrible person.” He winces at the insult but looks at her pleading for help. “What?.. why are you looking at me like that.. fine what is it?..”
He looks around as his heart beats a million miles per hour. “Me and Y/n have been.. been um..” his chest seems to be heaving making Hannah look concerned. “I’m completely inlove with her and I’ve screwed up way too much.. I’m afraid I’m going to lose her and she wants me to prove it but I’m scared of how my friends are going to react but I care for her beyond belief.” He spits out completely shocking Hannah. “I’m lost, what?!” She asks making him look into her eyes showing how serious he is. “I’ve been dating her for about 6months.. this whole enemies thing is a lie.. now I think I’ve lost her and I need your help.”
Y/n had went up to Cedric Diggory not long after her interaction with Theo. “Why do you look so upset?” Diggory was a friend of Y/n’s despite the two being in different years. He was like a big brother to her which is exactly why she went up to him. “This guy.. I just need to get him off of my mind.. he acts like he wants me but never commits fully.. it’s driving me mad.” She admits leaving Cedric skeptical of who this could be about. “Give him an ultimatum to prove himself.” This makes her look even worse. “I have.. but I’m scared he won’t take it.”
“It’s his loss, anyone stupid enough to lose you isn’t worth your time of day let alone thoughts. He’s probably too absorbed in his thoughts to really see you for who you are.” This makes her smile letting her thoughts lift from her mind. “Plus you’re like perfect I’m sure any other guy would praise you.” This comment brings a laugh upon her lips as Cedric smiles down at her. She rests her head on his shoulder taking in a deep breath. “Thank you Cedric.. I needed that.” He gives her a soft smile.
This was until yet again a scowl formed on his face. She turns seeing Theo’s face glaring at Cedric holding everything back from punching his face. “Theo..dore Nott.. why are you following me. Let me breath you’re suffocating me with your presence please.. leave me alone!.. you’ve proven time and time again that I’m not worthy of your presence why torture me with it.” His expression softened when looking at her but quickly grew sour as Cedric placed his hands on her shoulders. “She wants you to leave so leave. No one asked you to be here.” Cedric says with a protective tone that instantly straightened Theo’s spine as he stepped forward. “Get your hands off of her.” This makes Diggory step infront of her challenging Theo’s demand. This action seemed to piss Theo off even more. “Who are you to order me around?..” he says stepping forward making Theo’s eyes show nothing but hate. Y/n started to intervene before the next words left Theo’s lips.
“Her boyfriend. Now back off.” This makes Cedric scoff. “Must be a piece of work if she’s coming to me to forget about you.” This sentence was the thing that broke Theo. His fist quickly met Cedric’s as a full out fight broke out. Mattheo and Draco quickly ran up pulling Theo off as some Hufflepuff beaters stepped in to help Cedric fight. Eventually the two got seperated but that didn’t stop their mouths. “Don’t ever fucking touch her again!!” “Learn how to make her happy and I wouldn’t have to protect her from you!!” “She’s my girlfriend not yours that’s my job!” “Then actually do it you’re not worth it if you don’t prove it!”
The party ended early as Y/n and Hannah stay behind with Mattheo, Draco, Enzo, and Blaise who were all working on calming Theo down. “Who was that even over anyway?? You went mental over some girl?” Mattheo questioned making Theo’s eyes train onto hers. Mattheo went to turn only to be pushed to the side by Y/n who approached Theo. “I’m sorry. I-”
A loud smack rang through the room as some of his friends quietly cursed. Her eyes seemed to be full of anger and sadness leaving him heartbroken. “You don’t get to do that Theo. That’s not what I meant by prove it you asshole!.. Cedric was helping me feel better because you are driving me mad with how idiotic you are!” He goes quiet looking around at his friends.
They all look surprised everything was quiet until Enzo spoke. “If that’s your girl damn..” Theo glares going to argue until Mattheo laughs. “That Hufflepuffs tougher than you bro.” All his friends seem to joke around none really bothered by the fact that the two were dating.
This only left Y/n staring at Theo who looked guilty. “See.. it was always just you..” Her voice wavered as tears threatened to spill. This makes everyone go quiet seeing the tension between the two. Hannah got them to leave the two alone in the commons to sort out whatever was happening. “Cara Mia I’m sorry.. I tried getting your friend to help me but by that time I saw Diggory and.. I lost it. I didn’t care what people thought of me I just wanted him away from you.. forgive me principessa. I’ll prove how sorry I am please..” he begged making her heart beat increase.
“You told Hannah?..” he slowly nods. “Practically begged her to help me.. after basically confessing my love over you she seemed to pity me enough to help.. I should’ve taken her advice and..” his excuse was cut short by y/n’s lips hushing him up. His hand moving up hesitating to touch the back of her head. Everything was so real she didn’t know she was crying until she pulled away.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell them sooner.. they’ve been my mates since I was little I was scared of losing them.. but I think I was more scared of how they would’ve treated you I didn’t think about how I was treating you.. ti amo tanto..” she gives him a small smile before pulling him into a hug. “I love you too.. I forgive you Theo.. I think I was just scared that you didn’t really want me as much as you promised.. which thinking about it now was stupid.. I’m sorry.” “Don’t apologize. That’s only for me to do.. please stay with me tonight.. I don’t want you leaving me for a second.” This makes her laugh earning a loving smile from Theo as he takes in all of her features. “I can’t believe I almost lost the prettiest girl in the world just because I was too stupid to realize everything I had.”

𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕓𝕒𝕕𝕘𝕖𝕣 𝕥𝕒𝕜𝕖𝕤 𝕔𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕠𝕗 𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕤𝕟𝕒𝕜𝕖
This was requested by @cosmicswan!
Ty Lovey for requesting I had fun writing this for you! I hope you like it and get better soon!
No warnings just fluff!
You were a mess; sitting at your desk with hundreds of papers and snot covered tissues littering the surface. It was the end of the year and the only thing on your mind for the past two weeks was to ace your O.W.LS., no matter how sick you were. You were wearing Cedric’s yellow jumper that you borrowed, stole, as the quill in your hand moved quickly, writing down answers as your eyes darted back and forth between textbooks and your notes. Occasionally your work would cease to wipe your nose or hack out a cough.
Then there was a polite knock on your dorm’s door.
You jumped, your brain snapping out of your extremely focused world. You huffed and rubbed your temple.
“What?” you groaned, a not so friendly tone in your voice as you were irritated that someone would interrupt you.
Then your boyfriends head poked through the door.
“Hey darling, what are you doing?” Cedric queried, slipping into your dorm and walking over to you perched at your desk.
“O.W.L.S.” was all that you grumbled, sticking your face back into your book.
“Ah,” Cedric replied, placing a hand on your head and bending down to face you. “And why would you be doing that instead of being in bed? You’re obviously sick.”
You swatted his hand away and shook your head.
“Nuh uh,” you muttered, dipping your quill in your ink. “I’m not sick.”
Cedric sighed and sat on your bed. He knew you were most likely the most ambitious Slytherin to had ever graced the halls of Hogwarts. But he knew he was just as patient and persausive as you were stubborn.
“I know for a fact that you are sick,” Cedric said in a calm and assertive voice.
“Yeah hmm and why’s that?” You said airily, not looking up from your work.
“Remember yesterday you tried to stifle those little coughs for the entirety of Snape’s class yesterday?”
You stopped writing for a moment, sideyeing him for a split second as you remembered.
It was in the middle of one of Snape’s lectures and had you coughed. Cedric had slowly turned his head to meet your gaze, a knowing look plastered on his face. In response you scowled and looked down, continuing to hastily scribble down the rest of your notes.
“No,” you answered flatly.
Cedric scoffed and shook his head with a dry smile.
“You don’t remember?” he said with an amused tone.
“I’m not sick!” you insisted, running your hands through your hair in frustration before flipping another page of your textbook. He grabbed your wrist to stop you from taking your quill again.
“You need rest,” he said firmly, spinning your chair around and placing both hands on the arm rests, sticking his face infront of yours. “And I made sure of it.”
“Yuh huh, and how exactly?” you challenged, crossing your arms and looking up at him defiantly.
“I told Madam Pomfrey,”
Your mouth dropped and you tried to find the words. This was unfathomable.
“No. No!,” you wheedled, a look of surprise and anger on your face.
“Yes,” Cedric said sternly.
“You can’t just do that! Your not in charge of me!” you exclaimed, trying to stand up from your chair but he grabbed you by your waist kept you sat.
“Oh darling but that’s where your wrong. I am.” he said sternly, running his thumb over your lower lip.
You went speechless for a second. You were not expecting this.
“I am prefect after all,” he said smugly, smirking at you while you sat open mouthed and visibly taken aback.
“You dick!” you retorted, running your hands down your face. “I need to be in classes tomorrow!”
“What you need to be, is in bed!” Cedric pressed, his eyes piercing into yours as he became more authoritative.
“I… you!” you fumbled, grasping for the words but he had you.
You sunk into your chair anc crossed you arms, feeling completely dominated. Though you were irritated he knew you loved it when he took charge.
“Can’t I study in my bed at least?” you prompted, grabbing for your papers.
“No,” he said simply, his large hand snatching them from your grasp.
“But! Hey-”
You were cut off, Cedric kissing you firmly. You instantly stopped and let him, not knowing what else to do.
“What was that for?” you asked in bewilderment.
“To shut you up,” he stated.
“I’m gonna get you sick!”
“Hah! So you admit! You are sick!” he said triumphantly.
You tried to defend yourself but you started coughing, not being able to say anything else and suddenly he scooped you up and plopped you into your bed, but you couldn’t even protest so you accepted your fate.
He tucked you into your bed and felt your forehead.
“God, darling your burning up,” he said quietly, sitting down on your bed next to you and kissing the top of your head.
“I’m cold though,” you mumbled.
“Here,” he replied, pulling out his wand and pointing it to the other side of your dorm where your fireplace was. "Incendio.”
A fire shot up instantly and the heat started flowing in your direction.
“Better angel?” Cedric caressed your cheek and kissed your forehead.
You nodded and reluctantly leaned into his touch. You didn’t want to admit it but you indeed did feel better, but you didn’t want to give him the satisfaction.
“You need to drink alot of water. Stay hydrated,” He informed, grabbing a water bottle from your schoolbag and putting it in your hand.
“But-”
“Drink,” he demanded.
You sighed, knowing you had no choice. You drank as much as you could and handed it back to him.
“That’s a good girl,” he whispered, rubbing you arm and kissing your lips. “Now you’re going to sleep you hear?”
“Only if you stay,” you said in a quiet voice.
“Of course I will sweetheart,” He chuckled and kissed you again. “And is that my jumper?”
You looked down at the soft yellow sweater that was so big on you, you were pretty much swimming in it.
“No.”
Cedric smiled and stroked your hair.
“Last time I checked, Slytherins wore green.”
You rolled your eyes and laid back a bit more, looking down at the carpet.
“I’m not tired,” you complained.
“Don’t you worry, you will be soon.”
You huffed but stayed quiet for a few seconds.
“I feel guilty for not studying. I should be studying!” you moaned, hiding your face in your pillow.
“Oh hush, darling your work isn’t going anywhere! I’ll get you some hot tea and that will put you to sleep yeah?” He whispered, running his hands through your hair.
You nodded and he pulled the blankets over you carefully.
“Now, I’ll be quick as possible. I won’t leave you again until your better.”
Cedric kissed your head and strolled out your door to the kitchens.
He came back in a matter of minutes, true to his word, holding a jug of hot water and some packets of chamomile tea, along with an armfull of other things he thought you needed. Tucked in his arm was all of your favorite candies, cans of soup, and other (probably useless but he thought you’d like it) items.
“Darling I’m back,” He announced softly, looking over at you.
But to his surprise, you were already dead asleep.

Tumblr media
Theodore Nott was really sweet at the beginning and during it but then…How a person can change so quickly and without a reason but maybe there was a reason.
Somehow I knew that me and him would end up close to each other but I never expected that we would end up that close. Theodore Nott and I were at the same house so it was obvious that we’re going to spend some time together.
At first it was always because of Mattheo who was even a bigger drinker than me so I usually went with them to Hogsmeade or Forbidden Forest. Mattheo gets to know me with Draco, Blaise, Lorenzo and Theodore. It's not that I didn't stand out and was quiet. As early as the first week of school, me and Mattheo got detention together. I just didn't think me and them would become friends. They were unapproachable and especially Draco, who had unexplained feelings about Pansy.
But here we are at Black Lake for the weekly Slytherin party. This time it wasn't a big deal because it was just our group but muggle alcohol could walk on water. We were sitting by the fire when Pansy and Draco decided to leave us for the Forbidden Forest.
“Have a nice conversation,” Blaise said, amused by the situation, to which Draco gave him a look.
“Leave them alone," I said, "There are no worse of them than unexplained feelings about each other.”
I felt Mattheo put his arm around my waist and hugged me tightly.
“Unexplained feelings you say.” He commented.
“Leave me alone Riddle, you're drunk.” I answered him.
Out of the corner of my eye I watched Nott whose jaw clenched. It was between us that there were unexplained feelings. It's not that Mattheo was infatuated with me, we just liked to flirt with each other and later he told me about more girls whose hearts he broke. He was good looking but Nott had something about him. Something that no one else had. Nott was also unfortunately very nonchalant and secretive but gave blunt signals.
“Why do you have to break my heart every time and even later I don't get a goodnight kiss?" he asked.
Before I had time to answer him Lorenzo threw up.
“Well, now it's time for you to give someone else your attention.” I said standing up and patting him on the back.
“He is also your friend.” He answered me.
“Yes but you are a strong man and it was your and Blaise's idea to drink.” I replied sitting down next to Theo.
I rested my head on his shoulder and we watched the others take Lorenzo, who was unable to get up. They had a hard way to go and an even harder crossing of the dormitory ahead of them.
When they disappeared from sight and Mattheo's cursing was not heard I knew I could ask Theo about his day.
“How was your day?” I asked.
“Good except for the fact that the girl which I adore ignored me all day, avoided me as much as possible and at the end of the day flirted with my friend and let him grope her.” he responded.
“You should be less nervous," I said, then gave him a kiss on the cheek.
I saw him tense up even more so I snatched the cigarette from his hand and took a decent drag. It was because of them that me and Nott became close to each other when on the Astrology Tower he was thinking that he’s not going to say sober and I couldn't sleep. Our first kiss was also thanks to cigarettes when I asked him for one and he did a shotgunning cigarette and then kissed me in the same place where we were now, exactly 7 months ago.
“Could you give it back already," he asked even though I knew he could pull out another one.
I looked at him and then sat on his lap and inhaled. I put my lips to his mouth and slowly blew cigarette smoke into his mouth. After a few seconds his hands were on my waist and our kiss seemed even more intimate. When we pulled away from each other, he pulled me closer and held me even tighter.
“Y/N will you be my girlfriend?” he asked.
“Theo, you know the answer.” I responded.
“After today I’m not sure,” he stated.
“Yes, I will be your girlfriend.” I said then I placed a gentle kiss on his lips.
Kissing with Nott has it that it never ends in one and is never just kissing. Before I knew it I was lying on the ground and he was above me playing with the hem of my skirt. I knew it wasn't the best idea but the alcohol I drank earlier gave me some courage. I didn't know if it was the alcohol that warmed me up or Theodore himself. The next thing I felt was his lips sucking on my neck and his hand going higher and higher on my thigh. When he unbuttoned my first button we heard the breaking of dry branches.
“Sorry, we didn't want to interrupt you," said Draco.
“Are you officially together now?” asked Nott.
“ I don’t know, are we.” said Draco then grabbed Pansy's hand tighter and walked away.
I think if it wasn't for those two me and Theo would have ended up the same way. Draco had his shirt unbuttoned and Pansy better not comment on that out of respect for our friendship.
“We'd better get back," I said, then quickly reached for a cigarette.
“Do we really have to?” my boyfriend asked me.
In response, I got up slightly to my feet and buttoned my button. Theo sighed then reached into his backpack.
“I have something for you, I know we haven't been together long but I'm sure I've been in love with you for a long time,” he said, pulling artificial flowers out of his backpack, “ Y/N I'm giving you these flowers because they will wilt only when I stop loving you.”
I felt my eyes glazing over so I just kissed him and took his hand.
“This is the best gift I ever got," I said as he pulled me closer to him.
Deftly snatched a cigarette from me after which he lit it. We walked like that through the night and it was perfect. Our beginnings were perfect too. I stopped being his secret and became his priority.
The next day I was talking to Pansy about what had happened between her and Draco in the common room, when I felt someone cover my eyes and place a light kiss on my shoulder.
“Guess who it is," he said.
I grabbed his hands tightly and turned around then placed a light kiss on his lips. I felt Pansy's gaze on me, which penetrated my soul and drilled a hole in me.
“After training I'm taking you on a date," he said, then disappeared as quickly as he appeared.
“So…” shouted Pansy.
I grabbed her hand then directed us to our room. We spent this time very productively and it was not without slurs under my name, because how could I not tell her. As Pansy was getting excited about the idea of double dates, someone knocked on the door. Standing in them was not only Nott with flowers but also Draco.
“We leave you alone," I said, "Don't forget to put some spells on the door.”
I left with Theo and this was accompanied by a quiet thumping sound when Pansy threw her shoe at the door.
When I entered the room it was well after midnight and I found Draco and Pansy there in one bed. I knew they were pretending to sleep. As I walked away, I just threw a quiet slur and left the room.
As I walked in silence to the men's section, I quietly knocked. The shirtless Theodore opened it for me.
“You already missed me," he asked piteously.
“I preferred not to hear two people having sex a few meters away from me," I replied and then went into the room.
“Thank you for inviting me in and letting me sleep," said Nott ironically.
“I can always go to Matteo's to sleep," I replied and then went to the closet to put on something more comfortable to sleep in.
I felt that the atmosphere in the room thickened but I tried to ignore his gaze. When I went to bed, Nott was still standing in the same place. I knew he wouldn't go in if I didn't give him some attentiveness. I got up and walked over to him. I put my arms around his neck and started kissing him. However, he still stood unmoved.
“Even in a million years, me and him will never be together," I said and then pulled him toward the bed.
I knew it would work so a moment later my head was leaning against his bare chest. With my finger I was drawing stamps on his shoulder. It was quiet but peaceful. I knew he didn't like to talk much so I was filling in the silence for him. However, today the silence was different. It was a peace that he obtained because deep down he was afraid that I would actually end up with Mattheo.
I don't even know when Snape's lessons turned into a lesson of sending me notes instead of me and Mattheo getting detention. Theodore always made sure I didn't drink too much because I had no moderation. He always made me feel better. Weekly dates turned into twice a week dates, often double dates. He always moved me from the couch to my room. When I got too drunk with Pansy I would fall asleep there. I always went to his games and made sure he went to his lessons. I often found flowers or small gifts from him. We rarely argued and it was perfect. He was not selfish in bed. It was really wonderful.
The warm summer day was giving out. The Snape chamber in the basement seemed like a dreamy nightmare when the Slytherin got extra classes. I sat bored fighting my sleep and ignoring the taunts of Mattheo, who had recently become insistent. He couldn't understand that now I couldn't spend as much time alone with him. When being awake was almost impossible, I got a note.
We’re sneaking out. NOW!!!
Before I had time to react, I was pushed out the back door.
“We are going to be fucked” I said.
“Tought,”replied Nott pulling me behind him.
We didn't have to wait long for the consequences of this escape. All seven of us were called back the same day. Snape swapped us in pairs for a project we were to hand in by the end of the semester. I felt that me and Mattheo would get the worst pair, and I wasn't wrong. Mattheo got Ron Weasley, and I got Cedric. Fucking Cedric, with whom I used to have something in common. It wasn't the other but it was awkward afterwards.
I didn't even have to look at my boyfriend to know what he looked like. After the reprimand, we left the room. The mood was no longer the same as before.
“Anyone fancy a drink," Pansy asked. However, she didn't need to know the answer, because everyone knew where they were going.
While the party was going on at its best, I went to get another drink. When I returned, Theo was smoking a cigarette again. I sat down next to him on the ground, and he put his arm around me. I could feel him tense up so I quickly took a drink. It warmed me up from the inside and I guess that's what I needed.
“Teddy, I can always do this project myself," I said.
In response, I felt him squeeze me tighter. When he smoked a cigarette, he picked me up and began to lead me into the woods. When we finished, the party had long since ended.
“Are you sure everything is fine?” I asked.
Yes, I'm just afraid that what used to be between you two will come back. It's not that I don't trust you, I just." Before he finished talking I just hugged him.
For the first two weeks everything was the same, the only thing that changed was his need to be near me and my touch. However, later we stopped going on dates and he stopped talking. Later he spoke less but needed more and more touch. Later he just kept his hand on my thigh and rejected every other form of closeness. One day he didn't come at all. Since that day I haven't seen him and when I did it was always drunk. He avoided me and everyone else however he remained faithful to me. I tried my best to reach out to him until I gave up because I knew he would be at the party at the end of every project we had.
As I slipped through the empty castle, I didn't know if I could hear my beating heart more or the feeling walking behind me. Walking like this however, I hoped he would be there. When I got there, I didn't see him so I went to Mattheo, who was making drinks as usual. After a few drinks, I fired up a cigarette and took Mattheo aside.
“Do you think he has another?” I asked and inhaled my cigarette.
“No, believe me he was in love with you before he got to know you.” he answered me.
“Do you think he stopped loving me?” I asked.
“No, I already told you that he loves you more than anyone.” he answered me.
“Do you know what happened to him?” I asked again.
“If I knew, everything would have been fine long ago?” he answered me.
Before I had time to ask another question, we heard screams. We quickly bolted from our seats. The only thing I saw was the moment when Draco with Blais pulled Theodore away from Cedric. I quickly approached them but when he saw me he started to pull away and go to the front.
No one was paying attention to Nott, but to Cedric. I started to run towards him, however he did not give up. When we had gone far away I knew that this was the only opportunity to talk to him
“Theodre Nott what the fuck is your problem!”I shouted, but he ignored me.
So I ran up and pulled him by the hand so that he stopped. He stopped and turned towards me. For the first time I saw his eyes, so black and full of pain. Although maybe it was hatred.I’m not sure.
“Burn these flowers,” he said quite quietly.
“Talk to me," I said, although my heart had already managed to shatter into tiny pieces.
“Burn these fucking flowers,” he said, then snatched his hand and just start walking without even looking at me.
I stood like that, in the dark night, and a light wind blew on my back. I could do nothing but cry, and while I was crying like that, Mattheo found me. He hugged me tightly and sat with me all night while I alternated between crying and drinking.
Deep down I prayed that these flowers would burn on their own, because I couldn't do it.

"3…2..1.. DIVE!"
cedric diggory x fem mermaid reader
Tumblr media
- use of y/n, reader is in slytherin AND IS A MERMAIDDD, reader is independent, cedric is your cheesy lover, triwizard cup (2nd task) drama, you almost being caught as a mermaid
warnings: nothing
i write quick stories, but dis one felt a tiny lil longer than usual so enjoy😋
-
the bell rang. you were so glad to be out of ms trelawneys lesson. she was such an oaf, with her ''ooohh i see potentional murder ahead!" or her 'aahh i see much death in your future!'. like, honestly!
not that trelawneys sayings would've been a surprise; half-blood mermaids were very rare and often seen as demons. and funny enough, you were one of them.
you made your way down the stairs to study in the library.you avoided pansy parkinson and her little group, as they always put themselves in drama and you were never up for that.
once arrived, you yanked about 5 books from a shelf and then seated yourself at a table next to a big window.
you began reading. first book, second book, third book-
ding!
19.00.
you closed the books quickly, put them back and then rushed so fast out of the library, making people turn their heads.you went upstairs, third floor, to the prefects bathroom, then muttered something that sounded like 'pine-fresh' and the painting swept forwards and you quickly stepped in.
there was nobody, as expected, except for the mermaid on the painting onto the wall. you waved politely and she waved back excitedly, looking as if she had missed you really much. you undressed, leaving yourself completely naked, then stepped into the pool.
after what felt like 10 minutes you felt your body heat up, your toes clench really hard, and your breathing quickened. the double eyelids formed onto your face.
what used to be your legs had now shaped into a long dark green, grey-ish shiny tail. your skin turned a little grey too, and your nails extended in length. your iris had become bloodred of colour, and your black pupils dilated until there was just a thin red line around the black dot. you sighed as all the changes finished, and relaxed.
about 50 seconds later, you heard the prefects bathroom opening open. it was him.
you looked up, hoping it was him and not someone else. the painting creaked and there you saw the tall, fit, brunette figure walk through.
"cedric." you whispered in happiness. he smiled at you before sprinting and hastily jumping into the pool.
you squeaked. "cedric!" he laughed, shaking the water off his hair and swam towards you. "well, hello beautiful." he smirked, eyeing your sea creature body. your breasts were practically naked, except for the shell symbols spread around your areola.
"ced. your clothes are wet." you said sarcastically, staring up into his eyes while his arm rests around your shoulder.
"doesn't matter, love. how've you been? mind helping me with the triwizard cup? i think it has something to do with, you know, your kind. i heard sirens when i opened that egg. anyways, i hope they wo-"
you admired him as he kept talking about the upcoming triwizard task. you were so lucky to have him, he never judged you on being a mermaid. of course, he's also the only one that knows about it.
your deadly- (but oddly attractive to cedric) -eyes were caught by cedric as he finished the topic. he stared at you, and if looks could kill, you'd definitely been dead. you leaned your body onto him, resting your head on his shoulder.
"i don't know what i would do without you, cedric." you spoke softly. cedric chuckled.
"well, luckily that's something you don't ever have to worry about."
"promise?" you whispered, stroking his arm with your dainty hands.
"promise."
the mermaid in the painting clasped her hands onto her mouth, and her watery eyes blinked dramatically. she wiped them with a piece of seaweed.
cedrics hand that wasn't at your shoulder, trailed down your tail and felt at the texture.
he was mesmerized. he'd seen your mermaid self once before, from afar. now that he sees it up close, it's so much prettier.
you smiled softly, exhausted from reading so long before. you glanced at the mermaid, who winked back at you.
"i love you." cedric suddenly said, what made you turn your head immediately.
"i love you, cedric" you said back, not breaking eyecontact.
"good. fish babies!" he joked.
you giggled and sat yourself sideways onto his lap. your tail flicked up and down in excitement, making the water splash. cedric grinned at your actions. then you locked lips with him, drowning in his taste.
if only this moment would never end.
-
[CEDRICS POV)
it was the day of the second task. i was really nervous, but i prepared my bubble charm so everything should be fine.
bagman went on and on about this and that. to be fair, i wasn't listening. i was watching the lake before me, swinging my arms unpatiently.
"okay, enough chit-chatting! now, are we ready, best contestants?"
bloody right i was ready.
"3...2..1.. DIVE!"
an enormous splash erupted from the lake, onto the murmuring crowd. i swam and swam all the way down, trying to find what i was searching for. i didn't know exactly what. i just knew it would be guarded by mermen.
many minutes passed, and i saw 4 vague figures. i swam a little closer, and saw the four figures clearer. they were all tied up, cornered by merpeople.
one of them was a girl with rather bushy hair, next to her a boy with hair so red it looked like fire was burning in the lake, and next to him was a little girl, and right next to her was-
oh no. this couldn't be.
i frowned my eyebrows and my mouth dropped in fear. y/n.
the fact that it was y/n tied up, wasn't the worst thing. it was that her tail showed. a mermaid transformation took about 10 minutes, right? so whoever put her here must have done it quick! or else she would've been killed by them already.. if anyone up there sees she is a mermaid, things could get disgusting.
i examined her unconscious face, searching for any wounds. it was rather hard, curse the bubble charm for blurring my view.
i grabbed a knife i brought just in case from my pocket, and cut the ropes around her wrists. i carried her heavy figure up the water fast, as i felt like time was running out. our heads popped out, and y/ns eyes opened slowly. the first thing she saw was my face. then she looked around, very confused. she saw the water floating around her, and it looked like she was about to faint.
-
[YOUR POV]
what? what is going on? you felt fear, anger, and confusion rise up within you. please let this be a nightmare, you thought.
a soaked cedric with a bubble around his head was looking at you, worryingly. when you wanted to say something, but it came out as a whimper, he shushed you. "shh, it's okay, leave everything up to me right now, okay?" he whispered.
"and we have our first contestant up! cedric diggory!". the gryffindors, hufflepuffs, ravenclaws and a few beauxbatons cheered loudly. some looked confused at your slightly new appearance; your grey skin & red eyes weren't hidden. cedric tried to hide you from the crowd.
he grinned at them so nobody would find it off, and then swam to dumbledore with you, both of your bodies underwater, except for your heads.
"sir, she- she's.." cedric tried to make up an excuse to make sure your body stayed beneath the surface. you looked at him, terrified.
dumbledore smiled. "it's okay, boy. i'm not stupid, you know. show her to me."
cedric hesitated, but you nodded, after all, he was the headmaster. what choice did cedric or you have?
you shyly turned around, horrified to see his reaction, but dumbledore kept his same expression. "ah. and so i was right." he said, his eyes twinkling.
you frowned your eyebrows in surprise, looked at cedric, and saw that he was doing the same. "your bubble still functions well, i'm assuming? 2 hours they work, yes?"dumbledore said.
"uuh, yes, sir." cedric said. "turn around, dive, go north, then west, you'll find a cave, go through there and leave the rest up to me."
you and cedric looked at eachother in both relief and confusion, then cedric nodded.-you swam forward, cedric holding onto your hand. a smile crept up your face, as he struggled to keep up with you.
"keep up, tough boy." you mouthed, feeling a little less worried then before.he just chuckled nervously at you. the moment of it was almost romantic, if to ignore the context. you felt a sense of joy, being in your other home, together with someone you wanna spend your entire life with.
hopefully, the next task would be a lot less terrifying.
-
⋇⋆✦⋆⋇

𖤐One Kiss and A Quidditch Match — Chapter 1: Destiny's Invitation𖤐
Tumblr media
Prologue (recommended to read)
Pair: Cedric Diggory x Male Slytherin Reader
Word count: 3.1K words
Summary of the book: You and Cedric Diggory hate each other. It has always been this way. But everything changes one night when you kiss each other at a party. Now, it seems you can’t escape each other — from being partnered up in Herbology for an important project to having to help Cedric during the Triwizard Tournament.
Summary of the chapter: It's the first day. You and your four closest friends have Defence Against the Dark Arts first thing, but you meet the teacher even before class starts and he surprises you with information you didn't realised he had. After first period, you and your group get a surprise invitation to a party.
Notes: This is my first Cedric fanfic so please forgive me for any OOC moments. Please comment anything I should change to improve this. Also, this first chapter will mainly focus on your friends, but there is an interaction with Cedric. Additionally, I am not British so I am not 100% sure how to correctly write people from the UK.
Content warning: There are a couple curse words in this chapter, but they are not too frequent. I may also write a few sexual scenes in later chapters if people request it.
!PLEASE DO NOT REPOST ANYWHERE WITHOUT PERMISSION OR CREDITS TO ME!
...
“Just a few more days and I’ll be old enough to participate in the Triwizard Tournament. Fuck, (Name), I kinda pity you for being born in March,” one of your close friends, Alistair Campbell, ranted about his latest obsession, small pieces of chewed toast flying out of his mouth.
“Don't talk when you eat, Cambell,” another one of your friends, Elsie Wilson, gagged, removing her Slytherin cloak and draping it over the chair to your left. She sat down in an almost royal manner, carefully smoothing her skirt.
Alistair leaned across you to get close to Elsie, chewing, mouth open, intentionally being noisy, and spitting bits of mushy toast onto her lap. Elsie gasped and got back up, wiping the bread off her skirt with a napkin and a disgusted look on her porcelain face.
“It’s the first bloody day of school, Alistair. Calm down.” You pushed your cackling friend back into his chair, wondering how the hell girls were attracted to a moron like himself.
You had to agree Alistair was a looker with his curly hair dyed bright red — faded to burgundy from many Quidditch practices under the rain and days during the break where he went swimming — strong, square jaw, and flawless brown skin, but it didn’t excuse his rude behaviour.
Whenever he walked anywhere with you and the rest of your clique, girls would ogle at his pretty face and muscles, giggling and sometimes latching onto his brawny biceps, attempting to start a casual conversation. If they were smart, they would notice he wasn’t interested and walk away. If they weren't — which was most of the time — one of you had to ask them to leave.
“Blimey, Elsie! I didn’t notice you were here,” Alistair’s twin sister, Winnie, said from the other side of her brother, brushing her frizzy black hair out of her guileless eyes with a toothy grin.
Winnie spent most of her day zoning out during class or lying face-down on her bed to think about whatever she was currently obsessed with. So, one of you had to help her rush through homework or revise using your notes.
Elsie smiled painfully, sitting back down with an irked expression, “Hey, Winnie.”
You glanced around, “Wasn’t Brian supposed to come down with you?” You asked, eyebrows furrowed.
“He’s skipping breakfast,” she sighed. “He insisted on studying for our Defence Against the Dark Arts class — Mary, could you pass me the bacon?—and when I mean insisted, I mean insisted.” Elsie emphasised as she scraped the platter full of bacon on her plate.
“Of course he is,” said Alistair, waving his fork around like a wand.
Brian Ashmore was the final person to complete your friend group of five. Quiet and studious, he was, like you, a Half-Blood. Lucky for the both of you, no one in the school apart from a few close friends and some teachers knew about it, so you two fit right in with the Purebloods in your house. But it also made people see you as just another stereotypical Slytherin.
After finishing your breakfast, you and your friends left the dining hall.
“Should we go find Brian or should we go to class without him?” asked Winnie. She twisted one of her black locks around her finger and skipped along next to Elsie.
Alistair waved his hand. “We all know that nerd won’t be late. Can’t be missing out on slobbering over the new DADA teachers and getting good grades,” he mocked in a pestering voice, causing you to roll your eyes in exasperation.
“Merlin’s beard, Campbell, you are such an ass.” Elsie shoved him.
“Aww, you’re so grumpy without your boyfriend,” he jeered.
You slid in between them to dissipate the argument before it escalated any further. One of your least favourite things in school was whenever those two idiots argued. Alistair always found a way to get under Elsie’s skin, and it seemed as if you were the peacekeeper of the group. Winnie usually wasn’t paying attention, and Brian didn’t care enough to solve any argument.
“Do you know what the new professor will be like?” you asked your Pureblood friends to ease the air around them, adjusting your book bag so it didn’t fall off your shoulder. “I heard he is an Auror, but that’s all I know without assuming based on looks.”
That seemed to do the trick because Alistair nodded with interest, “Yes. He’s called Mad-Eye Moody. From what I heard from Pa, he’s a rather crazy old bloke.”
Mr. Campbell was a professional auror and rather famous with a knack for violence. While Winnie aspired to be as recognised as her father in the same field of work, Alistair’s dream was to soar in the air and be a famous Quidditch Beater.
"Well, it’s unfortunate that you both share a name, then.” Elsie commented, obviously still peeved from your friend’s previous comment, “If we try to refer to the “insane Alistair”, people won’t be sure which one we’re talking about.”
“Wait what?” He stopped walking.
Elsie flashed him a quick smirk, “You didn’t know? Mad-Eye isn’t his first name, you eejit. You’re both called Alistair.”
“And all of you will be late if you keep stopping in the middle of the hallway,” a gruff voice said behind them.
You turned to be faced with a savage-looking man roughly the same height as you, with a balding head of greasy ginger hair. He had one normal-looking eye while the other was electrical blue, rolling around as if scanning his surroundings. His wrinkly, squashed face reminded you of a mean pitbull.
“And it’s Alastor Moody, young Miss,” he pointed a thick finger at Elsie, who recoiled in embarrassment and mild fear. “Not that’s any of your business; you’ll be calling me Professor.”
“Sorry, Professor, it’s just playful teasing; my friends didn’t mean anything,” you jumped in as you gripped your bag’s brown strap, noting how you were the only one of your friends who wasn’t too affected by his odd appearance. You remember your parents raising you to never judge people based on looks.
The man leaned closer, seeing you eye-to-eye, “Hmm, you look familiar, Lassie. What’s your name?”
“(Name) (Surname), Professor.”
Moody barked a laugh, a sudden sound that caused you to flinch in surprise. “That’s why you look so familiar. I knew your mother, (Mom’s Name) (Maiden Name). It was unfortunate a brilliant witch like herself married a man like your father.”
You looked away at the mention of your Muggle father. It wasn’t the fact that he wasn’t a wizard that bothered you. Well yes, it was, but what frightened you was what the school would do if they found out. Many Purebloods were discriminatory towards any wix with Muggle ancestry, and being known as a Half-Blood or Muggleborn would greatly affect how students saw you. That was why you and Brian only informed people you were close to about your parentage.
You remembered, at first, Alistair was rather rankled after being revealed that information, but quickly got over it. You were aware that many others wouldn’t be so merciless.
But Mad-Eye Moody didn’t elaborate, only holding eye contact with you for a couple of seconds until he turned to walk around your group with a clickety-clack of something inanimate hitting the floor. Did this already odd man have a peg leg?
Winnie waited until he rounded a corner to speak, “He’s a little weird.”
Alistair shuddered. “He gave me chills. It’s so eerie how he just sneaked up on us out of nowhere.” He glanced towards you. “I also find it strange how he knew who you were, (Name).”
You were still turned to face where Moody disappeared. A peculiar smile stretched across your face.
“This is gonna be a good year.”
“What was that madman talking about? Late? We’re practically the first ones!” Elsie growled when you and your clique entered the spacious classroom.
“You have an unpleasant habit of insulting teachers, Elsie. One day, it’ll get you in real trouble.”
Mad-Eye Moody was nowhere to be seen, but behind a desk at the front of the classroom stood a boy with slicked-back hair streaked with a big slash of grey across the brown. He was twirling a quill; grey eyes focused on the object so you could see him from his side profile. His tired, unsmiling face turned to look at you and you spotted the burn scar covering the bottom half of his left side.
“Briaaannnn,” Winnie whined, dramatically swaying to the scar-faced teenager and enveloping him in a warm, Winnie-coded hug. “You need to eat! It’s unhealthy to be skipping breakfast.”
Brian Ashmore set the pen on a nearby desk and patted her head softly, bored eyes now focused on her form. Silence was his only response.
A mutter of voices came from the entrance behind you. It must have been five boys — four voices you didn’t recognise, one that you were very very familiar with.
“Excuse me, could you please move out of the doorway?”
You turned around to be met by Cedric Diggory’s striking grey eyes. He stood, one book tucked under his arm, slightly ahead of his friends. His sweet smile slowly faded as he realised who he was talking to.
You eyed one another, and he and your friends fell silent watching the interaction.
“Of course, I just had to share my favourite class with Diggory,” you thought. “I forgot we had Defence Against the Dark Arts with the Hufflepuffs this year. Don’t we also have Herbology together?” You felt slightly ticked off that you shared most of Hufflepuff’s favourite class with Cedric and the 6th year of his house. If only the schedule was similar to last year, and Snape’s class was the one you had with him. At least there, you could flaunt your skills with flamboyance.
You saw a muscle tick in Cedric’s square jaw as he forced a polite smile, “Sorry, (Surname), I neglected to simplify my words so you could understand the point I am trying to make.” A couple of his friends snickered. He opened his mouth to continue speaking, but you cut him off.
“I find that wouldn’t be necessary; a prodigy like myself can comprehend simple Hufflepuff dialect,” you responded as calmly as possible, keeping yourself from punching his stupid face.
Cedric let out a sarcastic laugh. “Of course, I forgot that you defined smart as using a couple pretty words in your sentences.”
Your face contorted into a snarl, “Oh really? How’s your Exceeding Expectations in Potions doing, Diggory?” You practically spat at him, teeth bared and hands on your hips. You rolled your shoulder back to prevent your bag from slipping, keeping your aggressive attitude.
Cedric’s nostrils flared, and you knew you hit a nerve.
But he didn’t do anything. Instead, he shoved past you to the desk at the second row furthest from the door. His friends followed suit, settling in a couple of seats near him.
You smirked triumphantly, walking over to Winnie and Brian with Elsie and Alistair confidently strutting behind you. You honestly found it rather funny how your group was sometimes more passionate about your and Cedric’s bickering than either of you.
You placed your bookbag at the desk closest to the door and chatted with your friends, waiting as students slowly filtered into the class and filled in the spots left.
Finally, as Alistair was recounting one of his dates with his girlfriend over the summer break — Elsie looked peeved, while Brian emphasised his surprise at how long their relationship was lasting — you saw the rough-looking professor limp through the door, his peg leg tapping against the wooden floor.
All of your classmates’ conversations halted at the sight of the strange man. They already saw him at the Great Feast yesterday, but they couldn’t help but stare, your friends included.
The students who weren’t seated settled into their desks. Alistair pulled back the chair to your right, the girls were at the desk directly to your right, and Brian was behind them, one of his and Cedric’s mutual friends, Leslie Westmore, to his right.
Professor Moody hobbled to the front of the class.
“Right then,” he said, “I’ve had a letter from Professor Lupin telling me of the subjects you’ve learned from last year. Seems you’ve covered rather interesting creatures — Merfolk, Basilisks, a bit of Dragons, and Phoenixes, ain’t that right?”
A murmur of agreement rippled through the students, and you nodded, mildly interested.
“A bit disappointing that you didn’t finish the unit on Dragons, but what you know right now is alright. But you are behind — very behind — with dealing with Dark Curses. Now, Dumbledore believes that you are old enough to study these curses only in 6th year, but I disagree. It’s never too early to learn about them. If you’d be in 3rd or 2nd year, lacking understanding would be acceptable. But you are already in 6th year, and having no knowledge of the Dark Arts — the real Dark Arts — is very very unfortunate.”
Brian raised his hand but didn’t wait to be called on to speak, “Actually, sir, Professor Lupin informed us quite a bit on the subject of the Dark Arts — specifically the Unforgivable Curses.”
“Is that so?” Professor Moody stared directly at him with his normal eye, his prosthetic one zooming around the room, before settling down on two girls at the back, “You need to put those candies away, Miss Armstrong and Miss Hilton; my classroom is not a restaurant.”
The girls blushed and frantically put their candy back in their bags, eyes downcast with embarrassment. You felt remorse towards them, but not enough to be distracted from the lesson.
Moody continued without skipping a beat, “With that new information, I think I know where to start this lesson. Alright, everybody knows what the Imperius Curse does, yes?” After a short second with hesitant nods of approval from the students, he continued, “Good, because today you will learn how to resist it.”
By the end of the first period, a red-faced Brian, a distracted Winnie, a sore Alistair, a smug-looking Elsie, and a sympathetic you walked out of Professor Moody’s classroom.
After a couple of paces, Brian shoved his face into his hands and let out a dejected groan. You placed your hand on his shoulder, gently petting his deltoids, a solicitous smile on your lips as you tried to comfort him.
“Hey, it’s not that bad.”
He took his head out of his hand, and you saw his cheeks were rose-red. “Well, you weren’t the one who played Princess Fairy in front of the whole class, Mr. Perfect.” He sighed miserably, “One word goes around the school, I’ll be ruined!”
“Oh please,” Alistair jumped in with a hand massaging his coccyx, “I’d much rather do that than have to sit out for a single Quidditch practice because of a butt injury of all things. Blimey, he’s truly a madman…”
Next to him, you could hear Winnie humming as if she had never eaten that spider not even twenty minutes prior. Even the thought of doing the same nauseated you, so seeing your friend looking serene made you question her morality.
Elsie shrugged, joining the conversation, "Well, at least everyone else in the class had to go through a similar experience as us, so if they are daft enough to mess with you, you could just blackmail them.” It was nice that Elsie acted sympathetic towards Alistair, but you suspected she was actually talking to Brian.
“Funny. The two only students who managed to break from the curse are comforting us,” huffed Brian.
Elsie gave him a confident half-smirk and raised her eyebrows while you shrugged with a chuckle, tugging on your bag’s straps.
“Puddings!”
The four of you engaged in the conversation halted, and you grabbed Winnie’s arm so she didn’t wander off. This snapped her back into reality, and you turned your heads to face the direction of the noise.
A pretty girl with honey-brown eyes and wavy, blond hair tied into a low ponytail ran up to your group.
You saw Alistair’s pained smile turn into his typical, white-toothed grin when she wrapped her skinny arms around his torso. She was over a head shorter than him, so she buried her face into his chest with a sing-song sigh.
Once she pulled away, Elsie eyed her repeatedly, “What do you want, White?”
The pretty blonde — a popular Pureblood Hufflepuff named Destiny White — frowned at Elsie’s cold comment, “You shouldn’t be so mean, Elsie, aren’t we friends? We don’t treat friends like that.” She paused momentarily before giving her a slightly satirical smile, “Or maybe Slytherin girls are just rude like that.”
Elsie narrowed her eyes, but when Brian touched her shoulder, she held her condescending tongue. As much as you disliked Elsie’s outbursts, you agreed that Destiny was a reasonable person to yell at.
Destiny turned back to a haughty-looking Alistair, handing him a paper envelope, “Anyways, the Weasley twins are hosting a little get-together for all the students 16 and up. We’re meeting up at 11 PM tonight in front of the Gryffindor common room so they can let us in.”
“Why would they host a party in a common room?” You inquired, confused, “Wouldn’t it wake up the younger kids?”
Destiny let out a little giggle, “The party isn’t in the common room, silly. I’d tell you the location, but that’s a little secret, and we don’t want the professors to overhear.” She lowered her voice as she spoke, “All the info is in the invitation.”
“Are we invited?” Winnie spoke up from behind you. She eyed the envelope her brother held in his hand with piqued interest.
“Of course,” Destiny stuck her hand into her pocket to retrieve four other letters, handing them to your group. Elsie was the only one who hesitated before begrudgingly plucking it from Destiny’s hand.
Brian eyed his envelope suspiciously, “How did you get so many?”
“Fred and George want my help since I’m friends with tons of people here!”
“Thanks, Babe,” Alistair smirked, leaning down to peck her cheek, and Destiny giggled. “We’ll be there.”
They shared a quick kiss on the lips, and Destiny slowly backed away, waving her hand, “I hope to see all of you at the party,” she spun around before stopping and turning her head, eyeing Elsie with a cheeky expression, “Even those who might ruin it.”
Immediately after she was out of earshot, Elsie hissed at Alistair, red-faced with vexation, “Leave her; she’s a bitch.”
Alistair laughed, “No way. One of the perks of dating her is the way she always manages to piss you off.” He elbowed her arm playfully before advancing to his next class, too ignorant to notice the faint blush spreading across Elsie’s cheeks.
...
Thank you for reading, please comment any suggestions you have or any issues I should fix. Like I said in a Tumblr post, I will only post on Thursdays at 12 AM BST. I may post every week or every two weeks, I don't really know. It depends how long I take. For those who are interested, here's how I imagined Winnie would look like.

“Blaise, move your big arse away from my comfy spot.”
You had a tiring day of classes, and wanted nothing more than to just relax for the rest of the night. You had gone back to the Slytherin common room to hopefully see some of your friends and just wind down for the night.
Everyone in Slytherin knew there was one special spot on the lounge couch that was reserved for you. You had spent countless hours and dozens of nights in that exact spot either studying or just hanging out with friends. That was your spot, and when you came into the common room, everyone knew to make way for it.
Blaise chuckled and raised his hands in surrender. “Sorry, (Y/N), didn’t realize you’d be back so early.”
“Early?” You exclaimed as you jumped into your spot. “I’ve been busting my butt all morning for these stupid exams. I’m exhausted.”
Pansy groaned from her spot on the floor. “Why don’t you just cut yourself a break once in a while? It’s no fun when my best friend is too busy for, like, anything anymore.”
You frowned. “I’m not too busy for you! I’m here now, aren’t I?” You grabbed a blanket from the stockpile you kept in the common room, and wrapped yourself tight in it.
Pansy rolled her eyes with a smile. “Yeah, yeah. You’re just in time to hear about the latest shit with Emma.”
Pansy had a wild grudge against this poor Hufflepuff girl who didn’t even know that Pansy was beefing with her. It was quite funny, honestly, but you loved Pansy enough to let her moan on about what annoying thing Emma does everyday.
“Oh goody.” Draco came out from the stairwell into the common room with a roll of his eyes. “Another go round of how insufferable you think that Hufflepuff is.”
He glanced over to see you cocooned in your blanket and let out a soft laugh. Draco took his seat next to you and laid his arm over the back of the couch behind you.
Draco intrigued you. Over the last year, the two of you had grown quite close. You considered Draco a good friend, but you would be lying to yourself if you said you didn’t wish it were more. Draco was kind. He was flirtatious and charming, but he was sweet and gentle with you as well. Sometimes you thought Draco may have feelings for you in return, but you were far too scared to confront him about it.
“Well, for starters, we already know how much of a know it all she is, but for some reason she has to showboat just how smart she is. You’d think she was a Ravenclaw what with how obsessed she is with being correct.” Pansy said.
Blaise started to respond to her squawking when Draco shifted closer to you. Blaise’s voice drifted away as you focused your attention to Draco.
“You alright, Dray?” You asked.
He smiled slightly. “Yeah, just trying to get comfortable. Salazar knows Pansy will be talking about this nonsense for hours.”
Draco dropped his arm from the back of the couch to wrap around your shoulder and pull you into him. You could feel your heart beating out of your chest, silently hoping Draco couldn’t feel the intensity of it.
You tried to hide the grin threatening to break out on your lips as you snuggled closer to his chest. This was definitely a first for you guys. Though you and Draco had been quite flirty, he’d never been so open with his physical touch before.
“Then she had the nerve to choose me as her partner. Like I would ever consider her!” Pansy glanced over at you and did a double take when she saw you wrapped up in Draco. Her eyes grew slightly, but she averted them with a clear of her throat as to not make it obvious.
“And then, she had the audacity-“
“She really is quite obsessed with this hufflepuff, huh?” Draco whispered to you, quiet enough for Pansy not to hear.
You looked up at him. His face was so close to yours, your noses were practically touching. You bit your lip as a smile threatened your face.
“Yeah,” you whispered back as you stared into his eyes. “Leave her be though, it keeps her entertained.”
Draco chucked, his minty breath hitting your face due to your close proximity. Your own breath caught in your throat. You hadn’t realized just how close you were to him. You could feel your stomach doing cartwheels as you took in all of his glorious features up close. The glimmer in his eyes, the point of his nose, the curve of his lips.
“I didn’t see you earlier,” Draco shifted the conversation, pulling your gaze from his lips back to his eyes. “What were you doing all day, busy bee?”
You blushed at the nickname. “I was just in the library writing up essays and study guides for our finals.” You let out a yawn, the reminder of your morning making you realize just how exhausted you were.
“Sleepy?” Draco murmured in your ear.
You nodded your head with a mumbled ‘yes’, then rested your head on his shoulder. Draco wrapped his arm tight around your waist, pulling you as close to him as possible. With his other hand, he softly combed his fingers through your hair.
You hummed as you closed your eyes. “You’re comfy,” you sleepily mumbled.
Draco chuckled. His fingers brushed against your cheeks every once in a while as he gently continued combing through your hair.
As you felt yourself falling asleep, you could hear Draco shushing Pansy and Blaise to ensure they didn't wake you.
✰  ✰  ✰
The next morning you wake in your bed, unsure of how you got there. You must have gone up sometime in the night and just not remembered.
With a shrug, you stood up and stretched your arms over your head. Pansy was snoring in the bed next to you. You tiptoed over to her and gently shook her awake.
“Pansy,” you called as you shook her some more. “Come on, babe, time to wake up.”
She just grumbled and swatted your hand from her shoulder. You huffed. Pansy was terrible in the mornings, and for some reason unknown to you, she didn’t believe in alarm clocks so you got stuck waking her up every morning.
A mischievous idea came to mind, and with a smirk you jumped on top of her sleeping body.
“Ahh!” She shouted as you frantically shook her awake.
“It’s wake up time, Pans! We’ve got to get ready for our charms exam this fine, beautiful morning.” You said with a laugh.
Pansy sat up and pushed you off of her so you laid on the bed instead. “Geez,” she grinned as she rubbed at her sleepy eyes. “Who knew a night with Draco would make you so chipper this morning.”
You sat upright in crisscross as your smile fell. “Wait, what?”
You had spent the night with Draco? But that didn’t make sense, you woke up by yourself in your own bed. Plus, you would have remembered if something had happened between the two of you.
Pansy saw your confused expression and chuckled. She grabbed a pillow and gently swatted you in the face with it. “Not like that, you silly. Salazar knows if you slept with Draco you’d have probably died of happiness.”
“Hey!” You whined as a blush started creeping on your cheeks. “I’m not that crazy for him.”
“Oh, please,” Pansy scoffed with a slight smile. “I saw the way you cuddled up with him last night. I almost had a heart attack for you when I saw how close you were! Go (Y/N), go (Y/N)!” She cheered.
You laughed and pushed Pansy away from you. “Shut up!” Your giggles died down as you recalled how you laid with him last night. “Was it really that obvious?”
“Girl please! I thought Draco was gonna scoop you up and run away with you. You should have seen the look on his face when you fell asleep on him. He looked at you like you hung the damn stars in the sky.”
Your heart fluttered. You knew there was something going on with you and Draco, but by the way Pansy was talking, though she had a knack for exaggeration, it sounded like he really did have a thing for you.
“So, what do I do now?” You asked as you slightly rocked back and forth on her bed.
“Are you joking?” Pansy deadpanned at you. “(Y/N/N), you gotta go get your man! I’m tired of watching you two drool like little puppies over each other just for nothing to come out of it.”
Your cheeks flushed. It had been a long time of this back and forth with Draco, and you decided you were ready to see where it got you.
“Okay, I’m gonna tell him next time I see him.” You said.
Pansy cheered. “Yes, finally! Now hurry up, I’ll help you pick a cute outfit that has ‘date me’ written all over it.”
You chuckled as Pansy eagerly jumped up and ran to your closet. She grabbed your shortest skirt, a white button up top, and your Slytherin robes.
“Pans, how is this any different than my usual outfit?” You asked as you stood from the bed and joined her near the closet.
“Ah, my sweet (Y/N), it’s not about the clothes you wear, but how you wear them.” She grinned as she threw the clothes into your hands. “Put them on so I can work my magic.”
You chuckled and stripped out of your pajamas to put on your school outfit. Turning back to Pansy, you said, “Okay, now what?”
She devilishly grinned. Pansy pulled your skirt even higher up your legs to expose just a bit more of the skin there. She unbuttoned the top two buttons of your shirt and fixed your boobs so they popped out a little bit more. She wrapped the robe around your shoulders, but let the front open so you could see everything underneath.
“And no tie,” she added, “that way your shirt can stay that way.”
You chuckled. “You get me into all these crazy shenanigans, you know that right?”
“You know you love me.”
“Yeah,” you added wearily, “but what if it’s too much? I mean, we still have to go to class. It’s not like I'm only going to see Draco.”
“Who cares?” Pansy asked as she started to dress herself in a similar manner. “Let the other boys stare and show Draco that you’re a hottie who other boys can get at if he decides he’s gonna be a wuss today.”
You laughed. Pansy always knew just how to make you feel better. “Alright, let’s get out there, then. Don’t wanna keep all the boys waiting.” You winked at her.
Pansy smirked and wrapped her arm with yours. You walked out together and down to your first class that you shared.
Luckily for you, Draco did not share the same period for charms as you. You thought if Draco was in the class you would have surely failed your final.
You felt pretty confident in your answers, and soon enough class was dismissed.
Your heart beat out of your chest as you said your goodbyes to Pansy and walked to your next class: one you shared with Draco.
Nervously, you picked at your clothes as you walked to potions. On your way there, you couldn’t help but notice all of the random students staring at you. Boys, and girls, sneaked peaks at you as you walked past them.
It felt nice to be noticed, you just hoped Draco would react in a similar way.
Speak of the devil.
There Draco stood in all his glory. He leaned against the wall outside of the potions room looking you up and down. Draco’s lip was trapped between his teeth and he sized you up.
“Bloody hell, (Y/N).” Draco mumbled, just loud enough for you to hear over your rapidly-beating heart.
Draco pushed himself off the wall and started walking towards you, meeting you halfway. He didn’t say anything. All he could do was stare. Draco knew you were gorgeous; he’d be a bloody fool to not have noticed it before, but there was something about the way you looked that made his head spin.
While he shouldn’t say it, Draco had always imagined how you would look after he’d had his way with you. He didn’t ever want to seem like a creep, you were too sweet for that, but that just made him more curious.
In all honesty, he didn’t know you had this in you.
“Uh, Draco?” You asked. Draco had zoned out as he stared at you. You could feel your cheeks getting warm and you took in how awestruck he looked.
“Hm?” He glanced back up into your eyes. “Sorry, sweetheart, you just- you just look incredible. Well, you look gorgeous everyday, just you look gorgeous and sexy if that makes sense.”
You raised an eyebrow almost teasingly. “Oh, so you think I look sexy now, huh?” You don’t know where this newfound confidence came from, but you liked the way Draco’s eyes widened as you crossed your arms over your chest, pushing your boobs out ever so slightly.
Once he recovered, a smirk adorned his handsome face. “I always think you look sexy, now I'm just seeing it in person rather than my dreams. And speaking of dreams,” Draco grinned devilishly, “how did you sleep last night, darling?”
You had almost forgotten about the confusion of the night. “I slept well. I think.” You chuckled as you pushed a piece of hair behind your ear. “I don’t exactly remember getting to bed, though. Care to enlighten me?”
Draco chuckled, “You fell asleep, quite adorably I might add, and I as the gentleman I am had the privilege of carrying you up the stairs and tucking you in for the night.”
You smiled, “how come you didn’t just wake me?”
Draco’s cheeks tinged pink. “I, uh, I just knew how tired you were from your morning and I didn’t want to disturb you. Hope that was okay.” Draco rubbed the back of his neck a little awkwardly.
You grinned and reached up to squeeze his arm. “It was really sweet of you, Draco.”
The two of you stared at each other for a minute, the silence held some tension, it had some longing imbedded into it.
“Draco…”
“Do you want to go out sometime?” Draco cut you off.
You gaped at him. “Like a date?”
Draco smiled, “yeah, exactly a date. I knew I’ve liked you for a little while, (Y/N), but when you cuddled up against me last night, I had this thought that I wanted to do it again. And then again after that too. You held onto like you needed me, and, uh, I really liked that.”
Draco blushed a little at his confession and shuffled his feet around nervously.
You couldn’t help but grin and wrap your arms tight around his neck. Draco was a little taken aback by your quick movement, but surely sunk into your hug and wrapped his arms around your waist.
“I’d love to go out with you, Dray,” you whispered as you were pressed so close to him. “I’ve been hoping you would ask me out for a long time.”
Draco pulled away, but still held his hands on your waist. “Sorry for keeping you waiting so long, darling.”
You giggled and grabbed Draco’s hands to pull him towards the classroom. “Come on, Slughorn doesn’t wait for anyone and I need to do good on this exam.”
Draco chuckled and let you pull him along to class. He couldn’t wait to finally take you out on a date.

you need him? i could be him
mattheo riddle x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why you should break up with your boyfriend (and get back with Mattheo)
When you and Mattheo broke up, it was civil, an agreement between you both that you were better off as friends, at least for the time being...
This all began when you started dating a French transfer student who was sorted into Hufflepuff—a choice that, in Mattheo's opinion, just wasn't right for you, for obvious reasons, of course.
1. You didn’t even know if you liked him
"Are you sure you like him?" Mattheo inquired, tilting his head while glancing over at the boy walking toward you. "Matty." you warn in a blank tone. He turned towards you, raising an eyebrow. "Don’t look at me like that. You do this every time I’m interested in someone." "Do what?" "Give me reasons not to, and I refuse to let you do it this time." The conversation ended abruptly as your new little transfer student made his way over, shooting a quick “hello” to Mattheo to be polite and asking to walk you to your next class. Mattheo just scoffed inwardly as the two of you walked away. He knows you, and he knew if you really liked frenchy, you wouldn’t care what he had to say.
2. The both of you had nothing in common
Yes, sometimes opposites do attract, but in Mattheo's opinion, the two of you just weren't an ideal match. You enjoyed small amounts of PDA, like hand-holding and quick pecks—simple gestures that brought you joy. However, your boyfriend despised any public displays of affection, creating a noticeable contrast between your preferences. While you excelled as a diligent student, you also relished in the thrill of partying, letting loose, and embracing moments of pure fun, a lifestyle that clashed with your boyfriend's more reserved nature.
"I don’t understand why you're so upset," you said, frustration evident in your voice. "I don’t understand you at all," your boyfriend replied, packing up his things and leaving your dorm room. All you did was ask to reschedule your weekly study date because you’d promised Pansy you’d go with her to Draco’s party. The two of you could study any other time. Expecting your boyfriend to be a little upset due to losing time spent with you, instead, he went on a tangent about how unserious you are about your academics and even mentioned he wasn’t sure how the two of you were even dating because of how “different” you were.
and Mattheo had to agree.
3. He was too jealous, for example
It was a generally nice day at Hogwarts. The school year was winding down, the weather was pleasant, and you were studying with your boyfriend in the courtyard, surrounded by books and snacks on a blanket. You glance up from your books upon hearing the familiar voices of your favorite Slytherin boys. Draco, Mattheo, Theo, and Blaise emerge from Quidditch practice, looking a bit worse for wear but in good spirits, teasing each other. Pansy follows behind them. Spotting you, they hurry over, eager to talk to you. Amidst laughter and half-finished stories, you learn that Mattheo narrowly avoided a bludger to the head in practice and fell off his broom while dodging it. "Matty, perhaps I could offer you a basic broom skills lesson. I've been assisting the first years, and I'd be happy to help you," you playfully tease.
He flips you off, but instead of responding to your teasing, he asks, "Where's your little boyfriend gone off to?" You scan the courtyard, puzzled by his absence. Unbeknownst to you, Mattheo had been observing closely. He noticed the immediate stiffening of your boyfriend's face when the group approached and the sneer he gave when you affectionately called him “Matty” in your normal, all too sweet tone. Eventually, Mattheo observed your boyfriend getting up and walking away, seemingly conceding to your friends.
4. He couldn’t compete with Mattheo
Everyone in your close circle recognized that Mattheo was the perfect match for you, and eventually, your boyfriend came to the same realization.
He observed the softness in your eyes when you looked at Mattheo, how you would relax upon hearing his voice, and the laughter-filled conversations that defined your interactions, with Mattheo always striving to keep you smiling. How you’d scold Draco for mockingly calling your boyfriend “frenchy” but when Mattheo did it, it would conveniently go unheard.
The final straw was witnessing how quickly you rushed to Mattheo's side after the two fought. As the Slytherin boy stood victorious over the fallen figure of your boyfriend, it was Mattheo's well-being that concerned you the most. While your boyfriend lay beaten on the ground, Mattheo's bruised knuckles seemed of little consequence, yet it was his welfare that captured your utmost attention.
Kneeling beside Mattheo, you overlooked the Slytherin boy's smirk, attentively inspecting his bruised knuckles with worry as he reassured you of his well-being, telling everyone involved where your loyalty resided—always with Mattheo.
Though unspoken it was unmistakably clear who your heart had long belonged to from the very beginning.
