Letters to G. Weasley. [g.w. x reader]
Tumblr media
Inspired by Letters to Milena.
You left me in that beautiful heap of dazzles and brilliance; your recalcitrance with your brother— just to send a message.
Do you know how I felt when I saw what you left in the sky on the morning of my NEWTS; your farewell to Hogwarts while we were all stuck under the authoritarian regime of that daft pink woman.
I was so, so, so devastated.
I spent my nights crying, you git. You didn't tell me you were leaving.
- Y/N, May 14, 1996.
***
Dear George,
I've come to peace with you after ignoring all your owls. Yes, I'm writing back to you. Yes, I've decided to address you, unlike my last letter, if you still have it.
Even though I dearly, passionately, and remarkably hate you; I still miss your voice.
I've graduated from Hogwarts and I'm joining the Ministry. Has your shop been doing well? Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, was it? Never mind that I'll get straight to the point. No more preamble.
I'd like to see you, if you'd wish to, of course. I've moved on from that undesirable spring.
I fully understand if you wish not to. You can be a man of deep-seated grudges, after all.
I'll leave it up to you, and I most favourably look forward to your reply.
Yours,
Y/N, June 21, 1997
***
George.
It's been a rough month. I know it's been tougher for you, too. Is your ear, or lack thereof, okay? From what I understand from your letter, you're currently hiding in Sirius Black's family's manor with The Order, and the Burrow's gone? I cannot fathom this.
The Dark Lord, Cedric's death in 6th year, I thought it was all a nightmare. Now it's very much real. Please, take care of yourself. It's been hectic here in the Ministry. I've been drinking Pepper-Up potions every two days just to feel alive.
Please, please, please, I cannot stress this enough, take care of yourself.
I love you.
Yours,
Y/N, August 2, 1997.
***
George.
Please, let me join The Order. I know I can handle it. I want to, I need to, join the battle against Voldemort. Let me help.
He took away everything we've loved dearly. It's only a matter of time until he strikes all of us down.
Please, reply as soon as you can.
I love you dearly.
Yours,
Y/N, August 14, 1997.
***
George Weasley.
With your lack of response, I'm going to assume you're not letting me join The Order. Or are you dead?
For the love of Merlin, let me in. I need to know you're okay. I spent nights thinking of the worst possible scenarios; what if you've all been found by Voldemort? What if I never get to see you again?
Please, at least reply. Even one single word. Anything, just to know you're alive.
I know the Ministry's hot on Potter's tail right now, so if you ever read this, please send my regards to him. I've seen the way Fudge hides away in his office. The man's out of his mind, rambling about how Voldemort isn't back.
Diagon Alley shut down. Ollivander's gone. Your shop's... Seen better days.
Oh, how I wish to go back to halcyon days. Reply, please.
I love you.
Yours,
Y/N, August 29, 1997.
***
My dearest, George,
As soon as Errol came swooping by my window, I got up, drank my milk, and wrote to you.
I understand why you won't let me join, it's dangerous. I understand completely. But please, don't leave me in the dark. It's been two months since I last saw you, don't you think I at least deserve to know what's happening?
Merlin, you lost an ear. You're just like that Muggle painter, don't you know? I don't want to lose you spiralling in the raging sea of war.
It isn't easy for anyone right now, and I understand you're just trying to get by. Apropos of your nightmares, I'll send you Dreamless Sleep potions by Owl soon. I've brewed them a few months prior because I, too, have been plagued with nightmares.
The world's in a dark place right now. Please, take care of yourself.
I love you.
Yours,
Y/N, September 2, 1997.
***
Dearest George,
Amidst the never-ending darkness, I got myself a cat. She's a chubby ginger tabby cat, and in the envelope is a picture of us together. I've recently taken up Muggle photography to get my mind off things; though Muggle cameras aren't as capable as magical cameras, they have this certain charm to them. They remind me a lot of you, actually.
The cat's still unnamed, so I'm leaving the task of naming her to you.
How are the potions? Are they helping? You didn't mention them in your letter, so I thought to ask you.
I miss you, dearly. Come home soon.
Yours,
Y/N, October 14, 1997.
***
George.
Please, for the love of fuck, tell me you're alive.
News of Death Eater attacks are all over the Prophet. I'm still safe and sound, but where are you?
Word is going around in the Ministry that a second wizarding war may break out any time soon.
Please.
Please.
Please.
Write back.
Y/N, April 29, 1998.
***
George.
I'm fighting in the war.
Wait for me, my love.
Yours,
Y/N, May 2, 1998

little bits of propaganda for claude rains!
-was good friends with bette davis! she called him her favorite male costar and they worked on four films together. also, she had a FAT crush on him and she visited a lot!
-speaking of where he lived, claude owned and worked on farms! he was proud to grow and cultivate land, often restoring and preserving whatever he could and loved the history behind things! he raised cattle, grew crops, and tilled the land himself
-is literally the wikepedia subject for the term 'character actor' - he said it himself on his versatility as an actor, saying "i can play the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker
-eleanor roosevelt saw him in 'darkness at noon' on broadway and personally praised him for his performances
-he served in ww1 and was gassed, resulting in 90% blindness in his right eye and damaged vocal chords - giving him his signature voice
-was nominated for 4! academy awards for best supporting actor and also won a tony for best leading actor in a play
-taught at the royal academy for dramatic art, teaching students like john gielgud and sir laurence olivier
-was cast in the invisible man soley on his voice, to quote director james whale, "i don't care what he looks like, i just want that voice!"
-depending on who you ask, he was the first actor to receive a million dollars for a role (as well as risking his life traveling overseas to england during ww2 for filming on 'caesar and cleopatra'
-claude probably worked with your favorite star! his list of co-stars was endless and included people such as bette davis, james stewart, humphrey bogart, paul henried, gloria stuart, basil rathbone, cedric hardwicke, errol flynn, cary grant, ingrid bergman, ronald reagan, and paul muni to name a few.
all in all, i'm pledging my vote for claude rains!!
Hi, thank you for the Claude Rains propaganda!
Friendly reminder to please try to keep things focused on actors TV careers as this is a TV focused competition. Sharing about an actors life is great but we like to steer things away from talk of their movie, theater, or music career and focus on what makes them a hot television star!

Joan Crawford and Lon Chaney in The Unknown (Tod Browning, 1927)
Cast: Lon Chaney, Joan Crawford, Norman Kerry, Nick De Ruiz, John George, Frank Lanning. Screenplay: Tod Browning, Waldemar Young, based on a novel by Mary Roberts Rinehart; titles: Joseph Farnham. Cinematography: Merritt B. Gerstad. Art direction: Richard Day, Cedric Gibbons. Film editing: Harry Reynolds, Errol Taggart.
One of the kinkier movies in the Lon Chaney filmography, The Unknown betrays its pre-Code nature very early. It's set in a circus where we see women in the audience ogling a performance by the strong man, Malabar (Norman Kerry). But the mother of one of the oglers, sitting across the aisle, hisses at her son to "go home and take off that dress." Chaney plays Alonzo, whose knife-throwing act involves his lovely assistant, Nanon (Joan Crawford), the daughter of the money-grubbing Zanzi (Nick De Ruiz), owner of the circus. What makes Nanon's job more perilous is that Alonzo throws the knives with his feet, being armless. Eventually Alonzo's attraction to Nanon will involve murder, dismemberment, and a love triangle in which Alonzo almost tears his rival, Malabar, to pieces. Chaney's gift for physical transformation reaches a new peak in the movie, which requires him to do everything from throwing knives to drinking from a teacup with his toes. In fact, although Chaney learned to do many of these things, some of the actions were performed by his body double, Paul Desmuke, who was in fact armless. Careful camera manipulation kept Chaney's upper body in the frame as Desmuke actually lit cigarettes and threw knives with his feet. The Unknown was one of Crawford's earliest featured performances, in a role that MGM originally wanted Greta Garbo to play. She's still a little raw as an actress, but her presence outshines that of her leading man, Kerry, whose career fizzled as hers ignited. The Unknown, one of eight movies director Tod Browning made with Chaney, lacks the sympathy for the physically divergent of Browning's most notorious film, Freaks (1932), although Alonzo's dwarf assistant, Cojo (John George), sometimes serves as the moral corrective to Alonzo's schemes.

Little Lord Fountleroy book review
Tumblr media
⭐⭐⭐/5
The Little Lord Fauntleroy" is a classic novel written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, it's a heartwarming story that follows the journey of the young protagonist, Cedric Errol.
Set in the late 19th century, the novel takes us on a delightful adventure as we witness Cedric's transformation from an ordinary boy to a charming and noble character. With his innocent nature and kind heart, Cedric quickly becomes beloved by everyone he encounters.
What I liked about this story is its timeless themes of love, family, and friendship. Through Cedric's experiences, we are reminded of the power of compassion and how it can bridge gaps between people from different walks of life.
I liked how Burnett made little Ceddie polite and well mannered from the beginning of the story which made him more of a role model for children at that time, yet I wish if she made him somewhat like Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden to make the Earl's mission of making him a noble man challenging.
But despite all the things I liked I have to mention what I didn't like about the story:‌
Ceddie's mom was either called Mrs.Error by everyone or Dearst by Ced, but we never got to know her first name.‌ I hated how weak she was when a strange man showed up at their home and delivered to her the Earl's message, I expected a bit of fight or struggle from a mother who might lose her child to the man who didn't show her or his son any respect.
The only conflict there was when the other Lord Fountleroy and his mother appeared which all happened at the second half of the story, if it wasn't a short read I would have stopped reading long before that.
I didn't like how Burnett wrote the American dialect. I'm not sure if it's just me or this is just old English but it was hard to read.‌
I had one question when I finished reading: was this book about little Ceddie or his grandfather? Because once the other lord's drama started the story became all about the Earl and how he changed from the arrogant resentful selfish behaviour and how he grew affection towards Cedric, It was satisfying to read at the time but it just switched the protagonist title from the little Lord.
Overall, "The Little Lord Fauntleroy" is a beautifully written novel that offers both entertainment and valuable life lessons. It continues to resonate with readers of all ages, reminding us of the enduring power of storytelling, I'd still give it 3 stars and recommend it to Victorian era lovers.

O's Thump Twins 12-3.
Orioles 12 Twins 3 W-Kremer (1-0) L-Lopez (0-1)
The Minnesota Twins rallied late to tie the Phillies yesterday afternoon. They remained at home and hosted the Orioles today in Fort Myers. The Twins quickly loaded the bases in the first inning and Christian Vazquez hit a sacrifice fly to left to start the scoring. Baltimore answered in the second when Austin Hays led-off with a double to right. The next batter, Ramon Urias smacked a Pablo Lopez offering out to left-center for a two-run homer. This put the O's up 2-1 after two frames. Baltimore added on in the third as Cedric Mullins singled and Ryan O'Hearn walked. With two outs, Ramon Urias lined a run-scoring single to right to extend the Orioles lead. Jordan Westburg plated a run with a base hit of his own. Colton Cowser followed with a blast off a Michael Boyle pitch for a three-run home run. This put Baltimore up 7-1 in a blink of an eye. The Orioles started the fourth with three straight singles. With one out, Austin Hays hit a sac fly to center to put Baltimore up 8-1. The Orioles quickly loaded the bases in the seventh. Michael Perez plated a pair with a single and Coby Mayo doubled home another run. The rout was on as the Orioles extended their lead to ten. The Twins found some life in the bottom of the seventh. Jake Rucker smacked a Luis Gonzalez offering out to left-center for a solo homer. The Orioles got that run back as Errol Robinson lined a single to center. Daniel Johnson doubled him home as the O's lead went back to ten. The Twins didn't go away quietly as Mike Helman led-off the ninth with a walk. Alex Isola kept the game alive with a two-out single and Willie Joe Garry hit an RBI single to left. Jair Camargo flew out to end the game and the Orioles picked up the win today.
-Final Thoughts- Pablo Lopez got touched up a bit in his spring debut. He went two innings and allowed two runs on three hits with two strikeouts. Jhoan Duran gave up four runs in 2/3 of an inning and Michael Boyle gave up the homer to Colton Cowser. Justin Topa allowed a run in the fourth, Austin Schulfer fanned two in the fifth, and Jay Jackson struck out two in the seventh. Jordan Balazovic gave up three in the seventh with two strikeouts. Joe Gunkel allowed a run over two innings of work with two strikeouts. Eddie Julien led the way with two hits. The Twins hit 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position and eleven men on base. Tomorrow, Chris Paddack faces Spencer Strider as the Twins head up to North Port to play the Braves.

The anime is certainly not perfect; the novel is not lacking in details and subplots so I can’t say the choices made adaptation were all necessary.
Am I fond of this anyway? Yes. I am particularly fond of Cedric Errol himself, and the opening theme.

My Review of Shoukoushi Cedie
Tumblr media
(a.k.a. Little Lord Fauntleroy; Our Boy Ceddie; etc.)
Let’s get back to watching some World Masterpiece Theater animes with another anime loosely based on another novel by Francis Hodgson-Burnett. Unlike my familiarity of her other works like The Secret Garden and A Little Princess, I never knew this story.
Tumblr media
I’ve heard of the name many times (mostly used as an insult) and would see movie adaptations here and there, but would never sit down to watch any of them. There are movies to this story. Quite a bit, actually! There are two prominent versions out there that people would flock to. The first would be the 1936 adaptation with Freddie Bartholomew and Mickey Rooney. And the other would be the 1980 adaptation starring future dick-head Ricky Schroder.
Tumblr media
Cedric Errol (Ceddie to those who know him well) is a happy-go-lucky child. He lives with his parents in Brooklyn, NY. He loves baseball. He’s a wide-eyed optimist. If any of his friends are in a jam, he will always help them out. Would anybody think this little boy could be an heir to an earl in England? Ceddie’s father James was trying to hide that previous life by moving far away from England. But misfortune struck with James’s brother suddenly passing away and then James winds up passing away with a heart attack. This leaves Ceddie without a father but also leaves him with a title across the pond.
Tumblr media
Sometime after James’s death, Ceddie was visited by his grandfather’s lawyer, Mr. Havisham and the intentions are to take Ceddie away from Brooklyn and have him live with his grandfather in England. His grandfather is the Earl of Dorincourt and with all of his sons gone, Ceddie is to be the next heir to the earldom. Upon arrival, Ceddie was given literally everything a child could want and more. The only downside to this is that his dearest mother could not live with him. The reason is because Ceddie’s grandfather has a disdain for the American woman his son married.
Tumblr media
Probably because she looks like his dead wife. Whatever that reason may be, they promised to keep it away from Ceddie to keep him from hating his grandfather. Once meeting his only grandson, The Earl bonded with Ceddie in a way he didn’t expect to. Will Ceddie soften the heart of this crotchety old earl?
BETWEEN THE SUB AND DUB: Once again, I’m reviewing an anime from the World Masterpiece Theater collection so that means there’s no licensing or an English dub. There’s word that this anime aired in England back in the 1990s and it was dubbed. But I have been unable to locate any footage or proof that it exists. As for the sub, I found this interesting tidbit. This was Ai Orikasa’s voice acting debut. I always like to hear voice actor’s first role and see how far they’ve come from there. It looked like Orikasa was on good terms as she went on to voice another major character in the World Masterpiece Theater collection. Now, I want to bring to your attention the availability of this anime on the internet. This was the one anime I found difficulty finding with semi-decent subs. So just be aware of this little hurdle you might come across if your wish is to view this story. With that said, here’s what you might recognize these folks from.
*Ceddie is played by Ai Orikasa (known for Ryoko on Tenchi Muyo, Ren on Fruits Basket 2019, Jakotsu on InuYasha, Shizuru on Yu Yu Hakusho, Tohma on Gravitation, and Romeo on Romeo’s Blue Skies)
*The Earl is played by Takeshi Watabe (known for Gamabunta on Naruto) [R.I.P.]
*Annie is played by Tomoko Munakata
Tumblr media
RESPECTED CHARACTER: This honor goes to Annie. Ceddie’s mother gets my full respect. Annie has persevered through the hardest moments in her life. In the span of several months, Annie lost her husband to a heart condition, became the bread winner of her house, had to uproot her entire life to another country, and be separated from her one and only son because her father-in-law said so. Despite all of that, she still put on a brave face. While living in Dorincourt, she would help those around her, especially the sick and disabled. I’m happy that Annie was eventually able to see Ceddie every now and then throughout the series. I just wished The Earl would have come to his senses early on. Who taught Ceddie all of those manners you like him for? His mother Annie, that’s who!
Tumblr media
PROTECT THAT SMILE: This is Cocky. I like Cocky. Protect her smile at all costs!
DISLIKED CHARACTER: Hmm…does this anime have a snot-nosed bitch for me to rag on or a bastard old man?
Tumblr media
Oh my, it does! However, my hatred for Bridget was only for a few episodes. Her mother on the other hand is another story. Thankfully, we don’t see them that often and the whole thing with Bridget was resolved sooner than you’d think. As for the bastard old man, that would be The Earl. Like with Bridget, my hatred for him waned over time. Yes, he did piss me off when he got in a hissy-fit whenever Ceddie’s mother was brought up. I’ve dealt with that in my youth where certain family members trash-talked my mother. I hate them. But the Earl slowly became accepting of Annie and most of that thanks goes to Ceddie. He’s a saint. I think everyone can come together to hate one, single character. And that is…
Tumblr media
Newick! Nobody likes him.
He’s a debt collector. He’s an asshole. He lies to cover his own ass and steals. That’s all there is to him. He’s terrible. Oh and he tried to hurt Cocky. Fuck this guy!
Oh, you thought I was going to say Minna, weren’t you? That’s the obvious choice. My hatred for Newick gradually built over a certain amount of time because he was on the series longer than that gold-digging ho.
SADDEST MOMENT: Death is a familiar topic brought up throughout nearly all of the stories featured in Japan’s World Masterpiece Theater. And the ones I saw in previous animes from this collection didn’t really strike a chord with me. Don’t get me wrong, they were tragic, but most of them were just followed by an intense streak of anger brought on by the circumstance. Most notably, Fantine’s death in Les Miserables and Alfredo’s parents assassination in Romeo’s Blue Skies got me angry. Watching Ceddie’s father die was just sad!
Tumblr media
Watching James cry while saying his final words on this earth as Ceddie performs his favorite song is enough to blast you in the gut. And little Ceddie is just so innocent in this scene and thinks his father just fell asleep. Scenes like that just don’t get any easier to watch. That’s why I get choked up when Mufasa dies in The Lion King and Simba tries to wake him up.
ACCURATE OR NOT: Okay, a lot of these animes I’ve been watching have been pretty good with accuracy. Will this one do the same? Ehh…hard to tell. Filler episodes are everywhere here so anything is possible. This’ll be smaller than usual.
Tumblr media
*Even though Ceddie’s father is hardly ever seen in any other adaptation, we do see him significantly in the first 5 episodes. In the anime, his name was James Errol. But in everything else he’s known as Captain Cedric. Usually, he’s dead before the story begins. I’m also pretty sure that Ceddie’s father never worked for the newspaper.
Tumblr media
*Apparently, The Earl had three sons in total. In the anime, we only know of James (Ceddie’s father) and Bevis. Whatever the case, all three are dead now.
Tumblr media
*Dearest Annie! Watching this anime with even the crappiest of subtitles, one thing that I know for sure is that Ceddie never once called his mother “Dearest” like in every other piece of media with this story. I’m actually relieved on that one. Next to men calling their wives “mother”, that is too cringy for my liking. I know Ceddie calls his mother “Dearest” because that’s what his father called her and so Ceddie took over calling her that. In the anime however, Ceddie calls her “mother”. It’s quite possible they gave her the name Annie in this adaptation after the song “Annie Laurie”, the song Ceddie constantly plays on his instrument.
Tumblr media
*I really can’t find anything proving that Cocky was a real character in the novel or any other adaptation. And that sucks because I really liked her. Yeah, a lot of memorable characters in the anime were not really there in the actual story. And if they were, they probably didn’t have a name or went by something else. At least I know the dog actually existed.
Tumblr media
ENDING: Ceddie might not be the rightful heir to become Earl. It’s not like Ceddie isn’t really The Earl’s grandson. They’re related, there’s no doubt about that. And The Earl loves Ceddie! I mean, he loves his grandson dearly. If Ceddie weren’t around, he’d still be in that mansion, stomping his cane around being a crusty old crone. The reason behind this new turn of events is that he might have a surprise grandson. Let me explain!
Ceddie’s father James had an older brother named Bevis. Bevis might have fucked around with some random lady and they had a son. I think the woman’s name was Minna or something. I don’t know, I’m just gonna call her Lyin’ ass ho. And you know the rules, first sons are the heirs and everyone else is the spare. Not my rule, this shit goes back to Henry VIII times. So, what now? Does Ceddie get cast aside for this illegitimate heir? Does that mean Ceddie can at least live with his mother now? Could this possibly mean that Ceddie and Annie are going to go back to Brooklyn? The Earl was not having this malarchy in his mansion. He threw out this lyin’ ass ho and her son.
Tumblr media
The thought occurred with Annie and Ceddie about returning to the states. But all of the people they helped throughout this story pleaded with them not to go. During their time in England, Annie and Ceddie helped the people of the area known as Earl’s Court. Annie would look after the sick and disabled. And Ceddie persuaded his grandfather to rebuild the entire area when it was discovered that everyone there was practically living in squalor. Hell, Ceddie was able to soften his grandfather’s heart and The Earl ended up opening up a bit.
Tumblr media
Now comes an ugly ultimatum. Bevis’s so-called ex-wife has been challenging to go to court on the matter of having her son become Little Lord Fauntleroy. But she’s willing to drop it if she lets her son move in and have Ceddie leave the mansion. Yeah, I hate this bitch. Come on anime, we’ve got one episode left. Is this bitch gonna get her comeuppance or what because tick-tock!? Ceddie decides to leave the mansion to prevent being a burden to his grandfather. He decides to stay with his mother and Cocky. Back in the states, Ceddie’s friends and acquaintances have been following this whole story. Mr. Hobbs the storekeeper has been getting frequent letters from Ceddie and the newspaper has been getting stories from across the pond about the development in the alleged new earl case.
Tumblr media
Well, time for this shit to be blown up. Ceddie’s NY friend Dick recognized the woman claiming to be Bevis’s ex with his child. Dick and Mr. Hobbs make an unexpected trip to England to straighten out this ugly situation. The evil woman claiming she has the real Lord Fauntleroy is a lyin’ ass ho. Dick’s brother Ben is the real father to this poor kid. So, he’s not related to the lord or Ceddie. Lyin’ ass ho was caught in that web of lies she concocted in front of the lord, Ceddie, her son, the baby-daddy, the servants, all of that. Turns out Lyin’ ass ho was married to Dick’s brother and had a baby with him, but was tired of being poor. So, she ditches both her husband and son to go searching for a sugar daddy. That’s when she met and married Bevis (Ceddie’s uncle). But when their relationship lapsed, she came back to take the child she ditched and went away somewhere the father couldn’t find.
Yeah, this story would make anyone’s blood boil. The Earl was ready to lay down some much-welcomed punishment on this evil woman. But Ceddie pleaded with his grandfather to not be cruel and even went so far as to threaten renouncing his heirdom if he does something cruel to the lyin’ ass ho. That’s the one thing that always annoyed me about Ceddie. This woman did a lot of damage to the people around her. She should not be let off easy. Then again, the only time you’ll see Ceddie lose his temper is if anyone insults his mother. Anyways, The Earl decided to just let her go and she left her son with his father and left without a fuss. So, Ceddie is officially Little Lord Fauntleroy. And even better, his grandfather did something nice for Ceddie. He is finally allowing his mother Annie to live with her son in the mansion and offered a heartfelt apology for his stubbornness.
I guess the characters get a happy ending. Dick’s brother gets to live with his son on a farm somewhere in the states. Dick is working for Mr. Hobbs instead of shining shoes. Ceddie and his mother get to live with each other. And now it’s time for the family to make a trip to New York to visit James’s grave and pay their respects.
This was an okay story. Once again, I like this version than the movie versions I watched. I gotta say, Ceddie was one of the luckier of the children featured in Japan’s World Masterpiece Theater. I know he lost his father at a young age and was separated from his mother shortly after. But you’ve gotta admit he’s luckier compared to other characters like Cosette, Romeo, and Sara Crewe.
A few gripes…Besides the animation, that’s a given. I should save my breath when it comes to all of the early Nippon animations. One of my gripes has to do with the previews. The previews talk about the next episode and when the next episode comes, the stuff they talk about happens at the end. What a cock-tease! The other gripe is that the ending felt very rushed. All the stuff with who was the rightful Little Lord Fauntleroy comes at the very last second. In a 43-episode long series, they save something big like this to the last 3 episodes. And for something as serious as proving paternity, the matter was taken care of rather quickly in the final episode.
Recommendation wise…eh, it’s a toss up for me. I was just okay with it. It wasn’t a favorite of mine and would recommend other animes that came from the same company. I honestly thought it was too cute and wholesome for my liking. It’s weird for me to say that when you see some of my taste in anime, but that’s how I felt. But if you’re curious and have read the book or watched some of the older movies to Little Lord Fauntleroy, give it a watch. But only if you’re able to find the entire series. Like I said before, this series was difficult to find with semi-decent subtitles.
Okay, I’m going to replace Little Lord Fauntleroy with yet another World Masterpiece Theater anime. And funny enough, this anime was the one that replaced Little Lord Fauntleroy after original its run.
Peter Pan!
Tumblr media
Oh God. The Little Lord Fauntleroy anime looks like a Makoto Shinkai masterpiece compared to what they did to Peter Pan.

It used to be acceptable to dress young boys in dresses. Nowadays dresses are considered "feminine," and dressing a young boy in a dress would be cause for some side-eye. Why did this change?
Some background: before the mid-20th century, it was normal practice to dress male and female children alike until the age of "breeching" (technically an 18th century term, but handy to describe the phenomenon), generally between 4 and 7, when the boys would start to wear bifurcated lower garments. There could be subtle distinctions made between boys' dresses and girls' dresses as boys neared breeching - an older boy's dress might be styled more like a jacket, with decorative buttons down the front (both sexes' dresses fastened in the back; girls would continue to wear back-fastening dresses until they were deemed adults) and cuffs, or like a kilt.
However, as you may have heard, there was no concept of boy-colors vs. girl-colors, at least not to the extent that there is today. Some publications would recommend particular tones for each gender, while others contradicted them and yet others said there was no distinction to be made. You can find images of boys in blue and girls in pink, but also images of boys in pink and girls in blue and red and every other color. (Infants were generally dressed all in white.)
The shift from gender-neutral to strongly gender-coded clothing occurred, according to Jo Paoletti (Pink and Blue: Telling the Boys from the Girls in America), between 1890 and the baby boom after WWII. One part of this is economic: restricting certain colors (pink/blue) and styles (dresses) to a certain gender meant that hand-me-downs had a smaller audience. Where parents could have previously allowed each of their children to wear the same clothing up to age five or so and then purchased/made gendered clothing, with a sense that boys and girls should always be instantly recognizable, they now had to shell out for two sets of clothing from birth.
But there are also social reasons. In the first half of the 20th century, Western society was also facing a great deal of anxiety about sexuality and gender roles. This was a time when homosexuality as a concept began to be defended, gay people began to come out/have more visibility, and women started to become a greater share of the workforce and dress in ways that challenged certain norms of gender roles (shorter hair, trousers) and standards (showing more skin, wearing fewer layers). By lowering the age of gender differentiation and more rigidly defining the ways in which children performed/displayed gender, society "struck back" against these changes.
In the 1890s, there was also an enormous fad for "Fauntleroy suits" for boys. Based on that worn in the novel (and subsequent play) Little Lord Fauntleroy, it was a black velvet suit with lace collar and cuffs, generally worn with longer hair. (You can see a couple of examples here.) The character of Cedric Erroll, the little lord himself, was not at all effeminate by the standards of the day - he's brave, strong, and active, and was generally considered charming. Even though it was thought of as a good book to give children due to its moral lessons, it still won 77% of the vote in a popular magazine's poll for favorite novel of those under twelve. The pushback began against the suit itself rather than the character or book, although the title itself is now used as a synonym for fussiness and effeminacy. Critics complained that women were blind to the fact that their sons' mischievous natures would not be erased by the suit, that they were reducing their sons to fashionable accessories or inculcating undemocratic and aristocratic standards, and that they were preventing their boys from indulging in the more active, dirty outdoors play that was coming to be seen as "natural" and necessary for male children. It seems very likely that the coming-of-age of the Fauntleroy generation resulted in the first strong shift toward more strongly gendered children's clothes in the 1900s. (For more on the Fauntleroy fad, see Kristen Stewart's Little Lord Fauntleroy: The Defense of a Fashion Victim.)

Lon Chaney and Renée Adorée in The Blackbird (Tod Browning, 1926)
Cast: Lon Chaney, Owen Moore, Renée Adorée, Doris Lloyd, Andy MacLennan, Willam West, Sidney Bracey, Ernie Adams. Screenplay: Tod Browning, Waldemar Young; titles: Joseph Farnham. Cinematography: Percy Hilburn. Art direction: Cedric Gibbons, A. Arnold Gillespie. Film editing: Errol Taggart.
The Blackbird begins with an atmospheric re-creation of Victorian Limehouse, but it turns into a routine melodrama, a showcase for Lon Chaney, who plays both the title character, a thief, and his alter ego, the Bishop, who pretends to be a missionary in the district. No one seems to suspect that the Blackbird and the Bishop are the same person, because in the latter persona Chaney contorts himself, holding one shoulder higher than the other and twisting one leg into an impossible position. Eventually, this masquerade will prove the truth of your mother's warning that if you keep contorting your face or body like that, it'll freeze that way. But in the meantime, the Blackbird falls for a music hall performer, Fifi Lorraine (Renée Adorée), who is also being pursued by a society toff (Owen Moore) known as West End Bertie. He's a thief, too, but in his case love for Fifi proves stronger than larceny. Tod Browning, who also wrote the screenplay (with Waldemar Young), handles this nonsense well. Adorée is charming, and her slightly risqué puppet show is fun, but the only real reason to see this movie is to admire Chaney's unfailing commitment to his considerable art.

Since I made a post about the children Ann will eventually have, as well as Slane, it’s only fair I make a post about the children Sue will eventually have as well. So here they are, the children of the future Empress Suzanne -
Tumblr media
Primrosa Lucifenia de’Lareryth Heart, Crown Princess of the Lareryth Empire
The sole child of Empress Suzanne Ying de’Lareryth Heart, & sole heir to the throne of the newly expanded Lareryth Empire. After marrying her arranged spouse, Seth de’Lareryth Heart & being crowned queen, Sue kills Seth 2 years later, as well as the only two other legitimate children of the former king & queen. Having failed to get pregnant by Seth before his death & no other legitimate child to pass the crown off too, Sue solely inherits the power of the Empire. Sometime later, after Seth’s death, Sue begins a ‘courtship’ with Arthur Rogue of Jailiam, in an effort to combine their shared vision of a uniting the 12 tribes of Jailiam under one banner. They’re very successful in doing this together, & afterwards, she ends up killing Arthur to take all he’s conquered under the Lareryth Banner, but not before getting pregnant from Arthur. Deciding that it would be best to have at least one heir on hand, Sue carried the pregnancy to term & was delighted to see she had a daughter that was her spitting image & affectionally names her daughter after her beloved mother, ‘Primrosa’. Sue would raise her daughter to be both tough, elegant & intelligent, giving her a military education similar to her own Camellian military upbringing, & allowing Primrosa to study anything she pleased. The Crown Princess proved to be no slouch, & like her mother, craved as much knowledge as she could get, so studied a incredibly wide range of subject, from math & science, to politics, to art & even forbidden magics. Primrosa also was shown to be a very excellent marksmen with varies types of guns, as well as a gifted magus, one of the most gifted of the era. She also holds the same attitude as her mother, sharing little time for fools & is very blunt & straightforward with her ways. She does, however, enjoy a bit of spotlight, & socializing(with the right people anyway). Despite some noble of the large Empire believing that Primrosa is unfit to rule such a large empire created by her mother, Sue herself firmly believes her daughter if more then ready to rule when the time comes.

Son with @tetsuwan-atom. Faceclaim - Cedric Islar from Lilian of Turin
Tumblr media
Hera Rosa Chuuno, Princess of Avalon
Secondborn of two children, spare heir to the throne of Avalon. She is both very smart & intelligent, able to keep up with some of the brightest minds of the time in complicated conversations. Hera appears the part of a soft & dainty princess, but her heart beats with ambition. Knowing she is the spare heir, she intends to marry a Crown Prince somewhere so she can be in line to become a Queen, much like how her mother did.
Daughter with @tetsuwan-atom. Faceclaim - Kaira de Orsia from There’s No Use Hanging On

Rosarita Nox de'Lareryth Heart, Crown Princess of the Lareryth Empire
Firstborn of three children & the only daughter of Empress Suzanne Ying de’Lareryth Heart & Prince Consort Bowen Chunno(otherwise know as The Madman), heir the the throne of the Lareryth Empire. Of all the royal children, she is the most refined & the most magically gifted, able to be both elegance & charming, while throwing death threats & insults towards those she deems her enemies. She is one of the few people, along with her mother & father, who can keep her first brother, Lucas, calm & controlled when he is angry. Studying in her younger days a large array of subjects, including having military training, Rosarita’s best subject was undoubtably forbidden magics, making her a strikingly powerful magus.
Daughter with @tetsuwan-atom. Faceclaim - Roxana Agrece from A Way to Protect the Female Lead’s Older Brother.
Tumblr media
Lucas Sangue de'Lareryth Heart, Prince of the Lareryth Empire
Secondborn of three children & the first son of Empress Suzanne Ying de’Lareryth Heart & Prince Consort Bowen Chunno(otherwise know as The Madman), he was originally the ‘spare heir’, but gave his position to his younger brother instead, officially making him last in line for the Lareryth Throne. Lucas is the chaotic combination of his mother’s assertive personality, his father’s borderline insanity, & both parent’s willingness to kill other people as if it was a mere chore. This makes the prince very statistic in his nature & nearly completely apathetic towards others, with exception to a select few, like his family. He can also be possessive of those few things he cares about, to the point of explosive violence, & seems to have issues with being violent all together. Despite being a prince, he acts nothing like one, with his behavior & speech being like that of a delinquent, lacking even the most basic of refinement & respect. His physical strength also appears abnormal, & while he is not quite at his father’s level, it’s clear a few Atomite genes were passed onto Lucas.
Son with - @tetsuwan-atom. Faceclaim - Jeremy Agrece(Adult form) from A Way to Protect the Female Lead’s Older Brother
Tumblr media
Jonas Finn de'Lareryth Heart, Prince of the Lareryth Empire
Thirdborn of three children & the second son of Empress Suzanne Ying de’Lareryth Heart & Prince Consort Bowen Chunno(otherwise know as The Madman), he is the official spare heir since his older brother’s stepping down from the position despite being so young. Despite his youth, Jonas appears like a very bright & intelligent child, studying a large array of subjects. His entire focus appears to be on his studies, rarely ever appearing in public or at social gatherings, which he holds a strong distaste for. He is blunt when speaking to others, but mostly appears to avoid talking to others if he can.
Son with - @tetsuwan-atom. Faceclaim - Lloyd Cardence Valentine(young form) from Becoming the Villain's Family
Tumblr media
Lawrence Shinpachi de'Lareryth Heart, Crown Prince of the Lareryth Empire
Firstborn of two sons between Empress Suzanne Ying de’Lareryth Heart & Oni Shinpachi, heir to the throne of the Lareryth Empire. His father’s last name was made to be his own middle name in the memory of the man his father was before his birth. Being the prefect picture of his mother, it’s unknown to the Lareryth Court exactly how Lawrence’s father is, but it is mostly believed that he is former King Seth de’Lareryth’s son. While this isn’t true, Sue & Oni decided it best to let the court believe such, so Lawrence’s claim for the throne couldn’t be argued. Lawrence himself was raised to be a kind but firm prince, to be chivalrous yet not let such a nature allow him to be pushed around. He holds true to his upbringing, & is quite the force to reckon with in debates of any nature, while also being a delight to have as a friend & within one’s social circle.
Son with - @tetsuwan-atom. Faceclaim - Perez Brivacheu Durelli(Adult form) from I Shall Master This Family!
Tumblr media
Kichiro Genji de'Lareryth Heart, Prince of the Lareryth Empire
Secondborn of two sons between Empress Suzanne Ying de’Lareryth Heart & Oni Shinpachi, spare heir to the throne of the Lareryth Empire. Born with his father’s brown hair & his mother black pearl eyes, he is considered one of the most handsome men of the Empire. Accepting of his position as simply a spare, & not really desiring any power for himself, Kichiro decided instead to decided to throw himself into knighthood. He proved to be an outstanding fighter very quickly, & rose through the ranks of the Lareryth military at lightning pace, by 15, he was already a Major General, & became a Lieutenant General the day after his 16th birthday. While he was a straightforward man, & could be frightening in certain situations, he was also a gentle soul, heading many charity originations & was a large part in aiding clean up & restoration effects in the many countries his mother conquered during her reign. He gained many metals & badges of honor for his efforts & is often called the ‘Great Knight’ or ‘Great Knight Prince’.
Son with - @tetsuwan-atom. Faceclaim - Kassion from Today the Villainess has Fun Again.
Tumblr media
Aiya Mizushima, Crown Princess of Mizuho
The firstborn of Akihito & Sun Fang’s many daughters, & heir to the throne of Mizuho. Despite being born a female, & having more of her mother's traits then her fathers, Aiya's birth was an exciting one for the Mizuho court, as it was their first child after a long wait. Despite her clearly intelligent nature, Aiya was at first denied the proper education that only men got at the time, prompting both Akihito & Sun to reform the educational system to allow females, as well as the commonfolk, to pursue the same level of education that only aristocratic men were allowed. She studied a large array of subjects, from math & finances, to politics & world culture, she was also still taught the ways of noble elegance & etiquette, with Sun passing on her knowledge of how to appear both lady-like & ruthless. Aiya was also later recognized as the Crown Princess to Mizuho after Aki & Sun fall to have a male child, so the rights of succession were changed to automatically give rights to the firstborn child of the reigning monarch, regardless of their gender.

Taigenia Mizushima, Princess of Mizuho
The first of a pair of twins consisting of herself & Chōhisa, officially the secondborn daughter & the spare heir to the throne of Mizuho, she was named a feminized form of the name 'Taigen', which means 'great ambition', Taigenia would hold true to her name. Like her older sister Aiya, Taigenia was bared from having the education that she wanted, which her case, was to learn about war & battle. Rather then waiting for the education reform of Mizuho, Taigenia simply asked her parents if she could study war in her mother’s homeland of Camellia. Agreeing this, Taigenia spent 2 years in Camellia, undergoing it’s Mandatory Military program, & returned to Mizuho as a master of stealth & Cloak-&-Dagger style of attack. She serves as the royal spy to the Mizuho court, & is very defensive of her family, especially her twin sister, & has no issues with becoming physical with other people should they anger her.
Daughter with - @thelazyeditor. Faceclaim - Xuanyuan Yu(Alternate version) from Mejaz Regulus in the World
Tumblr media
Chōhisa Mizushima, Princess of Mizuho
The second of a pair of twins consisting of herself & Taigenia, officially the thirdborn daughter, her name is the combined version of two other names, ‘Chō’ meaning ‘butterfly’ & ‘Hisa’ meaning ‘long-lasting’, she is most called ‘Hisa’ by her family. Hisa was born very short & blind, making her be seen as a cursed child by the Mizuho court. For this, she was the most sheltered princess, & had difficultly learning certain subjects. She mostly took a liking to music & song, as it was the easiest for her to learn given it did not require sight. So, while being unable to read, write, preform math & understand science, she made it her mission to learn every musical art possible. She has mastered over 50 different instruments, with the most of them being in the stringed category.
Daughter with - @thelazyeditor. Faceclaim - Shinobu Kocho from Demon Slayer
Tumblr media
Bara ‘Rosa’ Mizushima, Princess of Mizuho
Fourth daughter & the second-to-last of Akihito & Sun Fang's children. Sun desperately wanted to name who she thought was her final child a name based her mother's, despite it being a very European name. They decided to call her 'Bara', in reference to Sun's mother's namesake flower, but her direct family addresses her as 'Rosa'. Originally born very small & thin, Rosa was a child that got sick easily, but would get healthier as she grew up. During her young years, she was often sheltered to keep her from getting sick, so took an interest in reading, as it allowed her to mentally escape to far away places; falling in love with reading quickly. This love carried over into Rosa's adult years, & she began writing stories & novels of her own.
Daughter with - @thelazyeditor. Faceclaim -Tsubaki Fujiwara from Black Summoner
Tumblr media
Mizushima Fuyuko, Princess of Mizuho
The Fifth & truly final child of King Akihito & Queen Sun Fang’s children. A surprise child born in the dead of winter, she was named as such, her name meaning ‘winter’s child’. Being born during such a time, she seems closely tied to winter’s magic, ice, snow, chilly winds & other seasonal magics. With her grand gift, she is a well practiced magus even at her young age. Being the only one in the family, besides her mother, who has any magic at all, she is often called a ‘witch’ by the Mizuho Court.
Daughter with - @thelazyeditor. Faceclaim - Shouxie from Raven of the Inner Palace
