bio: the trevelyans, despite originating from antiva, are one of the most prominent noble families of ostwick. because of their strong ties to the chantry, the family does not hesitate to send their children to the circle when they discover the gift of magic. luca felt betrayed when he was sent away at just 12 years old and left on bad terms with his mother, who he was extremely close with. growing up with his father's strong disdain for magic and fearmongering from the templars caused luca to develop a fear of his own magical abilities. luca's mother passes away from illness before luca has a chance to reconcile, intensifying the guilt, fear, and nightmares he already suffered with. before he was even considered to do his harrowing, he begs the templars to make him tranquil so he won't be a threat to anybody, and won't have to further deal with his pain. when kirkwall's circle rebelled, ostwick quickly followed suit, and luca was forced to join the rebels for his own survival. he eventually joins the senior enchanters at the divine conclave as an unbiased voice. when the anchor is accidentally fused with luca's hand, his severed connection with the fade was restored, curing him of his tranquility. after being tranquil for a decade, luca must relearn how to live, how to feel, and how to be a leader, as he's thrust into reverence as the only hope to save thedas.

bio: growing up, lilith had always had an immense and dangerous fascination with magic, and desperately wanted to learn it for herself. but there is not much a lowly street urchin can do when your main focus is surviving the day in a dirty, corrupt city. despite the hardships, lilith will always try to steal magical trinkets and tomes to try to teach herself magic. perhaps if she was strong enough, she would be able to make enough money for her and her mother to have a real home. however, lilith was caught stealing from a powerful noble, and - in a desperate attempt to save her daughter - lilith's mother takes the blame, resulting in her being cut down before lilith's very eyes. months pass and lilith is suddenly approached by a ghostly voice, claiming to be the spirit of her deceased mother. her mother's spirit says that she returned to watch over her daughter, and will be willing to teach her magic if lilith does what she is told. lilith accepts immediately, and is ecstatic that she is getting to two things she wants the most - her mother, and magic. unbeknownst to lilith, however, this apparition is not her mother. it is instead a fiend, taking advantage of a grieving orphan with a strong desire for magic, in order to manipulate her into doing its bidding. the fiend's goal is to feed lilith so much power that she eventually goes berserk, wreaking as much havoc as possible before she inevitably loses herself to the very magic she longed for.

Just the lyric Leliana sings of the Dawn Will Come is so important to me, because I argue that it encompasses all that I think displays Leliana’s arc in DA:I.

“The Shepard’s lost, and his home is far. Keep to the stars, the dawn will come.”

In many ways, Warden/Leliana fans could argue that this lyric could be reference to the Warden, either dead and romanced, or alive and romanced but far from the side of Leliana. But also taken to the context of Justinia, well, that was really the first real home outside Lady Cecilia. Justinia was truly like mother figure to Leliana, one of the few people she could call family.

But there could also be a level of kinship there with the Inquisitor, especially if we take it under the consideration of a mage Trevelyan, a Lavellan, a Cadash, or an Adaar. All of them are far from home, all of them are lost. Despite the Trevelyans being home, they are still magical, still considered an outcast to the norms of Andrastian society. I don’t need to go into the Lavellan, Cadash, or Adaar characters to explain why they certainly fill out of place in a mostly Andrastian organization. It may even be potent to a believing Trevelyan, too, who does consider themselves Andraste’s devout servant.

Just, the both of them are lost, Leliana and the Inquisitor. Both have ties as servants to a divine figure, who didn’t come to their aid in their hour of need. But both need to look to the stars.

For the Herald, it is the people of Thedas, their companions, these group whom they must call family because no matter what, they can’t go back to who they are. They are Andraste’s Chosen. In the eyes of many, they were sent to them, taken, and returned, by Her Will alone. A Trevelyan can’t return to Ostwick, to lounge and go horse-back riding or visit the pubs. A Lavellan may never be able to return to their clan, either if they live or die. A cadash can’t return to smuggling, an Adaar to mercenary work. As Josie’s romance scene shows, the Inquisitor belongs to the world, and it is very lonely being so near to the divine.

And maybe in some ways, Leliana understands that most of all.

thank u for asking omg !!!! i have 3 worldstates loosely planned out which is a Lot for me since i have a tendency to get deeply (perhaps pathologically) attached to one worldstate and one pc lol. but im being brave abt it !

worldstate 1 is my canon worldstate, and the overarching theme for it is self-mythology/loss of personhood. i wont go into detail since i yap enough abt them already lol but i have elspeth (warrior f!cousland romancing alistair) cillian (a rogue m!hawke romancing anders) and ashara (a mage f!lavellan romancing/redeeming solas) all going into datv head first. my canon datv pc will likely be an elven archer f!rook romancing either davrin or taash hehe <3

second worldstate is all mages and obv thats the main theme i wanna have fun with

lucander amell (he/him, blood mage and spirit healer, romances morrigan) unassuming, distant, and polite and also kind of unnerving. used to being seen as a bad guy and is willing to act accordingly, but otherwise is a pretty decent, honorable man. does morrigan's ritual, kills the archdemon, leaves alistair a grey warden. doesn't become warden commander in awakening bc he goes into hiding from the wardens before they can ask too many questions abt the ritual and why hes still alive. he tracks down morrigan in the hopes of protecting her, and then stays with her and their son after that.

cecilia hawke (she/her, spirit healer mage, romances fenris) a blue!hawke who's sweet and motherly and soft spoken and has an enormous guilt complex/self hate for being a mage lol. carver joins the templars, and she later sides with them in act 3 and kills anders which </3 anyways. she survives here lies the abyss in dai and hopefully goes on to attend biweekly couples therapy with fenris <3

thomasin trevelyan (SOFTEST of launches on that name) (she/her, knight enchanter mage, romances cullen. maybe.) socially adept, politically cunning, with a love for the game and a desire to regain her place within the trevelyan family nobility. sides with the mages, doesn't drink from the well, negotiates a truce between celene/gaspard/briala, pardons the wardens, redeems solas, disbands the inquisition post trespasser. shes a good girl and she's got her head on straight!

might do a qunari f!rook mage to romance taash or davrin for datv! we'll see !

lastly my third worldstate places value on the eluvians so its very elfy or at least elf-adjacent. and also the lineage of ameridan > garahel > maherial and so on. i just think its neat . still VERY much underdeveloped tho so no names yet

He’d never been one for these sort of things; with the fancy attire, the gleaming jewels, and the just overdone of everything. It must have been the Fereldan in him.

“My Lady, have I introduced you to my cousin?” Antoinette was keen to drag Seigfried about. “This is Seigfried Trevelyan. Seigfried, this is Grand Duchess Cecilia Valmont.”

Ah. A big name. No wonder Antoinette was so intent on introducing them. Seigfried gave a charming smile, bowing his head slightly. Gently, he took her hand in his and raised it to his lips, pressing a kiss to her knuckles.

Thank you Anon for your kind words ^^ I haven’t really talked much about siblings topic so I’m really happy to answer your question (also I apologize for mistakes in the text  and crappy handwriting in advance).

Rein is seven years younger than Fergus – she always wanted to impress her big brother (or even better - beat him in every discipline possible). They had this ongoing sibling rivalry although it never turned into bitterness or resentment. They would go into the fire together if needed. After the Blight, their bonds remained strong but also slightly different. They were no longer happy children after all, but sole survivors of Cousland family, forever changed by that tragedy. Still, Fergus and Rein remain loyal and supportive to one another, both in private and political life. And when they meet, that old spark of banter and friendly rivalry appears from time to time too.

Garrett’s relationship with his siblings is pretty much the standard one we see in games.

Garrett really misses Bethany and is haunted by the thought that he could have done something to save her. With Carver, they work the best if they see each other only once a year. For a short time. They care for each other as brothers but their personalities just don’t work together well.

As for Lizzie I think I need a more detailed chart :D

First of all, Lizzie is not Patrick’s biological daughter but it is a secret only he and Augusta know about. Their children (Lizzie included) have no idea.

Secondly, Lizzie was never close with her siblings. She is the youngest child and there was a big age gap between her and other children (especially Arthur and Beatrice). When Lizzie was born, Arthur and Beatrice have already spent very little time at home - they traveled, attended school and later moved out and got married young. Arthur married his second cousin for financial reasons. Beatrice married Orlesian nobleman.

Cecilia was still raised at home when Lizzie was born but later their paths also diverged as Lizzie was sent for Chantry education being only 7 years old. Later on, Cecilia was supposed to marry a nobleman from Tantervale but he died not long before the wedding. Not wanting to engage into another relationship, Cecilia decided to dedicate her life to the Maker and stayed in Tantervale’s Chantry.

The fact that Lizzie was basically a scapegoat in the family also didn’t help to build love between siblings. Arthur and Beatrice were rather uninterested in Lizzie’s life as long as it didn’t affect them and Cecilia was convinced that her younger sister just doesn’t try hard enough to be a “good Trevelyan girl”.

When Lizzie became the Herald of Andraste she was quickly disowned by Patrick as he was very loyal to the old Chantry and wanted to prove his loyalty by cutting off the ties with rebel daughter. He probably regretted it after she had become the famous and beloved Inquisitor but was too proud and stubborn to change his decision.

Beatrice was the first one to contact Lizzie, soon after Inquisition arrived to Skyhold. She was motivated mostly by curiosity and wanting to show the world that she had a famous sister, but still, she was kinder than other members of the Trevelyan family.

Cecilia was the second one to make a contact. She genuinely recognized Inquisition had a noble goal and made the Maker proud. She willingly joined the Inquisition and apologized for treating Lizzie poorly. Cecilia worked for the Inquisition for some time and they talked with Lizzie from time to time but they never became very close.

Arthur, being a well behaved family’s heir, was obedient to his father’s wish and didn’t try contact Lizzie. Only after Patrick’s death (around Trespasser’s events) he met with his youngest sister. The meeting was strictly professional though – Arthur only proposed inviting Lizzie into the family again because it would be beneficial politically. She refused.

Long story short – Lizzie’s biological family kinda sucks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

P.S. no, even I don’t know who is Lizzie’s biological father. They never meet. But I guess he had freckles.
