How awesome is this???? 💗 📚 📖 🔬 🌸 ********** #Repost @bookstagramchoiceawards with @get_repost ・・・ This year's #bookstagram pick for Best Girl Power Picture Book is. . .(drumroll, please) CeCe Loves Science by Kimberly Derting. Cece is a smart, thoughtful and confident young girl who working on a project for her science class. Cece works with her best friend Issac first to come up with a question to investigate, and then to carry out the investigation through observation, experimentation and critical thinking. That is a set up for a GREAT girl power book.  And take note that Cece is a (diverse - mixed, even!) female protagonist in a science-themed story - that also includes a boy.  In addition to this book serving as an introduction to the Scientific Method, readers learn lots of other tidbits, like the names of some famous scientists and types of science. Then we have the fact that her science teacher is a woman named Ms. Curie - another opportunity for learning! Themes of problem solving, pushing through stumbling blocks, being confident and creative flow throughout. Plus fantastic illustrations by @vashtiharrison. And last but not least, the dedication from authors @kimberlyderting and @srjohannes, which says it all: "To all the inspirational women who paved their own way in science through determination and hard work.
