That smile while munching one of your favorite Filipino dishes in your flight back home! Who could have thought that inflight meals could be this good? I enjoyed the Beef Kare-kare as it was served warm by the very accommodating flight attendants. The meat was tender and the vegetable was cooked just right. Indeed tasteful! Glad to witness a Shinto Wedding during my visit to the shrine. This traditional Japanese wedding is also callee "Shinzen Shiki" and has 12 stages, this particular part i've witness is "Sanshin-no-gi" or the procession ceremony. These decorative sake barrels, referred to as "kazaridaru" are displayed to give honor to the gods. Traditionally, Japan believed they had a connection between the gods and the Sake they produced, each year barrels of Sake are donated. The Sake is used for religious festivals and the barrels form a unique display outside the shrine. Cherry Blossom known as “sakura” is Japan’s national flower, they signify renewal and hope. Glad that in my last day in Japan I was able to have a glimpse of this iconic flower. There are over 200 different varieties of cherry blossom, the most popular “Somei Yoshino”, it has a white flower and have the merest hint of pink, this type of cherry blossom usually last not more than a week, thus it also reminds us the transient nature of life. Loyalty, this what Hachiko's statue reminds us today. This unofficial Japan landmark is a homage to the faithful akita dog who waited at Shibuya Station every day for his master, even after his death. Hachiko was adopted by Professor Eizaburo Ueno of Tokyo University in the early 1920s, the two were then inseparable, with Hachiko waiting for his master to come home from work every day. Unfortunately, in 9125 the professor died and left Hachiko behind. However, the loyal Hachiko continued to come to the station daily to wait for his master until his own death nearly 10 years later.
