Number of things here. Shows how fast an attack comes, how much emotion is behind it and how self defense videos showing how to address attacks where the attacker is stationary are not realistic. He drives her backwards and without the door behind her she would have been on the ground. Real attacks aren't static, they are very dynanmic. #Repost @stayingsafe_selfdefense said it beautifully so I've left all their observations. I will I add I particularly like how quickly the bouncer reacted after seeing the woman run! The bouncer was successful in stopping this attack due to his 1) awareness to the baseline and recognition of the anomalies within the area 2) when presented with a threat he responded with immediate overwhelming force [violence of action], control of the pistol, perpetrator, and area [space management].• • 1. The bouncer observed the security officer run; he recognized that this was not typical, remained calm, and investigated the source of her fear. 2. He challenged the man entering; the man started to raise his pistol. The bouncer redirected the aim down and to the side, and followed up with an elbow strike with continued forward overwhelming pressure, utilizing the limited space to his advantage. Once the perpetrator was overwhelmed, the bouncer controlled him until assistance arrived.• • Deviations from the baseline are not limited to the actions of the perpetrator.• • As I’ve mentioned in several other posts, it is unlikely that we will observe all anomalies prior to an incident. This is why we focus on the entire area and the anomalies within it; others may react to anomalies prior to your observation. Excellent, but sad example of commonplace behaviour these days that we teach in all seminars. While there are no guarantees you can prevent this there are several things you can do to dramatically reduce the chances of being victimized. Back into your parking spot so you can see threats in front allowing for more efficient getaway driving straight out if you see the threat in time. Scan scan scan the environment more than your damn phone with your head down. Keep situational awareness to avoid even being hit by a car, not just any potential "bad guys". If they get your valuables get to safety and call the police. Your life is worth more than possessions. How about learn some basic violence prevention skills.
