Okay, finally caught up on the full VOD and here are some messy thoughts

...

So. UHHH. On a gut emotional level, I fucking hated that lmao. Whole chapter of my life finished with a bang and a whimper. Las Nevadas Labor Union is over, y'all. The boss just deny, defend, deposed himself. Holy shit.

On an intellectual, thematic level... I... can't really... argue with that? Like, we didn't actually expect a character that cc!Q explicitly said was inspired by Walter White to receive a happy ending or a functional relationship, did we? We were really high on our copium supply, good grief.

I could, and still might, write a whole meta about how c!Quackity has been passively suicidal with a foreshortened sense of future for a very long time. As far back as Doomsday, he didn't care if he lost his life, as long as he got to watch those who hurt him go down first. He declared so many times that he would die with his country. He was incessantly compared to c!Wilbur, both by other characters and by the narrative itself. He was fucking terrified of being betrayed again, but he always expected it, and moreover did nothing to prevent it. He told c!Foolish and c!Purpled outright that they would have every right to kill him for what he did to them. Didn't even consider making himself immortal with the revival book, instead focusing on making sure c!Dream would no longer have it. Didn't fight back when Slime killed him. Doubled down on his mistakes, and in hindsight rationalized everything as inevitable. Wrested back control the only way he knew how, following another's model. Las Nevadas was a broken institution, built by a man who had given up on fixing anything. His story was always about the self-perpetuating cycle of power and abuse.

This... isn't shocking, unfortunately. If anything, it was too obvious an ending.

I won't go too deep into the OOC implications, because they will make me sound... way more parasocial than I want to be. But I don't think it's controversial to say that the DSMP holds a lot of complicated, difficult, bittersweet memories for many of its former members. It does not surprise me at all that the ending cc!Q chose for his arc was an unhappy one. There are several possible conclusions I would have greatly preferred, but none could have realistically happened without Certain People returning. I wonder how aware the creator was of that, and how much those emotions bled into the writing.

And while I'm... still not certain how I feel about c!Quackity blowing himself up even after being given a second chance (I will always prefer "live and try to do better" à la Bojack Horseman for characters like this), I see the in-universe logic behind it, and everything up to that point was completely in character. Right down to his denial of having ever done the deed, boasting that his enemies deemed him important enough to kill, while ironically taking hollow pride in denying them the chance to take the revenge he so desperately sought for himself, showing no mercy to who he maybe subconsciously believed was his greatest obstacle to true glory... ughhh, c!Quackity makes me so fucking SAD you guys-

Ahem. Anyway. Could he have forgiven himself? Would he have ever accepted the forgiveness of others? Perhaps, perhaps not. In two other lives, those he unknowingly gave a second chance to, he did. q!Quackity went on living for the sake of someone he loved, knowing he, too, was loved. k!Quackity went on living until he found justice, knowing he did not deserve to be wronged. c!Quackity... what other legacy would he have left? Does he know what he truly wanted, before all that fear and hunger for control tainted his heart? Was he content to know someone would remember him with a shred of fondness? That he left a single positive impact? That his life did have a purpose?What if he knew that even some of those with the most reason to hate him still wanted him to be better?

I suppose one might imagine an open-ended resolution, exchanging that last shot of c!Q's last life vanishing with him riding Boner/Ossium away from the explosion and into the sunset to build a better legacy. What would that new legacy look like? I have no idea. I don't think he knows yet, either. But we can pick our favorite based on the day. Time travel is real, and canon is made up. We can do what we want forever now. Enjoy.

He said "sorry Tallulah, but you are in a cold world", he took off his sword "it takes only one click". But there is no click, no sound, only q!Quackity questioning whether or not to kill Tallulah, silently watching her sleep.

He goes to thr canvas, and draws Tilín, his dead child, and hangs the painted canvas in the wall. The. Looks around, reading the signs that Tallulah used to talk with Wilbur, and then he retracts from what he was about to do.

q!Quackity gives a last watch at q!Wilbur and Tallulah's little wood and dirt house, and he leaves.

And then he ends stream.

okay i have processed enough to write my initial thoughts i think. still haven’t watched everything that happened today (i.e. sapnap’s stream, jack’s stream, techno after tommy went live) but. i want to talk a little bit

(also i always get nervous sharing my takes as my anxiety is. bad. so i’ll preface this by saying that i am absolutely not trying to start anything with or go after anyone whose opinions are different lmao. this is all very much /lh)

okay. so. in no particular order

i’ve determined how i feel about c!ranboo’s death. the answer is that i feel very little. i am open to changing this opinion based on others’ reactions (c!tubbo pls return king i’m begging) but currently i am not. mourning. like i did for c!tommy. that ficlet that i wrote was definitely me trying to make myself feel something and it didn’t quite work. that being said, i’m very happy that cc!ranboo’s finally gonna get to tell a story the way he’s wanted to!

c!niki. girl. please.

kind of on that note, i will not lie i normally find techno’s lore streams to be fun, at least. and this stream had its moments that i enjoyed? but overall, was not digging the syndicate pov today. really, really good to have confirmation that c!techno doesn’t actually like c!dream, tho

gonna round out my discussion of the syndicate. c!phil. he fucking fascinates me. i want to shake him and i want to punch him and i want to hug him. i want to be in his brain. i want to give him a reality check. but his interactions with c!tommy today, i honestly thought was one of the highlights of the lore for me. like, he still doesn’t get it. i would really like for him to get it, at some point. i want him to understand why l’manberg is important. and the fact that he went along with c!techno’s plans despite the fact that he knows how fucking awful c!dream is has me seething. but like. at least he’s made it really clear that he’s in c!tommy’s corner. i do enjoy that

okay so. c!tommy. i don’t. i don’t even consider myself an inniter. but the return of c!tommy had me feeling some kind of way let me tell you

it’s been said by so many other people, but cc!tommy’s acting? holy fucking shit. he and dream absolutely killed that moment. that was just. chilling. i don’t even really have the words. (and that blooper was also so fucking funny i love them)

and i’d like to talk for a second about c!tommy’s forgiveness? like, that moment where he forgave c!phil really drove it home for me. he obviously doesn’t agree with him, but i think he saw where c!phil was coming from, decided that c!phil actually believes he was being helpful (which. like. no. but that’s another thing), and so was able to forgive him for it. c!tommy really forgives people very easily. even people who have hurt him very personally. i am not going to make this about c!wilbur i am not going to make this about c!wilbur but c!wilbur as someone holding a gun shooting at someone else and he’s on his side but he still doesn’t feel safe because the gun is still there i am not over this i will never be over this

the walls. god. the walls make him feel safe. i can’t. i fucking can’t

i said i wouldn’t make this about c!wilbur but if c!wilbur doesn’t see the walls and have a fucking emotional breakdown then what even is the point okay sorry i’m done i swear

cannot let c!quackity go unmentioned. like, he is one of the best people to be helping c!tommy rn, because he’s had the whole c!dream-escaped-panic. he’s been there and done that. he’s ready to be effective. he’s ready to do what needs to be done. and he’s decided that what needs to be done is protecting c!tommy. it really doesn’t get any better than that

The First Time:

Quackity's laughs rang in your ear as you two run away from someone's house. The house was now filled with random animals, some were hidden while others were in plain sight.

You two were on the dream smp to prank a few people. It was your idea to do so. You were bored on the smp and since Quackity was on as well, you decided to ask him to voice chat and if he wanted to prank people and of course he said yes.

"Holy shit y/n, that was hilarious. You have great ideas sometimes." Quackity was still laughing as he talked to you. "Sometimes?!?" You tried to sound offended but failed, laughing seconds after you replied back.

Laughter filled the voice chat as you two discussed what other pranks you should do. Some were funny while others were just plain stupid, nothing less, it made you two laugh until your stomachs hurt and your eyes were teary.

"You are a fucking awesome person y/n and I love you for that," said Quackity, laughing right after he spoke. You felt your face heat up, he was joking right? Did someone tell him about your crush on him? Hopefully not, you weren't ready to confess.

"C'mon y/n!" Quackity's minecraft character ran in-front of you. He crouched and hit you a few times before running away. "Let's go prank some more people!"

You shook your head, trying to get rid of what Quackity said to you. 'C'mon y/n, he didn't mean it when he said he loved you... right?' you thought.

The Second Time:

"C'mon y/n! Pretend to be my significant other!" Quackity was practically begging you to be his partner, wanting to try and prank Tommy since he said that Quackity was lonely as fuck.

"No-way Quackity, I don't thi-" "Why not? I'll be able to say stuff like "Oh I love you so much y/n" to you! I'm sure you'll like that," joked Quackity, not knowing that your heart started beating faster when he said that to you.

"I-I um..." You took a deep breathe. "Fine-" "Great! Let's go and find Tommy! Follow me!" You took a deep breath as your minecraft character followed Quackity's. C'mon y/n, snap out of it, he was joking... again.

The Third Time:

You practically roasted Quackity into cooked meat- atleast that's what karl told you. You and your friends were playing jackbox and Quackity chose the rap battle game, thinking that he was going to beat everyone. In the end, after you were paired up with Quackity, you won. Now everyone was laughing at how good your rap was while Quackity himself was fake crying.

“Mi amor! I thought you were going easy on me!” stated Quackity, sniffing a few times to make it seem like he was actually crying. “I actually loved you and you broke my heart!” He kept on crying after that, ignoring how you didn’t reply. You felt familiar butterflies in your stomach, did you hear him right? Did he say that he loved you again? By now, you couldn’t tell if he was joking or not. Did you want him to be joking? You weren’t sure.

The Fourth Time:

You were tired. After working on your homework for hours, your eyes were drooping and your brain couldn’t think. You already drank some coffee and you knew it wouldn’t be healthy if you drank anymore. You sighed, you should just finish the homework tomorrow morning, it was getting too late for your liking.

Heading towards your bed, you heard your phone ring. Remembering that you left it on your desk, you picked it up and realized it was Quackity. You answered it as you got into bed, "Hey Quackity, need anything?" You yawned, the tiredness already getting to you.

"I was wondering if we could facetime but you sound sleepy so-" "No! Its fine." You cut him off, face heating up when you realized how desperate you sounded. You heard Quackity laugh from your phone, making you smile. "If that's what you want mi amor," he teased.

Hours passed by as you two talked about random topics, mostly about streaming since you two streamed a lot. You yawned again and before you knew it, you fell asleep. Quackity was still talking but stopped when he realized you were asleep. He studied your face, taking notice of how calm you look.

"I-I love you y/n, I really do." He said quietly. He both wished that you heard it and didn't hear at the same time, not knowing how you felt about him. Half asleep, you thought you heard Quackity say I love you to you again. Thinking you were in a dream, you replied back, "I love you too Quackity." Quackity's finger paused on the 'end call' button, did you just say it back? A smile on his face, he finally ended the call. He couldn't wait to confess to you.

She's so happy for you!

Girlfriend is super happy that her lover's band has a gig at a restaurant.

She'd hug you so tightly and [almost] exclaim how happy she is for you and your band.

"Babe, that's amazing! I'm so happy for you. Look - Look where you've all come!"

Now, she doesn't really listen to rock music as she isn't very fond of loud noises, but GF is still going to cheer you and your band on.

She has actually heard one of your songs, and she thought you all were really good!

Girlfriend wants to show her support for you and your band as much as she can.

When she sees that you're nervous, she can totally relate. She knows what it's like to be nervous when going in front of people and performing. She's felt the same way. Even her mother felt the same way before a few of her own shows too.

"Is there anything I can do to help you calm down, love? I can help you get prepared, or -"

She loves you, and she's willing to do anything it takes to help you feel at least a little bit better.

If you wanted to rehearse in front of her, GF will gladly be your practice audience for then. She would compliment you too.

If you were rehearsing with your band in front of her, she will hype you guys up, and be in awe of the talent that your band has.

If you rather rehearse alone in front of her, she will understand and still hype you up!

I'm just imagining her headbanging a little to the music and it's one of the cutest things I've ever thought of-

GF will also make sure that you look after yourself.

When this guy hears that his best friend is going to be performing with her band, he couldn't be happier.

Whoever Tommy told about your and your band's upcoming gig sent you support.

I mean, Walter and Betty can't speak English, so you got woofs of support from them both-

In all honesty, Tommy is really happy for you and your band. He thinks that the fact that you guys landed a gig is really cool!

He has a likening to Rock music and , given the chance, he will rock out with you guys.

LOVES your music. Covers or Original music - this guy just LOVES it all.

When he notices that you're nervous, big guy over here turns it down a couple of notches. He doesn't want to make you feel too nervous or overwhelmed or anything.

"Hey, hey, ___. You good? I didn't overdo anything, did I?"

When you tell him that you're nervous, he will ask why. He does understand why someone would be nervous about something like this.

Tommy's going to try to find ways to help you calm those nerves of yours down one way or another.

He will suggest that you play video games together.

Or maybe watch some videos together?

Perhaps you guys could do some dumb shit together too. Anything to get your mind off of what was happening soon and to calm you down.

If you want to rehearse in front of him, Tommy will watch and listen to you. All with a grin from the fluffy blonde boy.

This would end up with the two of you joking around with the instruments and microphones.

Just you two jamming out and singing random songs.

Just an evening with a bunch of laughs between two good friends.

The day/night of your performance with your band, Tommy will go to that restaurant with his and your friends to go and hype you up.

After a song, Tommy will clap and cheer with the gaggle of friends.

"WOOO! AWE YEAH ___! GO [Band's Name]!!!"

He will VERY MUCH HAPPILY tell the people sitting near him and your friends that you're his best friend.

"Y'know, that's my best friend up there. Isn't ___ great?!"

He'll fight anyone who disagrees. /j

All and all, Tommy is really glad that you managed to land a gig with your band and hoped that he had calmed your nerves enough the night before.

Quackity is STOKED that you AND your band got a gig. He's really happy for you!

He's gonna pull you in this huge tight-ass hug while rambling about how great you'll be. You are his best friend, after all.

He even over exaggerates his rambling by dramatically playing air guitar, air drums, and singing random gibberish.

"And then there'll be 'bang-bang-bang-ching-bang' while the singer's like "la-la-laaaa~!""

He's doing this to get at least a laugh out of you.

Big Q likes your music a LOT. If you're a cover band, he will sing that song you covered to himself. And if you're a band that writes original music, he'll play some of your songs on his streams to show his support - all while trying not to get copyright troubles.

He really thinks that you AND your band are amazing.

Once he notices that you're nervous, like Tommy, he turns his hype down a few notches. he really doesn't want to overwhelm you or make your nerves worse.

"Hey - what's up, __? You alright...?"

When he hears that you're nervous, he nods. He kind of understands why you feel like that. And it's a totally valid feeling to feel. Hell, you're going to be performing in front of live people.

"Listen, listen. You're gonna be so great out there, ya know? You're talented. Like, really talented. And so are your bandmates. If anyone says otherwise, fuck them. Don't listen to a damn thing they say. Hey - I'll be there to cheer you on, alright?"

For once during this conversation, he's actually being serious. Quackity really thinks that you're talented, and genuinely thinks that you'll do well.

To try and calm you down as much as he can, the two of you think of something to do.

There was playing Minecraft... Playing Roblox...

"Wanna play Rock-Paper-Scissors with my cat?"

Tiger's gonna eat your hand, so be careful with that, mate.

The two of you spend the night playing some really crackhead-y versions of games such as Monopoly or Clue with one another. The two of you were making dumb jokes and getting "angry" if you lost.

Big Q over here will also be over you, making sure you look after yourself that night too.

"___, GO TO SLEEP." He says as you called him for the third time that night.

"But I can't, Q."

"C'monnn, please? If you don't, you won't be able to play with your band tomorrow."

"Hmmm... No."

"Now listen here, you little shit. Don't make me go over there. I'll make you sleep."

"Oh, I'm so scareddd~"

Next thing you know, this guy is driving over to your place so that YOU GO TO S L E E P.

Anywho, the day/night you and your band performed, Quackity stayed true to what he had said and was sitting at a table eating something while watching you and your band perform.

He would cheer loudly after each of your songs, which DID earn him some looks from other people, but he didn't seem to care.

Quackity is happy that he's able to see you perform, and to be honest, he thought that you - his best friend - were amazing.

VOD: TommyInnit Speaks To Dream’s Sister AGAIN

(rp): Drista!! I love this chaotic child and am looking forward to seeing the children bully each other lmao. I especially love the mythos around Creative mode, and that the most benevolent god on the Dream SMP is just as likely to ban you as hand you a shulker box lol.

I do wonder how in character cc!Tommy is going to be able to stay during this stream: on one hand he’s a master at staying in character even during lh moments, and on the other Exile arc is some Dark Shit and Dristas like what, 14?? Overall I expect this to be one of the lighter streams, with a smattering of moments where we remember that, oh right, Tommy’s pretty actively suicidal at this point and he sees this as one of his last hurrahs.

Speaking of our boy Tommy: it's very clear we are getting closer and closer to the infamous pillar. He switches rapidly between Fight and Fawn reflexes and has mostly internalized Dream’s treatment and conditions at this point. The one stand out moment being him calling out Dream killing Mexican Dream last stream, and pointing out he was changing his story even when Dream tried to lie and say he died of “a drug overdose [...] or natural causes”. I’m curious if Tommy is going to bring it up again, and even more curious if he eventually believes Dream about it; something to watch out for, for sure. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this moment of rebellion happened right after he had someone both stand up for him and spend time with him that wasn’t actively hostile or going to end (supposedly, at least by intention)

27. mos thoser by food house: this song is fun sounding and confident, idk i feel like c!q would like it

28. can you really blame me for how i react by osquinn/p4rkr: the loudness of this song combined with the desperate tone of the vocals makes this another angry song for c!quackity in my eyes. i think when he blows up at people (such as when he blew up at foolish after techno broke out of prison), he feels really guilty after the fact. the chorus of the song (and the loudest part) repeats the titular line over and over: "can you really blame me for how i react?" i see this as c!q trying to justify his actions to himself to quell the guilt he feels for blowing up at people he loves.

29. i dont want that many friends in the first place by osquinn/p4rkr: this song is so interesting to me because it conveys so many different emotions. the production and delivery of the lyrics is really confident, while the lyrics switch rapidly between angry to self deprecating. she says "one phone call and his brains will get to moppin; sorry i'm so hyped up, i'm just dumb obsessed with violence; anxiety, i'm running outta options." this shows one of the sudden mood changes, from angry and violent to apologetic and anxious. i think this fits with c!quackity cuz he gets angry and calms down Rlly quick sometimes lel

30. pure by 8485: holy shit this song is so beautiful i've had it on Loop the past few days. the first line is "there was a time once, i thought i could be like you" and the last line is "there was a time once that i believed in you." that shit Hurts. anyway the way i interpret it for c!q is him knowing that he's better off without the fiances, but being unable to fully accept that. the chorus says "i'm better on my own; cuz i know what i'm like on the inside; i should know the way i can make it right; but i don't and i'm warm and terrified; this just feels like a bad dream" and i think that all fits very well with healing from a breakup. god that song hurts so bad i love it

31. seer by 8485: this song is so fun sounding, but it's about love in the end of the world. i think this song could represent how he felt in the midst of his relationship with c!schlatt. it's got idyllic lyrics about love, but the situation seems to be very dire and sad. the chorus says "but i can't see you the way i mean to; you're pixelated, baby come just a little closer to the barricade." this is obviously showing that the singer is more attached to her partner than they are to her, and that they have more power over her in a way. then, in the first verse, she says "i keep on wanting you more, i hope you feel the same; i think the world's gonna end, i wish someone would say when; cuz i would run to you then, i don't think i'd complain." this again shows a severe attachment to her partner even if they might not feel the same way. the next verse says "i give all i am, i'm a hologram; but as long as you'll have me i'll stay." this line makes me think of c!q's relationship with c!schlatt before quackity realized he was being taken advantage of. he was giving everything to schlatt, only to be met with misunderstanding and rage. idk, this song is really sad

Alright buckle in because I have a few things to say about Big Q's stream.

BUT!

Let me just start off by saying, Quackity hyped the fuck out of this stream and he did not disappoint. It was even better than what I could've imagined and therefore every scene just had me grinning of ear to ear in anticipation and delight.

Of course, I have a lot of thoughts and I might rewatch it again to better understand somethings, but as a c!Quackity enthusiast, you probably know that I have a lot to say.

HOLY SHIT DID I LOVE HOW CINEMATIC IT WAS!!

The lighting, the scenes, the soundtrack, the acting, the cut scenes, everything! It was so well put together and the divisions of chapters made it even all the more enjoyable. As someone who wants to study film, I really appreciated and enjoyed the cinematic elements Quackity added into this stream. It was absolutely insane.

LAS NEVADAS

Quackity put a fast one on all of us who thought it was going to be called L'Vegas, and while I think L'Vegas sounds cool, I think it's cooler that Quackity named it something else. It shows that this is something completely new and fresh. It doesn't hold ties to any of the older civilizations. Also, the fact that we didn't get to really see it?? Just an outline?? And holy hell is it HUGE. I'm so excited to see the actual thing.

Schlatt coming back wasn't a huge possibility for me until today. The more I talked about what could happen and the more theories I saw, the more I was convinced that maybe he'd come back. I didn't want to get my hopes up though, so I tried not to be excited about the fact that Schlatt might return. AND THEN HE DID. There was his voice with that quote about someone's worse times and then his name was in the "STARRING" and I was just so happy. He, Quackity, and Sam are like my favorite members on the SMP so to see him involved in this was amazing. Also, he and Quackity's dynamic never fails to make me laugh.

MEXICAN DREAM

MD MY BELOVED! I cannot wait to see what Quackity has planned for him because I absolutely love this character and miss him so much. Still a little foggy on what the hell is going on with him or how/why he's visiting Schlatt, but I'm excited to see him in the lore again.

I expected to see Bad on the stream, as he and Quackity's relationship was deteriorating over the Egg thing. Big Q had told him he'd continue to get in Bad's way, so I thought that the Eggpire would make an appearance at the casino or something. However, that wasn't the case, it was just Bad having a conversation with Big Q and then being shown the kind of power Quackity has. Let me just say, Bad's acting today was on point. I was genuinely a little scared of him due to his voice. So kudos to him man! That was amazing!

Of course, I was excited for this stream in part of Sam being involved with the building and whatnot as well. And as always, Sam brought the A-game acting of making my heartbreak over how fucking tired and sad he sounds all the time. He and Quackity's conversation, as an Awesamdad and Duck son enthusiast, made me both happy and sad at the same time. Him not wanting to let Quackity visit Dream after what had just happened and Quackity manipulating him into thinking it was a good idea just,, oh man. And then Sam bending the rules of the prison to let Quackity have weapons in the cell!! AND GIVING QUACKITY HIS WARDEN WEAPONS!! AAAA SAM MY BELOVED.

Quackity

Man, Big Q himself. He's one of the best actors on the SMP, hands down. The way he gets super into character and works around technicalities and bloopers while still being in character?? Amazing. I love his character so much. The amount of layers his character has is just,, amazing but I refuse to call this some kind of villain arc, though it does worry me. HE MADE THE SCAR CANNON TOO!! The suit he was wearing wasn't what I had in mind for Vegas vibes, but it was cool. But all in all it was just an amazing performance on his part.

Dream

God, I hate this fucker (the character). He really thought he had the upper hand in the conversation when Quackity came to visit up until Quackity pulled out the ax. The terror in his voice scared the shit out of me (loud ass mf) but to hear Dream scared? Oh man, that was such a wonderful feeling. He's finally getting what he deserves.

The Story

My dumbass really thought that today's stream was going to be a grand opening of Las Nevadas, huh? Though, I think I enjoyed the stream a lot more because of the fact that I didn't know what was going to happen. I really enjoyed the whole breaking it into chapters though, as a storyteller I thought that was hella amazing. I just had so much fun with this story and I can't wait to see where it leads.

El Rapids

Why the fuck did I get emotional over a fictional country in Minecraft that was based on a Hillary Clinton snapchat vine? Please, that ending was beautiful and I got sentimental about the flashbacks and Quackity moving on from that part of his life.

The ending

WHAT WAS THAT ENDING AND WHY WAS IT SO GOOD?? It scared the crap out of me though because it caught me off guard but I thought it was so cool. The transition was perfect, the chips?? The calendar??? Amazing, showstopping, wonderful, confusing, perfect. I loved it.

All in all though, this stream was amazing. It's crazy to think that they're taking this Minecraft roleplay to cinematic levels. It's so fun and I'm just,, so proud of how far it's come and how creative not only the fans get, but the ccs themselves to do these streams for us. It's just crazy and I love it so much.

I feel like this is just the tip of the iceberg though. This is just the start of something completely new and I cannot wait to see how it unfolds.

Mmm. I'm a bit more in the middle on TNTDuo than some of my mutuals. I think we've talked about it before that after I learned to block the tag on literally every fandom platform, I've been able to enjoy it more.

I just had to cultivate finding people who talk about it as I want to talk about it -- Wilbur's strange dynamic with one of the only adult friends he's ever been able to make. I like current TNTDuo more because of how it paints their interactions in S1 than anything they're doing now, which is weird to say. Saying that, holy fuck have I accidentally seen stuff that even in shippy fandoms would be pushing a line. In a detached way it's kind of fascinating that this is one of the largest ships this fandom has ever had. In other fandoms, their dynamic would likely be a fringe ship that you know some people have interest in but it's not big enough to distract from anything in canon.

I have theories on why it took off -- mainly that Wilbur and Quackity are two of the best at making their characters really different from how they actually are so people use that fictional divide as justification for boundary pushing. There's also, as mentioned by others, the interactions between the content creators outside of RP. There's the fact that cc!Quackity and cc!Wilbur are the biggest proponents of creating really in depth interactions and histories between their characters and others (to the point that no one has had more canonical relationships than Quackity). Also that there just aren't many non-platonic relationships in fandom (which is literally why I got sucked INTO this fandom). Shippers are going to exist no matter the source material, and Quackity and Wilbur sort of threw blood in the water for some very hungry sharks.

Honestly, I don't think it was unintentional, but, I do wish one of them would address how uncomfortably graphic some of the jokes and shipping has gotten. Like, when I mean address I mean specifically about these two characters and not in general. Don't give wiggle room for people to misinterpret and twist and try to rephrase.

Regardless, yeah, I block about 90% of TNTDuo stuff at this point. But, I can recognize that it's a strange fandom trend that will likely die off once it's either acknowledged by the content creators or canon firmly dismisses it. I guess babbling to say that while it makes me uncomfortable, it is interesting to see the how's and why's and what is says about the fandom community more than anything else.

no but actually to elaborate just a little, watching the development of their relationship is absolutely wonderful, as is watching each of them wish for the other one's happiness and overall wellbeing. the whole "he deserves it all" kinda thing, and then also in that way, sort of acknowledging that they're important to each other. its kind of excruciating at times cause its usually preceded or immediately followed by a moment of self-deprecation, but it's still super enjoyable.

ALSO! also. them both trying to put a name to their feelings. i eat that shit up every goddamn time. they don't know what it is yet but I DO. i do. cs!beeduo my beloveds, you are both so repressive and also slightly ignorant but i love you both still

the dramatic irony of watching cs!beeduo try to interpret their relationship is both agonizing and emotional. i feel like a proud parent whenever they get slightly closer to identifying it but then they get scared because they don't want to fuck this up and ultimately to them the friendship is more important than discovering what lurks underneath which already says a lot, but they just get so terrified of exploring their feelings. something that will continue to pop up in both of their POVs is that there is this very real fear in the face of trauma to make any other part of your life unstable. this hits cs!ranboo especially in a lot of ways including this, but for both of them, they don't want to risk losing something stable when they have so little left.

okay y’all know me no real analysis here only vaguely coherent ruminations but i like to give my thoughts so here we go (and the typical disclaimer that these are just. my opinions. got me some thoughts, that’s all). in no particular order i am literally just rambling:

so first of all on the thing itself like. tbh i was bracing myself for the writing style to be a bit rough considering cc!wilbur’s not used to the prose medium and there was some unpolished stuff but as a whole like holy shit. there were some things in there that had my jaw dropping just on how good the writing was

and now on the lore uhhh haha c!crimeboys are home they’re home and i’m not normal about it i’m sorry but i can’t be. the. the whole. “i have been wrong but never lied to you, tommy.” the clear and consistent care for each other even as c!wilbur accidentally hurts him through his reaction to the question. the way c!tommy so obviously wants to stay with c!wilbur and the way c!wilbur obviously wants him there, calling the base theirs, and yet continues to distance himself from him at the same time, excluding him from the majority of the horse scheme. this is fine (it’s not fine)

the paragraph. the paragraph where his mind’s like a firework. won’t paste it bc it’s long but like. i am losing my entire goddamn mind. might do a close-reading on it english-class style a bit later but like. holy fucking shit. just at a glance we’ve got c!wilbur faking it til he makes it, having no clue what he’s doing (lotta brains but no polish haha geddi--[gunshots]), that thing where you start a task but then lose motivation to finish it (he is so mentally ill), describing his mind as a mess. “scared but confident.” my god. there’s so much here

c!quackity almost dropped his poker chip. he gets excited when c!wilbur comes to see him and then pretends he doesn’t. he poses in his office waiting for them. god he’s so pathetic (affectionate (derogatory (affectionate)))

the fact. the fact that the festival parallels were so clear. the fact that neither c!wilbur nor c!quackity could put aside their pissing match to work together. the fact that c!tubbo had to watch as once again, no one saved him. and this time, one of them really, sincerely could have, in a way that would have been highly difficult or even impossible to pull off at the festival. this time, there was no schlatt to stop them, no crowd of enemies. they could have done something. they fought each other again, and again, the kids paid the price. this was a mirror of the festival in one of the worst possible ways.

and then someone does save him. who’s that coming in with a steel chair?? it’s c!ranboo and the steel chair is called character development and a death with narrative weight (pls don’t come for me this is /lh and /hj) (also this would be his second canon life, yes? that was what i got from it)

the fact. that c!wilbur has once again unintentionally hurt someone. the fact that this is his fault, and he knows it. the fact that he didn’t mean to, that he never wanted this to happen, but that it did anyway, and the consequences don’t care about what his intentions were. this is so fucking delicious

“Wilbur felt alive.” i don’t think i could write a more impactful final line if i tried. he felt alive, with all of the grief and guilt that entails. he felt alive, and honestly, i won’t be surprised if he has a moment where he wonders, again, whether that’s a good thing. he still believes that he’s the villain, after all, and as much as he doesn’t want to die, this is going to bring up a lot of uncomfortable connections to other events.

this is unhinged and not a fully-fledged thought yet, but: maybe it’s fine as long as he’s the one getting hurt. it’s fine as long as the explosion is hitting him. or, in this instance, the horse, and c!quackity’s emotions. which will then presumably bring backlash on him, and it’ll continue like that, and it’ll be fine. it’s fine as long as it all goes according to plan. but he doesn’t account for other people. he didn’t account for how (or couldn’t believe that) blowing up l’manberg would hurt others, and how his own death would affect people (because he was the villain and no one would miss him, right?). and here, he didn’t think that c!tubbo or c!ranboo would get involved, that they would interfere with his plan, that they would get hurt. but now they’ve been caught in the crossfire, and he’s going to have to confront everything that’s wrong with how he’s going about things

this is the rock bottom. this is the ‘worse before it gets better.’ this is the kick in the ass he needed to truly begin a redemption arc. this is the challenge to his worldview. this is the start of something. and i think he’s gonna need a few more things to get there, but this is an excellent set up

i have more unhinged thoughts about his pride and self-loathing, about how one covers up the other, about how they’re entangled up in each other to the point where it’s dangerous to himself and others, how his confidence is half real and half a front to cover up how scared he is, about how even when trying to get ‘revenge’ he still shows a terrible lack of self-preservation (burgundy to a heist?? sir please), but like. that would take a whole other post i think

something about his repeated turning off and on of the lamp is also. hm. reminds me about buttons in pogtopia. reminds me about knowing nothing will happen, but secretly, sort of hoping that something would. notable, i think, that when he was doing that, nobody else was in the room with him. nobody else was there. who would have paid the price, if the redstone wasn’t right?

on a more lighthearted note. “You are a walking second place medal.” the sickest burn. get his ass. i swear i love c!quackity i would just also love to see him get wrecked <3

i need to wrap this up but. “Did you steal his eyes? I would’ve stolen his eyes but I’m built different.” cc!wilbur really does understand c!tommy like nobody else, huh. there were some things in here that surprised me, but this wasn’t one of them

Not quite an essay but like. I think it's specifically satire of how twitter, especially 'terminally online' (not meaning here people who spend a lot of times on twitter, more like the caards subtwt cc neg dni type things) sees the ccs, both from the stan and anti perspective.

This can be remarked by the extreme, but plausible, yassification of almost all the characters, as well as the very diverse treatments they get. Actually, the more im digging it, this seems to be the distorted pov of a nsfw leaning toxic shipper DNF main, or a parody of dnf fanfics as a whole.

The characterization of Dream is an exaggeration of the 'unstraight clever himbo slut' (none of those words are in the b*ble.) that Dnf fanfics often uses, basing off his twitter persona, who will do anything for his loved ones (Something that stans often praise about him.) and basically walks around gettint hot guys and being somehow the hot, smart, flirty, feline guy (WHY AM I TYPING THIS) and the sweet dumbass.

George's characterization somehow mocks how stans babify him and writes him as a naive, cute, played for laughs dumbass who farms awwws and thirst comments, drama queen who manages to be both extremely innocent and extremely not to fit the reader's envies.

BBH's characterization is the most negative out of them all, probably showing off how majority of dnf fanfics only adds him as a comic relief, and generally you don't laughs with him, you laughs at him. He's showed off a... kind of a creep at first ? Older than the protagonists, cryptic/borderline unsettling, talking like a dad (ahem.) ... He is also suprinsingly scary behind the 😊 and extremely caricatural. And you know who perceive irl BBH like this, and will even add him to their dni ? Yeag.

Quackity is.... probably the funniest caricature out of them all because he's. extremely fruitified without even mentioning any attraction to men. He just yass and slay and acts like a mean popular straight white girl, which is honestly the less racist fandom caricature that Mangobail could've chosen to write.

Karl ! Karl. Background main character, aka 'we had to squeeze the whole cast here' aka fanservice. The voice of reason that everyone ignores. Kinda bubbly, weird kid vibes, he's written like most of the twitter fandom sees him, sadly. Most of them don't really watch him or have him in their dnis, which is why he is eother reduced to straight-up loud and gross or a really sweet, well mannered, pastel hot boy. Pick your poison.

The corpse guy. Hmm. They did him emo and honestly good for them. He straight up doesn't care about shit and is what i call a 'background victim' (ex. getting spinny in the washing machine. rip king.) and is generally more reserved than the rest of the group. If Karl is the angel on people's shoulders, Corpse is the cynical subconscious. He also try to hides his affectionates feeling, mostly towards Wilbur, making him the archetype of the dark rough boy whith a very hidden golden heart, like a lot of twitter users and his fanbase sees him as.

And Sapnap. This one is really fucking interesting. You see, most dnf mains straight up hate on Sapnap, or reduce him as the third wheel, the guy who gets in the way of the loverbirds. He's often written as a flirty dudebro slash jock, agressively straight, lots of people write him as the 'situational cut' (guy who comes in the room just b4 they kiss so they quickly have to stop type beat) or straight up jealous and... this is shown a lot in Cheater Cheater.

Cause here’s the thing, with cc!Tommy’s lore streams he also gets super in character but it’s sad because I sympathize with being in his characters situation. Cc!Quackity on the other hand, he reminds me way too much of the uhh other part of the emotional abuse. So it’s scary for another reason.

But! I know it’s all acting so it doesn’t bug me as much as it once did I just enjoy this now :DD
