One of the earliest pieces I ever commissioned was this one with Jackie's Arch. I'd always wanted to get a companion to it, a night time ride on Scorpion's bike.

Over the last couple of years, I was lucky enough to work with @okayolek several times (here, here, here), and when they opened commissions in the fall, I knew I wanted them to do it.

They delivered.

For background on the piece, it's set between the end of No One's Gonna Love You and the sequel I have dreams of writing. Val is dying and they're running out of hope for a cure.

Olek captured their emotions perfectly: love and hope and a hint of sorrow on Mitch's face; the hopelessness on Val's. And that's just them! The detail Driss's bike! The Badlands moon casting that gorgeous glow across the scene! Night City and the wind farms in the distance! Literally everything.

I'm sorry that I can't recommend that you comm them as they've retired. Olek was my first experience commissioning fanart and a joy to work with on every other occasion. Thank you for everything, Olek! 😭

Got triggered by "chubby" anon so, please, bear with my rant.

One of the things I love your fandom for is the fact is not male-centered. I love women, I love seeing female characters and getting to know their stories, and I was unlucky to have 3 or 4 of my last fandoms revolving around one 'main' mlm ship and neglecting almost everything else. So, being in cbp77 was so refreshing! Or would be if not for people like mojo with their constant dramas of how fem V is more popular and gets all the cool mods, like breezypunk, who called people homophobes for not liking their mlm ship enough or like this 'positive' blog with them calling fem OCs 'conventional'.

Women just cannot have a spotlight without being measured and judged it seems.

And here again, I hear something wrong with having 'pretty' female OCs. You know what? I have two fem OCs, one of them is pretty and one of them is not. And it was 'not pretty' OC who gave me any visibility because I invested in her, and spend time making content with her, and enjoyed her and her story. Even being ignored by the whole extended pinky's group for being in the wrong ship didn't stop me.

Because no one but you decided if you are good enough for fandom.

Don't believe me? There are plenty of people with main male OCs or with no fem OCs at all and they seem to get enough traction (like katsigan or dreamskug). There are not pretty fem OC I see being loved by the community (i.e. wash's Val isn't pretty to my taste at all).

So, dear "chubby" anon, show us your V! Flood the tag with her, and make her seen. Write fics, make mood boards, draw/commission art. Hell! If you are determined enough you can learn modding and sculpt your own body type!

I'm sure your V is cool, show her to us, we are not telepaths to interact with something we don't see.
