I'm rewatching Charlotte's web the 73 version and I can't help but think Templeton would be a Tumblr sexy man if there was human art of him like how many people loved the oncler like he's greedy and his voice is kinda gruff like how has it not happened

While I was using my computer I looked over at my Singin' in the Rain poster and suddenly got the idea to draw Charlotte from Charlotte's Web as Kathy Selden from Singin' in the Rain since they're both played by Debbie Reynolds.

Ax and Marco broke up after the war. Marco ran off to space to find him. After his rescue from The One, Ax returns to his home planet to recover. It doesn’t take Marco long to decide that he’s going to stay with him. It also doesn’t take Marco long to uncover a military conspiracy that may change Ax’s entire understanding of his people.

@acavatica writes a really cool AxMarco fic and I wanted to draw them together in the current part, ‘Lies Agreed Upon’, where Marco has acquired a ‘thirdborn’ morph. Right now, they really want to be out as an interspecies couple, but it would not be conducive to their political and sociological aspirations.

So here is a sort of triptych.

At the top is a situation where Marco is in human form, and can be bare and open, face to the audience, but Ax’s face is hidden by his own staging. Marco is enjoying the possessiveness Ax displays. This isn’t exactly based on any specific scene in the story, as Marco would’ve gotten his tattoo after they left earth and the minimal earthlike background it has. We can just say it’s in the art district or something.

In the middle is how they can be at home. Both are more open, but their faces are still not completely visible. But both are really relaxed - in the latest chapter they both take physical and emotional comfort in each other.

The last is my favorite. Ax and Marco as ‘Merulan’ are bounding along in view of all of Andal. Marco’s face is hidden, of course, though his stalk eyes are visible and looking around. Ax is paying nearly full attention to him. I had a ton of fun trying to create their distinctive coats. Ax’s, I could base off Cavatica’s own excellent art, but I was guessing at the level of Marco’s swirlyness.

In any case, below are my separate pictures of the andalites - one takes up more than enough of a page.

2. Siona is deathly ticklish just about everywhere— though her worst spot is her stomach!

Spidecember day 11

Character: Charlotte A. Cavatica

Series: Charlotte's Web

Species: Barn Spider (Araneus cavaticus)

Anatomical accuracy: Varies

A close miss and a homerun for the same character. Fascinating.

The original novel comes with illustrations. In most of them, Charlotte is portrayed rather simply- but one shows a bit more detail.

It's a spider, rather generic, but she fits in well with the simple style of all the art. I believe this design was referenced for the 1973 movie adaptation.

... Why does she have antennae.

'73 Charlotte resembles a sort of spider-insect mix, between the distinct head antennae, and two eyes. At least the legs are in the right spot.

Honestly she's not the worst spider we've seen. I can appreciate the little hairs on her legs. Which are hard to see in this screenshot.

Moving on so i can ignore Sacrifice's snickering. 2006's Adaptation brought...

Now that is A. cavaticus. She even has pedipalps!

Barn spiders are on average tan to brown, though they have black or white markings on them. Darker markings are visible on the tips of her leg- you can make one out on some of her back legs.

Compared to a real specimen, she has some squishy-anthroness around her face, and her eyes don't exactly match perfectly with the real thing, but she works fine. She's quite lovely in motion.

Both versions of the movie are roughly the same, though the '73 version is a musical. I personally prefer the 2006 one.

I'm a stickler for anatomy. What can I say.

Now, In all versions of the story- the book, the movies, even the stageplay adaptation (Yes, that exists)- Charlotte dies at the end of the film. The whole story has this theme of death, with Wilbur (the pig) trying to buy more time to run from his. First being the runt, and saved by the daughter of the farmer who owns him (Fern), then later discovering he is to be sold for meat.

Distraught at his fate, this is what causes Charlotte to befriend him. I assume you already know what the plan to save him entails. Words woven into Charlotte's Web, first "Some Pig", then "Terrific", then "Radiant". These webs get Wilbur taken to a county fair, to be judged. While he doesn't earn first prize, a final web stating merely "Humble" makes the judges give a special prize to him as well. Being a prize pig now, he'll never be slaughtered for meat.

With her mission done, Charlotte lays her eggs, and settles down for the end of her life. She is dying, and with her final request, her eggs are taken back to the farm.

She is at peace with this, for it is how things go for spiders.

Many spiders only live long enough to mate once, never seeing their offspring hatch. Males die shortly after mating, and females die after laying eggs. There are exceptions, but for the humble barn spider, it is an unshakeable fate.

The next year, her eggs hatch, and all 514 slings balloon away, save for 3. They are named Joy, Aranea, and Nellie. Wilbur cares for them- and their children, though none of them will replace Charlotte.

In both movies, they appear as a smaller version of their mother- though in the sequel made for the 1973 movie, theyre given distinguishing hairstyles.

Well. At least they have palps now.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I quite like the story, and the 2006 adaptation has presented one of the most accurate spiders so far.

Character Inspiration Template: Kadira (WotR)

Explanation Under the Cut:

Sailor Moon / Usagi Tsukino - Usagi's compassion and strength is such a key to her, along with her flaws of being lazy, irresponsible, and slightly cowardly. Kadira doesn't nail all of Usagi's traits, though they're fierce and extraordinary protective with flaws of uncertainty of their abilities and roles. Usagi turns from childish cry baby to regal, considerate, and power while still keeping her eye elements. Kadira goes from a frightened and self loathing mageling to a powerful, compassionate wizard and leader for her people.

Cordelia Foxx - Cordelia spent her life being bullied and humiliated by her mother, accepting the mistreatment due to her lack of ability rather than not seeing that the trauma is stifling her powers. She's used by Fiona Goode, to has done anything she can to keep herself alive and fearing her own daughter's rise. This directly influences the toxic relationship Kadira has with Areelu Vorlesh.

Charlotte A. Cavatica - Intelligent, compassionate, snarky, and protective, Charlotte is a spider but determined to save her best friend's life and dedicated herself to the cause. Using her skills, her sharp tongue to those who deserve it, she manages to save Wilber before she dies. The dedication Charlotte had to protect those she loves is a strong trait shared with Kadira.

Princess Nausicaä (movie) - Nausicaa is a curious young woman with a fascination for science and love of life in all it's forms. It's that love that allowed to recognize that monsters are only monsters when we refuse to understand something. She has to sacrifice herself to ultimately save humanity and seemingly corrupted life, allowing for both to work in harmony again.

Clarice Starling - An ambitious young woman who is haunted by her father's death, Clarice is intelligent and very aware of how the world works. However, her youthfulness makes her second guess herself as does her anger. When a serial killer begins to attack largely unwanted women, Clarice's ambition is forsaken to the ability to help these women and to somehow silence her own guilt. She also goes face to face with horror's most beloved cannibal and lives to tell the tale, they bonding over the guilt from their prospective pass.

Asami Soto - Not as much as the others, though she is brilliant and one the kindest people in LoK. Asami's general looks above the neck absolutely inspired Kadira's look as I developed her more.
