Hi! How are you today?
Not having a very good day, tbh, but managing the crisis as best as I can (barely functioning). I have had worse?
We'll have a little sigh and a little Rick Astley, and keep going!

"I trust you with my life." for John and Sherlock
Let Me Count the Ways ask game
It had been a lousy day. Back-to-back patients that left him only fifteen minutes for lunch, someone had bumped into him on the way to work and he'd dropped his phone on the sidewalk and cracked the screen, and on top of everything else, it was pouring rain. As he hurried down Baker Street, all he could think about was sitting in his chair with a nice cup of tea. At the moment, he didn't even care if Sherlock was still stuck in the same cloud of gloom he'd been in all week. At least this latest bit of doldrums in their caseload had left Sherlock quiet, rather than bouncing off the walls and shrieking away on his violin.
Yes. Some quiet and warmth, that was all he needed.
As soon as John stepped through the front door and hung up his dripping raincoat, he realized it wasn't going to be as quiet as he'd hoped. The sound of the violin echoed down the stairwell to him, but at least it was an actual song this time, instead of erratic notes that belonged in the soundtrack of a horror movie.
Sherlock stood in front of the window in his dressing gown, playing what seemed like a complicated piece as he watched the rain fall. John thought he was beginning to get a sense of Sherlock's moods from what he chose to play. When he was really thinking hard, he would often play something from Bach or Vivaldi, as if its steady rhythm kept his mind focused. John didn't know much about music, but whatever Sherlock was playing right now sounded complex enough that it probably required more of his attention. Something to keep his mind occupied when there was nothing else at hand.
John made a beeline for the kettle. While he waited for the water to boil, he crossed over to the fridge to grab the milk.
Only to discover they were out of milk.
And bread.
And eggs.
“Sherlock.” He ran his hand down his face, wiping off the last bits of rainwater. “You didn't go to the store, did you?”
Sherlock kept playing, fingers flying over his instrument with flawless precision.
“Sherlock!”
“What?” Sherlock snapped, stopping abruptly and whirling around to face him.
“I told you we were out of milk,” John said, trying and failing to keep his voice down. “I asked you to go to the store, and you said you would.”
“What? No, I didn't.”
“Yes, you did.”
“No, I didn't.”
“Yes, you did!” In the back of his mind, John was aware that they were starting to sound like children, but he couldn't stop. “I left you a list and everything!” He picked up the slip of paper on the kitchen table. It didn't seem to have moved since he'd left it there that morning.
“I doubt it,” Sherlock snapped, tucking his bow under his arm and stalking across the room. “I would have remembered something as simple as that.”
“Yeah, unless you 'deleted' it from your 'hard drive,'” John said, rolling his eyes as he passed the shopping list over. He'd even gone to the trouble of spelling out exactly which brands to get, to make it as simple and straightforward as possible so Sherlock wouldn't somehow end up getting shampoo instead of milk again.
The kettle switched off, and John turned to the cupboard where they kept the tea. With a sigh, he shuffled through the various options of herbal tea that wouldn't require milk. “I trust you with my life, but I can't even trust you to do the shopping....”
Sherlock didn't reply as John put the teabag in his mug and poured water over it. When he turned around to head for his chair, he found Sherlock standing stock-still in the doorway, staring blankly at him.
“Sherlock? You okay?”
He just continued to stare, one hand holding his violin in a precarious grip, one clutching the shopping list.
John waved his hand in front of Sherlock's eyes to get his attention. “Hello? Earth to Sherlock!”
Finally, Sherlock blinked and seemed to snap out of his reverie. “You...trust me with your life?”
John frowned. “Yes?” He waited for the punchline, the moment Sherlock would somehow turn it all around and end up mocking him.
Instead, Sherlock just blinked rapidly, as if the thought baffled him. “Really?”
“Yes. I think you've saved it enough times by now to have earned that, at least.”
Sherlock still looked flummoxed. “No, but you...truly? You really, honestly trust me with your life?”
“Yes. Now can I sit down, or are you going to make me stand here to drink my tea?”
With a start, Sherlock stepped aside and let John pass. John sat down in his comfortable chair with a sigh of relief and took his first sip. Chamomile hadn't been what he'd been craving all day, but it wasn't unpleasant. Maybe if the rain let up a little, he'd pop down to the corner store once he'd finished his tea and....
John followed Sherlock with his eyes as he slowly walked over to his chair and sat down, moving as gingerly as a bird-watcher trying not to frighten away a rare bird. He watched John as if he were the most fascinating specimen he'd ever seen.
Continuing to sip his tea, John determined not to let the staring faze him. He'd endured much worse from Sherlock, after all. He hadn't intended his words to have such an impact on Sherlock, but he supposed it wasn't a normal sort of thing for people to say in this day and age.
But then, nothing around Sherlock was ever 'normal.'

I love your username btw
tell me about something cool, if you like?
Thanks! ^^
Something cool? Uhhh i don't have my handy dandy notebook full of facts I collected with me.
Lemme think, I know quite a bit about the history of cannabalism, the biology of chimerism, body language cues including some universal ones that range across history and cultures but appear different, I know quite a bit about writing, a lot about Islamic history! And Assyrian history, a tad bit of Arthuriana, Greek mythology, Norse mythology, Egyptian mythology
I know way too much about comic book characters, especially DC characters (esp Batfam characters), and Marvel characters. I also know quite a bit about Archie comics, Phantom comics, Mandrake the magician comics...
I can talk about the characterizations of these comic book characters while also shifting between different timelines. I can talk about the characterizations of TV show characters (The Flash, Arrow, Batman TAS, Justice League TAS, My Adventures With Superman, Young Justice, Ultimate Spider Man, Pride and Prejudice etc). I can talk about the characterizations of movie characters too, and books! Novels! (Pjo, Harry Potter, Nevermoor, Little Women, Sherlock Holmessss, Tolkien, Golding, etc etc although it's been a while since I've read the classics)
I can talk about the intricacy and beauty of the plots of some movies, tv shows, books and comic books too! And I can talk on length about my fics and other works too and how I use characterization and plot and stuff and-
Point is. I can talk a lot about a lot of things 😅

Thunderhead by Mary O'Hara
added to TBR | on my TBR | couldn’t finish it | did not enjoy | it was OK | liked it | loved it | favorite | not interested
A quick Google didn't turn up any description beyond "it's the sequel to Flicka, 'nuff said," and I haven't read Flicka, and I don't really care for horse books generally. So nah, not for me.

for the WIP game -
(???)
You-
Bear in mind, your service helps me with outlining this possible story. It really has no rhyme or reason yet.
A murder, a bible, and a priest. What have they all in common? Well nothing yet, really, save for Chesterton, Father Brown, some weird ramblings from my mind. Anyway, structurally, this can't be told through Father Brown's POV ─ mainly 'cause I'm just not that good. The question is whether our POV is a she or he. See, mainly, the murder is committed by someone else (who was a thief), but our protagonist has a little spat with our dead friend, hits them with a big hefty Bible and runs off. Our main deadie is found with face bashed, and a Bible on the scene of the murder.
Father Brown is there for [insert something I will definitely have to ask a Catholic about], and our main POV keeps getting their answers switched, which isn't making many scores with the police. In a far off loose thread, this story's theme is retaliation, and may or may not feature divorce.
Alors! My timer is finished, so thank you very much for indulging me with some overall silliness!
#Excerpts#If it wasn't clear#I send this GIF with irony#asks are letters in the mail.#catkin-morgs-kookaburralover#The Answers#Admittedly I want it no longer than your average Father Brown story#Roughly 60-80 pages in length#But that would be rather hard to excuse from a different point-of-view#As I write this I am leaning very strongly to write from a young lady's POV#but ─ hmm

So. My favorite pair of linen overalls got a hole in them
Very sad! If you look close enough you'll see the blood stains from when I skinned my knee and ripped them in the first place. I decided that the solution was visible mending, but I had never really embroidered before, and none of the examples I saw were quite my style. Time to wing it.
First I sewed a piece of twill tape to the hole as a patch. It's pretty ugly, but it gets better
Then I did the... normal? bit of visible mending. Or at least, this is what all the tutorials show
Finished that part up and made it look a bit nicer.
Added some flowers to the basket
And some more for good measure! Some of the flowers cover stains, and the rest just fill in space.
All in all, I'm really proud of how they turned out and I can't wait to wear them when the weather gets warmer. The next step is to fix the button in the top of that got ripped out back in April.

Top three fics you’ve written (in author’s opinion)? ♡♡♡
Oof, tough since my ao3 has only 3 published ones and my fanfic.net profile is. uh. old. And most of my newer fic stuff has mainly been with friends so... Hm! Let's give this a go shall we!
Splashdown (Star Wars). A birthday gift for @moobrvoobl-moobmoob-oobmpoobroom over on discord about her OC since we both have gained brainrot over the others' work. Strike awakes someplace almost unknown to find someone familiar.
No Going Back (Light on the Dark) (Star Wars, Maddox [GFFA]). My first dip back into writing fics since going hardcore with original work for a time thanks to Uni, and I'm glad to say I still got it! Maybe I'll post it here sometime if there's interest - but the logline is: Maddox in disguise has a confrontation with Darth Vader.
The Christmas Calamity (Eddsworld). While descendant OC-centric, it's one of the few I'd been planning and writing for since 2017 and finishing it in Christmastime 2020 felt immensely relieving. Three bickering descendants of the Eddsworld trio have to save Christmas from an old friend's sleigh and a new foe's threat. Be warned, the characters cuss like sailors and it was one of my first attempts at writing horror, but there IS heart to it that still gets me. Unlike the others, this IS on my ao3 at Christi_Bee, so if you're fine with all these, have fun!
